This barbecue easily exceeds anything I've had in the Northeast for the last several years. I got a three meat combo with kielbasa, 1/4 rack of ribs, and 1/4 chicken. My sides were red skin potato salad and cornbread. The kielbasa was essentially perfect, with a snappy, salty casing and spiced, moist filling. The ribs were similarly excellent: deeply smoky, hearty yet incredibly tender. The chicken, while quite flavorful, was unfortunately a little bit dry. The good news is that everything else on my plate was so good that I really didn't care. On that note, the cornbread was a great density and the potato salad was quite good as well. Pricing is reasonable for what you get and the service was prompt and friendly. Since I hike in the area every once in awhile, I absolutely plan on returning. This was such a treat.

Google
We were pleased to find this BBQ joint open on a Monday night. My daughter enjoyed the beef brisket, my husband had quarter chicken, my son ate all his mac & cheese, and I was happy to have seafood options. I enjoyed the blackened salmon, corn bread, and collard greens. The staff was very friendly. We would like to try their Sunday brunch next time.

Google
I can’t recommend this place enough. I’ve been coming here every time I’m in the area since I discovered this place almost over 8 years ago!! This place is nothing but good. Good ingredients, good portions, good food and good people. Highly recommended especially after some hiking hunger. Thank you so much for serving us all these years, will always take a stop by when we’re in town :)

Google
The meat was really dry. We got the brisket and the ribs, and both were on the hard and dry side to the point where it was a little hard to eat. Flavor was fine, the sweet potato fries were crispy, the cornbread was great, it's just a shame the meat wasn't juicier. Atmosphere and staff were great. Definitely not worth the 4.5 star rating though, sorry, please improve your meat.

Google
My husband and I love BBQ. We happened to stumble across here while out. It was by far the absolute best food we have had. Flavors were amazing! We cannot wait to go back.

Google
The bbq is unbelievably delicious. Especially those ribs. I’m normally not a rib fan but they really hit the home run with this. Randomly drove by this place on the way. So glad I made the stop. You’d taste the smokiness of the meat even through all that delicious sauce. 10/10 would recommend!!!

Google
Spent the afternoon at Bear Mountain and wanted to stop for dinner before heading home. If you like BBQ and you're in the area stop at Barnstormer. The best ribs I've had in a long time. I sampled the 1/4 chicken too. The sides are generous and I sampled the fries, sweet potato fries, coleslaw, and cornbread. I recommend all and which I sampled more.

Google
Always saw this place driving to and from West Point for athletic events. Finally decided to try it and had the Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich. It was amazing. I talked with one of the owners (?) who gave me the backstory on how he got the recipe and made it for the menu. Very attentive and warm staff. Made for a great experience and left very satisfied! Will come back again.

Yelp
Lindsey was excellent as well as krista love the food and love the service will definitely come back again

Yelp
BB's is a solid BBQ experience. I've earn there a few time over the years whenever I'm in the West Point area and it never disappoints. People are friendly. Prices reasonable, and location easy to find.

Yelp
Everything is on point every time. Jeff and his wife and the whole team are amazing. Best bbq in the northeast by far. Try the smoked wings !

Yelp
We came here after a hike at Bear Mountain nearby and could not have chosen a better place. We ordered the 3 meats combo which came with two sides. The meats we chose were brisket, 1/4 rack of ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. Everything was tender! The meats were all so flavorful. The two sides we got were French fries and potato salad. The fries were good but I wasn't a fan of the potato salad. It was a little bland. We had no wait for a weekend. There were many open tables. The service was amazing. The BBQ master came to check on us and gave us suggestions of what to order. Everyone was so friendly. I can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
Great food and service. Diverse menu of all things meat and barbque. Very casual atmosphere.

Yelp
Went here for dinner while visiting Westpoint. This is a bar type setting. The service is very casual. Had a 1/2 slab pork wet w mac&cheese and coleslaw. The food was great BBQ food and it came out at a good pace. I went here for dinner while visiting Westpoint. This is a bar-type setting, and the service is very casual. I had a half slab of pork wet with mac and cheese and coleslaw. The food was good BBQ, but service was lacking.

Yelp
Came here after hiking Bear Mountain, we had to wait a bit because they open pretty late for a Saturday (1PM). Once they opened the parking lot was almost nearly full and there were several large parties dining. I got the 1/4 white chicken with cheesy grits and collard greens. The collards greens were really good but the grits and chicken fell flat. The chicken was a bit dry and lacked flavor, Costco rotisserie chicken is better IMO. My bf got the pulled pork, chicken, kielbasa, potato salad, and chili. The pulled pork and kielbasa were significantly better than the chicken, would recommend getting non-chicken protein options however the potato salad was just okay. Having tried southern cuisine and Texan bbq this place does not compare but I guess it's good for the area. We were asked to move our seats to make room for a bigger party and they gave us a discount for the inconvenience which I appreciated!

Yelp
pretty decent BBQ place near west point. We love their smoked wings and potato skins. Decent service, but could be slow at times. Friendly staff. Would recommend !

Yelp
table was sticky. took 10 min before someone came to our table. waitress walked by several times but apparently didn't have our so didn't even say hello, welcome in or someone will be by shortly. prices are very high for such a dumpy place. 2 meat combo at $25! We had to ask not to have BBQ Sauce ON the food from the kitchen. This seems to be a sign that kitchens are trying to cover up dry meat. we asked for our with sauce on the side and they were willing. Chicken leg and thigh was small enough to look like a hen and not a chicken. It was pretty good but even though it was dark meat, it was a bit dried out. Ribs were more dried out. They both seemed like they had just been in the MICROWAVE. Half was cooked properly, small end was dried out and tough. Waiter ensures us they don't use "Chef Mike" but these items were worth sending back but because we were hungry and in a rush, we suffered through. grits had a bunch of lumps in them. daughter thought wings were good. Broccoli was properly cooked but lacked any seasoning. they took 25% off but we wish we had not come here.

Yelp
Stopped by here after visiting Bear Mountain nearby.. I came midday so it was kinda of empty and easy to find parking. The waiter greeted me immediately and brought me an iced water without being asked! Alot of ppl order the "pig out" which seems like a great deal because you get an assortment of meats but I couldn't finish all of that, so I chose the ribs. The food came out pretty quickly. The ribs tasted amazing.. very well flavored and you get extra bbq sauce on the side if you want more. The fries were so crispy and perfectly salted! The Cole slaw was creamy and pretty good too (this is coming from a person who doesn't even like Cole slaw). Very relaxing ambiance, all the workers are very nice. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area!

Yelp
I have passed this place many times and always wanted to stop in and try it. There are little to no good BBQ places in or around Rockland county NY where I live so I figured I would check out their fare. I wish I had read the reviews first I may have skipped it. Service slow to poor, Food overpriced, boring to bad, Ambiance dingy to dirty. The place is not the cleanest or nicest decor but it's a roadside BBQ joint and that's to be expected. They have no paper menus which is annoying and doesn't make sense because the place is so small and not at all in need of it since they still take your order by hand and guess what? They got our order wrong and there were only four customers in the place the three others had their food HMMM??? The food was basically flavorless the equivalent of reheated bar food. If the prices were considerably lower and the food slightly more edible I would so try it if you're desperate. I am so disappointed because I really wanted to discover a hidden gem but alas still no good BBQ in the Hudson Valley region of NY.

Yelp
Saw the reviews online was super excited. Place is self has a cool, rustic vibe. But the food was not good.. Sides Macaroni cheese 2/10 (not mac and cheese) Cornbread 6/10 average Pickles and cucumbers 7/10 Beans 7/10 Mains Chicken 7/10 Ribs 2/10 (we're not cooked properly and cleaned) Sausage 6/10 Brisket 1/10 this is not brisket at all Fish 6/10 was dry. Bbq sauce was ok 6/10 To be honest, everyone was eating burgers, we wish we also got burgers. Perhaps that would increase my reading, but for the barbecue portion I would skip

Yelp
Recently moved to the area and decided to check out Barnstormer BBQ. Shared the 'Pig Out' BBQ platter and had the smoked wings as an appetizer--it was absolutely delicious! The portions were generous, making it not only a great value but also perfect for leftovers (which were just as good the next day). I also recently attended their Brunch with Santa event with my 8 month old, and it was such a special experience. The breakfast buffet was so homey and comforting--just what you want on a Sunday morning. They advertise that they have breakfast brunch regularly on the weekends, I'll definitely come back! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and I'm excited to explore more of their menu soon. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Good food at reasonable prices. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. It's a cozy little spot. The ribs were flavorful and juicy, and the beans and mac were spot on. Thanks, y'all!

Yelp
Wanted to try here after missing my chance to try them back in the day when they were in Newburgh. Staff is incredibly friendly and polite, though out the whole meal, they keep asking I needed anything and how was the food, even the pitmaster/chef as well-made rounds to ensure we enjoyed the meal. The kielbasa was so good, the skin was crispy and snapped when biting it and love the char on it. The pork ribs, i did like, but more of a fan of a wet BBQ rub then a dry rub, i will say those ribs were very meaty, definitely did not ribs that too fatty. Waffle fries were perfect, so well-seasoned and very crispy, could not stop eating them. Cornbread was amazing, it was that homecooked crumby texture, since many places make cornbread too much like a cake, this place is perfect with them. overall great BBQ and very generous portions, my meal was big enough to have three meal portions. Haha.

Yelp
worth crossing the bridge from Peekskill for. Everything is great, but the pork is really special.

Yelp
No reservations for this place, but it was fine as we went at a non-traditional time. I went based off of all the reviews. It was so good! I recommend this place if you're in the area. It isn't high class but just very casual. Just know that you should come ready to EAT! First walk-in and you're greeted by someone who welcomes you inside and asks where you would like to sit down. Instead of menus there is a qr code for you to scan with your phone. They ask right away what you would like to drink and get it for you right away. Utensils with napkins are given separately after you order. There was so much to choose from on the menu. But after a bit we chose the pig out special which included chicken, pulled pork, kielbasa, spare ribs, beef brisket, corn bread, and two sides. They said that it should be enough for two people but we couldn't finish everything. It came with two sides so the mac n cheese and the red skin potato salad were chosen. Both were so good we ate all of the sides. Out of the meats that were given my favorite was the chicken and the kielbasa. All in all if I was in the area again I would go back. I gave it four stars due to the bathroom being a tad bit dirty.

Yelp
Returned for a visit almost 3 years later. Our group got 2 pig out platters, which is a good variety of the bbq specialties and sides. Ours had ribs, chicken, brisket, pulled pork, kielbasa, onion rings, cornbread and cheesy grits (you choose 2 sides). Favorite meats were kielbasa, brisket, and ribs - all pull apart tender and flavorful. Pulled pork and chicken were on the dry side especially the breast meat which was in the other meal (I suggest requesting the thigh). Enjoyed the onion rings but the cheesy grits were on the bland side, and heard the same from the mac and cheese which I had reviewed last time. Cornbread was moist but small. This is a big meal, even for 2. We had quite a few leftovers, enough for another meal. To feed 4 people with these, it costed just over $100 with a 20% tip. Asked for extra bbq sauce and they were very generous. Pretty good bbq to have in the food desert around West Point.

Yelp
Everything was wonderful... the reception the ambiance service and food were exemplary... two thumps up and we plan to revisit

Yelp
Excellent food, good service , jest need more parking . Well that said it all good it well worth finding a spot. Excellent you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Was looking for a good BBQ place coming from Monroe NY. Found the spot online so decided to try it out. Must say.. is official. Want good smoked BBQ chicken or Brisket? Here's the spot. Sweat potato fries should be illegal. Super good. Enjoy!

Alice K.

Yelp
I had a party of 5 and we enjoyed the food after a long hike on bear mountain. The fries were great, the pulled pork wasn't too bad. Overall the meal was decent as we were all starving! 20% tip was included but we didn't mind. What we got: Pig out with coleslaw and mac and cheese - sausage tasted like a salty hotdog, chicken was super dry Potato wedges- looked better than it tastes Fries- really good shoe string styled fries Wings- not the best Pulled pork 1/2 lb- best part of the big out

Saha S.

Yelp
highly recommend this place. i came into this place with my partner, matthew last sunday and it was a great experience. the half order of nachos with pork, the ribs and the chicken was awesome. this time, we got the pork pulled sandwich and the spicy chicken sandwich with wings and again the half nachos. the food was awesome and 100% delicious. besides the food, the hospitality was great. i loved the servers and management. big shoutout to the owner, jeff, he was a sweetheart and made our experience memorable. we'll be back whenever we're in the area.

Yelp
OK, we're native southerners and, rightly or wrongly, carry doubts about BBQ joints outside of that region. We've enjoyed a few good barbecue treats in unlikely places in New England, but our skepticism is healthy. Even so, we were delighted to try Barnstormer when we were staying in the area recently. It's run by some nice folks, and it has a loose, casual vibe with pleasant servers and a menu you need a QR code reader to peruse. That's never been a thrill, but it is what it is. We decided to try a lot of the sides since they reflect a southerner's food biases: mac n' cheese, collards, rice, cheesy grits, slaw, cornbread. You get the idea. The results weren't awful, but they weren't anything close to memorable either. The grits had a good texture (a rare achievement for New England cooks) but nothing else. The collards were pretty tasty if kind of undercooked. The Mac n' cheese was actually cheese and pasta shells (???) which was peculiar, though the cheese was good. The rest was ... well, edible. And no, we didn't sample the bbq, so you can take our comments with a big "if." We give the folks here credit for a good try though the results left us lacking.

Yelp
Breakfast was excellent. We especially liked the breakfast potatoes. Restaurant is clean and staff are friendly. Will definitely be back for the BBQ!

Yelp
Came here after a hike around 2:45pm and had a great time, got seated right away. Covid dining set up was spacious and clean. Attentive staff. The portions were huge! Worried that the two of us couldn't finish a full rack, brisket, and kielbasa but we ended up crushing that along with their sides. Was a bit disappointed with there Mac & Cheese, was missing the cheesy goodness and congealed together. But the beans, coleslaw and sweet potato french fries were on point and paired so well with their ribs.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant, plenty of parking, food is incredible, awesome BBQ. Definitely the best wings around and the chef comes out and makes sure you like the food. Friendly staff, spotless clean. Great place
google avatar

Yelp
This was a takeout order during COVID** Was excited for some bbq after a long hike. I asked how long it would take and the estimate was off by 10 min late. The bag was poorly packaged with all the sticky juices all over my bag, spoiled my napkins, and sanitary wipes. Ordered the North Carolina without the bun. The sauce was wayyy to sour and no taste to the cold slaw on it. Sadly did not enjoy my meal. The side of tomato cucumber salad was bomb. Only one server on the job hustling in and out of the establishment and delivering straight to your car, ring up inside, and then back out.
google avatar

Sharon W.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much from the road but the reviews were good and we were hungry. Once inside we were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated. The menu was small but good!" We both opted for half rack of wet ribs, slaw and I chose corn bread while my friend had fries. Barbecue sauce on the table was a good addition.
google avatar

Shaoli G.

Yelp
Barnstormer is my go-to bbq in the area! I always get the same thing... the brisket sandwich, which is freakin' delicious, and sweet potato fries that I dip in their chunky blue cheese. Don't knock it until you try it. Now that you know my kind of weird order, you may take this review less seriously. Very valid. However, visiting friends who I take here love this place and swear that it's the best BBQ place ever, and I have to agree.

Bob K.

Yelp
Happened to be staying next door in the Holiday Inn and was pointed this way by the front desk. Ordered the Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich with sides of Cole slaw and collard greens. I loved the flavors of all 3 and especially the pulled pork and the collard greens. I liked the Cole slaw too because it was clean, not a lot of mayo. I washed my meal down with a perfectly poured Guinness at a temperature that made me think they take pride in what they do here. I doubt I will be back any time soon since I'm not a local. But if I am I will come here again! Strong recommendation!!!
google avatar

Ferdinand C.

Yelp
Great tasting bbq for this region I had the appetizer Korean bbq wings & the 3 meat combo all plates were good the collard greens could've been a bit more hotter yes this a comeback w/ family & friends the sweet tea is also good just ask for the lemon wedge. Service from the team tip top no problems the only thing I see bad was the parking situation but when the food is good & and portions & price are correct expect ANY restaurant to have a parking problem which enforces what I mentioned earlier.
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
Three meat combo $23.50: beef brisket, half chicken, half rack of ribs With two sides: corn bread and potato salad 8 oz. char grilled hamburger- served with our creamy coleslaw and choice of one side $10.50 Extremely juicy burger well cooked as I love holding and squeezing it with my hands which the natural juices dripped onto my plate. Unfortunately, the burger was not accompanied with lettuce, tomato and no pickle. I added Swiss cheese to my burger by choice. I was never a fan of coleslaw. Sweet ice tea $3.25 was entirely too sweet. Left Hand Milk $7 Milk Stout Nitro for my friend is very dark but yum for sweet stout style beer. Service is attentive as my party of three were promptly seated and served. Facilites are relatively clean. Ample parking space. This barbeque has a diner look. This business name is also dba as "Pineapple's Steakhouse" as it appears on the bill.

Yelp
We stopped in after a West Point hockey game. It's less than ten minutes from campus. Walked in the door and got hit with the smokey sweet smell of barbecue. Then saw a bunch of older guys with pot bellies and Rip Van Winkle beards chowing down. These are signs of a good barbecue joint. They seated us right away. The friendly waitress stopped over to introduce herself and take our drink order. After she dropped off our drinks, she took our dinner order. We asked a few questions. She took her time answering our questions and making suggestions. While we were waiting for our food, another waiter walked past and asked if he could get us drink refills. That's another sign of a good restaurant. Everyone on the wait staff is friendly, and they cover each other's tables. The food arrived. We were all impressed with the generous size portions. The food was great. Fresh, juicy, and the right balance of sweet, smoky, and spicy. Prices are reasonable. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Eat here regularly when don't wish to travel far. While I rate the ribs as satisfactory, they are certainly fatty. The blacked catfish, on the other hand, is quite good.

Yelp
Fried cajun Chicken sandwich homemade pickles baked beans , Asparagus and a cider . Yummy

Yelp
Nice local place. Good bbq good, good atmosphere. Lots of local teen groups dining. Close early so not to wild of a scene. We came with the family and had a nice time. Good kids menu too. Win win!

Yelp
The fois was good. We got full in appetizers unfortunately and couldn't finish our main dishes. The menu isn't busy, easy to order. The place wasn't very loud and I like that there was enough room that we didn't feel cramped when we sat down. The waitresses were attentive, the atmosphere was as if we were at a family BBQ. I liked that as well, It ides have a bar with a TV for those who want to play the bar and eat or maybe just drink. We went at night and I didn't notice outside seating so I'm really not sure about that. All together it was a cool spot. Can't say anything bad about it, that's for sure. For me, it was a nice time. I would visit them again, and would suggest to anyone in the Bear Mt. Area to give it a shot! Cheers.

Yelp
Great place and awesome staff. Family owned and very friendly. Portions are more than plenty

Yelp
Family road trip through New York, spending a few days at West Point. Our last night here, and we decided to give Barnstormer a try. It proved to be a great decision. My and I shared the Pig Out, and it was awesome. All the meats were awesome, and the Mac and cheese and the collard greens were great. The owner, Jeff, came by our table and spoke to us for a while. Very hospitable, and help make this a great experience for our family. Would highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Big portions. Had the 3 meat combo. Chicken, ribs, brisket with beans, Mac and cheese. Add cornbread The service is fast and super friendly! The brisket and ribs had great flavor and tenderness. The chicken was too far done to be eaten. Notified staff and they removed it from the bill. Not saying it is that way all the time. Just an off day perhaps. The cornbread is sweat enough to be corn cake and it was delicious also. Mac and cheese should not use pasta shells imo. $$-$$$ but that may just be the going rate.
google avatar

Steven T.

Yelp
This is a small cozy restaurant that is 5 minutes away from Bear Mountain. My wife and I shared the ribs and chicken combo that comes with 2 sides for $28. I actually really enjoyed the sweet smoky bbq flavor of their ribs and chicken. But I couldn't forgive how dry the meat was. Some pieces were so tough I could barely chew it. The fries were good, as well as the Mac and cheese. Service was quite slow even though it did not seem busy. But I didn't knock off 2 stars for that. I just came to eat. I just hate dry food. I am not a dog.

James S.

Yelp
I am tough on Barbecue places put wow this place impressed me. Great smoke flavor and did not have to go crazy on sauces. Had a 1/2 rack of ribs, cornbread, cucumber and tomato salad, and a bowl of collard greens. Service was always checking on you. I definitely feel you will be well taken care of.

Melanie M.

Yelp
Great Place!! Excellent BBQ! Sauce is amazing! Healthy portions with a delicious selection of sides. Coleslaw is perfection, highly recommend! Staff is attentive and friendly. The owner will even come out to ask how everything is. Don't miss out on this! Stop by if your driving past or come out of your way to try it. It's worth the ride!

Yelp
Who would think that you could find a decent BBQ place in a little town like Ft Montgomery, NY? We were there for a wedding (at West Point) and practically filled the Holiday Inn Express located right behind Barnstormer. I had the Carolina BBQ sandwich and it was excellent but the sweet potato fries were awesome. Not too greasy and just crispy enough. Another in my party had the BBQ Pork sandwich which he said was also excellent. Since I tried his regular fries I can tell you they were also excellent! No 5 star rating until I visit again, which I will. The hotel needs to work out some kind of deal with Barnstormers since they really have a captive audience. One negative is the "parking lot" in front of the restaurant - definitely too small. Try it, you will definitely like it!

Jane W.

Yelp
Friendly, efficient staff and great food. Full bar available too. Close to hiker friendly hotels - Holiday Inn Express and Bear Mountain Bridge motel.

Yelp
I came to Bear Mountain to look at the leaves change and on the drive up, I got hungry. I searched yelp for a place with great reviews and this place came up. There is ample parking. It looks small from the outside but huge inside. It has a very homey feel to it. They accept credit and cash. They have a bar. This is a very casual family restaurant. The service was a bit slow. But friendly, if that makes any sense. The food was delicious despite its mehhh presentation. Get the wings!! They are smoked and taste amazing with the mild sauce and homemade blue cheese ranch mix. The 1/4 chicken combo that I ordered was delicious. The portions were pretty big. The Smoked BBQ Breast and Wing (juicy and tender) The cornbread was sweet and not overly dry. The Mac N Cheese was good, could have been better if they had baked it but still yummy. If I come back this week way? I'll eat here again. The friendly service and delicious homemade food made this place a winner.

Yelp
Came to the mountain for a weekend getaway with the wife. This one was one of the few places opened, so gave it a shot. Oh boy. We will be coming back! THE RIBS. So delicious my mouth is watering as I'm typing this in bed (going to have to get a snack now). Sweet sweet memories I have of those beautiful moments. The server was extremely cool vibes only. Super chill dude. I asked and I received. 10/10

Yelp
First time visitor. Decided to stop in and see what it is like. Simply place inside. Green and white table clothes. I like the roll of paper towels on each table. I get that. BBQ sauce can always use paper towels. However good BBQ sauce is always finger licking good. Light easy listening music softly in the air. And a good aroma breezing by my nose in the air. Hope it taste as good as it smell. I got the BBQ chicken & swiss with baked beans and salad. The chicken sandwich was cooked perfectly. Juicy, thick and very tasty. No good BBQ establishment can survive without tasty baked beans. And the beans here hit the spot. Very impressed. I got a hug treat out of the cucumber and tomato salad was very good. The dressing they use its very good. Only complaint if wish to call it one. Is the sprite was flat. But the water was fine in the end. If in this area again. I can see myself returning to this reasonably priced place.
