Very nice atmosphere and very nice staff/ servers. I love how there are some couches to get comfortable sitting and enjoying yourself. I just feel like its overpriced for what u get. The mojito is pretty darn good, but the margaritas are very small for the price. Their drinks are 14-15 dollars each lol. 3 drinks and 1 arepa for 1 person and my bill is $60 plus…. Yea too much for me to come back.

Nice vibes. The food is great. My only slight critique is that my arepa had most of the meat and cheese in the back, and all of the slaw up front (as you can kind of see from the picture). So the front was cold, and the back was hot.

This place is a vibe! Great atmosphere, great service (our server was Laura) and the food was amazing. Everything was very good. We had the Churrasco, Steak and Chicken Skewers, and Reina Pepiada. The chimichurri was excellent. The chefs Carlos and Andres crushed this meal. We'll definitely be back!

We had a fantastic time at dinner tonight. They never disappoint. The food was great, atmosphere very warm, and best service with Sofi! She is a keeper!

Amazing Restaurant Experience! We try to come here whenever we’re around Cleveland, and it never disappoints. The staff is incredibly accommodating and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious with generous portions, and the cocktails are top-notch. Everything from the service to the ambiance makes this place a must-go. Highly recommended!

I got the chicken and steak skewers and the were fatty, luke warm and bland. The chimichurri over the skewers had absolutely no salt or pepper of any kind in it. Really mediocre food. However, our server Sophie was sweet, personable and attentive and the caipirinha was excellent.

We visited for our anniversary and everything was amazing. Our server Paola was super friendly, very fast and extremely knowledgeable. The host was so nice! The bartender was quick and the drinks were delicious. 10/10 experience and would definitely return. Prices were very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food received:

Great overall! Visited on a weekday night and was able to find street parking easily. We were seated quickly and the servers were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant is spacious and colorful, perfect for anything from casual to celebratory! The flavor of the plantains and arepas was great! Large portion and great presentation as well. I thought it was a little bit on the pricier side but worth it for good flavors and service.

Loved the decor inside, felt upscale and sophisticated. The food was delicious! We went during a very slow time of the day, but service was great.

I ate here with friends for the first time a few weeks ago. The vibe inside was pretty chill. Four of us were able to converse across the table without yelling. Most of the food was delicious with a couple sour notes. The servers were friendly, my sangria was excellent and the bartender was quite personable. The price point isn't too high for the area. I ordered the "La Sucia" carne asada arepa with sweet plantain as the side. Arepas are El Salvadoran comfort food but they tried to dress them up a little with the plating. They were well seasoned and very filling. The maduros were tasty although not quite as sweet as I prefer and I would have been happier with a larger portion.‍ My buddy ordered the yucca fries which came out looking like little white cubes and tasted eating a dried blending sponge. Another friend ordered french fries and got the best bang for his buck. They were heaped on his plate, hot, fresh and cooked perfectly. Lesson learned. I may try the lomo saltado next time. A nice addition to the Larchmere lineup.

We have been so excited to have a Barroco in this very walkable neighborhood! We stopped in on a Saturday night and were so happy to be seated in a relaxing dining room. The decor is lovely and the noise level was quiet and pleasurable. In the mood to try something different, we opted for the tostadas con todo. Every part of this dish was delicious! And it was perfect for sharing. Our service was friendly and fairly attentive. This is sure to become our favorite location and it's a great neighborhood to walk around and enjoy the evening afterwards!

Let me begin by saying that I love Barroco..... in Lakewood. However, the Larchmere location not so much. The food is still amazing, but the decor and atmosphere here just isn't the same. Our service was horribly slow on a day when there may have been at most 5 tables in the place. Our server was kind, but just not attentive and often absent. But the worst part of our experience is when we received our bill. We had 2 pitchers of Coconut Mojitos. We were charged $26 AND $120. That equals $146 for two pitchers. They inadvertently charged for 2 drinks & 2 pitchers, which they fixed. However.... Lakewood charges $42 per pitcher. Larchmere charges $60 per pitcher. This is a totally unacceptable difference. The pitchers are app 4.5 drinks, at $13 per glass you're looking at $58.50, if bought separately. I did speak with management who could not explain the difference, but said he'd speak with the owner and get back with us. That was 15 days ago. A discrepancy like that should've been addressed right there and then. All I'm saying is there is a clear difference from Lakewood to Larchmere, and you're better off avoiding Larchmere.

Arepas were fantastic! Service was exceptional, attentive but not intrusive. A neighborhood gem. Will definitely be back again!

You'll find AMAZING service at Barroco. I'm so glad it went back to Barroco even though Hola tacos was pretty good. Our server was very kind and attentive, made great recommendations and went above and beyond. I ordered the veggie arepa which was very delicious. The black beans were more of a soup, but were spot on. Seasoned well and perfect texture. My caipirinha was very refreshing also. They made special accommodation to have the chicken skewers served to our party. Great guacamole as always- fresh and served with crispy plaindrai chips. Come with an appetite! We all left with take our bags. Definitely refreshing in a time when service can be poor.

There's a new menu and I was not expecting that. Ambience is still nice but so missing the original menu like at Crocker and before!

We had a horrible experience at this Barroco in Larchmere. The service was lacking, as the server just wasn't present. Oftentimes we had to wait an extended period of time just to another cocktail. The food was as to be expected from Barroco; excellent, however, the other aspects of dining in with business associates far outweighed the delicious food. We also were overcharged for our pitchers of mojitos. They charged us $60 each for our pitchers. At 3 pitchers, that's $180! If we were to buy the equivalent of glasses of mojitos, we would've saved money. We do love Barroco. We've been to Lakewood many times and had an incredible meal with exquisite service. But this Larchmere location just doesn't cut it. Besides, the Lakewood location has better ambiance as well. We will NOT be back here. I'd suggest you drive to Lakewood to guarantee a great time.

Went to Barroco on Larchmere for a quick monday night dinner with a friend. Larchmere is a super cute strip with lots of food and shops. A great area to explore! It was happy hour when we arrived and my friend had a yummy $5 passion fruit mojito. I guess each day has a different happy hour. For food, my main was the montañera arepa. It was loaded with braised beef and topped with a runny luscious fried egg. The cheese was meaty and added great flavor to the dish. I found the corn part of the arepa slightly disappointing for such a strong flavor profile on top; I'm wondering if it's just a slow monday night thing, but the arepa seemed weirdly reheated and a little dry. For my side, I had the maduros (fried plain rain). They were sweet and tender and yummy! But only four of them. Honestly, the $16 here seems a little unwarranted for a dry arepa base, but tbh I would be down to go back with some friends and try again, because this place was pretty fun. My friend also ordered a madurai chorizo queso which was a great starter. The cheese flavor was great, and the chips crispy. We also split a plantain banana split which was amazing. Friend plantain with big scoops of ice cream and all the typical banana split fixings like pineapple and strawberry. If you're in the area I would hit this place up! I will be returning to try again, and excited to see it on a busier weekend night :)

Beautiful inside, gorgeous! Immaculately clean. Excellent bartender Luis, total sweetheart! Very accommodating. The food is vibrant, fresh & delicious. Highly recommend !!

This is a delicious Mexican restaurant located in Larchmere. It's often not busy has a great vibe a good happy hour and excellent drinks and food to dry. They have indoor and outdoor seating plus live music on Mondays and Friday evenings. Parking is on the street and free if you come after 6 PM. They also have valet close by. I recommend trying the tacos for sangria or any of the things on the brunch menu. They have fast and friendly service with a great selection of brunch, lunch and dinner foods. They also have a nice selection of desserts and are happy to celebrate a birthday if needed.

I was just here with my coworkers. The place is absolutely gorgeous and it had a really fun vibe. Parking was not too bad and we were able to get street parking. I can't comment on the bathrooms because I didn't use the restroom at the place BUT let's talk about the most important part ...the food and drinks. When you first go in they give you a complimentary tequila shot in a lime which we thought was cute. We got stuff off their happy hour menu and the drinks were OKAY. One huge negative was the cucumber jalapeno gimlet which almost ripped a hole through my esophagus. I have had been a cucumber jalapeno gimlets at one of the locations where the seed of the jalapeno was not in the drink. It was so unbelievably spicy then I had to take a spoon out and remove all the jalapenos with the seeds. I could have literally formed two whole jalapenos from one drink. It was not good. Because I had paid for it my co-workers and I decided that we just finished it and stick it through. We got the arepas. I didn't have the bread portion mainly because it was so hard to eat. It was extremely difficult to bite into. They did have live music which was nice. I'm not really sure if I would go back here again. There's definitely a lot of room for improvement.

I love this place! I didn't know that I even liked Colombian food until I tried an arepa. YUM! The drinks are also quite delicious. TIP: Each day there is a special on a different drink. I suggest calling ahead and then committing it to memory. The Ambiance will definitely stimulate your retina. Plenty of bright colors and decor to take in. The first time I went I did a shot of tequila out of lime on the house. This is not everyday thing but I was there on a Friday. Lastly, they sometimes have live music for your listening pleasure.

My friends and I drove to Cleveland just to have their food from Pittsburgh. While my friends have tried their other locations, this was my first time. My friends are from Panama and told me the food here is very authentic tasting. Just by walking in the door we were offered complimentary tequila shots from lime halves. I knew I'd like this place after that, halfway through our visit we were offered another! The restaurant seating area is sort of crammed and small - on Saturday night with the live band it was popular and had a line. We made it before then. We ordered fruit beer, coconut mojitos, and red sangrias - each in a jar size glass for $9 each. All pretty delicious though the mojito was very thick and had to poor water in it midway thru in order to finish it. We had delicious meals - I attached all of my photos! Pork arepa, steak arepa, empanadas among other entrees we ordered. Excuse my ignorance I forgot what everything was called but the pork was super tender. Black bean soup was tasty! We also had flan for dessert which was a nice ending. The band, dancing, and atmosphere was awesome! Service was excellent as well. All food came within 15 mins tops. Recommend!

Barroco has potential, and is probably really good if you are a carnivore, but as a pescatarian I found it to be a bit wanting. Located on Larchmere in a spot that has been the home to a couple of different restaurants, Barroco has done a nice job of making the space feel funky and eclectic. The menu is lengthy, although it seems to take more space without providing a lot of actual items to select from. Since there are not fish or seafood items on the menu, I ended up ordering one of the Arepas, using the option to substitute potatoes for the meat. Since I wanted to try some things, I got the yuca fries as my side, plus got a small order of guacamole and a side of maduros. The arepa was openface with potatoes, onions, peppers, cheese and a fried egg. The arepa was ok, but the ingredients kind of all blended together and the egg was slightly overcooked so that the yolk did not provide the yummy oozy sauce it should have. I did try Barroco's different sauce, and they were alright, but nothing special. The yuca fries were little cubes that seemed like slightly more starchy potatoes. The maduros were nicely caramelized plantains, good but not great. The guacamole, was nice, a bit chunky, but could have been more flavorful. Overall, not a bad dinner, but nothing great. I believe that Barroco is probably better if you eat meat or chicken; it does provide vegetarian options, but they strike me as a bit half hearted, especially at the price they are charging.

Their happy hour is so great! For Monday-friday 3-6 they have often $5 drink specials and half off appetizers. The appetizers personally are enough for a meal. I've gotten the bacon wrapped maduros and the beef empanadas which were both very great and full of flavor! I did not like the balsamic vinegar and queso as much with the plantains, but their other sauces they provide are great, especially the chimichurri. Their drinks are also great! I've had the mojito and it comes with a stick of sugar cane and plenty of fresh mint which was a nice addition. The two times I've gone I see the staff greet others who are clearly regulars which is so nice to see! There is also live music certain days and the interior is very unique. Would definitely go again!

This place has been open since August and shame, shame, shane on me for just now visiting! Family owned and operated, with a few friends in their new East side location in eclectic Larchmere, it is a welcomed spot to hang. Family Angie, is a fresh breath to help you navigate the broad and extensive menu. She is honest with sharing the 411 on what is more filling, what is a lighter fare and what you must absolutely need to order today or next visit. We ordered the Sancocho de Dona Liliana Sopa (soup) deconstructed with a bowl of rice, sliced avacados and an aji salsa to mix as you enjoy. Served HOT and savory... Yum tum tum! The Arepas are enough for me to eat dinner, and share the leftovers the next day with my Mommy! The Bosa Nova and Latin Vibe's are filling the air with incredible free music, no cover! Oh, last but certainly not least...the Bartenders are on point with the cocktails! Ooo, are they lovely! Tequila shots come in a squeezed out lime! Will i return... Oh hell yes! Will be one of my new stomping grounds! I could go on and on... Come support local!

I honestly had no idea what Colombian food even consisted of before coming to Barroco, but I'm so glad Barroco was recommended to me because I discovered arepas! (and now I actually crave them...) Arepas are basically these white corn tortilla pockets filled with meat, cheese, and vegetables! My go to here is the La Gringa arepa. There are some other items on their menu that look / I have heard are great and worth trying too but I like the La Gringa arepa so much I'm always reluctant to order anything else when I come! Maybe next time I'll just have to order 2 entrees...haha. You also get to pick a side with your order - I highly recommend the maduros (sweet plantains)! Barroco also has some great all day happy hour deals, so I definitely recommend coming on a weekday to try one of their cocktails ;) Barroco is a little bit on the more expensive side, but I think the food is well worth it. Overall, Barroco has delicious food, awesome happy hour deals, and great consistent customer service - seriously, if you haven't tried arepas yet, you should!

I write this review with a heavy heart and stomach as my expectations for Barroco were high after eating at their Lakewood location. At first glance, everything at Larchmere seemed to hit equally high marks. Friendly staff, cute front and back patios, live music, and the free-for-all marker wall. They don't have a liquor license yet, so until then it's BYOB and the liquor shop across the street gets to reap the benefits. We had to wait a bit for our party of 4 since this Barroco also doesn't take reservations, but it was a nice evening and the music was shimmy-able. One glance told us the menu survived the transplant in one piece as well. A table along the wall with bench-style seating opened up and we knew to order the Cheesy Corn appetizer from previous recommendations. It was a hearty start that should definitely be split among 3+ people if you each plan on getting your own entree as well. Our waitress was very attentive during this time. Since they ran out of wine glasses, she brought us little Mason jars for our wine, and our water glasses were refilled on a regular basis even though we were sitting in the corner of the room. From here though, things started going downhill. It had been busy on arrival, but the dining room emptied to 1/3 capacity and all 4 of us were wondering where our entrees were as other diners came and went. The musicians packed up. Wine glasses bottomed out. Just as we were planning to check in after 40+ minutes, the waitress appeared with our entrees. The much anticipated Chorizo Arepa was filled with burnt meat and the Cocacola Rice was bland compared to the popping flavors we experienced at our last visit. La Gringa Arepa was decent, but the ultra juicy beef in the Arepa Burger was probably the saving grace of dinner. And of course, we had the faithful sauces to rely on. **As one Yelper has tipped, mix the Pineapple sauce with any of the other ones to pimp it up a notch.** A few words from a guest Yelper who also dined with us that evening: What were you expecting going in? I was yearning for the crispy yuca and mouth-watering chorizo that had wowed me at their Lakewood location just weeks before. What was the highlight of the evening? The worst part? My friend left her Angus arepa unattended as she got up to go to the bathroom, allowing me to take one savory bite. Her cold leftovers were lightyears ahead of the bland cocacola rice and burnt chorizo that had come "fresh". Would you go back? I'm not sure if we ordered the wrong things that night, so I would give it one more shot. But if Barroco disappoints again, I'd go back only if McDonald's discontinues their value menu.

Barroco is a trendy, Colombian restaurant with a vibrant atmosphere filled with upbeat music and colorful decor. The menu offers a variety of options but they are known for their Arepas! The food comes in decently large portions served with 5 different tangy/creamy sauces to amplify your dishes -- I really enjoyed the spicy chipotle and garlic aioli (table favorites). Additionally; the food comes out hot and crispy and everything was filled with flavor! I had the La Sucia and it was spot on -- great choice if you're indecisive! We also had the cheesy corn and chorizo and it did not disappoint! It's a great app to start if you have a group that don't mind the extra calories :) We heard about the Toastadas con Todo and will hopefully be back with a large enough group to devour it! Check out their happy hour options and brunch too! The only downside is that the price point is a bit high and some items may be a little under-seasoned, but it balances well when you can add the different sauces they offer!

I really enjoy the atmosphere at barroco, alongside the cozy arepas. While the arepas are very tasty, I have had a couple experiences where the arepa itself was over cooked, and too crispy to eat. As a while however, the food has always tasted good and it is a solid lunch/dinner spot for Latin food and drinks. As a side note, while the desserts looks really cool, they are fairly generic. Either way, they are fun to share and photo well, so I guess it balances out.

Wow! This place is the real deal for traditional Latin food. I got the Veija Arepa with plantains and sangria. Everything was delicious. The arepa was bursting with cheese, meat, sweet peppers and more plantains!! Next time I'd probably get the black beans for my side because the arepa was already stuffed with plantains. However they were delicious as a side too. I also got the red sangria. It was beautiful to look at. It was a bit too sweet, but a nice balance with the carbs. I was definitely full after eating here.

I love this place! It's a cheery place on Larchmere and I hope more restaurants like it come nearby. There is plenty of street parking nearby, but you probably need to go on a side street during peak hours. My boyfriend and I made a reservation beforehand and were seated right away. There was live music the night we went but we still opted to sit outside since it was pretty loud in the main dining hall. The outside is really cute! There are umbrellas in case there's sun, and string lights once it gets dark. We ordered a margarita which was tasty but pretty weak. We got the pineapple jalapeno guac to start. I thought the guac portion was pretty small given the price and the amount of chips. The pineapple was also canned. For our entrees, we got arepas which are all 16$. I got the maduros as a side which are fried sweet plantains and my boyfriend got yuca fries which tasted like potatoes. In general, our meals were tasty but a little on the pricier side.

I found Barroco years ago when they only had one location in Lakewood and it was BYOB. Fast forward to present day, they have 3 locations, full bars, and the quality hasn't gone down at all. I was lucky their expansion brought them East, as I'm a regular at the Larchmere location. The layout has a good amount of tables, large bar seating area, and good parking options in the surrounding area. One of the underrated things I really like is the menu, and how they have a "dictionary"of their menu items. This makes it much easier when bringing first timers so they can make a good choice and have a good experience. You can't go wrong with the menu of Arepa's, but the best one I've had so far is the "Ropa Vieja". The "Condado Cheese Dip" was also great during my last visit. On the weekends, they also have live music, and offer a complimentary tequila shot in a lime upon arrival (my last few visits at least). This location also has brunch now, which I will have to return and try during my next visit. Highly recommend.

Wow! Quite some time has passed since an experience warranted a Yelp review from me but this is it! I was in Cleveland for work and found Barroco on Yelp and decided to check it out. This place is a gem! I love all food types and eat a lot of Caribbean so I LOVE flavor...Barroco is the perfect blended family of all things Latin. In other words...flavor galore! There were so many choices I literally asked my server, who turned out to be the manager, to recommend a dish that would make me remember this place. He over-delivered!! The Columbian dish, Bandeja Paisa, "from the grill" was absolutely amazing! It had a little bit of everything...rice, beans, plantains, beef, pork, avocado, the kitchen sink...hold the egg, whatever! Way more food than one person can eat so I definitely didn't finish but if I were back at home, that would have been a nice "to go" plate! There is not a single reason you shouldn't try this place and go back many times! Great service, food, alcohol...what else do you need? P.S. don't you dare go there and order a burger and fries...try the authentic food.

Came here for dinner with a few friends. We were greeted with a welcome tequila shot. Ordered a veggie arepa with a side of yucca fries and sriracha guac. The guac was creamy and had a good level of spice to it. The arepa filling was pretty good, but the arepa itself was a little dry and was lacking some flavor. The yucca fries were well seasoned and it was fun trying out their different sauces. It was also a bit pricy for the quality but I would come back for happy hour. It is a fun atmosphere and often has live music!

Most of the stars here go for the service. The woman waiting on me and the one other table in the restaurant was extremely nice without being annoying, and my lunch order came out quickly. The food itself wasn't amazing. The fries were good, but the garlic aioli was very heavy and oily tasting without much garlic flavor. The arepas suffered similarly from a lack of flavor (aside from the OVEREHELMING amount of sour slaw heaped on top) and an odd dryness. The restaurant is cute and I would consider coming back and trying something else, but this first experience was middling.

This was a busy place on a Saturday night, got here around 5pm with the majority of tables already reserved. By the time we finished our meal, every table was occupied and many parties were awaiting tables. tl;dr: make a reservation to snag a table on weekends! Food was good, a wide variety of arepas and other entrees, but was a little pricey for the food. I would recommend the sancocho which is definitely enough to fill you up! The patacones are also a good choice and large portion, but a little heavier. I wouldn't say the food is super authentic though. Overall a nice ambiance and a fun place for a meal.

Sauce. Yes, you heard right. I said sauce. Sauce can elevate a dish or make a dish flop. Here at Barroco, they have a roulette of sauces to match whatever your taste buds desire. I'm fan of their sauces and their sides. We got one of the sucia arepa with yuca fries and one mexicana arepa with maduros. We also shared an order of the cheesy corn with chicken. The arepas were huge, but also hard and dry. We definitely didn't need to order an appetizer since it was a lot of food. The cheesy corn was good minus the arepa fries (again, too hard and dry). Overall, I think this place is a solid 3-3.5 based on their arepas (which seems like the go to thing to get here). Strange, but best part about this place was everything but the arepas.

Barroco is not only the most colorful restaurant I have ever been to, but it also has a very delicious and diverse (and artistically entertaining) menu of Colombian food to offer. I brought my mother here with me on a weekday afternoon. Street parking was easy and convenient to find along Larchmere Blvd, and there was no wait to be seated in the restaurant. We ordered and shared the Barroco Salad, Steak Patacon, and the Reina Pepiada Arepa - and the most important takeaway is that their plantains (Maduros and Tostones) will make you wonder why you don't have plantains every day of your life. The food comes in large plate portions, so you will certainly be filled to your heart's content (if not, just order more Maduros...) One thing I did notice is that the meats (beef and chicken, in my case) did not have as much seasoning flavoring on their own, however you can request from a selection of 5 different tangy and creamy sauces to be brought to the table to compliment the dishes - my favorite was the garlic aioli. Another plus about this restaurant is that there is live music, so there is no paucity of entertainment while dining here. Also, if you are someone who likes to prioritize which foods to eat first when they arrive on the table, choose the Arepa - it is best eaten immediately while still hot from the kitchen!

Two weeks ago when we tried to come on a Saturday night they were completely closed when we arrived 10pm, although their website says that they are open until 11pm. Apart from that, I really enjoy their food! Their arepas and other entrees tend to be very filling and on the heavy side, even though it may not look like a lot of food. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Definitely try all the homemade sauces that they offer on the table to find your favorite-- mine is the garlic sauce!

First time I've ever had an arepas. I had a veggie version of the huevos rancheros. It was very good and it came with a side of black bean soup (also vegetarian). My husband had Arepa Paisa and he was impressed as well. I'm was another huge portion with a side of Maduros (plantains). Those were good too. W did take out and didn't eat our dinners for a good hour after purchase. The food was fresh and not soggy. Hostess that took my order was so friendly and informative. She shared about the culture of the food and background. No liquor license yet but you can bring your own beer and wine which is awesome. Will be back soon.

I wish I had 10 stars. Amazing. Blows Paladar out of the water. I had ropa vieja. Tender pork, sweet. Really fantastic rice, and I know my rice. The black beans were savory. Sweet plantains. Perfect! My daughter had arepas - she loved them. The service was good. There's a guitarist, sweet older man w a hat and his sweet cheering him on. Love this place.

Went to the Lakewood location last summer, then saw the Groupon for the Larchmere location and decided to go! We got the Mexicana arepa with tostones and chorizo arepa with maduros. So. Much. Food. Doesn't look like it but the fullness grows on you after the meal... It expandings in your stomach. We also got the Auga de Panela and the Caipirinha brazilera drinks. Both were a little on the lime side but still good. Went during dinner rush on a Saturday night but were able to snag a seat at the bar instead of having to wait for a table to open up. Win. Bar staff was awesome.

Omg...what a disaster of a night! I've dined at the original Barroco location in Lakewood since about the time they opened and the service, food, and atmosphere has always been superb. I figured I would enjoy a similar experience at the newer east side location. Boy was I wrong. We came in at 6:30 on a Wednesday night with a reservation for a group of 10 and at the time we were seated, there were no other diners in the restaurant. The server was nice and took our drink orders, wich took a while to come out. Once we placed our food orders, we waited for over 2 HOURS to receive our food. Table after table that were seated after us were served their food while our table sat and waited and waited while getting hangrier and hangrier... No apologies were issued by the waitress until after some people in our party spoke up to another server. I started squirting sauces on my plate to eat since there was no real food in sight. At the 2 hour mark, we were planning to just pay our drink tab and leave, but our server said the food would be right out, so we continued to wait. When the food finally started coming out, it was served luke warm, but I was so hungry I didn't care and inhaled everything. My Arepa was pretty good, but not up to the original location's standards. My girlfriend's mom ordered a salad and it was so saturated with dressing, she only took a few bites and had enough. We asked for the check and they apparently couldn't separate the bill, so we had to go up to the cashier and tell them what we ordered to get rung out. Ugh... I'll stick with going to the Lakewood Barroco.

We went here for a late dinner with friends on a lovely July day. Had some high hopes for yummy sandwiches with unique ingredients and sides. I was definitely pleased with my experience overall! We started off ordering the Chocolate Lover Merengadas to share (because obviously). It was definitely a sight to see, piled high with vanilla ice cream (nothing special), maybe a gallon of chocolate syrup (amazing), and cookies and brownies! It even needed a little straw in it for structural support, which was amusing. By the time our group of five handled the Merengadas our food came by. I got the Huevos Rancheros Arepa with a side of Yuca fries. Delish! While I wanted more yuca fries than they gave me, they were simple and tasty nonetheless. Great to dip in the five sauces they provided. The best sauces were the pineapple and chimichurri. I found the garlic aioli to be the worst - the texture was off and it was overwhelmingly garlicky. As for the main, I had no complaints! Everything was nicely seasoned and really worked together. The reason why this wasn't a 5 star position was the service and cleanliness of the establishment. Unfortunately one member of our party never got a margarita she requested, and they didn't heed her request to remove an ingredient from her arepa. As for the cleanliness, there were multiple dead flies near the window where we were seated - not very appetizing! All in all, swing by for something new and for a pretty decent happy hour. You probably won't be disappointed!

This place is soooo good We go here at least once a month for great Spanish food and drinks! Some weeks they have live music as well. Worth the stop and $ 100%

Barroco is my go-to spot for any special occasion or whenever I just want a good meal with an upbeat, trendy atmosphere. Everything about this place is amazing - the drinks, the milkshakes, the arepas, the entrees, the service, the free tequila shots - all of it is A++! I have never frequented a restaurant with such consistent quality of every dining element. Every staff member here is friendly and helpful. They know the menu extremely well, and offer some amazing suggestions. For example, we wanted to get a pitcher but weren't sure what to get. The waitress recommended the mojito pitcher, so we went with it even though it was everyone's last choice. We ended up making the right choice, however, and it was quite possibly the best drink pitcher I have ordered anywhere. It was a very balanced drink, as it wasn't too sugary or too minty. I highly recommend! I always order the house beer - it's basically a beer sangria and I live for it. My go-to favorites are the carne asada (oh my gosh - so tender and a hugeee potion!) and the ropa vieja (both entree and arepa are fantastic). The boyfriend always orders the churrasco, which melts in your mouth beautifully! I recently came here with a large group who had never visited, and they were all RAVING about their choices! I am obsessed with the arepa tortillas; they have such a unique consistency and flavor that make them super addicting. The yuzu fries are also a must! I will have to say - one of the best parts of the Barroco experience is the sauce. The green and red sauce (forgive me - I don't want to butcher the names) are incredibly tasty. If it was acceptable, I would order a to-go box and fill it with only green sauce. Wow. During the last visit, there was a live band playing. I usually hate live bands, but the music was really good and half the restaurant was dancing which made the experience so much more fun than anticipated! The only problem I have is that my friend accidentally pulled into the alleyway looking for parking and a guy in the band yelled at her and made her cry. But what can you do??

My wife and I have ordered from here on Uber Eats before (the Lakewood location) and enjoyed the food immensely, so we decided to make a stop into our local location in Shaker. First, the interior - it's absolutely stunning! That's really all I can say but it's definitely cool. The only negative is the configuration makes some tables very close together which can make getting in and out of a spot a little tricky. The food was good. Not blow-my-socks-off good, but good and solid. I got the ropa vieja, which is what I normally get, and while it was good it wasn't as good as what I've gotten from the Lakewood location. My wife really enjoyed her food though and had only good things to say. We split one of the mason jar sundae's and while yummy, it was definitely overpriced for what it was. I'd recommend getting one for the experience (and the Instagram) but that's about it. They are definitely huge so plan to share one!

Their food is delicious!! Atmosphere is even better! I have heard that their Lakewood location is even better. Arepas were great to try and this was my first time. I love their variety sauces complimentary that they brought to your table. Most of the comes with a side and I picked fries which were great with the sauces. We stopped at during the week at lunch and sat down at outside. You must come when you have plenty time to sit and enjoy because service is slow and you know what. It is okay. As long as I eat a delicious meal! They are located on Main Street and parking is slightly hidden at the back of the restaurant.

Wow, love this place. Arepas are the bomb. Just about everything is excellent. Fresh ingredients, careful preparation, and great service. They have something for just about everyone, even evil vegans.

Barroco is one of my very favorites!! I've been to this location 5 or 6 times. I love their arepas and house made guacamole. Also the fried plantain chips are to DIE for. They have a solid happy hour menu as well if you just want to stop by for a drink at the bar. They have live music often, and it's LOUD. Just make sure not to come here on a live music night if you're looking to converse intensely or relax! (Call ahead to find out)

Had to say I'm a little disappointed after eating here. The menu looks delectable, but the arepas really left me disappointed. Not to be "that guy" but I've had arepas in South America and these are practically microwaveable hot pockets in comparison. The ingredients lacked quality and the taste overall lacked excitement. The atmosphere was fun and drinks were great during happy hour so I'd recommend highly for a quick appetizer and drink but not a full meal. Prices are too high for the quality

Great atmosphere and the servers/bartenders are always make you feel welcome. I always get a drink and their cheesy chicken queso with their arepas after I go to the salon. Never a disappointment. If you're looking at this review and wondering if you should stop here - you should.

First off. Let me start by saying I Love Arepas and was excited to cap my trip to Cleveland off by eating dinner here. I enjoyed Barroco. It was especially a nice surprise when we walked in and found a live band setting up for a night of great music. The tequila shot that was offered by the nice gentleman seating us was also a nice touch and definitely welcoming. After we got seated our server came over and greeted us a short time later and took our drink order. I of course ordered the mojito. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't knock your socks off either. Kind of sad that I couldn't order the house punch. It sounded better and it comes in a large bowl. My husband ordered the El Socialista. It was essentially a rum and coke. We ordered the Empanadas Colombianas and Maduros con Queso. The Empanadas were hot and fresh with perfect seasoning. The Maduros were heaven. You put plaintains and queso together and you have a winner. For the entree I ordered the Mexicana arepa sub the braised beef for the chorizo with a side of Maduros. Fantastic! This to me was also the perfect time try all 5 of their sauces. All paired well with my meal except for the pineapple one. As good as it was by itself it didn't go with braised beef. But Omg did I want to take a bottle of the other ones home with me. Soooo good. Other guest at the table ordered the fajitas con arepa, the steak arepa, and ropa vieja. Everything looked good and I didn't hear any complaints. Everyone seemed to busy chowing down and listening to the awesome live band. If I go back I will definitely try another arepa or get the Barroco Picada or Tostadas con Todo. Both of these options are good for groups and seems like it has something for everyone.

So I have been wanting to go to this place forever. I can never make time. I live closer to the Lakewood one but this location wasn't too far either. Parking on street wasn't hard to find. The neighborhood is a solid 7/10 to walk around evening time. The place is just it's completely beautiful. We shared apps and Arepas. The arepas I've been wanting to try. I like the Corn quesadillas at Tapatias on Lorain, this is a similar texture like a little crunchy sandwich very good. It maintained its texture and didn't get soggy, which is my pet peeve. I'm all about texture. The drinks, we did the $5 margaritas. At first I was disappointed bc there's only one option and it's not flavored. I don't like the plain lime ones. Well I was totally wrong. No need for extra flavors this was good on its own. Lovely server very attentive even though the patio was a madhouse probably partly bc of the yelp event. She was still on it. Five stars for her alone. I actually double tipped her lmao Will return! So should you!!

I ordered a couple of items for takeout today at Barroco. I got Sancocho De Doña Liliana, Ropa Vieja arepa, la sucia arepa and beef empanadas with fried yucca and Madurai as the sides. I really love everything I got. However, I found the arepas to be a bit mushy and floury. The fillings were great just I don't think they went well with the arepas. The soup was absolutely delicious, a bit salty but went perfectly well with the rice. Moreover, I have to say that the fried yucca they have is one of the best fried yucca I ever had. They just knew how to pick the right yucca, or I was there on a right day. I definitely would come back again and get other dishes but probably not the arepas.

Happy hour kinda offsets many of my earlier grievances: cheaper, faster, and still featuring all of the best qualities of my earlier review. I'm glad that we gave Barroco a second try. I still think that it's a bit of a tough place to put together a vegan meal (I'm not sure that they'd disagree or are really going for that, alas), but the concept, the space, and the food are doing some pretty cool things. We're likely to see you again, Barroco.
