An urban winery in a century‑old brick warehouse under the rail viaduct, known for bold reds, rotating art, and lively First Friday concerts. Highlighted by Visit Spokane and the Spokane Winery Association, its downtown tasting spaces are welcoming and very Spokane.

Cute winery with both inside and outside sitting (during summer). Being there while they have live music just makes the whole experience even more enjoyable! The customer service could be a bit on the serious and to the point kind and not feel as welcoming/warm. Overall a good spot to enjoy some wine!

Google
Great wine tasting experience. Wines were delicious. Especially the blend and the Cabernet Sauvignon. Thank you Dianna for being so informative and friendly. Will definitely return

We recently attended a very enjoyable graduation event at the winery. The venue is historic and beautiful, the staff went above and beyond to create a memorable event, and of course, the wine was delicious. We have been to this winery before and we will likely visit again every time we are in Spokane. Barrister always provides a great time!

Another cool old building turned into a winery. They did a nice job of keeping some of the original feel while adding some nice upgrades. I was there for a private event, but sampled some of their wine and it's very good. They have lots of room inside, and a nice outdoor area. I was told the name comes from the fact that the winemaker was originally a lawyer.

Google
Very cool place! Old historical building in downtown Spokane that has excellent space for wine tastings as well as events! The wine was good but not as good as expected. We did try another of their wines at another tasting and it was amazing though.

Google
My husband & I have been wine club members of Barrister for close to 20 years. We've been on a tour of some of their vineyards, attended release parties, had wonderfully informative tours of the winery & process with several guests. Mike, Greg and Tyler as well as their entire staff have ALWAYS been gracious, friendly, informative and helpful each and every time we have visited. I highly recommend their wines to any wine fan.

Nadine Burgess

Google
Fantastic venue for events! Greg is so generous with local non-profit organizations and you can tell that he genuinely cares about people and our community. My friends rave about "Rough Justice" and Cabernet Franc. Last night we enjoyed Dave and Molly's "mid-week meet-up" and enjoyed ourselves so much that we stayed for the live music of Spare Parts and dancing. Wonderful winery, place and people!

Google
First time in Spokane, this place is one of those wonderful hidden gems. Staff are very knowledgeable and helpful, the wines don't disappoint. I choose the 5 sample to see which one I would like better and the Sangiovese was my preferred one. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Service was great and welcoming! The wine flight is $15 for 5 tastings or waived if you buy a bottle! The ambiance can be romantic and relaxed! Such a wonderful spot to enjoy wine. They do offer sparking water and beer as well.

Yelp
I was part of a wine tour with the USS Topeka reunion and this place was o r of three that we loved. Venue - This place is on the national historic register since it was an old Model T showroom and auto center. There used to be a bridge that connected the railroad (next door) to the building to ease transport of the vehicles. There is an old elevator (still operating) for the vehicles l, now used to accommodate 10-15 people at a time. Wine tasting -Fantastic selection of wines. You get to see some of the grapes transported here in huge vats. "Paddlers" will mix the yeast while crushing the grapes. Fantastic space for weddings and receptions

Lawrence G.

Yelp
We have had multiple tastings here and staff has always been friendly and helpful! They have some of the best wines in our region. We always appreciate them and give them high ratings!!

Yelp
Came here for a friends wedding. This place is really nice and their wines are very good. Our host, the new couple, offered a variety of beers, sparkling wine and several wines. My wife is a Cabernet Sauvignon drinker and I tried hers and it was really flavorful but I tasted the Petite Sirah was so good, I stayed with that most of the night. The sparkling wine was very good too. BTW, lots of medals on their wines. We were there for a wedding and it all went off very beautifully. The main building is divided into three sections. The middle section was were the wedding occurred and after the ceremony we had some hors d'oeuvres, a cheese board and some great drinks [see above]. In just a few minutes they took down the chairs in the middle section, pulled back the drapes that divided the three sections and Walla, large wedding party ready to go. The service was very good and the food was fair. This is certainly a nice place for any kind of event: wedding, corporate or adult party.

Yelp
The service was great, wines were okay. Would recommend the Malbec out of the reds we tried.

Yelp
We attended an evening wedding at Barrister on 11/11. The ambiance of the building was rustic, yet elegant, and the wine was phenomenal! We loved the Rough Justice and the Cabernet Franc. The hors d'oeuvres were amazing- the stuffed mushrooms were to die for! We really enjoyed the venue and wine, and will visit again soon for some wine tasting!

Yelp
Fantastic little gem. Be advised Apple Maps sent me close but not quite to the address. Not the winery's fault, but if you can't find it at first hunt around. Worth it. The hostess told me that the proximity to the railroad gently agitates the wine as it ages producing a smooth texture, and it really does feel that way. Great staff and great wine, and a beautiful rustic tasting room

Yelp
Beautiful setting, wonderful staff, even better wine! Been a wine club member here for years now and I absolutely love it. So glad tasting events are back!!

Yelp
Barrister produces my favorite wine, Rough Justice. I was jazzed that All Heart Infusion chose to have their fundraiser here! The ambiance is on point and wine (naturally) is amazing. Staff was so great to work with. I love coming here!

Yelp
Our visit to this winery was soo great. We stopped in on our own little wine tour on a Sunday afternoon - the wine tasting was phenomenal. Each wine we had was delicious, complex, and so incredibly smooth. The vibe was very relaxing and the art displayed on the wall was memorizing. The ladies who helped us were also extremely attentive and even gave us one extra pour. Would absolutely recommend!

Yelp
I'll start off by saying that this review is only based on hosting an event at Barrister Winery. We had a celebration of life service at Barrister Winery and it ended up being the perfect venue to host the event! Included in our rental was private use of the winery and the outdoor courtyard. With the weather being sunny and low 80s, the courtyard was a welcomed addition! The indoor space is quite large, elegant and cozy, with an overall relaxing ambiance; the exposed brick interior adds to the feeling of warmth. It nicely fit roughly 75 people with plenty of room for social distancing. Although the projector screen had a few minor technical issues, overall we had no problems. Many friends and family commented on the venue and how it was the perfect fit for celebrating our loved one. If you're thinking of having an event, be sure to check out Barrister Winery!

Yelp
What a cute spot! It's a venue. So there is amazing room to check out. They make everything in house. We purchased the only white and a red. (I regret it now)

Yelp
The best wine in Spokane.Greg,Michael,Tyler,Zack & The ladies are the very best at customer service.

Yelp
Talk about a Bride's rustic winery wedding dream! Right downtown, this place is in a very large old warehouse looking building right by the railroad tracks. The exposed bricks, the large rustic looking wood floors, it's too bad I didn't know about the place when I got married. Don't worry, there are plenty of pictures of weddings that have been done at the place. They have a large patio outside and inside is very large with what looks like a lower level barrel room that looks amazing in candlelight. I was a fan of their white wine, though they do mostly red wines. I enjoyed walking around the place and looking at local artwork that was hanging on the walls. In fact, they were starting to set up for a wedding that would be taking place that night. Very lovely place! We will be back!

Yelp
Hidden gem is what I will call this Winery, its located in the alley so when I was looking for it I thought that I was lost, but I was not, I actually love the location and how it's set up. The lady's that welcome us upon entering Barrister were very nice. The ambiance was very relaxing, on top of the wine; we tried 10 different wines 2 white and the rest were red, my favorite were the white wines. There was a lot of Art on the walls and they great to look at. There were also a few flys and nets that wanted our wine just as much as we wanted it ; but outside of that I will go back for sure when I'm in town.

Yelp
Elegant environment. The wine tasting was delicious! They had a great variety of types of wine and a good, reasonably prices selection of bottles. We loved viewing the paintings they had for sale.

Yelp
Great place to go catch some local music. Beautiful atmosphere, yummy wine. But no real service, have to go up to the bar to get your bottle of wine & glasses.

Yelp
I've only lived in Spokane a couple of years, but in spite of a pandemic, I've had the opportunity to sample many of Spokane's terrific restaurants, bars, and wineries. Each winery has unique charms that stand out, but if you're looking for the BEST wine, Barrister is the place to go! I'm primarily a white wine drinker. I've discovered Barrister Sauvignon Blanc outclasses other local wineries' whites. I have tasted reds at other local wineries and at Barrister, my favorite of which is called Rough Justice. Apparently, some of the Barrister wines have won National awards. Barrister is not in the business of food, but I love that we are permitted to bring in our own picnic lunch if we choose, and I appreciate their generosity in providing bottled water free of charge. The atmosphere at Barrister is comfortable, fun, friendly, kind of casually upscale housed in an historic brick building. For the past couple months on Wednesday and Friday evenings, there are consistently great bands that vary from classic rock to jazzy horns and provide dancing pleasure. Reservations are required as these bands are very popular. And, have I mentioned that there is NO cover charge! There is street parking available, and in addition, on the east end of the alley where Barrister is located, there is an off street parking lot which is free of charge for Barrister customers. They've covered all bases! A fabulous place to go in Spokane!

Yelp
This venue is so amazing for weddings! I was a guest at a wedding this fall and it was pretty clear to me why this has become a classic Spokane wedding venue. First of all, the ceremony: It was outside in the alley next to Barrister. Sounds crazy, but it was so intimate and nice for a wedding. We could hear everything just fine and I loved the lights and wine barrels. I guess sometimes they have trains pass by and just pause the ceremony, but no trains came by during this one. There were big planter pots filled with lush flowers and I enjoyed that floral flourish. Secondly, the cocktail hour/dinner: All the guests easily filtered inside post-ceremony and there were appetizers on a table set up (as well as waiter passed appetizers) and you could easily get wine and beer from the large bar area. There were taller tables to set your items at etc. and people really mingled and chatted during this time. Once we all transitioned to dinner there was plenty of space for all the tables. Note: the lighting and exposed brick in the space is very nice. Finally, the dancing: There is a great dance floor available here, and during this time it was so nice to filter outside and get ice cream from The Scoop truck (that easily parked in the alley during the wedding). I really felt like the venue was convenient and accessible for all during the wedding and there wasn't a bunch of travel between spaces for the evening.

Yelp
We attended a wedding here and it was a great facility. The space was well laid out with the bar being away from where all of the tables were so no speeches were interrupted, etc. The outdoor area had lots of room so people could freely hang out there if they didn't want to be in the loud music atmosphere. My only complaint is that the bathrooms are all one person at a time ones that were right behind the front DJ and dance floor area. The parking was clearly marked a not a problem in the downtown environment. The staff was friendly and prompt and the food not too bad. The decor was rustic and had that magical feel to it, with lighting the way it should be. There were lots of good photo opportunities at this venue. I only had their red wine but it was pretty good.

Yelp
True Love. As I sat beside him slowly sipping wine, I ever so softly whispered, "I love you." He turned, stared deep into my eyes and asked, "Is that you talking or the wine?" Confidently I replied, "It's me....talking to the wine." Barrister Cab Franc, you've captured my heart.

Yelp
Two words: ROUGH JUSTICE! These two lawyers really lay down the law when it comes to making some world-class wines. I was late for the tasting (it ended at 5:00 p.m.) however, it was 1st Friday and the wineries stay open late for live music. The joint was a jumpin' and there wasn't a free table in the house. Fortunately, I just popped in to pick up a bottle of their house blend "Rough Justice" which is a local favorite and justly so (pun-intended). The wine makers were on hand to snap a photo with "The Wine Gnome" and they were very helpful in answering questions. It's a little hard to find this warehouse as it's tucked away in an alley between 1st and 2nd at Jefferson. Just follow the crowds.
google avatar

Kayla D.

Yelp
Fantastic wine tasting! Jen was so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We loved every wine, and with a tasting fee of $5 you cannot go wrong. Will absolutely be back.
google avatar

Jean H.

Yelp
What a fun place. Wander down the back alley, admire the courtyard and then go into a great venue. I love the rustic warehouse. Good wine, buy a bottle and share with your friends. Wednesday night live music in the summer. Bring your own dinner and enjoy the wine and wonderful atmosphere. First Friday is a great time to visit, live music. Art on the walls changes every month, sometimes its cool, artistic, sometimes its not.

Yelp
My very favorite winery. This boutique winery has such a unique and rustic atmosphere. Greg Michael and Tyler make incredible wine. You must stop by for a tasting. Enjoy and walk around the space and see for yourself why this wine is Gold Metal Standard. You can also visit the Tasting Room downtown Spokane and every time you'll learn something new!
google avatar

Lindsey H.

Yelp
This place never disappoints... No matter if you just go in for a tasting or share a picnic with friends on the patio for music night you are going to have a good time. Now the star of the whole show... The vino!! Barrister has some of the best wine around and they have the awards to back it up (Personal favs are Malbec and Barrister Block). You have to check out this very historic and unique location!

Yelp
Barrister is one of my absolute favorite wineries in Spokane. I've had the opportunity to be a part of their wine club for a couple of years now and I highly recommend it to all my wine drinking friends. The win is fantastic, especially the Cab Franc. I have never had a bad glass of barrister wine. If you're a none club member the tasting is affordable which is a bonus. If had the opportunity to go to Red Mountain with the Barrister Winery team and other customers and it was a fantastic weekend. If you join the club and get the opportunity to go don't miss out.

Yelp
Just had a wonderful time at a FREE concert at Barrister Winery, and one of the owners offered to walk my 68 year old mother to her car because he thought she was alone. This is Spokane at its best. Thank you, Barrister!
google avatar

Marshall P.

Yelp
What a fantastic downtown spot! They keep winning award after award for their gently "shaken, not stirred" wines, but that's not their only outstanding feature - the venue itself is gorgeous, as is the high quality fine art they feature each month. Great job Greg Lipsker and co.!
google avatar

Janelle C.

Yelp
I love this winery. Rough Justice is the BEST! It's my go to wine, for nice events and just a relaxing night at home. Plus their locations are beautiful. Great place for an event. The tasting room is small and friendly.

Wolfgram P.

Yelp
I just wanted to say thank you to your wonderful staff for accommodating me last night while I was trying to do some images of Miss Washington before she heads to Las Vegas for Miss America competition. As a military member, I use photography as a stress relief from everyday life. Your staff was very welcoming and friendly. The only thing I had to do was give a good review on Yelp. I wouldn't ever leave a bad review because of how friendly the staff was. Thank you again for letting me be able to capture the image I was able to share on your page.

Yelp
Barrister is my favorite winery in town, all of the staff is great..along with custom wine tours. The wine club events are great! Drop in and try the wines!

Yelp
The Rough Justice is one of my favorite wines from this place. This winery is filled with so many things artistic. The wine tastings were awesome and the staff knows what they are talking about.

Yelp
Amazing! Had our wedding here and it was beautiful! Everyone loved the wine and the atmosphere was perfect. Beacon Hill Catering company was incredibly helpful in planning and carrying out our wedding and reception here. Best day ever!

Yelp
Wonderful old building creates a nice setting for the wine tasting. The wines were great. Service very friendly. I would highly recommend this tasting.

Yelp
This was our favorite winery in Spokane. We were here visiting some friends and decided to do a little wine tasting. This place rocks! The owners are so super nice and their wine is amazing. I think this is the only winery I've ever been to where I liked everything that was poured. Of course the Rough Justice is a steal. The old building they are located in is also very interesting and they are always willing to do a tour and show you the process if you are interested. It's not lame like other tours either. Its just the winemaker telling you how he makes his wine and showing you his building as if you knew him and he was showing you around his house. It looks like it would be a really cool place for events as well. I know everyone has their likes and dislikes, but here's something to substantiate my claim of deliciousness. A group of us recently had a contest on who could bring the best wine for $20 or under. We, of course, brought the Rough Justice. You already know the ending to this story, but the best part is that one of our friends is a certified sommelier (only 130 in WA state) and she brought a bottle for the contest as well. It was a blind tasting. Rough Justice beat her bottle and 6 others. Take that! haha

Blondie S.

Yelp
Great wine, cool story of the building with the trains and automotive industry, super nice owner, and interesting murals outside to look at. Haven't seen the patio in full bloom, but now that the weathers getting better, I can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Yelp
It very soothing and soft ambiance style with a classic and rustic flavors! The building was built in 1906 and transformed into a wonderful winery with delicious and extravagant reviews! This place just keeps on winning and winning! More recently it brought home the San Francisco 2015 International Wine Competition with a double gold! Highly recommended in the area with a cool and collective staff that knows their wine! Check it out you will not be disappointed I promise!
google avatar

Carly L.

Yelp
Barrister was the highlight of my wine tasting this weekend. (I only went to 2, but I loved Barrister). The Rough Justice is a great great blend! When you pay the $5 for the tasting, then that gets credited towards a wine purchase. WIN! So the wine was only $15. As far as the other ones, the sangiovese was a little flat, the cab needs a little more bottle time, and the merlot is pretty enjoyable but not worth the price. (I may be a wine princess but I am cheap) Wonderful location, high ceilings, exposed bricks, and an art exhibit. The staff was friendly and the place was popping. I will definitely go back if I am in Spokane.

Yelp
A Must Go For An Amazing Experience!! The winery is located in downtown Spokane in a beautifully old architectural brick building with large wooden beams and local artist works on the brick walls that create an ambiance of the past. The Barrister team's hospitality is a 5-star. My girlfriend and I had a great conversation with Sharon, the tasting room server along with other wine tasters and the owners. You'll learn about the buildings history, winery's beginning, refine your palate skills, artist works and more. The wines are amazing and pair well. Barrister wine will be a staple at my house hold. The Cab Franc was my favorite along with the very popular blended Rough Justice which has a unique taste and is a must try. Big Thanks to Greg one of the owners who generously offered/gave us his tickets to the Gonzaga Basketball Game that night. Bulldogs won!!
google avatar

Cheryl R.

Yelp
You must stop here when downtown Spokane. A beautiful building with very nice staff. The Rough Justice is so good!

Yelp
Beautiful place! I can just imagine a wedding here. Just wish they had more whites. Wonderful service and and personable staff. Would love to go back.

Yelp
Nice wine and friendly employee. Lots of nice wine and great space ! It would be a phenomenal place to hold a wedding or party .
google avatar

Lori S.

Yelp
We came in for a tour and tasting and it was such an AMAZING experience. The history of the building is fascinating and the tasting was exquisite! Their wines are well though out and tastes wonderful! I am considering their Wine Club for membership, even as a out-of-towner! A must-stop for any wine lover!
google avatar

Elly A.

Yelp
A visit to the tasting room is a must. Your right in the heart of the cork district and on the edge of the park. The room has a tasting bar and plenty of seating. I will enjoy a glass after work when I'm being picked up or grab a bottle for home. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and great for conversation and referrals. My favorite is rough justice a fun Mellott that is sure to please

Yelp
I love Barrister winery. One of the most beautiful in Spokane. Got the opportunity to wine taste the excellent wine there yesterday and it was a great time! The ladies who man the bar are entertaining, knowledgable and friendly- they will keep me going back again and again.

Yelp
This winery rocks! Their Cab Franc is one of the best I have ever tried and the owners are very nice and always happy to chat it up with you.

Yelp
Stopped by Barrister on Tuesday -- in a charming "Alley" in downtown Spokane. Open during the week -- while most others in area are limited to weekend hours. Great Syrah & Cab Plus their more moderate blend. Looking forward to seeing their Fall release of Merlot!
