Very convenient location with plenty of parking, they have good coffee selection and varieties of sandwiches and pastries, staff are friendly and readily available to help

Very quiet on a weekday at 8:30 a.m. Brewed coffee was pretty good. "Dark roast" was a little weak, though. Large variety of flavored strips, if you're into that. I am ...and the fact that they had a bottle of toffee nut syrup won me over (still pissed at Starbucks for discontinuing it). They offer a nice variety of baked goods, and a packaged assortment of day-old treats for $6. I'll go back one day and try an actual breakfast dish...and let you know 😜

Love this place, coffee is delicious, but they've got a nice variety of stuff. Tasty pastries, and the empanadas are great. The "best thing ever", a delicious combination croissant/cinnamon roll is maybe getting close to Too Much of a Good Thing but it's worth trying at least once.

A nice experience! The environment is lovely, lots of open space. Their coffee is great and pastries are delicious! Just keep in mind that they don’t have wifi before going, so if you’re planning on working there you’ll need to use your phone hotspot, etc.

Updated review from 9/15/2024: Barrio has made a lot of changes recently and is now called Venus. They seem to no longer have any of their breakfast sandwiches or bagels, and at least in the morning seem to be focusing on pastries and empanadas. We got 4 empanadas that were given to us in a to-go box and 3/4 of them were a little light on the fillings ($5 each), but it was nice they had a variety of flavors. My husband and I have been coming here regularly for 2 years and we are a little bummed about the changes to interior, getting rid of breakfast sandwiches/bagels, and the gradual removal of all the puzzles and games. It feels a lot less cozy now. They do still have their regular coffees and drinks which is very nice. I get the impression that they are in a very transitional period and may be focusing more on their lunch/dinner menu from now on so things will definitely be different. And they are still featuring local art which I love. Overall I’ve been a little sad to see some of my favorite things go, but I know they’re changing to try and make more money and I’m hopeful things go well for them! And I’m sure many of their new changes will appeal to a lot of people. Review from April 2024: I come here a lot. Some things are hit or miss but we have some favorites we always order and are rarely disappointed. They have lots of fun seasonal drinks that are worth a try, and their pumpkin drinks are especially good since they use real pumpkin. My husband and I usually get bagels with one of their several delicious cream cheeses and a lavender latte and we are very happy.

Family friendly with lots of housemade items on the menu. My favorite is the Thai tea with star anise and no food coloring!!!

Love this cafe!! It is amazing and always worth the drive. Family owned, everything is made fresh and absolutely amazing quality!! My favorite drink is the black rose latte. Can’t go wrong hot or iced. And you have to try the barrio breakfast sandwich, made to order. They always showcase local bands and artwork as well.

It is now Venus. I had the breakfast chorizo empanada. The empanada was absolutely delicious. Oh, man, it was so good, I wanted to go back to get another one after I left. I will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
I've been a BARRIO/VENUS customer for quite a while...before it was reopened as 'VENUS'...and there's little argument that Venus has good pastries, ranging from croissants to empanadas. They also serve good coffee and the indoor/outdoor seating offers several options for sitting back and enjoying a cuppa or a pastry. HOWEVER, one thing I used to complain about at Barrio has remained the same. SLOW, SLOW, SLOW service. Often with a single barista and only one other person taking care of the register/orders, service isn't bad during weekdays, but today (Saturday, a lovely, mild and unseasonably pleasant day) the service slowed down to an absolute crawl. While 'CRISSA' is a great individual and the baristas all pull an excellent cap or espresso, the line waiting for service can grow suddenly and yet there's no apparent recognisement of the need to speed things up accordingly. This morning (8AM or so) I dropped in for my usual croissant and espresso (or cap) and there were just two of us in line, waiting to place our orders. We waited...and waited...and waited, fruitlessly (just to order, mind you). I don't know about the rest of you but I patronise a place for two reasons: 1) good coffee and pastries, and 2) speedy, attentive service. At VENUS, the former gets five stars but the service occasionally warrants only two. This is a management problem in that services and goods should be available and delivered promptly. If this means telling people to shake a leg or two, so be it, but again that's management's responsbility, isn't it? Venus can be great when it is managed properly (i.e. as when CRISSA's there), but when it isn't, this detracts significantly (and needlessly) from an otherwise extremely pleasent and relaxing 'coffee & pastry experience.' I may tend to be a cranky old man sometimes, but I'm also a veteran of the Bay Area (and European) coffee scene (from the 70s onwards) and I KNOW what I'm talking about, when it comes to assuring satisfied and happy customers at any coffee house! Again, let me emphasise that this is NOT a common complaint, but it is important, nevertheless!

Yelp
The ownership or the brand seems to have changed, and so has the menu. They don't have the same food menu, and the pastries seemed to have changed as well. The cinnamon roll, while still good, is not the same as it used to be. Some of the pastries are very small as well, and not as sumptuous as they should be for the cost. However the empanadas are delicious, and my husband and I are weekend regulars for them! They also come with a variety of sauces that we really appreciate. Would highly recommend picking one or two up with your drink. We have yet to try their new pizza menu, but hoping they stick around the neighborhood as it looks like the ownership might change again soon.

Yelp
Love going here for the empanadas they are amazing. They usually sell out quickly and may not be available if you go after 10 am. The service is good and the restaurant is quaint. They can get busy, so I suggest going early before the rush. Will be back for the empanadas and to try the breakfast sandwiches.

Yelp
Had the Bario breakfast sandwich on the cheddar & jalepeno bagel, it was super fresh, full of flavor, & yummy! The Bikini bottom tea was very refreshing. Vibes are great, service was good, a bit slow, but they were pretty busy, with a non stop line out the door. So be prepared to be there for a bit. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Great way to start the morning with a cortado and a yummy chicken tinga empanada! Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Super cute café! They have a lot of things on their menu but I stuck with a Signature drink since it was my first time! I got a Churro Latte w/ oat milk & loved it!

Yelp
Wonderful bohemian cafe with plenty of seating for the remote worker or casual meetups. Kid friendly. The service and staff were helpful and friendly. I came about mid morning, there was adequate seating available inside and outside. I order the churro latte (signature drink) and a pour over. I was able to choose the roast which i opted for the Barrio medium roast. Flavorful and tasty coffee! Prices were reasonable and they had many drink options. They also can do regular, cold and French press brews. There were still some pastries available as well and lunch. I would definitely come here again and try some of their other signature drinks.

Yelp
I came by with a friend after I hadn't been here for months and I told her about how nice the place was , but sadly received the opposite of that , we were not greeted when we walked in and that was just not like the service I usually receive here specially in an empty cafe at 8 am, we both had coffee and the food menu wasn't out so I ordered online , food was good but we will go elsewhere Care:2/5 Quality :3/5 Cost:4/5 Cleanliness :5/5 Atmosphere :4/5 Parking:3/5-shared

Yelp
What a cozy coffee place!!!! There is lots of art on the walls!!! Great friendly staff!!! I will defiantly be back!!! They bake there delicious pastries!!!! I ordered a Chocolate Croissant and Hot Chai Tea with Soy Milk. I got a Cinnamon Roll to go. There are plenty of tables inside and outside. I chose to eat inside, the atmosphere is chill, great place to meet friends for breakfast or lunch!!! I picked up the Chocolate Croissant, it felt flaky to the touch, I took a bite and it could smell butter and chocolate. What a crispy and flaky croissant!!! DELICIOUS!!!!! Plenty of chocolate inside and on the top!!!! The Chai Tea was made perfectly, made my taste buds happy!!! I needed a treat this morning and coming to BARRIO was the perfect remedy for this!!! I highly recommend BARRIO to anyone looking for a great place to sit and chat or a good place for delicious eats!!!!

Yelp
This was my first time here as I was next door shopping, so I decided to stop by. The cafe looked like it's gotten some history as you can tell from their decor and designs of the place, kind of like a living room with dining tables and home-like photos placed in similar positions like you'd place family photos on the wall. I don't really know how to describe it. This place is not the typical aesthetically pleasing cafe, but it feels like it's been there for a long time. There were quite a few people chilling or doing some work, so I'd recommend this place to be the ideal spot as it's also kind of quiet and cozy. There's also outdoor seating in front of the cafe too, which is a nice plus! The staff were kind and attentive to me when I was ordering. They were a bit busy, but still gave me the best customer service. I ordered the Thai tea as I found it interesting that their Thai tea had vanilla and cocoa powder dusted on top. When I first took a sip, I actually liked it a lot! If you're looking for regular Thai tea, this isn't it. This tasted creamy with a subtle hint of Thai tea. I love Thai tea don't get me wrong, but this I don't mind getting it again. It wasn't too sweet either, which is a nice bonus as I don't like it too sweet. I wouldn't say it's like milk tea- Thai tea, but a horchata consistency Thai tea. Will get it again!

Yelp
Good coffee but very limited beer. Pastrys r ok. This place is usually dead. No games on tele.

Yelp
My first impression: This place is like a coffee shop on steroids! They have many bakery items and they all look delicious. I tried the cherry cheesecake danish and it was heavy!!! I also ordered the Barrio bagel on a jalapeño bagel it has eggs, cheese, bacon, and tomato and lettuce. It's a perfect breakfast sandwich with a kick. They also serve alcohol! The store is pretty sizeable so you are able to study and they do have open mic during the week! I was also looking around and saw that they have a local artist's paintings displayed and for sale. Barrio has impressed me on my first visit!

Yelp
I love this coffee shop. It's been a great neighborhood shop and the ambiance always felt super communal. When it was Barrio I went regularly and have dropped off a bit as they've been transitioning to Venus. It has been going through a bit of a tough transition from Barrio to Venus Taproom and Roastery where they will also have pizza and drinks (excited for that soon!). The service has dropped a little bit as I know they are in transition but it's been a bit of a bummer to see and hope once they've fully transitioned that this aspect of their business will be back on track. Also their breakfast sandwiches were amazing and I keep hoping and keeping my fingers crossed because their pastries while good just aren't the same.

Yelp
Just some feedback for the own from a very long time and loyal Barrio/Venus customer. First, the pizzas are great! I love the Chicken Tinga and the Mushroom pizza. Both are great. The Hot Honey Tea is fantastic. It is great that you have more options for us tea drinkers (there are dozens of us) than just Chai or whatever tea bags most places have. Staff . . . You all are awesome. I love how friendly you all are. But I am one of your long time morning customers. And the consistency of your morning offerings is killing me. If you are going to have a morning menu that includes a breakfast sandwich, for example, that should be something that is available EVERY MORNING. Why? I like routine. I think most morning people do. So, when I see that Venus is again offering pretty tasty breakfast sandos ( green onion infused cheesy egg, crispy bacon), and I have to make a choice to either go to Tupi or Venus, and I say "Hey, I want to support my local spot," and I show up and you DON'T have breakfast sandos, it makes me wish I went to Tupi instead. And that inconsistency breeds disloyalty. If I have to make that choice again, and I'm not sure you'll have breakfast sandos, I won't waste my time . . . This is the second time, for me, that you didn't have breakfast sandos. Not that you ran out . . . That you flat just didn't have them. So please, from a long time fan, try to be consistent. You're not loosinge, but you are loosing people a little bit more fickle who have more choices on their way to work.

Yelp
So in my usual fashion, I gave this local coffee house many chances, and after every visit I told myself I would not return. Only to try again because- it's a small business, it got a great vibe and others love it. Two stars is really low for me, and I am leaving this review in the "vain" hope that the owners might read this. Yes I realize that is super vain. I know this place is beloved by other residents in the area and I really want to love it too, but I can't just yet. Issues: in the dozen times I have gotten any sort of espresso drink (they never seem to have brewed decaf so I have to pay up and order a half decaf americano, cap or latte) the shots taste like burned old grounds - even with milk. A lot of milk. The beans are probably just fine but definitely a super dark roast and not pulled correctly. You cannot get a quick drink or bite to eat of....anything so do not expect to pull up, run in and leave. Not gonna happen. Be prepared to wait whether it be in line, or for fresh coffee to be made because they forgot, or until the team members decide to get your drink, or get off their phones or stop discussing personal foible's with each other. Also, sometimes your are seen, but they might decide to go into the back without a word. You will be standing in front of them, but you might as well not be there until they decide they are ready. Just know it will take its own sweet time and lean in. Wonky baked goods - sometimes they are phenomenal- I'm looking at you, flaky spinach croissant, and other times stale and past it's prime (croissant, bagels). Messy, dirty tables, I have seen the dining area clean 1x. Need anything else after you receive your order? Are they out of napkins and you have to ask? Cream or milk? Get back in line and hope they see you. The Kicker: Not having prices on the menu board. Sure they have prices, but not on the large menu board hanging over the registers. Prices are on a paper menu sometimes by the register or floating around, and you have to hunt for it. Also staff is unsure of prices, look hard for that menu. The nutshell: I wanna love you Barrio! You make it so hard. There is little if any real movement behind the counter until they are good and ready, no posted prices, it is messy inside and the handcrafted drinks taste like burned grounds. Also, I'm offended at being charged extra for a decaf. Three times. If you are alright with those things, then yes, enjoy this lovely place in a great neighborhood with an artsy vibe.

Yelp
This place is such a vibe! I feel like you can come here to do homework/work, coffee date, brunch, enjoy entertainment or just have a chill day sippin' on some coffee or munching on some pastries. Located in the Land Park area with lots of parking to offer. This establishment is decently sized and bigger than most coffee shops I've been offering indoor and outdoor seating. For beverages they serve coffee, tea, Italian soda, lemonade, and even alcohol like mimosas and sangria. Hungry? They also offer several different options of breakfast sandwiches, bagels, quiches and lots of pastries! I ordered the Barrio breakfast sandwich with potatoes (you can choose between a side salad or potatoes) and Carmelita with oat milk! When they brought me food oh my! It was more than I was expecting as far as size goes. I loved it and I highly recommend the Carmelita with oat milk too. It wasn't too strong, but it tasted delicious! My friend ordered an espresso and bagel with artichoke spread and bacon on top- she loved it and we were both head over heels over the spread. What else makes this spot unique is the live music. I am not sure if anyone is allowed to sing or play on the piano or if one has to sign a roster for it, but it really set the tone and made the experience more enjoyable non the less. The service was good as well. For our drinks and meals I paid i believe $33, money well spent. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
While on our way to Wente Scout Reservation in Willits, CA, we realized it was 2:30 pm, and we hadn't had lunch. A quick search for coffee shops open at 3pm Friday in Sacramento near I-5, resulted in a bunch of Starbucks, a Philz, a Dutch Brothers, and Barrio. We have a preference for supporting local businesses, so we went to Barrio. We ordered a chicken empanada, bacon breakfast burrito, veggie breakfast burrito, Vietnamese iced nitro cold brew coffee, turmeric and ginger iced soy latte, soy iced latte. It came out to $51 plus tip. Chicken empanada - pastry was hard and crunchy, not flaky style. The shredded chicken was dry, but really tasty. Might get again. Burritos - they screwed up the bacon burrito, which ended up being chorizo. I'm not a fan, but my husband didn't mind, even though it's not what he wanted. Veggie burrito was bomb. Lots of egg, mushroom, spinach and onion. Lattes - bomb. All three were delish and came unsweetened. Add your own sweetener bar, complete with liquid cane sugar, sugar free vanilla, raw sugar, granulated sugar, etc. We got iced drinks, 24 oz. Paper straws. Lots of seating for hanging out, sipping drinks, munching on breakfast or lunch, and working on your laptop. Shaded and pleasant outdoor seating area with potted plants. Single restroom in the back of the dining room. Spacious parking lot and a bike rack in front, so your car and/or bike can be in your line of sight. Barrio is located next to a nail salon and friendly massage, and around the parking lot from SF Shun Fat Supermarket. Near a community library.

Yelp
The lattes were delicious! Could have used a little more cinnamon but other than that amazing! The empanada and sauces were a 12/10! Both of the baristas that helped me were really nice and patient! Despite the long line they were really fast. Definitely coming back and enjoying something there.

Yelp
10:30a.m. saturday. Great neighborhood joint with a chill vibe, Michael Jackson playing in the background. Lots of great choices on the menu, sweet and/or savory. Fancy local bread, $12 a loaf. This time I chose a veggies breakfast burrito to go. They forgot my order, so after 15 minutes or so, I checked in and reminded them I was waiting. It was cooked within 2 minutes. At home, had a leisurely lunch of veggies breakfast burrito. Super cheesy, with red chile, spinach, mushrooms and cheese on a flour tortilla. Good taste, definitely generously large. Ultimately satisfying.

Yelp
Loved barrio and love Venus. The ube my valentine is a great seasonal drink. My go to is always an iced Carmelita with oatmilk. The empanadas are always a hit

Yelp
Friendly staff, nice music in the background, almond croissant and hot chocolate were perfect, can't go wrong with this place. Will be back.

Yelp
Yummy breakfast spot tucked away behind the post office in South Land Park. Enjoyed the most delicious smoked salmon bagel sando with crunchy pickled red onions and capers! The almond croissant was flaky and soft. Plenty of indoor seating, come early before they sell out!

Yelp
Really cool hidden gem in what is an otherwise run down looking shopping center. We visited for brunch on a Saturday, and it was busy but there was still plenty of seating. It was a very casual, laid back vibe. You could tell some of the guests were regulars by how the baristas knew their names, and that gave this place a welcoming, community feel. The staff was very friendly and nice to interact with. They have a good variety on their menu although they were out of quiche and their signature empanadas. We opted for the breakfast sandwich and burrito. We also tried their iced nitro brewed Vietnamese coffee and the iced Carmelita. We sat on the patio which is dog friendly. We've been trying to visit more dog friendly restaurants to socialize our pup, and this was a good one because it wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of space. As far as the food and drink orders go- Vitenamese coffee was like 3/5. Have definitely had better. This was a bit watered down. Carmelita made up for it though. 5/5. The breakfast sandwich was delicious although messy in the croissant. The breakfast burrito was good, but the salsa verde that came on the side tasted like salad dressing. So much so that I wonder if they mixed up the sauce containers. No spice at all either. Overall, it was a good experience, and I think we'll come back. I'd like to try some other items on their menu. Hopefully they'll have the empanadas available next time we're there!
google avatar

Yelp
Line moves quickly with plenty of space to sit indoors and out. We enjoyed the turkey apricot and provolone croissant. The empanadas were good but a bit bready. Had to ask for part of our order twice, but would still return!
google avatar

Michael U.

Yelp
Bring back Barrio! Went in last Wednesday at lunch time. The place was dead with only one table occupied. Where is the quiche and the chocolate chip cookies? I want the old menu and atmosphere.

Yelp
I made my way to Venus Taproom with my mom this morning to grab a cup of coffee and a pastry. Upon entering this cute little coffee shop we were greeted by their barista Anna and Christa (I think that was her name!) delightful smiles from the ladies behind the counter. Anna helped us navigate the coffee menu and listed the available pastries. My mom decided on a latte and I had a Mexican Coffee (hot chocolate) and we both decided on the almond croissant, it had lovely layers of crispy butter flaky crust and a lovely almond paste filling with a light dusting of powdered sugar, the perfect accompaniment to our coffees. Service was amazing as I said and we definitely will be back to visit this little jewel tucked away! Kudos to the ladies working this morning, they made the morning a bit brighter and a bit warmer! Thank you both for making my first visit so inviting!

Yelp
We had the Barista Dre and they did a wonderful job. The food and coffee was pretty good. The WiFi was not the best so we could not study but the tables were big enough to study.

Yelp
I stopped in for a "pick me up" at about 3pm this past Monday. I'm definitely not a regular. I frequent the business maybe once a month. So I walked in and stood at the counter. There were no employees around. No problem. I waited patiently....and waited. Finally an older Hispanic gentleman comes out of the back (I'm pretty sure he's the owner). He's sees me but doesn't say hi/welcome. He doesn't call an employee to help me. He also doesn't offer to help me himself. He proceeded to walk out the front doors and BS with a couple of guys eating at an outdoor table. I wait some more... Finally a young Hispanic guy comes to the register and I'm finally able to order my Caramalita. The absolute lack of customer service from the owner himself prompts me to write this review with a one star rating. I would love nothing more than to support local business. However, the owner of Barrio should either close up shop (because he doesn't give a crap) or learn what customer service means.

Anderson T.

Yelp
Cool place to hang out and work. The baristas are very friendly. I appreciate their empanda and pastry selection as well, they are very good and reasonably priced. However, the coffee is pretty terrible as it is extremely dark and possibly over-roasted and/or over-extracted. I also do not appreciate that the WiFi password is "buy something", which I feel is passive-aggressive and not welcoming. Seems like the owner thinks it is a funny joke, but it is not nice when someone has to ask what the WiFi password is only to have the staff say "buy something." Not cool to the staff or the customers.
google avatar

Greg S.

Yelp
This is such a great neighborhood coffee shop. The food and drinks are excellent as well as the customer service. I'd love to see more locally owned coffee shops in our city.

Yelp
After waiting an hour, we asked for a refund. The supervisor refunded $21.00 on a $34.51 bill. We did get our drinks, a drip coffee and a Capuchino ($8.25). When I asked her to return the tip (18%) ($5.26), she said she did not have any options on the return screen to punch that in. She could only punch in food/drink items. I then said Well, I'll bring this refund receipt with me next time, and you can give me a free drink. She shrugged her shoulders and said I'll see then what I might do. I took that as a NO, too bad. My goodness, there was a tip jar right next her overflowing with cash. My husband thinks this is the worst customer service he's encountered in his 73 years. We also noticed that the receipt had no sales tax on it, although this was an eat-in order. I doubt we will return to Barrio.

Caroline R.

Yelp
Could be a one off- had an hour and was looking for a relaxing experience. I ordered a cold coffee and premade sandwich - heated. Only one in line and waited 10 minutes (I timed it) for someone to take my order at the counter. 15 minutes later got the sandwich. When I was finished I went to the counter to ask about my coffee to find out they had thrown the tag out. Had to take my drink to go. Pretty disappointing.

Yelp
Had their pepperoni pizza 2 nights ago and it was excellent. The crust was probably the best I've had in a long time. There's really nothing like it in town. Would highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
This is s solid place to go meet with a friend, or two, for tea or coffee, for breakfast or lunch.. They have very good sandwiches. They use their homemade foccacia bread for the sandwiches. For breakfast, try their homemade bagels. They are quite good! Their sidewalk/patio is dog-friendly. They usually have good local brewery fare on tap, so you can come here for that sort of refreshment, too.
google avatar

Yasmin A.

Yelp
Cute coffee spot. We got a churro latte and a cardamom and honey latte. Both were good! The churro latte was a bit sweeter than the other. We also got a chicken tings empanada. It was good but I wish it had more filling. It was more dough than anything. I got a brioche cinnamon roll to go which I haven't fully eaten yet but it smells and tasted delicious from the tiny bite I took so far

Yelp
We love this local coffee shop! Finally got to try the pizza and it was delicious and the Cesar salad was also so good!

Yelp
4 stars for food, but can't say the same about our coffee this time around :( First off, my Barrio breakfast croissant sandwich was DELICIOUS! It came out warm and the croissant was so flaky. I am not a huge scrambled egg fan but these eggs were probably some of the best I've had - so fluffy and moist! The sauce on it was the cherry on top. I could eat one of those every day! My husband's "green eggs and ham" bagel with avocado mash was also super yummy and I liked that you can pick which fresh bagel you want. On to the drinks.. I wanted to get the fog latte but iced, and he said they couldn't do that since it's steeped hot. I know it's possible since plenty of other shops do iced tea lattes, just might take a while so the tea doesn't melt the ice.. not to mention I've had an iced matcha here before, unless that one is premade. but oh well, I rushed and picked something else - the Irish cream. I thought it was a creamy drink but turned out to be an iced coffee with whipped cream on top. It was way too watery for my taste. My husband got their "Vietnamese" coffee which was an iced coffee with condensed milk drizzled around the cup - super super bitter and not reminiscent of a Vietnamese coffee at all. I don't remember the drinks to be this bad last time so I'm hoping we just picked the wrong ones or maybe they weren't made up to standard. I still want to return because of the yummy food but I'll definitely be selective about the drink choice next time.

Yelp
I wanted something filling but not heavy and that's exactly what I got. The barrio breakfast sandwich was not over saturated with egg, and was well paired with crispy honey bacon, turkey, cheese, (not cheddar which was the best part), spinach and tomato. Very well put together. The croissant was crispy on the outside and light inside, not doughy like most croissants. The dining room was quiet and comfortable, and not busy but I sat outside to enjoy the air. They have a lovely assortment of plants to sit next to! I also had the Vietnamese coffee, for the first time and although it was yummy, it wasn't for me. Excited to go back as they have many options for coffee.

Yelp
A coworker brought some of Barrio's empanadas for a meeting and they were so delicious and flavorful! If you're going to get them, the pickled sauces are amazing. Mind you, they are not your typical empanadas, but are an Indian-fusion fare. Think curry, chickpeas, like chana masala pockets... So I decided to take my hubby after shopping at Shun Fat (gotta get my Asian groceries while I'm at it!). There were some boardgames and toys for my son to enjoy. I ordered a cardamom latte. The coffee is great here. Not all sugared up like Starbucks. Looks like an artists' hangout. There are definitely a few regulars. Walking in it felt like it was Land Park's version of "Central Perk" with lots of seating. On their Instagram there are a few open mics and music every so often. If I lived closer, I'd check it out!

Yelp
Barrio is my new go to place for a coffee and bakery I can't believe this place is so good and tucked away on the corner of this plaza. They have a lot of varieties and coffee. Additionally, a lot of signature drinks that you don't get at other places. Sitting here, sipping my coffee is very enjoyable as the decorations and ambience of this place is legit. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Recommended! Pros: cool, coffee, friendly, local Cons: off the beat Stars: 4.5

Yelp
This place is disgusting. Check my photos for video proof. Back when it opened, I brought my young daughter here & a guy in the kitchen was being all loud, talking about all sorts of filth & random stuff using F bombs left & right, and other assorted obscenities. I told someone there was a child in the dining room, but he didn't care. So we left & had not been back in several years. This week we returned for the first time in probably seven years. I was waiting on my drink and noticed FLIES on the quiche!!! Ew! I thought I'd be safe from anything harmful since I was getting a coffee drink, but no. A few hours after I drank it, I got very sick & my body could not purge that drink quickly enough. We will never come back here ever.

Yelp
The staff is unkind and the food and drinks are inconsistent. This coffee shop was much better when it was barrio. They should stick to what they know. They should also train their staff to treat customers better. I wish I could say I will keep coming back but I will not.

Yelp
Recently, Barrio has been broken into 3 times over the past several months. Owner Sergio lost a total of $15,000 which includes a smashed front door window, his bicycle, his tools and $3000.00 cash. https://www.gofundme.com/f/stand-with-sergio-to-restore-barrio

Yelp
I remember when we went here it was very nice. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting and the place was packed. The cafe felt very European inspired but there were many hints of Hispanic culture. There was a day of the dead altar and the names of food items had Mexican inspo. I do not recall the sandwiches that we ordered but whatever they were, they were really good. I ordered a latte from the fall menu, the churro latte, which was AMAZING. I don't remember what my companion got but he said it was equally as good! While we were there there was also a singer singing a cappella, which added a nice hint to it. Highly recommend this little hidden gem and try out their lattes! So good

Yelp
We tried this place for the first time and I'm so glad that we did. We ordered bagel sandwiches. The California (which is served open faced) and the barrio ( served closed) both delicious but the California was phenomenal. Very fresh! We also got iced coffees and a quiche to share which were both really good as well!! The staff was friendly and their seating area was clean and cutely decorated. We may have found our new favorite coffee shop that actually has good breakfast

Yelp
Great Coffee shop in South Land Park. I'm from a few miles away in Land Park, so I haven't explored out here much. Someone recommended this coffee shop on Facebook. They were 100% correct. Nice spot, laid-back environment, some really good food options, and good coffee!!
