Celebrated LA Chef Brings Her Sticky Rice Dumplings to Dallas for One Day Only - Eater Dallas

"Imitation might be the sincerest form of flattery, but a restaurateur in Detroit is accusing new brunch favorite Barney’s Brunch House in Frisco of going too far by copying her restaurant’s name, decor, menu items, and more." - Adele Chapin

Absolutely AMAZING!!! Not only was the food delicious but the service was fantastic.. We took QT outing to Frisco for massages and decided to find a nice brunch spot. When we arrived, we immediately noticed the wait at the door. We chose to go ahead and try it out. Although crowded, the wait was under 10 minutes. Our server Antigone was the sweetest soul! She was very attentive and shared with us the longevity of her career with the restaurant. I ordered Chicken and Waffles. The waffles were very light and tasty. It was the perfect amount of chicken as well. My husband tried the breakfast bowl. It was quite a bit of food so he couldn’t eat it all! I do highly RECOMMEND you try this spot out!!

Google
A very popular place for good brunch. They have quite a variety, mainly around eggs. Brandon, one of the servers, was amazing. Loved his hospitality and warmth. The food was good but the waiting during weekends and occasions is atrocious. They definitely need a better wait listing process. The online adding to wait list doesn't serve much unless you reach the place and personally check in

Google
Father’s Day was awesome here! The atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious—definitely hit the spot. We had a really good time celebrating. One funny moment: my husband asked for a sugar-free coffee, and the waiter straight up said everything has sugar here 😂. So if you’re looking for a healthier, low-sugar option… this might not be your spot lol. But if you’ve got a sweet tooth and want to enjoy a good meal with a fun vibe, this place won’t disappoint!

Google
Nice brunch place. My Benedict was a tad overcooked, but coffee was delicious. It's a cute cafe, and the service was good.

Google
Great food and service. Pancake sampler was outstanding. And our server looked like Chris Pratt’s brother.

Google
Enjoyed our brunch with fresh squeezed orange juice at the counter. Plenty of options to choose and every single dish ordered is mouth watering and par my expectations, super tasty. Crunchy fresh potato chips, warm bread ,pancake , Philly style stake with runny yellow omlate on top.. every omlate is made of three eggs 😍🥰

Google
Philly bowl with pancakes 🥞 😋 👌🏾 it was delicious and I will come back. There was a 20min wait when we got there but we didn't make a reservation, went by fast. Our waitress was really sweet.

Google
Chilaquiles (pictured) were amazing. My wife had huevos rancheros and those were also delicious. Friendly service and great experience.

Yelp
We came to Barney's for the first time for my wife's Birthday. The table was ready, the service was very friendly, the drinks were great, and the food was excellent. The chicken Benny was outstanding. We will be back!

Yelp
Solid food and really great service. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and was really impressed by the gravy. Not too much, not too little and the breading on the steak actually had solid flavor. Pancakes were nothing to write home about, and the other side items were what you'd expect. Solid pricing on everything too and a really cool vibe. I'll be back when I'm in the area!

Yelp
Great food Love the waitlist option Add more flavors of French toast Service and ambiance is nice. Better recipe on chocolate chip pancakes
google avatar

Kelsi D.

Yelp
It was okay, I think brunch has become a little diluted in ingredient choices. More bland I guess I would say. The French toast was great :) Our table ordered breakfast tacos, chicken fried chicken, and the French toast. Our server had great energy and customer service. The food was quick and hot. For ambiance its would be a normal booth diner feel.

Yelp
Pretty good, service was kinda slow but understandable it's was a busy morning. Food was good big servings had to take left overs. I'd probably try a few other brunch places before I come back but wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Yelp
Great Samich!! Can't wait to go try the breakfast . 5 stars Close at 2:30 so get there early!

Yelp
Didn't have a great time here. Our visit started off poorly because we hopped on Yelp's waitlist. I use Yelp's waitlist frequently and after I arrive at the restaurant, you're supposed to check in with the host/hostess and your spot on the waitlist will be no lower than #3. However, Barney's Brunch House has an issue with using the Yelp waitlist correctly because when we arrived, even though we were at #3 on the Yelp waitlist, we got placed down lower on the "real" waitlist once we arrived, completely negating my position on the Yelp waitlist. The other issue was that my wife ordered an omelet that included onions but the onions were crunchy in the omelet. We sent it back to get the onions cooked and after a very long wait, it came back with some softer onions but they were black around the edges. Not planning on coming back here.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot in Frisco! Extensive menu with many options to fulfill that brunch fix! Get there early or join the wait-list. They've got fresh squeezed OJ here. Bacon is the melt in your mouth kind if you go extra crispy. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is an excellent brunch spot in the Frisco area. Great ambiance with modern designs and a very clean and neat seating area. Came in on a Tuesday and there was no wait. Our server was very kind and attentive and offered his perspective on some of the various favorite dishes. The portion sizes are excellent especially for the price point. Two people can easily share a breakfast bowl. The shaved ribeye in the Philly bowl was cooked very tender and was delicious. The biscuits were flaky and buttery. They were a tad bit dry but mixing it with the bowl adds a great component. The cream cheese glaze with the French toast was excellent. Overall, this place is a must visit when searching for brunch in the Dallas area. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Everything is always on point here. Have been to that place several times. Food, vibe and service depends on what day and time of the week you go.
google avatar

Andy P.

Yelp
Best brunch in all of Dallas! Haven't had a bad experience here yet.... Be prepared to wait though. This place is always crowded.

Yelp
Food: Smoked Salmon Toast - The cream dill sauce was overpowering which made the wheat bread soggy. The salmon tasted store brought, very pungent fish smell. The capers were also low quality. We had to send it back. Pancake Sampler - Oreo was alright, Cinnabomb was alright, and the Lemon Poppyseed pancake was our least favorite. Service: The hosts weren't really welcoming. Our server was nice, but it was so busy that she couldn't really keep up. She tried her best to help us since we didn't like one of our dishes. She asked if we wanted something else, but we couldn't find anything else we wanted on the menu. Our server told us that the manager isn't there to give her the code to comp/void the dish and that she texted her. We waited for a long time until we got our check. Nothing wrong with our server-she was very nice, but wished there was a better system that would make it easier for the server which would also increase service performance. Ambiance: Came after church, so it was very busy on a Sunday afternoon which makes sense. It was also dirty. They didn't buss our table fully-one end still had lots of crumbs and drink spots. Under the table had a lot of trash. We looked around and saw that the majority of the restaurant floor was also dirty.

Yelp
Food was OK. I have a gluten-free sensitivity. I ordered the veggie egg omelette and gluten-free pancakes. A couple things to know. Be sure to ask for maple syrup as the server may not understand that if you have to have gluten-free pancakes, you cannot have the house syrup. Almost made that mistake so glad that I asked. The pancakes are not made from scratch. They are a ordered batter and come out pretty basic. I asked because they looked almost like frozen pancakes, but they are made in house. The breakfast was very affordably priced. Service was great!

Yelp
The Apple Pecan Pancake is a 10/10!! Must get! Also love their freshly squeezed orange juice!
google avatar

Jané J.

Yelp
My waitress was warm and attentive throughout my visit. I had the Apple Pecan French Toast with a side of bacon, paired with squeezed orange juice and a mango mimosa. Everything was flavorful and enjoyable!
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
The food was outstanding. Service was great. Our server had a great personality. Plenty of good options here this is a must try for anybody that's wanting to make the drive which we made a 45 minute drive.
google avatar

Sharbani M.

Yelp
So in today's economy $40 for brunch is not bad and that is why I am giving them a three star. Otherwise the food was not fresh, the service was abysmal and the decor was very 2013. The omelette was soggy and lacked taste. My eggs Benedict were ok but I think either the pan they toasted their buns was not clean because the English muffins had a stale taste.

SammyB T.

Yelp
Food was good but not great. Service on the weekdays was unimpressive considering not a lot of customers. Breakfast is a time for warm welcome and friendly service, not a diner.
google avatar

Yelp
my family's favorite brunch spot! the pancake sampler is a must! it's a perfect way to try out a variety of different pancake flavors. Barney's has a great ambiance and the staff is super friendly. The menu has a large variety of options great for the whole family.

Yelp
First time at this spot with my friends celebrating a birthday. The service was good. Our server was very friendly and gave us some great suggestions for drinks and food options since this was our first time there. We all really enjoyed our food and have plans to come for another visit in the near future. The portions were decent, and there were plenty of options to choose from in the menu. Definitely make a reservation on the weekends because they are busy, but service is very prompt.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
This place is overrated. They are not flexible whatsoever. No modifications or substitutions even if you're willing to pay extra. If your kitchen can't keep up then you obviously need new chefs.
google avatar

Cristal Y.

Yelp
There is always a long wait here on the weekends, so try to come early. There is a Tom Thumb close by so you can work up an appetite by walking around before getting called in for your table. The seating is pretty tight, so not sure if it would be stroller friendly. I ordered the gravy omelet and the blueberry pancakes and both were delicious! Full of flavor and decadent. I could only finish half of each dish and ended up taking the rest to go. Ample parking and a cute photo app right outside of the establishment to take photos before getting the food belly :P
google avatar

Matt J.

Yelp
This place is average. The food looks really interesting and the pancakes look nice in photos, but they really don't deliver. It's hard to describe but they just taste cheap and artificial and I didn't enjoy them. Service and pricing are fine. It's a decent place to get breakfast but there's frankly just better options in the area.

Doty L.

Yelp
Lovednthe decor. It's got high ceilings and lots of booths and tables. Place was packed. At least you can join the waitlist from your car. Elle is a great server. She was friendly. Food was served incorrectly the first time, she took the plate back, but when it was returned to me there was an eggshell piece and a jalapeño seed on the ham. Moved them to the side so I could enjoy my meal with my husband.
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful brunch spot with a huge OJ machine. My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed the freshly squeezed OJ! The customer service was very friendly. The inside was spotless with modern & bright decor. We were seated immediately on a late Friday morning. The menu had a lot of choices, neatly categorized by the flavors. I almost always order something sweet for brunch. And I had to get the Fruit Explosion pancakes with cream cheese glaze, accompanied by blackberry glaze. It was immensely satisfying! My husband had the Southern Benny, which was comforting with the gravy & fresh buttermilk biscuit. For our toddler, we got him the kids waffle w/ breakfast sausage & scrambled eggs. The waffle was YUMMY & fluffy! Another bonus is that the foods came out FAST!
google avatar

Delaram M.

Yelp
Great place for a southern brunch. Ordered the Cali Benedict that was great. Not a big fan of the corn beef hash tho
google avatar

Yelp
My experience at Barney's Brunch House on a Saturday afternoon left me with mixed feelings. Despite joining the Yelp waitlist in advance and being 19th in line, the wait ended up being about an hour, which was a bit longer than expected. However, once seated, the food and drinks certainly did not disappoint. The brunch offerings were delicious and satisfying. The ambiance was lively, but unfortunately, the service was slow due to the overwhelming crowd. While the wait and service were drawbacks, the quality of the food and beverages made up for it. I might consider returning in the future, perhaps during a less busy time, to fully enjoy the experience without the long wait.
google avatar

Dharitri B.

Yelp
Food was fresh and tasted yummy whatever we ordered plus ambiance was casual with so much rush . I put my name in waiting list 1 hour before arrival & service and as good & fast with less waiting and quicker turnover.
google avatar

Yelp
1st time eating Here. The food is wonderful and the service was great too. You definitely get your money's worth.
google avatar

Morgan R.

Yelp
We've gone grocery shopping in this strip and have seen the long wait at this place. We decided to check it out on Friday morning. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. Even for a weekday the place was busy, but they never made you feel rushed. We ve added this to our breakfast spots... especially since they had great mimosas!
google avatar

Kaye C.

Yelp
Our first visit was on a Saturday morning and when I added our name to the waitlist, we were number 19 and I was worried it would be a huge wait, but they did a great jib getting us seated quickly. I love that you can watch the waitlist in real time. The food here was incredible! Very fresh, very tasty. prices were a but on the high side...think $13-14 for a breakfast plate. The pancakes were fabulous. Unfortunately, the service was pretty bad. she forgot drinks, sides, and was just generally unfriendly especially compared to the hostess who was super sweet. It will not keep us from trying again since the food really was wonderful, but hopefully we will get a better server.
google avatar

Leo M.

Yelp
Food was good the pancake sampler was nice too choose 3 different flavors. The place was nice a little out of my area but if you live near be sure to give it a try. The only negative I would give would be service was little slow for my liking
google avatar

Lance W.

Yelp
Wow! Amazing Brunch. I had Chicken Fried Steak. Came out perfect and was absolutely wonderful. Looking forward to eating here again
google avatar

Cosmo F.

Yelp
the service is so slow, the food is good, the ambience is nice and modern, bathroom floor is super sticky, oh my god, do it right, hire a new janitor or something, and also the orange juice is good.

Yelp
First visit and we loved the food!! We had the chocolate banana bread french toast that was on special. It was divine! Delicious voodoo benny. My husband had a bloody mary that was also great!
google avatar

Fran S.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere and we sat at the bar. The bartender was super nice. I had their little latte that had a cute little coffee bear in it. I had the chicken sandwich which was delicious and my husband had the special of the day the lobster omelette which came with a free champagne, we will definitely be back

Tyler S.

Yelp
Sooooo goood!! Got the country omelette and loved it! The pancake sampler is a must try! Loved the red velvet Oreo and Cinnabomb! Great place to eat brunch!

Jayna G.

Yelp
The food was amazing! I ordered off menu a bit and they were super accommodating! Our waiter, Carlos Luis was superb! We lacked for nothing. Kudos to management as this restaurant is on point!! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience
google avatar

Cheryl L.

Yelp
Got the pesto Benedict and the salmon Benedict. The food was delicious and I look forward to trying more of their other specialties. The service was excellent. My coffee was always warm and she was informative and patient cause I was visiting a friend. Family oriented clean ambiance. Bathroom superb.
google avatar

Ashley T.

Yelp
Very friendly service and nice decor. The food was kind of sad. Let me explain. Brought my chef friend here who is visiting from out of town. Obviously we love to eat and I was looking for a good lunch spot in the area. We love chicken fried steak so came here. He got the chicken fried steak which looked dry as the Sahara and he said it was awful. I had considered the chicken sandwich but the waiter kindly suggested that their chicken was a bit dry so that info helped me decide to just have breakfast- how can you go wrong with bacon eggs and gluten free pancakes. Well the pancakes were fine but the sausage was like a hockey puck and the eggs were- not even kind of yummy. Maybe if I added salt. No still not even. It's cute inside but don't expect anything better than ihop- wish we had just gone there. At least you know what you're getting.
google avatar

Yelp
Barney's Brunch House is a favorite! My husband and I have been many times! The cocktails are flavorful, the coffee is good and the food is fabulous. I've never had a dish that left me disappointed. The Southern Benny, Heavenly Hash or the Meat lovers Omelet are all favorites. Check in via Yelp before you leave the house because it's a wait to eat here but you won't regret it!
google avatar

Tracey G.

Yelp
Sorry Folks, I was so excited to eat that I forgot the pictures! Barneys is fantastic! It's small but inviting. Be prepared to wait. My go to for breakfast is biscuits and gravy and theirs dis not disappoint! The biscuits were good size, light and fluffy. The gravy was well seasoned and the perfect proportion to the biscuits. The service was fast, friendly and attentive! Perfect place for brunch!
google avatar

Alyssa B.

Yelp
Amazing food!! Very fast service. Super cute location. Decorated well. Very clean. The only thing that annoyed us was how many times we were asked if they can take our plates..... we felt rushed.
google avatar

Kristina R.

Yelp
When we first walked into the restaurant, we were surprised at how stinkin' adorable it was! The light colors, plus already having been decked out for the holidays, really made for a nice atmosphere. Drinks: They have a pretty good drink menu - boozy brunch drinks and coffees. We opted to try their pumpkin spice latte from their fall menu, and WOW - let's just say we each ordered 2 of those bad boys because they were so good. Plus, they came with a little biscoff cookie for a nice touch. Food: Now here's where the real party started. We ordered the "Chicken Benny" and the "Sweet Tooth Combo" with the "Cinnabomb" pancake, eggs over medium, and apple chicken sausage. The Chicken Benny was constructed on mini waffles, complete with fried chicken, poached eggs, and jalapeno cream gravy and hash browns - it was SO good and had a nice kick to it. Maple syrup was served on the side to compliment the spice. Plus, the hash browns were perfectly crispy and not too greasy The Sweet Tooth Combo was good as well. You can choose pancakes, waffles, or French toast as the "sweet" entree. If you love cinnamon, definitely try the cinnabomb pancake as it was perfectly cinnamon-y, super fluffy (I thought I had 3 pancakes in my stack because of how thick they were!), and had just enough of the sweet cream cheese glaze that you didn't really need the maple syrup. Run, run, run to this place if you've never been! We are DEFINITELY coming back! Highly recommend getting on their wait list prior to heading that way, as they can get pretty busy on weekends (we now know why!)
google avatar

Breonna B.

Yelp
10/10 food, service, ambiance is always great! i love coming here. I will say if you go on a weekend maybe think about adding yourself to the waitlist, they can get a little busy!

Yelp
I came from out of town to surprise my sister for her birthday. I understand that this is her and her husband's favorite breakfast/brunch hangout. After the surprise was a complete success, we proceeded to sit and converse and eat. The food came quickly, it was hot, and it was VERY good! I read the reviews before I got there so I expected great service and great food! They did NOT disappoint! I decided on the chicken fried steak. My only complaint was review I read that stated it was a breaded rib eye...the lies! More like a breaded cube steak, but it was still good. I had a side of griefs and over medium eggs with sourdough toast. The atmosphere was quiet, except for us having a birthday celebration and catching up with family we hadn't seen in a while. They close at 2:00pm and we almost closed the place down. lol Spoke with the hostess before we left and she was the absolute sweetest. I will be going back during my next visit!
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
Super cute, modern , instagrammable spot. So many good choices, the most gluten free options I have had in 1 place. The cocktails are next level. Beautiful presentation, lots of mimosa choices also. Hack...get on the waitlist before you get there. It's worth the wait. The food and service are stellar.
google avatar

Tina K.

Yelp
Barney's has maintained their quality which is great. Today we went for a breakfast, as always there was a long waitlist. It's always good to join the wait list on yelp. I felt like portion sizes were decent. My little one absolutely loved the teddy pancakes.
google avatar

Brad N.

Yelp
Barney's is a favorite brunch spot for my wife and I. We've been frequenting this place for a few years now, and it's reliably good every time. I've had an assortment of dishes, but my favorites that I keep coming back to are the bennies. In addition to the traditional offering, which is done well, the Voodoo Bennie is a great choice, featuring chorizo and tangy salsa verde. If you're hankering for a biscuit, the Southern Bennie will scratch that itch and net you some tasty sausage as well. Breakfast bowls are also a strong offering; my only issue here and frankly, with most places, is that I have to request backing off on the quantity of hash browns and having them cooked well done. This request is always honored and the resulting bowls are delicious. The Southwest bowl is probably my favorite (which, along with the Voodoo Bennie suggests that I have a "type" in my brunch likes :) ) For adult beverages, Barney's has you covered with the classics. Spicy bloody mary is my go-to, but they're all quite tasty. Mimosas are made with fresh squeezed orange juice (in fact, they have a fascinating machine that you can watch in action as it cuts and squeezes the oranges). If there's a weak point here, it's with the coffee; they serve Segafredo, which, honestly, I don't like anywhere, and the espresso based drinks aren't that exciting, either, Having said that, you don't come for the coffee, really; a cup with your brunch will do fine, it just won't be something you think about for the rest of the day. Finally, make sure you get on the Yelp wait list prior to arrival; there's always a wait, and you'll be able walk in and be seated like a VIP if you work the list beforehand. It's a great place, worth visiting again and again.
