"Barrio is a lot of things. It’s over-the-top, it’s far from authentic Mexican (the cocktail menu has a Singapore Sling), and the prices seem to climb every time we eat here. But in spite of all of that, Barrio is a great place to ball out. Eating at Barrio is an event, and if you don’t sprain your elbow trying to open the comically massive wooden sanctum door, you’ll be greeted by hundreds of lit candles covering every wall. (Seriously, closing up has to be a real bitch.) Pyro-logistics aside, the food is actually great, whether you’re getting al pastor tacos or grilled shrimp enchiladas, the number of solid vegetarian options is astounding, and the chopped salad is probably the best plate of leaves in Seattle. It’s also stupidly easy to make a reservation for as many people as you have in your group, so book away your birthdays, special occasions, and coworker group therapies at Barrio." - Aimee Rizzo
"When: Monday-Friday 4-5:30pm, Saturday-Sunday 3-5:30pm The Deal: $10 Sangria, $10 Margaritas, $7 Glasses Of Wine Welcome to Barrio, your friendly neighborhood Mexican restaurant. You’re here to drink tequila and eat snacks like braised pork taquitos and nachos that are way better than they have any right to be." - Aimee Rizzo
"Your Order: Barrio Chopped Barrio is a Mexican spot that pretty much doubles as a party. But you’re not here to party, you’re here for chopped salad. It wins against anything else on the menu, and it’s not because the tacos and enchiladas here are bad. (They’re not.) It’s because the Barrio Chopped is excellent. It has romaine, pickled onion, cabbage, avocado, cotija, spiced pepitas, tomato, corn, and a buttermilk-cilantro dressing we'd like to float in." - Aimee Rizzo
"Capacity: Full Buyout: 120 You can book a partial section of the dining room at this partytime Mexican restaurant for up to 34 people. Or you can reserve the whole dining room if you want to sit and eat guacamole with 120 people." - Aimee Rizzo
"Barrio’s front doors look like the threshold of a temple, and inside, it’s dark, with candles everywhere. So basically, it’s perfect for the very sacred ritual of taco-eating and margarita-drinking with a group of your best friends. If you don’t get a table, the bar is so big that you could also grab seats there. Make sure a round of frozen guava sangrias hits the table." - aimee rizzo
