Since my last dreadful experience, I've been heading back to the bar twice on Sundays to indulge in a few drinks and savor their delicious tacos. The last two Sundays have been absolutely fantastic! The place has a new manager who's been putting in a lot of effort to make positive changes. Despite previous skepticism, I've spoken to numerous people over the past two weeks who have all had outstanding experiences. It looks like things are definitely on the up! Wow, the service at this place is absolutely fantastic! They really go above and beyond to make sure their customers have an amazing experience. The food is outstanding with such delicious flavors. I love the great atmosphere and the outdoor patio is just perfect. And let's talk about their drinks – always top-notch, and the wine selection is better than what you'd find at some of the bars in the area. This place is a real gem! I will absolutely return for Sunday lunch, and I am looking forward to visiting during the week. As this place continues to improve, it might just become one of my go-to spots. Thank you Kate for the great experience. Thank you also Ariel and Jeremiah for going above and beyond and providing great service. Thank you Kiara for the fun Sunday and the pleasant time at Bario.

Google
Went there for lunch and the food was amazing as well as the drink. It comes out as soon as it is ready in the kitchen so nice and fresh. The hibiscus margaritas hit the right spot on a summer day. The server was attentive and I didn't feel like I was waiting at any moment. Definitely recommend!

Natalia Patterson

Google
Margaritas were tasty but their burrito was pretty flavorless. I picked steak and it was burned and just didn’t taste right. The salsas were spicy but then burrito had no kick whatsoever.

We had a wonderful experience on St. Patricks Day! The corned beef tacos were absolutely amazing! The Scotch egg was so flavorful! I would eat those corned beef tacos year round. If not year round at least maybe for the month of March? Hats off to the Chef that created these! You are truly brilliant and created a masterpiece! What a wonderful St. Patrick's Day menu!

Was just in Friday for lunch. Guacamole is phenomenal the Barrio Margarita and Trinity Margarita are good. We ordered two of each and each was quite different tasting than the previous. Not bad just really inconsistent. I got a pork carnita taco and while good it was tiny for $5. Hearing and reading rave reviews about service have me thinking our experience was an outlier. I think they were busier than they planned for. Wait staff was exceptionally nice but rarely checked in. We ended up with 3 different servers helping us so no one really ever knew what was going on with our orders. I'm sure we'll be back though. Definitely worth a second shot!

Google
I LOVE Barrio. One of my goto places for tacos, guac and chips, and very tasty margaritas! It is a bit pricier than the usual I would say, but their food is worth the price in my opinion. Especially the margaritas. Made just perfect every time and super refreshing. Only downfall is the parking is terrible. It's downtown Saint paul and you're either fighting for street parking and pay the meter, or have to go park and pay in the ramp.

Google
Ordered delivery and this is what I received for my $16 dollar chicken enchiladas. They were sent in a smashed up 9x13 tin pan. Obviously arrived cold. The chef should absolutely embarrassed for serving this to a customer.

Greg Deyo

Google
Rated the best margaritas in Minnesota and they don't disappoint. The Black Diamond was awesome. The menu is very limited but I had some fantastic Ahi Tuna Tacos. I wish I didn't have to drive so far so I could try more of the margaritas and some of the tequilas. The service was good, friendly and attentive. This is my second time there and I can't wait to go back again.

Yelp
The food and service is so good! Everything hits. Great late night bite. Chill ambience.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this restaurant while in Saint Paul. The restaurant is more of a bar style restaurant. Upon entering we had to wait for someone to notice and seat us. They seem busy but the restaurant was maybe only 1/2 full at the time. Chips and salsa: not one of those restaurants that offer complimentary chips and salsa but there was a deal to add it with the burrito so that's what we did. I think they are homemade chips which was good. Crispy and crunchy. Sauce is typical mild salsa. Steak burrito: definitely worth the price. The burrito is big as you can see. It came with a small guac and pico which was great to dip with our side of chips. Tacos: steak and shrimp were both mediocre to be honest. The portion isn't really worth the price. It's a little smaller than I thought and not fully loaded like a local mom and pops taco place. But hey, it was kind of expected. Yuca fries: the Chimichurri sauce was what made us got this. Our expectation was higher than the actual side. Portion def small for price. It was greasy and oily. The sauce was mediocre again. It's crispy at least. Overall, a nice place to hang if you want some good drinks and snack food. If you're going for the food, probably not the best place for me. Our waiter was attentive and checked on us a couple time. I think the seating process could be a little better.

Yelp
I am just sad the service is so different every time we go,the food is always good and remains the exact same. Waited at the host table for five minutes, then at the table for 12 minutes before even got a drink order in sad at the really lack of service. We got told by a food server they brought our appetizer to a different table so it's gonna be a second till we get it. What a mess.

Rachel F.

Yelp
Our server was so kind and fun. The food was top tier and you actually get a good amount of guac when you order! Extra chips are only $1. Only downside is the parking situation. Street parking is tough. But, the vibes are good and they have both indoor and outdoor seating!

Felix Z.

Yelp
Ate here many years ago and the food was good. I ordered enchiladas, a tamale, and burrito today. The enchiladas (3 minimally stuffed) rolled enchiladas placed in a 9x13 inch tin pan with a hole in the top arrived from Grub Hub. Obviously placing 3 small items in a huge pan is not going to keep them warm. It looks like they tried to bend the pan in half so the food didn't just fly around so the pan arrived looking like somebody sat on it. The tamale was just a large cold blob of masa. Most upset because at this price point I expect at least properly packaged food even if the flavors were not to my liking. There are much better and economical Mexican restaurants around the Saint Paul area. Would avoid this location, in particular would avoid it for takeout or delivery.

Yelp
Really good food and drinks! I came here for lunch and got the sandwich cubano and it tasted pretty good. My only complaint is that it took quite awhile to get our food and drinks.

A Marie J.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Had some light bites. Queso Fundido and the Fried Chicken Flautas. The food came out fast and hot. The drinks are pretty good. Noticed the bartenders follow a recipe sheet for the drinks. No big deal. Nice vibes here. Definitely recommend.

David H.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch with friends and enjoyed it. The mezcal old fashioned was unique and tasty, the smoky flavor went well and I'd recommend giving it a try. The grilled steak taco and the carnitas taco were both enjoyable and filling without being too much food. The guacamole for the table was also fresh and tasty. Service was really friendly and I'd recommend this place for a drinks or a tex-mex meal if you're in downtown St. Paul.

Yelp
We went to Barrio before the Saint's Game last Saturday. We knew it would get busy close to the game so we went earlier around 4 so we could enjoy our time a bit more before the rush. It was pretty slow for a bit, but then a few more ppl came in closer to 5 to enjoy dinner. It took awhile for our drinks to get to the table but they were super good! I ordered the mama cita marg and would definitely recommend! After getting our drinks, we ordered food. We had everything from street tacos to burritos to quesadillas. They took a really long time to come out but it was pretty good quality. While waiting for our food, our server never came back to our table to check on us. No water refills, no new drink orders. It was like she completely forgot she was serving us. Another server came out with our food, but it was only half. By the time a few people had finished their meals, a few of us still did not have our meals. I had to wave our server over to let her know. She checked on the food and did not apologize but said "we didn't forget about your order, some things just take longer than others". I get a few extra minutes for some items but it was at least 15 or maybe longer. So we had empty water, empty drinks and half our table had been served food. It even took us waving down another server to get our checks. Very disappointing. The food was good but if you're looking for quality service I would not recommend.

Deanie H.

Yelp
Came here for a quick drink with friends that live across the street. Service was great. Our sever recommended the black diamond - which I've had before - delicious! Drinks are about $10-12. They have small bites like tacos, and chips and dip if you're not in the mood for a full meal. A bit pricey for that in my opinion.

Chelle D.

Yelp
I had the pleasure to have lunch at the St Paul spot as well as the Minneapolis location! Both places were great! Hands down best food I've had in MN! Barrio makes the best sauces to compliment the dishes! Get ready for great taste and a little heat with every bite. Our servers at both locations were so nice! The bartender even custom made 3 different drinks going above and beyond for us! Thank you for a great lunch!

Eric M.

Yelp
With exquisite taste and good atmosphere no wonder that the barrio gives the authentic flavor you're looking for.

Lindsay F.

Yelp
I really don't understand why anybody would ever want to come here. It's one of those gringo traps. The food is so very overpriced and not even all that good considering the portion size. When you come here, do not expect to find anything on the menu that is less than five dollars, with exception of "Acqua Panna..." springwater in a bottle that is made by a company from Italy. $12 for a side of guacamole? $6.50 for one taco? Pretty much sure that you are paying for the "ambience" and truly caters to the 9 to 5 workers in downtown St. Paul who need to find a happy hour to go to, and don't want to think about where to go so just what the heck, why not just go to barrio. And the foods aren't even all that original nor out of this world. Considering that there are so many different great Mexican and Latin American food restaurants in the Twin Cities, I have no idea why this place is still so popular. Don't get me wrong, food isn't disgusting or anything, and service is decent (not bad and also not amazing), but I cannot find a reason to justify the price.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Pre-pandemic, Barrio was always a favorite for happy hour or dinner so I was excited to visit with some girlfriends. Either it's changed, or I changed because the experience was disappointing. The good: Their chips and salsa are wonderful. The chips are the right amount of crispy, with a hint of salt. The range of salsas would suit any palate. My companions ordered a few of the carnivorous tacos and thought they were excellent. The Fried Yuca were crisped to perfection. The shrimp taco was superb - grilled to perfection and the perfect hint of seasoning. Our server was also delightful and super helpful. The meh: The beverages were uninspiring. The house margarita was a slight step above what you might get at a chain restaurant, but not much. It tasted primarily like bar sour. I did not even pick up a hint of tequila. I decided to switch up to a pricier margarita, but at nearly twice the price, the "Up in Smoke" was also disapointed. I could pick up the smokiness of the mezcal, but the fruit juice was too overpowering, so it was like a smoky fruit juice. WIth both beverages, it appeared that they wanted to fill the glass to the brim so they went heavy on the bar sour/juice. I'd rather have a smaller drink and enjoy flavor complexity. One of my companion ordered the sangria and was equally disappointed. It appeared to have come from a bottle, with none of the fruit one would expect. The drinks were always my main reason for visiting, so this was really disappointing. The Bad: I'm a vegetarian and I love Brussels sprouts. I was excited to see them on the menu and even more excited that there was no mention of meat in the dish. Just to be safe, I asked the waiter and he said there was no meat. Needless to say I was not happy when my Brussels sprouts came out and I discover after eating one sprout that there was pork throughout the dish that had been cooked together with the sprouts, rendering it uneatable. The server was a bit horrified because last time he had served it had been vegetarian. He told us that he would be buying the dish because of the mistake. I don't blame him, but I am extremely disappointed with the management. If there's pork in a dish it should be clearly labeled on the dish. The manager was there, and probably should have come over to speak with us. I really hope that they did not make that poor server pay for a management mistake.

Yelp
I came here with my friend on a Thursday evening. We started the evening off with the Barrio margaritas and chips and salsa. The barrio margaritas were really good and I am still craving them. The chips and salsa were also great and came with a selection of salsas to dip your chips into. I ordered the shrimp taco, the barrio taco, and the mahi mahi fish taco. The mahi mahi taco was really nice but the other two were not my favorite. The shrimp taco came with 3 charred shrimp and the barrio taco was good but not the best for my taste buds. My friend got the burrito with beef and really enjoyed. It was a nice evening we were able to sit outside and the service was great! I will definitely be coming back for drinks and appetizers.

Arianna T.

Yelp
I'm shocked to see that this place is only rated 3 stars here. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by very friendly waitresses. Our chips and guac arrived relatively fast and it did not disappoint. The guac fresh and vibrant in flavor and was plated beautifully and sparked up all of our appetites. The chips that came with it were crunchy and had a nice flavor as well and they complimented each other nicely. We also ordered queso as an appetizer but it took longer than some of the main courses to come out. Chicken quesadilla was DELICIOUS but had a minimal amount of cheese. The flavor was well balanced, though, and the serving included a whopping 4 triangle cuts. Tacos, on the other hand, only included 1 small taco per order. Overall, most of the orders were large enough to split between multiple people. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant was very empty around the time we arrived which was about 1-1:30. Main courses took a while to arrive but it was so worth it and The waitress forgot one of our orders but she was easy to remove that order from our final bill and it was solved quickly. Visit this restaurant if you have the time and make sure you're not hangry because you have to wait for the food. There were minimal details about the restaurant that took off points on my review, but I recommend this restaurant for the food.

Nekhrun I.

Yelp
Service is spotty and they're really committed to bringing food out whenever so eating with your friends and family is hit or miss. Some are finished before other food comes out. If you eat it while it's hot, the food is great!

Travis H.

Yelp
Love coming here for a meal and drinks if your exploring lowertown in St. Paul. The drinks are good and strong and the food is authentic with lots of flavor. This place is smaller than the Minneapolis location but that makes it better I think. During the week they even have a taco buffet, you will not leave hungry!! Lots of parks to walk to after dinner and maybe you can catch a Saint Paul Saints game, it's only a couple blocks away!! Parking is all pay lots and street so you'll have to pay.

Mikayla K.

Yelp
I highlyyyyy recommend their tequila flights. It's a great way to try new tequilas and also casually take shots on a Tuesday night? Their chips and guac is huge, definitely shareable at a table of four. They have good, prompt service too. I wasn't wildly impressed by my food, but I would definitely come here again for the vibe of being downtown and having a good strong drink and some chips and guac.

Chelsea R.

Yelp
I stopped in to barrio Lowertown today unfortunately there was an issue with the kitchen which left it pretty much out of commission. We were greeted and seated in a timely manner. We were offered chips and salsa and got drinks pretty quickly. However, it was HOT in there and I could only imagine how uncomfortable the staff had to be. I ended up leaving because I couldn't in good faith order food let alone enjoy it in the climate. I could only give 2/5 stars because the food handling and ethics of work staff felt at risk.

Sam S.

Yelp
Ordered take out. Yes many things affect takeout quality and consistency and some of that is on the customer like time to pickup etc. However, when it's small plates with medium prices I expect more consideration around how the food will taste. Or at least an effort to try to match the restaurant experience. We ordered: 1) chips and salsa (best thing in this order, salsas we're tasty, chips were fresh made, $4) 2) chicken enchiladas, three tiny rolled enchiladas, soppy tortillas, chicken was well cooked but flavorless, smothered in sauce and cotija cheese. You could only taste the room temperature semi melted cheese and it was bland ($17) 3) chicken quesadilla, again, chicken was well cooked, more flavorful just soggy from the takeout container/steam (a little unavoidable, $14). 4) steak taco, again steak was flavorfully and well prepared, "fixings" were half melted, soppy, and detracted from the taco $7). Pro tip, separate the goopy things, because it's better that customers have to rebuild the dish than get a cold, floppy, distasteful version of it. In times of high inflation, post COVID where people are really trying to support small local businesses you need to step it up. This is the second time I've been to your establishment in 3 weeks and the food has been disappointing.

Marisa

Yelp
We waited 40 minutes for our food, and it never came. I thought there was a delay because it was somewhat busy, however when we saw that the table next to us got their food and they had been there for less than 20 minutes, that did it for me!!! I got my family and left. I'm really disappointed!!!

Javi N.

Yelp
We rode our bikes from Minneapolis to St.Paul and based on photos we wanted some chilaquiles and barrios seemed like they had what we wanted. Once here the food was okay. Cuban was decent and the steak place was nothing to brag about. The Mezcal drink was the highlight of the day and we ended up taking the train back home. Our experience was not what we expected.

Nathan H.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my three year anniversary with my girlfriend. Was immediately treated by a friendly waitstaff, and were served in a timely manner. The ambiance was well lit for an evening meal, and it was nice and warm to warm us up from the cold winter outdoors. My girlfriend and I both ordered Black Diamond Margaritas, at the recommendation of our waiter's favorite cocktail, and it was delicious! We also ordered salsa and chips as an appetizer and we liked them so much we got a second order of chips! They are made in the restaurant so they are nice and crunchy and have a nice homemade salty flavor. Paired very well with the salsas. Lastly I ordered a Sandwich Cubano and it was also very delicious. Food is 10/5 at this restaurant, and we will definitely be coming back.

Jean J.

Yelp
The issue with the inaccesible skyway has been resolved. :) The locked door has been unlocked. I was there today for lunch. I was warmly greeted. Great food, great service, great people. And a special thank you to Manager Parker for taking such good care of me. I am looking forward to coming back again soon. :)

Brody C.

Yelp
God awful service, bland food/menu for what you expect it to have. Staff watched as a homeless guy was bothering us in there for 15-20 minutes without saying anything but "thanks for dealing with that" after he finally left. And still proceeded to start walking away without giving us any service without asking, our food came 5 minutes before our first beverage. Extremely overrated

John C.

Yelp
I recently went to Barrio for a farewell lunch for a coworker. We were pretty surprised that their space was almost completely empty during the lunch hour. Might be a combination of folks working from home and the fact that it was snowing that day. Overall service was good, their street tacos are on the spendy side but come overloaded with goodness. The food was good, but not great. I had the Mahi Mahi taco and the pork belly taco. Of the two the Mahi Mahi was much better. Overall just an "okay" experience!

Judy O.

Yelp
Tacos were excellent. Guacamole was great. Margarita selections were fun. Highly recommend if you're looking for above average Mexican food with a creative flair.

Susannah C.

Yelp
Go for the chips and guac and drinks! The Black Diamond margarita is my all time fave (pictured). Chips and guacamole are amazing. I would head here for apps and drinks, the tacos are okay but not the best I've had. I tried the shrimp taco and mahi mahi taco - both were good but nothing outstanding.

Sarah E.

Yelp
Barrio's chips and salsa by the pint is the perfect thing to bring for summer hang outs! The bag of chips is MASSIVE

June H.

Yelp
Love this place. The ambiance is nice and the food is flavorful. The tacos are small so get 6 of them.

Savannah D.

Yelp
I come here for their amazing margaritas tbh- the food is just ok to me. Like I like it but I'd never come here just to eat, ya know? I personally think they add too much ice to their drinks but that still won't stop me from coming here and getting them lol You can find better places to eat for cheaper downtown but you won't find a better margarita

Cory H.

Yelp
Busy street of restaurants so you need to stand out from the crowd, the crowd outside is what drew us to this place. After waiting about 20 minutes we finally got seated at an outside table. 15 minutes goes by and finally the waitress comes over to take our drink orders. I honestly understand since it is the jazz festival going on and all the tables are taken and it appears that she is one of two waitress for the outside tables (about 10 tables). Finally ordered drinks and they came out very fast! Drinks are reasonably priced with beers ranging from We started with the appetizers, being that we did not have lunch we opted to try all 3 (Guacamole, Signature Salsas and Queso). Guacamole is very creamy the jalapenos give it a nice little kick but not overwhelming, I love chunky tomatoes in mind and this had some but could always have more, now the salsas. The plate was put down and the waiter walked away, it would have been nice for him to explain which was which. The clock ticked away while we waited for the queso (10 minutes it arrived). We asked for additional chips and were told it was a dollar extra for chips, hmmm that's very weird to me, especially coming from NYC where they don't charge extra for chips. The queso arrived and was amazing!!!! Instead of being served with chips its served with grilled tortilla shells, so good. I ordered the chicken and steak tacos and my wife ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos. Both tacos were amazing and full of flavor, the flavors are layered so as you bite and get thru it you taste the freshness of the flavors was noticable but subdued and could have been more transparent with less. The Mahi Mahi tacos were fried to perfection but also topped with multiple level of flavors. The dessert menu is simple but has churros. So they were under cooked and when they were dropped off the waiter told us the chocolate was very watery. They could have used more cinnamon and sugar also Truth be told we almost left after being seated when I found mold on the paper menu, sounds minor but if you have mold growing on a paper menu what else is going on in the kitchen, but I stayed for my wife and was happy we did.

Ashley T.

Yelp
The best food I had in St.Paul! I highly recommend the steak plate and the chicken enchiladas! The salad was delicious and the yucca fries were on point! So good.

Roman S.

Yelp
Don't print "Made to Order Guacamole" on your menu if you CAN'T make it as requested without onions!

Jeff K.

Yelp
When I see a la carte tacos on the menu, I get worried. No need to worry here! Tacos were delicious and packed to the gills. Great flavor all around, but the Brussel sprouts stole the show. They are must order. Had the Micheldo which was spicy and refreshing. Chips were a little salty, but didn't matter cause the trio of salsa were al outstanding. Watch out for the habenero! After a bit of a slow start, service picked up and food was out quickly. Look forward to returning.

J T.

Yelp
I thought I would be getting classic Mexican with the fixings. But this place is a very nice tequila bar with some high end pricy Mexican food. Not what I thought it would be.

Tracym ..

Yelp
3x in a month visit as we just love the food drinks and character of this place. Worth the drive from our hometown. Favorites-mezcal old fashioned, spicy shrimp, corn soup, guacamole, yummy salads. You can't pick a loser

S J.

Yelp
You will get whacked with a 4% hospitality charge that goes to cover additional costs for them to be open. There is no getting around it, and you will be responsible for it. Why do I have to pay above and beyond for my meal so you can "remain open?" Furthermore, how is it you're insisting on me paying this erroneous fee, but no one at this establishment was able to explain to me what it was or to what it goes. This fee is listed in very TINY print near the bottom of the menu.

Shelby M.

Yelp
I had had so many good times here over the years. Man! Do I miss the dance floor... stupid covid! The food is still great those. Tacos and elite are my favorite. Wash it down with a beer. The patio was packed. The sidewalk is the patio so it's nothing to write home about. We sat inside in a awkward spot in the back far away from everyone else. We were forgotten about for a long while which eliminates a star. I had tacos and elote (on the cob style) it was messy but tasty.

Emerson H.

Yelp
The salsa varieties are great and the chips are delicious. The grilled chicken burrito is excellent. Tacos and drinks are a little pricey

Nicole G.

Yelp
We found this place on accident while exploring the area while we were visiting for a wedding over a weekend. We had a group of five and got here at about 11:00 PM on a Friday and there was no wait to get in. The bar was packed and took about 15 minutes to get a drink. The music was poppin' but the dance floor was even more. There was a WIDE variety of music played which brought a diverse group of people together. Fun! I think I literally ran to the dance floor when Sauvemente came on. At times the dance floor got a little crowded but our group found a high top table so we were fine with posting up there. The bar atmosphere was really unique! I loved the full wall of vintage wrestling masks- cool feature. The bar was fully stocked and we had fun here. We'll be back if we're ever in the area again!

Margaret B.

Yelp
Service was perfect. Food was delicious. We got the pork carnitas burrito and mahi mahi tacos. Everything so delicious

Samantha B.

Yelp
Barrio is a good place for happy hour. They have good drinks & okay appetizers. The waiters are honest - they will tell you which menu items to stay away from. The restaurant is clean and it's nice to sit outside during warm months. Here is what prevents me from giving them my business. I was at the restaurant for happy hour and forgot my sunglasses there. I called the next day and the manager assured me she set them aside in a safe place because she noticed the brand and knew they were expensive. Two days later I show up to pick up my sunglasses and they are nowhere to be found. A few weeks of drawn out phone tag with various employees and managers and turns out, the initial manager who set my sunglasses aside had stolen them. The disappointing part was - management was not willing to take action for their employees lack of ethics. They were unwilling to amend the wrongdoing of their employee. Moral of the story is, their employees steal & they do nothing about it.

Yelp
Visited St Paul December 9th around 2:30 and stopped in to Barrio for a margarita and a bite with my sisters. It wasn't too busy so we went to the bar and grabbed a seat. The bartender walked by multiple times but didn't acknowledge us, look our way, or get menus for at least 15 minutes. The phone rang and no one answered it. It rang over and over annoyingly and not one server or bartender came to answer it. I couldn't believe the poor service. Looking around, it wasn't much better at tables. Customers who sat down after us still didn't have a drink on their table either. There were 3 servers and a bartender and we couldn't get any service. The bartender finally came back and dropped off 3 menus without saying a word and then walked away. He never came back. After over 20 minutes of waiting we finally left. No one seemed to care at all about serving customers. The bartender had a pony tail. Never got his name as he didn't return. Looked to be about 35 years old. Definitely shouldn't be in the service industry. It's too bad Barrio has gotten so bad. Used to be a cool place to go in St Paul. We went next door to The Bulldog which was packed and squeezed in a corner and got served within 5 minutes. Had a great time and good food and service. Won't go back to Barrio.

Yelp
This is one of the best spots around Mears Park. Super friendly staff, tasty drinks, and wonderfully spicy hot sauces.

Yelp
This Barrio location is my go-to for a quick but relaxed sit-down work lunch or a happy hour before a event in Lowertown. For lunch, the lunch special (tacos of rotating variety and chips/salsa) is a great option. For happy hour, the margaritas (unsurprisingly) are excellent. The servers are industry professionals and know what they're doing. Indoor or outdoor seating are both options. Plus a wall full of luchador masks. All the hits!

Yelp
I've been eating at Barrio for over 12 years and it was once my favorite place to go,but the quality has gone downhill at every one of their locations. They charge $5.50 for a hard shell ground beef taco which is insane to me,yet when they were filled properly I don't complain because they use over 50 ingredients for the beef, and I am a sucker for a hard shell taco, but it's happened now to me at the Edina location, downtown, and now the st.Paul location. They don't even fill the taco anymore,it was literally lettuce and some tomato with enough meat to give you the illusion that there's something there but there isn't. I've sent them back each time with hopes that the next time will be different but after this last time I cannot be filled again. I highly recommend Sonora grill,Nicos tacos, taco libre or honestly any other place and you will actually get your monies worth. Don't get me started on how terrible the service was at the St. Paul location,I served myself at the bar, asked for everything, wasn't asked how anything was, never came back after my food was there, just a bummer how downhill this place went.
