Barr Mansion was the wedding venue of my dreams and safe to say rain or shine it was a dream come true! Barr Mansion is a full service venue in the Austin metropolitan area and the cost of the event included my catering and bar services - a dream for coordinating your big day because it means less outside vendors to deal with. (They also now partner with their sister company Stems Floral on events, so truly you could have a majority of your key vendors covered for the day of the wedding if you also chose to go with Stems for your flowers!) Having catering and bartending in house provided an assurance of quality because all food was cooked on site and all bartenders and servers were familiar with the venue space. My friends cannot stop raving about the food, which is wonderful because it was so important to me that it was high quality. They also had kids meals which were perfect for our little guests the day of! The ballroom was everything and the ivy has grown back on the inner window making it such a dreamy space. We had our ceremony in the farmstead and it was so wonderful in the cold weather with the space heaters for guests to stay warm. All spaces were also ADA accessible which was very important to me as I had a guest in a wheelchair. I cannot rave enough about the ease of planning with the AMAZING venue manager Zachary. I truly loved working with him and he answered all my questions quickly, kindly, and professionally. It was such a magical day. My parents loved the venue and I will be raving and recommending Barr Mansion to anyone who asks!

As a photographer and videographer, I find this venue to be an absolute gem. The abundance of natural light creates a perfect setting for capturing stunning photos and videos. Every shoot here benefits from the beautiful lighting, enhancing the overall aesthetic. Beyond the visual appeal, the staff consistently provides outstanding service! The food here is also exceptional and I always look forward to my "vendor" meal in the Mansion. I highly recommend this venue to anyone seeking a location that combines visual beauty, excellent service, and top-tier eats.

I love Barr Mansion! As a wedding photographer I have photographed many weddings here and each one has been so beautiful. There isn't a "bad" location to take photos anywhere on the property. I love that the bride and groom getting ready areas are in the same house and well decorated with plenty of natural lighting. So often the groom is put into a basement or a closet to get ready but not here, it's gorgeous inside of both rooms! Not to mention the reception also has incredible natural lighting. Highly recommend Barr Mansion!

We recently got married at the Barr Mansion and couldn't be more thrilled with how the day turned out! We knew the how stunning the property was but it has a certain extra glow on the wedding day that cannot be described!! The Barr Mansion team was incredibly professional during the planning process. They attentively listened to our questions, assured us with any concerns, and were SO accommodating to any creative request or curiosity we threw at them. Zach was amazing to work with and we are so grateful for his support! On the day itself the entire Barr Mansion staff was FANTASTIC. Every member of the bar and wait staff was so friendly and our guests continued to compliment us on how good the food and drinks were! Our guests kept complimenting us on our "flower drinks" that they were greeted with at the cocktail hour which we later found our were the just the Hugo Spritzes we served via our bar package but they made them extra special!! Truly the best of the best!! We are so happy we decided to go with this venue :)

Barr Mansion is a magical place and the people who work there are simply the best (especially Hollie and Hailea)! From the first time we toured the space, my husband and I were in love. The mixture of history, outdoor space and beautiful gardens were everything we didn't know we were looking for. The chef was amazing at helping to curate gluten free options for our celiac guests and create a stunning GF cake for the end of the night! Every single crazy and complicated request I made, Barr Mansion came through. And the millions of emails I sent were always addressed with patience and kindness. On the day of the wedding, everything was handled with such professionalism and precision! Thank you for making it the venue of our dreams! The bar staff, the wait staff, the furniture rentals, the mansion, the drinks, allowing us to bring in late night... literally every aspect was amazing and I am so grateful and lucky to have worked with them.

The first time we toured Barr Mansion was during the winter in 2022. We definitely loved the venue and knew we wanted a fall wedding. We came back in the spring when the grounds were in "bloom" and we were sold. We booked our date for September 2023. Barr staff were communicative leading up to the wedding and we enjoyed working with their venue manager, Ginifer. We have heard nothing but positive feedback from our guests on the food, drinks, service, and overall beauty of the venue. The only setback was a very slight delay with dinner being served, but our guests were well fed and hydrated and we danced the night away. We are so glad to have chosen Barr Mansion as our wedding venue!

Google
Barr Mansion was absolutely magical. The venue was perfect for my daughter’s wedding on June 15, 2024. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. But best of all, the grounds were the perfect backdrop for a late spring wedding! It was the perfect location for us.

Google
Cool wedding venue with a rustic charm and indoor/outdoor offerings. The large yard is great for weddings under an enormous oak tree. Ivy lines most of the structures making everything seem perfectly balanced with its natural area. The indoor reception areas are smaller than the photos on the website make them seem, but they are still lovely areas that will make any couple happy. The food is solid and generously portioned. Overall a good spot for a wedding.

Yelp
It is an amazing venue for a wedding ceremony and reception. There are many different photo opts and the grounds and indoor spaces are spacious and picturesque. My personal favorite was the photo of all our guests taken from the second floor balcony as they looked at the bride and groom after the ceremony. Everything from the dressing areas to the melodious sounds of the string quartet and finally the music and merriment at the reception were absolutely perfect.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, I don't even know where to start! Honestly, don't even look anywhere else--this is the place! From the moment I signed the contract in August 2023 to leaving in a getaway car with my husband in September 2024, the BM staff made me feel like their top priority. They were beyond accommodating, welcoming every idea I had and thoughtfully managing details I hadn't even thought of. I loved being able to show my parents the space at the 'Under the Stars' event (definitely check this out if you're considering the venue!), having a private menu tasting that fit our out-of-town schedule (the chef and the food here are simply phenomenal and a major highlight for our guests), and capturing a sweet photoshoot with my mom a few months before the wedding. Every chance I had to visit the venue and spend time with the amazing team, I took it! The staff was so cool, calm, and collected--I couldn't have felt more confident that everything would be perfect. Not to mention, the venue and property are just breathtaking! So many of our guests said it felt like a scene from a movie and was by far the best wedding they'd ever been to. I wish I could do it all over again! Thanks you, Barr Mansion!!!

Yelp
Beautiful venue for weddings and events. Nestled away under huge trees with several smaller buildings on the property.

Yelp
We had our wedding here on November 5th and it was everything we could have hoped for. The venue is beautiful. We had our ceremony in the farmstead building that easily held our 100+ guests and provided a bright, clean look with great light for our ceremony. We faced out towards the lawn and trees, which provided a lovely green backdrop for the ceremony. The reception was held in the barn after an outdoor cocktail hour and it was just fabulous. The cooperative weather definitely helped, but it was clear that had the weather gone south, there would have been many indoor options as needed. Our wedding was everything we hoped it would be and more and a large part of that had to do with this venue. In addition to the beautiful setting, the food and drinks were top notch. Everyone remembers if the food at a wedding is subpar, so we were sure we wanted to find a vendor that could provide delicious food for our wedding in addition to a great space and Barr more than delivered. It's so useful that the venue provides the food and bar as it was so many fewer things to worry about. The only decisions we had to make regarding food and drink were which delicious options we wanted, and that was quite difficult because there were so many good options after the complimentary tasting they offered. As a mostly one stop shop, this wedding venue is more than worth the cost. Highly recommend. This place has a lovely, unique personality coupled with a staff that are invested in making your wedding exactly perfect for you. They more than delivered for my new wife and I. We won't be trying to top this one, but were we to get married again, we'd probably try to come right back to Barr!

Yelp
My family of four attended a wedding ceremony and reception at this venue on wonderful evening. The venue was beautiful with a mixture of old and new structures. The ground was lushly maintained with beautiful plants and trees. All the employees were very friendly and helpful. More stalls were needed in the restrooms next to the reception hall. Also the pathway between the reception hall and parking needed brighter lights in the late evening. Several older attendees needed help in navigating the pathway in late night. Overall, this venue is definitely an excellent option in hosting any event.

J E.

Yelp
We attended a wedding here... which was a destination wedding. The staff were friendly and the venue is very nice looking. I loved the timber framing in the main hall. Food was excellent! Alcohol selection was just OK. It's relatively close to downtown Austin.

Yelp
I have always wanted to see this place. I've driven by many times and admired the pretty Victorian house. My friend got married recently & had her wedding & reception here. It was gorgeous, of course. They were married under the giant pecan tree next to the house. They are outdoorsy people, so it suited them perfectly. The cocktail hour prior to the reception was great. Another nice outdoor setting. I know they also were able to provide their own liquor, so that was nice. Barr provided the bartenders. The reception was beautiful in a barn- like building, but elegant, if that makes sense. The food was delicious. I had a special vegetarian dinner, that was the envy of the table - seriously that good. And of course dancing and the delicious cake. I would check this place out if I was looking at venues for a wedding. It was even nicer than I expected.

Yelp
The first venue I toured and I knew instantly that I wanted to get married here. My planner was the one and only Molly Mullaly and I can safely say that my day would not have been the same without her. She helped create my dream day and was ON IT always. She is the most talented event planner that I have ever worked with. Guests were so impressed with the grounds and we got so many compliments on the food. It truly was THE best wedding dinner we have ever had. Everything was quality and the servers were superb. Barr Mansion will always have a special place in my heart. If you're looking for the PERFECT venue to get married at... look no further. The most beautiful venue, the most helpful staff/management, and a night you will NEVER forget!

Yelp
We were here for a Happy Wednesday picnic outing and enjoyed it immensely! What a neat idea to introduce and monetize this hidden gem event space/ wedding venue! The live music was a lovely touch against the charming backdrop of the 100-year-old Victorian mansion. The grass on the grounds was well maintained and comfortable to lay out on. The food and beverage counters were spaced out so no one area was super crowded. The pizza lines were so long, just to get a number to order, and another 20 minutes to actually get to order, that we decided not to spend that time standing in line. The pictures look so good that we wish there was a better system (pre-order?). Parking is a challenge but the effort is worth the reward! Lovely date night spot (bring your own snacks).

Yelp
Beautiful wedding venue. The grounds were stunning. Reception hall was beautifully decorated. The food was good.

Yelp
My fiancée and I found them to be discriminating to her religion. They denied further communication and any contract with us service because we asked questions about not wanting to serve alcohol at our wedding. It's kind of sad and bipolar of them to say they want to work with us then deny us when we inquired about beverage service fees without alcohol. Unfortunately religious discrimination still exists and it's sad to see it at a place where people unite and commit to each other.

Quin T.

Yelp
Love Wednesday picnics! When we first got wind of these events, we booked the minute slots were released a month in advance because I was told that all reservations are sold out within the first week of release. I ADORE Molly and because of her, I was able to navigate the system and she patiently answered all of my questions that for some reason are not posted on their FAQ's page. So, I am going to do you all a solid and explain the process. In order to reserve your spot, you have to pre order your food and trust me...everything was so good! The pizzas were amazing, the boxes were great and the desserts were on point. We had a group of 10 (the max) so we ordered everything on the menu. We also chose VIP seating and it was so worth it. You need to specify you want outdoor seating as opposed to indoors. Also, while there are some lanterns spaced throughout, there is not enough light, so I highly recommend bringing some sort of candles. We brought flowers and it added a nice touch to our table. The time you reserve your food is the time it will be ready, but you can arrive as early as you want and after our experience, I strongly suggest that you do that, just so you get the lay of the land, find your seating area if you choose VIP or find a good spot on the ground. Also, they do not bring your food to your table, you have to wait in line and grab it yourself from a table. The wine is really good as are the craft cocktails...the La Passion was delish. The grounds are massive, the space is super cute and perfect for a group of friends. One last thing, there is not a time limit, but by the time we left around 9:45, there was only 1 other party left.

Carl P.

Yelp
Great venue for our wedding. They really do a great job maintaining the property. Coordination team was easy to work with and helpful throughout the process. Food was amazing. Thanks for everything Barr Mansion team!

Yelp
quick little tweek- we never visited Pecan Springs Ranch because we decided to go with Barr Mansion without visiting all our choices. Nothing against Pecan Springs! I'm sure it's lovely! No go read my full review. K.Thx.Bye.

Yelp
My husband and I got married at Barr Mansion two weeks ago. Not only was it the most incredible night of our lives - but I can't even count the number of people who told us it was the best wedding they've ever been to. Everything just exceeded our expectations. We worked with both Cori and Amy. In the beginning we were a little worried because we felt like they weren't responding to our questions as quickly as we'd like. But - a few weeks before the wedding, they both came through and made sure every detail was in place (taking all of the pressure off of us). The food was AMAZING!!! We went with the trout, coffee rubbed steak, Mac and cheese, green beans & melon salad. We were also told by *so many guests that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. It was the best food we've ever had at a wedding too - but maybe we're a little biased;) We also LOVED being able to have multiple locations for the events. We did the ceremony in the farmstead (so we got the beautiful view of the greenery/outside area - but our guests were also protected by air conditioning and fans). We did cocktail hour on the patio area outside and then dinner in the ballroom. I could go on and on about how incredible our wedding was. But I can honestly say everything from the planning to the execution was perfect. Barr Mansion is the most gorgeous wedding venue we've ever experienced and Cori and Amy both made sure it was a night to remember.

Yelp
At Barr Mansion there is such a thing as a perfect wedding! As the mother of the bride you want everything on your daughter's wedding day to be perfect and I have to say from day one and with over a year of planning there were no problems. Zero. Having the gorgeous venue, catering, and bridal cake available under the same roof was a huge help. But best part was having the event coordinator, Margaret Deal! Margaret's confident, calm demeanor, her knowledgable and professional leadership and expertise made the work of wedding planning fun and pleasant. The actual wedding day flowed flawlessly as Margaret stealthily floated around the event keeping her team, the bridal party, the guests, and all the vendors happy, synchronized and beautifully coordinated. Our guests were filled with compliments about the fabulous venue, the delicious food and drinks but I was amazed at how many people noticed and loved the seamless, calm flow of the wedding timeline. The only way that happened was because of Margaret, Bella, the attentive banquet and bar mangers and all the outstanding staff at Barr Mansion. It was a magical, blessed evening. Thank you Margaret and Bella and all the Barr Mansion staff who helped to Madeline and Matt's wedding day perfect. I'm one grateful MOB!

Yelp
From the minute we walked onto the beautiful grounds of Barr Mansion during our first site visit, we knew that we had found our dream wedding venue. Barr Mansion is made up of everything that Austin has to offer: endless beauty, wonder, romance, and rustic charm. The venue consists of an 18th century artisan ballroom, a farmstead hewn with Texas timber, a vintage Victorian mansion, and 29,000 sq ft of gorgeous greenery. Fun fact: Barr Mansion is the first USDA certified organic farm-to-table event space in the country. You guessed it, it's heaven on earth! Becki, our sales manager at Barr Mansion was so warm, accommodating, and welcoming during the initial planning phases of our wedding. As a same sex couple, we were a little apprehensive with how wedding venues would receive us. However, Becki and team welcomed us (without an ounce of hesitation) with nothing but love, excitement, and open arms! Becki introduced us to Cori, their wedding coordination manager, and we hit it off instantly. Cori is as wonderful, charismatic, and authentic as they come. She is genuinely so enthusiastic with helping you plan the wedding of your dreams! When it comes to the MANY stressors of planning a wedding, Cori brings a calm and confident presence that is absolutely vital to have on your team. Cori is well organized, takes great pride in her profession, and is incredibly gifted in her craft. During our first meeting, Cori asked us what our ideal wedding would look like. We told her what we had envisioned and she was critical with helping us plan and bring our thoughts and ideas to life. Our wedding on 2.2.2020 was everything we could have imagined and more!!! It was pure MAGIC! From the amazing weather, gorgeous grounds, the breathtaking decor and beautiful flowers, we were simply captivated by how incredibly perfect it all turned out! During our wedding, I had to pinch myself and ask if I was in a dream! It felt like a real life fairy tale and we were all floating in the clouds. And the food! Executive chef Jessie and team knocked it out of the ballpark with our menu, and our guests could not stop talking about how delicious everything was. That spiced apple cake and tres leches desserts, WOW! From our coordinator Cori, to the chef/kitchen, to the servers, to the bartenders, to even the security team, the service during our entire wedding was OUTSTANDING. We would recommend Barr Mansion over and over again!! Our only regret is that we can not get married at Barr Mansion over and over again. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU Barr Mansion for making TWO BRIDES' wedding dreams come true!!! XO S&J

Yelp
Where do I even start for this truly magical business?! Every single experience we have had at Barr Mansion has been top notch! We just recently moved to Austin and have enjoyed their farmers markets(artisan crackers and orzo chicken salad were to die for) pizza and pints (Incredible fungi pizza, home made delicious s'mores, jasmine tres leches, brownies, bbq chicken...) Bazar and hopefully more amazing things to come. The food is homemade and out of this world! The staff is exceptional and always happy to help and accommodate needs. The venue is gorgeous with beautiful aromatic flowers, trees, beautiful green grounds and a historical mansion and modern ballroom. They always invite great vendors and make you feel at home. During Covid they also have gone above and beyond to make guests feel safe with their mask policies, grass cut especially for socially distancing, complete online ordering, and overall cleanliness of site. I'm not sure what anyone could want more! On a personal note we recently eloped and will absolutely be using this venue to host a reception when it is safe to do so. Thank you for helping us to create great memories even amidst a pandemic! We are looking forward to more epic times! Thank Barr Mansion and your awesome staff!

Danielle K.

Yelp
Such a beautiful facility! The night was made perfect by Molly, the Manager. She treated our party like royalty. Thank you, Molly!

Brooke A.

Yelp
Would would've thought this little gem existed so close to Austin? I had heard rumors, but never knew until I experienced it myself. Tucked just about 10 minutes from downtown is an event space that rallies those gorgeous ones out in Dripping Springs! They have both an indoor and outdoor space that I believe can host up to 300 people. Inside is decorated nicely with a rustic outdoor edge minus the particle board ceiling. Outside will definitely need coordination with decor. But I guess that just makes it an open canvas. The grounds are beautiful. Bathrooms are sparse. Only two. And the band area is small if desired indoors. Their own chef makes incredible dishes. I loved the spaghetti squash with pesto & and I tried a fabulous dessert of strawberry French macaroons. I would recommend this site for any future brides looking for a country chic environment close to town!

Yelp
We attended a wedding of our good friends yesterday. The mansion itself, I didn't get to see much of, since the wedding was outside, and in the reception hall right next to the mansion. I was in a suit, and the wedding was outside, but it really wasn't that bad at all, I could see it would be pretty dang hot during typical summer days. The "Artisan" reception hall was really quite cool. The wedding party consisted of about 75 folks.. and the room seemed to accommodate that number comfortably, but it would be a tight squeeze if there were100 or so. The building was beautiful, thatched roof, with windows all around. Somewhat like a huge greenhouse for people. The food was really good. Halibut and steak with potatoes, grilled vegetables and salad. The halibut was excellent, and I got a butt end of the steak, so a little tough, but that was my choice. The wedding was a great success. Here is my only peeve... the drive up Sprinkle road is going to be a challenge if you have decided to partake of the party favors. First, it is not well lit, and secondly they have these things called roundabouts. At least that is what they were called in England. I remarked to Suzi on the way in that they were pretty effective way to slow traffic down. So, don't be that party guest, who won the ice sculpture vodka luge chugging contest, face planted while attempting the limbo line, insisted they play the song that goes.. "I like big butts, that I can't deny", used your tie as a head band during the Guns & Roses set and ended up in the middle of the roundabout, wrecked, trying to figure out what you are going to say to Johnny Law..

Yelp
The most important day of our lives was made infinitely better by the awesome staff of Barr Mansion. Cori was a rockstar, and made sure that the timeline we had agreed to beforehand was followed precisely. The venue is maintained beautifully, and the food was beyond our wildest expectations. There is absolutely no doubt that Barr Mansion was worth every penny spent. Make sure that you attend their Open House events where you are introduced to some of their preferred vendors! Barr Mansion is the best, and they work with extremely talented individuals who make your big day the best it can be. Nothing but rave reviews for Cori and the rest of the team from my beautiful wife and I!

Yelp
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect thanks to Barr Mansion. The thing that drew us to Barr Mansion (other than the stunning venue) was that Rick and Elyse would be there throughout the planning process and would take care of us on the day of the wedding. Both Elyse and Rick were very quick to respond and always patient in answering any questions we had during the planning process. It was definitely a great feeling showing up on our wedding day knowing that our day would be in good hands. We were married under the pecan tree in late April and the grounds were STUNNING. If you can snag a date in late April/early May DO IT! The weather was comfortable, the tree had leafed out, the grass was bright green and all the spring flowers were in bloom. The appetizers, dinner and wedding cake were all delicious and we even took advantage of the brick oven to have a late night pizza snack for all our guests. One thing we really liked about Barr Mansion was that we were able to provide the alcohol, which really made a difference in our alcohol budget compared to the pricey "alcohol packages" offered by most wedding venues. Everyone kept telling me that "something always goes wrong on your wedding day" but that couldn't have been further from the truth when it came to our wedding. Elyse ran everything so smoothly that we never had to worry about a single thing. She kept us on schedule but was never pushy and worked with our DJ to make sure everyone knew what was happening. The evening went by so quickly, but we were both able to relax and enjoy the moment with our friends and family which, in the end, is exactly what everyone wants for their wedding. I couldn't recommend Barr Mansion and their incredible staff more. They truly made our wedding perfect. Thank you, Elyse, Rick and Barr Mansion!

Lacey P.

Yelp
We had our 3/16/13 wedding here. We started out with Rick Rabon and then Elyse took over and was our day of coordinator. We loved them both. They provided us an extensive list of vendors (you don't have to use ANY of them, just to help out) and some give discounts to Barr Mansion brides which is nice. They help you figure out how much alcohol to order and a timeline for the whole year leading up to the wedding which is really nice. If you are organized then you don't need a wedding planner with this venue. They take care of so much! We went to the menu/cake tasting in November which is held once a quarter for all the brides/grooms for the next 3 months of weddings. It was like a large fancy dinner with open bar of beer/wines, appetizers, entrees, soup, & desserts. The food was very unique (some we LOVED & some was just okay...which is the point of the menu tasting). I really enjoyed getting to try so many options & had fun mingling with the other engaged couples. The venue is a mix of rustic elegance & only 20 minutes from downtown. Our guests stayed at The Westin at The Domain due to SXSW & that worked out well. Elyse coordinated the whole wedding day flawlessly. She is great to work with, very responsive to emails & a sweet girl in general. I would recommend her over and over again. Cons: -Food was a little cold (but we did serve 165 people & were 15 minutes behind schedule b/c of a bus driver mishap) still it could have been warmer lol, -I asked Elyse to fix me & my husband a to-go plate for the limo to the hotel b/c we didn't even have time to eat! She replied "Your guests are eating a lot I don't think there is going to be any food left!" I was a little irritated with that lol because 1) we are the bride & groom and 2) we put down 175 people for our final head count & 10 people that RSVPed didn't come - so I'm not sure how we ran out of food..... shouldn't the caterer/chef make sure they ordered enough? just a little strange -they do up charge on the little extras...but hey EVERY venue we looked at did the exact same thing so don't be all surprised lol -Melanie wrote on a previous review that all brides are asked to fill out a questionnaire post-wedding....well its been over a month and I have never heard from them again. I have no real complaints, but just FYI they either forgot or don't have an exit survey, b/c I never got one. -This isn't a con but its strange - they only serve organic food...so Austin people that are green, organic friendly whatever will love it but me and my husband aren't into that stuff so we found it odd. Some of our 'green Austiny' guests loved it though haha Pros: -Rick & Elyse. PERIOD. they are great, sweet-hearted people. I am glad to have met them & had the pleasure of working with them. -Elyse made special requests happen (we wanted to save the wine, champagne & beer bottles, caps & corks b/c my MIL makes lamps out of them - she saved me 5 boxes of them!!) -Versatile venue - rustic old mansion out front, stunning modern ballroom out back. best of both worlds! -Plan B available!!! if it rained we had a Plan B in the ballroom - this was huge to me as I did not want to have to worry about weather issues, luckily it was 80 & breezy so our sunset outdoor ceremony under the pecan tree was gorgeous -great catering staff, they were attentive & professional (during our wedding photos this server even kept trying to sneak us some food! we had so many photos to take that I really appreciated his efforts for us to get a quick bite in there!) -The drapery extra we added on to our pkg was beautiful & worth every penny Now keep in mind those cons were the ONLY things I can think of that weren't absolutely perfect. Elyse as a coordinator is detail oriented, flexible & fabulous. You will love her. I would do everything the exact same over and over again. Elyse is laid back & when our bus driver bringing guests from the hotel was running late she quickly took care of the timeline - adjusted things around - and no one was the wiser! She works well under pressure & there was not one bit of drama the whole night. Thank you so much Elyse for making our big day so smooth and stress-free! I highly recommend Elyse and The Barr Mansion for your wedding venue. It was everything we ever wanted and more!

There are not enough nice words in the english language to fully describe how I feel about the sales manager of Barr Mansion, Lily McCall. She is a breath of fresh air and truly one of the nicest people I know. My wife and I got married here on Sept. 20, 2015 and it would be best described as magical. I owe the majority of that to Lily and the staff at Barr. They went over and above to ensure that our day was perfection. My wife and I were the first legal same-sex wedding at Barr and they were very happy to have us. Austin is extremely gay friendly but you never know when you go to places how the reaction will be. The grounds at Barr are amazing, the gardens are beautiful and inspiring. Barr is a one stop shop; they have their own tables, chairs, linens, dishes, flatware, glasses, bartenders, food (which is DELICIOUS, every guest loved it), and cake. I highly recommend Barr Mansion. I'm trying to find an excuse to have another party here!

Yelp
Molly and the Barr Mansion team were so helpful in making our November 2020 wedding in the midst of COVID run smoothly. Molly didn't bat an eye when we approached her with our own social distancing/safety guidelines that we felt were necessary to pull off a wedding in a pandemic. She was quick at responding to our emails and helped us navigate all of the changes we had to make due to COVID without making us feel stressed. The staff the day of our wedding were so friendly and awesome. The venue is absolutely stunning (we did everything outside), our guests were raving about the food, and we're still dreaming about the cake. We'd highly recommend Barr Mansion as a wedding venue.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful venue with incredibly professional staff! We hosted our annual fundraising event (small nonprofit) for 200 guests, and we continually heard that this was the best one thus far. Mia's willingness to customize the venue's set up and make it fit our organization's "feel" made it that much better. I would highly recommend this venue. For price, food quality, service, and scenery, you are not going to find anything better in Austin. My sincere gratitude, Eliana Brown Spirit Reins

Yelp
The venue is beautiful but the management is not up to par. At the wedding I attended they threw the wedding cake into a cardboard beer box, unwrapped..... Did not give the leftover food to the family even though 14 guests were not there. They did not supervise the Bridal dressing room and everyone's items were tossed about and two wedding gifts are missing! So is the first layer of the wedding cake! They made no attempt at restitution or recompense. And that flagstone path is hell to walk on in heels. Beware of the unprofessional treatment you will receive here!

Yelp
Just got married here last weekend and I can't recommend this place enough. It's everything I wanted, the beautiful outdoor gardens and the amazing artisan ballroom created a perfect day. The most important thing to me in a venue was finding a place with the right ambiance and exhibited the feel of Austin. Barr Mansion definitely had both. It looked like a dream lit up at night. The best part is its almost a one-stop shop. We had the wedding and reception here, Abby did the flowers, Rick coordinated, they do the food and the cake (everyone loved it!) and you can bring in your own alcohol. The food is mostly organic and they use fresh, local ingredients. It's also a green building which I loved. Everyone was so impressed with the place and I couldn't have asked for more. Well, except maybe a little A/C outside. Texas in October is still pretty warm!

Yelp
I cannot say enough amazing things about Barr Mansion. My husband and I got married a couple of weeks ago at Barr. From the very beginning, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We looked at plenty of other venues in the Austin area, but as soon as we toured the grounds, I knew this was the right place for us. We also loved the fact that they had an onsite wedding coordinator, onsite staffing for the wedding (servers and bartenders), and an amazing chef, who put together an awesome menu for us! We had a brunch wedding here, so we had a lot of fun deciding on our menu! Our guests are still raving about how good the food was!!! Hats off to you, Thomas!!! The best thing about Barr Mansion, for me, was our wedding coordinator Shanna!!! She really turned my dream wedding into reality. She was so accommodating throughout the entire planning process. She was always available to us and was very prompt with returning calls and emails. She had some awesome ideas for decor, as well as our menu. Because of her, our wedding was a complete success. And because I did not have an outside wedding planner, I basically did everything on my own, which can be very scary and stressful. Shanna took everything into her own hands and assured me everything would be perfect. When I walked into our reception, all the decor and every little detail was beyond my expectations. Everything was set up and decorated beautifully!!! I still tear up just thinking about how wonderful everything was! Hah! Thank you Shanna for being so amazing and thank you Barr staff for being so awesome!!!! Because of you, our wedding was PERFECT!

Yelp
Wow, just wow. I recently had a wedding at Barr Mansion. The scenery, astounding. The venue, at first glance, immaculate. Everything was going great or so I thought. My major complaint revolves around the management. Rick Rabon, the coordinator, was just completely incapable of discharging the duties we PAID him for. His staff seemed to have NO idea what was going on and we was not providing them any direction at all. The responsibility fell on me to organize the servers because guests were coming to ME, complaining to ME, that they weren't receiving service! To top that all off, by the end of the night Rick had clearly had a few too many. When I confronted him about drinking while on the job, he told me he hadn't consumed a drop of alcohol. I WATCHED with my own two eyes the bartender pouring a drink, handing it to him, and Rick bringing the glass to his mouth as he entered the back area. I was astounded that he would just lie straight to my face. Ugh. Beware these people and this venue. . . at least until they get their management sorted out.

Yelp
My first thought? Holy schnikes, this is far out here. My second? I'm definitely lost. But when I finally figured out where the place was and dropped in for a Loire Valley wine tasting, I was quite impressed with the overall feel of the place. It's peaceful, it's classic, it's classy without being pretentious. A perfect place for a wedding (and I'm sure it's probably $) but they've got ample indoor ballroom and manicured grounds with warm hanging lanterns, scattered seatings and juuuuuust enough quaint infrastructure to make it feel like someones home. Despite the fact that it's more north than I imagined, its solitude is welcome and the place looks just gorgeous all lit up. My advice? If you're invited to a wedding or event there, go. Even if it means you have to do the chicken dance.

Yelp
I was a bridesmaid at a wedding here last weekend. Having just planned my own wedding, I can appreciate a full service wedding venue such as Barr Mansion. Sure its a bit out of the way, but the venue itself is absolutely gorgeous. Rick, the wedding planner, went above and beyond to know the couple's style/feel inside and out so that the wedding was truly unique to their tastes. We had an unfortunate event at the wedding- a man collapsed with a heart attack during the bride and grooms announcement into the tent. Not only did Barr mansion handle this situation incredibly well, but after the man had been taken off to the hospital, they were able to get the wedding going again so the bride and groom had their special night despite the unfortunate events. The man who collapsed is doing just fine by the way. The food was very good. It was a buffet that seemed very fresh/organic. The bride herself is a vegan and i noticed they had plated her a special "vegan" meal made specially for her. How sweet! The wedding cake was absolutely outstanding. Ive never had such a good carrot cake in my life and i wanted to go back for more!!!

Yelp
We live in San Diego and got married at Barr Mansion this past October. Having everything (catering, set up, cleaning, coordinating etc) done in house made it so much easier for us planning from afar. This gave me the time to focus on the decor, which was the fun part for me. The grounds are beautiful and there is a happy "magical" feeling when I am there. We loved that there was so much space to spread your events throughout the property. We were married under the tree, had cocktail hour on the grounds outside the ballroom, and had the reception in the ballroom. All of our guests were so impressed with the beautiful venue and how smoothly the whole wedding was. They are still saying that I pulled off "the perfect wedding". I owe that to the staff of Barr Mansion, being on top of everything and seamlessly moving the night along our planned timeline. The food was all great and we received so many compliments on the meal, especially the halibut, mashed potatoes and Italian cream cake. Everyone was so nice and accommodating to us and all our guests, especially our coordinator Nicole along with the banquet manager Andy. We had a walkthrough with Elyse prior to being assigned with Nicole. Even though we didn't have the chance to work with Elyse, we are sure she would be an awesome coordinator as well. Now let me just talk about NICOLE! Seriously made everything so perfect for us from our first meeting. She would find ways to accommodate any of our requests and make things happen. We knew we were in good hands along the planning process and she exceeded our expectations the day of. I had extensive set up tasks for my bridal party with info packets because I am an interior designer and designed the event. The limo was late picking us up due to traffic and we were late getting to Barr the day of. Nicole sent me a text reassuring me that everything was fine and she set everything up already! At times I would turn around and she would be there with my Sauvignon Blanc in hand for me. . . just when I needed it. She is amazing at what she does and she's a super cool person. We were so happy and thankful for all the help she was leading up to and on our special day. I highly recommend Barr Mansion for it's beautiful grounds, great food, exceptional service and awesome coordinators. I was actually sad to leave this place because the night was so magical. I wish I could do it all over again . . . and it would definitely be at Barr :)

Yelp
We were married at Barr Mansion last weekend. It was the first of more than a dozen venues we looked at, and it was honestly love at first sight. The mansion, ballroom, and the property as a whole, is gorgeous. Hannah was the only person in our venue search that took the time to sit down with us after the site tour and go over options and pricing in great detail. She was the one who earned our business. We chose the pecan tree for our ceremony. We found comfort in the fact that if the April weather didn't cooperate, the rain plan was still very appealing. We planned everything from out-of-state, so it was awesome to have a venue that handled the day-of coordination, food, cakes, tables, chairs, linens and dinnerware in-house. We have fairly discerning tastes in beer and wine, so we enjoyed having the freedom to bring in our own alcohol. We did, however, run into some issues. I agree with other Yelp reviewers about management confusion. After Hannah's departure from her job at Barr, Rick informed us that he would be our new coordinator. Then, we were promptly reassigned to work with to Elyse instead, "since our wedding was on a Sunday." After the Elyse hand off, I e-mailed her and Rick to confirm the time of our rehearsal. Rick said our rehearsal would be held on Saturday, the day before our wedding (naturally). Elyse e-mailed us the same day informing us that the rehearsal would have to be on Friday, since Saturday was booked all day with events. Since 85% of our guests were coming to Austin from out of town, moving the rehearsal to Friday would have caused major problems. We decided to call Rick about everything (why wouldn't he call us?). The rehearsal was on for Saturday, and I was assured everything would be fine. One week later, we were informed that our day-of coordinator would be Nicole instead. Now on our fourth coordinator, all the small details we talked about with Hannah on day one had been completely lost. We feel we were continuously handed off because we were having a small wedding on a Sunday. The good news is that Miss Nicole totally saved the day. She was in touch with us immediately and put two in-person planning meetings on the calendar when she knew we would be in town visiting. She did an awesome job of making sure all the small details were perfect. She even helped us get a custom cake flavor that was not on the tasting menu, even though Rick told us he would research it when we saw him at the harvest tasting (where we saw him drinking alcohol). We submitted our guest count two days before our contracted deadline, and when I asked to add our vendor meals the day before the final count was due, Rick wrote back saying that it was too late to add them. He suggested we call Jason's Deli to deliver food for them. We honestly thought he was kidding - he wasn't. Luckily, the chef was able to add to our food order to accommodate us. All things said and done, our day was amazing. We are still getting compliments on the gorgeous venue and the food. Nicole seriously worked her butt off to make sure everything was perfect. She kept the evening running smoothly, and made sure we were comfortable from the second we arrived until right before the send off. THANK YOU, NICOLE!!! If you book an event at Barr, be prepared to be extremely proactive about communication. Ensure that your deposits and payments are made on time. Double check the costs and payment due dates on your paperwork before you sign anything (our original contract said the final payment was due in April 2012 - they meant to put 2013). Based on our experience, you will likely be the one to confirm details, receipt of paperwork, deposits and payments.

Yelp
Been to a couple of Jewish weddings here. The venue is nice and secluded. The servers here are really cool! The inside of the mansion is creaky and some of the doors get stuck, but that just adds to the charm.

Yelp
Beautiful venue 30 minutes outside of Austin. My sister was married here during sunset and it was amazing. The charm of Barr home and the upscale modern glass barn were a great contrast but seemed to work in harmony. I had a great time here and the grounds are awesome and takes great photos (even with my little skill). I can't comment to the operations of the venue but everything at her wedding seem to go off without a hitch. She was happy as well as her guests.

Yelp
I didnt use this space for my wedding but we did check it out as an option. This place was quite nice. The mansion is in the front but the space you would actually use is out back. Very nice, rustic chic locale. They only use organic organic organic.. which in my head is pricey pricey pricey. means I'm sure it will taste devine but I just couldnt justify the expense. For the small wedding we wanted with the star system they go by it was around $14k. That's before dress, make up hair, flowers, decorations, limo, photog, videog, anything. I just couldnt justify it. However the lady in charge that showed us everything was AWESOME. i LOVED HER. absolutely would have worked with her if I had the type of family that had been saving since I was born for this wedding. But I dont, and since we are paying for the wedding we had to find another location. I can honestly say I considered moving things around to make it work but what really got me, they charge you an extra $300 here and $200 there for lights and decor that go outside... really? You charge me fourteen thousand dollars for venue and food ... but you have to add an additional $300 for lights that are already there... its more of a hassle for you to take them down then to just leave them there as a part of your charm... IMHO. Also the fabric hanging in the venue space is extra also. This just struck a cord with us and ultimately we had to go elsewhere... Other than that, this place isnt that far out , is quite lovely and Nicole was so sweet and nice, like I said I would have loved loved loved to have worked with her. Good luck to all the brides and grooms that choose this great locale for their special day.

Yelp
We got married in July 2015, and the Barr was fantastic. My wife and I live in the Bay Area and booked the Barr based on our moms' recommendations. We only got to visit twice before coming home for the wedding, and it worked out amazingly well. The fact that the Barr does pretty much everything we could need under one roof, made it easy to handle everything without a lot of trips or any headache when we were in Austin. Shanna was incredibly helpful for long-distance planning. We made sure to come back for one of the monthly tastings, and she helped us pick out a menu and customize a couple dishes. She had great input on how to smoothly do all the things we wanted as well as great ideas when we didn't have any of our own. She was invaluable. She, and the whole Barr staff, made the day-of run as smoothly as it could have. We had zero stress and a lot of fun. The food was delicious, the space was beautiful in person and in the pictures we got, and everyone there was super friendly. The Barr was a huge part of why we had such a wonderful day. Thanks!

Yelp
Cori was fabulous in planning and day of problem solving. Beautiful venue, friendly helpful staff with many thoughtful touches.

Yelp
If you are looking for your fairytale wedding, you'll find it here, at Barr Mansion. Before we found BM, we toured 7 different very beautiful venues in the Greater Austin Area. And if we wanted an averagely beautiful venue, we would have gone with one of those other 7 venues. But we didn't. What we envisioned for ourselves and for our guests was an intensely SPECIAL wedding evening experience. And, Barr Mansion and Elyse gave us just that and MORE. Elyse specifically, made our entire day magical. She was never pushy and was able to envision what I saw for our wedding day. She also of course went above and beyond to ensure the day went according to plan. KUDOS to you, Elyse. You are an angel. VENUE and FOOD: FOOD- A+++ I'm a huuuuge foodie and food critic. Barr Mansion killed it with their menu, offering nothing but the most fresh, organic and local meats and produce. My guests are STILL raving about the dinner, specifically the tenderloin and garlic mashed potatoes. BEVERAGE- Bartenders were quick, friendly and on top of their game. WE had some heavy hitters that came to drink. There was never a long line or wait for a drink. Kudos to Andy and his team. Bride/Grooms Parlor- So vintage chic! I loved that we had rooms across the hall from one another. We could hear the fun and laughs coming from each others room and it made it all the more special. Glass Barn- If you haven't seen it in person, GO! This place unlike any other reception site, especially at night. It actually glows people. Bottom line, Elyse and the Barr Mansion team eased ALL my wedding fears. The entire day/evening was perfection. I never knew that was even possible. Cheers. I

Yelp
We had our daughter's wedding at Barr Mansion and the entire event from start of planning to final moments was excellent. The food was delicious and hot. The food & beverage service was good. Our coordinator, Aislinn Perez, was outstanding - professional and completely in charge; politely firm when she needed to be to keep us on schedule and calm at all times. Her colleague, Heather, was equally professional. A shout out to Rudy who arranges the ballroom for each event to the coordinator and client's design. The bride & groom, both families, and all our guests would agree that our wedding was a beautiful and memorable experience.

Yelp
I hear that everyone has weddings here and after looking it up online and learning that they are focused on being as environmentally friendly as possible -- think organic, recyclable, composting, and green, but wrapped in a very pretty package -- I was very interested to see what it was all about. Since I couldn't seem to score any wedding invitations, I jumped at the chance to attend a concert/fundraiser at the Barr Mansion, which is nestled in a little-thought-about northern corner of East Austin between Cameron Road and 290 off of Springdale. As you drive out to the Mansion, you suddenly feel as if you are in the country, even though you are only minutes from Central Austin. On the appointed evening, the somewhat hefty benefit ticket price ($35) kept the wine and cheese flowing, raised money for some local musicians, and gave me a chance to check out the goods. You don't have to take it from me, but I was impressed. The Artisan Ballroom boasts sky-high ceilings, rough timber framing, glass windows, and a waterfall. It sounds like an improbable architectural combination, but the space feels at once romantic and rugged. Outside the Artisan Ballroom there is a large area filled with plants and small, white rocks. On the evening that I attended the concert, the rocks had been raked into large zen-garden-like patterns comprised of swirls and other shapes. While I have not been in the mansion proper or organized an event with the Barr Mansion, If the rock patterns are any indication of their event planning skills, I'd wager to say that they have outstanding attention to detail. Now all I need is an excuse to plan an event at the Barr Mansion!

Yelp
My wife and I were married at Barr Mansion in October of 2017 and I simply cannot imagine a better venue for the most important day of our lives. If the quality of service were not exceptional (which it is), the beauty of Barr Mansion itself warrants a 5-star review. We cannot thank Aislinn and the entire BM staff enough for all of their help. They were prompt to answer any questions via phone or email and even encouraged us to stop by the venue whenever we wanted. We enjoyed tasting the food menu with other couples a few weeks ahead of our big day and were supremely confident that all would run smoothly the day of. Thanks to Aislinn (and other BM staff), that was exactly the case. Thank you again!!

Yelp
This is a beautiful venue for weddings. The house provides a great space for everyone to get ready - it's beautiful in that classically romantic kind of way and makes for lovely photographs. The lawn and garden, on those days that are nice enough, make for a lovely outdoor wedding. The grass is green, the flowers always kept in great shape, but not overdone, the paper lamps in the trees providing a bit of magic. The "glass barn" as a backup venue for not-so-nice days and reception venue for the nice ones is striking, creating an intimate environment as the sun sets. The food, all organic and prepared on site, is excellent and plentiful. With passed appetizers for cocktail hour, then a buffet for dinner, all the guests seemed satisfied, vegetarian or carnivore. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to most things, the exception being keeping non-organic foods in their fridge. The other downside to this venue is expense - while there are certainly are more expensive venues in Austin, this one has a way of charging quite a bit for lots of little things.

Abigail M.

Yelp
Amazing - everyone at the wedding was pleased with the attentiveness of the staff, the timeliness of drinks and food, and the air of fun professionalism. A+. I read this morning that there's been a fire on the property, so I wanted to emphasize the great staff, and the beautiful tent they set up for us. Brides planning on getting married at Barr Mansion this summer: never fear. Barr staff will make the event gorgeous with or without the original building set-up you imagined. My mother and I had a great experience before the wedding with preparation. I can't remember a time an email wasn't answered in 24 hours or a phone call wasn't returned. Everyone was very accessible and accommodating. And when we were on site to make decisions, we never felt rushed. Rick was fantastic. Particularly memorable to me was his cheerful attitude, especially in the face of a hand injury he received a couple of weeks before our wedding. He helped me (and my charming, yet full-o-questions mother) with paring down all the questions to the few real decisions we had to make. He made it all easy. The cakes were beautiful. So gorgeously decorated - both - and tasty! I can't wait for our first anniversary to have a taste again. The Lemon wedding cake with citrus icing was a dream. Going "organic" does not sacrifice any flavor, presentation, or fun. "Great work" to the chefs. We are generally impressed by everything that comes out of Barr's chapel-kitchen.

Yelp
We had our wedding at the Barr Mansion in August. The venue location and indoor ceremony space is beautiful. Both the dinner and dessert catering were exquisite and nicely served in the family style we opted for. The bridal and groom suite were easily accesible from the ceremony space in order to help transition between ceremony and reception. The day-of coordination was helpful and eased stress off our day. The reason we give this review 4 stars instead of 5 is there was some delayed communication early on regarding coordination and the tasting. Overall, we would recommend the Barr Mansion for weddings.

Brittney P.

Yelp
I work for a Fortune 15 company that recently held our leadership conference at Barr Mansion; the event was a huge success with raves about the beautiful venue, landscape, AND the food! Our program lasted from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM, and Barr Mansion provided the perfect backdrop for a day of engagement. The coordinators were incredible to work with, and made the planning experience way less stressful. I highly recommend using Barr Mansion for your upcoming event!

Vincent N.

Yelp
Friends had their wedding there, beautiful place. The glass barn can be used as a reception area or wedding area or both! It is all glass, and its beautiful! Check it out!
