As first comment: the people are very friendly and real there. No fake. They served me a lot of tasters and found out what my favorite beers are. A brewery is usually good if their lagers are good, so I ordered a lager and it was delicious, well balanced and easy drinkable. The atmosphere is rustic and underlines the beer menu. I liked the sour beers (try the Hibiscus sour) too and must say that I even was happy with their IPA selection.

This taphouse stands out as the only spot in town that truly feels local. The staff are consistently courteous, approachable, and knowledgeable, creating an atmosphere that's both welcoming and genuine. It's the kind of place where service still feels personal, a rare thing these days. It would be a real shame to lose that unique, friendly vibe to the growing wave of soulless, cookie-cutter competition. Places like this are worth holding on to. The staff in particular is responsible for the enjoyable experience. Each bartender brings his or her character and makes for an encouraging true sense of community in regular or first time patrons. Despite BHBC being a regional chain, this place shines as an example of letting businesses run based on the unique location and clientele experience of diverse taproom locations. Good beer and a great vibe that doesn’t feel like a corporate headquarters like so many similar options seem to be trending these days.

Google
Love this place!! Awesome atmosphere!! Friendly bartenders! Upscale yet down to earth environment! Great beer! Several different types and flavors of beer! My favorite was “sunny days” ! Really comfortable place to be! The place is huge with lots of tables and a huge bar with the prices clearly displayed above the bar!! Sports on every tv not playing the same thing! Really good live music!! Over all awesome and i would recommend this place to everyone

Needs more sour beer options Update 2024: HOLLY DAZE is really good and I love the cinnamon stick added! I would still like more sour beer options tho! I also don’t think kids should be allowed! LOVE these fall decorations!

Google
Staff was nice however there are no wheelchair accessible tables. All tables and bar are high top. Kind of a bummer they have an amazing ramp that leads up to the stage, but no low top wheelchair accessible tables if anybody in a wheelchair wants to be social and hang out. They have a drop-down at the bar that stares at the wall, but it is used as an accessory table for retail.

Best beer ever! Get the juicy, you won’t be disappointed. It makes everything feel right with the world, lol! Or, treat yourself to a sampler and test a bunch- so many good ones to choose from. It’ll be your favorite brewery too!❤️

Google
Barrel House is a fantastic brewing company that offers a perfect hangout spot for beer lovers. I recently visited the place, and I was impressed with everything from their selection of beers to their atmosphere. One of the things that caught my attention was the cornhole set up in the back. It's an excellent way to pass the time while enjoying some cold beers with friends or colleagues after work. The back area is also spacious and relaxing, making it a perfect spot to unwind and socialize. Their selection of beers is impressive, with a wide variety of choices that cater to different tastes. Whether you prefer a light beer or something more robust, you're bound to find something that suits your taste buds. The staff is knowledgeable about their offerings and can offer recommendations if you're unsure what to try. The atmosphere is also inviting and friendly, making it easy to strike up conversations with other customers or the staff. The music selection is also great, adding to the overall ambiance of the place. Overall, I highly recommend Barrel House for anyone looking for a great place to hangout after work or on weekends. The cornhole set up in the back is an added bonus, and the beers are fantastic. It's a perfect spot to relax, catch up with friends, and enjoy some delicious drinks in a cozy and friendly environment.

Google
Ok, so this place doesn’t serve food but they have food trucks that come by so… guess that’s ok. The beer there is great, so many options! Nice open space there. I’ll definitely go back!!

Yelp
This is a really cool spot to grab a drink. We came here the weekend of Thanksgiving and there was a dj spinning vinyls. The vinyls were also for sale too. I loved the vibe of the music. They do not offer food to purchase, but there are complimentary snacks and water. You can also order from a nearby restaurant and eat your food in the bar. There are menus of local places and some will bring the food to you. I enjoyed a couple hard seltzers and I will definitely return when I am in the area.

Yelp
You can sit yourself wherever you'd like - inside- outside - sidewalk . Good selection of ipa beers. Bartenders are friendly. I was super excited they had hard root beer on tap. Even if you don't like root beer- and more of a beer drinker, I think you would like this. Light, refreshing; doesn't even taste like your drinking alcohol. I guess that could be good or bad at the same time. The live musicians were wonderful; added to the relaxed vibe. ** free pretzels, serve yourself , near the bar *

Yelp
I've been here twice. The first time there was a band and the second time it was earlier in the evening and I sat at the bar. The staff is friendly as well as the patrons. I drank lager both times and it was very good.

Yelp
Surprisingly the best aspects of Barrelhouse are not their beers but their live entertainment and occasional food trucks. Parking isn't the greatest as it's shared with other popular establishments. It's not too hard to find parking in the afternoon but they're packed when musicians start performing. The menus are displayed clearly on the screen and they most notably have a recurring beer slushie. The beers don't rotate often and consist mostly of pale ales and IPAs. The pours are good and most are offered as a taster, pint and growler. I would love to see pitchers being an option as many groups come in but that's not currently on the menu. The service is minimal and I've always had middling interactions. I wouldn't expect too much warmth or fun vibes from the staff. There are occasional food trucks in the back and the options are often tasty. There are also games for kids and adults to participate in alike. Barrelhouse has good music and ambiance on a regular basis although the staff doesn't seem to contribute to the vibes. Hopefully Barrelhouse can join the other breweries in serving pitchers.

Yelp
So this is a cool place, but if you're not a regular don't expect anything special. I come here probably monthly; I appreciate that it is pretty chill and the servers are nice. However, if you are not a REGULAR don't expect any kind of real support or help or treatment. I saw they were advertising Oktoberfest, so for my birthday, I invited my family. I got here at 11 and bought a commemorative boot stein, and drank away. Brought board games to do with my family. I wanted to buy a big stein, but they were saving them for a competition. No problem! I asked the bartender and she said I could buy it IF I did the competition, so I did. So did my brother-in-law, who won! Afterwards, both she and the bearded bartender-supervisor-leader? guy said they couldn't sell it because of another competition, so it's cool. Imagine my surprise to see them selling those steins not fifteen minutes later. So I came and asked to try to get one, and watched as they sold them to regulars they know, shaking hands and laughing. I got to the bar, and they said "sorry, we sold out." I said I was waiting and they kind of shrugged. One nice bartender apologized for the misunderstanding. Anyways I just sucked it up and went to my table, and then choked on sadness as I saw them sell TWO MORE of the steins to people - either regulars or friends of the bartender who got it and handshakes and went off enjoying their big stein I had been desperately trying to buy all day. I guess my review is this: Good beer, chill atmosphere, but if you're not a regular you're not that important. I guess it's fair, just a bummer.

Yelp
What a great beer selection as well as spacious interior. This place has great drink options as well as a good environment for people to bring their kids. It's a relaxing and low key place to be. They occasionally have live music as well. If you're in the area and need a spot for small groups or large groups to hang, this is a good choice. Parking is on the street, so sometimes can be a little chaotic.

Yelp
Cool spot in downtown Visalia. They don't serve food, but allow you to bring in food. They had a food truck the day we went, but the food truck had run out of some items, so we opted to order from a nearby restaurant. Nice to have the option. The space is really big, and there is indoor and outdoor space available. They are very dog friendly, which was great since we were traveling with our dog. Service was fast and friendly, and they had a good number of beers on draft, so there's a little something for everyone. We tried some other local beers at other spots, and this is definitely one of the better breweries in Visalia.

Yelp
We were visiting from out of town and thought we were at BarrelHouse Brewing, which we had read about online. Unfortunately, we were at Stacked, and wow, what a difference a couple of feet make. Once we realized where we were, we moved to Barrelhouse, which was much different with a relaxed atmosphere, an incredible band, Bohareggae, and a really good oatmeal stout. A lot of people, but not too crowded for a Friday night.

Yelp
Making our way home after a long holiday road trip, one of our last stops was in Visalia. Looking for something to do on a Tuesday night after the holidays, my husband and I walked over to barrelhouse brewing with our two dogs from the Airbnb we were staying in. The space itself is quite large with both indoor and outdoor seating. Dogs are allowed both indoors and (obviously) outdoors. The night we were there it was quite crowded so we ended up sitting out on the patio. Unfortunately, they do not have space heaters, which our two large dogs did not mind, but that meant it was a chilly evening for my husband and I. They had a nice variety of beers, ciders, and seltzers on tap. We enjoyed our respective seltzers and dark ales. The service was fast and friendly. Definitely check the spot out if you find yourself in the Visalia downtown area.

Yelp
Cute place! Set up is nice. Good variety of beer. I tried the strawberry blonde they have. Amazing! They had food in the outside area. I didn't try it out, but smelled great. I definitely would recommend & return.
google avatar

Janet S.

Yelp
Great gathering spot with plenty of room inside or outside in the back with tables, for hole and a food truck. I'm a Guinness fan so I had the Oatmeal Stout. Not too heavy, smooth to drink. My nephew opted to have a gathering here rather than having a traditional reception. Good call; casual, fun, joyful and he didn't blow thousands of $$$!

Yelp
Super nice place and friendly, chatty bar staff. We always feel welcome and enjoy grabbing a beer, whether drinking it inside or out. Oh yeah, the pretzels and mustard aren't too shabby either.

Yelp
A great brewery off Main Street Visalia... Amazing tap selection, a little bit of everything for everyone. The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. They actually don't serve food, but had a food cart on the back patio area and they did let us bring in burgers from next door. The brewery is dog friendly on a leash. Even gave our a small biscuit. A must try for good .

Yelp
BarrelHouse is my favorite brewery to visit just not this location. Parking is not great here as it's all on the street and for the ladies I doubt this is someplace I'd want to park at night. We had to park two blocks away on a Monday afternoon. Once your inside it's a typical BarrelHouse styling but this location does have pinball which I haven't seen at the other locations. The beer here is great but service at this location was very poor as it was understaffed and could tell the one guy working was burned out. With one person in front of me it took 15 minutes to get our delicious beverages. If your a BarrelHouse fan like we my order of preference is Paso Robles, Fresno, San Luis Obisbo, and then Visalia. This location has a lot of potential if they could staff it and possibly do something about parking situation.

Yelp
Great local brewery in downtown Visalia. The mango beer slushee is what drew me in. Music was the perfect level for background noise while allowing casual conversation at your table. Lots of great souvenirs to pick from for brewery lovers
google avatar

Marshall M.

Yelp
This is a solid brewery in Visalia. The venue is wide open with a few old school pin ball machines. There is a decent size back patio with corn hole and the string and hook game. There is usually a food truck in the back area. The service is great and the beer is good. Overall, a good place to visit.
google avatar

Miekell T.

Yelp
Love this place. The staff are friendly and enhancing. Food is not served here but! You are allowed to bring in food from another location. This establishment strictly serves beer and beer only. There are vendors that do park in the back and serve food on some nights. The decor feel this place gives is modern local country tavern / barn house / kick back spot. This is a family friendly bar so don't be shocked to see some offspring running around lol. But it's all and good taste and fun. Choose your favorite beer or flight of beers and kick back and enjoy the Barrelhouse Brewery experience. The backyard is cool too :0). I highly recommend! And I will be back!

Yelp
We had an awesome time on our first visit. Had a great Bakersfield type country band playing the beer and other beverages were outstanding. Great food truck outside also. Lively mixed age atmosphere. We enjoyed it a lot.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! We went two times and sat both inside and out in the patio. The IPA and double IPA are great. The first time we ordered sushi from next door. You can bring in food or they have a food truck done night.
google avatar

Katrina S.

Yelp
I mean there's not much to do in Visalia, so with that said unless this place does anything crazy to deserve low stars, which I am not aware of but enlighten me if there's something I should be aware of, I cant see why they would get low stars. The ambiance is great! People of all walks of life meet here. There's games to play, live bands to listen to, and you can bring Frodo adopted from the local dog pound! I basically go to this place for one thing only and that is the Micheladas served with their hazy IPA. Don't expect it to taste exactly like a Mexican michelada, but it's a more robust flavor provided by the hazy IPA that kinda, sorta hides away the Clamato, but still lets it peek through. It's somewhat of an acquired taste, but you acquire it quick if you are a fan of Micheladas! I have not tried any other beer and that's because they mostly serve IPAs and truth is I hate IPAs! I don't do seltzers either, but they have this as an option along with some slushy drinks for the hot summer nights! So if you're driving by town headed to the Sequoias (which by the way is way further than the 35 mins they tell you) or are considering visiting, check it out. They also have locations in Fresno, Paso Robles (the original) and some other places too!

Yelp
Service is good ambiance very relaxing; I'm enjoying a juicy ipa couldn't be in Vasilia and not stopping at Barrel House .

Yelp
Fun place to have a beer. It is very spacious inside with seats in the front if you want to people watch, or in the back patio if you want to eat near the food trucks. There were multiple bartenders available to serve beer. This made it nice to not have to wait/ or hunt a bartender down to get your drink. There was a band playing on Saturday night, nobody dancing, but, it was nice to listen to music while drinking. The bathroom is cute and clean. It has a chic rustic vibe. This would be a fun place for a date, group get together, or girls night. My suggestions: -Mango IPA - try this one if you just like light beers, I don't think I've found a person that DOES'NT like this beer! -Apricot Sour - I think sour beer sucks, but, this one doesn't. It is fruity and tangy. I couldn't drink more than one of these, but, it was nice to throw this one in my drinking rotation. -Beercation - It is definitely not an overpowering pineapple taste. It is subtle and actually pretty light and drinkable. At 8% though...be careful

Yelp
VERY solid beer temple, with plenty of options to drink and welcoming service. We were served by Nick, who's the type of bartender you hope to find when you enter a pub. Always with a genuine smile on his face, Nick was hospitable, helpful, caring and humorous. Good service makes the difference when going out, and Nick surely made an impression on us. I got a flight with the Mango IPA (light and airy, not particularly fruity), the Juicy IPA (much lighter, but still solid), the Strawberry Milkshake IPA (definitely to forget... not a good finish), the Southern Hemisphere Session IPA (very light, but a great summer option; don't get it if you want a beer with a more complex personality) and the Barrel House IPA (by far the most solid option of the bunch). I was able to taste their double IPA as well, and it was good. Overall, you've got to try this place... the space is so cool! They don't serve any food (other than a few mini pretzels with honey mustard), but allow you to bring any food you want. They close at 9p on weekdays. Super recommended.
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
Good atmosphere. No physical menu or QR code for a menu. Menu is only on the front facing screens which, a little inconvenient but not super annoying. No Low ABV or non-alcoholic beverages which kinda sucks since there are so many these days. No Cider either which is what I usually go for. Went when it wasn't too busy, so overall, cool place to chill.
google avatar

Peter L.

Yelp
Ordered takeout in the area and the estimated wait time was an hour (it was a Friday night), so figured I'd check out what's good in Visalia and have a cold one while I waited. I didn't stay around too long, but this is a chill spot to hang over a beer on a Friday night or over the weekend, especially in a small town like Visalia. Lots of options to choose from, but I went with the popular Mango IPA and wasn't disappointed. Cold, crisp, smooth, refreshing... just how I like it. Enjoyed my beer out front and browsed their broad selection of merch, which I would definitely rock. Wish I wasn't so lightweight so that I could try their other beers while I was there, but I'd definitely come back if I ever found myself in Visalia!
google avatar

Derek R.

Yelp
Nice brewery. Unfortunately due to Covid no bands or anything at this time. Beers were good and they do have a trolley car in back that does pizza and some other items. I got a Pilsner and wife got a michelada ipa. Both were fantastic.

Yelp
If I could give negative stars I would. I have never been treated so rudely, disrespectfully or handled so brusquely at any type of establishment. Years ago Stacked and Barrelhouse were friends, apparently not so anymore. I'm not a beer drinker or much of a drinker at all but I buy BH's way overpriced merch and find other ways to bring business and income into this establishment. I made the mistake of bringing a drink over from Stacked, which I've done before with no consequence (they used to have adjoining gates)and was I was rudely and abruptly escorted off of the property. It was ugly, rudely handled, and didn't need to happen. I'm not a drinker or frequent bar attender but my friends wanted to meet for a quick drink on a Friday night. Obviously if I knew I was breaking a rule I wouldn't have done it. I wasn't even trying to be sneaky or hide it because in the past it had been allowed. My friends had all bought drinks and if told why I would have gone right back to Stacked, finished my drink and come back. Instead I was treated like a criminal and led off the property. I don't work at a bar but has common courtesy, respect, and giving people the benefit of the doubt gone completely out the window? If my students break rules knowingly or unknowingly I give them a chance to correct and explain before I bring down the hammer. Great job "policing" a formerly quiet, unobtrusive, and loyal customer who might not love your beverages but appreciated the ambiance and ability to bring friends who enjoyed your beverages. Not so anymore.

Yelp
This place has so much to offer. Large space. Open mic nights. Delicious Beer. Friendly staff. Clean bathrooms and even some pin ball. Overall, nothing bad to say at all. Lastly- the reality is this. Visalia NEEDED this. There is a huge growth in the craft beer and brewery fans within this town so to have such a spot in our own town is pretty cool.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok I'm not a beer drinker, but this place has an awesome sampler . I wld recommend this place if you're a beer drinker. This place is Ginormous

Yelp
Really cool location and interior design! Terrific beers. Coming from Orange County and having visited many breweries in San Diego, sometimes it's hard to find great beer when we travel. BarrelHouse has FANTASTIC beers. Amazing and friendly service from Jazzmine at the bar, thank you!

Yelp
The beer is tasty and cold, the staff is friendly as helpful, the ambience is casual and modern, the merch is appealing. Will be back

Yelp
Delicious beers. Great atmosphere the perfect place on a hot day. Fantastic energy. Helpful staff. One of the must stops in Visalia. I like the stout but even for non beer lovers they have some surprises with their fruit enhanced beers

Yelp
I've been coming here for awhile. It was great until it wasn't. It's as if COVID ruined them. This is a staple for locals in a small town like visalia where there really just isn't much for anyone to do and options are limited. The first terrible experience was when my friends and I tried to stop by after a funeral. I walked in with my mask into an empty building. 2 people saw me and waked away. Finally someone comes out and walks past me and as she does I asked if my friends could come with me out back - where no one was wearing a mask. She yelled "Not without masks on EVERYONE!" Ok but why would you scream that when I obviously have very young children where that's not even recommended? I asked again "even just to walk though the building? Some of these babies can't wear masks and we just want to sit out back." She ignored me and stomped away. Next time most recently my friend and I stopped by after a particularly sad afternoon mand I was told I couldn't be served because my ID wasn't valid - which wasn't true, but the bartender argued with me and as a service industry worker and former bartender myself, I just let it go, shrugged and walked away. They serve my friend, and within 2 minutes the bouncer is snatching the drink out of her hand and scolding her for taking it "outside". I think we lasted maybe another 10 minutes there before he came back again, got in her face, snatched the beer yet again and poured it out in front of her sneering at us that we were being kicked out. At this point I just feel picked on. Can't make this bs up. Things are getting weird and I don't like people up in my space physically intimidating especially by an establishment that is apparently so tight on COVID prevention and social distancing (lol) so we start to walk away. BUT THEN. But then this mf just HAS to yell loudly to the maybe 6 people in the whole establishment "UNDERAGE DRINKING!!!" And looks at us in disgust. Way for minorities to pick on other minorities and spread lies to all of those 6 other randos packing the house but ok. Needless to say these experiences were absolute trash and I'll be avoiding like the plague for business and personal events, or until they follow appropriate social and emotional distancing rules? Y'all I really hate to do this but 3x shame on me.
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
This brewery is very spacious, and has an All-American feel to it. They have some pinball machines inside and a shuffleboard. The walls at the front entrance are made of doors that slide open (like a garage) which allows the good ol' valley air inside, and makes it feel like you're hanging out in a friend's garage. There's an ample amount of IPA options to choose from, and they also sale some of their own mercandise as well (shirts, hats, etc...). Out back, they had a food truck, and there's also a couple of cornhole's set up for anyone looking to toss some bean bags. Restroom was clean, and the staff was friendly. I'll definitly be back next time I'm in town!
google avatar

Ashley N.

Yelp
I came here with my husband and in law's. I'm not a beer drinker but my husband drank the Juicy IPA and enjoyed it. And my mother in law had the Dorado Fuerte (sp) and she really enjoyed that. I drank the cream soda and it was good. They have a ton of space here and it is kid friendly, which is awesome! We ordered pizza from a different place and had it delivered. I love that they allow people bring food in from outside.
google avatar

Rick C.

Yelp
Visalia, you lucky bastards! Barrelhouse had made a solid impression on me since my first sample of their ipa. Their subsequent beers have been improving or, at the very least, maintaining the quality of their original few beers. I popped into this taphouse when I was in Visalia a couple weeks ago and was very impressed with the layout and space. This would be the local hangout if I was close, no doubt. The inside space was massive with a stage which I can only assume hosts live music and other festivities. It was warm when I was there but it appeared that there was a beer garden outside too. The space is slick AF. The beers are enough for me to go but the space seals the deal. Check it out if you are passing through and I guarentee you won't be disappointed. P.s. was surprised to learn they have a pretty extension menu of sours. Not my flav but this was news to me

Yelp
What a fun place! Right in the heart of Main Street with a parking lot right across the street, this place is an absolute must. Live music, free pretzels and lots of friendly people, what more could you ask for? Oh yeah!! a fantastic beer selection! You've got to give this place a try

Laura B.

Yelp
I loved that you offered such a broad range of beer and even slushies! Also, very cool that you have dog merch!

Yelp
Great place, I never would've thought mustard would go so well with pretzels. Great live music

Yelp
Excellent craft beers that rotate regularly, the staff is very friendly and helpful and they have Cornhole in the back!

Yelp
Beer is good but the employees are rude. It was closing time and I understand they want people out. We were a large party and having our last hoo-rah since we were on travel assignment and it was our last night together. During closing time, their demeanor was cold and rude. Like I said, I understand, I get they want people out. But there is a way to let guests know it's closing time, politely. One employee started banging and making obnoxious noises to give us the hint. We went to the front, to the street. We were taking photos and a waitress grabbed a plastic cup, that was quarter filled, out of one of our hands without any explanation and it was pretty rude. She then turned around and spoke to us with attitude and as though we were 3 year olds. She simply had no social skills regarding confrontation. Instead of being professional, she allowed her immaturity to take reign and speak to us with disrespect. I get that they don't want liability and the workers had the interest of the brewery in mind but there were a 100 different ways to notify us and ask for the cup back. Over all, I have to say the employees were rude, unprofessional and it deterred many of us from returning.
google avatar

Luther D.

Yelp
Great Beers and amazing atmosphere! The staff are amazing and the outside food vendors are extremely good.
google avatar

Paul F.

Yelp
This is a communal seating type "Public house" style hipster beer bar. No food items besides some pretzels and mustard. People with dogs inside on an afternoon. Not much to say or experience here from the looks of it and the beers are mediocre run of the mill imho compared to many other California microbrew greats. Perhaps more exciting on a night or with some food?
google avatar

Juan B.

Yelp
Great location and some of the best craft beer in the area, the location is perfect for meeting with a group of people before lunch, dinner, or to hangout out and have a few with friends and a sporting event on the television.

Yelp
New place in town. Super awesome, trendy, and spacious. Beers are all good. No restaurant here, however they bring food in like a truck or food vendor. You can also bring in your own food. Great place to relax and unwind after a hard day.

Yelp
Love the location and atmosphere. Their mango ipa is my favorite and I also like that they'll have local food trucks and food stands there and are also pet friendly!

Yelp
Nice brewery, big open area, good live music. Decent beers. Lots of tvs. Nice bartenders. Good food trucks.

Yelp
One star for the sarcastic message from the manager. This is California. No one is too big to go out of business. We've actually been back a couple times since my first review and still the same result. We even got to hear a band the last time and the acoustics were awful. Couldn't hear the words and the band lead also had this cocky attitude. I suggest going to Kaweah or Rocky Hill Brewing Company for an AMAZING experience. These guys are local, laid back and friendly, without the attitude. GO LOCAL! :)
