"Housed inside a precious cottage, Barrique is a relaxing retreat stocked with more than 55 wines by the glass and 50-plus beer options from craft breweries. There’s also an emphasis on seafood but this kitchen is a self-proclaimed “fried-free zone” — instead, try the escargot, shrimp cocktail, and lump crab cakes." - Naomi Waxman

Shannon K was a wonderful server! She helped us decide on our dinner choices when I asked specific questions about my husband's dietary restrictions and my tastes. She was able to accommodate both! Great view of Geneva Lake and a wonderful selection of wine and delicious dishes!

Google
It's not easy to find restaurants with decent vegan options in Lake Geneva. And this gem is located right on the lake in the downtown area. Love the ambiance. Everyone in my party (vegetarian and omnivore) loved the food. Wine was great too. We'll be back!

Google
Cute, comfy, friendly bistro with a great variety menu, outdoor patio, location across from the beach. All of our drinks and dishes were tasty. We arrived shortly before the lunch rush and were seated inside immediately (too hot to dine outside). It did get noisy when all the tables were full. Service was prompt and accommodating. Try it!

I made a solo visit to Barrique while at a nearby resort craving good seafood. One peek at the menu and I was quickly on my way! I was shocked when walking up, all the other restaurants seemed too busy for anyone, but this one was right on the corner with doors wide open. I feel bad for those that had to wait for and miss out on the great experience ready at this Bistro! The bartender, Vita, welcomed me in, got the bottle of wine I requested, and immediately put in my food order then brought out my soup right after. As stated on the menu, this is not a fast food chain, so the food takes a little longer when cooked fresh, but it is well worth the wait. The Escargot came out pipping hot and was so delicious. I then ordered the crab cake sliders which were actually made with real crab and were so very delicious alongside my chips. I was shocked by the quality of these items as the menu prices were very reasonable! I'd like to thank Barrique, Vita, and her colleagues for welcoming me in and providing such great services and holding such amazing conversation. Thank you!

Google
The food was amazing! The cocktails were even more amazing! Fantastic small plate options for people who live to share. The view of the lake was beautiful. Value for the price point is dead on. Small, intimate environment that could be upgraded for better atmosphere but the food and drinks more than compensate. I ate there while visiting town, but it is the number one place I will insist on visiting when I return!

Went here for dinner, & like most places in Lake Geneva the biggest draw is the location, close to the lakefront we sat outside to watch the water. This place is a wine bar so it has a large selection of wines, but it also has other drinks & the cocktails were pretty good. As food goes it was good but not great, they serve small plates which i usually like but small plates/tapas are usually priced so you can try multiple, these are higher priced so its a good stop if you want something small & light, be prepared to spend a lot if you want to be filled. We started with the raw oysters on the half shell. They were VERY small but clean & fresh. I then got the salmon burger which must be a seasonal item but it was a disapointment, nothing but a patty made out of canned salmon. My SO got the Ahi steak which was done well and had nice flavors. Desert was very good & i dont think you can go wrong there, got the key lime cheesecake. Service was friendly but very slow.

Google
Everything was amazing! The only thing is that the lobster roll wasn’t available, and I would have preferred to know that before seating since it was the main reason I came. Still, everything else was really good!

Google
The food was meh. Escargot could use more herbs and less oil. The tuna steak was tasty, but no sear made me a little sad. The tuna sashimi also had a weird texture. I wanted to love this place but the food was disappointing

Yelp
I arrived right at 11 when they opened. The waitress was very nice and asked if I wanted inside or outside. I sat outside and looked at the lake. Oakfire was playing music over their speaker so it was a nice ambiance. I ordered the jalapeno margarita.... It would've been the best margarita I've ever had if it was bigger and didn't have so much ice. I then ordered a sparkling wine flight which was great. I ordered the beachside salad with chicken. It was delicious, but if you don't like a lot of onions ask for less onions. The goat cheese in this dish is so good. I ordered a bottle of wine to go since I really liked one on the flight. My total was $93 for all of it.

Yelp
I stopped in for dinner and was woefully unimpressed. The atmosphere, view and location are stellar however the food and service are sub par and could use work. When I walked in around 6:30 on a Thursday it wasn't crazy busy yet they needed to clean off a table for me. I ordered the Lobster roll expecting a nice warm southern lobster roll however it came out like cold tuna salad on a toasted bread roll. It also had a fishy taste to it. I ordered the coleslaw as a side and it was a step below grocery store quality. At this price point I would expect an entree to come out warm. Additionally, for a cold lobster roll, it took quite awhile to come out which seems odd. Prior to visiting I walked by and saw through the kitchen window that the cooks were sitting on their phones so I can only assume that the ticket went through but they were too busy on TikTok to read it. Overall the only redeeming quality was the cheesecake and wine.

Yelp
My husband and visited Barrique Wine & Brew Bar one quiet Monday evening before dusk. We sat inside close to a window so we could enjoy the view. It was chilly outside, but their were guests enjoying the lovely patio as well. My husband had a cocktail, I had a cider, and we shared some very yummy baked spinach artichoke dip. It was so cheesy. There were guests around us eating full meals, and the food looked fabulous. There were also guests like us just enjoying beverages and appetizers. The location is small, but very cute, and the staff was so friendly. I can not wait to visit again!

Kate V.

Yelp
A solid 3 stars. My cocktail was excellent, my food was good, but the service was slow, even by resort town busy weekend standards. I took a picture of the feminine products in the restroom. This is a very welcoming touch! I'd go back, but perhaps try again during off hours.

Shelby C.

Yelp
I absolutely loved coming here. We came here on a cold day and the warm vibes in the restaurant were perfect. It's a small restaurant, but we really liked that because it gives an intimate vibe. Our server was great. She gave us great recommendations and was really friendly. I think we ate almost every bite of the food because it was so good. The soup flight is perfect for winter days. The view of the lake is also beautiful.

Denis J.

Yelp
The lobster roll was better than those I've had in New England!! Terrific friendly service, great location, fantastic food and an excellent wine selection.

Pat C.

Yelp
I think I've found the hidden gem of Lake Geneva! Not only does Barrique possess awesome views of the waterfront, but its ambiance and dining experience were top-notch. Food was excellent and portions were very large. Tasty cocktails, too--especially their Old Fashioneds. Wanted to give a special shout-out to our server, who was incredibly friendly and attentive to our party's needs. All-in-all, would highly recommend this restaurant!

Gina A.

Yelp
Loved this spot! Small and very cozy. We had just arrived in Lake Geneva and we're hoping to have a light dinner at our hotel, especially because it was snowing, but the restaurant there was closed for renovations. We ventured out to the Main Street area, made a candle at The Candle Mercantile (and had a quick pre-dinner drink there too - another cool spot!) and then stumbled upon this great place around the corner. They don't take reservations. We walked in at 5:30 and had no problem getting a table. There were a ton of great fish options (it was a Friday during Lent), which were delicious. I had a sparkling wine flight, and my husband had a couple of delicious bourbon cocktails. We shared a handful of appetizer/small plates. The service was great and friendly, and we loved watching the snow fall while we had a tasty meal overlooking the lake. Would definitely return!

Scott R.

Yelp
Best Charcuterie board in the area!! Staff is fully accommodating and worked me in!!! Wine in great supply... dine outside and take in the view of the lake.

Emma S.

Yelp
Sitting right on the shores of Lake Geneva, Barrique is a great place for a late afternoon wine flight and delicious seafood choices. The dinning room is bright and fun, and the windows provide a beautiful view of the lake. Perfect for a weekend get away! My mom and I enjoyed a spa weekend away from the city and this place was perfect for dinner.

Megan B.

Yelp
For sure one of the best mocktails I have ever had, the mango mule was soo good. Crabcake sliders were also great! There was quite a bit of a wait to order and get food, it seems like they staff pretty lightly, but I didn't mind because it's such m a cute shop with a great view of the lake!

sarah t.

Yelp
We haven't been to his place in over 3 years due to the Covid virus in the country. Finally got a chance to return today. I love Lake Geneva Wisconsin. It's such a relaxing and beautiful town. We both ordered the crab cake sliders. They use to be our favorite along with the coleslaw. What a horrible disappointment. The crab cakes were very soft and had no crab flavor at all. The coleslaw had too much mayonnaise. It was very soupy. They changed the menu around and went up on the prices. No big deal with how Covid devastated the restaurant industry. My complaint is about the quality of the food only. The staff were very nice but the food will stop me from returning. So sad Crab Cake Sliders

Kelsey A.

Yelp
Updating because it's my first time going here in person. The ambiance was alright inside and great outside with a wonderful view of the lake. The wine flight option is so fun. I highly recommend the shrimp cocktail, poke, and garlic and bread. The shrimp ceviche was just okay.

June H.

Yelp
This is a very quaint restaurant that has a slight European feel with the small cafe style tables and small corner bar. We visited the restaurant a year or more ago and we were underwhelmed by the food. This experience was completely different and we can't wait to go back and have another charcuterie board.

Karen G.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I just had dinner here on a Thursday evening and it was amazing. Food was delicious and the drinks were top notch. The bartender Vita was super sweet and took great care of us. The apps, main dishes, desserts tasted fresh and were brought out in a timely fashion. We loved the ambiance and food so much we bought a Barrique Wine & Brew Bar hoodie that we're going to treat as our "Sisterhood of the traveling hoodie" sweater. We will go back for sure, thank you!

Christopher R.

Yelp
Came in for a flight on a winter afternoon, we had seafood bisque soup and the artichoke dip with a flight of reds, and all were solid. Afternoon sun over frozen Lake Geneva was wonderful. A small, intimate room, superlative personal service. A real treat!

Cristel M.

Yelp
Great place! Barrique was one of the few places in the area that was open for a late dinner, and we lucked into an open outdoor table when we arrived without a reservation. The staff was busy, but took time answering our questions and made sure to tell us the kitchen was closing soon, so we'd have the opportunity to order dessert with our meal. The desserts sounded great and I sort of regret not ordering one, but I wanted to be able to focus on my entree without something sweet competing for my attention. The crab cake sliders were good, and were served with chips and pickles. The location can't be beat -- it was a beautiful night to eat outdoors and enjoy a view of the lake. I won't hesitate to return if I'm back in town!

Rachel H.

Yelp
We came here with a group of 6 on a very busy Saturday afternoon and were able to get outdoor seating fairly fast though we did have to cram into a small table as they didn't really have seating options for groups larger than 4. We only had drinks but it was a slog - we had 3 separate waiters taking our orders which was confusing. The drinks took a very long time to come out and we had to flag someone down to get another round of drinks, which they then forgot one of. We went inside to get it corrected and said it would be right out- 10 minutes later and we had to leave and the waiter was profusely apologetic the drink never made it. While there was a lot of staff, they seemed very disorganized and I guess a shift change may have been to blame - the owner did apologize and give us coupons for a future visit so I would be open to trying again but hopefully they can figure out their service.

Val V.

Yelp
This is THE spot! Can't beat the views. Service is attentive and the only hard part was trying to choose from the lovely menu! Fill up on apps or just stop for a glass of your favorite wine. We loved the ceviche, mmm! Did not have to wait for a waterview table even on a summer weekend. Lucky us!

Grace S.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant and I was thrilled with the menu and the food. It sits across the street from beautiful Geneva Lake and offers high end food that's delicious. I recommend the three soup flight and the Salmon BLTA. Service was excellent!

Luke M.

Yelp
Good food and very good service. I suggest anything there. But I love the chili. My wife loves this place as a cozy lil spot for us to hang out for a lunch spot. Owner is often there and has become a friend.

John C.

Yelp
A town in which you would expect great food, Barrique delivers in spades. Great menu, food, and ambiance. One of a few great joints in downtown Lake Geneva. Oysters, lobster rolls, poke, whiskey, wine, and a must try!

Hakam K.

Yelp
I recently had a distressing experience dining at this restaurant and it was a truly awful time. To begin with, the service was terrible. The waiter took an unusually long time to come over and take our order. Once he did arrive, it appeared as he was doing us a favor rather than making sure we will enjoy our meal. The food took a long time to arrive and there were several issues. Firstly, the order was served in a haphazard sequence with the main course arriving before the appetizers and soup. We had to repeatedly ask for bread, as the waiter was not available. We were also asked to change our order on multiple occasions, first with the lobster rolls and then with the burrata flatbread because they had run out of burrata cheese. The spinach artichoke dip had an excessive amount of oil and butter, while the lobster bisque soup had a strong old and frozen seafood taste, which was unpleasant. To top it all off, the waiter asked us if we were going to pay for the service in cash, which was a distasteful practice. In conclusion, I would strongly advise against dining at this establishment. Save yourself the hassle and find somewhere else to eat

Deborah I.

Yelp
My daughters and I went to Barrique today for a light dinner. We sat outside and the view of the lake was amazing. The staff was very friendly. We decided on shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were very tasty, nice size and fresh! We also ordered the flatbread which was delicious but messy to eat. Lastly we ordered the spinach artichoke dip which was fantastic.

hannah r.

Yelp
Very good vibes and cozy! The drinks were very strong and they have a good variety of wine. The Nikitenko and baroque bubbly were very good! The bubbly one was quite sweet but good. The Small combo cheese and meat platter was very tasty with good selection of items! Would recommend for drinks and apps or even a dinner.

Jeff T.

Yelp
We like this place for their small plates and Friday seafood specials and outdoor dining with a view. It's tiny with only 12 or so outdoor tables but if you're lucky to get one its great

Leslee A.

Yelp
Our favorite place for lunch/early dinner or appetizers. Love the Bloody Mary's. Though they did reduce the menu a bit -which is disappointing.

Carson D.

Yelp
I was disappointed in Barrique. Aside from the great view and server everything else was below average. We ordered the goat cheese crostini which had 0 flavor, very disappointing for some one loves goat cheese. I ordered the shrimp tacos which were just fine, the shrimp had no flavor. My boyfriend ordered the chicken sandwich and chili which he said was fine nothing special . It was pricey for what we got, I feel like I wasted $82 which is a let down when I traveled to Lake Geneva for the day. A plus was that we could have our dog on the patio and they brought him a water bowl. Overall a let down and I won't be back.

Trice T.

Yelp
Yum this place was so awesome and I'm definitely coming back. Food was so fresh and super yummy

Allie W.

Yelp
Such a gem! Great ambiance, amazing food and great drink selection. Stuff was amazing! We enjoyed 2 wine flights and shared some appetizers crab dip, roasted garlic and a flat bread. Such an enjoyable evening! We will be back!

Kelly K.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch, soup flight, crab cakes, lobster roll. Fresh good food. Enjoyed a fig mocktail.

Amber R.

Yelp
Great food, but if you are an impatient person, this place is probably not for you. Reading the reviews, I knew what we were getting into, so it was fine, but two waiters for the whole restaurant (making their own drinks) were definitely overwhelmed. They also didn't seem familiar with the concept of a waitlist, but we were able to wait for an outside table. Apparently no one comes here to eat inside. The crab dip was a-mazing. Great flavor, just a tiny bit spicy. I would go back just for that. The roasted garlic was meh, but my husband liked mixing it with the crab dip. The lobster roll was really good - well seasoned and buttery. The mixed drinks were also good.

Julie H.

Yelp
This has been our fav spot in Lake Geneva! The wine, food and view of the lake could never be beat! This trip; however, was not 5 stars. Excellent wine as we had 2 different flights; however the charcuterie has changed! We missed the rosemary cashews and the variety of gourmet cheeses; plus thw salami's seemed to be the exact same vs variety. Waitress w accent is always great snd knows here menu to s T! The flat bread was different, too! Kind of messy but ok. Still on our repeat list for now because their wine selection is really good! Still a nice spot but will

Yelp
Friday at 2 pm we came for lunch. First time here. Seated at a table with a very nice lake view. 20 minutes later, a waitress takes our drink orders. Brings back 2 beers. Takes our appetizer and main course order. says she will be right out with the salad and soup. 25 minutes later I ask her about the soup and salad. "Oh yeah, let me check on those." She comes back 10 minutes later with both. Forgot the bread. Went back to get it. Then five minutes later our main course arrives. They got my husband's order wrong, so back it went. Thirty minutes later, Im finished with my meal and they are just bringing his. The empty dishes and glasses pile up on our table. No one takes them away. My husband cannot eat his dinner. It's undercooked. He decided to say something. We then waited 30 more minutes for our check. The waitress took off half price for the undercooked meal. I rarely ever leave a 10% tip, but I did today. On my way out I visited the restroom directly across from the kitchen. A food preparer was stuffing food in his mouth quickly. Then he pulled out his cell phone and had a look at the screen. Then began grabbing lettuce and making a sandwich -- without wasting his hands. I almost was tempted to follow that order to the table it was headed to and warn them not to eat it. I felt sick. We definitely won't be returning.

Mary D.

Yelp
We had an awesome lunch here on our mini vacation. It's a very small place, so be prepared to wait. We opted to eat outside even though it was pretty windy, but we had a great view of the water and the boats. On Fridays, they have fish specials and we got the crabcake sandwich and lobster roll. I highly recommend the crabcake, it was so good.

Linda M.

Yelp
What a great restaurant! We had a group of 6 and everyone was pleased with their lunch. The service was prompt especially since the restaurant was very busy. One thing that we appreciated was the quiet acoustics which made it possible to talk without shouting. We will definitely go back.

Orest S.

Yelp
It is nice interior and food is not bad. Great view to the river. The place is not too big, so may be crowded, especially on weekends.

Gabby C.

Yelp
Awesome drinks, awesome food Place was busy, and some people didn't understand, but it was amazing!! Will be coming back

Glenda R.

Yelp
Excellent venue - close quarters inside but we LOVED the vibe. Drinks were great - large selection! Also got the mixed cheese and meat charcuterie board (not pictured) because we devoured it. Service was amazing and payment was a breeze.

Murphy L.

Yelp
Salmon salad and and Greek salad were both great and very filling. We sat outside with our dog and enjoyed the awesome view.

Art M.

Yelp
We ordered the Sangria an Old Fashion drinks. Both were well prepared and tasty. In addition, we ordered a small charcuterie tray. The offerings included two cheeses, sausages, olives, bread, and a delicious fig based spread. Every item was very good and the offering was basically a meal for two. Servers greeted us and checked in regularly to see if anything was needed. We also had a nice view of Lake Geneva and the surrounds.

Kristen H.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick bite to hold us over before dinner. Cute place with a beautiful view - I imagine it is wonderful in the summer. It was quiet for a Thursday and we were quickly greeted and attended to. We ordered different wine and neither was great. But the appetizer (baked brie) was one of the best I've ever tasted. Seriously, I would go back just for it the next time I'm in Lake Geneva. The baked brie gets a 5 out of 5. We also tried one of the soups which was tasty. Definitely stop in and enjoy apps and the lake view.

Grace C.

Yelp
It was back to June we went here around 5:30pm. We can't believe we are seated for over 5 minutes and no server came and greeted us. The manager saw us knew we were frustrated. She told us they were short staffed. To be it seems it is what it is. If we can wait just seat here and kept waiting. Without a word we just left and we will never come back again. This is unbelievable ! How can they treat a customer like these ? We all know everywhere is still short of staffs but how come other restaurants can handle it ?

Joee G.

Yelp
Tons of wine to choose from. While the portions seemed small compared to similar places in LG, the flight of wine was a great deal. Our waitress was knowledgeable and directed us to wines we may enjoy. We split a margarita flatbread which was decent, but went well with the wine. Love that this place overlooks the lake and has a cozy feel.

Stacey S.

Yelp
My experience was nowhere near three star but I'm not going to rip on a place I've enjoyed in the past because of one bad experience. Just want to use this a vehicle to give a heads up to patrons and give some helpful feedback to management. Came up on a Thursday for an overnight stay for my birthday. Love Barrique and was very much looking forward to a sparkling flight, bringing a bottle of Prosecco home, and enjoying some of their amazing soups at my hotel. I did my diligence and checked the site and knew all I wanted was available - but when I got to the non-busy restaurant and sat at the bar, things went south. I was told my flight would be delayed by limited glassware that was being washed, but then overheard that they were out of the Prosecco, that they had none of their sparkling wines cold (so how long would my delay have been?), the beer cheese soup that I loved and was on their website menu that day, was not being offered, that the seafood bisque, also still on the website, was replaced by lobster bisque, but was also out of stock at 5pm. This was a very much looked-forward to experience and I was very let down. No one's fault in the restaurant, but I do wish entities would keep their sites up to date because people do refer to them and trust them to be accurate. I'll try them again in the future but this was a very personal fail.

Tori R.

Yelp
Working at a winery on the East Coast, this is one of my absolute have to go to places when I'm visiting my parents. I stumbled upon this place about three years ago and I'm so happy I did! They have a great wine selection (obviously) and you can order by the glass or a flight (although I wish they included some wine notes on the menu). The servers are always very caring and even when it's really busy, try their best to be as attentive as possible. But the absolute best thing about this place IS THE FOOD!!! I've tried almost 3/4ths of their apps/shareables menu and have never been disappointed. Most recently, we had the Smoked Salmon Board and I've honestly been talking about it since!!! I would have that every night if I could! Im super glad they have stayed open and busy during Covid and I will definitely be back!

Hannah G.

Yelp
Great food quality and taste. Definitely a smaller restaurant so may take a bit longer but is definitely worth it. Cocktails are tasty as well!

Caroline B.

Yelp
Wonderful option along the main strip in downtown Lake Geneva. Friendly, very relaxed service. I was there alone with my pups and easily got settled at one of their outdoor tables. Good wine list and an appealing menu. The goat cheese crostini was really delicious - very fresh. A perfect accompaniment on a warm summer night with a crisp glass of wine. The crab cakes were also really good with a flavorful remoulade sauce.

Angela N.

Yelp
Wonderful little Wine and Brew Bar with amazing food ! Very pleased . If you aren't in a rush or hurry stop by totally worth it

Dawn S.

Yelp
Wine choices were awesome Charcuterie board was yummy not large though Atmosphere was fun but very small space Bathrooms clean and fresh
