The 12 Best Mexican Restaurants In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Barra Vieja doesn’t just stand out because of its aggressively blue paint job, but also because of the good aguachiles and seafood tostadas, which are hard to find in Doral. Their Acapulco tostada is generously loaded with crab salad, shrimp, and octopus. It’s nutty, spicy, and we’d happily inhale five of them if they weren’t $22. There’s usually a mariachi band in the dining room on Sundays from 6-8pm, but during the week, expect the crunch of your tostada to be the loudest thing in the restaurant (second to the blue walls, of course)." - virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer

Barra Vieja Doral - Review - Doral - Miami - The Infatuation

Food Rundown Aguachile Verde De Camarón What this aguachile lacks in spice, it makes up for with a generous use of lime. It doesn’t come with chips, but you should consider them a necessary additional charge. PlayMute video credit: Mariana Trabanino Tostada De Atún You’d think the salsa negra, salsa macha, and pumpkin seeds would be a bit too busy, but it all works like a faultless assembly line. PlayMute video credit: Mariana Trabanino Tostada Acapulco The day we win the lottery, we won’t say anything. We will quietly come here and order a dozen of these creamy, nutty $22 tostadas. photo credit: Barra Vieja Elote Tres Leches We should’ve been dunking corn bread in sweet milk liquid eons ago. This elote tres leches is proof of that. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Spicy Margarita We like what's happening on the outside of this drink—the Tajín-covered rim. The margarita itself is too sugary." - Mariana Trabanino

Miami’s New Restaurant Openings

"There aren’t many good Mexican restaurants in Miami, so hopefully the tuna tostadas, enchiladas verdes, and molcajete from this new Doral spot are as good as they sound." - mariana trabanino

The exceptional location and attentive staff have left us in awe. We embarked on a culinary journey with an early dinner, and the food was nothing short of extraordinary. Great Lively Atmosphere! The DJ was on point with every track! Very hard to talk to people at the table though. Service was wonderful and very accommodating! The chorizo queso and carne asada are musts. Water was dripping on tables and people from the vents above but thankful they had other tables to move us to!

We absolutely LOVED this place: food and drinks were AMAZING, seafood tostada was our favorite dish and tuna taquitos as an app were incredible. “Chef Margarita” I think it’s called my favorite drink which is a margarita with Aperol and tangerine juice. Fish tacos were also really good! We’ll be back soon ❤️

I loved this restaurant, I wish more people would come here, they have such a welcoming energy and the service is absolutely phenomenal, Margarita our server was a star, she was so cute and explained the dishes very well too. The fish tacos were super flavorful, and the guac was amazing. I left this restaurant feeling so happy and full, I would definitely recommend stopping by Barra Vieja and enjoying the amazing food, service, music and atmosphere.

Margarita was the absolute best server I have had! She was extremely kind and the food was phenomenal! I have a severe allergy to soy and soybean oil and she ENSURED with the head chef that the food was okay for me to eat!

Yelp
I frequent Downtown Doral restaurants. Saw that this Mexican Food restaurant had just opened for business and decided to try it out. My wife and I walked in and we were promptly greeted and seated. Our server Carlos was great, the manager also came to our table to welcome us. Food and drinks were outstanding. Ambiance is nice. We will definitely return.

Yelp
This new spot recently opened up in Downtown Doral. It is very lit up, big open space. From the moment O walked in, the host was very courteous and friendly. The place was not so full as it was lunch time but people started to slowly trickle in. The waiter was very attentive and when i asked for his recommendation, he honestly gave me his opinion and was very helpful. I ended up ordering the Birria Bowl which was pretty big size for a lunch portion. As I started eating, the GM came over and asked how everything was going and if i was satisfied with the meal. While I waited, I ordered chips and salsa which, you can't go wrong with. Definitely recommend trying g it out.

Yelp
The BEST Mexican restaurant in Doral. The space is ample and bright, beautifully decorated with modern touches that will make you feel you're at one the most posh restaurants in Mexico. It's spotless clean and well organized throughout, including the restrooms. The food is innovative and absolutely delicious. The happy hour and specialty cocktails are perfectly balanced and super tasty. The staff is the best in the business; incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Apolinar, the bar mixologist, and Jorge, our server, are among the best hospitality staff we've ever met, and the manager, Christian, is absolutely amazing; he made us feel at home, and had the perfect selection options for food and drinks. They have live music that is truly lively. This place is simply amazing. I highly recommend it, and will be back every chance I get!

Yelp
Fairly new spot across from Doral Yards. Nice decor spacious with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Christian Torres, the General Manager took his time to explain the menu and was very welcoming. Food and drinks were great. He recommended the Molcajete which was shareable and very tasty with steak, veggies and grilled cactus. A must try!

Yelp
So this is what the server politely told us about the Restaurant, it specializes in seafood and coastal mexican cuisine; the decoration gives you a beachy vive and it is nice, breezy and spacious, although the name Barra vieja doesn't match the atmosphere, it does have a big bar at the entrance you notice right away. Our waiter was nice and attentive, the beer was cold, we ordered a Guacamole and Chips to start, it was good...but then the entrees... i ordered for my daughter the Chicken tacos, they came early and were not as pictured as the Kids Menu, it was only 2 plain tortillas with chicken on top and a piece of lemon...i was puzzled and went over the menu again to see if my thoughts my be wrong, yes..maybe the got confused and got the regular tacos...the kids tacos come with cream and queso on top. We has the Enchiladas Verdes, i have to say the food is good but fails to deliver so much more, they were only two tiny enchiladas and being a Miami foodie i am accustomed to having at least a little garnish on the side, a little rice and refried beans never hurtes anyone, even though it is only for presentation. This is not a cheap nor a very expensive restaurant, but at the time of comparing apples to apples, this place fails to satisfy the needs. Although food i feel this is a one time thing restaurant.

Yelp
Very good service and the surroundings are super nice!! I ate some nachos, the guac is fire, and the fideo seco con pulpo is super good with a little hint of spicy.

Yelp
Enjoyed this place on a Saturday night out with wife. Grabbed two Chef Margaritas which were excellent and enjoyed the guac/chips. Had Elote, Pulpo and rib eye tacos and was sufficiently satisfied with portion size and taste. Cool ambiance as well with good music playing in background. Manager stopped by to visit table as well which is always a nice touch.

Yelp
The place is very well decorated and worth the check out. Ordered a few margaritas and they were on point. Waiter was very friendly and helpful when it came to recommendations. The food itself was great only down was it was a bit cold, especially anything that was fried. Overall would recommended and will go back myself!

Gregory M.

Yelp
It's a really high quality Mexican restaurant but ridiculously expensive. The happy hour is pretty good but is from 4-6pm Monday through Friday. Not sure it will survive with the competition in downtown Doral unless it extends its happy hour to 7pm and adjusts its prices.

Yelp
Wow, Wow, and double Wow. We went there last night for the opening. You would never know that the restaurant just opened. To begin, the interior is beautiful and the little nature reserve in the center was perfect for the room. We were greeted by Gerardo (sp?) who came by frequently during our meal. The margaritas were great. We had a tostada with tuna that was fresh, flavorful, and a bit spicy and the excellent guacamole. I had the pulpo tacos which were terrific. I also ordered the fish tacos which were good but I ordered too much food and took most of it home. I also had what may have been the best elote I've ever eaten. My wife had the suckling pig plate and loved it. We shared the elote tres leches which was a great closer. The service was excellent and both the owner and the manager came by our table to check on how we were doing. We live within walking distance and will be walking there often.
