Hortus, from Per Se and Blanca Alum, Starts Serving Modern Korean Fare in Nomad | Eater NY

"At 555 Fifth Ave. in Midtown, I note that the southeast Asian street food restaurant Vien has opened a second location offering noodle and rice bowls." - Stefanie Tuder

Google
This location is inside Fashion Island's atrium. BN bookstores are all similar but this one stands out because of a large selection of gift items for teens and kids. You can find these items on the upper level. It also has a Starbucks, even though there is a full Starbucks about 100 meters away. I enjoy going to a physical bookstore and I hope others continue to support this location.

Was ignored for well over 45mins by lady in kids section. Asked for assistance 3x and she kept saying “will be right there.” Was ready to buy bunch of kids books for a trip will just Amazon.

Helpful, friendly staff. Loads and loads of selection. Two-stories chalked full of endless reading options. They carry ample amounts of the new releases as well. Tons of extras likes games, book paraphernalia and memorabilia. Escalators make it easy and convenient as well as an elevator for handicap accessibility.

Awesome! Staff was very friendly. They had some pretty good sales here as well, even on the hardcover books. Everything was clean and organized. Not many people here, it was nice and quiet and found all the books my friend and I were looking for and more! Would come here again, for sure.

Of course this is one of my most favorite bookstores. It has pretty much everything you could ask for. And if whatever you want isn't in, the wonderful folks who work there will get it for you. I just love browsing the racks and racks of books, looking for my next great read. It is truly the best way to spend an hour or an entire afternoon.

Terrible customer service and disrespectful employees! The guy working in the afternoon on Saturday August 30th in the kids area needs training. I tried to ask where a book was located before I could even ask the question he replied with I'm busy attitude. Lets just say he was lucky I was with my children or he would have gotten the training by me. I will never be back to this location.

Looking for a good book? The world of books is endless as you enter any bookstore. Any topic you didn’t even know existed, exists here. Yeah I know the library has books too but there is something magical about walking into a bookstore and picking up a new book and flipping through the pages. Maybe even hanging out for a bit and reading to see if you want to take it home. Sometimes you can find a chair and just get lost in your book. So grateful that Barnes and Noble is still around, most have a Starbucks inside - coffee or tea and a good book. 📖 ☕️ 😀The staff is always helpful and the shelves are always organized at this location which is next to the Food Court in Fashion Island. It’s a great place to find nice gifts too!

Yelp
Passed by Barnes n nobles and decided to stop in. Was able to get some cute kids book. Checkout line went by quick. Service was good.

Yelp
Sitting on a corner of Fashion Island, this bookstore offers several levels and something for all ages. The most obvious is its giant book selection. They even have a few people ready to answer any questions about a potential book you are interested in. They have a giant kids section - this includes, books, games, and toys. I heard several kids telling their parents they didn't want to leave. There is a large magazine section, puzzles, and board games. Come check it out and stay a bit to chill and relax.

Yelp
Tonight, I went into Barnes & Noble with my cousin and was followed around the store by a worker named Sam. For context, it was raining and I was wearing a trench coat, and not even five minutes of being in the store Sam comes up to us looking down at my pockets (which my hand was in my pocket with my phone as well) and asks us if we needed any help, we said no thank you. She then followed us around the entire store and blocked the exit so we were unable to leave, which we were not trying to do in the first place. After ten minutes of us looking at books and magazines, she came up to us and told us "Security saw us stealing" which is why she approached us. I asked where the security was because there was no security around us and then she said that they saw us from outside. She completely lied in that situation to cover up her assumption that us stealing. She made our experience completely uncomfortable and tried to humiliate us with no evidence. We made sure to show her that we had nothing on us, I voluntarily took off my coat and shoes, and let her check my bag and my cousin did the same. I will never be coming back to this location again. They handled this very unprofessionally and our experience was unpleasant.

Yelp
I had to kill a few hours today so I came in here and time went by fast. I got an okay tasting Americano from the Cafe, bought a beanie knit kit, pursued the religion, nonfiction, and autobiography sections for something good to buy and read, and used the restroom. Every section of this place was clean and organized so it made it enjoyable to make this pit stop. I'm not sure how much longer these stores will be opened but I'm appreciative for the refuge and goodies I got.

Yelp
The girl working in her young 20s dark brown hair fair skin with glasses about 5'5 needs proper training . Very rude and entitled. She told me to pick up after myself which I do and said that where the toys are is a fire hazard . They need to change the layout where the toys are then if it's in a fire hazard way. I won't be buying from this location. I was shopping for my 9 month old son and 8 year old daughter

Yelp
I was just casually walking through here because I like to take a look at the books before I choose exactly what I want. I'm a Kindle reader so it's a lot easier to come in and take a look at the book front and back. Get an idea of what's going on. I've been stuck on two different books that I'm not exactly sure which one I want to read over the other. The staff approached me Asking me if I needed any help. I told her that there were two different books that I was interested in and she gave me probably the best overview of each book giving me a better idea of what I was looking for in both books. I would never have known Over the two books which one I would rather read if she had never approached me and never gave me the time that she did to introduce me to the two books that I was going between. She knows what she's doing. She knows her product and she's doing a great job. I also like that they have random tables with different types of books set out of recommendations for different genres. I think that's great.

Yelp
I was in here last night around 6:15/6:30 to pick up a book my mom had put on layaway for a family members new baby and some magazines. I come in here every week and I am a vailed, loyal, patient, who is part of the rewards program. Normally I have no problems with the staff who work here. However that was different last night. I wanted to checkout downstairs, but knowing about the book being on hold was upstairs I really didn't have a choice. The only cashier upstairs was a tall guy with a very dry almost rude personality. On my receipt the CSHR number was 3964. He was asking me about my last name, telling me to hold on, hearing his conversation and comments to other customers about Hocus Pocus and what he's reading and not being or having a "that type of personality" just came off unnecessarily and again kind of weird. When I went to pay my dad's card was declined twice. I told him I'd be right back which I was and he told me to call the credit card company while showing me this big red sign. Within not even seven minutes I was back and he had my order, but informed me he had to start all over again in which he seemed annoyed. Then while putting my receipt in the bag he couldn't even tell me that I had a coupon for the cafe for $1.00 off a drink in which expired that day 1/31/25. So I drink tea, it was cold and to know that I could have saved any kind of money is a big deal, but he never informed me. I really hope to bring a light to management or those higher up at how rude this man was and how he made me feel uncomfortable and bad about myself. There are a lot of helpful guys and ladies who work at this location whom are always kind & friendly. I hope that they will help those like this guy learn or teach him how to be kind and be professional.

Yelp
The three grandkids love going to Barnes & Noble and there's none close to their house. We ended up spending quite some time here for them to each get a book. There's so much to choose from. My oldest granddaughter I thought she got a book that was around $15 when I went to pay it was 35. Boy was shocked. But that's what she wanted. Not too many people working in the store so I had to go to the front to get some information. But the guy that helped me took us to where we needed to go and that was great. Check out was easy and parking was also. We all love to read.

Yelp
There were so many books here. It's nice to take the kids here to check out and read some physical books. The kids love it here! There's also some Lego too check out

Yelp
This isn't a newer location, they definitely needs some TLC and a revamp. I think that of Barnes and Noble in general, though. But this location is awesome to for being accessible (entrance right in front of parking lot) so you don't have to walk fully into the mall to get to. Also, love how seating is plentiful. There is a newer Barnes and Noble in OC and they have NO chairs, NONE. That's why I think that new location will not flourish and this one will continue to thrive. If there are no chairs people might as well buy their books online, here you can actually experience the whole book store experience. Thank you for that! Also grateful that they have the cafe to sit and enjoy as well.

Yelp
09/03/2024 Mallory helped me over the phone and was so pleasant to talk to, she helped me get the exact book I was searching for. I appreciate the ease and flexibility she offered me. After leaving a different Barnes and noble not so happy with the service, it was awesome to get such great service at this location! Thanks again Mallory!

Yelp
This is easily the nicest Barnes & Noble I've been too. I came looking for Fantasy/Romantasy books and found exactly what I wanted, along with the collectors edition of ACOTAR! Very satisfied customer, thank you.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this Barnes and Noble. It is huge compared to mine back in Vegas. The top floor contained some non-fiction, new releases, gifts and the kids section and the bottom floor contained everything else. I took my four year old so she could pick something out for her, her brother and my niece and she had a blast - there was even a storytime going on (honestly not sure if it was a parent or an employee) but all the kids absolutely loved it. The staff was friendly and there was such a huge selection I only wish I had more time to explore and find more amazing books to buy.

Ronald W.

Yelp
Super bad customer service from the guy working the front today (7/23) around 6pm. Hope his managers see this

Yelp
Great store for a variety of magazines! They always have something for my mom's interests as well as my own. We still also still like to read REAL books and turn the pages. We both have a difficult time reading books or magazines on an electronic device.

Yelp
I've been to the cafe in this Barnes and noble and the staff are really friendly! I've had a few different drinks made there and they're always very yummy. The staff is always really friendly and nice, the barista Jada always has good recommendations on drinks and snacks

Yelp
You ever wonder what it would be like if Barnes and Noble never got affected by Amazon? This location, this SPECIFIC location, is probably the last Barnes and Noble that acts and operates like they don't know who the heck Amazon is. For the rest of us who don't live nearby, we all have seen at least one Barnes and Noble fold within the past decade due to the competitive market (and yes, it's primarily due to Amazon let's just be frank about that). Whatever small town you or I hail from, our little Barnes and Noble folded up to be offered as tribute to sustain this titan-of-booksmithing location. You walk inside, and shelves are extremely well stocked, there's knick-knacks everywhere, you just get a massive sensory overload walking in. People are perusing around, sitting on tables, sitting cross-legged on the floor, and they're reading books, magazines, comics, reading the backside of their little Funko Pop tchotchke, everyone's just basking in the environment. It's what we wanted Barnes and Noble to have been, but faltered on a wider scale due to whatever issues in the market this company had to face. Is this all a facade, is this all a front? Who knows. Maybe the next time I'm back in town, this place folds just like the rest of the Barnes and Noble we're all akin to. I will say, however, I had a pleasant experience in the 15-20 minutes that I was here walking around, and it felt good to see a bookstore be this well-stocked and lively still, in a day and age where brick and mortars are just straight going outta fashion.

Yelp
I like this location a lot. It has a big footprint because it's two levels as opposed to some of the others that are cramped. It's spread out nicely and they have a much larger selection of magazines here. The cafe has plenty of room and it's split up to where you can sit inside or have window locations depending on what you desire. I think that overall, this is probably one of the top two locations in Orange County.

Yelp
This is a beautiful Barnes & Noble in a beautiful shopping complex , Fashion Island Center. Two floors of all the latest book releases as well as tables with specially reduced priced books. The store is on two spacious floors with a very nice cafe located on the lower level. The staff that I met couldn't have been more helpful and actually walked me to different sections of books I was looking for. The staff also gets 5 stars. Plenty of convenient parking and located next to a large Whole Foods Supermarket. If you are into new books this is a beautiful store to visit.

Yelp
I pre Ordered a book for a Christmas gift and received confirmation that it was ready to pick up. This was expected to be a big time saver as I was already planning on doing some shopping next door at whole foods. It's a Busy time of year and I get that, but there was no one staffing the pre-order pick up Area and I was told to get in an extremely long line and wait my turn. Life goes on and I'm happy to do what I'm told in order to get the gift that I need, however the service they offer is not as described. Once I met with someone at the counter she thought I was trying to find a book to purchase and tried to search their database. After a couple of challenges expressing that this is not the case, I successfully conveyed that my book was already purchased and just needed to be picked up. After some time she connected the dots. I know retail is hard during holidays but if they can't offer a service they should suspend it during busy times.

Yelp
Absolutely love going to Barnes & Noble and just having a coffee and reading a good book or looking for some puzzles for my Nana.

Yelp
This morning I visited this Barnes&Noble to kill some time before an appointment and was PROFILED by Erin, the manager, who thought I was trying to steal a book. Based on several past reviews, she not only has a sordid history of treating customers terribly, but she also has a history of unethical and unprofessional behavior towards her employees. I'll never be returning, and I strongly urge that everyone support their local bookshop instead of supporting this chain, which has let this type of repulsive behavior slide for years. ~Continue reading for my full experience~ This was my first time at this location and at a Barnes & Noble, in general, in a few years, so I was excited to read for a couple hours with a coffee from the cafe. Walking in, I knew which books I was interested in comparing and spent about a minute looking for the first one before finding an employee, asking her where it was. I followed her to one of the tables by the front register where it was located, thanked her, picked it up, and checked the price. Another book I was interested in was there, so I checked that one too. I had to use the restroom, so I leave them both at the table and walk around the upstairs and downstairs in search of one before sitting down to read at the cafe. After not finding one, I decided to walk around the food court, which was right outside. As I stepped out of the store and was a few feet outside, Erin (the manager) follows me out and asks me "Did you need help finding something?" I told her no, and that I was just going to the restroom and coming back. She turns around and goes back into the store without saying anything else. I, personally, think that's a weird question to ask someone once they're outside of your store. Considering the history of terrible customer service at this location, I highly doubt her true intention in rushing out of the store behind me was to help me with something. I go back after the restroom and decide to check out the magazines before heading upstairs again. I see and employee and smile as I walked by into one of the magazine aisles. I see Erin walk by and I hear her tell that same employee to stay by the magazines and watch me because she "knows" I'm going to steal something. I brushed it off and thought maybe I was just hearing things, so I continue looking at the magazines and notice the employee walk into an aisle with me and scan a random magazine for no reason. I take a beat and ask her where the graphic novels are, since one of them was on my comparison list, and she directs me upstairs. (This is where it gets bad) About a minute into being in the very small graphic novel section, I see Erin whip around the corner, bob first, and immediately asks me if I found the book I had asked about when I first walked in. She obviously talked to her employees about me. I told her yes, but at this point, I knew she was profiling me, so I asked her if she thought I was stealing during our interaction outside of the store downstairs. She got flustered at the question and asserted that she was just trying to help me find something and that our interaction was inside of the store. I assured her it was outside of the store and that it definitely felt like she thought I stealing. She responded with "that's what we get paid to do." I was shocked by this response and her admittance to profiling me without just cause. As she turned around to leave, she asked if I had left the first book up front, and all I had to say was "Yup, where I found it." Whether her actions were racially motivated or not, she was incredibly rude and made the experience of being there intolerable. I ultimately felt very uncomfortable after the interaction and left without a book, just a bad taste in my mouth. If you've gotten this far, thank you taking the time out of your day to read my horrible experience. I strongly urge you to shop at a small business or online instead of supporting this location, which clearly endorses and compensates this type of behavior from management.
google avatar

Elliot T.

Yelp
I was looking for a book. I had asked the employee who said it's downstairs if we had it I said online says you have it. I found it myself and when I went to go pay for it the employee ignored me. I slammed the book down and the employee asked me if I had a question I said I'm good I'll get this off of Amazon!

Yelp
Since the Metropointe Barnes & Noble by South Coast Plaza closed, Huntington Beach, Orange, two Irvine locations, Aliso Viejo, Tustin and this Barnes & Noble remain in Orange County. It is located inside the Atrium Food Court. How convenient. You can buy one of their many magazines or books and head over to Wahoo's Fish Tacos or one of the many seats within the food court to peruse your selection. The bookstore has two floors, the upper floor has the Cafe. The Cafe here does not have as many seats as the Aliso Viejo or Orange locations. A side note: if you want to sign up for their membership card, the Cafe is unable to do it. At least the employee was unable to do it when I checked. The $25 yearly membership card gives $60 worth of coupons in the mail, 1-3 Express shipping on their website, 10% off cafe items, 40% off list price of Hardcover Bestsellers, and 10% off most everything else, such as magazines and greeting cards. I'm a fan of their greeting card section. It seems to me that the magazines here focus more on Wellness for lack of a better term, than other locations at which I have shopped. I noticed several health, mindfulness and yoga magazines displayed in prominent positions. On the other side of the spectrum, there are magazines focusing on liquor. Don't forget the watch magazines if you're into that. Of course, they carry the ubiquitous women's interest and fashion magazines, both US and international. Toys for the children abound and there are plenty of records for teens and adults. The bookseller has a reputation for being pricey, however, I did spot some current books at 50% off. I would say that for the most part, you don't really come here for bargains, it's more about the atmosphere. Their cute greeting cards are not as pricey as Papyrus and other cards so I feel like I'm saving there. One note: you can get your book gift wrapped. It's a nice touch.

Yelp
We love being able to browse a bookstore, and this location has a good selection of magazines, books, games, and even some toys. Although we noticed the large Barnes & Noble Cafe as we were going down the escalator, we didn't have the chance to grab anything to eat here. Hopefully, it'll be a nice stop on a future visit. We started with the children's section. This area is huge, and they really do have such a great selection of kids' books and toys. They have educational items, like puzzles and board games, for children of all ages. They also have a good selection of stuffed animals and Legos as well. Although I wished they had a larger selection of bargain books here, the kids' section is really quite remarkable. I originally came here to buy the latest James Patterson book for friend who is in the hospital. When I noticed the book was $28 here, I was stunned. I was even more surprised when I went to Target the next day and found the exact same book for $14. It's the high cost of new releases at B&N that reminds me why I should be using my Kindle more often! This location was also a bit understaffed. When we needed help finding a couple of items, it was difficult finding a knowledgeable sales associate. While shopping in the children's department, we also noticed that no one was found at the customer service area. We eventually had to wander around the store aimlessly to find the things we needed. All-in-all this Barnes & Noble is a nice location, but it could definitely use more staff and better discounts. The prices might be high here, but this location really does have a great selection of books and magazines. For hard-to-find items in a pinch, this location is definitely worth a look!

Yelp
Good selection of books, calendars, games, et cetera; however, customer service is hit or miss here so it is helpful to know the section in which your title / author is shelved because you may need to find it sans assistance. In fact, on a previous visit I waited at the customer service desk for help locating a book just to be told perfunctorily that the store did not carry that book... So I walked over to two different book shelves upon which I guessed it might be located and sure enough not only was it in stock but there were quite a few copies. Needless to say I have avoided "help" since lol ugh Cashier today was nice though :) Area of need (besides help desk): restroom smells... unventilated. It does not need chemical odor maskers. It needs ventilation and air circulation. Some odors cannot be masked. They need to be diluted with fresh air.

Yelp
I tell my wife that every time she buys a book on her kindle, she shuts down a Ma and Pa bookstore. Now that she has succeeded in shutting them down, she's moved on to shutting down Barns and Nobles. But since there's a few left, we'll take an in depth look at them before they are gone too. Books. They have books. Lots of them. But wait, there's more. The cool ones have a Starbucks located inside. They actually encourage drinking coffee and reading books. This is where I go for all of my Dungeons & Dragons needs. A very large collection of graphic novels are on hand. Usually they have toy sections as well. If so, they have a collection of the coolest toys ever-LEGO. A lot of other really cool toys are available as well. Great for white elephant gifts and that geeky little kid in your life! Every time I need help there is usually a nerdy, scholastic man or woman ready to help me find the book I'm looking for. Music is also available. CDs (not that people use them anymore) and records. Fight the digital Revolution. Go to a book store, get some coffee, hang out. It's probably a good place to meet someone cool.

Yelp
There's not too many B+N left. I used to go to the one near South Coast Plaza but that one closed. This B+N is located next to the food court at Fashion Island (Yes they have a food court!) and its a 2 story bookstore. While the store is in a high end neighborhood, it does not mean the clientele are all high end. I came here looking for Funko Pops. The boxes have seen better days. Some were missing the bottom, and one was plain empty, as in shop lifted. You would think the merchandise would be in better shape. If you are looking for Funko Pops, skip this place. The variety is dismal. One little boy (unattended by his parent) ran amuck, stepping on toys. The B+N staff member had to tell him to stop stepping on the merchandise. Speaking of staff, this place is understaffed. Sure it was a Tuesday night where it can be slow, but there was one guy taking care of the Music/ Toys/ Discount/ back entrance area. As we queued to pay, there was a customer service issue that took about 10 minutes, and the guy had to wait for someone to come out to assist with the issue.

Yelp
AWFUL SERVICE After waiting for ten minutes downstairs for somebody to help me at customer service or the registers.. I eventually gave up and found the elevator in the corner so I could bring my three month old baby upstairs to try to be helped. After waiting ten minutes in line on the tape they marked on the ground, the girl behind the counter FINALLY finishes the slowest damn checkout I've ever seen, she saw me waiting and said I needed to go to a different line and wait. When I got to the counter in the first place There was only one person in that other line and it very much seemed like they wanted different lines (per the tape on the ground) I informed her I had been waiting longer than any of those people. Eventually I said Fuck this and decided not to give them my business and my daughter and I left after waiting thirty minutes to be helped. Manager: -Tell me why the entire downstairs has NO staff at Christmastime?? -tell me why there are not signs indicating ONE line -tell me why there's tape marking where to stand if you don't want them to wait there -tell me why there NO customer service available

Yelp
I still love to go to the book store. Sad to see so many close. This Barnes and noble had stayed opened though. Can't go to fashion island without checking out the latest books, journals, and magazines. They have even expanded their fandoms with Star Wars, games, and Comic Book character collectors items. What gives it 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of employees and overall customer care. Hard to find anyone on the store floor and often things are not where they are suppose to be section wise. I still love a good book in Hardback.

Yelp
Great place to read a book. Cafe staff are just incompetent most days but today there is a tall lanky kid that wreaked of pot. He just walked by and the whole area is filled with the odor. Absolutely unacceptable.

Yelp
Clean store and very nice setup. The layout of the store makes it easy to find books. They have a nice and sizable bargain section right near the side door on the second floor of the store - definitely recommend checking this section out as there are interesting books and even little knick knacks here. Overall, their staff are fine - they don't particularly stand out as friendly but there weren't any issues either.

Yelp
They have a large selection of damaged funko pop and when I asked a manager asked if they would discount the damaged one is was told the location of even more damaged funko pops . . . . Smh I didn't know you can sell damaged good for full price when they lost half the value when damaged. Totally ignoring the fact I was followed around the store being asked every twelve steps if I need help finding what I was looking for and if I would like to sit what I did have at the counter till I was ready to check out I'm not sure if it's because it's early or my skin color because but no I don't need help every few steps if I wasn't ask the same question repeated by the same manager I could think about what I'm looking for and why would I pay full for a item that was most likely damage buy a careless store associate very disappointed I had better expectations racism still lives

Yelp
Great selection of books for adults and children! Love the layout of the store, easy to navigate and very friendly and helpful store employees! Also its centrally located at Fashion Island, so its fun afterwards to go through the mall!

Yelp
What if books slowly start to phase out and become more of a relic? Ponder on that grave thought. With many of us moving to a paperless and virtual environment, the tangible aspect of documents and publications are getting less popular. All I hear in the office space these days is - "Can you get me a soft copy?" Sad, but possibly a sign of things to come. My niece loves the feel of a book. An object that she can actually hold in her hands, flip the pages, and scribble notes as she deems fit. A printed picture shapes her imagination. A simplistic thought, yet lost in the minds of some people these days. With so many bookstores going out of business and newspapers stopping their printing presses, it's nice to see that Barnes & Noble is still alive and kicking. This location at Fashion Island in Newport Beach is no different. A constant flurry of customers going in and out, busy as ever during the holiday season. It's not too crowded, although it's a bit smaller, but definitely two floors worth of mental and visual goodness. I like it here, I like it here a lot. It's no secret that I like to purchase gifts at Barnes & Noble. Reading is fundamental and I often pair a novel with a nice bottle of wine, as a way to say thank you - you're important in my life. It's an ideal place to shop, since the Barnes & Noble thought process is hell bent on selling more than just reading material - movies, music, toys, games, collectibles, home & gifts, and their ever popular NOOK. For those trapped inside of a cave for the past few years, the NOOK is their version of the e-book reader. With so many items to engage in, my last visit literally consumed over an hour at the bookstore, just rummaging around, touching this, examining that. It isn't like some stores during Christmas, where I often see grown adults fighting for things to buy for their family. Mass hysteria at it's worst. POP! TELEVISION Funko creates miniature figures of your favorite characters from the tube and in cinema. Here's what I would add to my collection. - Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory - Gandalf from the Hobbit - Glenn from the Walking Dead - Boba Fett from Star Wars They also proudly serve Starbucks Coffee in every store, along with standard coffee shop edibles. They're not Starbucks Cafes (regardless of the signs) so don't bring your gift cards. NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION Make a mental note and take more trips to the public library and the bookstore. With the niece and nephew of course =)

Yelp
I rarely pick up a book to read, but walking through this B&N makes me want to pick one up. There is plenty of reading material, they have Starbucks, and you're at Fashion Island. The most beautiful outside mall in CA. B&N has a food court next door if you want more seating after purchasing your book. I'd rather take an ocean view though.

Yelp
There is a clear sign (see photo) that says wait at this location to pick up an order that was made online, and yet I spent several minutes waiting there and being ignored before someone told me to wait in the long line of people making in store purchases instead. Either fix/remove the sign, or serve online pickup orders at the designated location.

Yelp
I was looking for a specific tote at this store. Online it said that the bag was in stock, so I went in the store and couldn't find it. Asked an employee for her help finding this bag, and she told me, "No. That's all the bags we have." Didn't want to help me find it, didn't look in the system, nothing. SO. I ordered it online for pick up at THIS store, and literally an hour later, it's available for pick up. Employees are lazy, rude, and obviously don't want to work or help customers.

Yelp
The bookstore itself is great, with a large selection and friendly staff. I will never take my children here, however, due to the disgustingly dirty toys and play area. I posted some pictures of the "hands on learning" area, where they have a table with lego's. The take itself looks like a child vomited on it, and I doubt it has been cleaned in months. So although the rest of the store is okay, I don't want to buy books or otter items for my children here because I'd rather not have them catch a disease. This store is in Fashion Island, the children's section should really be cleaned and these toys especially should be disinfected every day. I also deducted a star because the cafe always gets my order wrong. I have had to wait an excessive amount of time on four separate occasions, only to have to tell the cashier what I ordered and paid for, because they forgot (with maybe only one or two other people in line at the time).

Yelp
I have loved books all my life - the smell, the experience, and curling up with one at any moment just to read. What's not to love about a great book? I was here recently just to browse while waiting for a friend for lunch. Since I had some time to kill, I spotted this location just across the street and browsed for a little while. It's not that big of a store but they still have ample clearance sections as well as the usual selection of books. I chose a book that I found interesting, found a seat by the window, and took some time to skim through the book. This B&N also has a coffee shop and everything was easy to find. I hope these stores stay open for a while.

Yelp
Conor was excellent in his customer service and we succeed in finding my magazine, "Bella Grace", as well as happily helping with my speedy checkout. Julia also helped me find my magazine and answered all questions I had on the floor. And JULIA WAS MY HERO HELPING ME FIND MY favorite journal with my favorite character on it PIKACHU!

Yelp
The best B&N I've been to- in 3 states! The staff was super helpful with helping me find my next book (I was kind of in a funk after finishing a series) and came to check back with me multiple times! Nice selection, clean store, friendly and open environment to browse around! I will definitely return!

Yelp
In an era where you can basically buy books online the one thing you can provide as a brick and mortar is customer service. I chose to come to this Barnes & Noble to provide income to a brick and mortar. When I arrived I couldn't obviously find the book I was looking for which is in the top 10 best seller list. I asked somebody who worked at the store if they could help me and she told me I could look it up on the computer in the front of the store. I said well can you just point me to the best sellers because that's where it will be? And I was told again to go look it up on the computer. Well if I have to go on my own and look it up on a computer I can easily just buy it on Amazon and have it delivered to my house the next day and not even bother with the 30 minute drive to get here. Just saying.

Yelp
There's a Large cafe area downstairs with chairs & tables. Outlets in the wall for charging laptops. Two floors and vast array of books to choose from. Restrooms on the top floor near the best seller section. ;)

Yelp
Came here with my friend to get some magazines and coffee. The staff were no where to be found when she was looking for a particular book. After about 10 minutes of getting coffee, an employee came by to ask if we needed anything. He helped her locate the book. Nice store within the food court area. Will be back when at the Island.
