Barona Resort & Casino

Hotel and casino feels a little dated but it's all very clean and the staff is very nice! Being a casino you need to be a member of their players club if you want to enjoy a stay in their hotel as they do not sell rooms here, rather they only comp them out to their players and you'll likely need to be level platinum or diamond to be able to get your room offer or be able to request a night or two. Lately the machines seem a little tight but overall this is a great gambler's or golfer's destination.

One of the nicest places to come and have fun in the casino. Thousands of slots you can play for pennies. All in a non-smoking environment...the only place you can actually smoke inside the building is the "Smoking Lounge" adjacent to the food court (the space used to be the poker room -- sadly, no more live action poker). Also, no more buffet here, as with most casinos (even in Vegas). But this is due as much to CA regulations as anything else.

First time visiting. Very, very impressed. The casino is extremely clean, the people working there are very present! If you need anything someone is right there. You can press the service button and someone will be right there to clean and sanitize the machine. The restrooms are beautiful, very clean. When we arrived we were immediately welcomed. We reached out to a host (We feel so bad, we forgot her name), she was extremely nice, very patient and friendly. We will be back! The location is a little tough however it is so worth it!

Just came to the casino so no reviews in regards to the rooms and amenities. Love it here! Walk in and you are not hit with the smell of cigarettes or heavy floral scent to cover up smoking, just a refreshing cool atmosphere! Food court was easy to find ad well as restrooms. The casino floor is well lit and doesn't feel like your in a cave with lights! Aisles are visible and space between machines are nice! Definitely will come back!

Bit outdated feeling, but lots of new slots. There were cheap food options, but the lines were super long and the workers seemed overwhelmed. A little cramped in the casino, and no free drinks, not even soda. Weirdly obsessed with cleanliness, which I guess is fine. Hand sanitizer and wipes everywhere. Soup came with wipes. All the silverware is individually sealed. It’s kind of weird.

The best ...this is the best resort ever!!! Always give great customer service!!! Hospitality is on top of the line everyone great you and outside workers are always waving just to make you feel welcomed. Drove 8 hour just to spend time at Baronas. Been visiting since 4 years in a row...will travel just to visit because of the friendly staff. My wife and I love this place...We Call Home 🏡.

Very friendly staff. I love how everyone smiles and greets you on your way in and out of the casino. The Steak house is fantastic and their italian restaurant was good but i have to say served me the best cappuccino i have ever had in my life! Its the little things.

Spent a little time at Barona recently and it's a beautiful resort. The casino is large and inviting with beautiful lobbies. I love that they have a food court that has so much diversity. Barona has two nice restaurants inside as well - Barona Oaks Steakhouse and Italian Cucina. We were comp'd a nice meal so we made reservations at the steakhouse. It's quite lovely and there was a gentleman playing the piano in the restaurant. Nothing obtrusive, just kind of nice. They have a VERY large wine selection but I had an interesting drink instead which was just OK but my fault for what I selected. My guy had a ribeye and some bacon wrapped shrimp. The steaks come with a baked potato and vegetable medley. I ordered a NY strip. Those steaks were cooked to perfection and seasoned expertly. Can't recommend this steakhouse enough! My reason for 4 stars instead of 5? There is no alcohol served in the casino whatsoever. The ONLY place you can enjoy a drink is at the Italian restaurant or the steakhouse....and you can't order a drink and take it upstairs to the casino floor. The two restaurants close at 10pm. I understand the reasoning I guess. The casino is in Wildcat Canyon which consists of a very windy road so I'm sure no alcohol means fewer accidents but I found it strange.

Service People continue to be too LAZY to use the Service Elevator. One new guy said he was never trained. I explained what an inconvenience it was to try to get to the pool on the first floor when Lazy employees keep stopping the elevator making me wait while they go up or down 1 floor. The young guy didn't care at all about keeping guests happy. Service people are here 8 hours Stop being lazy and upsetting guests.

Perhaps 5 years ago on a Thanksgiving night Barona casino had 2 things A Buffet and a cigar lounge which was great PRESENT DAY Nov. 28th 2024 I even looked up their website and yes their website has a buffet and a cigar lounge Got there not 1 of those existed Or else show me and prove me wrong. BARONA CASINO if you going to make millions per day at least update your damm website having me drive out there all for nothing PROVE ME WRONG AS I SAID /// FALSE ADVERTISEMENT

I can't believe this Angelica girl still works here. She is the exact opposite of "friendly" and "polite" that Barona advertises. NEVER smiles nor greets customers. ALWAYS has an attitude and rolls her eyes too! If you hate your job so much, just quit! Not gonna get far in life with that attitude. Also big fail on Barona's part for this bad hire and poor training.

Easy parking, great customer service, spacious area, clean, renovated, NON SMOKING! Lots of play, rest, and dining options. They match your tier level at other casinos. Bring your non expired cards with you. It's clear why they've been voted the best casino in SD county 13 years and counting. Only reason I couldn't give a perfect 5 is that we only got to play about 1.5 hours. We didn't anticipate that traffic this day would have doubled our travel time. Some idiot drove recklessly that afternoon hurting others and causing horrendous traffic for the rest of us. If you are one of those kind of drivers, please do that on your own time and space on the race track. The highway/freeway is NOT your playground. And rushing around like that will not get you anywhere faster. Drive responsibly. This has now become a PSA for decent driving :)

Barona Casino is 18+. It does not serve alcohol. Unless you ate at the Italian restaurant and must consume all before you leave. We parked at the South entrance which is an outdoor lot with shuttle (golf cart) service or you can proceed to park in the five level parking structure and enter the North entrance. By far this is my favorite SD casino. Super clean air, because there's no alcohol, people are sober and alert. The casino floor, especially the slots were packed. So lively! They were voted the loosest slots in town and I witnessed that to be true on multiple occasions. After midnight, it was hard to find an empty seat. They had one crap table and it's the longest I've ever seen. My dices kept on spinning. Next to it was an electronic crap table which was normal size. It's all California crap/roulette with the cards. Minimum was $10 but will go up as it gets busy and on holidays. You can always call before you come ask what's the current buy in. I didn't see any sports booking area but saw a huge chipless electronic machine area to play all your card games. They got rid of the buffet during pandemic. There's a cafe, Italian restaurant, VIP dining area and the food court. We got coffee from Barona Cafe. They asked if you want ice, hot, or blended. I got blended Coffee Toffee whip cream. The food court has bánh mì, soup, Chinese, churros, hot dogs, burgers, pizzas, Mexican, pretty much every cuisine. We ordered from Three Amigos World Famous Tacos for $2 each. I have to say, they're not World Famous for nothing! It was yummy! We got carnitas, carne asada, and chicken. Love this property but wish there was a mocktail bar or live music. They had a boom box cart that went around blasting music. Also a Free drink cart. There's also a hotel. All the attendants were super friendly. The parking attendant would wave to you as you drove in the parking lot, at the escalator, outdoor entrance, indoor and you felt welcomed all around. You can also tier match if you have a higher tier elsewhere.

I want to say that this was our first visit to Barona Resort and Casino, and let me tell you that it is hands down the best casino in San Diego!!! It's clean and beautiful, much more than Viejas Casino. As a disabled person, we were able to park up close. In addition, I was given a scooter to ride around for free. It was very useful. As for the machines, they had all my favorites, including FLAMING POTS, and DELUXE DOUBLE DIAMONDS, and CARNIVAL!!! In the High Limit Room, there's DOUBLE TOP DOLLAR and PINBALL DOUBLE GOLD!!! However, it's a bit PRICEY!!! $50 a spin/10 lines. It was overall a great experience, and definitely lots of fun.

This is a nice secret casino and golf course, great for alcohol non-drinkers and smokers. More seniors as patrons, but as a middle-aged woman, I appreciate the beauty and calmness barona brings to a casino. Great wedding destination fully equipped with a cute little chapel, an events ballroom and many places for photo ops. Casino and food: offers great incentives for loyalty members. This trip I didn't pay for any food or drinks. Variety if food types: American, Asian, Mexican, Italian and so much more... love the creamery and banh mi cart too! The slots range from your tried and true to new ones they are testing. They have tables and my favorite is the electronic roulette and baccarat seats that have live dealers on a sort of a stage. You can play multiple tables at a time or switch off without have to switch seats. Only different is no chatting with your dealer or neighbors. Golf course: I don't golf, but my relative does and it's just a beautiful surrounding with places to practice too. Customer Service: 99% of anyone you interact with is super friendly. They definitely instill kindness. Overall it's a beautiful hidden resort. My family comes often.

Barona Casino has a lot going for it--it's clean, the ambiance is nice, and the air is refreshingly clean, which is a huge plus if you're sensitive to smoke. The Sage Café is a highlight, with wonderful views of the lake. The food, however, was mostly just okay. I tried the fried chicken that's supposed to be "better than my mom's," but it fell short. It definitely needed more spices to live up to its name. The staff were pleasant and helpful, which I appreciated. However, the main reason for my 3-star rating is twofold: the food could use improvement, and the slots were definitely not loose. Despite Barona's award for having the loosest slots in San Diego, I didn't get a single return after playing several machines. In contrast, at Valley View Casino, I started getting great returns almost immediately. If you're looking for a non-smoking environment, Barona is a great choice. But if loose slots are what you're after, you might want to try a different place.

My husband and I've been coming here since 2020 and I'm a diamond player, when we first started coming to this casino everything was great! The member benefits, food, staff everything was wonderful. This last year it's been the complete opposite. My husband and I come at least twice a month and spend the same amount (normally) every time, we haven't won any jackpots, the machines seem very tight, even rigged almost. My host Paul started out great but then I noticed the more we visited Barona and lost our money, the tighter Paul and some other hosts became. I was given out lots of comps in the beginning but now they hardly give anything and we spend and lose the same amount and some times more. Will never return to this casino or recommend them to anyone. Will be trying Viejas.

We ate at the cafe for lunch for my birthday. $38 for huge servings. Including tax. They also have honeypots on every table with the other condiments. My bbq pork ribs half dark were so tender and meaty the meat fell off the bone. No knife needed. Fantastic view if you sit by the windows. Service was friendly and prompt. They also serve warm bread to start you off. The casino feels cramped with low ceilings and for supposedly the freshest air there were a couple of musty smelling areas. Very friendly and helpful staff.

This review is for the food. Tried to eat at the sage cafe as everyone said its great food. Well got there at 11 ish on a sunday and was told it was a 2 hour wait, based on having the lower tier players card. So if i had the diamond card it would be instant access to cafe? Discrimination based on players card right there. Same with the former buffet. Only for VIP. Ended up eating terrible hot dogs and got sick soon afterwards.

The rooms are quite outdated. The comps are minimal. I wish they would give more comps to customers because the other casinos give away more. Service is ok.

Great, CLEAN casino. Not the best when it comes to player rewards/comps but definitely the cleanest, and great food, and convenient parking.

Barona Casino is a great casino. It is the only casino we have won multiple Jackpots at. It is the only Casino in San Diego area that has many payout people on the floor, after a hand pay they aren't far away. I have never seen one at Sycuan, I saw one at Jamul Casino, and 2 at Viejas, why? well no one is getting hand pays like you do at Barona they don't need them. It is that only No Smoking casino in San Diego, I really can't believe more don't do the same. Barona is busy smokers aren't the only gamblers. The food places are good, the soup Kitchen is really good and cheap. Three Amigos has $2.00 street tacos that are excellent. I almost forgot I play golf there too it's an excellent course and my weekly round. When we go to other casinos we barely get any free game or bonuses, I loaded pictures that are from the last 3 months.

I have tried to return and play at Barona casino but every time I go it's something new that makes my experience so disappointing. Tonight, I tried to call Barona to find the balance on my card and when the next free play date is. I had to call five times. One time, I was put on hold for 5 minutes. The next 6 minutes, the next 5 minutes, next I called and asked why they kept putting me on hold and the girl said, "Yeah, I was just about to put you on hold again!" and put me on hold. I had to talk to Jacob twice and asked to speak to a supervisor, who once again put me on hold. I guess a supervisor was not available (of course) because he/she never answered the phone. I guess when they don't like you they keep putting you on hold. It is just a game they play. I asked if they were busy but the girl who answered the phone seemed surprised because obviously they were not busy. I filled out one of those complaint cards about two months ago, and I was told I would receive a phone call or email. I never heard from anyone. This shows me how they don't care about anyone that has a complaint or concern. The card was probably filed in the trash. It's sad that a business is run like this. The machines stick. I had a machine shut down on me the other day. The technician came to fix it and told me it would be back up, and I could use my printed ticket. That never happened. I waited forever and had to hunt her down again to get the machine working and get my money back. I don't blame her due to the dilapidated machines they have. The machines are filthy and sticky. I have to clean off every machine I play. The payouts are still horrible. The coffee shop does not have enough employees and when you need help they go into the corner and talk. Some are good workers. When you give the order to them, they never get the order right. The asian restaurant is slower than molasses but have a few good workers. Maybe a year from now a supervisor will find the time to talk to me, but I really don't think they care about any comments from me or anybody. Just a sidenote: I went to another casino in town today and got a new purse, freeplay, a giftcard, free points etc. At Barona I get rude comments and put on hold because THEY DON'T CARE. Please improve Barona, you have really gone down hill. Play somewhere else.

When you feel like a little Vegas action but don't want to sit in the car for five hours in the desert heat, the local casinos can definitely cure that fix. Barona Resort and Casino is just a hop, skip and a jump away in Lakeside. Fairly easy access with a road that isn't filled with too many turns or hills. I appreciate the nonsmoking atmosphere and the smiling friendly team members that greet you upon entering the grounds, casino and resort areas. It's the only nonsmoking casino in town. Getting thirsty while spinning the slots, there are drink carts cruising around to offer hot or cold beverages. Working up an appetite, the food court offers a variety of tasty treats from pizza and burgers to tacos, bahn mi and pho. Don't forget the ice cream to finish off your visit. For sit down dining, there are a few options. The Steakhouse and Italian Cucina are located on the lower level. I've dined at the Cucina and been very satisfied each time. Looking forward to the Steakhouse on a future visit. They've also opened up the area which used to house the buffet. It's now a modified sit down dining area for Platinum and Diamond members (high rollers). Overall a good casual local spot to handle the need to play while not wanting to travel to Vegas. Do not come here they used to be one of the good casinos but now they can't even give you $5 dollars to come after a 3 Hour drive, also i might add it was my birthday. They don't let you stay in the hotels if you are not a platinum member how am I supposed to drive from three hours away and not even stay at the casino or given the option to pay for anight? Since covid, this place is a joke. I will never come here again. Spend your money elsewhere. Also the casinos states they are the "loosest" slots when they are indeed not. Taking my money elsewhere.

Very clean, very friendly and polite workers. Safe environment. There are casinos closer but we prefer Barona. Amazing experience dining at the new Dining Eatery ( ex buffet area). Fast service and food selections are great and delicious. Price is affordable. Worth mentioning; Marisela , manager, personally welcomed us and Criselda and Chantal, servers with friendly and caring attitudes. At Vip Desk, Chanice for extra effort s in maximizing our membership benefits.

One of my favorite Casinos of All time , I called it the Disneyland of casinos because of the nice hospitality, the greetings ,the staff the only problem is I never hit a decent jackpot there

Every since covid, Barona continues to lose is regular slot players. They are the tightest casino in SD and have by far the worst comps. Although Jamul and Sycuan allow smoking, you can actual play, have fun, and have a chance to win. The wife and I are playing out whatever miniscule comps we have left and will not return. It's a shame because we have got there for over 10 years but they are just to greedy.

This is a beautiful place to escape for the weekend. The only big issue is that their slot payout percentage is super low. I am guessing a change in management or they are trying to make up from losses back from Covid. It's a real shame as they have a lot of older machines I like. They do have two amazing servers in Sage Cafe. Jackie and Johnny are awesome.

Beautiful classic casino. I haven't been here for a few years but this time I actually get to look around and take it all in. The exterior of the casino is very nice. It's a homey welcome feeling, all staff was lovely. Overall the casino is a decent size, they have a resort inside as well. One day I will have to book a room there. On their site; they also match room comps! I will try it out one day. I went straight over to get myself a rewards card. They were able to match my tier to another casino. FYI- they can only do this Once in your lifetime at this location. I don't really plan on going to casinos after this year ends so that made my decision to match tier lol. Tiffany at the rewards center was very helpful and nice. She answered all of my questions. They have a small food court. It's a few selections. I went over to the Hot dog stand for a quick bite and a lovely lady helped me. I wished I got her name. I grabbed the all beef hot dog and pretzel with cheese dip. They were pretty good! They have bathrooms everywhere. The bathrooms are one of the nicest bathrooms for a casino in San Diego. I love that they changed to a Non Smoking casino and recently learned that it's for 18 plus! Which is really nice. The views from the Sage Cafe was wonderful.

Barona has always been 5 star class resort dating back to big top. If you haven't experienced the class that sets them aside from other resorts.... I welcome you and guarantee will not be disappointed. I started this to review for an omelette I had here @ the sage restaurant. I was blown away with 1st bits, so much flavoring.

Stayed in an 8th floor room overlooking the peaceful golf course. Loved the pool and hot tub. Enjoyed both dinner and brunch at Sage Restaurant. So incredibly delicious meals. Kudos and mega-dittos to the entire Barona team!

Elizabeth Chang was an amazing host and i want to say she is the best host that i've ever had she had great customer service. She is very attentive and made sure i was well taken care of, in the casino she's has very good customer service and i've been seeing her for the past 3 years since i am a diamond member and the reason i go to barona the most and wanted to say that she is the best employee you guys have thank you very much for the experience and i wish to see her again as my host i made this review because she is your best employee and thank you to all the other barona employees thank you -Omar Diaz Sanchez

Enjoyed our stay there. Definitely the most comfortable n cleaner resort we've stayed at (5 star ). Love the fact that there is no smoking anywhere in the building. (5 star ). As for the staff, they're awesome--no complaints there (5 star ) In the casino or in the hotel. As for the food court/cafe (4 1/2 star ) but all was still delicious. Now the best part is how the resort cater to handicaps--every floor has a motorized scooters (5 star ). Definitely need a microwave. Executive management, pls note; your staff is upholding what many resorts/hotels don't. Please let them know their smiles n their pleasant attitude n services were beyond many (I mean many) resorts my husband n I stayed in; to include our timeshares (Wyndham n Disney). Keep up the awesome work n continue to live by your resort/hotel values. I'll see u guys next month.

If you like to lose money, this is the perfect casino for you :) Terrible location, but worst of all, terrible management. One night I witnessed a random player steal the tip jar right off the counter at The Coffee Company. The Security Staff did absolutely nothing at all!

With a 24/7 smile to help you! it is sad when my friends invite me to another casino and I can easily spot a poor service so I highly recommend they go to Barona and they will understand what BEST SERVICE IS and I I can only promise you-YOU CASINO PLAYERS-they know how to spoil you!!!! We've been turned away from the restaurants the last two times. You can't reserve a table unless you gamble a lot. They tell you "we won't have a table for you today." Not going back.

Their employees go out of their way to assist you. Very kind and helpful. The food at the Sage restaurant is very good! They also left a happy birthday card in the room for my friend to see when we arrived.

Great to revisit this casino after a long time since Covid happened, I used to be a regular at their buffet every week on lobster nights, til they shut the buffet down sadly, now they turned it into a vip eatery area, and the food court still there for my liking, especially Ho Wan, with the best roast duck I ever had in a long time. The slots aren't very loose as they claimed, so me and my grandpa didn't spend much as we did at other casinos, just a fun reminiscent. Oh how I miss the old day of Barona.

I have not even gone yet and I'm already giving a bad review. So I go on their website to reserve a room for this weekend and find out that I have to call to do so. So I call and tell them that I wanted a room and turns out I have to be "invited" to stay there or have a comp. She told me they started doing that during covid. So basically I have to be a regular gambling all the time in order to stay there. Looks like I'll be going to Sycaun instead.

Very welcoming and clean casino. We really enjoyed gaming there, and ended up staying twice as long as we intended. Definitely want to go back!

I am discriminated against in this establishment as I am not allowed to smoke in their casino. This all started when Covid hit and I regularly visited this casino over the years as I live 15 minutes away from it. No smoking, NO LOSING MY MONEY THERE.

It was nice and clean a lot of machines, but they didn't serve any type of drinks so that was kind of a downer. The restaurant was very good.

1st time here and let me just say By far my new Favorite casino simply just for the customers service and how clean the casino is . No smoking is a super plus also. It's a 2hr 30min drive for me but I'll gladly make that drive again. I've never seen so many dragon link slots empty before other casino's u have to wait for one to open up. Huge selections of slots .

I was wowed at this casino because of their amazing and unique features! First of all, they have FREE ATM machines. Although not many, they do have change kiosks with friendly staff that can do it for you. They have a FREE tram to your parking spot. We were lucky to have one waiting right outside as we were leaving. Some parking is VIP designated but there was tons of free parking at the non VIP space where we parked... even more than VIP parking. They have FREE scooters and chairs for those who need them! Truly of great help. They have various food options but some of them, like the ice cream parlor, were so understaffed for the demand. I only had a smoothie because I waited about 15 min for ice cream TWICE and the line was just not moving. It is a non-smoking casino which is amazing because I had no headaches, but they do have a designated indoor smoking area if desired. Now what kind of blew my mind is the fact that this casino is 18+ and not 21+ My 18 year old self would've loved that! However, there was NO ONE checking ID at the entrance (probably because it is 18+ and they have a hotel) BUT even then you could tell there were some teens gambling. The casino floor was flooded with more teens than elderly (my guess is ages 16-18 or even younger). Nonetheless, these are MY guesses based on their appearance and actions. Other than that, my husband and I won about $600 combined so we were very happy!

Really bad casino. This is the third time I came from a distance. They told me it was good. The strange thing is that I am a man working there. He was wearing a blue suit and in his hand was a device behind someone playing next to me. Then when he won approximately $1800, the player turned behind him and pointed at him with his finger, then another person came in a suit. A red man working there told him congratulations, but what was strange was that when the person in the blue uniform saw his colleague coming, he left very quickly as if he did not want him to see him. Really, guys, I doubted the matter, as if the people in hand with the device were controlling who would win. If that were the case, then the owner The blue suit knows that person

I have been to this casino many times before when I was here before I moved to Hawaii. This casino is pretty cool. Hubby had free play money and wanted to use it. We went early in the morning because I had to take my cousin to the airport at 5 am this morning. Luckily it was a smooth drive and no traffic headed there. As we entered, there was a guy who greeted us hello. Hardly anyone in the casino at around 5:30 am. I definitely liked that as I hate crowds. Lots of slot machines all around and places to eat but the only thing open was a coffee shop near the corner of the food court. Plenty of parking all around the casino. One of the oldest casinos here if you look at the decor of the carpet haha. The air circulation is good. There's even a sign saying the air circulates better. However that's when people don't smoke. As we left there was a lady at one of the shacks waving goodbye. Definitely cool and welcoming. They wave when you enter the main entrance.

They used to let us stay there in our RVs 4 days at a time. Our camping group had a blast and spent lots of money there since we are all retired and living the life. Not anymore They keep using the excuse of since Covid there is no more overnight camping and chasing us out, Really?? They woke me up at 12:45am from a dead sleep told us to move on down the road after we spent the day and night in the casino gambling, eating etc. We were told no overnight camping due to "Covid" but explained we could park there if we stayed in their hotel????? Hmmm so staying in our clean personal RV with our dog is not allowed but stay in your people infested (no dogs allowed) hotel we can park our RV in the lot!!! We tried to call Mr. Alvarez and Mr. Salinas left messages to see if we could try and reason with them and no one called us back. RV family Golden Acorn loves us! Bye Barona

Really know how to treat their VIP players. All casinos need to learn from them. This review is only for their World Famous Hot Dogs. These Barona World Famous Hot Dogs are located at the Barona Casino inside the food court area. The price if these delicious footlong Dogs are $5.75 and a 1/4 beef dog or polish dog is $3.99. I find these prices are reasonable and you can have the server add whatever toppings you like such as relish, mustard, onions, jalapeños. I overall give this place a 4 star . Yelpers a great place to take a break after playing some slots or tables on the casino floor. Enjoy my friends.
