Barrow Salon

I booked an appointment with Jamie Chow at Barrow Salon and won't be going back. I checked in five minutes early for my haircut appointment, but Jamie was late by 30 minutes. I mentioned that while I understand delays can happen, I would've appreciated a heads-up. Her response? That she doesn't give notifications and I should find another stylist. Barrow has a strict 15-minute late policy for clients--you're charged a late fee if you miss that window. It feels completely one-sided when the salon doesn't offer the same courtesy in return. The issue wasn't just the wait--it was how closed off they were to feedback. I left feeling dismissed and disrespected. Definitely not the experience I expected or will repeat.

It's a nice salon, but I was not happy with my haircut. I was with Jackie and asked for a layers haircut. I even showed her a couple of pictures to make sure that there is no miscommunication about what I want. When she was done with my hair, several times I asked her for corrections, but after a few times, I just gave up and stopped complaining. My layers are not right, and they're certainly not symmetric. I unfortunately didn't have the energy on the day to complain and ask for a manager, etc. and tbh, Jackie is an extremely nice person, not a good at haircuts, certainly not good at layers. It's so bad I certainly need another haircut very soon to fix it.

Jackie is a wizard. Since my first razor cut last summer, I’ll never go back to just scissors. That said, I was looking for a specific salon who specialized in razor and was referred to Barrow.

Myles is very talented. If you have bangs, want face framing, layers - go to him! Before my cut, he explained in detail methods of cutting bangs so I could decide what style I wanted. He definitely knows what he is doing to get what you want. Also, he's a very nice person.

My favorite hair blowout ever! I'm visiting SF from NYC for an educational video shoot, and I needed to do something with my hair that would last several days. Carissa is such a star. She listened intently about what I was going for and made a great recommendation of what we should do with my hair. Not only did she give me my favorite blowout in my lifetime, she took the time to tell me how to care for it so it would last several days. Highly recommend Barrow and Carissa!

I cannot recommend this place enough! Eileen gave me the best balayage of my life and Jamie gave me the best haircut of my life. They're my dream hair team - worth every penny! They listened carefully to what I wanted and recommended modifications based on my hair color, lifestyle, etc.

This is now my go to place for hair! Dakota is a freaking hair coloring magician! I came to her with a balayage that had too many highlights and not a true natural look. I can't tell you exactly what she did (she did a lot) but I am SOOOO much happier with my hair. She really took the time to ask me what I liked and didn't like about my current hair, what the ultimate goals was, looked at pictures I had found and took the time to make sure I was happy with what she thought was best before proceeding. OH, and they offer coffee, tea and water while you're there which was such a wonderful addition to the services. Not only that but the music is kickin' and whole studio is absolutely beautiful. :) Update from 7/9/22 and 9/10/22: I have since been to David Tolls for a haircut and Dakota again for another color session and still amazed at the skill from them both. Dakota made my hair look even better since the last time I saw her and David was recommended to me by a long term client of his. I would highly recommend them both to anyone looking in the Bay Area.

I would give Myles 6 stars if I could. I came in with a haircut I was not happy with and he listened to my vision and took the time to ask questions about my hair to make the haircut I wanted work for me. He is so great at working with individual hair types to create something I’m truly so happy with. He is so good with unique and alternative styles- I came in with bowl cut bangs and left with the wolf cut of my dreams. I’m leaving with godlike layers and looking like Patti Smith. Beyond the haircut, chatting in the chair with him was a genuinely fun experience. 10/10 would recommend.

It was my first time at Barrow and everyone made me feel so welcome. Carissa did my cut and I'm so grateful for her. I came in with the worst grow out, no shape to my hair and the layers not blended properly. Carissa was able to blend everything with keeping the length and put texture back in. My natural hair is part curly and wavy so getting a great hair cut is a struggle. But Carissa nailed it and I'll be back to see her again! Thank you Carissa for being such an artist and making me feel like my best self!

I'm going to be honest here - before today, the only person I've been happy with cutting my hair was David Tolls who I lost in touch with over a decade ago when he moved (from a different salon and I moved from SF). Then I found out he was at Barrow but wow, his price escalated from when I used to see him (as a working artist and parent, I can no longer afford his talent!) So I researched other artists there and their work on IG and decided on Carissa. Today was my first time with Carissa at Barrow. I can't recommend her high enough! I'm Asian-American and I've thick long hair. Either I've the problem of it being over-cut or under-cut and no previous stylist has gotten the shape I've wanted (except David). From the moment I sat in her chair and told her what I wanted she understood. And I could tell watching her and how she used her scissors that I was with an artist and excellent technician (she told be she was trained by David: win-win). She gave me exactly what I wanted and I was so happy to see myself with my dream hair! Carissa also has a pleasant personality which was the proverbial icing on the cake - perfection all around!!! And added plus - I loved the location, the well appointed interior design, the gorgeous plants and the view of the bay! My kind of place :)

Just had my second hair cut with Jackie and it was perfect. So happy with how she cut and styled my hair. -She listens to exactly how you want your hair done and executes it even better than what you asked for. -She is super friendly, professional, so sweet, accommodating, and easy to talk to. -Best scalp massages. Heaven. -Beautiful, clean, trendy salon. -They use the best hair products. -My hair grows out nicely after she cuts my hair and it feels healthy and looks so shiny.

Review is for Jackie- after years of not having bangs I decided to go for it again. Having heard great things about this salon previously and seeing how highly rated it was, I decided to give it a try. Jackie was incredible. She was so attentive to what I wanted for my hair, and gave me one the exact haircut I was hoping for. She got my input throughout the process but also used her expertise to help me figure out what would look best. She's clearly very skilled, and it was an awesome experience! Having had some pretty bad haircuts in the past I get super nervous before trying a new stylist, but I was SO happy with my haircut and had full trust in her the entire process. The space itself is gorgeous with beautiful views of the bay and very New York esque. Will definitely be coming back and recommending this place and Jackie to my friends.

I would follow David Tolls to the ends of the earth but fortunately I only had to follow him to this lovely salon. Stacked with Oribe products and the glorious feeling of having my hair washed by another human again after two years, I was in hair heaven last I stepped through the doors. I started seeing David years ago when I decided to ask a coworker with beautiful hair where she goes. "Oh David!" She said with a knowing grin. "You'll love him!" Indeed I do. David is a hair genius. Or maybe actually more of a guru because he seems to commune with the hair in order to figure out exactly what would look best on you and deliver gloriously glistening results. I've gone in with super specific ideas in mind as well as zero ideas at all and I have always left happy. Hence, I have gone back year after year. He's super up on the trends so I know I'm going to look cute and current even when trying out something with 70s flair. Even my husband, who refuses to spend money on a haircut, raved about the cuts that he's gotten from David. So he's definitely versatile for long, short, whatever! I also appreciate when I go for bang trims that he cleans it all up a bit with the razor, not just the bangs. I have super thick hair and it gets super heavy. A refresh is always...well beyond refreshing. Bonus points for being super kind and hilarious to chat with. Me and my hair love you, David!

I love everything about Barrow! I especially love David for my cut and Michael for my color! I always leave there feeling like my best self. I have been following both of them for over 20 years they never disappoint!

UPDATE: The salon contacted me to share that the lack of sizing was an oversight and and will be rectified within the week. I greatly appreciate their attention in reaching out to me separately. The stylist was lovely. She listened to my request and provided a lovely experience. She was clearly talented and knows her craft. I would give her 5 stars. My 3 stars are for the salon. I am a plus size woman and a basic need is that the robe that is provided fits over All body sizes and types. When I was handed a robe that literally did not come close to fitting I was immediately out off. How does a salon who starts haircuts at $120 not have many sized available and the stylist makes sure the client has a robe that fits? I'd like to come back, however I wouldn't unless I knew my plus size body would be accepted; accommodated and more importantly, celebrated - the way my money is!

Jackie was amazing and provided me the exact haircut I described without even showing her any reference photos. She was personable, kind, professional, and easy going. This was my first time at this salon and can be intimidating but the staff were all so friendly and accommodating. The salon is also aesthetically pleasing and I had such a relaxing experience.

I promise you won't get a better haircut in San Francisco. Michelle and her team are the best of the best and she runs a very tight ship. So appreciated after years of working with a stylist (somewhere else) who was always running 45 minutes+ late! Everything that this team does is equal parts precision and heart. Your hair will thank you.

Michelle is simply the best hair stylist in SF. Love the new location, too, very SoHo-like space. Give yourself a couple extra minutes to find the studio if it's your first time.

I've been going to Eileen for a few years and she's so amazing with color! (She's just amazing all around) So thorough and thoughtful and really listens to what you want. It's hard to find a good colorist and honestly she just has the gift. Not to mention her assistant Carissa gives a bad ass blow out before sending you off. Bonus

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE! So, I was looking for a nice salon to get a haircut for a very important upcoming conference. I scheduled an appointment with Barrow salon almost two months prior and the day before my flight. To get the haircut, I took a PTO cause it's tough to find time to go somewhere in the middle of the day. First, they rescheduled it without notification. I was a little shocked, but as soon as it was vital for me, and there was no other choices-I ate it. A couple of hours before my appointment, I received a message from the person in charge of my haircut that she was sick and couldn't do it. Not that I can control her sickness, but there was NO REPLACEMENT or not even a suggestion for me on what to do. So without no choice, I was left without a haircut; I lost a day of my PTO that I couldn't cancel. And on such short notice, I couldn't find anyone who could help. Very pissed with the customer service; if your employee is sick, find a replacement or suggest a different time.

Jamie has been cutting my hair for about two years now and she really is the BEST at what she does. I get so many compliments on my hair and she gets all the credit. I'm so happy I found her because I have never had such a great cut like I've had with her, I will follow her if she ever moves! She's also just an all around sweetie :) The salon is super cute too and I just love going in there!

Halloween came early this year with my hair looking like a mad women from it not being cut for over a year. I had some disastrous haircut experience at another salon where I asked for two inches off and it ended up with 6 inches being cut off instead. I was a little nervous to get my hair done but my dried ends was driving me nuts. My fears were put at ease by Jamie. Jamie brought my hair back to life! I got a long layered haircut and I LOVEE that she took her time with my hair and not just rush it so she could get more clients into the chair. For most places when I ask for a layered haircut they would just razor parts of my hair off but Jamie used the scissors for her technique. My hair is pretty thick and hard to manage but she really helped me lighten the load off my head and gave it some moment. Kudos to the service I got at this salon by Jamie and the owner. Magnificent job and I'd highly recommend this place

I was desperate for a haircut and went to a random salon that had an opening three months ago. Alas, the random salon made me look like a mushroom from Super Mario. I waited until my hair grew out then booked an appointment with Michelle. And, I love it, love it, love it! My hair has texture, my hair has movement, my hair frames my face really well! In fact, it's so nice that I got two compliments that afternoon. Michelle and David are my go to. Their schedules get filled up quickly, but you can't go wrong with either. Highly recommend them both! Remember, good things come to those who wait!

Here to update my review 3 years later.. Still so wonderful. I love their new location. Great views, comfortable, easily accessed in my opinion. Michael is my new stylist. He's a wonderful person, and listened to what my expectations were. Fantastic conversation too! Lizzy cut my hair last time. She's also phenomenal. Loving the Barrow experience!

Getting an appointment with Michelle was worth the wait. I've been afraid to cut my hair short after a few botched jobs and the many hours of maintenance those old cuts took. Michelle expertly tamed my extra thick hair with her shears and razors. My new short do requires ZERO maintenance - I wash my hair, put on a little styling cream on the ends, let it air dry, and brush it. I've received so many compliments and have inspired a few others with long hair to take the plunge for a shorter look. I'm so happy with my new cut! If you're looking for an amazing hair cut, do yourself a favor, and go to Barrow!!

This place is gorgeous. The large windows bring in bright light and make the space extremely inviting. Parking was easy to find which was a huge plus. I went to see Eileen for a full balayage and she is AMAZING. If you are looking for a new colorist, look no further than her. She does a thorough consultation and walks you through all the options available to fit your lifestyle and hair goals. She is incredibly easy to talk to and always does an amazing job. Thanks Eileen for great hair!

I followed Myles here from his old spot on the basis of a SINGLE haircut and I am so glad I did. He's amazing with curly hair! Super meticulous, really listens to you, and has a great modern sensibility. He's also just a lovely and kind person. Highly recommend!

Jamie gave me the best haircut of my life! Tbh I was a little bit anxious about what a $175 haircut had over a less expensive haircut, but now I would go to Jamie for the rest of my life. I have very dense and fine Indian hair and Jamie cut it so that it looks flattering air dried, blown out, pulled up, etc. Cant recommend a cut from her enough.

I always get the most amazing haircut here with Heather!! She's super nice and sweet, and most importantly, she's so passionate in her job! I came here twice, and Heather never ceases to fail me to cut the haircut of my dream! I also love how she never forces me to purchase any hair products from the salon! Overall, this salon is clean and very spacious! I love how friendly everyone is in the salon! If you do want to get a haircut or even a blowout, I will highly recommend Heather!

Jamie is THE BEST. Friendly, talented, amazing all around. She really listens to you describe your daily routine and what you're looking for, and makes sure you're absolutely comfortable at every stage of the process.

I got my hair done with Eileen yesterday for the first time, partial highlights, and was incredibly disappointed in my experience. To preface I have gotten my hair done at luxury salons across the country and have never had an experience like this. I had my appointment at 10 am yesterday, arrived and told her what I was looking for. She did not inquire much into the description I provided but started on the foils right away, which took about an hour to do. However at this point another client arrived, another client for Eileen, which I was confused about because my appointment was not even halfway over. She started consulting the new client and then started dying her hair. My hair had processed and as I was wondering who was going to wash it out an assistant came over and said she was going to wash and tone my hair. This was very surprising because there was no mention in my booking that Eileen would not be doing my entire appointment, the only reason I would pay $270 for partial highlights is knowing the senior stylist is doing everything. The assistant also acted like she had no idea that the scalp had nerves and pulled my hair harder than any stylist in my life has pulled my hair during my root smudge. It literally felt like she was trying to pull my scalp off. They also did not consult me for what tone I wanted my hair to end up and it is now a very ashy cool toned blonde that I did not want. After it was toned I went back to sit in the chair when ANOTHER appointment for Eileen showed up and she started to do their hair while the other woman got her hair washed by the assistant and I sat there with wet hair waiting for someone to blow dry it. Eventually the assistant came back and blow dried my hair and then basically pushed me out the door without showing me my hair up close or anything. Overall 2/3 of my appointment was done by an assistant and I do not like my hair. Literally will never come back to this salon, who books three overlapping appointments?? It felt disrespectful and like a scam. I would never pay $270 for an assistant to take over my hair appointment, probably would have gotten the same hair at my local mom and pop salon.

I have been a customer at Barrow for over 2.5 years. I was first introduced by Corinna, but when she left for maternity leave I went to Jamie. Jamie is an absolutely angel, sweetheart, badass woman! She has given me the BEST haircuts of my life. This includes layering my long locks up to when I ultimately decided to cut my hair the shortest I've ever had it. She makes me feel confident and beautiful. Now with Jamie being out for a time, I am seeing Michelle, and while she is extremely pricey it is super worth it to me. She also lets me book 'bang trims' to clean up the edges every few months in between, which I very much appreciate. My only feedback for Barrow would be around their receptionist team. There is really only one gal who has ever been warm to me. I am not sure what it is, but whether it's on the phone or in person they seem rather cold, which is the total opposite vibe of the entire salon. Go to Barrow if you want the best haircut. I also know several ladies who see Becky for color and they look amazing!

Love love love this salon! I finally found my go to salon in SF (after living in NYC and LA), and let me tell you...it's a gem. Marcella is my go to for cut, and Bekie does an incredible job on color. That said, I also just got a bang trim from Alex whom was equally lovely as a human and a professional. If you want next level hair from incredibly talented creatives, this is the spot to go.

Best hair salon experience I've had in years. I've been bopping from salon to salon, from NY to LA (and even Copenhagen) and I finally found a stylist who can cut my hair properly. Thanks to in-depth research on Instagram, I was able to find Nichole! What drew me to her were her client Before/After pics and reference pics. It showed that she has a good eye for aesthetics. I noticed that everyone at Barrow--both staff and clients--were very stylish, which is always a good sign. Nichole added subtle invisible layers to my thick hair to give it movement and dusted off the dried ends. I also got a hair glossing treatment from Bekie and felt like I walked out with a brand new head of hair.

Jamie was great ! And I loved my haircut. Great experience. :) will definitely be coming back!

David Tolls has moved to Barrow Salon! In case you haven't experienced David's amazing scissor skillz, you need to follow him here for the most amazing cut of your life. I found David ten years ago and have loved every cut. People ask where I get my hair done level cuts! Plus he's a nice guy who has cut for rockstars such as Courtney Love and Florence and the Machine and Vogue and Paper.

Nichole was referred to me by my previous hairstylist, Tim. I have been refraining from writing a review because I wanted to keep her all to myself. Let's just say, if there was such thing as having a soulmate for hair, then Nichole is my soulmate!!! I live in the East Bay, but I travel to SF just to see her as I tend to be loyal to people who take care of me. I have long hair and I work in the biotech industry, so I like a haircut with less maintenance. I usually keep my hair straight during the week and curly over the weekend. She is truly amazing because I don't have to tell her how what I want, she just knows what to do. I always leave the salon thinking, "wow, that was exactly what I wanted." I made a mistake a couple months ago for seeing a hairstylist around my neighborhood as I was in dire need of a cut. Fortunately, my "hair soulmate" fixed the bad cut. Thank you for always taking care of me, Nichole!

Today was my first time here. I was a model for Jamie for a razor cut. She took her time, asked me what I wanted and if I had any issues with my hair. Welp I have long thick hair and lately it's been very blah and weighed down. I wanted to chop it off but she advised against this since my hair is so healthy. She stated she could take some of the weight off and only remove a little length so I said go for it. Welp I'm so glad I let her do her thing.... I love it! My hair now has texture and feels so light weight. My hair rocks thanks so much!!! She was so sweet and even asked me to contact her if I had any styling questions.

UPDATE: Had my color done by Eileen the day after my cut with Corinna. It looks INCREDIBLE! Eileen is so intuitive about hair color and somehow knows exactly how to place low-lights (in my case) to achieve the natural look I asked for. Everything was hand-painted, and Eileen's attention to detail impressed me so much! What was really mind-blowing is that this is the first time she has ever colored my hair. In my past experience, it took a couple of visits before a colorist really got to know my hair - how fast it processes, how it holds color, etc. - but I feel like Eileen knew immediately just by looking at it. She is truly amazing. I'll be seeing her again very soon! I would have written about her sooner, but I just got home from an overseas trip where I felt fabulous the whole time thanks to the lovely ladies at Barrow. Thank you, Eileen! Well, it only took 29 years, but I think I finally know what my hair is supposed to look like. Today I had my hair cut by Corinna, and I can honestly say it has never looked better in my entire life. I have had soooooo many hairstyles and colors over the years - it's a running joke in my family. But after a series of impulsive and ill-advised hair choices this year, I finally decided to splurge on a cut and color at Barrow after an always-gorgeous friend at work recommended the salon. This is the most expensive haircut I have ever gotten, but I can honestly say, it was worth every penny. It was so worth it, in fact, that I happily scheduled my next appointment for 12 weeks out IMMEDIATELY upon returning to work. I even debated whether or not to write this review, as I don't want to have a hard time getting an appointment with Corinna in the future, but she just really deserves all of these props and then some. Her talent is undeniable. Corinna, thank you for the the cutest, coolest, chicest shag cut of my dreams. Can't wait to see you again!

Just left this salon. I specifically asked for 8inches of hair to be cut (so I could donate to Pantene.) as well as the request for my hair to fall below my collar bone, mid back area, which we both agreed upon using mirrors and measure tape. Somehow now I'm holding a ziplock bag with two pony tails that measure 11inches plus and my hair reaches to the tops of my shoulders well above my collar bone. I'm miserable, this is so far and so short of what I asked for. In addition I shared a photo that was exactly as described above. I honestly have never been this disappointed and sad with my outcome, would never recommend this salon. Alex cut my hair.

I felt pretty meh about Barrow. I got my haircut with Corinna after seeing her reviews on here and checking her out on Instagram. I have no doubt that she is a fantastic hairstylist with a ton of experience, but I wouldn't recommend her if you have curly hair (I'm a 3A/B). I should have walked out the minute they brought me to the sink to get my hair washed, because I have NEVER ever in my life have had a good haircut when they cut it wet. I also didn't see one other curly head of hair among the 15+ other clients there. But I thought because the salon was $$$$ that she'd have a handle on it. I'm super disappointed with the cut (which was the most expensive of my life, btw - I could have flown to Mexico City! Sigh). Corinna highly underestimated how tightly my curls shrink up. I now have a triangle head, which any curly girl will tell you is our personal nightmare. I also have a weird chunk of hair in the front that is too short and flops in my eyes, so I've just taken to pinning everything back every day. She also added some asymmetry but again, because my hair is 30% shorter after drying, it just looks uneven. I don't think Corinna took the time to check out my curl pattern and I'm not confident she's experienced with textured hair. The reason she probably didn't have time to look closely is that is is PACKED in Barrow and they cycle people through like a factory. It is LOUD. Not relaxing, not intimate, not pampering. There is a ton going on and if it's important to you to spend time bonding with your stylist, this isn't the place - during my time there, Corinna saw three other clients as well. The haircut only took her 10 minutes, so if she can make the money all the more power to her, but I think I'll go back to Madu Salon where they know what they're doing and have a (what now seems reasonable) price tag of only $130. +1 star for her amazing assistant, who gave me a killer head massage and spent a long ass time blowing my hair out. It looked awesome while straight, so there's that - like I said, if you have straight hair I'm sure you'll be happy with your cut.

Jamie is a goddess and now I will never go any other place for my hair. Being a novice of hair myself she completely knew what to do and the results were beyond my expectations.

My stylist was so good he left for NYC to do hair for editorials and fashion shows around the world! He referred me to Nichole at Barrow. The I've got great hair for the red carpet moments +'s: + Booking is a cinch. Go online and create an account to see what slots are available. + Book Nichole. She is amazing!!! I was in need of a cut and she made beach waves undulate off my head. Got so many compliments that day and it held pretty well to the next day! Oribe textured spray is my new pal. + Nichole even taught me how to do it myself. Sharing is caring. + Reception upon arrival and exit was very courteous + Space is nice and airy on the 4th floor. Love the stations and how i can gaze at all the work around me. + Five star review for Nichole is justified when I get my gal pals asking who did my hair. The tangles -'s: - I don't know of any! I still got those beach waves on Day 2! Book well in advance. Those slots for Nichole don't linger.

I see David Tolls here for haircuts and Michelle has also helped me with bang trims. David does an incredible job with my hair - I followed him here from his previous salon and I will continue to follow him. Before switching to David, I used to fly to London for my haircuts. But no more - David gave me hair that makes me feel sexy, edgy and confident. I am so happy with all of my haircuts from him and have recommended him to a number of my friends who now all go to him. The salon is beautiful, open plan and flooded with light. I love the decor, especially the bathroom prints with the birds. Please go there.

Alx is the absolute best. My hair was super long and I hadn't been to a salon in over a decade. I wanted a big change but was super nervous about it all. I showed her pics of what I wanted and she gave me advice to which cut to choose out of all of them. This haircut gave me such a boost in confidence and I couldn't be happier. If you don't know what to do with your hair or if you are wanting a change, Alx is your girl.

NEVER FEAR MICHELLE SNYDER AND TEAM ARE HERE! For years, I've had my hair cut and colored with a private stylist from NYC, but when she decided she was going to take a break and start a family, her frequent flights out to my house in CA became no more. So I was recommended by my previous stylist's friend who happened to work with Michelle in NY. Eileen - Did a spectacular job fixing the color of my sun lightened hair into a luscious, dark cool chocolatey brown balayage for the winter. So talented and a good eye for style/ color that makes you feel comfortable, fierce, and gorgeous. Michelle- Is also talented and such an artist. Good perception for style and a meticulous eye for the best cut I've had in YEARS. I'm so happy to have finally found a salon I can say as my "go-to" salon! I'd also like to mention, it's been so hard, yet so important to find a stylist who can cut hair that LASTS in its form in between cuts when it grows out, but Michelle does it all. SO HAPPY!! **added bonus, free bang trims in between cuts ------- edit ------- Ladies & gentlemen, Michelle and Eileen does it again. This time, I went for the short hair style. My hair went from mid-way down my back to shoulder length. And I am LOVING it.

I have been having my hair cut and colored by Lizzy for more than 15 years. She's an amazing stylist. She always listens to what I want and makes me feel beautiful. She's an amazing addition to the Barrow team.

Really loved working with Alx. She is kind and committed to using really earth and client positive hair products. Her team made me feel welcome, and were taking good care of visitors. I jumped in to a new process a little apprehensive about the color that she was suggesting, however it turned out beautifully.

I am not a big fan of yelping but since the receptionist gave me an invalid email address for the manager, I am taking my fight to the internet. I was solicited by Mya to be a hair model. She told me my hair would be brown, as it was already brown, I didn't see a problem with dying it. My hair is black. I look gothic. Please see the attached picture where I am holding a black Honda key in my hair and the key matches my hair OR see the picture where I am holding a black book next to my hair and it is the same color as my hair. I reached out to Mya via text the same night I had my hair done that I was not satisfied with the color. She was less than helpful. She said she thought I liked it. I am honestly not sure where she got that idea from since, like I said, I contacted her only hours after leaving the salon. Please see our text communications that show she offers no solution to the problem she created. Mya told me this was a demi-permanent color treatment. I went to Salon A7 in North Beach (since I obviously can't walk around like this and needed to have it fixed immediately) and Jay told me it was so saturated in my hair, it looked to him to be a permanent solution and he said he was uncomfortable dying my hair because it would break and fall off where she dyed my roots vs my end color. Mya and I did have a brief consultation. Unfortunately, I didn't know what she was talking about because she said my hair was going to be an A-7 or A-6 color. I work in a restaurant. I don't know what A-7 OR A-6 color means!!! I hope this makes sense. I had no idea what she was talking about. When I was told brown, I thought she meant brown. Not black. I have always been under the impression that if you are a reputable salon, you will fix the mistake that you've made. I have an engagement shower and again, I look like a vamp. I don't want my family to remember me as the girl who looks like she's on the verge of cutting her arm. Mya offered to let me come in on Tuesday of the following week to have my hair blow dried by her. THATS NOT A SOLUTION TO THE FACT THAT SHE DYED MY HAIR BLACK! To the management: I hope you understand and can have a talk with your staff about how to adequately manage customer expectations because my expectations were not met. You should let the customer know before they sit down that Borrow Salon will not be held accountable for the outcome of their staff in the apprentice program and make them sign a waver agreeing to that. Borrow Salon: Please help me fix my hair. It is black and it is ugly. It is a major financial hardship to get my hair fixed because Borrow Salon has an unexperienced colorists.

I made an appointment with Heather for a haircut. She was lovely, gentle with my hair and respectfully listened to my request for just a trim so I can continue to grow it out. She is very knowledgable on upkeep, products and styles. Tuesdays are apparently quieter at the salon, which I loved. I am a huge fan of Oribe and that they exclusively use their products. I will absolutely return to Heather for my next cut.

When I was unemployed I was basically a professional hair model because I had so much free time and why wouldn't I want to spend it being pampered in a salon I could never afford otherwise? I've been cut, colored, blown out, balayaged, waxed, shaved, sprayed, and stood up at so many different salons by even more stylists and Beckie has been hands down my favorite person I've ever met. She has the hands of an angel and the techniques of a goddess. I got my hair colored by her and literally have zero complaints. She is amazing and I hope she is still working here! If I had the funds I would only go to her but SF does my bank account no favors. The salon itself looks straight out of some hipster chic magazine. Smaller than some of the other salons I've been to but I prefer it that way. Minus one star for the woman who shall not be named who gave me the most painful blowout of my life and even managed to shove her finger into my pierced ear causing it to bleed. I had warned her about watching out for it but she apparently "dozed off" for a second. Uh what? I understand you're in training but sheesh get it together.

A couple weeks ago, I went to Barrow as a hair cut model. Heather gave me a classic bob. Really good haircut, plus she was very kind, friendly. Went out of her way to make sure my cut was to my satisfaction. Not an easy cut, and she did it in good time. I highly recommend her.

I am amazed at how stylish Nicole made my hair look. I flew in from Detroit and yelped the best stylist. She not only explained why my current style was not working for me, she explained how to get the same fantastic style she created at the salon when I get back home. There were zero airs and everyone seemed skilled. If your in San Francisco, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. My daughter went to another salon. They charged more and she was not nearly as happy as I was.

AHEM!! Jamie Chow just gave me my favorite haircut of my life so I want to tell you about it. I love this place, and I'm 36 so I've had a lot of hairs for a lot of years which means lots and lots of haircuts. On average one haircut every three weeks translates to roughly 550 haircuts since my mom used to drag me to Supercuts when I was 9. So, I've got lots and lots of experience, check my math if you don't believe me, and this place is my favorite EVER. Everyone is so sweet and charming and make you feel right at home. Also the wallpaper in the bathroom is incredddible, a nice touch. Jamie Chow usually cuts my hair and totally nails it everytime. A truly rejuvenating experience, I wish my hair would grow faster. Their hospitality makes me feel like a true prince.

Alx has been my stylist for last two years. They carry best products, have a nice open, airy space and are easy to work with. No pretenses here.
