A family‑run institution known for cocido, handmade sopas, and generous combo plates. Noted by the Los Angeles Times as the family’s last remaining location, it still draws regulars for classic Mexican‑American fare and margaritas.

Ivan took excellent care of us. Very attentive. Very accommodating. Very friendly. It was very busy and he still took care of everyone in the bar area. He is a valuable worker. Food is always good. Taco Monday is always fun!!

Google
Delicious Mexican food is served at Barragan's! I really enjoyed my enchiladas, beans and rice meal. Guacamole and chips were quite tasty. Lunch special is fairly budget-friendly. Nice ambiance. The mole is amazing!!A beautiful ( and quite large) outdoor patio makes for a pleasant dining experience. Definitely recommend.

Google
Great spot for large portions of food, fun for families or casual eating with friends. Easy seating options indoor or on their patio. They have live music. Plenty of parking spots. Staff are friendly and quick should you need anything at the table. Recommend giving them a try!

It's been awhile since I visited. It was a pleasure to visit for this occasion. My friend's 21st birthday celebration 🎉 Wasn't aware we can book a private area. Food still delicious and the service was phenomenal. Can't wait to come back to have my favorite dish 😋

Google
One of the legacy Mexican restaurants in Burbank. Excellent food, great service. A bit out there but worth a visit if you are in Burbank. Also live music in the evenings.

I been here a while back it was better before now. May24 2025 .It is terrible food. They chargingn8.75 for each cheese enchilada i got 2. The sauce is not fresh and the guacmole didnt seem fresh and I got a marguerita it was weak n taste not good. The beans were good and the water was good. MY friend order burrito not wet and they put sauce on anyways. And for this little meal. We were charged 70. Gtfo that was not worth the money. They r not even friendly to welcome you when you arrive. And waiter disappeared often and impossible to find. They didnt even give us fork we wait like 10 minutes or.more to find someone to bring a fork. Terrible overall.I want a refund but I hope you find other places to eat this is not a good one. Sorry the sauce was watery on the burrito had watery green sauce soggy burrito and the enchildas also watery.Theres no wait for tables because its dead in the place and no good.music. NEVER GOING BACK THERE.

Had an amazing experience! The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was warm and family-friendly. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was fresh and full of flavor. The location is easy to find, and everything was spotless, from the dining area to the restrooms. A special shoutout to our server, Ivan, who was attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and excellent service!

Yelp
Barragans has an extensive menu to please mostly everyone. A fast and effective crew to take care of everyone inside. Prices can be considered to be moderate to high. Most plates are around $19-$30. For starters chips and salsa are brought out. Caldos are hot and packed with flavor. The albondigas soup was very generous with the number of meatballs. It was served with beans and rice and tortillas. The chicken enchillada were also good. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking.

Yelp
It was nice to bring back childhood memories when I use to visit the echo park location with my family. Barragans in Burbank was just as tasty and wonderful to visit. We sat outdoor by the fountain enjoyed margaritas and the tasty chips and salsa, we shared a small albondigas between my date and I and I had the ropa vieja (shredded beef with onions and bell peppers)which was very good . I would definitely visit again next time i am in the area and I would for sure probably visit where I am from . Margaritas were tasty and stiff I was definitely buzzing and having fun. We had had and lunch was very good

Yelp
I wish I remembered the name of our waiter. He was fun, kind and entertaining. We sat outside and it was cold for a Monday mid afternoon. Music was playing and my little niece started dancing. The crew was cheering her on, it was the cutest. Thanks to everyone who made her day. Food wws great, taco Monday was good. We also ordered from bar/happy hour menu. Regular entrees seem to be pricey. Margaritas also great!

Yelp
We went on a Friday night around 7 pm. It wasn't too busy considering it was a Friday during a holiday weekend. The check in is right by the parking lot (a little different than it used to be when it was by the front door). We were given the option to sit inside or outside (which is also new since the pandemic). We chose inside and were seated right away. Service was great. Our server was prompt and helpful. Food was okay. Not great, not bad. It was standard Mexican fare. The steak picado was well flavored and cooked well. A little dry but nothing some beans and salsa wouldn't take care of. The vegetarian burrito was piping hot when it came out. I'm glad I got it with the green sauce as it would have been somewhat dry w/out it. The servings are enough so you'll have leftovers to bring. Definitely returning as we are confident in the service that we'll get and that we won't be too disappointed in the food. As a note, the parking is in the back if you are ever wondering where to park (the building pops up on you if you're not looking out for it).

Yelp
Staff is super polite and service is great. But it's basically Mexican food for Anglo-Americans. We were able to get a large table for eight friends. Our friends were very happy with the food. We could stay long after eating and visit there was no rush to leave (Sunday night). I prefer authentic Mexican food.

Yelp
Narragansett patio is Awesome. Hugo is the best! We loved the Mole aND pork carnival in Chipotle!:

Yelp
The food is good. The service is amazing! Such cute and great atmosphere on the patio.

Yelp
Barragan's is old-school Mexican. It's been remodeled over the years but certain sections still have that old charm. I got Enchiladas Suizas and they were solid. It's my go-to dish and they did it well here! Chips and salsa are also a winner. Employees are all super friendly and we felt very comfortable here. I'd definitely head back!

Yelp
Our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Their lunch specials are a total bonus! Highly recommend this restaurant !

Yelp
Today I went for my friend's birthday dinner at Barragan's in Burbank; it was my first time. It was a lovely evening outside on the patio. I had a grilled fish with veggies and black beans and a couple of slices of avocado. It was good and healthy, but I just found the sway filet was quite small!

Yelp

Yelp
What a gem! I have lived in Burbank for almost 2 years now and can't believe I hadn't tried this place until this weekend. From the customer service to the food itself everything was a definite 5 stars! From the moment you walk in you are made to feel like family and everyone is so attentive and friendly. They have Happy Hour on weekdays from 3-6 ($8 Margaritas! YEA!) and they have quite an extensive food menu. Everything looked so good. The portions are absolutely huge and the dinners include soup or salad at no extra charge. I was so happy to see that they had dishes with Noplaes (Cactus) because it doesn't seem too many Mexican restaurants in LA County have that on their menus. I got the Noplaes con Huevos and it was amazing! My mom loved her Chicken Mole and my Dad (who is usually very hard to please when it comes to Mexican food) loved his Ropa Vieja. We definitely took the leftovers home! Our waiter Ramiro was absolutely phenomenal and their patio is lovely on a nice Summer evening. We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Good food, but have my few same items I order since the 80's . Service always excellent. Old school clean Mexican cuisine experience
google avatar

Bridget G.

Yelp
I've been here twice, once for their Taco Monday and another time on a regular evening. On Monday nights, crunchy tacos (ground beef, chicken or potato) are $1.75, and $2 if you want them with guac. They're pretty good, and a good size for the price! I was full with 2. I love old school Mexican restaurants that have been around for decades and this one has its charm... it's spacious and cavernous on the inside with lots of separate rooms, and has a beautiful patio. I liked my cadillac margarita. However, the prices are a little absurd. All of the salads are over $20 (for salads!), and most of the entrees are upwards of $25 - $30. The salsa was thin and too watery. We had the same server on both visits... she mentioned that she had been working there for a VERY long time, but I can't remember the last time I'd had such an unfriendly, dismissive server. She seemed to be annoyed during our whole visit and I don't think she smiled once. I'd recommend Tequila's, Don Cuco, Ernie's, or Los Amigos instead! More reasonable prices and more welcoming, friendlier vibes!

Yelp
Food was average and not that tasty, alcoholic beverages on the other hand were good though
google avatar

Bruce H.

Yelp
I'm disappointed in my last experience at Barragans. This place has never been awsome or special, just convenient and average. I've been going to Barragans (Glendale and Burbank) for 30 plus years. This last Visit sealed the deal for my last time. For starters, everything on the menu is way excessive on price. 2 item combo is $21. If you go to Taquilas down on Magnolia, you can get a 3 item combo for $21. We ordered the steak fajitas but they were too salty so we wound up returning them and ordered basic taquitos. And on top of everything else, the place was packed! I'm thinking Burbankians are getting charged too much for their Mexican food. Go up to Montrose where your average 2 item combo is still in the mid-teens.

Yelp
I used to love coming to this place, but every time I come in, I always end up sitting in the back. I don't know why. I would have liked to see another part of the restaurant, but the server was terribly late. I even had to beg him to bring my glass of water, which took forever. I had to beg him to come over and check on the service. Never again. Stop being racist against Afro Latinos. My server was the older gentleman who puts his hair slick back in a ponytail, with glasses. 12/08/24

Yelp
Margarita Mondays was delicious. Tacos for 1.75 were packed with meat and toppings. Not cheating you on discounted days. I had a mango margaritas which had just enough liquor to taste but remained fruity. Completely sold and headed back with the girls for drinks n dinner

Yelp
Visited barragans for my 18 year olds bday! It's her fav, so of course I'm gonna make my baby happy. Last time we had this spot was about 6 months or so ago. Anyhow getting to the review, I used to love this place, our favorite was the taquitos, Spanish rice and beans! However, ever since Covid they have changed for the worse. I'm not sure what's changed maybe the cook or the recipes. The rice tastes like the ones from Vallarta & the beans are just okay. Everything just seems healthier & when I want Mexican food I don't want heathy lol. The taquitos are still decent, but the flan is now half its size with a bunch of unnecessary sugar in the form of whipped cream and chocolate drizzle which doesn't allow for the flan taste. Lastly, there were 3 of us and we only two ordered full meals with drinks and dessert and the bills was way more than when we get 3 meals etc. So I'm assuming prices have jumped some 20-30% which is crazy. They want customers, but also want to lose long time customers by increasing prices by a lot in such short periods of time! The same meal I used to order years ago was $16 now it's a while $10 more, for lesser quality! Not good & that's the disappointing part as I used to live this spot along with its Glendale location that sadly closed. Only things on the menu that's cheap is the tacos on taco Tuesday and not all of us like tacos! Anyways to the positive, the waiters are always excellent, polite, and very attentive! 5 stars that's why I tip them so well. Not sure if we will be going back, I'm kinda over the downhill food.

Yelp
We had a lovely lunch, I had the tostada. It was delicious and very big. Service was excellent and the wait staff supported each other.
google avatar

Carolina G.

Yelp
Really sad to be writing this but I received my first food poisoning from eating here. Maybe it was bad luck. We ordered enchiladas and a wet burrito. The server Hugo was great. We sat in the patio which was nice and hosting a larger party so the patio allows for group parties. Unfortunately the food was not my favorite, I ate 1 of 2 enchiladas and barely any of the beans but at least I had options since all beans are vegetarian. I am just recovering now after 3 absolutely frightening days of vomiting and more. I hope no one else that went on 5/26 suffered aside from us.
google avatar

Foodie L.

Yelp
I'm sorry but their food is just not good. I ordered enchiladas and it was terrible. Stale tortillas with terrible meat, very little sauce. I'm not Mexican and I make better Mexican food at home. Also, there was a lady there that used to steal money off of peoples credit cards. I hope she got fired. Their Glendale location was so much better. It's too bad since they used to have 3 locations and they were around for a very long time.

Yelp
As far as Mexican food goes, this is not my first choice, second or third. I have no idea why this place is always crowded. The food is not very good and the margaritas are from a mix. *Beware: do not have more then 1 margarita on the rocks. The sugar from the mix will make you sick. We were celebrating a friends bday so that made it fun. The parking lot gets full quickly but if you have patience, you may catch a patron leaving. Otherwise parking can be challenging. Me, I would pass on returning any time soon.

Bella B.

Yelp
Food is okay, big portions but not a lot of flavor. Service is good and the ambiance inside is nice. I've never sat outside but seems more of a party out there.

M A.

Yelp
Tasty Cocido. Great service. Hard rice for me. The most expensive Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at in my life. Someone joked that it is like paying royalty prices for Mexican food. It has been a long time since I last ate here. Wish my soup came with potatoes. Loved the beans but a side of it cost over $4.50 so I did not buy any to take home to eat with my left over.
google avatar

Roger G.

Yelp
Wow! Second time I've tried this place and it's still underwhelming. The food is just bland and doesn't reflect the deep and vibrant flavors of Mexican cuisine. When I have to ask for some salsa with some more flavor and heat, I know I am not going to be pleased with the rest of my order. The grilled chicken salad was an enormous amount of tasteless rubber chicken, the previous time I ordered a combination plate that was also tasteless and came with tacos with shredded cheese, nope not from any region in Mexico I am familiar with! The service was friendly, but slow. The Margaritas were fine, nothing special, the outdoor dining was comfortable. I see why they received a low rating

Yelp
We came to Barragan's to celebrate a wonderful evening including a birthday, and a wonderful evening it continued to be! Pablo was a very attentive server and he kept checking with us to make sure we had the best experience. We normally enjoy Taco Mondays and margarita Wednesdays here. Barragans has inside and outdoor seating and is always a fun time.

Rita C.

Yelp
Loved having a delicious meal with my family, including my 4 legged son in the patio area. Great Vibe!
google avatar

Yelp
Always damn good!! This guero loves the lengua in Spanish sauce. Such incredible flavors! I've been coming to Barragans for 30 years - first rather Echo Park location and now here in Burbank. Love the food and the family is so awesome!!
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
I ordered camarones al mojo de ajo and let me tell you they were delicious. My lime margarita on the rocks was really good too, not too sweet and the right amount of alcohol. I enjoyed the ambience as they have decorated really nicely for the holidays, and the waiter was very attentive. Will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Shandy G.

Yelp
For starters, there is a large private parking lot and it felt very secure which I find a LA rarity. The food was fresh and flavorful! I had a peach margarita with a tajín rim. We were seated on the back patio which was so nice and relaxing and allowed for a good visit and catch up with my company. Our server Liz was phenomenal and was very attentive and was willing to make recommendations. I look forward to visiting this establishment again on my next Burbank trip.
google avatar

Alva S.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! Patio seating was very comfortable and beautiful. Highly recommend for lunch meetings.

Yelp
Ox tongue wasn't in the menu anymore but when I asked for it , they made it .How nice. Thank you very much. You made my day.
google avatar

Josh M.

Yelp
Everything we've had here has been solid! Can't remember what all I've had. Probably due to the bomb happy hour they have. Don't judge me, I've also been there during a Sunday dinner with the whole family..hahaha. From the tacos to burritos to any thing they offer has been hot, fresh and has great taste. Service is great, attentive, fast, and Johnny on the spot when you need something. Always a yes when wife says, MEXICAN? Umm yeah! Duh!
google avatar

Yelp
I am delighted to compliment Barragan's Mexican Restaurant for having delicious, authentic Mexican food, the best margaritas in town and also for having a friendly staff! Last night, two of my friends and I were there for dinner. Margarita, our serve , provided excellent service. She is nice and sweet. After our food was served, she made sure to come over. Check in to make sure everything was OK and spent just a quick moment or two to ask about how we were doing today? Although it was cold outside the ambience inside, the restaurant was warm and festive. There was a good vibe in the restaurant everyone looked happy! Keep up the good work, Barragan's. We love your restaurant!

Dina P.

Yelp
Good food, but service was absolutely horrible! I took my mom here for her 83rd birthday today. This is my 2nd time here and my mom's first time. It was very hot and we asked to move to another table which was much cooler. After that we never saw our waiter. We were surrounded by other tables and people, and all of the waiter's asked everyone around us if they needed anything but treated us like we were invisable! Finally when we saw a waiter we ordered our food. After we received our food, we never saw our waiter until the bill came. The worst service that I have ever experienced anywhere! What a shame because the food was good.

Thania M.

Yelp
Great outdoor seating Good chips and salsa Better margaritas Perfect place for after work dining Quick & friendly staff

Yelp
Barragan's is our favorite mexican food restaurant on Burbank. Monday is Taco night but this month they have an Anniversary special oh $6.20 0ff combinations. Our plates were huge and came with soup or salad. The wait staff is like family to us. There is a large outdoor patio where there us live entertainment on some nights. Celebrating a birthday? Don't forget the fried ice cream! Also there is a new happy hour Monday through Friday. You cannot go wrong with Barragan's !

Yelp
My aunt brought me here for brunch and to talk about some family matters during the week, so I don't know how different the experience would be during the weekends or evenings. My aunt mentioned her family loves coming here and are regulars, but it was my first time, even though I attended the local high school and worked in Burbank for several years before moving away. I had always heard of this place but needed a better reason to try it out. My partner's family are also regulars, and this restaurant has a loyal local customer base. Personally, the food quality was cheap cheap cheap, but the drinks tho. The margaritas would bring me back for sure. The ingredients are low-grade, and you can tell they use a lot of packaged and canned goods, only a few fresh ingredients. I'd say using the lowest quality ingredients in this place helps keep the overall costs down. It's affordable for a restaurant in Burbank these days. The taste is also very, very far from being on the authentic side. You can tell they cater to the non-Mexican demographic, but if it works for them and they keep the population returning, I think there's no issue; know what you're getting into here. The service was also pretty good; we were happy with our server, and my family told me that they hadn't had a negative experience with the service either. We sat on the outside patio by the fountain, and it was so serene you could quickly lose track of how many margaritas you drank, and they're huge. I loved how clean the property was. I need to note this because the bathrooms were pristine, the parking lot was well-manicured and clean, and the patio was so lovely; I have no clue what the inside of the restaurant looks like, and I am not sure I would ever want to be seated inside, to be honest. The patio is so cute. I highly recommend it for the ambiance, and I found it so lovely that the waterfall drowns out the sound of traffic nearby. This place is perfect for most occasions, even a date situation. I'll be back for the drinks and a few apps.

Gloria R.

Yelp
Food is amazing! We sat in the patio area next to the fountain and it was an amazing time celebrating my husband's birthday! The service is impeccable, the ambience was beautiful! Parking is in the back and easy parking. It's our favorite Mexican food restaurant!

Yelp
Barragan's in Burbank CA , has great food and amazing margaritas . Service is very helpful and friendly
google avatar

Francesca S.

Yelp
Service was excellent staff was very attentive. Their salsa is spicy and tasty. The margaritas are good refreshing and not too strong. The food overall was ok the beef taco was ground up meat with maybe potatoes and the chicken in the chicken taco seemed dry. Although I tried some of their caldo and it was tasty.

Nancy S.

Yelp
Booked a reservation for a table of 16 for my friends Bday dinner and they were able to accommodate us into a small room inside. Rafael, Mauricio and David were our servers and did a great job attending everyone. The drinks and food all came at a good time and everyone enjoyed their meal! It was my 1st time dining here and an overall fun experience. I will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Karen X.

Yelp
You can't tell from the street, but this place has a great back patio. It was the perfect place to meet a group of friends for happy hour. My friends and I ordered an assortment of drinks and happy hour food. All was delicious and we had a great time. My only complaint is that it felt a little bit like we were being rushed out. Other than that we had a great experience.

Livi R.

Yelp
I love the Margaritas with Don Julio and Serano chilies peppers. Service is outstanding with Ramiro.

Yelp
I have been coming to Barragans practically my whole life. I used to go to the one in Echo Park after Dodgers games and used to go to the one in Glendale whenever we visited family out there. It was tradition to go almost, if not every Friday or Saturday night with family or friends to Barrgans Burbank! I knew every waiter and waitress, every busser. Most of them have been working there since I was a child. I moved away from the area and had an itch to go recently. I saw everybody I knew, and it was pleasant to speak to everybody. But I was disappointed. Prices are ridiculous! Why have they become so high? Their customer service was astonishing. Never a dull moment with everybody that works there. The place is always lovely and decorated according to the time of year. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. For prices that high, the food needs to be exceptional. Basic cheese Enchiladas with rice and beans and one drink is over 30 bucks. For a party of 2, you look at around 70 or 80 bucks, depending on what you order and what drink you get.
google avatar

Dalia G.

Yelp
Down to the final location. Still good service and food. Margaritas are delicious! Had dinner but forgot to take pictures.

Yelp
Food: I came on Taco Monday. Beware, it gets very crowded because of the Taco Monday special. All taco dorados are $1.75. I ordered three dorado tacos: one beef, one chicken, and one potato taco. The waiter asked if I wanted to add guacamole on my tacos, which I did. I also ordered a mango margarita with tajin on the rim. Man, the margarita was strong. All of the tacos were good but my favorites were the potato and beef tacos. Parking: It is nice that the restaurant has their own private parking lot but I had to park out in the street on this particular day because it was crowded and there was no parking available in their parking lot. Ambiance: it is a charming restaurant. The lights are dim inside and it is nicely decorated. It is also very big as it has three sections inside and a large patio to eat outside. Service: the hostess was very friendly. The waiter took our order shortly after we sat down but he was not very attentive after that. I kept having to look around to see if I could find him. We did not have any silverware on the table or napkins so when the food arrived, we had to ask the bus boy for them.
