"The kimchi fried rice is a given, but the real surprise was the shrimp and broccoli stir fry. The shrimp was fresh and springy, and the broccoli was firm and fantastically charred. Those two elements, mixed with perfectly cooked glass noodles." - Eater Staff

6/18/2025: 2025 update. Bart Grocery & BBQ is not the best Korean food I have had. But that's not the point. They are pretty good. The restaurant smells like sweet Korean BBQ when you walk in because they grill the meat right there. I still miss the old husband & wife team that retired in 2020. It felt more homey when they were around. Today I had the tofu soup $14 and marinated chicken $14 for lunch. I can't believe I've never had their tofu soup before. It was surprisingly good. There are bits of meat with big pieces of tofu, and a surprise pot sticker in there. The marinated chicken tasted the same. Now they give a little cup of kimchi. It took about 25 minutes for my food to be ready at 12pm via phone order. Original review: The husband and wife team and/or their kids weren't working tonight. I miss the warm welcome she used to give her customers. The food remains the same, very good. The menu hasn't been updated for like 10 years. The new chefs are pretty good. My food was ready in 15 minutes.

This is a really great small business that has been around for a long time. Great food and convenient pick up. They were also very gracious to us when we got the order wrong for a party when it was totally our fault.

Google
Bart Grocery doesn’t miss! Go To order Bulgogi Beef and Japchae hold the rice extra Kimchi plz. The flood is fresh and they give you a hefty plate. It is also a small store go check it out!

Google
Ordered marinated chicken, beef short ribs, kimchi fried rice and bibimbap. The chicken was flavorful and had the char taste to it. It came with japche, salad and rice. The beef short ribs was the best that I have ever had. Juicy and flavorful and the char made it delicious. Kimchi fried rice is tasty and not overpowering by kimchi. Bibimbap had veggies, ribeye, chili pepper sauce and rice. This was more of a bland dish to me and the chili pepper sauce wasn't to my liking. Overall the food was very good and I would eat here again. It took about 20 minutes from ordering to getting your food. We ordered right at 11am when they open the doors.

Google
This grocery store/quick service Korean food is likely the best deal for Korean food on the peninsula. I tend to get the spicy marinated chicken for $10. Chicken has just the right amount of spice for me. It comes over rice, served with a side salad and japchae. It is a good amount of food and you will not leave hungry.

Google
Hella good. If you don’t want to drive to San Jose for Gen and want a good Korean bbq fixing this is the spot

Google
Love this place for Korean BBQ to go. Service is always friendly. Call for pickup is the easiest way. Highly recommend the bulgogi, kimichi fried rice, short ribs, and marinated chicken.

Google
Well, how do you do! What a fantastic foodie find. Small shop that packs enormous flavor. Their kimchi fried is great with onions, kimchi & tiny squares of tofu that is seasoned to perfection. Jap chae with slivers of carrots, green onions and yellow onions. That galbi was a show stopper, grilled before my very eyes, lightly sauced tender to the touch it separated from the bone every so easily. The small portion of kimchi that's included is not enough. You can thankfully purchase a mason jar of kimchi. The portion sizes are fat kid pleasing. Go in pairs parking is terrible. They take cards

Yelp
My BF and I love this place for takeout Korean BBQ. It's a few blocks from the Daly City Bart station, hence the name. The food comes out pretty fast typically around 10 minutes or less, so it's easy to pick dinner up on the way home. We order two plates and that's often enough for more than 1 meal. Typically we will get spicy chicken or spicy pork, but the grilled chicken and bulgogi are good too. The short ribs are off the chart delicious, so that's what I have been getting lately. The meals come with rice and japchae (which I could eat everyday). I love these tasty glass noodles and the kimchee what comes on the side. Bart Grocery is my favorite to go places in Daly City.

Steve D.

Yelp
I had lunch at a place called Bart Grocery, and I must say, it's one of those hidden gems that you wouldn't think to stop at unless someone told you about it or you found it on Google. I had no idea they even served food! When I tried it out, I found the service to be great. I placed my order over the phone, and by the time I arrived, my BBQ plate and tofu soup were ready to go. The ambiance is more fast-paced, but I assume that's due to the high volume of orders they receive. Overall, I will definitely eat here again and recommend this place to others!

Yelp
Easy parking down the block with lots of spots. BART Grocery & BBQ has been on my radar for years. Ordered Bulgogi at the Cashier, and the order was ready in a few minutes, but in the future I would call in an order to minimize a wait since there is no seating. The entree was one of the best attempts I have experienced of this dish in the area so I was very happy. Nothing exciting about the interior but this is about good takeout eats, and on that they deliver.

Chris C.

Yelp
A bare bones neighborhood market that has a dedicated portion (i.e. kitchen) for grilled Korean staples like bulgogi, kalbi and even kimchi fried rice that they top with an over easy egg. it can get smokey from all the cooking and the wait can be up to 15-20 mins at a time but for budget Korean, its worth it. even though its located in a quieter part of the DC (a few blocks up from the Bart Station...hence the name), street parking can be a challenge, esp during the dinner rush. I've been stopping in for the kimchi fried rice for a while now and it always hits the spot.

Alexis P.

Yelp
Updating to emphasize: CALL AHEAD! Didn't take my own advice since it was a random weekday at 11:30am. They had a large group order of 40+, thus limited menu for the next 30-45 min. No kalbi, no chicken available.

Douglas F.

Yelp
Bart Grocery & BBQ is a regular dinner of choice for me that's quick, easy, and delicious for the price and quality. I grew up next to a mall where the quick serve chicken teriyaki over rice/noodles was on regular rotation and it's something I can't find anymore anywhere I look, and now that I've found Bart Grocery & BBQ, I find myself rejoicing in the simplicity of a meal that I can pick up whenever. I always get the teriyaki chicken combo plate ($14) with extra meat ($5) and extra sauce ($0.50). The meat is piled up nicely over a bed of noodles and rice and comes with a side of kimchi. This thing fills me up for less than $20 at such a steal, given everything costs like $20+ at a minimum in the SF and surrounding areas. I tried the kimchi fried rice on a massive craving last night for the first but it lacked a salty flavor and had better at Bay Pocha in SF near SFSU. Service is no frills so don't expect much there but the little couple who owns it does focus on trying to get you your food quick in a spot that's literally inside a small bodega style grocery store across the street from the Daly City BART station. 5 stars for the combo plate with my expectations set on a quick, inexpensive takeout meal and nothing more or less.

James H.

Yelp
Take out only, no tables inside. Service at the counter is ok, could be friendlier. Place your order at cashier and wait outside for your name to be called. The prices are reasonable and. The cheapest you'll find in the area. Flavor wise could be better. The chicken was a bit dry and pork was not spicy at all. They fill you up on the japchae noodles and don't give much protein. They hardly give any rice underneath. Street parking

Alex F.

Yelp
Hidden secret in Daly City. Best Korean food in the neighborhood. Everything on the menu is delicious. You do need to be able to handle some spicy foods in order to enjoy this place. I always order more than I can eat, so I can enjoy left overs the following say. Kim chi fried rice is so good. Everything is grilled and made to order. Best to call and order in advance, Otherwise you're waiting 15 to 20 minutes. Excellent service. Enjoy this gem!

Alex J.

Yelp
Bart grocery is very unassuming and one would never know this place serves BOMB Korean food. Located in a convenience store, the whole left side of the shop is dedicated to making Korean food. The prices are pretty reasonable for the amount of food you get. We typically order the spicy pork or the beef bulgolgi BBQ plate. The spicy pork has a nice balance of savory and spice. Each plate comes with rice, kimchi (optional), and japchae. I typically order ahead via phone and by the time I am there, I can just pay and head home. Definitely a great hidden spot.

Mindy H.

Yelp
My friend picked up takeout from this place and the food was good. We ordered the plates to share family style but realized it's better for individuals given each plate comes with meat, rice and japchae. We got bbq chicken, bbq beef, short ribs and spicy pork plates, kimchi fried rice and vegetarian fried rice. Kimchi fried rice was okay, but the japchae was pretty good!

Elaine Y.

Yelp
I finally get around to going to Bart's for myself and I completely forgot to take photos. D'oh! Must have been so drawn in by the smells! I ordered two plates (one bulgolgi and one grilled chicken) and a side of potstickers for my family's lunch. Total came to about $45 with tip. Order took about 15 minutes to make and during that time, both DoorDash orders and phone orders did not stop flooding in! It was impressive they were able to keep pace! Upon arriving home and presenting the goods to my family, everyone remarked how tantalizing the plates smelled! They also really loved how packed the dishes were with the meats, japchae, and rice. They also liked the little container of kimchi on the side! Dad found the japchae to be a little too salty for him but otherwise everyone really enjoyed the lunch. Admittedly my family doesn't eat a lot so it wasn't a surprise that we had leftovers, but it wasn't a lot left. It will be enough for a small meal but the eater will probably have to add something else to it. So all in all, $45 to feed 4? That's a steal in Bay today! I'm glad I was able to introduce my parents to the joint, it's always been consistently good when I've had it with friends.

Rosie W.

Yelp
This review is strictly for the food since the food was bought to-go for me. I ordered the bibimbap and it did not disappoint, even after 45 min of being in the to-go box. The egg was still fried to perfection, a bit runny on top, just the way it should be. The vegetables - spinach, carrots, beansprouts, mushrooms were all fresh and crispy. The meat was flavorful but not overpowering. When cooked correctly, this dish, with all its many ingredients is supposed to all come together perfectly and Bart Grocery knew the job.

SF Cloweee G.

Yelp
Ugh, what happened usually they give huge serving and chunky cuts of chicken but this time I can barely see any chicken. So disappointed and felt like all I ate was onions and the marinated sauce over rice and japache.

Vanessa O.

Yelp
I used to frequent this Bart station but never stopped in... my mistake! This place has solid Korean comfort food options in big portions at reasonable prices. Love their japchae (small but packed container for $9, but also included with some entrees like the spicy pork). Spicy pork ($16) is served atop a bed of rice, and includes japchae. Spicy pork isn't overly spicy, and also not too fatty, which I appreciate! Though it's pretty oily and all the spicy oil soaks into the rice. I still ate it, though! Kimchi fried rice is also good, and again those containers are packed to the brim! 1 container can easily feed 2 people. Great find--it will be a go to delivery spot!

Donna L.

Yelp
We came here to pick up a spicy chicken lunch. It was pretty much a deal at $15.00+ for take out. I'm sad they don't give you a salad but a small container of kimchee. The chicken was a Little spicy and I'm glad there was some white rice underneath. There was a lot of sautéd unions. The Japchae was excellent but could have added More Carrots, bell peppers and onion. All in all $15 for lunch was pretty good as it fed the two of us. Kimchi was on point.

Emerson Y.

Yelp
Take out only, call ahead to avoid waiting in your car. No dedicated parking lot but lots of street parking. Massive sizes, a BBQ plate fed me for 3 meals and was ~$22 for galbi. The galbi is delicious as is the Japchae, I'll definitely be back. Inside area also sells various grocery items but fresh items are very limited.

Luna c.

Yelp
Yummy food and large portions at very afforable price. I also like their snack and noodle selection. Theres not much around the area making this place the perfect pit stop for a pick me up! I usually just pick up and go so don't mind if service not the super friendly. I do recommend ordering ahead so you don't have to wait.

Wayman W.

Yelp
Chicken and Beef were dry. Chicken was served in very thin strips (1/4 inch thick). Japchae had hardly any julienne carrots. I found 2 micro-mini florets of broccoli. Sauce was lacking in soy and sesame oil. It could use a lot more vegetables. I.e. bell peppers, shittaki mushrooms, a 1/4 cup of carrots, spinach, etc.

Emily C.

Yelp
Located in a somewhat residential area with street parking. We ordered Beef Bulgogi and Spicy Tofu Soup - both were reasonably priced and big portions that kept two hungry people full. Beef bulgogi came with rice, japchae, onions, carrots, and a side of kimchi. The spicy tofu soup was well packed and included mandu at a tolerable spice level. The food was ready quickly and while we waited there were cute cats outside :) We also bought some snacks too, but be prepared to pay a bit more than a typical grocery store/Asian supermarket. Since it's a small business I'm happy to support!

Matti L.

Yelp
This place is not consistent since the new people have taken over. The kimchi fried rice is one thing that is not consistent. Sometimes it is excellent and the other times it lacks flavor. Also, the older lady who works there could also smile a bit more and be more friendly. She is just unpleasant to talk to when ordering and checking out. You wanna Tip, well you're gonna have to put some effort in

Alex R.

Yelp
Good place, no frills or dazzle, come order your food pay and be on your way. I think the plates are reasonably priced. Got catering from here and felt it came out to be a lot but I think Korean food in general is one of the more pricier cuisines. Still a good value here compared to other places I've tried in the city

Eddie W.

Yelp
My preferred establishment for quick Korean barbecue. The kalbi rice plate is both flavorful and satisfying. .

Shauna f.

Yelp
Nice little mom and pop kinda place. Good size portions for the price. Love to support these businesses. Cooks your lunch right in front of you. Not too spicy but good.

Binh P.

Yelp
I don't think I'll ever crave galbi anywhere else but here. For about $20 you get a good portion with the thickest, tenderest, and tastiest galbi you'll ever get. It also comes with a heaping portion of japchae, rice, and kimchi. Japchae could use more sesame oil or soy sauce though. I also got kimchi fried rice and bibimbap with added bulgogi. While the portions are large, I wouldn't say those dishes were too tasty. And I found that adding extra meat to the kimchi fried rice was not worth it. I think I counted about 4 small pieces of bulgogi mixed in. Stick to the galbi when you go here.

Ada H.

Yelp
Convenience location but Overrating on the BBQ item. May come back for a quick fix but not for satisfaction.

Jenny N.

Yelp
This is an unassuming small place in a neighborhood area that is pumping out LEGIT delicious korean food! I've been going here for the past couple years and they have been consistently delicious! Its a mini convenience store that has a mean kitchen for togo/pick up orders and also available on Doordash. Due to it being in a small neighborhood area, parking was always scarce but now it's even more atrocious with many drivers waiting for food deliveries. I still always test my luck though since I usually do large orders and I just can't justify all them doordash fees/markups! This mom and pop shop has pretty solid portions, reasonable pricing, and great quality food! My usual is the galbi which comes with big cuts of well marinated short rib that is oh soooo tender! It also comes with some scrumptious japchae on top of white rice. It's a total banger. I've also tried the beef bulgolgi, spicy pork, and kim chi fried rice that are also super solid. The only thing I was meh about was their tofu soup which I thought lacked flavor but it could've been an off day. During my last encounter, I parked a block away and walked in carrying my 1 year old daughter and the owner was telling her husband to carry my order to my car. How sweet and thoughtful!!! I will keep coming back!!

Jessica G.

Yelp
Great local spot that is always consistently making delish food! Would recommend to call your order in ahead of time, typically takes 15-20mins for your food to be ready. Another perk is that because the restaurant is inside of a store, you can pick up drinks or additional snacks at the same time. One of my fav spots, and portions are really good!

Ivory B.

Yelp
Wow wOW WOW This place is totally insanely yummy! I have been coming here for years. I could not believe that that I haven't posted a review on Yelp. If you are craving for Korean BBQ, you must stop here to eat. I usually ordered to go as parking can be tricky. Everything is super tasty, super delicious, and with great portions and value. My dad loves to eat the bbq short ribs. I enjoy eating everything here, especially the spicy pork. No one can make this delicious bbq as at Bart's. Everyone is nice, helpful, and friendly. The cashier is efficient and fast at checkout. The place smells incredibly good. I would eat here daily if Bart restaurant is close by my house and if I don't have to worry about extra calories and watching my diet. I think there are a few tables you can dine inside but for me, take out is simply and easy. Highly recommended. Try it and you won't stop eating here! Bon Appetite!

Victoria C.

Yelp
I order the bbq plate kalbi short rib. The japchae is good and not dry. Sometimes the Kalbi is a bit bland and not flavorful but still good! A good quick spot to grab a bite when you're craving kalbi! Parking is a bit hard but they have a street parking in front.

Elaine K.

Yelp
Food portions are great and very tasty. Live there ribs and jap chae. Will consider catering from them.

Steve K.

Yelp
Been a fan of this place for years... great when I'm itching for Korean BBQ, favorite order is the spicy pork, just the right heat level. This is a convenience store and "to go" place, parking can be challenging, there's a green zone right in front if you get lucky. Best to call ahead...

D T.

Yelp
This place is delicious. Kimchee fried rice, kalbi, chicken. Go here. I always call in my order ahead of time, they are fast and efficient and you can see them grill your food right in front of you!

Natalie H.

Yelp
The food is no longer good after change the owner. I order kimchi fried rice and spicy pork. The fried rice is sweet . It is weird. The spicy pork doesn't have any flavor. Too bad.

De-b A.

Yelp
I always order this combo of Kalbi with Kimchi fried rice and Japchae. The short ribs are flavorful and tender, not too sweet. Japchae is delicious, just the right amount of seasoning and the kimchi fried rice is yummy and addicting. The portion is huge, it can feed 2 people. I always have a leftover for the next day. Affordable and very worth it.

Derek T.

Yelp
I love this gem near the Bart station. The food is always so good and their portions are very generous too. Kalbi is tender and flavorful. We also get their spicy chicken, pork and their shrimp and broccoli stir-fry is a great option if you need some veggies on the side. All of it is very flavorful. One order can almost feed two people because of the amount of rice and japchae they include (just need extra meat and it'll turn into two meals!). Parking in the area is plentiful if you go before 7 p.m. Owners are super nice. I had 9 orders and my 3 year old was with me so one of the owners helped me carry the takeout bags to my car which was a block away. This place is definitely my go-to place for quick Korean BBQ food.

ro s.

Yelp
Today we were unfortunate enough to visit the BART GROCERY & BBQ. My husband ordered short ribs, rice, and pot stickers. He appeared to enjoy his meal, but he's the type of man who doesn't care whether the food is tasty or not. Personally, I prefer to spend my money on good food and I am a loyal customer. However, today I decided to try the Japchae noodles. They looked appetizing, but they were so bland that it felt like I was eating plain noodles with no flavor at all. I was extremely disappointed, so I inquired with the lady owner who cooked it, and she confirmed that she did. Her bitter attitude was evident, as if she didn't even enjoy serving potential customers. When I called to express my dissatisfaction with the flavorless Japchae, she became upset and pretended not to understand me before abruptly hanging up. It seems like the owner brought her negative personal attitude into the food business. I refuse to tolerate your tasteless Japchae and your rude behavior. The negative energy of the employees reflects their unhappiness working there. Disgusting. 아가씨 당신은 무례하고 매우 못생기고 나쁜 태도입니다.

Allen T.

Yelp
Wow, I just finished up an amazing plate of kalbi - it was one of the best I've ever had, even though it sat in a clamshell for 30 minutes while I drove home. The kalbi was perfectly cooked, still slightly fatty and gristly, with a bit of smoky char. It was served on top of rice with some super tasty japchae and a small serving of kimchi. I've been wanting to try Bart Grocery & BBQ for years, but I don't live that close, and there is no seating a the store. I finally made it over there, and wow, it was fantastic!

Eric B.

Yelp
This place is a grocery store but with a restaurant. People mainly come here for the amazing food but if you want to grab a snack or a drink on the way back to enjoy your meal with, they might have what you need. Overall, the staff is very friendly and the food is affordable and filling. This is not my first time here and I always come back every once in a while when I'm craving their food. The vibe here is kind of like a gas station without the gas. You got your fresher than gas station hot food on the side and all your beverages and snacks for the road.

Donny P.

Yelp
Growing up in SF, my only exposure to K-BBQ and galbi was Brothers BBQ on Geary Blvd. Back before there were any Gogi Time, Jang Su Jang or Gen Bbq. What??? You wore certain items of clothing knowing you were going to smell like charcoal during dinner! Having K-bbq was on the pricier side and a treat. Bart Grocery is a value packed neighborhood spot near the Daly City Bart Station. For $18.95, you get a huge portion of rice, japchae, several chunks of juicy galbi, and a side of salad! Many Korean restaurants charge $25 dollars or more alone just for the galbi! Limited delicious items on the menu that's perfect for weekday lunch or dinner. If you run in and out, your clothes won't smell like charcoal!

Love F.

Yelp
Not the most friendly staff But the food is very good and good size good price. I love it that it's very close from our house, easy order and pickup.

Rommel A.

Yelp
This might be one of my favorite places to get Korean food. True Mom and Pop/Hole in the wall type spot. This place rarely disappoints. The food is always good, taste homemade, portions are great, the service is great and they're always so friendly. They might be a little slow at times due to being understaffed or lots of orders, but it's always worth the wait. I'm always surprised at how much Japchae you get. I always ask for extra hot sauce because it's the perfect combination. Definitely a local gem!

Eugene D.

Yelp
The family is nice. Yes family owned! Parking sucks so you might need to double park. It's just a SF/Daly parking. Don't cry and go with a partner. Mom is a sweet person. The food is bomb and super reasonably priced especially since they load up the plate to the max. Order ahead with a call or App. It's the same amount of time. When you go inside they have a lot of snacks and alcohol. I usually get a pack of something.

Ruk G.

Yelp
I used to be a regular here long long time ago before yelping. Since it was so closed to my place and I was craving for grilled meat, I went for it. I always ordered short ribs with Korean glass noodles combos. It came with rice and some steam vegetables. Instead of side salad that I used to get, the lady asked me if I wanted the side kimchi. I said "please" right away. The portion was still huge as before. I ended up stuffing myself every time cau I didn't want to waste any of it. Also, I went for spicy tofu soup too. Oh mannn adding it to my favorite list after a couple of bites. The soup consisted with some dumplings tofu and some veggies. The level of spiciness is tolerable. It was fresh hot to warm me up on the rainy day. The counter lady is always super nice and friendly. Parking can be difficult. Since it is walking distance from me I wouldn't deduct points. Part of the restaurant is grocery so you can always pickup some soju along with the meal and some desserts. Too hungry again for pics. I apologized. Family owned restaurant which is established for a long time. Try them out. Iwill always support this place. Heart to the owners.

Justin Q.

Yelp
I been going here ordering to go since November 2020 pandemic days. They use to be good but the food tastes ok now. It's a small restaurant and has a mini grocery store. Most people order to go.

Allison T.

Yelp
An absolute hidden gem! It is literally on a side street inside a small grocery store near the Daly City Bart Station, and is not the kind of place you just stumble across. They have a pretty limited menu, but everything is 10/10! I've tried almost everything on the menu by now and my favorites include the kalbi and the spicy pork or chicken. Although the spicy ones can be pretty oily, the flavor is delicious and each order comes with rice, japchae, and kimchi on the side. Also note there are no tables to dine in since it is literally inside a grocery store, but if you're in the area and looking for a good take-out meal with generous portions for a decent price, I highly recommend stopping by Bart Grocery!

Ingrid Z.

Yelp
My friend introduced me to this place, and it is definitely a locals only spot. The food came out within 10-20 minutes of order, and portions were very generous. We were also given a few small containers of kimchi as a side dish. Kalbi Plate ($18.95)- 5/5 The marinade for the beef short ribs was the right about of savory and sweet. I also appreciated how they cut the short ribs into smaller pieces so it was easier to eat and share. Marinated Spicy Chicken ($11.95)- 5/5 This dish had a good balance of spice and flavor. Chicken was very tender and not dry at all. Bibimbap ($11.95)- 5/5 Vegetables were fresh and were well seasoned. The egg was also fried perfectly on top. Would come back here to try other menu items as well :)

Roy P.

Yelp
I have been a frequent guest for over 20 years and yesterday's orders was a complete disaster and disappointment. The chicken bbq was very tough and dry not to mention sauceless, the spicy pork not spicey at all and the potstickers were half burnt. We only had a couple of servings and discarded the rest. I will not be going back because of this.

Rosemarie F.

Yelp
Ordered through DoorDash twice, food is so good. Abundant of food given. The short ribs is the bomb!

larone r.

Yelp
Food was amazing would most definitely recommend again. Probably some of the best food I had in the city and it wasn't overly fancy.
