My husband first took me here many years ago to celebrate our first anniversary and from then until the pandemic we made the trip multiple times a year. Then the pandemic hit and we had a baby and they went under new management, and since the pandemic restrictions lifted after the sale we've been twice.
The first time, new management said we couldn't sit on the patio because, and I'm totally serious here, our then 3-month old child was not 21 (on a Thursday, mind you, when no one was around and the "tiki bar" wasn't even operating and there was only one other couple at the establishment). The second time was today, when we were treated rudely by a bartender for asking for a red wine that was close to a Pinot noir (which they didn't have). To be so rude that even my companion who walked up toward the end was upset ... that is just too much, all because I asked her to repeat herself because I couldn't make out what she said the first time.
I'm honestly not even sure what to say, we loved coming here and were excited to pick back up. You used to be able to bring your own food, now you can't. The old energy that made this place great, with the high school worker bees checking folks in and the families with dogs and music and pizza, and the sense of being welcome, is just gone. So is the pizza (allegedly the owner required too much money from him to be able to stay and sell pizza, now he is over at three foxes). Even the woman running the oyster business that used to be on site all the time mentioned they are also being priced out and likely won't remain, and still others there lamented how small the crowds are now.
No chocolate lab (iykyk), overly acidic Merlot, huge focus on white wines and refuse to sell Pinot Grigio by the
glass (you apparently must buy a whole bottle now), hateful bartenders.... honestly not sure the point of even going here when there are so many other options that are dog friendly now.
What a shame. End of an era for sure.
