"As a dairy and cattle farm, Barstow turns out a rightly famous beef chili, made with the farm’s own beef. Nestled just below Mount Holyoke and Skinner State Park, this is an ideal spot for an outdoor lunch, especially for picnickers planning an afternoon hike or students traveling to or from classes at Mount Holyoke." - Nat Belkov

This is a really nice spot. Great selection at the bakery. Muffins and ice coffee were my favorite. Outdoor seating on the porch to enjoy the view. Lots of homemade food to choose from. Drive through window for people on the go. Service was very friendly. Clean restrooms.

We came here 4 years ago when dropping off our daughter at college, and decided to revisit it upon attending her graduation 4 years later. All the beef and milk are directly sourced from their own cows, so you can count on the freshness and great taste of their meat and dairy products, esp. the ice-cream :-). One orders at the counter, gets a number, and waits at one's table for one's number to be called, and then goes to fetch food at the pick-up counter. I ordered their vegetarian soup of the day (ginger carrot) to warm up my body after sitting in the cold outdoor air for several hours during the commencement. The soup was very hearty, delicious, and sufficiently spicy from the generous amount of fresh ginger. The others in my party ordered sandwiches and were all duly impressed. This eatery is surrounded by farmland at the foot of some hills, adding serenity and good view to one's culinary pleasure.

Google
Awesome place for a quick bite with breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches along with fantastic baked goods. Large porch with tables and wonderful views and also tables inside. They have a country style store with fresh packaged meats and fresh vegetables from the farm. And the coffee was excellent, I had the house blend with a slice of pie and it was amazing. Worth the trip 🤗

We had a nice sandwich and an excellent dessert while watching cows! Who could ask for a better country experience. I did not like the ordering process because hard to think of everything you want in one pass, especially with so many fun dessert options.

Google
Wonderful farm on the roadside, fabulous place to get probably the best grilled cheese ever, along with countless other fantastic offerings. Bucolic as all get out and super charming. Friendly service and the food is delicious.

Google
Awesome farm store with great breakfast sandwiches, meat, and dairy products. I have hearing issues and the cashier up front was very patient and explained the menu to me. Definitely coming back and recommending to friends and family!

Google
Delicious food and ice cream, there is also a drive thru if you need a quick coffee or breakfast sandwich. The scenery is beautiful too, mountains in the background and cows on the field. Barstow’s also does some farm tours in the spring and fall I believe, they tow an open trailer and show you around the farm. Give it a try, I really enjoy the lemon or mango sorbet!

Yelp
Delicious food, quaint atmosphere, stellar views, nice, helpful staff. What more could we ask for? Local goods? Why yes, there here too. A must visit!

Yelp
The food is really good but the view is spectacular. Nice people too. Nothing fancy no table service but who cares

Yelp
The perfect fall activity. First, this place is adorable. Second, not only is the staff super lovely and greets you when you walk in, but so do the customers. This place definitely has a warm, family vibe. All the treats, pastries, sandwiches, cheeses, and assorted goodies looked divine. However, we limited ourselves to the cider donuts and a couple of small cheeses. For real, the BEST, absolute best cider donuts I've ever had. The spice, the sweetness, the texture, the inclusion of actual Apple chunks, holy moly. So yummy. Will definitely keep this spot in mind for future fall excursions to the area.

Yelp
The reason I rated Barstows as a 1 is that I ordered a baked apple pie for Thanksgiving 2022. When I cut into the pie to serve my guests for dessert, I felt that the apples seemed a little hard. Well, they were very hard, and there was no 'juice' in the pie. To say the least, I was embarrassed and disappointed. Later in the day, I cooked the pie for another hour. The apples were cooked, however, the crust was overcooked. I threw the pie away. Apple pies are $17.00. My friend also ordered an apple pie and picked up my pie and hers. She brought hers to a gathering and found the apples were undercooked, however, somewhat edible. I emailed Barstow's the week after Thanksgiving and haven't received any comment from them as of 12/26. I am wondering if an entire batch of pies were undercooked. Made my own apple pie for Christmas and everyone enjoyed it.

Yelp
My husband and I visited Barstows for lunch and we were both very pleased! We both ordered sandwiches - he got the Il Presidente and I got the Barnyard Royale. Both were SO good! I also got a slice of the apple crumble cheesecake -- cheesecake is my all time favorite dessert, and I think this was the best cheesecake I've ever had! We also really enjoyed the picnic seating out front - it was a beautiful day and so nice to sit outside - and to be serenaded by the mooing cows :) We will definitely be back!

Yelp
What a great dairy farm!!! Cute family ice cream shop! Great concept for an organic farm to table experience. Ice cream was tasty! The cage free eggs were pricy! The pierogis were a bonus find! A nice place to join friends fora burger and ice cream treat!

Yelp
Stopped here to pick up something for lunch during a work day on the road. Ordered the only vegetarian item on the sandwich menu. Over $8 and when I opened the wrapping I think I laughed out loud. Thin layer of hummus and a few veggies. It's a shame because the cashier was friendly and it's a sweet place. Maybe the other sandwiches were better but this was comical. Especially for the price.

Yelp
A wonderful, family-owned farm store and cafe with friendly customer service. Their excellent sandwiches and homemade bakery items never disappoint. The key lime and lemon bars are addictive and I can't help but stop in whenever I'm in the area for a couple. Their produce is all locally grown and delicious every time I've bought some. Make sure to try their pierogis!

Yelp
Adorable little farm coffee shop and bakery. I only stopped by for breakfast but they also sell a wide range of fresh meat, eggs and a variety of sandwiches. The coffee was very strong and fresh and the service was extremely kind and friendly. I hear the ice cream is excellent so I hope to stop by in the summer.

Yelp
This is a great stop if you're taking the long way to Amherst or just in the mood for some small time farm food. We tend to stop on days that we're just riding the Harley on the back roads and we're never disappointed in either service or food. Very friendly staff who always have great tips and insight to the food. I've enjoyed my iced coffee every time, cinnamon mocha this past week! Sandwiches are well made and they've kindly split them in half on separate plates on the rare occasion the hubs and I split a sandwich. I thoroughly enjoy reading the updated cow stats each time we're in! Great views out the front windows and a large front porch to take them in when it's nice out. Be sure to keep an eye on their events boards. Burger nights sound awesome! And they're BYOB :)

Yelp
Had lunch here with family after going to the nearby flea market and we were really let down. The food was bland and generic. I had the taco salad and the meat (local! Fresh!) was hardly seasoned at all and the lettuce (local! Fresh!) tasted bad and was really chewy. Also, members of our party were offended by the Sha-nay-nay sandwich (Franks Red Hot sauce and chicken) - a few us wanted to try it but when they saw the name they didn't want to actually order it. If you can't come up with witty names for your sandwiches, then lean in on your basic ness and just call it a spicy chicken sandwich. No need to make it racial. 2 stars because the coffee was amazing.

Yelp
I love stopping by this place for the baked goods! The variety is incredible, everything is freshly made, and they love to incorporate what's in season. I can grab as much as I want because it'll never break the bank. The staff are friendly and very helpful, and it's got a neat, quaint, countryside ambiance. My friends like to come pet the farm animals, but that's not really my thing. I do like the feeling of being on a farm though. I'm waiting for the summer so I can try their ice cream!

Yelp
Amazing! Super friendly staff. The freshest strawberries I've ever had. Excellent baked goods and out of this world customer service!

Meaghan S.

Yelp
Fantastic place for lunch. 4 of us went for lunch and sat outside. Lovely views! And we got to feed the cows afterwards. I will be back for sure. Can't wait to see the place in the fall!

Ally M.

Yelp
Literally the best place in our area for lunch! All the food is so fresh because it's all locally sourced from their own farm. There's a beautiful view to look at while you're eating. The staff is also very friendly! You have to try this place out!

Bob H.

Yelp
In the area and got the best Maple Walnut ice cream I've had in years! Lots of maple and walnut flavor. Too often I get what seems to be vanilla with tasteless mystery lumps.

Yelp
Loved this place till I came a couple min before 5pm on Saturday, the posted time, and the door was locked. And it says 7pm on Yelp. Like update your hours much and don't lock the door before the posted time!!

Yelp
From someone who lives in the area and has been to many local farm and dairy stores, I don't give this 5 star review lightly. Barstow's never fails to make me smile. The baked goods are to DIE for (definitely try to carrot cake cupcakes), and the sandwiches and paninis are all creative, original, fresh, and filling. Also it's easy to pass over, but don't miss the dairy cases filled with farm fresh milk, Cabot cheeses, homemade pirogies, meatballs and chicken pot pies. To die for! Most of all- everything, from the food to the local crafts, is at INCREDIBLY fair prices for the high quality, local product that you're getting. Absolutely worth a stop. Bring the kids in the summer to feed to cows out front! Thanks for all you do Barstow's :)

Yelp
Fantastic menu, yummy ice-cream, beautiful views

Yelp
A beautiful place that serves tasty food. Tomato cheddar soup, non nynamo bars, cow plop cookies, and crasin white chocolate cookies are some of my fav eats. Free wi fi for customers, and a great porch to hang out on. The perfect place to grab a snack before or after a hike up skinner state park.
