Stopped by after a visit to the Jack Daniels distillery. It looks like a small location on the outside, but feels expansive once you get inside. There was no wait for a table with a party of 2. The food was good. I would recommend the ghost pepper bbq sauce if you have a stomach for spice. The crack sandwiches are worth hype. Once of the ladies seemed to have an attitude, but everyone else was the epitome of souther hospitality.

Unpopular opinion: this is the worst BBQ I’ve ever had. The server was incredibly rude. The atmosphere is..eclectic. There is graffiti and items all over the place from past patrons. I had the 1/2 rack rib platter. The ribs would have been good if I could have enjoyed them the day they were made. It definitely was not today. They were so dry I had a hard time getting through them. The ends were inedible. I wasn’t expecting jerky when I ordered ribs. Green beans were spicy but somehow also flavorless. My brother had the nachos, they were dry and cold. Interesting choice to put cold pre shredded cheese on top of a pile of lukewarm dry pork. I’ve had better nachos at Applebees. My other brother had the grilled cheese with pepper Jack and pulled pork on it. Beware sandwiches do not come with sides. They are extra. He said it was decent but wished you could order it with BBQ sauce on it, as the pork was dry. I wouldn’t say the prices are fair, $5.99 for a kids PB&J or plain grilled cheese is outrageous. $7.99 for a hotdog that does not include any side? I am more than happy to pay the price for good food but this place is not it. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone who has small kids or needs accessible spaces (the wheelchair ramp leads to a door blocked by tables, you cannot enter unless someone noticed you and moved half the room) Overall I do not recommend. I fully believe this restaurant is held up by the distillery tours. Without that..well I’m not sure but it wouldn’t be good.

Had the crack grilled cheese sandwich/pulled pork with sweet potato casserole and cole slaw. Crazy good. Service was fast and polite. Great area to spend a hour or so walking around after the distillery tour.

BarrelHouse BBQ in Lynchburg is INSANE—in the best way! Every. Inch. of the walls is COVERED in dollar bills. It’s like money rained from the ceiling. And the Grilled Cheese Crack Jack? Fuggedaboutit. Cheesy, gooey, crispy perfection that’ll make you do a happy dance in the restaurant. Staff are awesome, vibes are legendary, and you’ll leave dreaming about your next visit. Go now, grab that sandwich, slap a dollar on the wall, and thank me later.

It's not every barbecue place that has a barbecue baked potato. Theirs was good; well cooked and not the largest I've seen, but not so small I was wondering where the rest was. The decor was unique with money on the walls. We went here at an off time, as there were no crowds anywhere in town. Showing up at a popular time on a weekend might be different.

Great BBQ pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich for $8! Easy 5 minute walk from Jack Daniel’s Distillery and food arrived quickly. Would recommend to anyone exploring Lynchburg after a distillery tour.

Barrel House BBQ is a hidden gem for anyone who loves great BBQ! The ribs are absolutely delicious—tender, smoky, and full of flavor. The owner is incredibly friendly and makes you feel right at home, always ready to recommend something amazing from the menu. A fantastic spot for amazing food and a warm, welcoming vibe. Highly recommend!

Recommended from JD Distillery tour for the grilled cheese on Crack. It was so-so. I had higher expectations of it. It had a good flavor, but I wish I'd order something else. Ribs were delicious, as well as potato salad. Fries were weak. I've had better, sweet potato casserole. Glad we tried it anyway.

Had lunch after our distillery tour. The service was outstanding -southern hospitality! My husband ordered the ribs and had a fantastic flavor. The fries were good and beans were ok. The melted cheese w pork (on crack) was really good! Order either one- you will be happy you did. They do serve beer!

We dined today for lunch. Good pulled pork sandwich, home fries and baked beans. The mean was not heavily seasoned, the sauce was a nice topper on the sandwiches. My husband loved the sweet tea. My son had the hamburger. Be sure to take a dollar bill and a sharpie!

I'm used to Texas BBQ so I might not be the best judge here. I found the BBQ okay. Best thing was the pulled pork. I liked that they had Habanero and Scorpion BBQ sauces but found them lacking heat and too sweet. Sausage was tasty but on the small side. I would have liked some pickles, onions and jalapeños. I didn't ask so I'm not sure if they have them but they didn't come with it and they weren't offered. I was there on a not too busy, cold day and the food wasn't that warm. The coleslaw was pretty bland. Fun interior with dollars all over the walls and lots of graffiti.

We stopped in here before our Jack Daniels tour and it was perfect !!! We had the grilled cheese on crack and it was delicious . Ordered half a rack of ribs and woah so so good! I appreciated the quick service , hospitality, food and prices. I would definitely recommend you check them out !

The best barbecue sauce I had the whole trip! So so good! The fries and coleslaw were amazing and the ribs and pulled pork yummy!

Delicious option for lunch before your distillery tour. Our server handmade the Jack in the bundt German chocolate cake dessert, which was a highlight of the meal for me. So moist with a clear whisky note, crunchy nut topping and well balanced sweetness--a must order for dessert fans! The savories weren't bad either--I liked the briny tang of the vinegar slaw, the baked beans were perfectly on point, and the pulled chicken was delicious when topped with my choice of three available BBQ sauces. BF devoured his half rack of ribs, but thought that the chicken was a tad dry.

First let me say. I don't eat much barbecue. I live in Texas and am not a fan of our smoked bbq. But this is not that! This the best I've ever had. And I thought Kansas City bbq was my favorite. Not anymore. I will come back to Lynchburg TN just for this!! Got the large pulled pork sandwich and full rack of ribs. Both excellent!! Ribs were crazy good though!! And the sauces! I used all 3 and bringing some bottles home. And Im not sharing . Servers were super nice too. And atmosphere was so unique with all the dollar bills hanging and Jack Daniels bottle lights. Very unique with personality! I missed out on dessert as they didn't have any. But it's a good thing because I am popping out of my yoga pants! Maybe next time

Came from LA for the RAMS vs Titans game and completed the Jack Daniel tour and stopped for lunch. Food was great. Big portions. Cute hole in the wall. Great BBQ flavor options. Service was ok. If you get offended easy and expect friendliness this place isn't it. They are down to earth hardworking people that are here to serve you food. Owner came out to ask our opinions and how things were and we let him know it was great. Great experience overall.

Came here to fill up our belly with some bbq before the Jack Daniels distillery trail. We got the pull chicken and half rack ribs, with coleslaw and baked beans for the sides. The chicken is a bit dry but goes ok with the bbq sauce. The ribs are great, especially with the scorpion sauce. The charted meat with the kick of the bbq sauce is delicious. The place is packed, service is quick and attentive. Def the local bbq spot to try if you are in town.

Stopped by after visiting the Jack Daniel's distillery. I had heard many good things about this place prior and decided to listen to the people. Unfortunately, I came out thinking I shouldn't have listened to the people. Going in immediately we were greeted with red flags. They were out of various things. No fries, no banana pudding, etc. On the upside, the first steps inside of this place were pretty sweet. Loved the character this place had to give. Dollar bills, notes, business cards everywhere you looked. I ordered a crack jack with the sweet potato casserole and potato salad. My boyfriend ordered a loaded potato and a rib plate with green beans and slaw as the sides. The food came out super quick! Unfortunately, everything on my plate was mediocre. Nothing tasted great! I couldn't even finish the entirety of my plate, as a result. My boyfriend enjoyed his ribs, but unfortunately, everything else was a bust too. Tip: The sauces are saviors! This is definitely a place you go for ambiance and not for the food. Not sure if it's because this is a small town, but this establishment is definitely overhyped.

This is a little hole in a wall BBQ joint. We stopped by here to grab a quick bite before our tour at the Jack Daniels distillery. They don't have any seafood or vegetarian items, so if you don't eat meat, your choices are minimal. We got the grilled cheese crack jack sandwich and also the classic grilled cheese.  The sandwiches were pretty sad looking and tasted just meh. That being said, the service was good, and the food was served quickly.

We stopped in after going to Jack Daniel's and also because our bus driver, Frank, suggested this place, probably because he gets a free meal for advertising it. We ended up ordering a smoked chicken salad wrap, ribs, pulled chicken and smoked sausage. We weren't a fan of the rib flavor, but it's probably because we're used to ribs with sauce on them rather than just a dry rub, but they were juicy. The pulled chicken was good and juicy and, with the bbq sauce put on, tasted great. The smoked sausage had a nice crunch and tasted very good with the dipping sauce they gave. The sweet teas were also great and hit the spot on a day that turned out to be a little hotter than expected. Bring your marked dollar bills or stickers for the walls.

Really tasty BBQ. The pulled pork was really good, not salty or briny but tender and moist for a great combination of pepper cheese between fresh bread. Nice value too for a lunch. Yuengling was served at the properly cold temperature. Fun ambiance and nice service.Kudo's.

First red flag was when we entered and no one was there except for the 3-4 employees seated at a back table and three guys at a table I noticed later. No one was in a hurry to get up and seat us and they had some words about whose turn it was to serve... When I go to a BBQ restaurant I'm looking for a variety of meats. There was no turkey, brisket, or smoke smell, which was the second red flag. I ordered a burger which was decent. The variety of sauces was a high point and I recommend the Habanero bbq sauce for fries and the burger. Cool dive bar for the area. I signed the ceiling and left my mark but for $22 I'll venture to another spot if I come back.

While in Lynchburg in July, on a tour to the Jack Daniels Distillery, the driver for our bus tour mentioned Barrel House BBQ for lunch. He vouched heavy for it so naturally, I thought it would be good to try it out. Upon arriving, the outside looks like a small farmhouse in a western movie. Inside has charm though. There is comfortable seating while the walls are filled with notes and markings from previous visitors. There were also notes of money pinned to the walls. Very unique and it felt like something from an old 80s movie. Given the small space, seating was naturally limited. In addition, staffing was limited that day. I entered and was met by a couple who had been waiting for a table. It took some time before a server came over to inquire with all of us. She mentioned that it was a long wait, therefore I decided to take my meal to go. I ordered the "Grilled Cheese on Crack Jack", as per my driver's recommendation. It was ready within a decent amount of time. Before exiting, I grabbed some habanero and mild bbq sauce in a side cup. I found a bench right up the block from the restaurant and dived in. The sandwich is a simple grilled cheese filled with sliced pepper jack cheese and a good sized portion of pulled pork. It's very reminiscent of a sandwich from a barbecue event, do not expect anything fancy. The taste of the sandwich was nothing spectacular and certainly did not live up to the hype. It seemed like it was a rushed venture because the cheese was barely melted but the pork was warm. The seasoning on the pork was ok but the texture was dry. Adding the BBQ sauce was definitely worth it as it kicked up the flavor and moistness. I did not order any sides or beverages for this meal. In terms of pricing, it was $8. I'm not sure it's worth it but for the ingredients, it seemed appropriate. Staff were kind and welcoming despite the short comings. Overall, it was a nice visit but the sandwich just didn't do it for me. I would not return but it was nice to say I tried it.

Before visiting the Jack Daniel Distillery, we came here for lunch right when they opened at 11 AM. The restaurant is full of hand written $1 bills and sharpie signatures on the wall which was unique. I ordered the Pulled Pork plate with two sides of greens beans and potato salad. The food was fantastic and served insanely quick.

We walk in, hostess seats us at the "bar" tells us our waiter will be right there. Another party of two walks in, she brings them to the booth area, seemingly cooler, their waitress shows up 10 seconds later brings their drinks, 5 minutes later their food comes. We still haven't seen our waitress, hostess decides to get our drinks order and says, if she has a large party outside, let me see how far she is. Why would you seat a party inside if you know your waitress has a large outdoor party? Poor planning. Poor execution. Kinda started the whole experience off on the wrong foot. Probably won't be back. Probably will let others know it's poor service, even if the waitress was ok, the hostess sets the tone. Do b

What once was great, is a thing of the past. Friend been bragging about this place for awhile. Finally got a chance to go and was highly disappointed. The chicken plate was extremely dry, couldn't eat. The brisket was taken off the menu. The burger was basic. The sausage was good with the mustard sauce but I don't think it's an in house recipe. Servers were nice but not dependable so we were checked on once. Had to flag her down to get extra anything. Had to go to the counter to get check and we advised then how bad the chicken was. They did take that off. Sweet potato casserole was the best thing we ordered.

Went to the Jack Daniel's Distillery. Came across this place. Cool little spot. Ambiance was what you would expect from a BBQ place. Clean and busy. We beat the rush so we didn't have much of a wait but it got busy when we were eating. Service was great. We were not that impressed with the food. The ribs and chicken were both dry. The ribs seemed like they were over cooked or just sat and dried out. The sauces on the table were good. Not sure if we just stopped on a bad day but I like to think we did. This place has a lot of potential. It's worth a try

Came to town to see the JD Distillery, like most. Was recommended Barrel House by the guide. When I tell you this was the best BBQ I've ever had, I completely mean it. The restaurant itself is small, however, we did not wait long to be seated. Honestly, I'd wait an hour plus, that's how good everything was. Service was great. The pulled pork was the most flavorful pulled pork I've had to date. Their house made BBQ sauce should be flavor-town USA signature sauce. The ribs punched you in the mouth with flavor, they don't even need sauce. That's how you know they're gangster! The sides, the potato salad, honestly was some of the best I've ever had. Baked bean were delicious, with the right amount of sweet. The sweet potato casserole is worth coming for alone, I'll leave it out that. I am fortunate this place is only 30 mins from me, I'll be back regularly.

I visited on 7/8/24. The atmosphere was very similar to a dive-bar, but that's exactly what you'd expect in a place like this. The ribs and spicy sausage were the best pieces of barbecued meat I had during my 4 days in Tennessee; lovely smoke and tenderness on the ribs, and the perfect heat from the sausage. The sides were pretty average (the slaw was as finely chopped as KFC's, so there wasn't as much texture), and if you told me that the baked beans were poured out of a can, I'd believe you; they weren't unpleasant, but I expected something more. That being said, the quality of the meat covered a multitude of sins! I'd return if ever in the area again. P.S. The Men's restroom had what may be the best piece of graffiti that I've ever seen written, "Revenge of the Sith is the best Star Wars movie." Amazing.

Came here for a Lynchburg Cheeseburger. The atmosphere is interesting. People sign the walls and leave $1 bills everywhere. Took awhile to get helped, but the staff were polite and apologized. Two tour buses for the distillery stopped in and it was busy. The 8 oz cheeseburger was large and full of good lettuce, tomato, and fixings. The bun was cold and plain. The burger was well done and slightly juicy. The cheese was not melted. I would normally give the burger three stars, but the wait staff worked so hard and took care of things that I give the experience 4 stars.

Kicking up my heels over this place! The food was delicious!!! Mouth watering, savory, comforting goodness. I loved the atmosphere. Tagged walls and money covered each end of this restaurant, which is the character and charm of this place. Service was friendly and excellent. We got the Crack Jack Grilled Cheese which is pulled pork, pepper Jack cheese, on sourdough bread. Add some bbq sauce and you go straight to heaven. I will forever be chasing this taste. It was that good. The baked potato pulled pork mash was great too, and potato salad. Located in small Jack Daniel's Distillery town, Lynchburg, with a bunch of shops.

We went there on a Monday evening, probably a half hour before they were going to close to place a takeout order. The food came out really quick, which was a bit concerning because it made me think that it probably wasn't that fresh. We had the triple meat platter with two sides. We got ribs, pulled pork, and pulled chicken. Our two sides were baked beans and macaroni and cheese. The ribs were a solid 10. They were delicious. The pulled pork and chicken were a bit dry. It kind of felt like they've been sitting in a warmer for many hours. Since there's not many restaurants to choose from on a Monday in Lynchburg, Tennessee, it was good enough for a quick meal..

This is the definition of a hole in wall in the best way possible. We came here prior to our Jack Daniel's tour and it's walking distance from the distillery, so it's easy to just park in the tour lot or in town (can get to everything with a few minute's walk). This place was packed, but things move fast here and we were able to be seated quickly. We all got pulled pork sandwiches for a quick lunch and the BBQ was good (not the best we've had, but it was tasty). Portions were good and we left there satisfied. The restaurant itself is a no-frills country BBQ shack and every square inch of the walls are covered with either with writing or money from around the world. It's a good place to grab a quick lunch if you're in the area.

Came in after our tour of Jack Daniels. Our cousins live in Shelbyville where they have a restaurant too. They had grilled cheese w pork and one w chicken. I think it was "crack jack". I had chicken salad sandwich w potatoe salad. I was sad the salad was store bought not homemade. My husband had sausage sandwich and green beans. Nothing to write home about very bland. Server was spending a lot of time talking about her troubled childhood with another table. The ambiance was typical dive bar but without the bar.

Went there on the recommendation of our bus driver as we were going to do a tour of Jack Daniels. Yes it was a dive and I expected that but the food was way too rushed. The bread was hardly browned and the cheese was not melted at all...Not even a little. It was simply put on white bread with some pulled chicken on top. It could have been way better if the cook cared a little more in my opinion. There was no reason to rush as the food came out in less that 5 minutes and was not overly busy. Seems like they are banking on the Food Network status to drive customers in rather than the quality of food.

This is the cutest little cozy spot that is known for their bbq pulled pork. Their sauces were so amazing that I had to buy a bottle to bring back home. Not expensive at all and service was stellar. You can also write your name anywhere with a marker. Great spot to stop by after the Jack Daniels tour.

Live music, service was amazing food was delicious, eyes definitely bigger than our stomach we could've shared the portions are pretty big. 10/10

Stopped for lunch before our tour of the Jack Daniels distillery. The place itself is so interesting, the walls are covered with peoples names or dollar bills. The tables are made of whiskey barrels. I got the grilled jack on crack. Which was a grilled pepper jack cheese with and pulled pork. The meat was so over following I was only able to eat half my sandwich. Everyone else also expressed how full their sandwiches / platter were.

We had lunch here today, the food was delicious and plentiful. Our server Kristen was fast and friendly and the price of our meals was on point. Highly recommend

Came here while walking through historic Lynchburg, TN after visiting the Jack Daniel's distillery. Saw that this place had been on BBQ pitmasters, so decided to stop in and give it a try. I ordered a Pulled Pork plate along with a large pulled pork sandwich. The plate was a little overkill and I probably should have just ordered two sandwiches. Potato salad seemed like it was from a tub from Walmart and the peach cobbler was mid. The plate and the sandwiches both contained lots of pulled pork and was the bomb. If I am around in the area, would come back.

The only good thing about stopping here was the service. I was shocked at how bad the barbecue was. It was incredibly dry, flavorless and felt like it had been sitting for sometime. I tried the three meat plate. The sausage tasted like it was mass produced and I cook better pulled chicken at home. We stopped here per a recommendation and figured it would be great. If you are in Lynchburg, and need lunch after your Jack Daniel's tour, save your money and don't stop here.

this is a pretty small restaurant but they know how to fill you in! the grilled cheese with bbq in it was very good and i really enjoyed it. i recommend it! their potato salad was lacking salt and their coleslaw was not my favorite.

We did the jack daniels tour and went to the gift shop after. We asked for a recommendation for lunch. We were told about the grilled cheese crack jack and decided to try it. I regret not taking a picture but it smelled so incredible when it came out, we immediately dove in. It was beyond delicious! My husband and I split the sandwich because we were not starving but the truth is I wish I lived closer so I could come back for more. Everything was perfect, the bread, the cheese and they were extremely generous with the pulled pork which did not have an iota of fat. Simply scrumptious!

The service was quick and the food was decent. It was also cool to see all the dollars bills up on the walls. If you eat here I recommend getting the pulled pork sandwich with cheese added.

Ambiance is fun! Service is great! Food is fantastic, easy and inexpensive. This is a must in Lynchburg. The owner came up and you can tell his love for the place and food and the people.

Stopped in here based on the Yelp reviews. So they work! Unique place. Lots of character. Ordered the smoke chicken salad and a pulled pork sandwich. My spouse loved the sweet potato soufflé! Service was good. Food was good although the chicken on my didn't taste as Smokey as I anticipated. Really has a cool outside area. Would come again. It is a very cool place

Suh good!! We had reservations for Mary Bobo's to round out the Jack Daniel's Distillery experience, but due to a power outage, that was cancelled. We asked the gals at the distillery what was the best place to go and they suggested here and the "grilled cheese on crack". We were greeted promptly, ordered waters and the grill cheese crack jack plate with sweet potato casserole and backed beans. The food came out quick! My husband and I were BOTH super happy with the food and it's rare that we agree on any food item lol. It was soooo good y'all. The pork was yummy! He opted for habanero bbq and me the mild. The sweet potato casserole tasted like straight up pumpkin pie and the beans were that perfect chili/baked beans flavor blend that I love. I wish I had ordered some beans to go.....

While visiting the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, TN, I stopped in at the Barrel House BBQ for lunch. Its a small, country house, with BBQ as the main food on the menu. You walk in and the first thing you notice are the walls covered with dollar $ bills. Bills Everywhere! The next thing you notice is how small the place is and you can tell the Barrel House has been around for many, many, years. I call that nostalgic. The servers were all friendly and service was quick. The food was delicious, too. If I'm ever back in Lynchburg I know where I'm having lunch or dinner.

We saw a sign for Barrel House while on our Jack Daniel's Tour, and we are so glad we stopped by! My brother and I tried the Grilled Cheese on Crack (which has pulled pork), Ribs, and Brisket, and my goodness we were stuffed by the end. Everything was so flavorful and juicy, and their barbecue sauces (particularly their Scorpion) really hit the spot. Plus, the staff were incredibly kind and friendly, and the interior was very fun with dollar bills, signed Jack Daniel's bottles, and wall signatures all-around. I can't wait to visit when I'm in the area again!

We stopped in after the Jack tour looking for a quick snack. As per our norm, over-ordered and was not disapointed. 1 1/2 racks of baby backs, pulled pork and house sausage. Plenty to go around. Coked to perfection. Went with the potato salad and vinegar slaw as sides. Wait stay was attentive and the vibe was cool too.

We visited barrel house today for the first time, and it was a very pleasant experience. Our server Qy, was very accommodating and the food was really good. The atmosphere was clean and so inviting, I loved the life plants on the counter bar. This is now, my friend's and I, fave place to meet.
