Barranca Food Hall

Don't waste your time coming to this place if you are trying to get some work done. The Barranca Food Hall has covered the power outlets, making it uncomfortable for people who want to charge their devices. This place is always empty and cold. The food at this place is overpriced and aids to gentrifiers.

This is a neat little food court right next to a thrift store--perfect for grabbing a quick bite! There are about three food spots here: one serves Thai food, another offers sushi, and I can't quite remember the third. I tried the Thai food, and it was super tasty! The only downside is the limited options--if you're not into Thai or sushi, this might not be the spot for you. But if you are, it's definitely worth checking out for a quick and satisfying meal!

Barranca Food Hall is a small food court located on the 1st floor of a newly built apartment in Lincoln Heights and the St. Vincent De Paul thrift store is located directly across from the food hall. [Parking]: I had no issue with relatively easy street parking on Saturday afternoon, but apparently visitors can park at the St. Vincent De Paul thrift store parking lot and I saw a banner saying the thrift store lot is closed for the food hall parking after 9 PM. [Vendors & amenities]: Three food vendors inside of the 1st floor - BistroDK (Japanese rice bowls - https://www.yelp.com/biz/bistrodk-los-angeles), TG Thai Food (https://www.yelp.com/biz/tg-thai-food-lincoln-heights), and Soto's Cuban Kitchen (https://www.yelp.com/biz/soto-s-cuban-kitchen-los-angeles). Lastly Origin Story Cafe (changed from Synergy Cafe to Origin Story Cafe - https://www.yelp.com/biz/origin-story-los-angeles) is located across the open-air courtyard serving breakfast items. The open-air courtyard looks sleek with plenty of tables. Unfortunately no public restroom is available. Overall the food court's core customers are probably local residents who live in these contemporary apartments. I felt very safe within the food court perimeter, but right now it is hard to get super excited with only four options to choose from. This is a nice lunch/dinner side stop for anyone who happens to visit the St. Vincent De Paul thrift store in Lincoln Heights.

The area definitely leaves a lot to be desired, but the food did not disappoint. I got the oxtail stew lunch from Soto's Cuban Kitchen and it was delicious. It was pretty pricey for the portions but overall it was a decent lunch and a nice spot to hang with my coworkers. The service was quick and to the point. Not overly friendly but not memorable either. The location was very clean. It's walking distance from my job, but due to the lack of parking and the plethora of campers and transients I most likely will not frequent this place.

Great spot to stop in between downtown and Atwater Village. There's a great coffee spot called origin Story right outside of the food hall which is where I went but when my husband asked me to pick up dinner I popped over to the food hall and discovered a Cuban, Thai and Ramen (and sushi ) spot which was perfect bc we were craving different things. The pad Thai was delicious (and they had good vegetarian options) and my hubby and son loved the garlic Ramen and the Tofu Ramen. We will definitely be back. These are all small businesses, so a great spot to support local families. Shoot! Too late to take pics but trust me it's GREAT! Next time I will have to go thrifting too!
