"Barracuda, Uptown’s neighborhood taco stand and margarita garden, expanded to Algier’s Point right by Confetti Park in 2021. Known for handmade Sonoran-style flour and fresh-pressed corn tortillas, Barracuda offers classic tacos like carne asada and chicken adobo, but is also has vegetarian and vegan options. Sides of the smoky roasted salsa roja and queso with chips are a must." - Beth D'Addono

Suggested stop for lunch. They didn’t disappoint. Service with a smile and quick. Lots to choose from and easy order. All outdoor seating so with the heatwave it made it a little uncomfortable. They could use more patio fans. There is a water station for you also. The fish taco is delicious. Enjoyed it so much I had to go back the next day for more. Mondays they offer a $10 special on 2 tacos (beef/fish) w/side order of rice and beans.

My personal rule is never order from a place that serves their tacos on flour tortillas instead of corn. Luckily for me I didn't realize until it was too late. I had a fish taco, a mushroom taco, chips and guac. Everything was flavorful and fresh. My order was given to the wrong table so I had to ask a couple times about my food until they realized what happened about 45 minutes later - long after the rest of my party had finished their food and almost every table had cleared out. It was fine, and I didn't complain, but they gave me my order for free - which was super nice of them. The patio seating was comfortable and the neighborhood is really cute.

Awesome fresh food! Lovely margaritas! Chill garden! I had the fish tacos which were 10/10 and shared some other bits which were all tastey and nicely cooked (not too oily!) cute garden with lovely seats and cool breezes from the fans! Shaded sections as well!

We stopped here when we visited Algiers Point. The food was very tasty. The ventilators spraying cool water was a nice touch as you need to sit outside and the sun umbrellas might not be adequate in high summer. Service was quick and friendly.

Google
This taco stand has delicious food and is dog friendly! The prices are decent, I got 2 tacos, chips and queso, and a beer. I was expecting food truck prices but it only totaled up to $19! Plus there was a free water station with bowls for the dogs. Definitely worth a visit after visiting the nearby Gretna Dog park

A friend and I went about almost 1pm today and everything was great. The area was clean, the wait to order and get the food wasn’t long, the prices were good, the girls who work there were really friendly. I had a steak and a chicken taco, chips and queso, and a mangonada freezie for $20. Everything was DELICIOUS! This will be my new spot!

Google
Tacos were so delicious!!! Pork taco earned this place 5 stars on its own, the food atmosphere and service were all amazing! Would definitely come back and recommend!

Google
Nice little place with good quality food, friendly service, and fair pricing and portions. We stopped in after riding bikes for several miles and were very happy with the overall experience. Bought tacos, a quesadilla, and the chips with all dips. The guac was obviously made fresh and was very good. All items were very good. And we ran into the WDSU anchor woman coincidentally too! Would certainly come back to try some of the other menu items.

Asia H.

Yelp
The best taco stand in the city. The steak chicken and fish are must haves. Margaritas are pretty good

Erica R.

Yelp
I love this little taco haven! On a recent visit to the area, I stopped in with a couple of colleagues. Parking was easy to find and we found a table with no problem. We walked up to the counter where we ordered our food. While the menu isn't huge, it definitely has a nice variety. Because it was the workday I couldn't try their margs but I did get a hibiscus tea that was delicious. For my entree I went with the chicken bowl. Imagine the size of a chipotle bowl but packed with much more flavor! It was very filling and didn't break the bank. I cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
I hate driving to the West Bank (because I don't enjoy driving) but I will drive to Alaska for these fish tacos. And the Algiers Point locations line is always shorter than uptown.

Daniel S.

Yelp
Hmm. Line moves fast, you get your food fast. I got the deluxe chicken and Beef tacos. Tasty. The chips were interesting. The queso was good. I don't think our server wanted to be at work. (Understandable.... ). I think I need to give it another go. The margs were great. Cute little outside spot.

Annie D.

Yelp
This place was amazing!! So cute and such a great spot for an outside meal. I got the queso, absolutely delicious, and the steak tacos. The steak tacos, no onions, were probably the best steak tacos l've ever had and I still dream about them! I went to Barracuda because the tour guide on my St. Louis Cemetery tour recommended taking the ferry over here and trying this place. So glad I listened and can't wait to go back!

Michele K.

Yelp
My husband and I stop by here and ordered three tacos. One chicken, two fish, a spiced daiquiri and guacamole and chips. We were pleasantly surprised at the freshness of the tacos. The fish was crispy and tasty. The daiquiri was refreshing and the little bit of heat gave it nice flavor. The chips also had a great salty flavor and paired well with the .

Yelp
A great and quick taco stand with delicious food and a cute outside eating area! This is a nice place to get a bite to eat on this side of the river.

Lisa H.

Yelp
Great taco stand in an old gas station! Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, both the mushroom and broccoli tacos are superb. The seasonal margaritas are always delicious and the guacamole is always fresh and served with homemade chips. Love taking the very ferry over from downtown on a nice day and sitting outside in this cute neighborhood eating delicious, fresh tacos!

My Dao N.

Yelp
Recommend? Yes. This is not a vegan establishment. I had their guacamole and vegan mushroom tacos. The guacamole was... different. I think there was like pomegranate on top of it if I remember correctly. The mushroom tacos was really good, but boy was it spicy. The menu said it is and I don't know why I doubted how spicy it was going to be. Nice flavor and char on the mushrooms. Overall a pretty good taco. It's pricy but I also think it's twice the size of a street taco.

Yelp
When I found out Algiers Point was getting a Barracuda location, I was ecstatic!!! We need more great restaurants like this on the Westbank, especially in Algiers, so this is a huge win. Barracuda has some of the best tacos in New Orleans. They're so flavorful, and you can't beat the quaint taco stand vibe. It's a great place to meet up with friends and devour countless yummy tacos, quesadillas, orders of chips & queso, and margs. It's not a huge place, and it can get pretty crowded, but I'm so happy to see this new location doing well. Love Barracu

Yelp
Really this is a hidden gem, Food was delicious, prices, service and atmosphere was perfect, love this place.....

Sarah K.

Yelp
Yooooo what the hell is this?? I ordered my niece 2 chicken and cheese tacos and this is what we got. Take some pride in your work, kids. I think these two tacos cost $10. WTF

Susan B.

Yelp
The food was delicious. The service was so efficient and fast. And I love the fact this it has outside seating! Such a cute hidden gem!

Jordan V.

Yelp
Oh, Barracuda. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I was always a fan of Barracuda, but their location in Algiers point is simply perfect. The large patio setup in this quiet neighborhood nook is prime for enjoying a nice day with a delicious taco and a pitcher of margarita (or two). It's a little different than the Tchoup location as your entire experience is outdoor. You order from a window instead of inside (which I think is better for line flow) and they give you number and you can choose your preferred spot on their lovely garden like patio. They have an assortment of bistro style tables and benches to choose from depending on your preference or party size. Most seating options have an umbrella or are situated under a large tent so even on warm days it's not miserable. They also have fans with misters which is awesome, though I wish they were more strategically placed so that you could actually feel the mist, but still a big help. There's also usually some cool music playing which only adds to the chill ambiance. The restrooms are gender neutral and have A/C in them. I typically always get a crispy fish and a pork taco, but on my most recent visit I opted for a chicken deluxe and a broccoli taco. Listen--I'm not usually one to go up for vegan dishes, but everything about that broccoli taco just works. I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would; even the blue corn tortilla tasted better than any other I've had. I also made my chicken taco deluxe (grilled cheese, beans, and guac) for the first time on this visit and it was banging. That taco was so heavy, I could barely finish it all. For sure worth it if you're looking for more of a meal than a light snack. I especially love the drinks at Barracuda. They have one of my favorite margaritas in the city. I love how they incorporate local, fresh, seasonal fruit into their blends. The blood orange and watermelon are my favorites that I've tried. Not too sweet, refreshing, and just boozy enough. Also their mangonada is absolutely perfect for a hot day. I could wax poetic about this spot all day, but I'll wrap it up here. Wonderful addition to the Westbank scene for sure.

Yelp
Great little taco stand with outdoor seating, to go orders, and restrooms. The food was deliciously fresh. Nice ambience...sidewalk cafe-hipster vibe today. We ordered fish bowl and steak bowl and shared. They were nice sized. We ordered tortillas to make tacos. Fish was fried to perfection and steak was seasoned, cubed and tasty. We also had chips, queso, and chorizo as an appetizer. I didn't snap the queso, but it was garnished with pepitas and pomegranate seeds. Nice tough! Great flavors.

Jack B.

Yelp
This is such a great little spot and totally worth the ferry ride from NOLA. It's located in a cute little neighborhood which is lovely to walk around. The stand has plenty of tables with umbrellas so we weren't too hot at lunch time. We ordered a pork, fish and broccoli tacos, chips and guac and a mangonado. The flavors were spot-on and everything so fresh. The guac was topped with pumpkin seeds and pomegranate, which was a nice touch. The mangonado was probably my favorite part and so amazing cold and refreshing on a hot day. I highly recommend the quick, breezy ferry ride for a sightseeing opportunity followed up by a meal here. You can't go wrong.

Yelp
I'm from Houston so this may not be a fair review. Service was great. The tacos were ok to good. i feel they are expensive for the amount of food you get. they would not be on my list of places to recommend.

Gayle P.

Yelp
Food was very good, but they have to figure out a solution to the flies. Without the table fans, it would have been unbearable. I'd imagine it will get worse this summer.

Yelp
This place is basically the reason we went to Algiers. That and my husband wanted to take the ferry. Multiple people on Reddit suggested it, and I love tacos! We ordered 2 margaritas, a chicken beef, and mushroom taco, and all were amazing. As well as chips and queso. The c green creamy salsa was super delicious and probably my ffapvirte part, and everything tastes so fresh. When you order the drinks are ready almost instantly but they give you a number for your table and they come find you and bring you the food which is a nice and efficient system. They were super fast. It's basically all outdoor sitting. Just under a tent or under the stars. We opted for under the stars since it was so lovely out. It was a great experience.

Don G.

Yelp
Generic. Ambiance is ONLY justification for rating more than 3 stars. No tongue; no corn; beans weak; queso is nacho cheese I had at last saints game. On a positive note, the margarita pitcher was strong enough to dull my gustatory senses and make the bike ride home semi-tolerable. I wonder if Tchoupitoulas is the same. Not worth finding out. BTW. The park across the street is great!

Daniel B.

Yelp
Enjoy this place, the seating is only outdoors, I love the fish tacos with a pitcher of margaritas!

Nina N.

Yelp
4/5! Definitely would come back for the vibes! Everyone's kind of doing their own thing and in their own world. Good amount of seating, lots of dogs. Loved how they had a water pitcher for you to get your own water. Hand sanitizer and mosquito spray is available too since it's all outdoor seating. The food was good, but it didn't wow me. Very affordable and fun to come with friends and grab a drink and a bite. You order first, pay, sit then they bring the food out to you. If you wanna walk off some of the calories later, there's a nice path to walk near the ferry with the view of the MS River and the French quarter Neighborhood has an uptown vibe to it and is fairly safe to walk around.

Jay S.

Yelp
The service was quick and the tacos were great. I tried the pork and chicken and now I'm seriously considering ordering the beef.

Loriyon J.

Yelp
This was probably my 25th time here in the last year which should explain my five star rating. Barracuda is my favorite taco spot in New Orleans and it hits EVERY TIME. I've tried every taco on the menu, the queso, salsa and margaritas are amazing. I love the atmosphere of the location in Algiers! They have great music and plenty of seating and the service is always really nice. They go above and beyond for their customers for sure. If you're visiting New Orleans it's a must try and if you live in the city and haven't gone to barracuda yet SHAME ON YOU! haha I promise you'll be hooked. Thank me later

Yelp
So Im a local Algerian. Anything Algiers I am automatically crazy about. Seeing my old stomping grounds coming back to life, better than ever. This taco stand occupies a looonnnggg since abandoned gas station and they did a smashing job bringing it to life as a new provider! If left to my own devices, I will eat here 3-4 times a week. Im slowing chopping down the menu and I haven't run into a bum choice yet. Happy hours has some great drink prices and food specials. The seating is outdoors but remains intimate. Kid and pet friendly. Servers behind the window and that come out to bring your food are spot are awesome friendly. Food comes out pretty fast too. When the weather is awesome, as I am writing this, is perfect evening dining. There is fans for the summer and propane heaters for the chilly nights. There is a playground directly across the street and plenty of on street parking. Man, I kinda want to eat there again tonight. Oh yea, if you are familiar with the uptown location and don't feel like waiting in a line, this is the one to visit!

John K.

Yelp
What a great neighborhood joint. Tacos are fantastic. As good as any you can get in SoCal. Loaded with flavor.

Alexandra E.

Yelp
Obsessed!!! Barracuda is now one of my favorite taco and margarita spots in town. I went a couple of years ago and didn't love it but came back and gave it another chance. So glad I did! Their spicy watermelon margarita is out of this world. Their pork and fried fish tacos are so flavorful. The green hot sauce they come with is fire. This Algiers Point location is so cute. Their staff is super friendly which is really important to me when I go somewhere. 10/10!

Mindi L.

Yelp
Delicious food. Great ambiance. Best margaritas!! And super nice staff. They accommodated my request of no cilantro or onions!! And for that, I'm grateful.

Laurie A.

Yelp
Excellent food, awesome staff! Reasonable price with a unique and pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend the Barracuda Taco Stand!!

Jody T.

Yelp
This place is a local favorite and our AIRBNB was in the neighborhood, so we stopped by. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. Lots of locals about with dogs and kids. The food was incredible. I really liked the fish taco and mushroom taco. Highly recommend you try this place if you are in the Algiers Point neighborhood, which is a ferry ride away from Jackson Square, so worth the walk!!

Awilda C.

Yelp
Great food and drinks! Nice, chill vibe. Margaritas were amazing!! Tacos were delicious

Maia S.

Yelp
Always yummy and the ambiance is nice too. The happy hour is the best so if you can wait for happy hour! The mini tacos are fire!

Olivia P.

Yelp
OMG! These tacos had me licking my fingers! I am a vegetarian so I cannot speak to the meaty things here, but the broccoli taco is the best! That little masterpiece is $3.95 and it comes with charred broccoli, sunflower Caesar, salsa seca, caramelized onion & cilantro. I ordered it with no Caesar, no cilantro, and the salsa on the side. (what can I say, I'm a picky eater..) I also made it "Deluxe" which means + grilled cheese, +beans, and + guac. Also got a side of rice and a side of beans. Do yourself a favor and squeeze that lime that comes with the taco right on top. The citrus sets it off! I ate EVERYTHING! I raved about it for the rest of the day then came back the next day to get the same meal again. I heard about this place from a local who lives in the neighborhood. Turns out, she gave me the best advice I've received since arriving in NOLA! If you get a chance to go here, GO! Also, they have margaritas and other bevs if you want a drink!

Becca D.

Yelp
Who would've thought this adorable taco stand was nestled on Algiers Point?? We took the ferry over for the afternoon to stroll around a different area of Nola and I just pulled up Google maps to find a bathroom. Had no idea it was this awesome taco stand! My friends had already eaten but I hadn't so I got a few tacos, a margarita, and some chips to share. Everything was delicious and this was seriously one of the best surprise finds! Looks like a little gas station turned taco stand, order at the counter and then just chill at the picnic tables outside!

Heather W.

Yelp
Super good tacos with great Salsa Macha for 3.95. Not bad for the size! They also have free water. It's completely outdoors and they'll set up a tent when it's raining.

Jeremy S.

Yelp
This is a ransom review of sorts. Make the steak alambres taco permanent or this review gets updated to one star. The ball is in your court Barracuda. Seriously though, I love the current specialty taco.

Tyra Sanders ..

Yelp
Amazing food and a cozy eating space with heaters and fans. The tacos are phenomenal; I usually get 3. Great options for people who don't eat pork. But the pork is great too (so I've been told).

Leslie P.

Yelp
Everything we had from here was awesome! As visitors from California we're critical of our tacos. This place was delicious! We had beef, chicken, broccoli and fish and they were so good! We also had the "all the dips and chips" and again it was so good! Totally would eat here regularly if we lived here and if we come back we will definitely look for it!

Harold H.

Yelp
Taco are really good but only the hot ones service is really good to Place very clean

John B.

Yelp
amazing tacos. great service, and also, just a very nice atmosphere. Chicken tacos were sublime, very flavorful with a little kick.

Sergio C.

Yelp
Visited Barracuda Taco for lunch while working in the area. Had two beef steak tacos with chips and salsa. It was so good went back the next day and had a chicken taco with rice and beans plus chips and salsa. Staff was friendly and the food was great. Outside eating.

Tran N.

Yelp
The best tacos ,good drink ,outdoor seat is very cute ,nice place to chill with friends.

Yelp
Its been a long time coming. Located in an old 76 station, Barracuda has planted roots on Algiers point. Come to me Baby. All the usuals served up in a darling little outdoor dining area. Cleverly designed this surely will become a destination when visiting Algiers Point. Ride the ferry over and order up a margarita. Today i ordered the pollo bowl, a mexican coke and a margarita....Bill had tacos, but gobbled them up real quick(hence no photo) simply deliciousness was had... I feel a healthy habit starting. Welcome Barracuda!

Peyton C.

Yelp
A friend that frequents Barracuda took me here, and I'm so glad he did! The queso was unique with the pepitos and pomegranate seeds, and the chips were fresh and crunchy! I had the fish taco and the chicken taco, and both were bursting with flavor and had a great tenderness! I've been back several times since, so it's safe to say that this is a great New Orleans taco spot!

Charlé W.

Yelp
I can't name a place in recent memory where I have seen happier employees. It means a lot to patronize a place where the staff genuinely seems to be enjoying themselves. We could taste their joy in the fish tacos. Which tasted exactly like they do at the Tchopitoulas location, perfect. The salsas that accompanied them are fresh and succulent and the chips were crunchy. My friend got a Japanese import beer that he thoroughly enjoyed with his meal. I ordered a spicy margarita that had the perfect ratio of everything. The seating is outdoor only and so pretty, blending in seamlessly with pictureseque Algiers Point. We found a spot near the fans and stayed until the mosquitoes found us. My only recommendation is that they provide bug repellant. Gotta mention the clean , well lit, and spacious restrooms!

Gretchen B.

Yelp
Looking for a hidden gem next to a park? Then look for this taco stand. A kind woman, who lives in Algiers and rode the ferry with a group of Nebraska teachers, suggested we check this place out. We were thankful. Mushroom tacos! That's it. I have found my favorite thing to eat when visiting New Orleans (ok Algiers). Everyone in our group liked what they ordered and were willing to share so we could all experience the food. Check out the happy hour options as well you will not be disappointed.

Jolene G.

Yelp
These tacos are everything. My favorites are the crispy fish (fish bowl pictured here) and the steak! The flavors are powerful and the margaritas are perfect! I didn't snap a photo of the queso and chips I had, but this queso is rich and seasoned well. The best I've had ever. Happy hour is always a treat as well.

Rendell J.

Yelp
Definitely the best location and food EVER! After eating take a quick walk to the levee and watch the sites!

Alex P.

Yelp
They have 2 really delicious veggie tacos. Their mushroom one and the broccoli one. Holy crap!! The mushroom one is smoky and savory. Every time I eat, I keep checking that it is, in fact, just mushrooms--no meat, bc it's deceiving. And when I first ordered the broccoli taco, I thought it was strange, but interesting, so I'd give it a go. And who knew?! It's actually my favorite! The flavors and the crunch of the seeds for texture is so surprising and tasty. My go-to now is 1 mushroom, 2 broccoli. And, of course, a couple margaritas to round out the meal. So good. And the Algiers location, right across from a playground, is so quaint and peaceful nestled among all the homes and trees. I love it. I especially love when people bring their dogs. It just feels so homey and comforting. This is making me crave it. Looks like I'll be going tonight or tomorrow. It has to happen.
