24 Best Restaurants in Toronto, From Glossy Hotel Eateries to Greasy Spoons | Condé Nast Traveler

"Although Toronto's King West has been known for its buzzy nightlife and a rowdy club scene for a few years now, Baro proves that, yes, the area also offers high-quality restaurants. Plates are Latin with Asian influences; the Ceviche de Atún made with yellowfin tuna, coconut lime sauce and cilantro oil, is out of this world. Other standouts include the half roasted Pollo Asado with aji panca, chimichurri and finger-licking guava barbeque chicken jus, and the OG Duck Chaufa, duck confit rice prepared tableside with edamame, egg, corn, chili, and flying fish roe. The restaurant can get pretty hectic, especially at the bar and up on the rooftop patio, so don't expect to be in and out for a quick meal. That said, staff ensures there's always another mezcalita coming your way." - Todd Plummer

Came here with a large group of girls as a celebration meal and everything was amazing! We had 2-3 servers helping us out and all were friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed to really enjoy working there. We ordered a margarita tower and a ton of dishes to share and everything was amazing. Would absolutely come back!

I finally had the chance to stop by here. Reservations can be a little tricky to get, so i recommend booking a week in advance. My friend and I stopped by here for a few drinks after dinner, and they had some great selections. Firstly, if you've never been here before, they have multiple floors. We chose to head to the top floor for the view, and it was a vibe. They have a live dj and live music with a dancer that moves around engaging with everyone. The music was great, and if you're looking for a latin spot, this is it. I recommend you try the sangria rojo, and if you're feeling a few cocktails, they have a shareable size. But of course, make sure you start the night with a shot of tequila. I will definitely be back for dinner!

Already heard so much about this place so I booked a table for dinner as it was my wife’s birthday. I have to say this was one of the nicest experiences so far in Toronto. The food that we ordered was based on the waiter’s recommendation and we were not at all disappointed . A good mix of spices and other ingredients gave a great taste to the items. The vibes of the restaurant are amazing, with a good music mix of latin music and other genres. The staff members were super friendly, always smiling, the waiter (although new) was very polite, knowledgeable of the menu, since it was our first time, and always attentive. Sometimes it’s the small gestures which make you appreciate the place . We had a birthday message added to our dessert and a birthday wish card that came with the menus. My wife and I really enjoyed the experience and will definitely come back again to Baro!

It’s a good place. Food is good, different flavours than what I expected but pleasantly good. Portions are small though. Rooftop area is nice, however since it’s close to the next building and there’s a construction site you don’t get any view. Drinks were also good.

Google
Baro has one of the best rooftop patios on the city. The space is entirely covered by a retractable roof so it can be closed during the rain, and is adorned by hanging plants all along the ceiling rafters. It’s an incredibly cozy space for late summer nights. Food is very good, with highlights being their meats. Both the steak and chicken were grilled really well, with a a nice smoky flavour. Not pictured here, but they have a carmalized banana cocktail that was super fragrant and tasty.

Had a really fun catch up sangria date with my friends on the rooftop at Baro. The food was amazing and the sangria bowl was so yummy and well priced. There is plenty of seating but it does get full very fast on a nice day.

Yesterday was my first time at Baro. I was served undercooked chicken. Needless to say I’m NEVER coming back here. I originally got a burger but in the patty, I bit into some type of small bone mixture TWICE and it hurt. I showed both the waiter and Manager the small piece that was hard and even got a knife to try and cut into it to show them how hard it was. They took away my burger and I got chicken drum sticks instead. But when I got my drum sticks it was literally undercooked and bloody. You can literally kill someone because of this. You can send someone to the hospital with potential Salmonella. I once again called the manager over and asked him if he would eat the chicken I was served. He said no. They removed the plate once again. Perhaps it was a bad day for the chefs but 2 errors on my main dishes is unacceptable. Especially considering how much these plates cost. I was also disappointed in the communication error from the receptionist on the phone saying the menu options were available but when we got there, it was NOT. Jefferson, the manager, did absolutely everything he could to fix these errors. I did appreciate him getting us the menu items that we wanted and overseeing our final bill. But you’ll never see me at Baro again.

Definitely worth coming here. The service and food are both equally fantastic. Being a food allergic person, I am glad they made extra effort to ensure what I can order to avoid my allergies. I am super impressed when I told the waiter what I need to avoid for my allergies and he said the name of my allergies perfectly correct. Food was super good cause he will made the extra effort on what I can eat and can't....example I can't take a nibble at my friend's dish. Definitely worth coming here again.

Yelp
Energy | cocktails | chicken Energy - The atmosphere of this place is electrifying with boundless energy. It's an absolute blast, exuding vibrant and cool vibes that appeal to everyone. Patrons are clearly enjoying themselves, whether they're socializing with friends, on a romantic date, or simply unwinding at the bar. all the place has really good vibes and I highly recommend it. Cocktails - This place has the top three cocktail value presentations and taste experiences I've ever encountered. The cocktails are creatively presented and offer surprising value for the price. Even if you're just there for the drinks, you won't be disappointed. Chicken - I dug into the deliciously sizable grilled chicken dish that night. I was absolutely famished, and it completely hit the spot. This dish was fantastic. The taste was excellent and it came out at the perfect temperature. The chicken was so tender that it fell off the bone easily, which is not always the case with this type of meal. I usually worry about making a mess when eating something like this, especially on a date, but it was surprisingly easy to manage. I wasn't trying to impress anyone, but it turned out great. Pro tip: To secure a seat on a busy night, be sure to make a reservation as this spot is very popular..

Yelp
I'm a regular at Baro, especially for the Pablo Snack House happy hour--I love that it goes until 7, unlike most places that end at 5. The vibes are always chill and the service is consistently good. It's usually bustling, but there are rare occasions when it's pretty quiet. The mojito and another drink that I can't quite remember the name of are my go-to choices here. Oysters are a must--well-priced and tasty. The mushroom tostada was honestly SO fire. I'm typically hesitant with mushrooms, but this was so good. And I can't forget about the hummus; I'm not sure if it's made in-house, but it's delicious, and I love that we can get as much bread on the side as we want. Overall, I love coming to Baro and will keep coming back as long as they keep their happy hour going!

Yelp
Really enjoyed our meal at Barro in February in Toronto. It's kind of dark and intimate on the inside, but a little noisy too. Great energy and vibe that takes you away from the street. Not exactly a date spot but the food is good enough to impress. It's kind of a pan-latin with some interesting twists on classics. Service was attentive and always available, though a little verbose at times for my taste. We started with an agua chile which was made right, with delicious shrimp. Lobster mac and cheese was probably the best dish we had-it was fortunate the three of us shared it because it was very rich but you just couldn't stop eating it. Shishito peppers were delicious and done right. Octopus was perfectly cooked. I would revisit if in Toronto.

Yelp
We ate at the roof top of this beautiful restaurant. They had great views, excellent service, and amazing food. First day of Toronto Caribana and this was a great start to our trip. Highly Recommend this place for both the food and the ambiance

Yelp
What a fun, warm, exciting place to eat! Two coworkers and I came here for dinner, and our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs. We ordered WAY too much. And, all I wanted to eat was the Duck Chaufa...after that came out, I couldn't be convinced to eat anything else. The crowd was young and hip and the place was packed. Definitely a mix of girls nights and first dates, for the sophisticated set. Even though we had to sit at the bar, which isn't the best view or place for a conversation, the service was still impeccable.

Yelp
This was one of my all time favorite dining experiences. The Latin inspired menu was so unique, we wanted to try everything! Sam, our fabulous waiter was on point for everything he suggested. We had delicious cocktails and appetizers. The taro, plantain and corn chips with guacamole were tasty. For dinner we tried the duck confit rice, chicken chimichurri and lamb barbacoa tacos. Honestly, they were some of the best dishes I've ever had. The chili paste that came with the tacos was a standout. Don't miss this amazing restaurant. Besides having terrific service and food, it's got a very fresh & hip vibe.

Yelp
Such a stunning place for dinner!! Every floor has its own uniqueness to it. Personally, I loved sitting at the 4th floor (where it's just decorated with so many greenery and a live DJ). The lamb skewers were out of this world!! I definitely want to come back and try more of their menu selection! The staff is very friendly as well!

Yelp
Had a great brunch with friends on the rooftop patio at Baro. Such a nice seating plus totally covered over. No need to worry about it being too hot! The food was pretty fantastic too. We had some cocktails, and then we had the Chori papa, and somebody had steak. The meals were incredibly flavorful and cooked perfectly. Very relaxed atmosphere. The service was good. We definitely have to come back and try the evening fare, which is served in their downstairs location. If you have mobility issues, no worries getting upstairs because it's all by elevator. It's on King West just west of Spadina, so parking could be challenging, but getting there by transit was really easy.

Yelp
I ate here with a large group of about 10 for dinner before heading out for a night about town. Our servers were prompt, friendly, and gave us plenty of suggestions for where to go out after we ate. We pre-planned a curated coursed dinner for the bride-to-be in the group, and enjoyed cocktails, ceviche, catch of the day, and lomo saltado. I went in with tempered expectations but quite enjoyed the food here. The ambience, music, and service was perfect for our girls night out.

Yelp
This venue is so stunning. I didn't realize they have something like four different floors. This was the snack bar upstairs. We got the mai tai, which was delicious and came in this fun coconut like glass. Our server was wonderful. She was great at recommending things as well as suggesting we make adjustments what we are ordering depending on what we liked. We ended up just getting a snack of the chard habanero hummus with a pita bread. It was so delicious and have this spicy topping on it that made it even more delicious and the pita was so fresh and tender. I'd love to come back here and try more of the items on the menu. It was wonderful.

Yelp
I visited Baro with a large group and we had the preset menu. The menu is decorated nicely and gives a cool, modern vibe. The service throughout the night was seamless and food came out with good timing - they were well prepared for our group of ~18. The meals were family style and there was more than enough to go around. I was full by the end of the night. My favourite of the dishes were the tuna ceviche (the coconut lime sauce was sooo good), and the duck confit rice. Since the rice comes in a hot stone bowl you can let it sit for a bit to make the rice nice and crispy. The "big ass steak" was cooked pretty well. I'd recommend getting the steak medium rare - we got one rare and the medium rare we definitely better. Everything was really tasty and our meal ended off well with churros. They gave us a coconut pistachio cream popsicle as well that was ehhhh - but honestly this is the only part of the meal that wasn't tasty for me. Considering how much food came out, that's pretty darn good. I'd definitely recommend the group preset menu for anyone looking to have an easy dinner with a large group.

Yelp
Came in for happy hour at about 4:45. The place was dead but we were still asked if we had a reservation. We were sat in a lounge booth area. We ordered off the happy hour menu and it was okay. The chips were nice but the guac was a bit flat. The salsa was decent!! We ordered another app that was pretty good too. Overall, it was just okay for me.

Yelp
A cute vibe for drinks with friends. The space is aesthetically pleasing, very instagrammable for those of you who need that. However, it was really loud inside as well, not the greatest for a date night in my opinion. Aesthetics aside, nothing was memorable. The drinks and food were average for the price. My favourite dish was the Ceviche De Atún, the flavours were great - I could have had another plate.

Yelp
Been wanting to come here for a while and glad I did because the service and food was gooood! My friend and I got the rooftop patio (will come back during the day), we got the high table against the wall. Though I had issues getting on the chair since it was so big and in a tight area. We got Patron Pink lemonade (so goood) and espresso martini. The OG duck friend rice was amazinggly good but it did take a while for it to come out. Great for sharing, it was a lot for 2 people. The Yellowfin tuna ceviche was yummy, creamy and sour. The grilled octopus was cooked to perfection and the sauce paired well together. Definitely will come back to try other dishes or their brunch!

Yelp
This place is full of sexy vibes from the decor, the energy, to the staff. Walking in to the reception area, I already felt like I stepped into a different kind of zone that will lead me to a good night out with friends. The dish that stands out the most to me personally is what they are famous for: Duck chaufa. The portion is quite generous, living up to its price tag ($38 at the time of writing). It resembles Asian duck fried rice in a stone pot and it is delicious! The other dish that surprised me was the blistered shishito ($16). I make shishito at home regularly so the fact that they wow-ed me was not because of the peppers themselves but the sauce! Oh my! So good! All other things that we ordered are quite good, you won't go wrong. The service is attentive + quick. I was a bit shocked when they tried to sell me the 6 oysters for $29 but I guess that is the King Street pricing. Of course, we turned it down! Sorry - a girl that goes for the value here! I think Baro fits anyone that wants a great time with friends at a chic place with actually great food + service.

Yelp
Baro to the rescue for my birthday celebrations as Margo did not pan out. So glad we came here, we tried out a lot: Drinks - coconut Mah Tai and spicy margarita were both fantastic. They didn't skimp on the alcohol which I find is common at places on king st west. Food - coleslaw (this was very good, with its headed mango didn't make it a sweet slaw at all. It was just right), corn (was great!), calamari (fantastic with the spicy hints), octopus (we were given a lot on the platter, it was cooked perfectly), shrimp (so big and meaty), and lamb skewers (the sauce was a good pairing to cut the saltiness of the meat) Service was great too. Server recommended the calamari and it was a hit.

Yelp
I came here with a friend to try out their Happy Hour (Pablo's Fiesta Hour) in their snack house. The ambience and decor on their second floor was super cool and unique!! I really liked how they had both lounge and table set-ups, which makes it great for both smaller and larger groups. Service was incredibly friendly and our food was brought out very quickly! Their happy hour menu is really inexpensive--$6 drinks and snacks. However, they don't have as many options as other happy hours that I've been to. I tried their aperol spritz, which was surprisingly very strong despite tasting like a tangy sparkling water!! We also shared all of the snack items between the two of us (Orstras, mushroom toastada, and casava fritas). They were all pretty good--my favorite was the mushroom toastada! There wasn't necessarily a "wow" factor to the food, but they were good! I would love to come back to Baro to try their dinner menu some day, or even try more of their cocktails. :)

Yelp
I want to start off by saying that the space is great, I enjoyed how it was decorated and it's great for pictures. However even with reservations, we had to wait quite a bit unfortunately. The serving staff was very attentive in the best way possible but it was really loud in there for some odd reason. The food was mediocre at best but the service was great. Albeit, I was able to take some good pictures, the presentation was great. I would not come back, 3 stars for the pictures and service. Not their fault.

Yelp
Ambiance of the place is good. Very nice aesthetic, and decor. Food was sub-par. We got the mami shakshuka and they served burnt toast with that. Eggs also were slightly overcooked. Avocado toast which was pretty decent. They forgot to give us queso Fresca. Huevos Benedict, eggs were supposed to be poached, they were over cooked and the dish was quite lemon-y and sour. Quite surprising that this place has such good reviews. Service was quick and efficient. Quite an average restaurant for brunch. Would recommend checking out other places instead

Yelp
I came here as part of a party reservation where we had a set $69/per person menu. The ambience of the place is nice with the dim light and candles, but the night I visited it was just way too warm in there. Everyone I was with felt the same. It was full the entire time we were there on a Sat night. Highlights from our dishes were the chips and guac, grande mac empanada (big mac as an empanada), and the fish of the day; I would particularly recommend trying the fish. The scallops and quinoa were okay but they were mixed with some fruits that were way too bitter and left a bad taste in your mouth. The brussel sprouts were good, nothing fancy. We also got churros for dessert, which were quite big and tasted good on their own. But the sauce was pretty terrible, we had three orders at our table and each sauce tasted different, even though there is only one sauce flavour. The tastes ranged from metal to too salty, my whole table was confused. I don't think this is a place i'd look to come back to for the food specifically, but is decent for a night out.
google avatar

Yelp
Went here for a friends birthday with a large party and had a set menu prepared for us. The inside was huge as there were several other parties eating and drinking, but overall I would not go here again. The food was very average and a bit too salty for my taste. The prices weren't too cheap either, so it felt like we were paying for the atmosphere/experience rather than the food itself. Nothing from my meal here was memorable, but I do recall they had good guacamole with chips. We finished all of the chips quickly and requested more to finish off the guac with, but were charged for the extra chips at the end of our bill. Not totally unreasonable, but not to even be told it would be extra for a couple chips was eyebrow raising. I had heard mixed reviews before coming and I know there's a nice rooftop patio here, so in terms of King West restaurants it was quite average.

Yelp
We celebrated our 16th anniversary at Baro yesterday and indicated the occasion in the reservation. It was unbelievable thoughtful what Baro did: we had a warm welcome, a happy anniversary card on our table, amazing service, great food, a desert on the house, all things that some places might do, but what really showed the thoughtfulness was a signed card from all staff with best wishes and a present that was specific to a 16years anniversary. We have been living 15years in Canada and have been dining a lot over those years, but this was our best experience over all those years. Baro: thank you so much, you made our anniversary very special!!

Yelp
I went here with a couple friends for dinner and I was honestly surprised by how good the food was. Definitely above average in terms of King West and the service here was great as well. Baro is perfect for a couple to try 3-4 plates to share or a larger group where you can get 8-10 plates and try a large portion of the menu. Would definitely come back!! We got a couple different things on the menu and here are some thoughts on the most notable: * Chilli Broccolini - very fresh and seasonal broccolini generously drizzled with a (spicy) chipotle crema that paired surprisingly well * Pollo Asado - perfectly cooked barbeque chicken (yes, even the breast!!) paired with potatoes. This was delicious. * Grande Mac Empanadas - tasted exactly like a Big Mac, in empanada form. If you like Big Macs definitely go for it, if not then maybe pass up on this one * OG Duck Chaufa - it was pretty much a rice-heavy bibimbap with duck. Interesting fusion item and pretty tasty.

Yelp
We went out to Baro late on a Friday night after seeing a few friends. We had tried to find reservations online the day of but it was fully booked, so we called the restaurant and they were able to book a table for us at 10:30. When we arrived to the restaurant we were seated near the back but in close proximity to the kitchen. The restaurant was very lively with Spanish music playing in the background. Our server came to introduce himself and suggested a few items. We ended up ordering the lomo saltado to share and a pink lemonade. The lomo saltado was different variation of this traditional plate, but nonetheless it was excellent. The food was very fresh and cooked to perfection. The sauce was just as great too. We truly enjoyed ourselves on this spontaneous night our. The food and service call for a repeated experience. Next time we hope to be checking out Pablo's Snack House upstairs.

Yelp
Such a cool restaurant with so many options. Great atmosphere Good food Worth the wait if you can get a reservation

Yelp
Despite the mixed reviews here, I still love Baro and will keep coming back. The service and vibes are great and their food has an interesting combination of flavours. Their duck chaufa comes in a hot stone bowl which allows for optimum crisp and is very flavourful. Not to mention, a great portion size. I'd order this again! The Lomo saltado was delicious. The steak was incredibly tender and cooked to medium rare, just the way we requested and I could have drank the sauce at the bottom of the bowl. This version of Lomo saltado is different than what you'd get in Peru, but just as delicious.

Yelp
We started off with the 'Chori Papa.' This dish consisted of pork chorizo, potatoes, peppers, onion, chipotle aioli, corn, goat cheese, chillies, and flour tortillas! The sweet tanginess from the chorizo and aioli complimented very well with the spiciness of the chillies, and was a great taco-tizer! We then had the 'OG Duck Chaufa.' This dish was composed of duck confit, rice, edamame, egg, corn, Papi king fu, chillies, tobiko (flying fish roe), and cilantro. This dish was packing with flavour with every bite - so sweet, spicy, savoury, amazing! For dessert, we had the sticky toffee which was a date cake with vanilla ice cream, dulce de leche, and candied chicharron! Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised with the chicharron, as I usually do not have it in a sweet dish, but overall this dessert was sweet, spongy, and paired well with the scoop of ice cream! Of course, I had to get a cocktail because why not - I went with one of their recommended sweet drinks. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of it, but it was very delicious and refreshing as it had the same vibe as a Moscow mule because of the ginger beer base, and was visually appealing due to the flame it came with from the alcohol! Overall, Baro met my expectations and did not disappoint at all. The interior was beautiful, the staff were great and helpful, and of course, the food and drinks were absolutely amazing!

Yelp
Great ambience. Fantastic brunch selection and service. The ROPA VIEJA CON HUEVOS was very flavourful, highly recommend it. Will certainly be coming back!

Yelp
The service was sub par not the most respectful experience ive had. The food was great wish I would have tried something else but the server wasnt the most patient with explaining the menu.

Yelp
I've been here twice now, once for a bachelorette and once to catch up with a large group of friends. The rooftop and ambiance is really cool, offering great views in the city. The music was great and adds to the chill atmosphere. The rooftop only opens for certain hours and there can be a line up, so keep this in mind if you decide to visit. The food I've tried here was tasty, drinks were good and our waitress on my second visit was lovely. Having said that, on both visits I've found the door staff/hostesses to be super rude and not friendly at all so I wouldn't personally return unless someone else asked me to go here. Just not my vibe and kind of spoiled the mood for me.

Yelp
Wow, exceptionally mixed reviews here, huh? I think the defining line is whether you came here for their food...... In which case, I didn't. So I had a decent time! For COVID safety purposes, vaccine cards are checked, staff/patrons must wear masks, and seating is spaced apart. Our team was seated on the second floor lounge area, where we were subjected to a barrage of 2010 American rap & club tunes under the moodiest of bar lighting. Service was quick & attentive. Drinks are delicious. My mission was to get a healthy and tasty buzz going, so Baro checked the box. I had a variety of fruity cocktails whose names escape me now. We ordered apps to share, most of which were mediocre. Something was always a smidge off-- oysters a little too briny, mushrooms over-salted, texture somewhat off-putting. I could see why folks would be upset for paying premium price and receiving a plate of whatever. Still lower than SF prices, though. I do like the environment. This is a spot I'd take my girlfriends to catch up and vibe to college throwbacks.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. Main dining room was closed until 5 so decided to do the rooftop (didn't really have a choice). The rooftop had a DJ (he was pretty great) and the vibe was kind of "backyard bbq". I was told that only thing that was available was the bar. When I got to the rooftop, multiple tables were available so I asked to be seated at a table because where they seated me had too much traffic from the servers walking by every 5 seconds. On to the important things. Service was slow. Way too long to take my order or even offer me water. Food tasted good but wayyyyyy overpriced for the portions you get. I left hungry and unsatisfied and went somewhere else to fill my stomach. Would I return? Probably not based on the prices. Had the empanada. Tastes like a Big Mac. And I had the lamb skewers. They cut the lamb so small that the 5 skewers probably totalled one lamp chop.

Yelp
I never had a chance to go to their old location and I'm glad I waited for this one. It's beautiful. Love the architecture and colours. Went here for the brunch experience and to be honest, it wasn't bad. There were dishes I wish I had tried but I can only try one thing at a time. So yes, I'd definitely visit again. Customer service here was a stand out from the beginning. Friendly, informative and people generally seem to enjoy themselves, always a good sign. Food here has a South American influence as you peruse the menu. There are a lot of things I wanted to try Coffee. I ordered their GRINGO breakfast: bacon, spiced home fries, eggs, roasted tomato and toast. It was delicious. Coffee was spot on so was their churros! Very curious to try their dinner menu.

Yelp
Great location, great ambiance, delicious food. The octopus was amazing, hummus was delicious, and the potato croquettes with dressing are the bomb.

Yelp
Love this place. The atmosphere, the presentation and flavors of the food, and the drinks - look forward to visiting again. Quick service, music loud enough to drown out the dullness of covid, and hosts that are so very busy yet skilled at keeping the bar and kitchen chaos at bay.

Yelp
So overhyped. The tacos were not good. The pork in the tacos looked like what was stuck to the pan after cooking a roast. Dry and really crispy. The fish tacos were ok...the coleslaw made this one edible. No reservations, so when we got on the waiting list, we were told 30min-45min. As a former host, giving a longer wait time, just in case, is always a good idea...if it's kind of accurate. My friend and I went to grab a drink on another patio nearby and by the time we sat and the server took our order, we received a text that our table was ready. My friend ran back over to get us put back on the waiting list so we could still hit their patio. So many better options on King West.

Yelp
Great Colombian themed bar in the heart of King West, that plays on the fame and legend of notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. Baro has three levels, the bottom floor is a refined dine-in full menu restaurant that serves its fair share of latin world inspired large plates and seasonal offerings. The second floor is more of a casual drinks and date night with a DJ on weekends. The kitchen and bar are open concept on the second floor and you can see the food and drinks being made while you sit at the bar or take a spot at a booth. Great place for fresh oysters and cocktails. One of the hidden secrets about Baro is "ESCOBAR", their speakeasy bar behind the unassuming doors on the second floor. Most people who are not regulars to Baro might now know about it, and the password changes daily so one must have an in with the owners or staff that work there to get the password of the day. While Baro itself is a great spot for a night out with friends, being friendly to the staff and bartenders can get you an in to Escobar which will take your night to the next level thanks to the mysteriousness of it all. Highly recommend it if you are a tourist visiting the city and want to get a sense of adventure for the night.

Yelp
We had reservations for the main dining room on a Friday. The restaurant was lively and inviting, the seating was comfortable although the tables are close to each other. The cocktails were solid, but not a standout. The food was overall delicious, we took a chance on the daily special of chicken flautas/enchiladas that didn't work for us, but someone who enjoys spicy dishes may have been happier. There was quite a lot of sauce on the enchiladas which overpowered the dish. The ceviche de atun and duck chaufa were both great. The tuna dish had an amazing balance of flavors and was our favorite. The duck chaufa was good, it came in a large stone serving dish to keep it hot and the rice was crisped nicely on the bottom. The tobiko was interesting, we were divided on if it "worked" with the rest of the flavors. The portions were good, we originally planned on ordering more dishes but were too full and took the duck fried rice home. Overall the service made the experience five stars and I'm glad we were able to visit!

Yelp
I came here for their brunch. The interior is really nice. There is plenty of space and lots of places to take pictures if you are into that type of stuff. I ordered the Brisket sandwich. It was good but I do have to say it did not blow my mind. The portion size for the price of the food is actually small. You will still be hungry afterwards. A fellow latino was actually disappointed in the food. Therefore, I do trust her judgement because this is the food of her heritage. Prices are high but you are expecting that for the location. Service was great and attentive. Overall, it was just ok.

Yelp
From 5pm to 7pm weekdays you get to enjoy $1 raw oysters and $5 wine upstairs from Baro's called Pablo's Snack House. The oysters are fresh. Definitely will go back for more oysters. What i really enjoyed about my time at Pablo's is that the ambience is very relaxing. There are a combination of tables and chairs, as well as sofas where you can just hang out with your friends. On top of that, the associates working there are so nice and personable. Can't wait to go back there again.

Yelp
Sunday Funday calls for a rooftop patio! Came to check out the patio since the weather was so nice. The drinks and patio were great, but the food was disappointing. Pictured: The Chicken Wings with Guava BBQ was good but nothing special. The "Grilled Ceviche Mixto" had octopus, scallops, white shrimp. salmon, avocado, tomatoes, cucumber and served with a side of chips. This tasted more like seafood salsa than a traditional ceviche, which is what I had expected. Not pictured: the "Grilled Fish" consisted of a sad peice of salty salmon for a whopping $24. (You can find this peice of fish at Longo's for $5 tops. And the "Grilled Broccoli" which is hard to mess up. I would come back for the patio and drinks but nothing else.

Yelp
Weekend brunch at Baro feels like an outing in the garden! The seats are surrounded by greens on a sunny weekend. The brunch menu is inspired by Latin dishes. My favorite is the Ranchero! There's also mimosa specials for brunch!

Yelp
I've got lots of thoughts on this place. After reading the reviews it seemed interesting and I really wanted to check this place out. SUPER over priced. The problem is, when your prices are this high it comes with expectations just as high. When you don't live up to the prices and expectations you're left with a place exactly like this. Some people will love it, lots of people won't. They have lots of fish items, which is great if you're a seafood lover. I'm not so I ordered the chicken with avocado rice and the famous duck fried rice. Yes I ordered both main course items I heard amazing things about both and I couldn't decide. Arroz con pollo: you get a chicken breast on top of about half a serving of slightly avocado flavoured rice, some peas and carrots. It looks pretty appetizing and the flavours are there. A little bland though could use some salt, rookie mistake maybe? The chicken breast was also unusually small, if you've ever been to Nandos you'll know what I mean. Where are these places finding chickens this small? I've never seen a chicken breast this small at any grocery store. The duck Chaufa was next. This was the big one everyone raves about it. And at $35 for what is essentially fried rice, it better be stupid good. The honest truth: it wasn't. It comes served in a hot bowl that continues cooking it. You also get a serving spoon to continue mixing if you don't want it to get too crispy. Opposite to the chicken it was actually too salty. I didn't really taste the duck and the rest of the ingredients don't really stand out either. The pepper added a nice spice to it but that's really all I can say. Like I said before it's chicken fried rice and tastes marginally better than your average Chinese place at best. Overall I was extremely disappointed, mostly because of the price. If it was reasonably priced I could justify a 3 or 4 star rating but the food doesn't taste much better than anything you can find at less than half the price. I wouldn't recommend and probably won't be back. Sorry.

Yelp
This restaurant has a nice vibe, and the second floor rooftop patio is quite nice. My issue with it is the umbrellas do not provide adequate shading - I sat in direct sunlight for my entire meal in 30 degree weather! I'm surprised I didn't get burned. I think the staff should have tried harder to fix it because we had told them it was an issue. They moved an umbrella because we told them we thought it might help, but we all acknowledged it didn't help then they didn't try anything else. The food was OK. Tortola chip, guac and salsa were very fresh and came in a good portion. The tacos were flavourful but I found the tortilla fell apart quickly. Overall 3.5/5 for me.

Yelp
Beautiful patio space right on king west! Me and my 2 girlfriends popped into Baro today to get some dinner and some drinks. We showed up around 8pm and waited in a line. We waited for around 30 min and suddenly someone who works there comes down says we can come in but there's only standing space and 11 more groups of people are expected to come we wouldn't essentially be able to get a table as they're expected 11 groups of people. We left and came back around 10 and we show up to no line and seating room available. ???? Anyways... The service is terrible here. We walk in the hosts say nothing to us we have to ask if we can go in or wait to be seated and they say no we can walk in and grab whatever tables. We walk in find a table that someone must've just left from and sit down. Our server shows up wearing just normal casual clothes (everyone was) and says "did you guys just sit here or did the host tell you to come here" we said no they said we can sit wherever. She then proceeded to say "and you guys would choose to pick the dirty table?" With a very smart look on her face. We go on to say it was fine and we thought someone would clean it regardless so it didn't matter - the experience started on such a great foot... (sarcasm) So we get ciders enjoy them and we don't see our server for hours. We end up finding her ask for the bill which then took her awhile. She wasn't friendly at all to us and that just left a bad taste in my mouth. I won't be returning and neither will my girlfriends.

Yelp
I was a bit skeptical, given the recent reviews, but I still wanted to try it when I got the chance as I have heard of this place for a while. I will say, I really do think the food quality and taste was great and have no complaints on that part. The tuna ceviche was very refreshing and I think the fried nori that was came with it made a delicious pair. The lamb skewers were also really yummy. However, I have to agree with the majority consensus that the price point was pretty outrageous and the portion size was laughable. My friend and I paid $66 in total for three entrees that would have been SMALL appetizers anywhere else. Even the server warned us that the lamb skewers may not be enough, which leads me to believe that other patrons may have brought it up before. I understand that dine in has only recently reopened, but even in my experience of dining in DT restaurants, I have not seen many dishes that were as overpriced as this. Don't get me wrong, the food is great, but at the price point it advertises, it raises eyebrows, and I don't think it's worth it for a repeat visit. Didn't order drinks because they were like ... $18? Really? I do think the aesthetic and atmosphere was very nice, and had a pretty nice view. I was impressed with the hostess, she was super nice and amazingly sweet and professional , I loved her attitude. But one thing worth mentioning that really did affect my dining experience was that the server was kind of unprofessional and lowkey sketchy. Both my friend and I thought she seemed judgemental, especially when she saw that we were not ordering cocktails. Normally I don't care, but then it seems she was intentionally misleading my group into ordering the chips and guac as an additional dish? I found that very sneaky and unprofessional . And I'm pretty sure it was intentional bc when my friend and I called her out on it she backpedaled. Really did not like that, I used to work in food service too and so that didn't meet my standards. This place is beautiful and the food is good for a one time (pricey) experience, but I don't see myself coming back again

Yelp
PROS: - The food (taste and quality): Everything tasted delicious! The "Chaufa" (fried rice) is a must-order. The vegan / vegetarian version substitutes the duck with crispy tofu which is really good and goes really well with the rice. The tofu is served separately, so they stay crispy on top of the rice. - Portion sizes: Huge portion sizes, especially the Chaufa (comes in a large hot stone pot). Each main dish can feed at least 2 people (depending on your appetite). Even the salads and appetizers are sharing-sized. - The menu and variety of dishes are different than the more traditional Peruvian restaurants in the city. It has Chinese Peruvian ("chifa") and Japanese Peruvian ("Nikkei") dishes, in addition to the more typical Peruvian dishes such as Lomo Saltado. It also has a mix of other Latin American-inspired dishes such as Empanadas and Fajitas. - The interior: Lots of green plants in the dining area, and a pretty nice bar at the front. CONS: - Music and general noise level are too loud. During busy dining times, it's quite hard to hear the other parties in your own table. - Timing between when dishes come out. After appetizers are done, it takes a long time for the main dishes to come out. Then a dish that is supposed to have 2 different components mixed together come out separately, with quite a lag time in between.

Yelp
This venue is located on the second floor at Baro Restaurant along King Street W. Baro dining room is on the first floor and The Loft is on the third floor of this renovated building. It's a Friday evening surprise 50th birthday party for a friend with Latin-inspired food! Every day from 5-8pm is Fiesta Hour where you can enjoy $5 snacks, $5 glasses of wine and $20 pitchers of Sangria & Margaritas. Too bad our party launched at 8:30pm! I looked at the Pablo's menu which included Chicken Wings $15, half dozen Oysters $16, Fish Taco $8, Chicken Slider $10, Tuna Tostada $6, Churros $7 to name a few. Seems pricey but that's it Executive Chef Steve Gonzalez quality. You can hydrate on draft 16oz beer Amsterdam 3 Speed, Baro Light, or Estrella Damm for $9.25 whereas bottles/cans of Stella Artois are $9 or Budweiser for $7.75 here. Maybe a Pisco Sour $12 cocktail is more to your liking. There are 2 TV screens to watch sports. The place is very busy and the music is hopping.

Yelp
Please get the Big Mac off of the menu. We ordered Empanadas for $16. The Empanadas came, and bless the waiter's heart, with a smile and throwing out a shaka, verbatim said "this tastes exactly like a Big Mac!" One thing I'll give Barro is transparency because those Empanadas tasted and smelt exactly like a Big Mac lol but when you're going fine dining, a Big Mac tasting empanada is not what people come to a restaurant for. My friends and I thought it was funny since both our waiters were happy and selling the fact their empanadas taste like Big Macs. Thank for bringing us laughs, yet please have the chef reevaluate that specific dish. We do not come to "foodie" restaurants to taste $5 fast food. If we wanted fast food, we would have gone to McDonalds. Everything else was tasty and worth the visit. Perfect ambiance and great service.
