Barranco

We've been pretty excited for our visit in Barranco. The place is cozy and the atmosphere was to my liking. I liked the attentive staff and the dishes were served in a timely manner. We ordered 7 courses, ceviche, halibut and steak I really loved and would come back for more (quite frankly, I'd eat a bucket of this ceviche if I could - lemongrass aroma was a blast), the other dishes were decent, but nothing incredible. As good as the meals were, I do not feel that the price is justified for the portion size especially if these are meant to be shared. Pisco sour was delish and fresh. What was greatly disappointing and I would not recommend pre-ordering is the birthday upgrade - the bday cake was advertised as for 2 people to share and I paid 25CHF for a piece that was barely enough for my birthday boy. In any case, I give 4 stars, because all in all we had a good time, but i'm not sure i'll be back for anything else than ceviche and halibut.

Overall the experience was good, we had a couple of criticisms on the food. The salmon was undercooked and bland and the picanha (I might spell it wrong) was a bit chewy. The rest of the dishes were very good and the desert amazing. The staff welcomed the feedback and was friendly. Overall the restaurant is a bit in the pricey side and the portions could have been bigger, but I would still recommend it.

We were looking for a place to sit outside for a nice dinner at the end of dinner. Barranco did not disappoint. They were kind enough to set up outside for us after a storm and then we tried basically everything on the menu. The food was fantastic! Also, the cocktails were awesome! I highly recommend it!

We were happy to get a spontaneous table around 9 o’clock on a Sunday and were really looking forward to trying the vegetarian 6-course chef’s menu, especially after hearing so many good things. Unfortunately, I have to say that this was one of the more disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in Zurich, especially at this price point (130 francs). The dishes lacked the creativity, depth of flavor, and attention to detail that I would have expected — it just didn’t feel like there was much love or passion in them. Even the service felt quite flat and disengaged, which added to the overall impression. Sadly, I wouldn’t go back or recommend it to friends, as I had genuinely hoped for much more.

Nothing short of fantastic. Every dish on the set menu had its own distinct, unique flavours—delicious from start to finish. The staff were genuinely kind, making the whole experience feel effortless and special. A perfect spot for a special occasion.

We really enjoyed our dinner here! We sat in the outside garden and it was really good the atmosphere. Food is quite good and very tasty. I’ve never been to Peru so I can’t comment how close to real Peruvian food it is. The portions are small, but overall the taste and creativity are there. Overall worths it.

One of my current favorites in Zurich, each dish is its own small world of tastes and textures. Gentle staff. Fairly priced for what the restaurant offers. Ambiente a bit on the noisy side.

One of my favourite restaurants in Zurich. Perfect mixture of quality and novelty. The sort of high quality food that is special but still easy to like. The pork belly is the best dish in my opinion, but none of the plates I have tried there disappoint. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Always worth a visit!

To say each dish was a masterpiece feels like an understatement. We embarked on a flavor expedition with the starters; the freshness of the ingredients sang through, promising an extraordinary meal ahead. My main course was an exquisite taste and texture symphony blending traditional cooking methods with avant-garde elements. The chef's ability to make every ingredient shine individually yet harmonize perfectly in the dish speaks volumes about the meticulous care and passion poured into their cooking. Dessert was the grand finale, a sweet testament to Barranco's commitment to excellence. It was the perfect ending to an evening that danced along the lines of magic. It's surprising that I'm the first to review this gem. It's also surprising that this is only a Michelin "recommended" restaurant, but not a rated one. I mean, what are they lacking in order to earn that coveted star? But I guess I should count my fortune that it's not, otherwise I may not have been able to secure a seat or that their pricing is beyond my comfort level. All of that to say that the food this restaurant serves are outstanding! They offer some of the best Peruvian dishes I've ever had. The ceviche is a must order! Trust me on this and get it. Yes the presentations are stunning, but there are great flavors behind all of those layers and I thoroughly enjoyed every single dish.
