​Barrels Burgers & Beer in Stockholm's Old Town is an absolute gem that lives up to its hype. I ordered the BBQ and bacon burger, and I can confidently say it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. The patty was perfectly cooked and the combination of savory bacon and smoky BBQ sauce was simply phenomenal. It’s the kind of burger that leaves a lasting impression and makes you want to come back for more. ​The location in Gamla Stan (Old Town) adds to the whole experience. The historic, cobblestone streets and charming architecture create a perfect backdrop for enjoying a fantastic meal. The atmosphere is both cozy and vibrant, making it an ideal spot to grab a bite while exploring one of Stockholm’s most beautiful neighborhoods. ​If you're a burger lover visiting Stockholm, do yourself a favor and make a stop at Barrels. You won't be disappointed.

Really great burgers. Can recommend stopping by. The smash burger is only to be made 12 of a day? But it seems like a marketing stunt and most people got it while we stayed. The prices are also super fair compared to other restaurants in Stockholm.

Visiting from Vancouver, Canada and honestly this is one of the best burgers I have had in a very very long time. Fresh, appropriately rich, perfectly seasoned, great service and amazing location right in the old city. So good I came twice and brought the whole family with. Second time I got the triple smash burger - it’s a very simple burger focusing on the beer -delicious but if you want more you need to get one of the other burgers.

I tried their spicy chicken sandwich and it was delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked and with all the extra ingredients that fit very well together. Even tho the sauce had made it a bit soggy and it was also not that spicy but the burgers make it a 5 star restaurant.

Excellent for burgers and beers. You can't go wrong with this place for those two things. And good service as well. This restaurant has a partnership with next door Tritonia, which offers craft beers (Otto was great providing good recommendations of food and drinks!). Nice options on the burgers with different combos offering a variety of accompaniments, and you can order them wrapped in lettuce for those that like such option.

I eat here every time I go to Stockholm. The best burgers and the family were all in agreement on that! Nice variety of sauces to choose from for your fries. Staff is friendly and food gets served quick.

Tried the Double Street Burger, mama mia! Smashed patty, melted cheese, flavors perfectly blended. Fries were crispy, seasoned just right. Pure joy in every bite. Service was quick and friendly too. Highly recommend!

The burgers here are excellent, as evidenced by the long line in front of the restaurant. Be prepared to wait a bit for a table. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the food is great. However, there were a few things I didn’t like: the restaurant lacks space, with tables too close together, and the waitstaff seemed overwhelmed, which meant that dirty plates were left on the table until we decided to leave the place. Lastly, the restroom was not clean.

Burgers were tasty. The service was quick and friendly. The beers were amazing like lots of good choices. Would definitely recommend trying this place!

Came here a few days ago and was left satisfied! The food here is very good! Got a cheeseburger and fries for only 99 SEK and a bottle of cider. Both were very very good and the fries were exceptionally tasty! Would recommend if you're looking for somewhat cheap options for dinner while in/near Old Town! Service was very nice, albeit a bit slow considering there were only a few people in the store at the time. They were still nice and respectful, made for a pleasant evening! The ambiance was also very nice, enjoyed the seating and arraignments the restaurant provided!

We were looking for a quick lunch in the Gamla Stan area and someone recommended Barrels to us. The burgers were absolutely fantastic, some of the best I've ever had. The sides were great too, we shared cheese fries and sweet potato fries, which was enough for four people. The place has a nice variety of beers on tap and a relaxed, fun atmosphere.

Our friends just flew in from Portland and we were showing them around this here old town and were looking for some meats! Big meats, little meats, weird meats, new meats. But unfortunately all those meats costs too much and were too adventurous for their tired tastes. Fortunately, we came across Barrels. Top quality meats that meets the desirable tongue of the traveler. By far one of the top tier tastes when it comes to burgers in Stockholm. I've tried everything in the menu and loves the street burger. It's no frills and all skills. When it comes to fries, get some of that garlic aioli and don't waste a drip! Also, they've got a great selection of beers that'll having you feeling chatty like a patty as you obsess over the meal and watch as people pass by. I will say, their classic patty melt is bomb but I've ripped up the corner of my mouth multiple times eating its crispy toasty bread. Will I do it a third time? Probably!

A burger joint that is as good as Shake Shack but with a much better beer list. It is a popular place for tourists and locals so it may take a while to find a seat.

Great place for some nice solid juicy burgers. Cooked fresh to order including hot fries. The burger patties have a surprising peppery taste and goes well with the rest of the accoutrements.

Easily the best burger I've ever had. I got the barrels burger plus bacon with fries. The burger is loaded with pickles and grilled onions. The buns are made in a nearby bakery. Everything tasted so fresh. After eating it all, I did not feel grossly full or groggy. I was well energized and ready for my next adventure. Good prices compared to other places. Service was phenomenal as well. It gets full pretty quick around late lunchtime.

Great dinner in Stockholm! Got the pallumoi burger, cheese fries, and the Nashville chicken. Everything was delicious, but the cheese fries were definitely the star! Easy to get seated on a Monday night and service was good,l. Overall solid start to our Sweden trip.

We have had delicious food on our visit to Stockholm but sometimes you just want a burger. It was tough to snag a table as this place is very popular all day long! They have a great selection of local beers and the burgers were delicious. We tried the original which my daughter demolished and shared the Monthly burger and their triple smash with some fries with truffle mayo. All were juicy, fresh and hearty. Service was attentive and we never felt rushed even when our youngest was taking her time eating and there were clearly others hoping for a table!

The service was great. They were super quick. The burger was simple and delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly. The fries were crispy. Loved the Buffalo Wing the spice was absolutely perfection just the right amount of heat.

The truffle fries were good. Wings fried hard. Now onto the burger. Lots of pepper. Nothing spectacular. Just saying from a USA view, home of the burger eaters, I could live happily if I never eat one again. As we left, at least half of each burger was left on the plate.

good quick service & quality burgers... patties were well-seasoned and cooked to a good temperature, good cheese and bacon on my burger... paired it with buffalo wings and fries, washed it down with a coke- deliciousness.

Visited Barrels on a Friday night, wasn't overly crowded and sat inside of the glass-enclosed outdoor area. There was a DJ playing good music and the staff was very friendly. We ordered wings, fries, and drinks. Enjoyed everything we got, especially the wings. Drinks were great, definitely recommend the cherry mojito. For dessert they didn't have the chocolate burger so we got the strawberry burger per suggestion from our waitress and we loved it. Definitely recommend this to anyone in the area, good prices for Stockholm

We decided to try some burgers. This one was close to our hotel so we popped in. The hamburgers were good, made to our liking. We ordered the basic burgers. Fries accompanied the burgers and were okay.

I was wondering around the neighborhood around 8:30pm and this was one of the few places with people inside so I decided to give it a try. I had a double #1 and a side of French fries with aoli sauce. The food was delicious, the burgers come wrapped in a little paper bag essentially to help keep it all together adding to the casual feel of the place. The fries also had some sort of green seasoning baked into them (thyme, dill?) that was delicious. The service was friendly and helpful despite the restaurant being crowded.

It's juicy, tender, meaty and it's gonna be real messy. It's good. Try the Aioli side dip and go for the sweet potato fries. I enjoyed a radler, which was very refreshing. If it is sunny, take a seat outside.

Two of my friends are in town visiting me from America and where do I take them for their first meal in Sweden? Barrels, duh. Third time there and equally as, if not more, impressed than the first time. The "Burger of the Month" is a Truffle Burger and oh my goodness it is fantastic. Fries are still incredible and the green beans are great as well (I was very pleasantly surprised that they didn't come oversaturated in oil). Glad there are a few downhill streets leading to the tbana, because I refused to leave a crumb on my plate and will now need to barrel roll home.

Louis R loves juicy, savory, well-seasoned burgers. Louis R loves low-key resto/bars where you can chill outside, drink Swedish draft beers, eats your delicious burger and people-watch. Louis R loves noshing on dill chips while socializing with the locals. Louis R loves bars/restos that play the right music at the right time. Louis R loves this spot for said reasons. Be like Louis R, make lots of $alad and travel to Sweden.

Burgers are bigger than ever. The competition is bigger than ever. It's only natural that my expectations are bigger than ever as well. Barrels Burgers smashed them and set the bar so high it touched the stratosphere. The place is quite small and popular which means that there's always a wait to get a table so be sure to be out in good time because you can't book a table, because people love coming here and it's quite obvious why: Barrels Burgers currrently has the juciest and tastiest burgers in Sweden. No doubt. Barrels Burger is going for a slightly more hipster look and feel. You sit on literal barrels and the drinks are very alternative and not corporate, like Fritz Cola instead of Coca Cola. It's very cozy and the focus is without a doubt on countless flavors of beer and a tavern-like atmosphere. But let's talk burgers. Immediately when you receive your burger you can smell and see the juice dripping from it. The cheese melted to perfection and the buns heated and fresh with proper bread taste and nothing cheap about them - and it better not be because these burgers come at a premium price if you compare to standard fast-food joints. But Barrels Burgers is by no means a fast-food joint, it's a premium burger dining experience. The fries were disappointing. Nothing special about them and they were average. The burgers are so good that I preferred to eat two burgers instead of having fries, actually. Add on top of that the place is quite small so it gets very crowded quickly, but during summer you can sit outside to offload some of that, so this place is definitely worth saving for the summer for the ultimate experience outdoor. Hands down the best burgers in Sweden and well worth the wait.

Dill chips - amazing. Burgers - crazy good. Just like Shake Shack but better. Beer - decent selection (get a few more Swedish brews in though!) Music - banging

I have to agree with Kenneth's comment below about the burger patty taste that isn't very inspiring. I had to had a lot of black pepper to somewhat have the best of it. Also I didn't like that the cheese wasn't melted and rather still cold. I like the fries but I rarely met fries I didn't like ;) The place was busy but we got a table quite quickly, the decor is nice, the service prompt... but that beef patty man ; (

Really good burgers for good prices for the high standard. I like that they use meat from sweden. Good fries and dips. Good service. Definetely going there again if im in Stockholm again.

We ate here while visiting from San Francisco. This is the best burger place that we have ever eaten. Phenomenal burgers & French fries. Great beer selection. Our waiter Douglas was fantastic. We loved this place so much that we went TWICE. Located on an adorable & hip cobblestone street in Gamla Stan with both indoor & cute outdoor seating... this place is a must visit! Try the "burgerdude". Yum!!

This was one of the best places we ate on our trip to Stockholm in August 2017. The location is great - right in the middle of everything - and the people watching on the street is fantastic. The servers were super friendly and inquisitive about our trip, and they loved that we - as Americans - thought their burgers were top-notch. And they were! The burgers and fries were delicious, and I had a great rose cider. Highly recommended!

The local light draft beer is a must. The burger was good and the green beans were a convenient excuse for eating healthy - deep-fried, yes, but still green!

Cozy, great burgers and a very sweet charming restaurant. The fries and Burgers are to die for. Well worth it and I got to watch them being made which was cool as it has an open Kitchen. Great Selection of Beers. Definitely and also Stockholm, is so beautiful. One of my favorite cities. Love it here.

I'll preface my review with something that may not seem very important to you, but it plays a huge role in how I rate my burgers. You ready for this? Okay, here goes: I ate here, forgot about it and then came here again because "I've always wanted to try it". This is a big deal because burgers make a very big impression both on my tastebuds and on my heart. There are some amazing burger places in Stockholm, but unfortunately this one doesn't take the top spot. I would recommend it, however, if you're in the area. It's a delicious, satisfying burger. The fries with dill are really tasty, and I enjoyed the aioli and mojo rojo dips. There's also an okay selection of beers (you'd think with their name, they'd have tons more!). You definitely will not be disappointed but don't look for a life changing experience here.

Yes. Want a burger? Go here! This place was recommended to me when I said I wanted to try the best burger in Stockholm. Now, it's the only burger I've had in Stockholm, but I don't need another! I'm American and know my burgers. Is it the best burger on the planet? Well, probably not. I'm not sure who would hold that title. Honestly though, would you expect that? But I plan on going back during the week I'm in the city to get another because it's really good. Really really good. I like simplicity. I got The Original. A cheese burger on toasted bread. My husband says it's a Patty Melt. I hadn't heard that before, but it was delicious (I don't like toppings...I think I'm a burger purist?). Hubs had the Triple Smash and he just was so happy. And he's a picky burger lover. Fries. Wow. I was not expecting dill on the fries, but there it was. I requested mayo with them because apparently my tastes have gone Dutch and I would HIGHLY recommend the dill fries with mayo. It's just perfect. The special fruity sodas were fun, but you have to decide if it's worth the extra money. We each got a burger, split the fries, and got a soda each. Came out to about $44 (of course this fluctuates). Expensive for a burger meal? Yes for most people. But hey, it's Stockholm and we spent more on two salads and two drinks the other day for lunch, so I thought it was reasonable. And, I just want to mention the street it's on. So awesome! There's a gelato store across the street, so save room for that...or try one of the amazing sounding ones the have in the restaurants. I had no room for them, but they sounded great! Our server was amazing, and she definitely helped make the experience! Obviously with 5 stars, I highly recommend this spot!

My go to burger place and from what I've heard the best in all of Sweden. It's usually very crowded and quite noicey, but has a very nice atmosphere. The burgers have very good quality meat and overall are the burgers nicely balanced and with the good quality meat it makes for a very good burger. They also have a nice assortment of beer which is very important according to me. But if you go here I strongly recommend that you ask for the burger be grilled to medium or as close to medium as possible.

Very solid place overall. It has a very cool rustic feel to it when you walk in. They also have chairs made out of barrels. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The kitchen accidentally put cheese on my burger and forgot my fries at first...so our waiter gave me my entire meal for free. The food had great flavors with solid side sauces as well

Pretty good burgers. Well cooked and seasoned. Nice selection of beers. Service is good and the staff is very polite. My friends had some chicken Parmesan sandwich which was very delicious and the leftovers made for excellent hangover food

Restaurant was good- staff was friendly and food was good. However, I think they prey on tourists. When we paid for dinner they asked us to put our passport number and our signature on the credit card receipt. I would advise being careful.

We stopped here because we were starved after checking in our hotel after arriving from the airport. The outside was inviting and it's hard not to take comfort in a place with a big sign that says burgers and beer being an American. I was so hungry I didn't even look at the prices. Little did I know our meal would cost 400 kr ($50). Personally I think it's too pricy for what you get. Maybe I'd pay that for a plate of meatballs at one of the cafes in the square but these were just burgers. What I (we) ordered: No.1 with fries and the Eiffel with fries. A Lingonberry and an Eidleflower (spelling?) lemonade to drink. As far as the taste, it was good but nothing exciting. The meat was juicy and low in fat compared to a restaurant burger in the states. The mustard on the No.1 had horseradish which was a great kick and addition to the burger. The sauce on the Eiffel was just like a ton of mayo, not like an American béarnaise sauce. We were not fans. The fries were well seasoned and well portioned. Hands down my favorite part was the lemonade. It was refreshing and flavorful without being overly sweet. Overall, I've had a lot of better burgers. But living in America, I've had the pleasure of trying a lot of great burgers. This one was good for being in Europe. Comparable to The Habit burger. Not comparable to a quality American restaurant burger. But my bar is set high.

Incredible Burger. So good I went back. If you are an American in Stockholm looking for a taste of home this is the place to be. Plus awesome beer selection including hard to find beers on draft. Also super friendly staff. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!

Probably the best Burger-Shop in Town. Super friendly service, fast orders and hot food. It's not too pricey, but still worth every penny! On a 5 day vacation, we visited Barrels twice. It's that good!

Came here based on reviews and we were not disappointed. We had a party of 5 on a Saturday night, the wait for a table was about 60 minutes. Staff was super friendly and very accommodating from check in to wait and bar staff. They are known for their burgers and although there are other items on the menu you should have a burger. The meat used was fantastic, cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. More than enough food. The fries with chili sauce and cooked greens beans were superb. Prices were reasonable. Be sure and save room for one of each of the desserts as they were both wonderful. Although a little off the beaten path make sure you visit this restaurant.

A pretty damn good burger. Tried this place after some strong recomendations and i cant say they were wrong. Is getting harder and harder to separate different burger joints apart. And although its a tough job, its a job that has to be done. So ill just have to continue dragging my a** around, in my own attempt to make Stockholms burger swamp a better place. But lets cut to the chase, Barrels isnt very big, but as you all may know by now, size doesnt matter. This is lika many other nowdays a restaurant with an open kitchen. Aside from that they have a couple of tables in different sizes spread around the room. When going, you should be prepared to share a table or be very close to another party whenever, so its not the place to discuss company secrets at. On the side in connection to the restaurant, they have a smaller "bar section", where you can go if you dont wanna eat, or if you wanna eat but dont find a seat anywhere else. The seats are definitely a bottle neck here, so prepare for the worst, no seats available. We managed to score two barstools in the restaurant bar facing the kitchen. It wasnt too exciting, but hey, i was here for the burger! Service was attentive although they had quite a lot to do. I went with a double pattied Matador burger with fries which came in a handy box. Burger was tasty and juicy but could have been hotter. I liked their rustic fries, but less was not more in this case, since you pay a substantial price on the side for it. Although i went for the double, i didnt feel totally satisfied, and therefore i went for the dessert. Splitted their two different dessert burgers with my friend so i got to try them both. They were good, although i dont know if they were worth the price. If i would to choose between them two after, i would probably go for the Chocolate Crunch. But our waiter also told us that there was a third option which she always did, to mix them two together. This is definitely worth trying, and the overall impression is very good, but since a lot of customers will be facing the seating issue, they cant have it all!

An overall nice dinner but more expensive than a typical burger joint should be. The restaurant is very popular so expect a short wait during peak times. Luckily they have a bar with a nice beer selection and well informed bartenders, which made the wait go by very quickly. The burgers are very tasty and the fries are crispy and delicious. The portions are reasonable. Expect around $20 for the small burger with fries and about $5 for the tiniest beer known to man.

A burger in Stockholm? All right, I guess, given Barrels Burgers & Beer's fine reviews. We were seated quickly at the big communal table and ordered draft beers, burgers, fries, and haricots vert (for health). The food arrived in short order, and as you would expect from all of the reviews, it was pretty good! The burgers are flat patty style, so you don't give a desired doneness. Mine (the Matador) was cooked appropriately for the style, juicy and salty and satisfying. The serving of fries was smaller than I'm used to as an American, but probably more appropriate for a single individual, and came with a side of aioli for dipping. The haricots verts were salty and crunchy, and while they paled in appeal next to the fries, I munched on them happily. Why not five stars? This isn't a burger I'll dream about, coming from burger mecca (the United States). I don't imagine myself frequenting Barrels Burgers & Beer if it were magically transplanted to Boston. However, for a burger in Stockholm, it exceeded expectations.

-- The location: Situated in Gamla Stan I would have probably just given this a pass, considering all the tourist traps around. However, after reading earlier Yelp reviews, I decided to give this establishment a go while on our visit in beautiful Stockholm. -- The inside: This place was packed on a Tuesday, and the recent rain didn't make matters much better. However, after a couple of minutes wait the friendly waiter showed us to our table. As the name already indicates - you'll sit on either a barrel or bench. The whole place is rather small and they fitted in quite a lot of seating, which makes it cozy and reduces the wait - it might get tricky to get a seat with a larger group though - especially on a busy afternoon. -- The drinks: Of course I had to try their local draft (which was very good), my girlfriend went with a Fritz soda that they serve you together with an empty, chilled glass - nice! -- The staff: Typical Scandinavian - friendly, helpful, and everyone speaks perfect English. After a short time the waiter took our order. -- The food: My girlfriend was surprised to learn that she could have any burger with her vegan patty. She always puts on a brave face when her burger loving boyfriend drags her into the latest burger-craze place and puts up with the standard veggie-patty and fries. To make it quick - she had the Cheeseburger and fries - and loved it. It came with a combination of a ketchup-mustard sauce and the patty was juicy and not at all like your standard veggie patty. I had the double Matador with cheese (in standard medium). It comes with two patties, lettuce, tomato, spicy salami, and a special blend of sauces. Good heavens, this thing is juicy without being sloppy - the bun's texture was just perfect - moist, fluffy, dense and not soggy. The meat? Spot on! Cooked to perfection and this typical beef bite to it, that isn't achieved easily in this combination. The whole thing? A perfect blend. Other places serve you 'medium' and it's well done, so you order medium-rare and it comes out... well done! I trusted this place that they got the meat right and wasn't disappointed. The fries were very good as well, I added a little salt, but that's just me. Yes, they could be a little more generous with the fries - but, hey - this burger makes up for anything! Feel free to help yourself to some condiments - they even have American mustard and Baby Rays BBQ sauce for you to enjoy. -- Overall: Highly recommended, go there if you get the chance and love a good burger and beer. I was wondering how a place could get so many 5-star reviews in a row - now I know!

They have really, really good burgers here, really good burgers. It will cost you, but they have really good burgers. As a bonus they serve good beer, not so many but the breweries vary over time and it's some of the best. Happy times, with outstanding staff!

Good selection of beers and great burgers! Emil and the bartender were especially helpful. One of the more trendier spots in Gamla Stan. No reservations and gets busy but you can grab a beer in the back bar while you wait.

Awesome burger and fries. Stumbled upon this place in the middle of city and we were so happy to have stopped. I absolutely recommend this place to any hungry travelers looking for a good burger. The staff was also friendly, which is always a plus.
