Ambience and view was amazingly great.. food was really delectable, we enjoyed every bite of it. The waiter was very nice, friendly... you can really enjoy dining here. They didn't rush us so we were able to really enjoy each other's company and savor the food

Beautiful spot to enjoy the SF Bay, and a nice drink. There isn’t a bad place to sit in the place. We loved Sausalito. It’s a beautiful town. We split a pizza and it had no flavor but the servers were great!

Made reservations to this place and our clients loved it. We had a great view of the bay city and the drinks and food was fantastic. We did arrive on a nice sunny Sunday so service took a bit but definitely would come back again!

This was one of the few restaurants on my list for Sausalito, and since this was the closest to the biking path from San Francisco and we were famished, we decided to eat here. They don’t really have bike parking, so you have to go to the ferry building and park there. There was a 30 minute wait, but we got a table in close to 15 minutes. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It is huge and modern with a lot of different seating areas. They also have an outdoor seating area directly facing the sea, but it is not ideal for groups. The service was prompt and very personable. The restaurant was fully packed, but still we felt taken care of. We had a few vegetarians in the group and the menu had few vegetarian dishes as well. The food was hit or miss to be honest. I loved the shrimp, calamari and octopus fritters. It was really fresh and extremely crispy. The sandwiches were solid, but nothing crazy. My short rib was very nicely cooked, but the cauliflower purée lacked any seasoning. My friends vegetarian flatbread was also extremely bland. I guess you can give this place a try for its amazing ambience and service, but I wouldn’t come here just for the food.

Google
I really enjoyed eating here, the views and tranquility are hard to match in Sausalito. I did end up with food I didn’t order, and somehow had a couple items from the people sitting next to me on my bill, which was fixed with no hassle. I did not care for the shishito pepper appetizer, the peppers were bitter and had no flavor. The clam chowder, which is much more broth like than most, was delicious though and I’d absolutely order it again.

Want to get the happy hour oysters and beer special? Grab a bar counter seat. Because you are a cheapskate they won’t let you sit out on the balcony with the better view. Those pay full price are first class and I’m a coach seat kind of people I sit inside with not view. Oh, the beer was good and so were the oysters, but they are kind of small.

Happy Hour in Sausalito and the Barrel House Tavern is the place to go! We came here pretty late close to closing which is 9pm with a large group of about 10 after an event nearby. They were busy but the bar area was nice and had a great view looking out. It took them a second to clean up the area but they got to take our orders and we should have asked to separate it by table. We didn’t order any drinks but we just wanted some food, people in my group ordered their oysters, sausage pizza, sliders, ceviche (really lite), I got the buffalo chicken wings that came with 6, and someone else got a flat bread. I think everyone enjoyed and devoured their food while the others also just chilled and socialized. It’s very nice inside and you feel like you’re in a barrel overlooking the water. Parking can be be a bit difficult in this area, there’s metered and 2 hour street parking until 6pm and 8pm in some areas. There are also some parking lots nearby. A nice place to check out if you’re in the area, might be a lot of tourists too.

Google
Rude and cold reception right at the door, not a great start. The food was just okay, nothing special. Service matters, and this place didn’t deliver. Two stars for the lack of basic hospitality. The raw oyster was good though, l like the sauces it came with.

Yelp
The hostess was lovely! It was a beautiful evening in Sausalito, and she was able to seat us out on the deck, which made the night even more special. The food was delicious and the service was perfect. A wonderful experience all around.

Yelp
Both the food and the service were outstanding. Wonderful views of San Francisco too!

Yelp
This was my second visit to Barrel House, and I've loved it each time. I like to sit outside because the views are just magical. You can see SF, Oakland, Alcatraz, Angel Island, etc., right from your seat. It's just an incredible way to enjoy a meal and drinks. The Strawberry Margerita is delicious here. I've tried the ginger one as well. While I enjoyed it, it may taste a bit medicinal if you're not a huge fan of ginger. Also tried the Mt Tam Pale Ale and it was very good. I like the bitterness of a Pale Ale, and this did not disappoint. Good flavor and aroma. If you're feeling extra giddy, get an Oyster Shooter. Good for the wang, or so I've been told. Tried the Snapper Sandwich and it's an absolute winner. Plenty of fish, cooked perfectly, with veggies and bread with the perfect crunch. Garlic fries were good enough, but pale in comparison to the sandwich. Brussels are nice appetizer along with the calamari and shrimp fritti. Both these items are good as well. It's beautiful inside as well, but I just really enjoy the outside, so it's large part of my 5-star. Additionally, I wanted to say that our server, Braiden, was fun and attentive as well.

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend for our anniversary. The interior was nice and cozy, and we got a corner seat with a view of the bay which was really nice. Our server was friendly too. We were looking forward to ordering from the happy hour menu but didn't know we had to sit at the bar for that. There's both street parking and a parking lot available, but neither are free. For our anniversary, our server gave us complimentary champagne to pair with our oysters and ceviche, which came with taro chips, so good. I also ordered a glass of Chardonnay. For my entree, I got the chimichurri steak, medium, and it came with an arugula salad. The flavor was good, but I was a little disappointed the steak looked more well-done than medium. My boyfriend got the jumbo sea scallops with risotto and it was delicious. Highly recommend trying that. The ceviche came with scallops and shrimp and had a nice kick to it. We also got a half dozen oysters which were super fresh and they gave us three different kinds, two of each. For dessert, we shared an affogato with biscotti. Simple but really good. Overall, this place is decent and a nice spot if you're looking for good vibes, fancy dining, and a nice view.

Yelp
Had a great time at Barrel House during happy hour! We grabbed seats at the bar and enjoyed a few dishes that really hit the spot. The oysters were fresh, the fennel sausage flatbread was decent, but the real standout was the buffalo wings--perfectly crispy on the outside and fall-off-the-bone tender inside. Some of the best I've had in a while! The location is another big plus--right on the water and just steps from the ferry, which made it super convenient and scenic.

Yelp
Food was delicious, hostesses were so friendly even though it was PACKED, and the views were perfect. Such a great place and if you are looking for a place to go to in Sausalito don't look anywhere else and just come here. Highly recommend getting the steak sandwich with garlic fries and the frosted margarita. Both were perfect for a summer day.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place as it had a beautiful view and good reviews on yelp. However, experience was subpar. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the view However, a few things were quite underwhelming 1. Happy hour only is valid at the bar, but we were not told nor is it listed anywhere until we sat down outside so my aim of taking advantage of the happy hour was not fulfilled 2. The Panko snapper sandwich was flavorless. They did split it for us without us asking, which was a nice touch, but the sandwich was underwhelming. 3. Overall, pricey, I guess the view is what people pay for. 4.. Our 19-year-old waiter couldn't bother to take pictures with both hands and so even though he took photos for us. They were awful. The service and the food just didn't quite live up to the prices and the good reviews. A disappointing anniversary lunch.

Yelp
This was my very first time visiting Sausalito, CA & this lil town did not disappoint! It was so peaceful and beautiful while we were walking to find a quick bite we noticed this spot and the happy hour menu was too good not to pass up. The only problem was that happy hour menu was only for bar seating and I wanted to sit outside near the water but couldn't do that. So we went to the bar and although it was packed we snagged 2 seats. It was very intimate like campfire style, everyone was sitting so close to one another but we had a corner spot so it was cute. Our table was so small we could barely order food but I aS only focused on the $2 oyster deal or whatever it was and it was delicious!! I would go back for the oysters alone but we had a bit of trouble with our server he kept brushing us off and waited to other people and kind of ignored us I guess we weren't the usually crowd but whatever. I wanted to order a lot more things but he stated some things weren't serving and on the menu it said it was but I wasn't going to argue in a crowded upscale kind of place so I just got a few more drinks n brushed it off. This was fun and would definitely return

Yelp
Came here for 2 people on Saturday around noon. Seated instantly with a semi view of the water. Attentive wait staff. Ordered the ceviche and linguini clam pasta. Both were AMAZING, but the ceviche blew us away. So fresh and delicious. We split these between the two of us. Ordered a lemonade as well but it mostly tasted of the hibiscus syrup, and not of lemonade. The bill came out to $90 which is steep considering we only shared an appetizer, a pasta and one non alcoholic drink. Minus one star for that, but we'll be back anyways since it was delicious!

Yelp
It has become a tradition whenever we visit San Francisco, we make a point of dining at the Barrel House in Sausalito. Reservations are a must as this place fills up fast. We never know what the weather will be like, so we don't request patio seating, but hope it is available when we arrive. This time, Max was nice enough to show us to a table on the patio, but unfortunately it was too hot of a day for us and we felt like we would be uncomfortable baking in the sun. So, he accommodated us and let us select another table inside with an equally nice view. Although it was busy with late-lunch service and a large party seated in the middle of the restaurant, Max took exceptional care of us! I started with the frosty margarita which was so refreshing on a warm day. We shared the crab cakes, which were crispy on the outside and full of delicious crabmeat on the inside. As my main, I had the salmon and believe this was the best piece of salmon I have ever had. It melted in my mouth and was so flavorful. I also loved that it was accompanied by couscous, butternut squash, cauliflower, and micro greens with just a touch of tarragon cream sauce that blended well and did not overpower the dish. The flavor profile was outstanding! My husband ordered the beef burger with a side of garlic parmesan fries and was equally impressed with the quality and cook of the burger as well as the crispy, delicious fries. We can't say enough good things about this Sausalito gem! The architecture and decor, service and food are unparalleled. We can't wait to visit again this Summer!

Yelp
We wanted to make a stop for drinks this afternoon after seeing the Golden Gate bridge. Barrel House is in a great location, and we got there right at happy hour time. They had a great Kolsch beer on their menu, so we sat back on the street side in the bar. The service was great and the design of the place is unique. Next time, I would want to sit out on the rail and have a full meal.

Yelp
Amazing experience in the bay! If you're Looking for amazing food , views , and a good vibe check out Barrel House Tavern !!! The Lobster Fundido is absolutely amazing , and their cocktails are handcrafted to Perfection!

Yelp
Came here for the first time for our anniversary. It's not in the photo but we also ordered tuna tacos. The service was good but the food wasn't great so you're mostly paying for the nice view.

Yelp
We came back again and amazed by the service, food, and view! This time we sat outside. It was chilly but the heaters were great to balance out. We tried this lobster fondido recommended by our server and IT WAS AMAZINGGGGG! If you are in this area, try this out. This may be our regular spot for nice meals.

Yelp
My family tried this restaurant upon the recommendation of a friend. We arrived earlier than our scheduled reservations at 2pm but were seated immediately. Our server was courteous and helpful with the menu. The food. Lobster dip and baked oysters were delicious. Ravioli and the shrimp risotto were excellent. The pork ribs were tender but had no flavor at all. I think it was boiled without seasoning- not slow cooked. The pork chop (special of the day) was dry and tough. Drinks were decent. The apple juice had this unique flavor. I forget to ask how it was made. Ambiance was perfect for a gorgeous day. The overall experience was good. I would still recommend this place but be wary of the pork dishes.

Yelp
Nice view of the water, and the service was great. The food was good and everything came out fast

Yelp
It was packed when i arrived but we still got seated quickly. Beautiful view, one of the few places that not only provided a great experience but also delicious food. Definitely want to return and try more food.

Yelp
The food was delicious. The service was very considerate and paid a lot of attention to the quality of our experience. We definitely look forward to coming again! Its the sweetest spot in the bay and the best street to enjoy a gorgeous walk surrounded by flowers.

Yelp
Excelent, good Services , good food! Love the view, nesr to the ocean, simple amazing

Madeline C.

Yelp
Service was great and everyone was very nice. The view was gorgeous. It was a little windy so we wished the heaters would have been stronger. Also the cheeseburger was simple, it could have had bacon or an egg.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised on a Friday night . I love a good happy hour & they have one 3-9pm M-F other deals Th- Sun! Being from Buffalo, I can say their buffalo wings are on point! & appreciate the draft beer selection too. I will definitely be back with friends . And oh did I mention, Waterfront views of the bay!!!

Yelp
Great service. Reservations at 530pm and we got seated right away. Our server was beyond wonderful and gave us great recommendation. Food was 10/10, I still dream about often. Great ambience with great view. Spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
We loved the Barrel House Tavern! Came here last night for celebratory drinks and seafood with a view, and the restaurant did not disappoint. They are very busy, so if you can make a reservation at least a day in advance, that is best. Otherwise, you can put your name in and chill at the bar like we did. They have a lot of unique cocktails, including a fun happy hour on the weekends. I was happy to see some non-alcoholic cocktail options on the menu as well. We ordered the scallops and clam chowder soup (very light with fresh clams; no bread bowl). Both were delicious. My one ask would be to add more gluten free friendly options or substitutions to the menu. We were shocked that we could not substitute taro chips for the bread that came with the soup. Other than that, the ambiance and service were great.

Yelp
Barrel House Tavern is a very popular restaurant in Sausalito, CA with an oceanfront view of the SF bay. There are garage parking (which are expensive) and street parking which is harder to get, but there is a lot available. Reservations are recommended for the best view in the restaurant (Outside dining area). Outside dining might look stunning but the area is tiny and not recommended for big parties. When I went here, it was a full house and crowded. Service was very attentive and nice considering they were busy. Not only was the interior and exterior decor one-of-a-kind and stunning, but the foods and cocktails were delicious. The clam chowder was tasty and had clams which I thought would make it taste fishy, but it wasn't. I wish the clam chowder was more creamy instead of watery (9/10). The oyster's might have tasted fresh, but I wish it was washed better as there was so much sand in it (6/10). The beef short ribs were tasty and tender, tasted perfect with the mash (10/10). The risotto was also really good and I highly recommend it (10/10). The creme brulee was really good and the fruits complimented it and made it taste refreshing (9/10). Finally, their cocktail was so refreshing and delicious. It is a must get if you check this place out.

Yelp
Food was great and our server was even better super attentive to our needs even though a busy Friday night.. definitely recommend this place. Great views.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was busy Ambiance - great view to the bay Food was good Reservation is a must Parking is a challenge Great afternoon meals where you can walk on shore to enjoy the local shops Clam chowder was total different, not thick but loaded with clams and potatoes Flatbread is thin and healthy, loaded with veggies

Yelp
What a great spot across the bridge, right on the water and the inside was so super cute. The food was fantastic, we had the Wood Oven Pineapple Glazed BBQ Pork Ribs and Caribbean Spiced Shrimp Risotto. Food and drinks were delicious. Brayden served us wonderfully and we were able to get in and out of there pretty quickly before the lunch rush on a Saturday!

Yelp
We spent a perfect afternoon by the water in Sausalito at this beautiful waterfront restaurant. With a stunning view and excellent service, we enjoyed a bottle of champagne along with two types of oysters, shrimp risotto, ravioli, shrimp cocktail, and dessert. No complaints!!!

Yelp
This is one of my fav places to dine when visiting Sausalito. Their killer views, small heated outdoor area, good service, fun drinks, and quality of food makes this place a favorite place to visit on a clear or cooler day. Do make reservations or try to dine earlier as this place gets pretty busy. From the aesthetics (cool fireplace, restaurant shaped like a barrel, gorgeous views of the bay, and modern decor) to the variety of items on the menu, we are always excited to return.

Yelp
Super busy wish we could have sat outside on the beautiful day The drinks were good and the small dishes we ate were very tasty The server that helped us was funny!

Yelp
The positives: Specatular views and gorgeous location. Lively, lovely ambiance. Omg, my Grilled Ribeye sandwich was the best, oozing with mozzarella, meaty umami mushrooms, grilled onions, garlic, and perfectly crunchy French bread! Perfectly balanced and satisfying. I brought half of it home and enjoyed it the next day. Basil lemonade was so refreshing and not too sweet. The negatives: The bacon in my husband's cheeseburger was hard and overcooked. We prefer a little chew to bacon, not so dry and crumbly. The beef tasted high quality but bland. The bun and fresh toppings were good though. But he didn't finish it and that rarely happens. Garlic Parmesan Fries were hard and stale. The parmesan added nice flavor but needed more garlic. I sampled a small piece of my son's chicken from his flatbread sandwich. It was also underseasoned. He said the flavor was mostly from the spicy sauce (chili aoili), which I didn't want again (tried earlier with an appetizer). My brother and his friend had Oyster Shooters and made funny, shocked faces, since there was so much vodka, more than a shot. They said they expected more flavors, like cocktail sauce, horseradish, or anything else to balance it. Too much batter on the overcooked calamari appetizer. We expected tender chewiness inside and lightly crispy batter outside, but it was mostly crunchy. We had to ask and remind our server three times to refill my husband's Diet Coke. He (the server) was hustling though. It was busy, and he had the alcoholic drinks coming out fast and furious. He apologized and we appreciate that. Neutral/nothing to get excited about: Roasted brussel sprouts were good with chili aoili. A little too spicy for me though. Flatbread pizza was ok with peaches, arugula, and balsamic glaze. The bacon surprisingly didn't taste like bacon, just little cubes of unsalted fat. Strange. I'd rate it more like 3.4 stars. Spinnaker down the road far exceeds this place. As you may already know, you're paying high prices for the location and specatular views.

Yelp
We came to Sausalito to enjoy a nice relaxing day. And the game time to eat we decided to check this place out. The view and the interior were very much to our liking. We sat outside watch the bay had a wonderful lunch. The service and the food were terrific.

Yelp
I was pretty skeptical because this seemed like another beach restaurant coasting on a captive audience. But BHT was a nice surprise. The service is pleasant and prompt. We loved the Little Gem Caesar Salad and the Crispy Brussel Sprouts. The Chef's Wood Oven Flatbread was a bit on the bland side. Nice selection of mocktails. Highly recommended!

Victoria V.

Yelp
Barrel House was phenomenal! The service, ambiance and food was 5/5! Highly recommend the Ribs, Oysters & Scallop Risoto! The espresso martini is the best I've ever had as well.

Yelp
I had a fun dinner here recently. It's a very casual vibe but the food and drinks are excellent though somewhat pricey. Beautiful views of the water! We sat inside because of the cold but if the weather is nice I highly recommend sitting outside! Good service and the bar area is nice and cozy if you're just going for a drink. But parking is a mess! There are city lots nearby but they fill up quickly. I parked at another restaurants back lot a block away for $10.

Yelp
My friend and I made reservations here as part of a day trip to Sausalito. Our reservation was 11:30 when they open, and they're very exact about entry time at opening. We were sat at the corner table with windows showing a beautiful view of the bay and San Francisco, which was lovely when the clouds eventually disappeared. Our waiter, Maxwell, was incredibly patient with us since we were rather indecisive and was happy to give us recommendations. We got half a dozen oysters, pomegranate and cranberry mimosas, the Crispy Panko Snapper Ciabatta Bread Sandwich, and the Caribbean Spiced Shrimp Risotto. Oysters: 4/5, very fresh and cool! We got half local and half imported oysters, and the imported ones were bigger and tastier in my opinion. Pomegranate and cranberry mimosas: 3/5, not particularly exciting and rather overpriced for one skinny glass. Crispy Panko Snapper Ciabatta Bread Sandwich: 3/5, crispy fish and fluffy bread! The pickled onion in the sandwich was particularly sharp and sour and dominated the flavor of this dish, which overpowered the light fish. The fries were crispy. Caribbean Spiced Shrimp Risotto: 5/5, per our waiter's recommendation and for good reason! It was smooth and buttery, and the shrimp were enormous. One thing that marred our experience was the quantity of ants on the windowsill. They were crawling around everywhere, which made us nervous considering our table was against the wall. It was raining previously and I know critters like to come inside when it's wet out, but it was not a particularly pleasant addition to the dining experience.

Yelp
Recommended by my cash register guy who apparently sold them their set it was an incredible experience. With small groups on a warm day their water facing patio seats are incredible. Views are without compare. Oysters were incredible!
google avatar

Sil C.

Yelp
Very busy but we were sat quickly on the patio - superb view and friendly service from the hostess to our server Hector. We got the clam chowder which was slightly different than what you'd usually expect (more soupy less creamy) but very good. Steak sandwich also didn't disappoint - just wish there was some jus to dip it in :) Will be coming back!

Yelp
Came here with a friend to try out a new restaurant for my first time ever in Sausalito! The ambiance was amazing, and the views are fantastic as this restaurant is located just on the waterfront! The service was also very good- our server came many times to check on us, and was patient with our questions. The food was immaculate as well. I loved every bite. My friend and I tried the red snapper sandwich with fries, shrimp risotto, oysters (half dozen), and sangria! Food summary: Snapper Sandwich: 9/10 Onions were very pickled and a bit too sour for my taste. Overall tho the fish was fresh and I still loved the taste. Oysters 10/10 Very very fresh. Loved it! Shrimp risotto 10/10 Cheesy and the shrimp is so fresh! I loved this dish and definitely would get it again. Sangria 10/10 Very good taste- I loved the cranberry one, but it was a bit more alcoholic than my friend's pomegranate drink. Overall, a very good restaurant with beautiful views. It is a bit on the pricier side, but well worth it!

Yelp
Came for lunch and everything was perfection! Food (caramelized onion, bacon, walnut, cheese, arugula flatbread and the WOWZY coconut butternut squash soup-don't miss it!)) was amazing. Our server was just fabulous, and I'm kicking myself because I fail to recall his name-apologies! We were outside so the views were beyond spectacular on a gorgeous day in May. The atmosphere and architecture of this space is simply to die for. Do check out every nook and cranny. We didn't want to leave. They knock everything out of the park here.
google avatar

Stacey F.

Yelp
The views surrounding the restaurant were so beautiful and peaceful. That was the primary reason we chose to eat here and they didn't disappoint. Especially as the sun went down and the city skyline light up in the dark. The food was not fabulous. I ordered oysters and they were sandy and had an off-taste. Not spoiled, just not briney or sweet. Boo. The halibut special came with garlic mashed potatoes that tasted really off. They had a fishy, raw garlic taste to them which was really unpleasant and ruined most of the dish. The succotash was good though, thankfully. The Cajun shrimp risotto wasn't bad. Shrimp were a little overcooked, but had good flavor. The risotto part was okay. Drinks were tasty (great whiskey special and yummy Pepper Paloma), basic ice cream desserts were expensive, and the table we got smooshed into was uncomfortable and frustrating given we had a reservation. At least it still had a view of the water, but we had to empty each side of the table to get people in and out. Won't be back, but enjoyed seeing the bay.

Yelp
Service was exceptional beautiful views of the bay - drinks and food were awesome! Thank you! Most excellent spicy skinny margaritas and our server was also great - checked in with us several times, friendly and great sense of humor! Can't wait to return.

Yelp
A bit on the pricy side, but the views were beautiful. My husband got the shrimp risotto which was pretty tasty. The House King Salmon was perfectly cooked and satisfied my seafood craving. The farro that it came with was also really nicely prepared and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The chicken flatbread was massive and was easily be shared between my MIL and SIL. Their watermelon margarita was also delicious. Definitely recommend if you're willing to splurge on your meal.

Since it was a beautiful day out in Sausalito, it was hard to get seats outside but we managed to get seats at the bar. We had the crab cakes and it was yummy. As for the mussels and sandwich it hit the spot as both my boyfriend and I were starving. The drinks were good. Yes I would be definitely coming back here again and hopefully this time can grab seats outside to enjoy the view.

Yelp
I always wanted to try this place and finally did it! The interior has nice aesthetic and the foods were tasty. Got some great views towards the water and my husband and I really enjoyed our lunch here. The only thing that was a bit disappointing is that happy hour menu is for only sitting at the bar. Because we wanted to enjoy the waterfront view, we've decided to sit at the table but we had to pay different prices for the oysters because the happy our oyster price was only applied at the bar :( But overall, we had a good time and would probably go back.

Yelp
Our post hike lunch was incredible. The views, the vibes, the vittles... all on point. I wasn't in the mood for a cocktail and went for a craft mocktail which truly sold me on having them again in the future. I sipped it and had a real experience with my meal. I truly enjoyed the attention to detail and recommendations offered by our server as well- truly topped it all off. I can't wait to come and sit right by the window next time!

Yelp
The service was amazing. Our server was attentive and was very helpful catering to my daughter who has celiacs disease and a guest who is dairy free. The food was very good and the location is beautiful. Parking was also very easy.
