Barracuda is a colorful dive bar in Coconut Grove where nautical vibes meet picnic benches, serving laid-back seafood eats and a solid beer selection.
"Barracuda is the old hippy heart of the Grove—a nautical bar with beer pong, a pool table, and pink benches set in the middle of Fuller Street. It’s a great place to grab a beer with friends after dinner or day drink on a Saturday. They also serve food—like what they call “the best snapper sandwich you’ve ever had.” It’s not the best snapper sandwich we’ve ever had, but it’s delicious, and we order ours blackened with everything on it. Cuda is just one of those places where you’re guaranteed to run into old friends or make temporary new ones out of strangers. " - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"If you’re well past your beer pong days, Barracuda should be avoided late on Thursday nights when it’s flooded with UM students. But walk by these pink picnic tables on a sunny weekend, and you’ll probably run into acquaintances you sort of knew from high school. Are these new friends? No, so we’re kind of cheating here. But these folks are all grown up, have children with manners (surprisingly), and are here because they too are hoping to run into someone they sort-of-kind-of know. So you should say hi even though the last time you saw them was at Belen's Tombola. But even if you’re new in town or don’t see anyone you recognize, have a seat and order conch fritters and a beer. Someone will inevitably sit across from you and ask to share the table—Barracuda is just that kind of place." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino
"Sure, Barracuda might have changed ownership and stepped it up a few levels — but once a dive bar, always a dive bar, and it certainly hasn't lost its charm. The bar is still equipped with beer pong tables and cheap suds, like any good dive bar, should be." - Olee Fowler
"This Coconut Grove bar on Fuller Street has more to offer than the 52 beers on tap. It’s a local’s spot where you can play beer pong, partake in trivia nights, or just run into old friends and say sentences that only make sense to Grove people, like, “Does Jamaican Paul still come around here?” Plus, they serve the best snapper sandwich you’ve ever had—that’s the name of the sandwich, not our assessment. It’s not the best snapper sandwich, but it’s pretty good. We order ours blackened with everything on it—fresh tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and red onions on housemade garlic bread. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC" - Virginia Otazo
