food is really great and serving is huge. one of the best mexican I have tried. I didn't realize one order of entree is for 2 people (or maybe it just too much for me) - but very tasteful and staff are friendly. cocktails are also great. the place is cozy and nice for dinner. overall i had a great experience.

Google
Delicious!!! It was the best Mexican food I had in a while! The portion sizes are huge! I didn't think I would be able to finish it all, but it was that tasty I did finish it all. The fish for the tacos also a massive size!! It was the biggest piece of fish I ever saw on a fish taco. The drinks served were also yummy. I highly recommend this spot. We went after lunch during the weekday, and it was empty, but we were left impressed.

Google
Went here for the first time and thought it was okay. They have some unique drinks and authentic Mexican food. Service was super slow and the staff didn't check in on is at all. The place is small which makes that even more strange. Great music. Liked it, but the service could be a bit more attentive. I had their ceviche and it was way too spicy. They should really let you are your own level of spiciness.

Google
Can't say enough good things about this place. Two staff greeted my partner and I and sat us at a table inside. We ordered two items, cauliflower and guacamole, and a beer. They were so tasty and came in generous portions. The interior was decorated with Spanish/mexican items. Outdoor patio looked like a good place to hang because it bordered spark across the street. The bill was pretty high at $48 with tax but it was worth it.

Google
Absolutely love the food! It’s great for dining out especially in the summer/fall when patio is open. Been here a couple of times and always difficult to finish the plate but you can’t stop cause it’s so good!! Margaritas are good…but aren’t worth the price, sorry. Only issue is service. Every time I’ve been, we had to search for a server to come by to take the order or even get an update on the current order/drinks. Will give it one more chance but after that, truly sorry, but seems like there are other good places that are valuing their customers and their time.

Google
The service was snails pace. From water to drinks to food! Cocktails were good. We had spicy Margherita and El gringo was a 5☆. Food selection was 1☆ for steak taco! I mentioned to the host that the steak was dry, and I requested salsa. What I got without warning was hababero salsa extremelyhot!. And to top it all off, I was charged $2.50 without mention until I saw my bill! Needless to say, I will not go back to this poor running establishment. Note to owner change management that understands what client turnover ratio is and attentive to clients. We could of had 2 drinks and more food! You have a goldmine opportunity there with the 2 patios in Leslieville.

Google
Had the drip trio the guac, pico and retired beans. Guac and pico were good but the retired beans were plain. Al pastor were okay the tanqurea sauce wasn't my favorite. Cancun tacos were delicious and same with the street taco flank steak! Tinga was also good. The spicy Marg was delish and really spicy.

Google
Nice Mexican restaurant to dine in at. Service was good and the owner speak Spanish so if you speak you'll have a good conversation, he seems very friendly. Food taste great and good portions in my personal opinion. Lunch time is great to stop by on the week day if you don't want a crazy crowd.

Yelp
Barrio Cerveceria is easily reachable via the Queen Street streetcar, and it has 2 patios (one bigger one on the east side, with a large mural artwork on the wall). They don't take reservations for patio, but there should be minimal wait time if you come during non-busy hours (especially if you have a small group / don't require a big table). There was no wait at all when we went in the late afternoon / early dinner hours on a Saturday. The food here is really good - authentically Mexican and I consider one of the best Mexican restaurants in the city. You can mix and match different tacos (all the ones we've tried thus far are excellent!), and there are some main dishes and shareable ones too. APPETIZERS & SHAREABLES 1) Ensalada del Chef (cabbage, carrots, jicama, corn, cotija cheese, avocado, crispy tortilla, crispy chickpeas, fresh orange, and strawberries, tossed in homemade dressing) - Fresh and crispy salad. Love the crispy chickpeas and fresh orange & strawberries in the mix. 2) Ceviche de Camaron (lime cured shrimps, jicama, tomato, white onion, and avocado), served with homemade tortilla chips - This has a bit of a 'kick' to it. TACOS 3) Camarones Endiablados Tacos (shrimps with guacamole, lettuce, grilled pineapple, and cilantro) - My favourite taco type at Barrio. The grilled pineapple and cilantro really add zest to the shrimps. If only the pineapple pieces are bigger in size and volume! 4) Vegetariano Tacos (sautéed zucchini, carrots, pepper, onion, mushrooms, salsa de molcajete, and cilantro) - Great vegetarian option for tacos. 5) Placero Tacos (sautéed cactus, onion, corn, and epazote on top of black beans, topped with cotija cheese, salsa verde, and cilantro) - I've tried cactus tacos in several other places before, and this one is my favourite. The mixture of sautéed cactus, onion, and corn go really well with the black beans and cotija cheese. MAIN DISHES 6) Barrio Bowl (Mexican rice, refried beans, portobello mushrooms, crema, Oaxaca cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, served in a bowl with house salad of spinach & seasonal vegs) - Sooo yummy! All the ingredients mixed together in one bowl = flavour bomb goodness. The portobello mushrooms covered with melted cheese are especially heavenly. DESSERT 7) Mexican Churros with cinnamon and fresh berries - Served hot and crispy. Best to eat right away when it comes out. Unlike the traditional Spanish churros that are dipped in chocolate, this one is covered with powdered sugar, cinnamon, and caramel drizzle. It's good for those who have a sweet tooth.

Yelp
To be honest I've got a mixed feeling about this place. We went to Barrio on a Sunday evening and it was pretty busy. We decided to sit on the patio and loved the aesthetics - would highly recommend sitting on the patio instead of inside. Our server was charming and very friendly, no complains there. However, we were not very satisfied with the food or the drink. We ordered a cocktail and I can't recall the name of it but it tasted really bad. Every sip felt like I was chewing on cucumbers and felt like I was sipping on basic cucumber juice. We ordered two fish tacos and two chicken tacos - they were expensive. $7.5 for the chicken and $8.5 for the fish each seemed a little irrational to me. The chicken tacos were not that great but we loved the fish ones. For mains we got their quesadilla with chicken - again $14 + the price for adding chicken for three small quesadillas were not worth it. We also tried their Enchiladas and I think this was the only dish that was worth the money. All in all the experience wasn't bad but I'd not be back for sure.

Yelp
Started the patio season with this place the other day. We actually came here once last summer as well and unfortunately the service hasn't improved at all. Takes ages for someone to come talk to you at the front to seat you. Some of the servers seem like they hate being there and you feel uncomfortable asking for anything. Then have to wait a long time to actually order and then the prices are not really worth what you get. Margarita tasted good but I'm not sure there was actually any booze in it. Guacamole was great, Just that for that price I can get a lot more somewhere else with better service.

Yelp
We were there on Monday afternoon. I hate the fact that they auto added an 18% tip for a party of 4. We realized that we had added inadvertently added tip.. When we complained, they were quick to reverse it.. seemed to me that they are used to patrons requesting the reversal. Just not good business ethics. Food was good though pricey... Barring the tip incident, I would probably have given the restaurant 4 stars.

Mary R.

Yelp
Horrible service. The man that runs it is rude and completely indifferent to his customers. If you have a reservation it is not honoured. The place is an absolute mess, dirty and looks neglected.

Yelp
Food was fresh, beautiful, and delicious. I loved the fish tacos, they were great and I would recommend them. My main complaint is that the enchiladas were a very small serving size. For $19 I feel like they could have at least given more rice? If you look at the photo provided you can see that it's hardly bigger than a frozen meal..! Was still hungry after finishing it.

Yelp
Given the high rating reviews, I expected a lot more from this place. I felt like it was a bit too overhyped and not worth their prices. I got the churros and enchiladas. The churros presentation looked amazing even though, it was in a takeout box. Unfortunately the great presentation did not meet the actual taste. The churros were way too hard which it can be easily noticeable that it's old. The enchiladas were average, the flavours weren't anything that stood out to me and was a bit too soggy.

Yelp
You're here for the tacos. This is what they do. There's a dozen types on the menu and since you can order them in singles, you can make you're way through a good number of them. Not just the typical ones but a selection from different parts of Mexico. Of note is the Chihuahua, where they deep fry the chihuahua cheese and it is salty perfection. Unfortunately they did not honour the 10% Yelp checkin. Said it was for another location which is clearly not the case. Would have gotten a five.

Yelp
I came here for dinner with some girlfriends. They have great COVID measures with hand sanitizer throughout the restaurant. They have 3 patios (a small rooftop patio, one on the west side of the restaurant, and a large patio on the east side of the restaurant). There's lots of room for social distancing both inside and outside. Masks are required by all staff, and by customers when walking around. My girlfriends and I sat on the east patio. We ordered some drinks. They took awhile, but we ordered different cocktails and there was only one bartender. I ordered the Packing Heat. It was amazing. I didn't like it too spicy, so I just had it without the rimmer. We started with appetizers. The guacamole was tasty and fresh, the chips were delicious too. The ceviche was fresh and flavourful, and the empanadas were cheesy and gooey and delicious! For dinner I had the Cancun (fish taco), the Street Taco and the Carnitas. All were good, lots of flavour and full of ingredients, but my favourite was the fish taco. They're always my favourite. Our server was funny and friendly. Great place.

Yelp
We loved, loved, loved their brunch options! It was hard to choose because every option looked yummy. I ordered the "DIVORCIADOS" and it was colourful and spicy; really liked the salad and potatoes. The service was a little slow, and the music was pretty loud. But, we will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
We tried this place for dinner and ordered tacos, chips and few drinks. The food was okay, ambience and patio is nice but the service was extremely bad. We had to keep calling our server for basic stuff. I would not recommend the place unless you're going for a quick drink or so.

Yelp
It's a beautiful patio so if that's what you're looking for it's great. The three dips were great too! Really nice tortillas. Interesting twists in margaritas with great tequila. No jose here! Our server was really friendly but super hard to understand and not the most efficient. Great experience over all though

Yelp
Great venue and patio but the service is severely lacking. Arrived for brunch and there was no lineup except for a couple ahead of us. Saw a few tables open up as we waited at the front to be greeted and seated. No greeter showed up for 10 minutes. When they did they asked us how many and told us to wait a bit longer for a table. The couple in front of me waited another few minutes and then left. I waited another 10 minutes before another greeter asked if I was waiting on a table. In total it took over 20 minutes to be greeted and seated. Staff didn't make any conversation and only ask what you're drinking and eating. One order didn't show up and we couldn't flag anyone down so had to find someone for assistance. I asked for ketchup for my fries and the guy just said "no we don't serve that here" before abruptly turning away. My main dish arrived missing the pork carnitas and when i inquired they said "i don't think it comes with that" so I pulled up the menu on my phone and had to show them what ingredients are in their dishes (good luck to anyone with allergies eating here). Waitress then takes my dish away and brings it back without even apologizing. Only time our waitress said anything remotely nice was "thank you" when we were about to pay and tip. Wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Ordered the La Mula a great drink while my friend ordered her first margarita ever! Staff was super sweet and drinks were good!

Yelp
Came here when Toronto reopened. Beautiful restaurant with great South American decor. The staff were quite friendly. When we came in the summer, it was a bit rainy, so we opted to stay inside. Food: Well...let's just say it's ok. The portions were very small compared to the price. We started with guacamole (sorry didn't take a pic) I ordered 3 tacos: Chorizo, Pastor and Cochinita. While my coworker ordered Carne Ala Parilla. I understand it's lunch time and the portions are generally smaller. However, when the tortilla itself is smaller than a typical size and the the filling on the tacos are also small, it's really disappointing. I was still hungry after that meal. The flavours can also get a bit better. Service: The service is pretty good. They had quite a bit of staff there present even during at that time just reopening from COVID lockdown. She's quite attentive and knowledgeable. The ambiance at this place is probably pretty awesome in the evening. Probably a great date spot to go for a drink and maybe some snack portion sizes. They seem to have an extensive array of tequilas. I won't take it off my list to give it another chance.

Yelp
Sorry. I meant to post re SERVICE only. We never got to the eating part. Perhaps not even deserving of the one star. It was my daughter's birthday and she wanted Mexican. She had been to Barrio once before a couple of years ago and said she wanted me to experience their Margaritas. We came in with my granddaughter in her stroller. The one server, showed us a table and promptly left, not offering us a highchair. We settled ourselves and took a look at the menus. The server returned and I started to request the margarita and attempted to ask about the differences between the three options. He replied: "I'll be back in a minute once you've decided." How RUDE. My daughter and I discussed as to whether we should stay or not. One, the service, two, the prices had gone up significantly, $15 plus for the drinks, three, there was a large party when we came in and another that showed up shortly after. The server returned several minutes later. We mentioned how rude he was to us. He tried to back out and did not offer an apology. We left. Such a shame. We try to shop local as well as when we eat out. That server just cost Barrio's a $100 plus meal plus his tip, which I customarily do 20%. Not sure that we will return.

Yelp
The owner is extremely rude and unprofessional. We were seated at a table for 4 (we arrived as a party of 2) as we were waiting for my friends to arrive a bit later for drinks. We had finished dinner and ordered more drinks when the owner aggressively approached our table and advised that he needs to move us to a different table as we only have a party of 2 at the time while there was an empty table for 4 beside us. He did not even let us tell him that our friends were on the way neither did he apologize for any inconveniences. We proceeded to request that our drinks be canceled and to have our bill and he said "that's fine" and walked away. Once we paid the bill, we asked the waiter whether we should exit through the patio and he said that we need to exit through the restaurant. We went into the restaurant to exit the front doors when the owner once again aggressively approached me and was walking very close to me while hand gesturing me to move back. He proceeded to say that we needed to exit through the back. He did not listen to what we had to say as we tried to explain that we were told otherwise. He kept approaching closer to me while cutting me off and hand gesturing me to go back. We asked whether he was the manager and advised that we were not going to come back and his response was "I'm the owner. don't come back". The experience and treatment was awful. The owner had zero respect for his customers.

Yelp
First impression we got with the restaurant staff was bad. Though there was a table vacant outside in the open area (patio) , we were not offered. After repeated asking, we were let to that table. Ordered enchiladas. Oh boy!! The tasty enchiladas I ever tasted. And the portion was quite filling. Bar didn't have the options I was looking for. Overall food and ambience is quite good that scored the rating.

Yelp
This was my first dining experience post COVID and it has been awhile since my last review. The restaurant did a good job of distancing the tables and having all staff wear masks. I really liked the cute patio and although it wasn't patio weather they had a heater which was great. We tried most of their tacos including a cactus one which was interesting! I recommend the shrimp one which is sweet but with a little spice. The Tres Amigos app was good and the guac was on point! I also got their Show Me the Passion drink was nice and sweet and featured flaming rum in a passionfruit shell.

Yelp
*EL MERCADO MARKET REVIEW Was there this past Sunday afternoon. Small space offering about 6-7 tables for 2 and 2 tables of four. All were pretty much taken when our group of 4 arrived. Ordered the Chirros $6 for about 5 pieces that were maybe 3.5inches long. Tasted pretty good though. Ordered the Pineapple & Jalapeno Lime soft serve ice cream both in a pineapple, $10 each. Pineapple was ok, the Jalapeno Lime wasn't good at all and the actual pineapples had past it's best days long ago. Ordered Pork (Carnitas) tacos, $6 each or 4/$20. Barely 3inches, tasted like the pork was boiled, absolutely zero flavour with an overall wet rag texture/profile. Service was prompt and very friendly, esp the lady serving the ice cream, and social distancing was practiced as best as possible considering the small space. All of the above for $52 with tax. Unfortunately, we will not be returning or recommending this place in the future.

Yelp
So torn about this review as past reviews have been all over the place but I decided to give this place a shot despite the negative reviews. Got the pescado main. There was hair in my food. My friend got the bowl and she didnt finish it as she said it was so so. Wait staff is super friendly and were quick to apologize about the hair. 2 waitresses came by a few times to ask if there was anything else they could offer me. A few times I said no I lost my appetite and then one suggested a drink perhaps and that they would take care of it because of the hair in the food. We got the bill and I was charged for the drink. I didnt say anything because I dont really care as it was an overall poor experience at this point anyways but I think they should have comped the drink or sent a manager over at the least to address it. Definitely won't be going back and for the most part I agree with other reviewers, staff is good, food is crap, some drinks are ok but mine was crap. Everything is over priced for sure!

Yelp
Disappointed is an understatement. It was my fiancee's first birthday outside since the Quarantine and we realized, we were better off staying home. We were a party of 12 and the restaurant assigned only one waiter to our table, to make it even better... A brand new waiter! So to say the least, service was extremely slow! Our drinks took over 20 mins to get to our table. On top of that, the birthday girl was the last person to get her drink!! Finally after about 40 mins of waiting, we received our food. Everyone's plates were cold and one of us had a long black hair in it, and another person did not receive their meal at all!! After eating cold food and not being able to get a second round of drinks because they never arrived, I asked them to hand out the cake I had brought. The waiter gave out the plates, had everything ready, then approached me apologizing that he's new and was not aware there was a $30 fee to serve the cake!!! I declined the service, asked for my bill and left... Almost $300 later, I walked out embarrassed to have taken my soon to be bride to such a horrible establishment.

Yelp
Food was mediocre at best. Personally do not think $6-$7 per small taco was worth it. Their spicy margaritas are also not spicy. I had to ask for extra jalapeño slices and it was still not as spicy as I would've liked it. Service is extremely slow, although the staff are friendly.

Juicy J.

Yelp
Awful service, I truly mean awful! Totally understaffed and the servers are beyond slow. So many people walked away because they weren't seated, people that did get seated got up and left after 20 minutes of no service. I would never go back and would tell you to save your time/money and go somewhere else. This was the worst dining experience I have experienced in Toronto.

Joyce G.

Yelp
We stopped in for an impromptu lunch yesterday, first time at the restaurant. Food and ambience on the patio were excellent! Friends visiting from California raved about their huarache ranchero and enchiladas dishes, and I loved the enfrijoladas w/ carnitas. Serving sizes for these dishes were substantial. The tasty food helped erase the memory of sub-par meals I've had at other Mexican restaurants in Toronto. Service was quite relaxed. That's fine on a quiet weekday afternoon, but I imagine this could lead to service challenges on busy evenings as described by other reviewers.
google avatar

Yelp
I so want this place to be great and I've given it a chance on three separate occasions. Every time I have been disappointed. In the future I would go for patio drinks but not order any food. Food has major issues every time: cold food, long service, tiny portions/poor value, etc.

Adam B.

Yelp
I haven't written a bad review in almost a decade, but my experience in Barrio Cerveceria tonight was as brutal as it gets. Buckle up, here we go; 18:45 Arrive at Barrio with a friend and seated outside on the west facing patio 18:55: Our waiter arrives and takes our order. We order a spicy margarita each and a plate of beef tinga nachos. 19:10: Our drinks are delivered. In all honesty they are delicious. Big fan. This is the apex of the experience. 19:30: We've been done our drinks for 10 minutes and there is no sign of our food or the waiter we ordered from. 19:40: A waitress approaches our table and asks if we'd like to order anything. Halfway through her sentence, she tells us this table is not in her section and she made a mistake. We ask her to check on our order of Nachos from 45 minutes ago and ask if we can have another margarita each while we wait. She says she needs to find our waiter but will check on our order. 19:50: Our original waiter makes a rare cameo on the patio. We flag him down and he says he'll be right with us while keeping up a brisk pace. He walks quickly back inside. 20:05: A third waiter we've never seen serves a table next to us and we ask him if he can send our original waiter over and/or check on our food and drinks. Its been 35 minutes since our drinks are done and over an hour since we ordered Nachos. 20:12: Our original waiter comes out, approaches our table (empty handed) and casually asks us if we are ready to order any food. I was in genuine disbelief. I tell him we ordered food directly from him over an hour ago, and have since asked two separate employees to follow up on it. He follows this up by asking us again if we'd like to order anything. I tell him at this point I'd like the bill so I can find food elsewhere. 20:20: The third waiter we encountered asks us if we'd like anything. We tell him we are waiting on the bill. He says he'll check on it. 20:26: Our original waiter comes out with the bill. Sure enough, we are charged for the food that only 15 minutes ago I had explained to this very waiter we hadn't received. He says he needs to check "with someone" and that he'll be right back. 20:31: A plate of nachos arrives instead of the corrected bill 1 hour and 40 minutes after ordering and 15 minutes after we asked for the bill. I can't even. The drinks never came. In all fairness the drink we had were delicious. I'm sure the nachos were too but by that time we were so fed up it was hard to enjoy. The service is nothing less than Dante's seventh circle of hell. So bad that it's not worth the payoff.

Yelp
We came here for Dia de los Muertos celebration. Finding parking isn't too bad as it's just outside of the downtown core. Upon entering this venue has two floors, downstairs encompasses a cute bar with plenty of smaller tables. Upstairs caters for larger groups which can turn into a big dance venue for after dinner hours. Dressed up in Dia de los Muertos attire and make up we indulged in Mexican fare. For starters we shared their Tres Amigos chips with three types of dip. For mains I had their Tinga Tostada. Overall presentation of the dishes were great, but the overall experience didn't feel as authentic compared to most Mexican restaurants I've been to.

Yelp
Was my first visit, and had a craving for some good Mexican food. The food didn't disappoint on flavour, the enchiladas were delicious with the perfect amount of heat. Portion size could have been bigger; but that may also be a personal preference. Unfortunately, our initial server didn't bring us water or untensils. Thankfully, another server took over and was much more useful and efficient. He was downright pleasant and saved the overall experience.

Yelp
We came here yesterday for their "Outdoor Market" and were blown away. The line up was super long and we almost didn't stay but we were glad we did. The line went around the building and across the street but it was a very fast hour and everyone respected the social distancing marks on the sidewalk. Once we got up to the front they explained how it worked and if you don't have your own mask they give you one. They give you a paper bag and you go around the market in one direction filling it up until you get to the end and you pay. After that we took our bag to the park literally across the street and had all the fixings for a great picnic. There was plenty of room in the park to relax. What we had: - Tacos (pork and beef). The beef were my personal fave and had a great spicy flavor it it. - Chips and guacamole. Absolutely delicious! - Mexican street corn. So tasty! - Dill pickle ice cream - insta worthy but not great tasting. Has this weird bland taste and then this Dill hits and I don't know what it is but it just doesn't work for me. Wish we had gotten the ice cream that came with the watermelon. - Margaritas. They give you all the fixings to mix your margaritas, including a salt rim, bottle of tequila, and their house made marg mix. These Margaritas were the best I ever had. Their mix was unbelievable. And I think because I could control the amount of tequila, seriously made me enjoy this one more than any other I have had. We still had some tequila left over. The market was festive, the staff were super nice and they had the social distancing thing down pat. I would highly recommend to come here and then head over to the park for a nice summery picnic. We are super glad we did! My only recommendation would be for the restaurant to help with the garbage. Everyone who went to the park left their big brown bags of garbage all around the trash can, and there was a TON of them. I think the restaurant should help keep that area clean.

Yelp
Lots of patio space with is great for the summer - especially for the summer of COVID. Apart from that, the food is serviceable but unexceptional Mexican (or even Tex Mex) food. Basically: good vibes and okay food.
google avatar

Yelp
Had lunch at this Mexican hotspot in Leslieville. The patio is large and lively and with a decor to match. The tables are very well spaced and they are taking every precaution required in these Covid times. I had a selection of tasty tacos: fried haddock fish taco, al pastor, beef tinga and cochonita. They were all so tasty! My favourite is the al pastor and fish is the 2nd. Also enjoyed their "steer-style" corn. Very tasty. The manager is really nice and went above and beyond to ensure we had a good visit. The best customer service! I will be back.

Yelp
First meal in Toronto after a weekend at the cottage. We decided to check out Barrio Cerveceria, a hipster Mexican spot, which my cousin has been to several times. We dropped in on a Sunday evening (around 7:00pm). There's a huge patio area where almost everyone was sitting, enjoying the sunny weather. Our server was good and attentive. Brought us multiple refills of water and chips. The menu is split into to share, starters, mains and tacos. Annoyingly, we tried to order the elote callejero (corn) and pierna adobada (lamb) but they were sold out of both dishes. The drink menu is just as large; cocktails, cervezas, wine, margs on rocks, tequila and mezcal. - 2x Show me the passion ($15.00 for 2oz) - cazadores reposado fresh passionfruit, lime juice and ginger-infused agave. You get a shot on top. - Smoking de spice ($14.00) - jaral de berrio mezcal, cointreau, lime juice, morita chilis and house smoked agave peaty scotch with a salt rim. - Guacamole del barrio ($10.00) - guacamole topped with tomato, chopped onion, serrano pepper, cilantro and tortilla chips. Avocado was creamy but they overdid it with the salt. - Ceviche de camarones ($16.00) - lime cured shrimp, jicama, tomato, white onion, avocado and tortilla chips. The ceviche won't blow you away; it lacked freshness and acidity. - Barrio burrito ($16.00) - roast chicken, rice, beans, cheese, crema and guacamole. Again, too much of a heavy hand with the salt. Pretty small burrito for the price too. - Barrio bowl ($16.00) - we went with beef tinga for the bowl. This was better than the burrito. - Enchilda verde ($18.00) - three fried corn tortillas stuffed with beef tinga and topped with crema, red onion, cotija cheese and rice. The verde sauce was well balanced and the enchiladas were tasty. A small portion unfortunately. - Frito a la cerveza ($17.00 for 3) - we originally ordered two but these were delicious so we ordered another three. The cod was nicely battered and came with an addictive chipotle mayo. - Cochinita pibil ($6.00) - pulled pork shoulder. The grilled chicken was an interesting way to add some sweetness. Good. - Michoacán carnita ($6.00) and tinga ($7.00) - M ordered these for himself. Said both were good. - 2x Pastor ($5.00 each) - stir fried pork with grilled pineapple, white onion, cilantro and salsa fresca. Some good dishes, most were average. Definitely pricey and small portions. Tacos are in the hipster price range.

Yelp
I've been to Barrio a couple times now and I have nothing but love for this place. I've taken my all of my friends here, including those out of town visiting from Montreal, and they were all happy with the food and service at Barrio. First of all, I love that it's on Queen St E. Easily accessible with a quick streetcar ride from the downtown core. It can get quite busy on some days and you'll have to settle for the quieter and less vibrant patio but nevertheless, the food and drinks are worth the visit. If you really wanted a spot in their highly demanded patio, I suggest you visit in the middle of the week where the wait isn't as crazy as it is on the weekend. In terms of food and drink, I love their burrito bowl!! For such a simple dish, they manage to get all the right flavour combinations in one dish. It's a burrito bowl. It's not meant to be over complicated. It's simply tasty. This is coming from a guy who usually gets quickly bored with burrito bowls. It looks small but absolutely filling! I love their Sangria here!! For sure, it's kinda pricey. 10$/glass but after a long of day of work, I don't mind. The sangria uses some of the strongest red wines that I've tasted. The mix is most certainly fruity and sweet but doesn't completely dilute the wine. All in all, this place has done me no wrong! Looking forward for my next visit :)

Yelp
A very nice patio. The menu is pretty straight forward (not the most extensive list of options), but they do the basics well. Good job on the presentation as well. Definitely a place to try, if you are not in a hurry and don't mind being ignored by waiters. We would've likely had more drinks if they had asked us. A few tables had to go inside to ask them to take their orders.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with my sisters. Food is pretty good but a little pricey for me. 3 tacos for $20 is just way too much for the portion. I do like that when you check in on yelp they give you 10 percent off.

Yelp
Really cute place and patio. Very socially distanced and covid aware which was really nice. I had 3 Placero Tacos minus the cheese and hubby had 3 street tacos. They were yummy and fresh and full of flavour. We had the guacamole as well and it was very filling and fresh. The drinks were really cute and pretty and tasty and hit us really quick!

Yelp
Went here for a bday dinner for the wife. Food was a bit bland in my opinion. Drinks are super expensive. My rice was super dry like it's been sitting there for quite some time. There's far better options for this type of food in the city.

Yelp
Came for brunch with a large party. Service had a lot more to he desired but food was delicious. Staff: We had made a reservation but they only had one staff member for the first hour we were there. After which there were four servers which helped a lot more. Understandably, the server was overwhelmed and slow with a packed house. Service was friendly though. Ambience: It's not a large place, but it's bright and the music is vibrant. There's plenty of free street parking so that's a plus. Food: I has the churro French toast and it was mighty delicious. I could it it for days! I also had a fish taco; it was spicy (for me, which doesn't say much) but still delicious. It was crispy and tasty. I'd come back, plus it's nice to be more east and away from downtown.

Yelp
Lame. Don't understand the high ratings for food - it was really not impressive. But mostly unimpressed with the service. It was not even a busy night but my girlfriend and I sat with our empty plates in front of us for ages and no one looking to refresh our drinks. Like literally having to trip/flag down servers all night for drinks. Tried to be empathetic re: freshly back to work after the lockdowns, but cmon people, that was a pathetic experience! Won't be going back.

Yelp
Excellent vibe in a happening neighbourhood. Nice interior. Haven't checked the upstairs yet. The food is very, very good. I'm more drawn to the tacos than the burritos having tried both. Service/wait staff is hit and miss but the food more than makes up for it. Wine choices are pretty good. Dessert choices good too. All in all, definitely worth checking out. I've been here twice. Will be back again for sure.

Yelp
Over priced. Over hyped but the food is nothing special at all. The staff tries with good service. But there is much better Mexican food out there in the city.

Yelp
If you are looking for a fun place to host your next party with great food, atmosphere and Latino music, this is it! We went to Barrio last night for my friend's bday dinner and we had a fantastic time. I didn't eat dinner there but the reviews from my friend's were quit positive. Our server was super attentive, always made sure we have everything we needed rather it's food or booze and we were a party of 30 people. We pretty much occupied the entire second floor so we can be as loud as we wanted without fearing disturbing other resto patrons. After a certain time, I think it was around 10pm, they turn up the music and we got the entire floor to practice our mediocre salsa moves. Scorrrrre The only disappointment of the night was my mojito, it was wayyyyy too sweet.

Yelp
Service: I've been here a couple of times - it depends on how busy they are, but on average pretty attentive and good service, no complain Drinks: they have a pretty good selection on their drinks menu, and also offer non alcoholic drinks! Food: I've tried their Nachos, Burrito Bowl (forgot which one), and chips and 3 dips (guac, salsa, retried beans). Nothing was ever mind blowing, but their nachos and dips are definitely GREAT to my likings! The chips are made fresh in the house and are always golden and crispy (can also be very addictive...), also a generous amount of nachos toppings and well seasoned dips. Overall: they also have daily special offers for tacos and drinks, and outdoor patios on 2 sides! It's not somewhere I'd go for dinner because of the noise and bar vibe, but that's just me. I'd definitely come here again sometime for some drinks, chips, and chill!

Yelp
I will say the Food is amazing here and that is why I can look past the price. To quote my friend, "omg, that drink is amazing" Re: Rasbery Mojito. My drink, show me the passion, also amazing and boozy. Tacos - street (flank), carnitas and tinga (braised beef) ALL AMAZING Roast chicken burrito bowl - can be described as extremely flavourful and each bite is a flavour train entering your mouth. Guacamole, rice, refried beans, pico de Gallo. WOW They have two patios, one is nicer than the other. Would return/10

Yelp
I heard a lot about this place...and that was the problem. The bar was set too high. First off...let's just get this out of the way....Good food (a tad pricey) but HORRIBLE service. We had a group table of ten and I believe it took them 20 mins to deliver water let alone take our drink orders. Which throughout the night was another disaster. They missed drinks, they forgot to key in orders. I waited 30 mins for a refill on my beer and had to inform the waitstaff twice about this issue. A total of three drinks in three hours. It's a shame, because when they were not messing up simple orders, the food was on point. The heated patio is cool, but when you're trying to enjoy the night by tracking down your servers who are absent minded, it takes away from the place. They got the bills wrong, the beer was flat, in the end, this just became another over-rated place to go. If you have three hours and don't mind being ignored by the staff, sure it's a nice place. But beyond that, it's disorganized, slightly over priced and poor poor service. Try Chula Taberna Mexicana. It might be more $$ but you get better service and the same type of food without the pretentious disorganized waitstaff.

Yelp
Just leaving here. Great place. The ambience is warm and friendly. I went when it was slow, but I'm told the place hops. The manager, Richard, served me. Very friendly and personable. Drinks were amazing. Calamari was great. Cornmeal crust was a bit salty, but not overcooked. I would definitely eat there again!

Yelp
Was very surprised by the less than 3 star review for this place. I stopped by, just because of the cute patio and beautiful weather. I then checked in on Yelp to find out what's good here. Protip: check-in here for 10% off, super easy to redeem with out server. Decent/average prices for typical Mexican fare - personally I wouldn't come here for the food or drinks, but worth a try just once for the patio! Poblano Soup ($10) - was a bit watery, no kick at all, and too many chips. However, it was flavorful and if you like milder soups this may be the one. Casuela + chorizo ($12 + 3) - DIY tacos!! Super cool and would be great for date night. Lots of cheese so love. However, taste doesn't stand out and not sure if the novelty is worth it. Tacos ($5 to 6 each) - Pretty decent. Nothing too special and definitely not as good as Seven Lives or La Carnitas which also offer them for $5 to 6 as well. Patio was great, gets great sunlight straight until the evening. Server was even better, very attentive and sweet (sorry forgot your name for a s/o!). I don't think I'll be stopping by again with all the other cool places in Leslieville, or if I'm craving Mexican/drinks. Other places that are much better for the price, or cheaper for same quality (in my opinion).
