Had a really lovely brunch here on Friday morning. When we arrived (around 10.30) there was a short queue but we only had to wait about 10/15 minutes so don’t be put off by it! The menus were great, they featured a lot of healthy options as well as some classics. They also had a separate menu just for coffee and my oat flat white was definitely one of the better coffees I’ve had in Italy! I had the avocado toast and my partner had the pulled pork bagel. Both were amazing and I even grabbed a croissant to take away as the pastries all looked so good (they were!)

Google
This place certainly lived up to its wonderful reputation. Enjoyed breakfast here twice while visiting Rome. The second day, we did have to wait 15mins for a table. The service was super friendly and they kept us up do date every 5mins as to the table situation. The food was AMAZING! Everything we ordered was delicious and super tasty. Highly recommend!

Barnum is a great spot for a full, healthy breakfast—with plenty of delicious options to choose from. It’s a popular place, so expect a bit of a wait (we waited about 20–25 minutes to be seated), but the line moves quickly and it’s definitely worth it. We ordered the classic scrambled eggs with bacon, avocado toast with salmon, a cappuccino, pineapple juice, and a pain au chocolat. Everything was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that kept us full for half the day. The food came out quickly—within 5–10 minutes of ordering. The terrace is decent, though it’s right on the street, and the queue of people waiting is just next to it—something to keep in min. The coffee is excellent—many people stop by just for takeaway. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a satisfying and tasty breakfast.

Google
Barnum Roma is hands down the best specialty coffee spot in Rome. I’ve tried many coffee places in the city, but nothing compares to the quality and taste here. They also have the best croissants I’ve had in Rome. The food is just as impressive. I’ve had their club sandwich and avocado toast with scrambled eggs—both were delicious. My friend had the English breakfast and really enjoyed it. It’s my go-to spot for breakfast and brunch. It gets busy on weekends, and there’s often a line outside, but it moves quickly and the wait is never more than 15 minutes. The owner is always outside organizing tables, which shows how much he cares. He’s a genuinely good person—humble, kind, and professional. The staff are all friendly, smiling, and make you feel right at home. I highly recommend this place to any coffee lover looking for great service and amazing coffee.

Sabrina

Google
One of the better cafes in Rome! It’s a small place so it can get filled up pretty quickly, especially on the weekends. We took our stuff to-go, but the line usually moves fairly quickly (usually not more than 20-25 minutes). The coffee is great, and their pastries are so well laminated—they are AMAZING. We tried the fruit danish and pistachio croissant. Add this place to your list!

Google
What a great place. I can tell why it's so popular. We honestly didn't have to wait very long at all to get a table and either outside or in the restaurant is very comfortable. We sat inside and had a wonderful waitress. Very sweet and helpful. We tried everything and left extremely satisfied.

Danielle Maddox

Google
Don't skip on the pastries because they are top notch! Their Kouign Amann was one the best I've had. But really this is the best place to get your breakfast on in Rome, if you crave more of your American breakfast and love a good cold brew of course. It's fresh, good portions, and quick. Be prepared to wait a bit for a table if you come later in the morning. Everyone is really friendly - and the bathroom has a toilet seat yay!

Elaine Suchak

Google
Breakfast was quick to come after ordering. The food was yummy! The omelet was perfect as is… no condiments needed! And the coffee caramel syrup for the pancakes was fire! It gets really packed for a reason! Our server Ali was amazing!

Yelp
Excellent brunch food, cappuccino and espresso. Service was excellent as well. The only downside was a 20 minute wait to be seated.
google avatar

Shruti J.

Yelp
There is always a wait here but the line moves quick. We lined up (by we I mean my husband stood in line while I went to at all the boutiques in the lane) and got a table in 20 minutes. Got the coffee, croissant, strawberry danish and breakfast platter - everything was brilliant! Their croissants are comparable to the ones I've had in Paris and rightly so because they get their ingredients from France. The danish was to die for - probably the best bread and cheese together with the perfect strawberries - ah! The breakfast plate came with hash browns and veggies - those were delicious too! My husband is not a veggie person but he devoured them. Highly recommend this place for breakfast when in Rome.

Yelp
One of the best breakfasts in the heart of Rome. If you're looking for something g more hearty than a pastry, look no further. They had a great selection of toasts, egg dishes, pastries, coffees, and sweets for you to start your day off with. I came here every morning during my stay at a close by BNB. The restaurant is bustling, clean, and has a playful ambience and decor. Many friendly staff who are able to help whenever called out to, and the coffee baristas at the bar were really friendly and gave some good recommendations about what to see in the city. Food: -Salmon gravlax with egg, herb butter and rye bread (5/5) - like a DIY egg Benedict with poached egg and thin slices of salmon. -Ham and Cheese Omelet (5/5) - the ham tasted so decadent, my husband got this one and I kept taking bites of it. -Yogurt with fruit (3/5) - lots of fresh fruit (65%) and green yogurt (35%), a very fruit heavy dish. The yogurt is also tart, which I wasn't really expecting. We also got the croissant (good), the chocolate croissant (delicious, 5/5), banana bread (5/5, SO moist and not too sweet) and cappuccino (5/5, really solid, had this every single day)

Yelp
We arrived here based on on yelp reviews. There was a 30 minute wait to be seated. There is outdoor and indoor seating. I had a Caffe latte and the pancakes as I was missing my American style breakfast. The pancakes did not come with butter and syrup but instead came with salted caramel and a whipped cream (I was in Italy so expected some sort of switch up) not a huge deal but not like home either. The croissants were really good and the coffee was good as well. They also had fresh squeezed OJ. The ambiance was ok just seemed a bit too busy for my liking. 3 out of 5 stars because I'm a fair grader. Decent food, good service, but would not go back or wait for it.

Yelp
Delicious food, kind staff, cozy spot. We showed up around 10am and waited 40 minutes to be seated. I would say, after eating here, I didn't feel like this place was any better than other breakfast spots close by; there's several I've tried and would give 5 stars. I say this only for those who come during busier times and don't have time to wait. I do believe there are other options and you wouldn't be "missing out" by visiting another local breakfast spot. Also, important to point out that the line is for table seating. There was no line for take away.

Yelp
There was a queue when we arrived so we took that as a good sign. We ordered coffees while we waited and most of us ordered another when we were seated. The food was great and the service fast. Perfect stop during a busy day in Rome.

Yelp
This place was such a great find! It's like a 15-20 minute walk from the Trevi fountain but ideal to get away from the large groups of tourists. There was a wait when we got there but it moved fast. We went for breakfast and man did it hit the spot! We LOVED our meals, the coffee was excellent, the food was delicious, and the pastry brought it all together. Star was very sweet and accommodating. Would 100% recommend.

Yelp
An extremely cute cafe in Roma! If you're visiting, you must add this to your list. It has a lovely vibe and delicious breakfast food (if you need a break from pizza and pasta LOL). The quality of the coffee is excellent. The decor is a play on Barnums circus :) The staff was so nice and accommodating of allergies and restrictions (they even gave me a sample of their cold brew to try). I would definitely come back here!

Yelp
Stopped in about 9ish and waited about 10 minutes for a table. They were slammed shortly after we arrived. Had the scrambled eggs with bacon and sausage and the hash brown. My friend and I also split a lemon croissant which was divine. Great coffee too. Food was all excellent.
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly service, quality products, and one of the best almond croissants outside of Paris. Given the same selection in most cafes for breakfast, this cafe stands out for its variety of excellence in more creative offerings. Queue is across the street, host will bring you over when a table is ready. You cannot just walk in and sit down, so be aware there is likely a queue. Circus accents bring the Barnum theme together in an understated quirky atmosphere with several tables inside and a patio of a few more tables across the street. Cappucino was very good. A standout cafe in Roma.

Yelp
Love everything about this place! The pastries are amazing and the drinks are on point. We came here every day when we were in Rome. Great prices too (esp in comparison to prices back home Seattle where a latte costs $8)

Yelp
Amazing breakfast spot in Rome! Get there early and avoid the lines! Everything is amazing and the workers are ON TOP of it and super NICE ! I wanted to eat here everyday

Yelp
Tasty food and service was great! Waited in line but it was worth the wait!! The restaurant provides a modern vibe and great ambiance.

Deb G.

Yelp
Total disappointment. Waited for a 1/2 hour to be seated then waited another 10 minutes for some one to come greet us. Food came very quickly. Nice presentation. But everything was cold including my cappuccino The cold sausage was the best part. Yikes

Salam A.

Yelp
YUM YUM YUM! the breakfast was so delicious and filling. I asked for my eggs and salmon to be separated so I can get two different types of breads and i loved it. If you're looking for good matcha in rome i would totally recommend this place! The staff were really nice and quick. The place is not very spacious because it's usually full but the wait was worth it!

Yelp
Great breakfast, really cool staff, gave us site seeing recommendations, and were super nice to kids

Yelp
The best pastries in Rome. I've been living in Rome for 3 months and had a lot of croissants from various places. Nothing beats Barnum!! I come multiple times a week and I honestly cannot pick a favorite pastry - they're all amazing. There's normally a line to sit down if you come after 9 but you can do take away pastries and drinks without waiting in line. Also you can stand at the bar instead of waiting in line for a table. I've had the chickpea toast once when I sat down for breakfast and that was phenomenal too! Love love love Barnum!!!
google avatar

Yelp
We made it to Barnum this morning. The wait for a table was about 10-15 minutes. The breakfast was really good, tasty, authentic, and although my bread ends were hard, I managed to cut through them. The atmosphere is chic, but fun for couples, individuals, and family with or without kids. The wait staff are nice and eclectic. Love the vibe. And left with lemon curd and Chocolate Caramel croissants, for the birthday dude in my life. lol.

Yelp
I'm so HAPPY I came across this place!! The staff are extremely helpful with explaining the menu and are very polite. When I say EVERYTHINGGGG we ordered was amazing it literally was! They also speak Wnglaih really well. They are soooo accommodating and friendly. They have very minimal seating inside but they have a ton of outdoor seating on a little terrace across from the restaurant. We ordered Matcha Latte which was delicious and super cute(the latte had a design). We also ordered their Barnumburger, Wok, Club Sandwhich, and a plate of pancakes that came with fresh fruit and scrabbled eggs with bacon and toast, and Baccala which was this crispy fresh taste. FYI get here earlier than 12:30 if you want breakfast. If it's a big table you have to order from one menu you can't do breakfast and lunch. This is a casual spot but very affordable and tasty. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this spot. Great for brunch and/or lunch. Nothing less than wholesome fresh ingredients.

Ashley G.

Yelp
No. If you are thinking this is going to be a normal american breakfast you are sadly mistaken. It's not good and they will not exchange your food for something else if you don't like it. I'm telling you don't go.
google avatar

Puay L.

Yelp
We came 2 days in a roll because this is simply the best breakfast we had that is just around the corner where we are staying in Rome. Delicious coffee, quick service and friendly staffs. There is also tables outside if you prefer dining Al fresco, it is just cozy and warm on a February morning for us to eat inside.
google avatar

Holly B.

Yelp
Best cafe latte and croissant during our entire trip. Orange juice is fresh squeezed. My son tried a lot of croissants and he kept saying none measured up to this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome food! American breakfast, great pancakes. Great food all around. If your in Italy for a few day and craving American style breakfast this a place to good.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
They open at 8am but I would recommend getting there a few minutes before because they filled up quickly. The servers were friendly and welcoming. Their portions were a little larger than every other Italian breakfast place during our vacation. Our meals were very flavorful. And we're got in and out in under 45 minutes, which is very hard to do in most restaurants we're we ate

Abby K.

Yelp
This place was amazing! Came here with my sister as a recommendation from a friend and this place did not disappoint. Very nice service and the food and coffee were amazing. It was a perfect place to sit and enjoy the beautiful buildings nearby but also eat some more familiar American type foods - avocado toast and iced coffee when you start to miss them. Would come back everyday if I could!

Sarah S.

Yelp
I came here just to say that this is the best coffee shop/bakery in Rome! The banana bread I had here was truly the best I've had in my entire life. My husband had a croissant and a latte that were magical. Definitely worth a morning stop for breakfast to start your day! And the staff was all super super kind to us tourists :)
google avatar

Maggie A.

Yelp
I absolutely loved my breakfast here! Super good service. As someone who has worked in restaurants, you can tell when a staff if working as a team and they definitely are. I got the eggs Benedict and I would highly recommend. Delicious and came so quick I barely read any of my book while waiting. Will definitely return here.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely amazing breakfast in the heart of Roma. My wife and I went here early on a Monday morning, first in line based on the other reviews. If you do go, get there early!! They fill up fast and there was a line of maybe 10 couples by the time they opened. The food was some of the best we had during our visit. And not too heavy, we both had the avocado toast.

irvin d.

Yelp
We waited for 45 minutes outside, at some point debated to leave. But glad we stayed, Even though we had to wait outside in the sun. The service was great, they brought us water to everyone in line and apologized for the wait. Once we were in the atmosphere and setting were great. The service remained excellent. Met two twins that work there from Argentina and they were very kind and friendly. The Food was phenomenal! That's what made the wait be worth it. I got the Avocado Toast with Salmon and My girlfriend got the Scrambled eggs with hash browns. Orange Juice, Cappuccino, Pistachio and Carrot cake! AND EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!
google avatar

Emilé Y.

Yelp
Really good eggs and solid espresso at Barnum! Much better than some other breakfast places nearby. Make sure to make a res because it was very busy on a Wednesday morning at 10am. The bacon and sausage were delicious. Matcha latte was alright, but they have milk substitutions like oat milk! The barista even came up to me to mention that he couldn't make the milk too hot for optimality of the drink, which was nice to know. Shows that they really know their craft here!

Henrieta P.

Yelp
Great coffee! Amazing croissant! We had coffee here one week long, the croissants are the best! Nice place, close to Vatican, with friendly service. Great specialty coffee.
google avatar

CARMAN H.

Yelp
This restaurant was wonderful. The food was excellent and the service great. It was pouring rain outside but that didn't hamper the service or the food. I sat outside in a covered area and the food was hot. The service was amazing watching them bring the food out with umbrellas and covered food to make sure that you are a hot meal. Bravo

Kim N.

Yelp
Good food, friendly staff, clean. Hash brown is a must try! Crispy and flavorful. They open at 8:00am.
google avatar

Scott W.

Yelp
They served me the most perfect plate of brunch that I've ever had. Options are limited but immaculately performed. The scrambled eggs in particular were above reproach.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
My husband and I happened upon this spot because it was close to where we're staying in Rome. So glad we did! We both ordered caffè lattes which were strong in flavor but not overpowering and at the same time light and smooth. He got the avocado toast with a poached egg and it was bursting in flavor. The avocados tasted fresh and delicious. I got the omelette which was equally as delicious. It had a creamy cheese inside (Swiss I think?) with ham. It was almost undercooked but in the best way possible. It also came with toast that I'm pretty sure was made in house, it just has the extra flavor homemade bread has. After we sat down we noticed the line had grown out the door! If you're looking for a yummy, simple breakfast spot this is it!

Kelly C.

Yelp
Berries and cream crossiant are very yummy, and espresso is rich and creamy. The service is great
google avatar

Juliia M.

Yelp
This is a nice place with good food and coffee, had to wait for 15 mins, but service was fast without any delay
google avatar

Melanie L.

Yelp
This has to be one of the best places here in Rome. It was breakfast so i had the Club Sandwich OMG SOO GOOD literally speechless. We wanted some fries but it was breakfast so waiter suggested hash browns so we had an order and they were super good delicious and vegetarian! Great Place You might has to make a little bit of a wait if ur a bigger party i would say 4 people or more.

Sarah Z.

Yelp
i was really craving an American breakfast because I'm from Texas and this was my last day in Rome. I found this place and the pictures looked really good but it was actually very deceiving. The entrees were beyond underwhelming but the coffee and pastries were really good. We ordered the hash browns, the club sandwhich and the egg, sausage and the food was just not it. If you go, go only for the coffee and pastries.

Elmer A.

Yelp
My family and I found this place on our first visit to Rome. We didn't want a place next to any of the touristy areas so it was important to find something that was highly recommended. We were very pleased with the service, everyone was very friendly and the ambiance was great! Our waitress, Ana, was very nice and attentive. We would recommend this to others and will likely return.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Extremely friendly staff and welcoming to all travelers. The food and coffee selection was amazing. The menu was in Italian and English. We went here twice because it was a fun little eclectic place and the food was decently priced. We had the avocado toast, omelette, and scrambled egg breakfasts while there. Go check it out!

Donald C.

Yelp
Food was amazing, service was excellent! Very friendly service. Strongly recommend :)

Grace L.

Yelp
The food was amazing! We ate the pancakes and egg scramble. Very good service too with a nice ambiance.

Yelp
This place is pretty hit or miss. My club sandwich was fantastic & cappuccino was tasty, but my sister and mother both ordered the pancakes and they came out super undercooked (like, raw batter oozing out and the middle falling out levels). My dad got the avocado toast, and the avocado was not very fresh and his poached eggs were barely cooked. It really just seemed like the kitchen was rushing. Despite this, service was fast and some of the friendliest in Italy, we also had lots of shade and space at our table. I'd say, skip the pancakes, but this spot is still worth the try if you are in the area.

David H.

Yelp
Service was really slow, they don't have a logical system in place to serve. They have a line outside the door, tables kiddy corner to the establishment and a to go bar. You have to figure it out yourself. One would think to stand in line but there's nothing to direct people. Total chaos. The food itself is pretty good but would waste my time with this place.
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
What a fantastic, random cafe that we came upon! Just one road off of a major street, we found this quant little spot that was booming with life. There were plenty of tables, allowing you to find a place to eat a healthy meal, grab a juice, sip on something caffeinated, and have a great conversation among friends. During my trip to Rome, this cafe might have hosted one of the best cappuccinos on what seems to be my Italian coffee tour. Full, robust flavor and smooth foam. I would easily come back to this cafe (if not for the cappuccino, then perhaps for a heavenly looking mascarpone cheesecake I saw on display). Barnum DID seem to host plenty of locals. So if the Romans like it...you've probably found something of quality. Side note for the traveler: Barnum did have AC.
google avatar

Cara W.

Yelp
Came here looking for a place to rest and grab a coffee and snack. Although we did get the coffee and snack, the place wasn't very restful. Admittedly, we did come in the evening, and it appears their policy is to require people who are just getting coffee and cake at the bar. They bring out stools but the bar isn't really for sitting at, so you have to lean over super far to compensate for your knees getting stopped at the bar rather than tucking under. The whole experience was so uncomfortable that we ended up finishing our coffee and cake as quickly as possible to get out (which is likely the intention). This grated a bit because the tables were empty the entire time we were there, so what would the harm be? The coffee was good, and the cheesecake wasn't bad (rather fluffy and light), I just wish I could have more time to enjoy it. Only knocking off two stars, because I think it was a timing thing (we came in around 6). However, be warned this place isn't appropriate for chilling at.

Yelp
Not bad but I would say catering to western tourists, if that's your vibe. WiFi didn't work

Yelp
We stumbled across Barnum as it was close to our Air B&B. Best stumble-upon ever! The atmosphere is FANTASTIC - it is homey and comfy while also being intimate and fun. What really sines here is 1) THE COCKTAILS and 2) HOUSE MADE PASTA! The cocktail list is awesome - it is fun and has something for everyone. My family, myself, and my boyfriend all had maaaany drinks here (What?! It was vacation!) and not a single one was bad. We got to know the evening bartender, Manuel, and he is spectacular at his job. I would call him an expert, an artist of his craft. The drinks he makes are perfect combinations of flavor and are always presented beautifully. We also ordered food a few times, for dinner BE SURE to get one of the ouse made pastas. Surprisingly, my boyfriend loved their burger more tan any American burger he has ever had and that is really saying something. The food was always fresh, delicious and full of flavor and character. Our waitress, Erika, was also wonderful and full of personality. The Barnum is a magical place, where you easily make friends and delight your palate in many number of ways. We love to find places off the beaten path and don't like touristy restaurants, and the Barnum was the perfect find. I can not wait to go back and see my new friends and drink some more of Manuel's concoctions!
