Good vibes, good beer and good people. The atmosphere is laid back without a whole lot of commotion and the friendly staff makes it inviting for all. Not a single bad beer on the menu, but the Barrier Money is my personal favorite!

They serve really great beer. However, there needs to be, I think two changes serve the beer in a cold glass and please fix the air conditioning

One of the friendliest long island breweries! At least from my visit on a hot Sunday with my wife and daughter. Great beer selection too. You probably know the “money” ipa. If you live in the area. Lots of ipa options. Love the hops-naming on all the descriptions. I really enjoyed the Core Ipa. Took a 4-pack home. They also have a food truck here for some decent eats. And a backyard picnic area with corn-hole on non-90 degree days.

Husband loved the beers and bought a bunch to take home. No step to enter. Large gender neutral ADA restroom.

Google
My introduction to Barrier Brewing came through Tavour, which sparked my curiosity enough to visit the brewery in person. The opportunity arose when I was in the area with friends and family, and naturally, we seized the chance to explore their offerings. Our group of eight was treated to an impressive selection of beer, with a focus on hazy IPAs but also including stouts, red ales, and pilsners. The highlight of the night was a remarkable IPA called "Never Let Me Down," a collab with Sand City that lived up to its name. Double dry-hopped with a generous mix of Citra, Mosaic, Columbus, and Motueka hops, it stood out as my personal favorite. Alongside our beers, we enjoyed Firehouse BBQ, which only enhanced the experience.

Google
Very cool decor. Friendly, attentive bartender, very chill. Beware physical danger: I've seen skateboards placed between barstools before and one shot across the floor through the bar when someone got up. Crowd seems varied in age. Art for sale, legit brewery with plenty of unique stuff on tap.

Google
One of the best small breweries in town, friendly service. Had a local restaurant catering their food which was amazing. The flights were half off which was awesome, 2 flights of beers and 2 pints were 28$ the food was 18$ so a night out with beers and great food was under 50$

Google
Very cool environment there. There’s a bar, the brewery section, and an outdoor area. Saw Dysfunktone play there the other night for their Album release and it was awesome. Acoustics in the Brewery were great and I would definitely come back if that band was playing there again! Great entertainment! Tried a flight of 5 beers on tap. Prices are very reasonable for the area. There were a few decent beers but didn’t love some of them. They have good popcorn you can refill for free there too!

Still the champ on Long Island, Helpful bar tender who guides us to buy choices to go

Yelp
I went to Barrier Brewing Company the other day to attend the Wise Mind Open Mic (https://www.instagram.com/wisemindopenmic/). Coincidently, it was held the same night as the Yankees game, though luckily they had it playing in the main bar room... score! I was able to watch and listen to music at pretty much the same time. While I don't drink alcohol, I was elated to be able to order me their non-alcoholic brew. It was light, delicious, and quite hoppy! The show here was held inside their brew room! It was so cool performing and listening amongst all their giant machinery... truly a unique and mesmerizing experience!

Yelp
The staff is always nice and the beers are really good !! Kid and pet friendly as well !

Yelp
Not the best. Not the worst. The parking is a big issue. I wouldn't come back based on that alone. There might be 4-5 legal parking spaces. Everywhere else is private property or no parking zone. I heard they do tow so it's a dicey game to play. Loved that it was a family friendly, pup approved place. It was nice they had a Swell Taco food truck but sadly, I wasn't overly impressed by that either. It was good but I felt Taco Bell offered more flavor. Also, the churros were stale and hard to eat. I did also enjoy the live music. The service was standard. All in all just okay.

Yelp
Money is a great tasting IPA! Fun spot to hang out and try different beers. Good bbq from the food truck.
google avatar

Yelp
Small craft brewery kinda tucked away down a side road, but it packs a punch! Great selection of beers with some good seasonal options too. As some reviewers have pointed out it's primarily IPAs so if those aren't your thing, you might want to scan the menu before you head over... but the beer is good, and the food stand outside has some good options if you're looking for a quick nosh.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
First time here. Parking is a little tough for even a Wednesday night. Inside was bigger than expected. Beer flights are a great way to try different beers before committing to a full size. I had Juice. Loved it. I would highly recommend that one. It was pretty pretty chill inside. They have a food truck outside it just wasn't open when we went durning the week.
google avatar

Cecilia R.

Yelp
What a great neighborhood find! Beers are delicious, good prices and the food truck has delicious food. A place for the kids to run around outside.
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
Really great brewery that's a perfect local business to support. They provide a huge variety of in house drinks that range in types, from light beers, to IPAs, even to ciders and teas. The venue is a lot of fun: it has a back room for private events, a foot truck out front, and an outdoor game section with cornhole, kan jam, etc. The staff are all high... which is fine, but don't expect top tier service. If you can get past that, it's a great place to hang with friends or host an event.
google avatar

Jun T.

Yelp
If you like IPA's, a good vibe in a safe environment, awesome music and great staff to serve you...come to Barrier Brewery! Their beers are outstanding and they even have a food truck so that you can have some food while you indulge. My go to server there is Erick...he's simply such a jolly, friendly and just overall a good guy! But everyone that works there is freaking kool!
google avatar

Courtney D.

Yelp
What a great place in an odd location! We've been wanting to come here for awhile and popped in during the week when we had off one day. The staff was awesome as we rolled up with our dog and 1.5 year old! They were super nice and the indoors and outdoors is great! We enjoyed a few beer flight tastings, which is always fun. Food wise the truck wasn't open yet so they let us order delivery which was nice. We def will be back soon!

Yelp
Visit Dates: March 17, 2022 and July 29, 2022 I visited this brewery twice with my friend who drinks beers, I am sober so I just tagged along. One time we came on St. Patrick's day after I actually got out of work at 5 on a Thursday night instead of 9 and the most recent time we came with my son. St. Patrick's day was nice, I was without the kid (even though I do have fun when I'm with my son) I got to relax with an iced tea actually talk to my friend. We shared the best tortilla chips and salsa. The tortilla chip/ salsa combo was only $5 and the tortilla chips were split like strips instead of chips and made salsa dipping so much easier. Both times my friend seemed to enjoy the beers he picked to drink. On the 29th I got to meet an art collective that was hanging outside the brewery for a few hours which was pretty cool. My friend had bought art work from one of the collective members. I spent $15 on a pretzel and a soda for my son and might as well have shredded $7 of those dollars because he didn't finish the pretzel or the soda but sometimes that is parenthood, certain times when you might as well have shredded a couple of dollars. I do appreciate breweries even though I don't drink. It's a place I can come to for music or art collectives or to hang with people who are drinking. I can bring my son during the warmer weather months for some music. Dogs are allowed and both my son and I like to pet the dogs so that's a plus too.

Yelp
Great spot! Fun vibe and great beers. Definitely worth checking out. Try the flights for sure. They have a food truck on deck too, which is great.

Yelp
Worth the adventure! Don't bring the Aventador, take the Bentayga instead and plan for a wash the next day. Roads are dirty, with a lot of commercial traffic during the day. I get my BMW serviced a few hundred feet from this place. Very interesting choice of beers. Nice atmosphere, like drinking in a really nice garage where your hands stay clean...until you got into the ribs. They added lactose to several of their current beers which adds a milkshake like texture. I did not particularly like them but appreciate the artistry and finished all my pint or chalice "samplers". Let's be honest, The only flights I get are at LaGuardia and JFK. The finest beverage aka the one with the highest %ABV@9.4, was surefire to get my motor running (despite the lactose I would still start off with another on my next trip). I was excited for one option that had hogaarden vibes but whatever they added didn't do it for me. Still, a damn good beer. I do not drink flavored beer but there were about three pumpkin/berry infused options. I found one beer by the end of my stay that was good for me. There is a BBQ truck outside that has amazing sliders, ribs, and great French fries. Damn good BBQ. Service wise, the girls huddled at furthest end of bar, where I'm guessing the ownership, entourage or daily entities were drinking. I always had the same bartender despite several bartenders passing me with an empty glass on too many occasions. The place was very clean by bar standards. Good air quality. Nice bathrooms. I shall return, but I will hit a few different spots before coming back. The "barstools" should be considered for replacement. I have the same ones at home, they are cheap and uncomfortable. My sciatica hates them as I have no ass padding. Parking is also funky, like I said, Take the Bentley.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a very nice spot to hit for a few drinks - if you can find a parking spot there on a Saturday night. The tasting room is on the small side, with limited seating. The customer service is fine. It's a crowded tap room, it's what you would expect. Plus the bartenders are gentlemanly enough to give you their own preferences and explanations. I loved the Half & Half Coffee Stout and even took some home with me. The rest of the selection is good. I'll be back if I'm in the area and can use a quick local beer to go.
google avatar

Yelp
Okay brewery that Steve and I had several beers from. Unfortunately for me they weren't the most memorable beers I've had but fun enough to drink. One that does stick more in my mind in a favorable way was their Hall of Truth IPA. It was fairly decent. I just don't think their beer style was quite for me as I'm looking for very bready or highly experimental beer recipes which I felt I didn't quite find here.
google avatar

George B.

Yelp
Barrier is always a fun place to visit so I hope I will be to do so again soon. My first time the tap menu was uncharacteristically IPA heavy but the second time around they had a nice variety. I bought a mystery 4 pack for $14 because I am a sucker for that kind of thing. The milkshake IPA was my highlight along with a nitro milk stout. Parking can be rough but persevere and you will find something within a reasonable distance. If you are lucky there will be free popcorn available! One last note, I chuckled at the bathroom sign, "just wash your hands." Yea just do it!
google avatar

Mary C. S.

Yelp
Friendly brewery with nice selection of beers. It's an amazing story of how they were able to rebuild after the hurricane. The server was very helpful in describing the beers on tap and identifying those available in can that we might like to take home with us. And, they had the cleanest bathroom I've ever seen in a brewery!
google avatar

Lee M.

Yelp
I was kind of annoyed waiting forever to order a flight with my son, but in retrospect, this should be expected on a can release weekend. Can customers definitely had preference, and I probably shouldn't have burdened with flights. I'm that kind of guy that orders a muddled cocktail when the bar is 4 rows deep! But the anticipation was worth it. We both had flights. I as partial to the Kickin Knowledge and Heavy is the Crown ( took this home in cans). Tried the Psilly Rabbit- funky colors, changing with the light, creamy and smooth - a little too tame for me but a nice interpretation of the style. Pro-tip - food truck calzone was off the charts, garlic knots best I've had, thankfully had them as I was on my fifth pour. Don't expect to really savor the brews after eating them. Not sure garlic beer is the next fad!
google avatar

Aleksandra E.

Yelp
We had been here on two occasions: before COvID and after. Both times we enjoyed their beer menu, which had a wide variety from light to dark to fruity, which makes it even better cause everyone can find something they like. The staff is always friendly and in point with service. During this time, they rearrange there outside parking to a sitting area; the van with food is still there, which has a pretty decent chicken quesadilla. We tried beyond meat slider, which surprisingly good and hard to differentiate from regular meat. I am coming back if I am in the area.

Yelp
Barrier Brewing Co. is the collaborative effort of brewers Evan Klein and Craig Frymark, located in Oceanside, NY. Brewing their first batches on a 1bbl system (2 kegs at a time!) in June 2010, the two expanded the business to a 5bbl brewhouse in June 2012 which operated for four short months before being severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. After several months of rebuilding, Barrier reopened in late-February 2013. The brewery currently produces nearly 50 different beers throughout the year totaling 1500bbl annually, all of which is self-distributed throughout the NY metro area. Food: They don't serve food but they have different and great food trucks rotating there. It's in the industrial section of Oceanside so plan your eating options ahead of time. Brew: They have some amazing craft beer on rotation there like : Evil Giant IPA, Lights Out Stout, GreenRoom Pale Ale, Beech St. Wheat, Belgian1, Bulkhead Red, Rembrandt Porter, Dubbel Down, Cycle Saison, Cairn Scotch Ale, Antagonist ESB, Barnacle Brown, Dunegrass DIPA, Simple Lager, and many many more. My favorite is Tanto, American style IPA brewed with ID007, Motueka, Citra and Chinook - Bold and delicious.

Mala L.

Yelp
Cool little brewery in Oceanside. Beers are good, but selection is very IPA heavy. Everything is super cheap. $5 flights on Wednesdays. There are a few tables, bar seating, and standing room. Although, I feel like they could make better use of the space in terms of communal tables. Barrier doesn't do food, but there's a food truck outside which I think rotates? Everything that I've ever gotten from the food truck has been A M A Z I N G. The parking situation is disastrous and confusing but once you find a spot and head inside, it's an awesome no frills place to just chill. Also, there's a rumor that Barrier is cash only, but they do indeed accept credit cards.

Yelp
One of my obligatory stops on my way out to Long Beach. Great beers and a cosy taproom. Never disappoints.

Yelp
I've been visiting breweries all over the state, and this is one of my favorites for value, quality, and atmosphere. And it's not just because I went to high school in this town. The brewery is in an industrial neighborhood, right over the railroad tracks. There's plenty of street parking. It's about average sized, with the production happening in the back, a long bar, high tops, and unisex bathrooms. It's very dog friendly and we were greeted right away by Kiwi. There are dog treats at the end of the bar, near a free popcorn machine (Old Bay Seasoning is available). They're even making a "dogs of Barrier" calendar! They had about ten beers to choose from, 5 of which were IPAs. We were there on a Wednesday, when they have an incredible deal: a flight of 5 tastings (about 3 ounces each) for $5! You write your selections on the back of a numbered business card. I was impressed by a hoppy Pilsner (I don't usually go for those), but my favorites were Tanto (a grapefruity IPA) and Money (their most popular beer). The bartender was helpful and friendly, even letting me borrow a phone charger. The crowd was happy and mixed, young people, middle aged, and some older folks. They fill growlers and sell cans. I'm regretting that I didn't stock up, but it's just an excuse to stop by again. My only wish is for a stout or porter to round out the tasting.

Yelp
Ain't nothing like barrier and classic cars man. Service is always friendly and just gentlemen.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
Great little place. Sort of hole in the wall vibe but definitely elevated - NOT a hole. Clean large bathrooms. The staff are super friendly and personable. Went to a pop up event they had there. But will totally drop by when back in the area. I REALLY ENJOYED their house made hard seltzer. Delicious! Reasonably priced - and again fab service! They just need some non alcoholic beers and then I can bring everyone I know!
google avatar

Bridget M.

Yelp
Barrier is one of my go to breweries. They regularly have new beers on tap and they do flights so trying new beers is ideal. They also have permanent food truck on site called 3rd rail, plus other guest food trucks throughout the week. Big fan!
google avatar

Dan S.

Yelp
Beers were great. Went for half price flights on a Wednesday night. Unfortunately we missed the oysters. But the service was great and the atmosphere inside was great vibes.

Yelp
Visited the Barrier my 2nd time last night!!!! The atmosphere was awesome and they got LIVE music going on I tried their Legal Tender (IPA) & the Imposter (Pilsner), they were both excellent The service was great as well, got to meet (Red) Robyn that works in the tap room; what an outstanding employee Overall I had a great time and will definitely bring friends with me next time!!!!

Yelp
There aren't too many breweries on the island that are available in Nassau County, but Barrier proudly falls into this category with a tiny spot in Oceanside. This pas Friday was my second stop in here, first time as a Yelper. Parking is a bit sporadic as Barrier sits in an odd corner next to the train tracks, but I'll rarely ever fault a place for not having a place to park. Finding it can be interesting, but the bright yellow building helps draw your attention like a thirsty beer-drinking moth to a light (maybe?). Enter and you'll definitely get a laid back feel as the tap room here is low lit with some bar space, a few four-person tables, and a right angle of countertop all with a woody finish. Slight turnoff were the threatening notes in the bathroom about not writing on the walls, but it's understandable to not want your taproom defaced. I was with three other chums and 3/4 of us chose to do flights ($10 for 5 tastes) to spread the love of options. Can't say I felt like the variety was great as the choices hindered heavily on hops, IPAs, and pilsners (which I'm all fine with), but they delivered well as a whole. Went with the Hop Damn! (Milder on the bitterness despite the name, but good quality on taste ), Beech St (a simple Belgian style), Frau Blücher (great name and an incredibly interesting, smokey flavor), Rotationer with Glacier (nothing too memorable), and Suburb (more IPA here with some decent, hop notes). Overall, Barrier knows what they're doing beer-wise (even if their variety is a bit hoppy). They may not be one of my top LI beer stops, but being one of those rare few Nassau breweries, I'm sure I'll return again.
google avatar

Travis S.

Yelp
Haven't been since they did the renovation but they did a fantastic job! Very cool and chill atmosphere with great music. Nice outside patio for outdoor seating. Barriers beers are always good / great. I've only had one or 2 in all the years that may have just not been for me but overall outstanding! The service is fantastic, they are always very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend stopping in here for a a great beer to stay or to go!

Yelp
Definitely one of our favorite breweries on the Island. Tucked away down a long road running alongside the LIRR tracks is Barrier. It's a big yellow building so it's hard to missing. As others have said, parking is tricky but you can park along the shoulder until 8PM. Parking is restricted from 8PM-3AM but since we're fans of day drinking we've never encountered this issue. The tasting room is on the small side but everyone is friendly and dogs are allowed so it becomes a nice environment to spend a few hours. They also usually have a food truck outside on weekends AND you can bring food into the tasting room (the bartender even gave us paper plates ans napkins to use). There is also a popcorn machine in case you just need a snack. They have quite the variety of beers here but most are IPAs. Somehow we managed to do a flight of 5 for $12 with only one IPA included. Our favorite was hands down the coffee beer that is considered experimental, meaning all feedback makes its way to the brewers. You cannot purchase it in cans just yet but you can get a healthy pour of it. It's dangerous. 9.8% and it tastes ONLY like iced coffee. Another favorite was the beer they did as a compilation with Oyster Bay Brewery, that was another dark beer that was very tasty. My boyfriend really enjoyed their amber ale which had a beautiful color and a smooth taste. Our bartender Katie was amazing. She took great care of not only us but all her other customers seated at the bar. She made conversation, explained different beers, and was just a joy to be around. It's always pleasant when a bartender knows their stuff but is also super friendly. Bathroom is clean and has a funny sign on it. Tons of neat artwork hangs on the walls. The music is pretty great with a lot of 90s alternative playing. Beers are cheap, flights are a great way to get a general idea of what you like and dislike. I can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
As other reviews mentioned, Barrier is off the beaten path. It is located in an industrial area of Oceanside next to the Long Beach Branch of LIRR. If you use a GPS app like I did (Waze in my case) you will have no trouble locating the brewery. Apparently a lot of other people didn't have any trouble either because this place was pumping! Wednesdays are a great night to go with discounts of growler fills and half price flights. For the flights, you write down 5 beer choices the bartender serves up on a paddle. On my first visit I went with the Fette Bray, Money, Evil Giant, Oktoberfest and Barnacle. All were great choices Evil Giant and Barnacle being standouts! I was hoping to try the nitro they sometimes have on tap, but unfortunately not on this occasion - more of an incentive to return. There is a nice bar and high tops around for seating. Some nice art work on the wall (it's for sale). The crowd is a good mix of friendly people and even a dog or two (they allow pets). If you get hungry Poseidon Kitchen has a food truck parked outside - step outside and place your order when it is ready they will bring it in to you! Get the fish tacos and thank me later! The brewery and kitchen is CASH ONLY - plan accordingly! Its an impressive place to bring a beer drinking friend especially if they never been here because they are going to look at you and ask - How the hell did you find this place? Then they are going to sample some beers and ask - Why didn't you bring me here sooner!? Instant beer drinker street cred!

Yelp
Went down on a Wednesday night to take advantage of the 5 dollar fights on the recommendation of friend Mike S. Good choice as Lee M and I enjoyed 5 picked each. A rye IPA, Nitro Stout, some lagers. All very admirable. Garage like setting with metal stools and high top wood tables. We were lucky to snag a table from some guys who were leaving " sorry to see you go.... Not " !!!! Free fresh popped corn with shaker of Old Bay next to it. Guy standing behind me asked " what's Old Bay ?? Really ? Are you from Mars ?? Queens he says. Go figure. Loved seeing the customers' furry friends sniffing around and keeping the floor free of that messy popcorn. Food truck outside with burgers, fries extra. We each had a fish taco, an ample, fresh out of the fryer bundle of love. Sorry that it's just so far or we would be frequent visitors for sure. CASH ONLY !!

Yelp
Great beer. Big outdoor space. When it's not Covid they have the $6 beer flights on wednesdays which is always brings me back. There's always a good cart out front which is good. Only thing is I wish they would do brewery tours at some point!
google avatar

Yelp
I have had their beers before, and have never really been disappointed. I could sit here and talk about their lineup, but thats not why I'm writing this review. I have a kegerator at home, and due to the pandemic, my distributor cannot get kegs, with the reasoning of "the breweries are only selling to bars". I figured, that may be true for MillerCoors, InBev, etc, but not for the "little guys". My first thought was to call Barrier, and they did in fact have kegs of their beers available. She listed them all, asked her for something light and sessionable, and she recommended the Skinny Elephant American Pilsner. I asked her to hold it, and there was no problem, since I'm 20 min away. The keg wasn't unreasonably priced, a sixtel for $100, and although i had to pay a 100% deposit (another $100), i didn't mind all that much. It's just a deposit, after all. Since the kegerator lives outside for summer poolside shenanigans, the Skinny Elephant American Pilsner fits the bill. Low alcohol and incredibly drinkable, it probably won't last this holiday weekend. Might even keep getting it in place of the cheap Miller Lite kegs i usually stock it with. I called back to the brewery to ask them about CO2 settings, and although the guy didn't find a brewer to ask, he went down to their refrigerator and checked their own pressure. I don't have an opinion on the tasting area yet, but will definitely be visiting with my girlfriend sooner rather than later! Thanks Barrier for being there! Looking forward to giving y'all more support in the future!

Yelp
Love this place! Such a nice little spot to have some local beers. Our group of 4 (plus kids) were the only ones here at 12:30 on a Sunday. The guys behind the counter were super friendly and answered every question I had. They had a great selection on tap and in cans. There's plenty of seating inside and lots of room around the bar to hang out. They also have three picnic tables outside which is where we stayed since we had kids with us. The food truck on property is awesome! Really delicious bbq (get the pulled pork loaded tots and the brisket egg rolls) for pretty cheap. Free water and popcorn and a few games to play in a basket by the front door. I can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
The beer here is great! That's about it. I think they have a great selection of beer and most of their beers are great!! The location is horrible, the parking situation is horrible. The place stunk, the smell was so bad, I was grossed out. I went on a hot Saturday afternoon, they did not have AC, not even a fan, I was wondering why no one would turn a fan on. Inside the brewery it was very dirty, doesn't seem like the owner/ staff care much about the cleanliness of the brewery. The staff members weren't very nice, they were not at all rude, just not inviting. I left after one beer because I was honestly just so grossed out being there, it was the most disgusting brewery I have ever been to. The beer is great, but I will never go back if it's in those same conditions. I was so excited to go this weekend, It was a 55 min drive to get here, I can say it was not worth it. Sorry :/

Yelp
Gold standard of Long Island craft breweries. Best there is.

Yelp
This is based mainly on the beers offered at Barrier, because it was a while ago that I went. I don't remember anything particularly bad happening here, and I remember having a good time. I had the Copernicus cream ale, which was my favorite, followed by the Imposter Pilsner. Then Le Pete and MooChelle Milk Stout, and finally the Rembrandt Porter, in that order. The food truck outside was good, I only got fries, but they were a great compliment to the beers.
google avatar

Carl C.

Yelp
The interior is as basic as you can get but, you come here for the beer. Today there are ten different types of beer available I count twelve taps so on another day there could be more. Wednesday is the day to go with half priced beer flights, five 5 ounce samples for $5 instead of $10, along with $3 off 64 ounce growler fills. Thursday is free hot dog day has ended and been replaced with 2 select 10 ounce drafts for $4. I tried all of the beer that they had, all were fair to good. The one warning that I have would be for "Boon's Brew" it is a hot spicy beer made for a Thai restaurant in Manhattan, it burned my throat and I chose not to finish it. If you are in the area, stop by.

Yelp
Awesome little brewery tucked away in an industrial park across the train tracks. Finding this place is a challenge (even with the assistance of Google), as you have to hang a rather sharp cutback turn if you are coming from the Long Beach area. Parking is ambiguous to say the least -- you kind of just pull off the road onto the shoulder. That being said, once inside you are in for a treat. These guys serve up some of the best beer on the island and do so in a venue that is warm and inviting. The space is no frills: they really just converted a warehouse into their base of operations and stuck a tasting room on front. Fine by me. The exposed wood beams and lighting run through cast iron piping provide an awesome industrial feel (appropriate for being, you know, in an industrial park). The beer is delicious, though they do predominately produce IPAs (~70% of the menu). If this is your first time, invest in getting a flight or two: 5 healthy (5 oz.) servings for a great price ($10 normally, discounted to $5 on Wednesdays). If you want to go straight to a pint, the Money IPA is always a crowd pleaser. A recommendation to the brewmasters would to have a stout or porter on tap more regularly; I have a bunch of friends who are not huge IPA drinkers, so it is hard to find something on the menu for them at points. They have a rotating food truck outside to provide food options. Every time we have been there, the pizza truck had been present. Seriously yummy and highly recommended. Oh, and they have complimentary popcorn. Always a plus.

Yelp
PHENOMENAL PRICES HOME OF BEST IPA ON LI $MONEY$ Two roads diverged into something. If you're on some sketchy access road off Atlantic Ave.. you're in the right place. Look for the yellow brick building, that's Barrier! CASH ONLY So, like, Wednesdays are awesome :) -$5 Flights -bring your own vinyl YEA IK RIGHT!? -discount growler fills POSEIDON FOOD TRUCK OUTSIDE FTW -Fish tacos. Agree with Josh, their variety IS hop focused, but Barrier does great with all their beers, like Angela said, no more trekking out to Suffolk, we have this Oceanside gem - YES rep Nassau! Recommended: Money IPA, Daddy Warbucks IIPA, Atypical IPA, Mars Zen Octoberfest, SS Cream Ale, Suburb IPA, Icculus Kolsch

Yelp
Barrier Brewing Company is another terrific addition to the Long Island family of breweries. Located conveniently near the East Rockaway train station just off Atlantic Avenue, Barrier offers an assortment of beers with a particular specialty when it comes to Pale Ales and IPAs. Josh G. had been telling me about this brewery for a while, so I was very excited to venture down here the other evening with him as my guide. So here comes the only negative about this place: the parking. Especially when it's crowded (like it was the night that we went here), parking here can be tight. They have two small lots that can accommodate about 5 cars each, and limited street parking with some parking restrictions in the evening. Carpooling is definitely recommended! Other than that, the place is terrific! The brewery offers plenty of seating (we had no trouble getting a seat at the bar in fact) and the typical mix of beer on tap and salty snacks to satisfy those bar food cravings. What's the best part about Barrier? The beer of course! For a meager $3-$5, you can get 10oz of any beer on tap, which is an absolute steal! You can also order 32oz for $7-$12 or 64oz for $12-$22. And not only are the prices right, but the beer is delicious! I sampled a sip of Josh's Greenroom and then ordered the Frau Blücher for myself (I was mildly disappointed not to hear horses neighing after placing my order, for those Young Frankenstein fans who might get that reference, but the beer was worth the order regardless). Both were delicious. Although I didn't get the opportunity to sample many more, I am certainly excited to venture back here for more. Also the service here is great! Bartenders are both friendly and efficient, and will gladly offer helpful recommendations based on your beer preferences. The bartender serving us made a great suggestion for Josh G, who I know was pleased with the recommended item. I will be sure to update my review next time I journey back for more, but for now I give this place a solid 5 stars!

Yelp
Came here last night with my wife. The beer is fresh and the prices are solid. They have rotating food trucks. Last night we had corn fritters and soft pretzel 'pillows' with beer cheese. Bar tenders were attentive and quick to serve. They seem to have specials each day they are open. On Thursdays they have a free raffle (you get a ticket with every beer you order) and they have 2 for $4 beers. We cannot wait to go back! Only downsides: 1) parking can be an issue 2) although the beer is priced well, they are only 10 ounce pours 3) a LOT of IPAs and pale ales, would like more of a variety

Yelp
Very fun little brewery to check out. Cool industrial vibe inside. Beer selection had a lot of IPAs the day I was here. Prices on the beer were cheap cheap cheap, especially compared to going to a bar. $4 for a glass etc. Get yourself a flight for $10 so you can try 5 different beers. They have a food truck outside that you can order from. Ordered a fish taco ($5). The taco came with a huge piece of fried cod, biggest fish taco ever! Delicious slaw on-top and tender crispy fish inside. Fish could have used a pinch of salt and it would've been perfect. Everyone loved their food from the fries, burgers and shrimp po boy. They have games to play like jenga, cards, apples to apples etc. Minus a star for waiting at the bar forever while the bartenders kept serving other people who came after me as I was patiently waiting (annoying). It also gets soooo hot inside, would be nice to have a.c or more fans, you will sweat!

Yelp
Thought it would be nice to hit a local brewery after spending the afternoon on the beach. Found this place through Yelp and was really excited about trying it due to all the rave reviews. Little did I know that it would be the worst brewery I've ever been to: The beers: obviously weighting this category above all else. There were 11 options on the board on tap, and you can pick 5 for a flight ($10). I'm a huge fan of IPAs and was excited that they had a few listed. They also had a pale lager, an extra pale ale, etc. I was excited to try all of them and see the differences between so many pale ales. My two friends and I had some overlap in our selections but tried almost all of them. I kid you not, my board could have had 5 identical beers on it and I would not have known the difference. They all looked and tasted EXACTLY the same: like a very mediocre IPA. The only one we tried that had any apparent taste difference was a nitro brew that looked like Guinness and tasted like charcoal. I can't even tell you which of my 5 was my favorite because there was no difference between them. Awful. Growlers were cheap but you couldn't have paid me to get one. Service: slow and the "bartenders" were not exceedingly friendly or helpful. All seats were full so we stood for our tasting. Food: we split an order of the cheese fries, which were fine but nothing special. The free popcorn was a nice touch, which was really the only redeeming quality of the place. Also, the place's location is a nightmare, very difficult to find and limited parking. I've never awarded one star to a place before and thought the day might never come. Congrats barrier brewing co for being my first.

Yelp
Barrier has ten beers on draft featuring with a focus on IPAs and in-season beers. The prices are the best I've seen anywhere for craft beers. A glass of beer costs $3 or $4 depending on the style. I shared a flight. Two of my most memorable beers were the Uncle Boon's Brew and the Frau Blücher. The former was a Thai style chile beer which was the spiciest beer I've tried. As a fan of spicy peppers, I'll definitely be looking for more chile beers. The latter was a smokey German beer which had a bacon like flavor. Barrier also serves food and has entertainment on certain days. There was some live music on the Sunday that I visited. Parking around the brewery is available yet disorganized.

Yelp
Went here on a nasty rainy night so it took forever to get there with the nyc traffic but boy it was worth it. The staff was super friendly and the beers were top notch. Had a little food truck which was great cause we were starving. I'm definitely coming back my next time in nyc.
