"Barstow Station, aka “Train Car McDonalds,” is a solid option if you have a car full of people too baked to make decisions. Because this gigantic, fake train station is actually a terrifying food court comprised of 15 fast food restaurants you’ll recognize from Food Inc. and you’re too deep into the desert to give a sh*t. You’re here for sustenance. Get in, get out, and don’t talk to the guy selling packs of gum in the parking lot. That’s meth. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

We always love stopping here. I must say, it’s cleaner than in past experiences, even the restroom! Great job to the maintenance crew!

Visited in May 2024. The McDonald's location here is very unique because you can sit and eat your meal in the classic Pullman Train Cars.

Google
Nice mix of fast food places, souvenir shops, and a mini market way in the back. Restrooms. A popular stop for people going to Vegas.

Great Rest area in Barstow. Plenty of good food options and restrooms located inside the building.

I visited here first back in 2011 on a visit to California, to check it out for possible relocation. We did relocate, to Anaheim. We went back to Barstow Station over Memorial Day weekend 2025, and although it wasn't nearly as big as I remembered it I was still kinda enchanted with it. It was bustling but not crowded. It was very warm that day as one would expect from the location. I found a geocache nearby, got a couple of photos, and went about my way. We had a bit of car trouble on the way out of town, had some great service from Auto Zone down the road, and passed through the Station getting back to the highway, so I got TWO shots at this jewel in a matter of 3 days. I loved it, and I think I always will

We stopped here on our way from Vegas. It smells like very historical place. Many options for the food, drinks and also the souvenirs. But it was so crowded, bear in mind that it takes long time to order at the restaurants.

Google
Pre Buc-Ee”s there was Barstow Station ! And it grew and it grew and it grew; adding sea trains and buildings and connection corridors and vendors to become a collection of services in the CA Desert at a busy Cross Roads. You will find most anything you could use on your road trip and then some… even Fuel ⛽️! It’s great to see a business prosper and then adapt in a collection of add on”s that you know owners kept saying “I don’t know how many buildings we can add !”

Google
Really cool place to stop it’s a gift shop and a food court where you can dine in the rail cars at the station. It us historically significant because it is where old steam engines stopped to refill the water tanks. Most of the dining cars are old fashioned rail cars on the outside but brand new on the inside. Just a fun place to stop and get souvenirs and take a break and eat while on the road.

Yelp
Well its a great place to stop in when you are traveling on the Flixbus Bus to Las Vegas.

Wayne G.

Yelp
A total tourist trap. In November I took a bus tour with my mother to Las Vegas. The bus had a rest stop at Barstow Station for about 40mins. With that given time we were able to eat, shop, or use the restroom. This is my first and second time here and the place from the outside has a lot of charm. But the inside is a different story. It felt like an expensive swap meet with random novelty items. The food options were scarce with McDonalds and Subway being the main options. The bathroom situation seems a bit sketch. Not properly maintained. I am a short person and their ceiling is pretty low and uneven. During my drives to Las Vegas taking a pit stop in the area where the outlets are is a better option for a break, but I suppose since we're in a bus, the selection for parking that type of vehicle is poor. Parking: small lot VERDICT: One and done

Yelp
This was a great stop to make, just to experience. I was like a little kid walking around. It's just gave me a great vibe. Plus I needed to use restroom. It's a perfect one stop shop!

Maricar D.

Yelp
They opened at 8am sharp and there was already quite a crowd. This spot is nice to walk in, make some last minute shops, and use the restrooms at before heading back out on the road. This has always been a go-to spot and never really left a bad impression on us. I always enjoy the train aesthetic dining interior due to its unique design. For a rest stop with all of these amenities, it's definitely worth it to stop by here!

Yelp
Barstow Station has been the go-to midway stop when heading to Vegas but this year might be the last time. Arrived around 10:30am on a Tuesday afternoon post Christmas and it was absolutely PACKED. Almost every eatery had a line with McDonald's with the longest line. The tour buses stop by this station as well so it gets very busy. Tried out the quesadilla from Kona Tea & Grill. They ended up losing our ticket which led to a longer wait time. The beef was extremely salty and disappointing. The restrooms were quite dirty this time around, some of the seating was blocked off, and the tables were sticky.

Nanette L.

Yelp
I think this place is very memorable, especially with the whole train theme. I got smashed penny souvenirs. We got McDonald's and I think Popeye's on a different trip. Lots of food choices and gas stations.

Ev D.

Yelp
A decent place to stop for drinks, snacks and bathrooms between our Los Angeles to Las Vegas commute. They have several restaurants like subway, McDonald's panda express and several others. They also have a liquor store and several stores where you can purchase tons of souvenirs like backpacks, hats, ponchos, refrigerator magnets, tote bags and T-shirts. If you're feeling lucky there are also Lotto tickets for sale. They have no AC running. So all throughout the Barstow station is pretty humid indoors. It's not the fanciest/cleanest pitstop location. But given the fact that you're in Barstow, it'll do.

Dianne G.

Yelp
Today's visit was unplanned however it went smoothly and was able to purchase a few snacks and the facility was vibing.

William B.

Yelp
During my family trip to Las Vegas, Antelope Canyon & Grand Canyon we did make a stop twice to the Barstow Station!!!! The Barstow Station is a cool rest stop area that has places for you to grab a bite & go!!! Not only that The Barstow Stations has a lot of cool souvenir stores for you to buy Post Cards and other neat looking souvenirs!!!! If you yelpers or yelpettes are on vacation and looking for a good rest stop area try going to The Barstow Station!!!

Will K.

Yelp
The place is ok. A couple of fast food chains inside and a nice clean bathroom to relieve yourself in. Went and got the thrifty ice cream that turned out old and freezer burned. Had to wait for someone at the counter around the corner to get it for you. Maybe the quality went down since it's the last one in California. But if you want to take a leak and grab some fast food while there, this is the place for you.

Alexis R.

Yelp
Pretty cool rest stop! Lots of fast food places to eat at as well souvenir shops. I havent been to Vegas in a year so it's been awhile since I stopped by Barstow and I found out they have a new boba place! It's called Kona Tea and Grill. I got the mango smoothie and it was pretty good. I can def taste the mango syrup used but overall pretty good! They also served food items on the grill however my family or i wasnt really hungry so we didnt order anything lol but hopefully next time !

Heather H.

Yelp
This has got to be the biggest shit show I've ever seen for the busiest McDonald's I've ever seen. This here feels like a Mcdeath trap. Who closes the 2nd drive thru during a lunch rush? You got cars coming out, cars going in, cars trying to cut in line, cars trying to go in the one way out outbound. This place is a nuthouse. Skip this exit and just wait an exit in both directions. The line ended up 23 minutes.

Jasmine A.

Yelp
Stopped by 11/24/22 (Thanksgiving). Barstow (particularly Barstow Station) is a great place to make a pit stop and use the restroom, purchase goodies, and of course food. This place has Panda Express, Wetzel's Pretzel's, boba, and McDonalds (beware, a lot of people and super crowded). It's like an indoor swapmeet type of atmosphere. Me and my family stopped by when on our way to Las Vegas and back to Cali.

Lori D.

Yelp
This is not what it used to be. Always looked forward in the past to stopping here. Now I just drive right past. Main store is 1/4 the size it used to be and nothing much to look at let alone purchase. Only reason to stop here is to use the restroom.

Laurent L.

Yelp
My family and I had a pleasant experience making a pitstop here. I haven't been here since I was a kid. But now we came back with my own kid. There's many things to see and explore in this tiny little caboose. And there are many food and snack selections. We were able to grab McDonald's, Panda Express, and thriftys ice cream all in one stop. Cons include it being very stuffy; ventilation is poor. Another con being people here can be quite rude. Lots of shoving by some people when it gets crowded. Not sure why they felt the need to shove but I do think it's the clientele. However overall we still enjoyed the pitstop.

Earl W.

Yelp
Nice tourist spot great restaurants and a great stop for gas before Vegas .... Close to freeway

Israel G.

Yelp
Cool place to make a pit stop for food and some souvenirs. The outside is decorated like a train station, hence Barstow station. It's designed like this because of all the trains that pass right next to this place. Inside is pretty unique. They have a handful of clothes and souvenir vendors inside along with a selection of 4-5 food options.

M M.

Yelp
Getting ready to drive from Las Vegas to L.A. for the first time in a Tesla. Checked the internet and couldn't find any electric charging stations at Barstow Station. Could this be possible??? I've always driven a gas car, so I've never taken the time to notice. But now I'm in an electric car it would be nice to charge it while I'm taking a break and eating @ McDonalds. Help me out... is there a charging station near Barstow Station?

Scotty S.

Yelp
We got 3 Musubi Wraps at Kona Tea & Grill In Barstow Station, these Spam Musubi's are the best we ever tasted! Thank You Kona Tea & Grill! Also, your drinks were very delicious!

Alex K.

Yelp
The halfway point from LA to Vegas. Also the pit stop for that bathroom break. Just right of the 15, this place has a bit for everyone. I believe it's also the greyhound station as well. It's a rest station that caters to all the traveler and tourists to and from Vegas or wherever their headed. Your typical gift shop with trinkets of all sorts. Then there's the food, basic Chinese, pretzel, McDonald's , and subway. No fine dining here. Restroom stop and Nice little place to take a break and have a walk through around the shops. Plenty of parking. The shops are overpriced gifts thats probably been there's for a long while. Tons of nick nacks for your viewing. It does get quite crowded during the rush hour or weekend. Between the Vegas crowd headed there and the greyhound traveler.

Shaun R.

Yelp
The past 2 visits here since last summer were always good. Facilities were generally clean enough to use without complaint. No weirdos panhandling while in our break from the road. Liquor store has a pretty good variety of everything for snacks and drinks. The gift shop usually has something tempting in the collectibles section I have to resist splurging on. Staff have been friendly and quick and service.

Alyona Z.

Yelp
1/29/20 I came here thanks to a friends' recommendation. It is definitely an interesting place to check out if you have some down time. Also, If you've never been to a McDonald's inside of a train station, or a train station that is painted in McDonalds colors. It was unique to see and check out all the various shops they have Inside. I tried out the Baja taco restaurant inside and it was delicious. Everyone seemed to be very nice and inside of the train station, it was very clean and organized. Great experience all around.

Yoko I.

Yelp
We stopped by here on the way to Vegas from San Diego. This is like the half way to Vegas so it's convenient. Bathroom was clean and there were plenty of stalls. McDonald's line was crazy but we don't eat them, but for people who like McDonald's it could be frustrating. I got pretzels from Wetzel Pretzel and a coffee from the Boba place. Pretzel price was similar to ones in San Diego but the coffee was a little over priced. But over all this place is good for bathroom break on the way to Vegas (or back from Vegas)

Nadine C.

Yelp
I would see my friends checking in at "Barstow Station" and I wondered what it was... It turned out to be a former train station and currently, it is a great place to stop on the drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. At the back of the building, there seems to be a Greyhound Bus stop. Inside, there are several businesses such as Panda Express, Wetzel's Pretzels, Thrifty Ice Cream, McDonald's, and Subway. There are also vendors selling shoes, jewelry, and touristy souvenir things. It was pointed out to me that the dining area looks like the seating inside of a train. It's cool! You can also sit on the bench next to Ronald McDonald and take a selfie with him! Haha! I'm glad I stopped by and looked around! The restroom and free parking here are much appreciated!

Franklin M.

Yelp
We needed gas before heading back to Los Angeles and what better area to stop by than this popular place. There's a restroom inside and various restaurants and shops. We are still in the COVID-19 pandemic so everyone is wearing masks inside.

D'Arcy W.

Yelp
This is a nice little tourist stop to visit and stretch your legs. Rumour has it this place is the halfway point between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I was staying about 35miles south of Barstow on a company contract job and was told I could find the most famous fortune teller known to man here. Plus I've never visited US Route 66 before. There are a bunch of shops pedalling knick-nacks and Route 66 schwag. I had some ice cream, ate fries in the train cars and walked around. Kinda a cool place to visit and look around.

Angel B.

Yelp
Down by the station early in the morning See all the buses all in a row Watch all the people fill their little bellies Eat eat...pee pee off we go Welcome to the money trap. If you like to look at junk and people watch then this place is for you. A huge bonus if you like to eat. This place has been here for YEARS. I remember being a kid and stopping here, begging for my folks to buy me junk. If you have never stopped here while traveling the 15 then it's worth a visit. Its kind of like a mini indoor swap meet full of individual vendors. They have a candy station, jerky station, junk station and lots of food. Duncan Donuts and McDonalds are the popular places. It's kind of cool at Mc Donalds because you can sit and eat in a train car. This place can get super crowded. From all the buses, tourists, ect. Hey wait? Am I a tourist now too? I assume people come here to pee. The bathrooms are super crowded. P.S. there is another bathroom in the back by McDs.

Eddie S.

Yelp
I love trains! I always had since I was young. So it's no wonder why I always like to stop at Barstow station on my way to and from Las Vegas. It is really really cool how they have this area set up and sometimes I like to go in the train car dining room, have a milkshake and chill out for a little bit. There are plenty of cute shops memorabilia T-shirts candy toys trinkets all those things you will expect to see in a tourist setup. I wasn't at all a fan of the restroom facilities, small dirty, dinky stalls you could see out of (comfort level zero) though on the flip side, McDonalds has this Caramel frappe that is delicious and the candy store has amazing truffle chocolates. I recommend this location for those of you who like to explore and discover new things also for those of you who like trains this is a really fun spot to check out on your way to or from Las Vegas!

L O.

Yelp
We always make a pit stop here when ever we head to California from Vegas. It's right off the highway. Cool little place where you can use the restrooms, eat & shop. Parking lot is small & sometimes has traffic.

Marcus F.

Yelp
I would strongly recommend getting your food down in Lenwood, but if you're in need of an emergency bathroom stop, the Barstow Station is where it's at. At first you think this is just a large train station themed McDonalds, but it's actually an indoor food court and gift shop mall.. Where else can you get Panda Express with a side of Dunkin' Donuts? - There's also a greyhound station here, and the drifters that go with that mode of transportation. - Tip, if you hang around long enough you'll see some the very long freight trains ( 100+ train cars) right next to the parking lot.

Alizen R.

Yelp
Not only a greyhound bus stop, but a hub for several dining options as well. The Barstow Station is home to Mcdonald's, Subway, Panda Express, Dunkin' Donuts, and a few other shops inside. If you're looking to get some souvenirs from Barstow area, you'd do best to stop inside the station so that you can get some pretty neat items. There is a bathroom in this station located right next to the indoor McDonald's restaurant and it is free for men and women to use. There isn't really much to say except that Barstow in general attracts a very odd crowd so you should expect to see some very interesting folks coming and going through here. (80/100 - 2018)

Kriss P.

Yelp
What a road trip staple! Barstow station isn't the only place to stretch your legs, grab a bite & pick up a few items in the area. It's super touristy but everything you need can pretty much be found here. The parking situation is also very accomodating. There's space for buses, larger vehicles, and plenty of garbage cans. You have a few different options when it comes to fueling your appetite. Mickey D's, Chinese, donuts, subs, and such. Seating is ample which is aided by a few converted passenger cars of a train which is pretty neat. You'll also be able to pick up trinkets and items you may not have packed for your trip. Always a solid rest stop on the way to and from Vegas!

Graciela C.

Yelp
Always a good stop in Barstow. I used to come for Dunkin' Donuts but they are now CLOSED! There is nothing in its place yet, we will see. Parking is easy but the drive thru at McDonalds is slow and narrow. Bathrooms are decent, they do keep them clean constantly but it is a bit dated. -DD -McDonald's (and full use of the App and offers too) -Wetzels pretzels -Panda Express -Jed's Jerky and others

Carrie U.

Yelp
I think the best way I can sum this up is what my dad said "Why are we stopping here? Isn't this for the tour buses?" This is obviously targeting those tour buses because they even have a special private room for drivers to rest. This is actually great for those types of groups because there are many different fast food options. There are even little shops with touristy knick-knacks. If you're in a car with a bunch of annoying people who all want something different, you should probably stop here for a bit. Huge pro: there's a Popeyes in the same parking lot. There's also a Starbucks across the street. As far as the bathrooms go, they're still gross as hell and even worse when they're busy. The upstairs one has zero ventilation. If your only reasoning for stopping here above any other stop is "at least the bathrooms are clean" I would reconsider.

Mitch W.

Yelp
From Los Angeles to Las Vegas, we've made it a tradition to stop at Barstow Station. And usually on the way back too! It has lots of food options and souvenir shops. However, we mainly stop here for a potty break and if we're hungry a snack/lunch at McDonald's or Panda Express. If the tour buses have stopped, then expect lines at the bathrooms and restaurants. It's fairly clean given the amount of traffic that goes through her daily. Overall, a better rest stop than the ones along the highway. Xie Xie!

Brian R.

Yelp
This place is unique compared to your typical truck stops across America. McDonald's with train car seating, Wetzel's Pretzels, Panda Express, and other eateries. Several touristy shops with CA/AZ/NV trinkets, postcards, etc. Tour buses pulling up regularly with people flooding in to use the clean restrooms before getting something to eat. There were some huge lines for the record-breaking lotto drawing the last time we stopped in and there were two women handling the ticket sales in a very efficient manner. Fun place to stop, eat, and people watch.

Jaloni W.

Yelp
Great Food very friendly workers and everyone that was there was very welcoming to me and my family when we stopped through

Jill S.

Yelp
Lots of tacky crap for sale at little shop. Not exactly souvenirs, just crap. Dunkin' Donuts, subway, mc Donald's Panda Express and Subway. Got there just as a HUGE tour bus dropped off about 100 teenagers on a field trip, bad timing for us lol. I agree the restrooms are clean. I hated walking up the creaky, very old stairs with mobs of teenage girls on my heels ( running into me) though.

Ben A.

Yelp
Really, you're not making your decision to stop here based on Yelp reviews... get serious, Chester! You have to hit the restroom, or you just can't help but stop at every McDonalds in America maybe. Lots of folks stop here to hit the restroom, and it shows. In the men's room, at least. McDonalds. Food court. Ice cream. Trinkets and gifts, Betty Boop stuff (who's buying this?), blown glass things and Elvis stuff... ech. Well, hey... the wife is a big Buddy Holly fan (reason still escapes me) but this was the ONLY place she has ever seen a Buddy Holly bobble head. And she bought it, because it was a rare find. And we've been to Lubbock, TX and visited his childhood house and grave and been to the Buddy Holly museum. But no... Barstow Station has the bobble head. I dunno. All the Vegas tour buses stop here too. They always got there, like, 90 seconds before you did... that's why the line is so long. Seriously, there's a Del Taco right up the street. Oh yeah, and thankfully the posted "NO PANHANDLING" signs in the parking lot, like, totally solved that problem. If you believe that, be sure to get off at Xyzzyx Rd. and see the ostrich farm.... they give out free hedgehogs.

Donna H.

Yelp
This is a mid drive stop for us from Vegas to LA. We've been stopping here for years. Sadly, every year it gets more and more run down. Hand dryers in restroom are old and some are broken. And there are homeless people in the lobby. Plus, the crowding and yelling at the shop was overwhelming, even the Panda Express worker thought so. Still, a great place for a quick stop for food. McDonald's, Dunkin' Donuts, Panda Express, subway, all in one spot. Just take it to go. Lol

Dianalynn R.

Yelp
First of all I love eating in the train cars when I come to visit. I have been on a train, and it's fun to relive those fond memories while sitting there having lunch, or in my case, brunch. Second, this stop has a lot of guilty pleasures. A candy shop, souviners, and a lot of purses, jewelry, and wearables. Third, they have a lot of restrooms, this is important because they get a lot of buses full of guests visiting. And there were plenty of accommodations. Important when you have a little one with you. This is a fun stop. It's a great place to stretch and take pictures. And I try to stop any time I'm this way.

Jennie M.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick bite and break on our way to Vegas. Lots of fast food options and lots of souvenirs. Clean bathrooms.

Zoe F.

Yelp
I remember coming here as a kid as a stop on the way to Vegas. My boyfriend had never been so we decided to make a stop so he could see what it's all about. They have everything you could imagine. Food, treats, chocolates, hot sauce, jerky's, gifts, clothes, etc. You name it, they got it! Plus, it's all in train cars! It's a fun little experience for everyone to enjoy. You have plenty for the adults to do for a while and have enough for the kids as well. It's a great place to stop off when you need to stretch, eat, use the restroom and get your mind off the long drive. If you haven't stopped, I would recommend it. It may not be the most exciting thing you will ever do or see, but you definitely won't forget it!

Betty H.

Yelp
This is actually a good rest stop because it's clean, has some food choices, and little shops. It's not new though. But, most importantly, there are lots of restrooms that are well maintained and you don't have to wait in line for. Most rest stops are disgusting with nasty restrooms, but this is actually a rest stop I will stop at. I usually get something at the Dunkin Donuts and check out the little shops. Then, you are almost at Vegas once you arrive here. Not bad at all; it could be so much worse.

Ran C.

Yelp
I don't even know how many times I've stopped here at the Barstow Station on the way to or from Las Vegas. I couldn't even venture a guess. I just know that I think that it's a cool place. The parking can suck and the lines can get ridiculously long if there's a few buses in the station - especially for the restrooms. But - the place is still pretty cool. All types of useless things to buy. All kinds of unhealthy food to eat.

Russ C.

Yelp
Cool pit stop between LA and Vegas. Good place to stretch your legs, use the many restrooms or grab a bite to eat or some snacks. Mickey Dees, Panda Express, Dunkin Donuts, Subway, Candy store, ice cream store and Barstow Station itself has tons of trinkets and gifts. Mc Donald's is cool because of the train cars as the dining room. Sometimes this place gets pack in here because of the sightseeing buses that park in the rear of property.

Gordona B.

Yelp
Great place to stop at for snacks, rest, souvenirs or a quick meal. I've visited a couple times and the vibe is pleasant.

Pete F.

Yelp
Barstow station has been a stop on our Vegas trips for my whole life. From a nostalgic point of view, this McDonald's will always have a place in my heart. At one point, this McDonald had the highest patronage among all restaurants in the country. But this place is in dire need of a facelift at best and complete reconstruction at worst. Every inch of this place has been leased out to a vendor. You can buy pretty much everything or eat everything that most of us Yelpers wouldn't even sniff at back home. And the place is dilapidated - just take a look at the restroom. Funny at one point in my life McDonald's was where you stop at on road trips for clean bathrooms. And the place is a circus teaming with mass of humanity transported there by endless junket busses, like herds of lamb having their last meal before being slaughtered (financially speaking). But once you fight your way to a parking space, past all the temptations (who can't use a I Love Vegas t-shirt?) and zig zag through the lambs who all seem to be moving a couple of speed slower than you, you make it to Micky D counter where you can count on reliable and consistent quality food. Well . . . maybe that's gone the way of clean bathrooms as well. My beloved McNuggets was limp and cool instead of plump and warm. One look at the fries and you can tell they were stricken the same way. Ugh.

Randy M.

Yelp
We stopped at Barstow Station as we normally do on our bus trip to Vegas. We only have 30 minutes for the stop. I ordered a Quarter Pounder combination. The order was up on the message board, as pending, then it disappeared. I went to the counter to ask about my order. 25 minutes later, the order was found and delivered. I was late to the waiting bus. This simple order should not take this long to make. Very disappointed ! Never again!!
