Inside the Construction at Gavin Kaysen’s Newest Restaurant | Eater Twin Cities

"Formerly occupying the building that will become Demi, the Barrington Hall coffee company left behind relics that have been unearthed as walls came down during renovations; these discoveries are something Gavin Kaysen enjoys geeking out about as the space is transformed from utilitarian warehouse use." - Joy Summers

Google
I had their coffee in a cafe in Cambridge and started mail ordering it regularly several years ago. The roasts are always great. They have a wide variety with smaller lots rotating through regularly. Because the tasting notes describing each variety are so good, I have never gotten a coffee I did not like! BRC offers beans from all over the world so my understanding of coffee has gone way up ordering from them.

Google
Ridiculously awesome coffee. The staff is even better! Nice place to visit, not a "cafe" but they have a carafe of fresh coffee for a free cup. They also have a small selection of coffee related goods.

Very nice staff!

I first encountered Barrington pre-pandemic at their small shops in Boston. The coffee was great. I now order regularly, my favorite blend being Vienna. Recently, I submitted an order a little late on a roast day and asked if they could sneak it in. Christina responded immediately and made it happen. I really love ordering from this small, local company.

Google
Phenomenal coffee that turned me from a coffee denier to a coffee lover — been a loyal customer for more than 5 years now but finally felt compelled to write a review after they came through with some exceptional customer service to help me with a lost package. Had the chance to visit the roasters earlier this year as well and really enjoyed getting to see the operation and the coffee we sampled on site was excellent. All told - awesome coffee, awesome people, and awesome company, I'm a fan for life!

Google
The best coffee I have ever had. I really miss when they had cafes in Boston, I would go almost every day I was in the office. They also used to give you a free cup of drip if you bought a bag of beans, which was nice. I'm actually a tea guy these days but I still buy Barrington to give to people as a gift and everybody says that it is superb

Google
The coffees are phenomenal. There is a difference with this brand . We are fortunate to have access at local shops here in the Berkshires. I don't know what they do differently here, but every roast we've tried has been fantastic. Even if you have to mail order, it is worth it.

Google
Incredibly high quality beans, so fresh and huge variety!

Yelp
Simply delicious coffee. I had no idea that the coffee I enjoyed in a favorite NYC shop came from this small roaster in the Berkshires. When I asked about the delicious coffee at 303 Cafe in East Boston, they told me about Barrington. I looked them up online and learned more about their brew. It's a complex cup, deep and strong in flavor. There's no bitter edge. Just smooth caffeinated goodness. Now comes the question: with such delicious coffee being made locally, why is anyone still drinking Dunkin?

Yelp
My husband knows I am really into different coffees, especially espressos. He was looking for somewhere local and stumbled upon this place. It was 12/23 and closed for the holidays, however, there was a truck with someone in it so my husband asked if he knew anything about the place. It was one of the owners, Barth, and he asked my husband questions about what I was looking for and what I like to drink. Even though the place was completely closed, he went in and created a wonderful gift box for him to give me for Christmas. The kindness alone you can't put a price on. The coffee, excellent. We love supporting local business, and this will be a go-to for coffee from now on. Please check this place out and support a wonderful company. Thank you Barth!

Yelp
I love Barrington Coffee...BUT....If this company continues to do business with the likes of Rubiner's in Great Barrington, I will begin to doubt their reputation and integrity. Numerous horrific experiences at Rubiners plagued repeatedly by poorly trained staff, creates a nightmare experience, visit after visit. We've given this place too many chances to redeem themselves and it gets worse. Vendors need to be accountable for who they supply. I asked for Stevia, at the cafe in the back. They asked "we only have natural sweetenersl" lol. Apparently, their boss hasn't given them a clue that Stevia is actually a plant, as in natural. Then they loudly mocked me, the entire staff, from the young lady to the barista: "can you believe people, if they want that, they should bring it themselves." I never experienced such blatant rudeness. They went on and on about how it happened earlier too, as if I was invisible. Forgetting diabetic people drink coffee too. Childish, disgusting. That cup of coffee was poison after a great day, despite it being amazing coffee. I'm sure he'll be out of business soon as there is a long history of this disgusting behaviour in this establishment, riddled with poor reviews all over social media. In the meantime, Barrington Coffee and its great name, will only do harm to its brand associating with this establishment. Let them source their beans from Stop & Shop like they deserve.

Yelp
A few days ago I had an excellent cup of coffee at a diner in Lee, Massachusetts. Upon learning what it was, I got in my car and drove directly to the Barrington Coffee Roasting Company, where I was incredibly fortunate to meet Brian Heck. In the next 15 minutes I learned more about coffee and the proper preparation procedure than I had in decades of research and experimentation. I feel like I made a friend, and I will be a customer for life. I have already alerted 4 other people, who said they would give it a try. It is the most satisfying coffee I have ever had, and I have been drinking Illy and Gevalia for many years. Thanks again, Brian. Hope to see you soon. Ed

Yelp
This company provides authentic, locally roasted coffee products that are superior in nature. I visited their site and found it to be a wealth of information with a supportive, outgoing staff that were happy to accommodate my needs. They support many local businesses and charities and as a local business, and have been written up by a number of national food and beverage magazines for the good work they do. I loved the coffee that I purchased from them and will recommend them to all of my friends and family who are coffee connoisseurs.

Yelp
Barth, the man behind the coffee, roasts up beans that make a cuppa joe like no other. The difference is as great as a fresh tomato right off the vine and one out of a can. That big of a difference. They roast when you order which accounts for the huge increase in the freshness level. Beyond that I don't under the magic that makes something black and bitter in one pot and something smooth and complex in another. I just know it happens. Coffee for me used to be lots of cream and sugar and some caffeine mixed in. People who know about my legendary sweet tooth are amazed I drink my coffee black now. At least at home I do. Made in a French press and hand ground right before I make it. I gave this coffee away as gifts over the holidays and a friend made some with a regular drip coffee maker and used one of those electric whirring blade grinders and it still tasted great. If you like coffee I doubt there is a place you can get coffee this well roasted and this fresh. Plus of course the beans they use are top of the line as well but to be honest I just believe Barth when he says that. Maybe someday I'll get him to take me with him to South America where he meets the farmers and checks out the, um, bean fields? Bean orchards? Bean groves? Whatever. It's good stuff. Try it.

Yelp
Stale coffee, don't know what they're selling at their retail location, but the 2 coffees I got thru the "Order fulfillment" center were truly awful..and that is not an over statement. I tried a number of brewing methods and grinds, all unacceptable.

Martin H.

Yelp
Received a packet for Christmas and was very disappointed. Tasted bitter and was likened to cheap gas station coffee.

Yelp
Barrington might be the best of the rest in New England, an area not known, for good reason, for fine coffee or great food. None the less, during our temporary exile to the frozen tundra that is New England, we will happily enjoy their products. However, if Dan B. in Berkeley can't find as good, or better, in the SF Bay Area, he just isn't looking. Ditto for cherie c. Palm Desert is a bit out of the way, but there are many roasters as good as Barrington much closer. But, as noted, for the Northeast, they may well be the best

John G.

Yelp
Absolutely the best. Fresh, tasty, incredible.Awesome customer service. Life is incomplete without their coffee. Really it is that good and better than what you are used to.

P H.

Yelp
Excellent coffee and great service. We brought home a bag of Los Tuneles, roasted that very day. Delicious way to start the day.

Yelp
I open the box in the shop yesterday and every head swiveled in unison, everyone thinks the waffle cones smell heavenly but what came out of that box surpassed it by a mile:) It must have been packed warm because for about 30 seconds you could close your eyes and swear you were in the roasting room. So, here I sit enjoying my first cup of my new forever coffee, (good thing you ship) and anticipating my second cup with sadness. After drinking two pots a day for many years I now drink two cups of the best coffee I can find, and this is the best I've ever found! Kudos to your roasters:)
