The only thing we ordered that we liked was the guacamole. The guacamole was great, BUT the pork belly tacos were mostly fat not meat. They were also much spicier than advertised. They said it wasn’t spicy, but it definitely was. Both of our mouth’s were on fire leaving the restaurant. I didn’t like the street corn either. When you arrive, they bring you to your table but then say that you have to order off of your phone. So not very much service.

The food here is consistently delicious! I eat here at least once a week! My favorite tacos are the pork belly, and duck tacos. I also loved the soft shell crab taco, but it’s only available for a short while. I also love their red sangria. It’s made in-house and is so delicious/refreshing. The service is always great, the staff are always friendly and it’s always a nice/clean environment. This is one of my favorite restaurants. You can never go wrong eating here. They allow dogs on the patio and even brought a bowl of water for him when it was hot outside. I love this place!

I honestly didn't have high expectations for this place, but I was wrong. The tacos are actually good. I had the chicken, I like that it wasn't pulled chicken but actual chopped chicken breast and well seasoned. All the ingredients were fresh and the service was really good. Everything can be ordered via QR code so you can add tacos whenever you want. I really enjoyed my grapefruit drink as well.

The service was incredible! Staff were very welcoming and sweet. Everything was just organized from the way you order, to paying for your food, and even the way they ask you to call for your server in case of any questions. The food was very very delicious. I’m definitely coming here again. They sell their tacos individually instead of a set of 3. So you get to try whichever type you like. I decided to get the chicken taco and the Baja fish taco. Chef’s kiss. I also ordered some plantains on the side. I highly recommend it!

I really love this restaurant. My friend and I came here on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. The bartender and all staff were great and super friendly. There is outdoor and indoor seating as well. We had a mixture of tacos. I like that the tacos have a play on other genres of food. Everything is always super fresh. Prices are very reasonable. Drinks are ~12.00, their margarita is one of my favorites. Tacos are about $3.50 a piece and 1-2 bites, more of a small plate. Sides range from 3-5+. Overall, i really enjoy this restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious and the vibe is laid back. I would highly recommend to anyone in a Ballston area

It was my first time visiting restaurant and it was okay. Negative - customer experience. The QR menu should be an option, but not mandatory in my opinion. It took two of us to figure out how to use the mobile menu system. I expect a smoother customer experience. No complementary chips and salsa. Again, I think this should be a standard. Tacos were okay. They are small street tacos. The spicy chicken was tasty. The secret zucchini was decent. It has a sweetnesses from the corn salsa. Nice service overall. Overall, it’s a decent spot.

Came here on a Thursday evening and got seated immediately. We absolutely loved the ambiance, there was indoor and outdoor seating but all the windows were open so inside was perfect. Not a ton of options for different taco flavors. Tried several different tacos and they were fairly small and didn't have much on them but not bad for the price, some of them fell apart as you ate them which made things difficult. The drinks were good as well. Favorite taco of the night was the chicken verde, and the sangria and no-hito were so tasty. No free chips and salsa before the meal which was sort of disappointing.

FIrst, it won't be easy to find this location if it is your first time in this shopping and eating area. I parked in the garage and from there I had to make a few u-turn because of google directions. Once you find the location, it is a cool looking hang out location. The food and drink presentation were on point and the music was just right. Nice outdoor setting as well. I was the photographer for the Yelp event. Overall great staff.

Sadly the drinks here are still incredibly weak and for the price, feels offensive to give so little alcohol. I order the marg spicy and thought she gave me the wrong one until a large chunk of jalapeño hit me in the nose as I finished the drink. I would assume one would muddle the jalapeño to make it spicy but we're at bartaco after all- there's almost no spice in the whole place. Food wise, their duck taco still rocks and so does the mushroom one, though they throw way too many onions on the duck taco. The red salsa is so salty it tastes like soy sauce and not at all what you'd expect. Their guacamole is tasteless too. For the price, the drinks and food just don't compare to a taco bamba or El Paso.

Really fast service! It is definitely funny with their set up of ordering through the QR code all by yourself but the waiter is still attentive for waters. The food all came out really fast and hot and everyone at my table was really happy with what they got. Beautiful inside decorations. Highly recommend for a date or catching up with friends. We did a birthday dinner here and they let you bring in a cake which was nice.

Still a great place to come eat. I enjoyed some chips, tacos and margaritas with friends recently. I've also been to happy hour. The staff is also so nice. Such a cool and welcoming vibe. Fresh food that tastes delicious. Their margaritas are my favorite around.

Was really excited to see a bartaco in Ballston open up! Seating: There is indoor and outdoor seating and you can't make a reservation. You can call to get on the waitlist or check online and get on the waitlist. Outdoor seating is limited and pleasant on a nice day. Food/Drink: I've listed everything that we ordered below, next time I go back I am going to order the exact same thing. - My favorite taco is the roasted duck - it was fabulous and next time I will order three. - The Duck Bowl is fantastic and might be my favorite thing I have gotten so far as an entree. It is a bit spicy but has such amazing flavor. The rice with it is really good as well. - Drink: Reviver made of citadelle gin + cucumber + mint + mango nectar and lime juice which was very refreshing. - I love plantains and order them at every restaurant. It is hard to find a place where they are crispy, not too greasy, not hard, etc. and these were cooked to perfection. They come in banana slices and are $4. - The guac is so good and is a bit spicy. Instead of coming with chips, it comes with hard shell tortillas. - The duck birria is like a quesadilla with shredded duck + oaxaca + cotija cheeses that you dip in a birria-style duck broth for $7. - The Panucho comes with two and is black bean purée + avocado on crispy tortilla shell w/ crisp salad of cabbage, pickled onion, spiced pepitas, serrano chile + cilantro. It was very refreshing, kind of hard to eat thorough. Ordering: They have the QR code menu here, and you order/pay for all your food on your phone as well. If you need anything, they give you a sign that you put up on your table and someone will come over. Parking: You can park in Ballston mall for $1 for up to 3 hours.

This was such a fun experience! I love bar taco but this is my first time at this location and I must say I had such a good time! Shout out to Adrian who was our serve! He'ltook extra good care of me and my homegirl! He was so sweet and also very easy on eyes lol The manger was super helpful as well! The vibe was super chill. The music wasn't too loud and the temperature was perfect. Definitely going back the next time I'm in VA

Finally tried this spot for an event. It's okay. I have a thing for tasty rice and the rice wasn't as chewy as I liked in my rice bowl. So slightly undercooked. Pork belly was delicious and the bowl was smaller than I expected but it is priced accordingly. Service was helpful and it was quick since they utilise QR codes to order and deliver directly to the table. The waiters are still available and super helpful ! It's a cute casual restaurant in Ballston quarter.

This is prob the best tacos I have ever had! I love this place and the fresh drinks! The service is amazing! These tacos are what dreams are made of! Love the guac, plantains and pineapple and all the other sides tbh! The ambience is amazing, feels like ur in a taco spot in Cali! Amazing!!

Unfortunately I think they've gone downhill a little, specifically in regards to portion sizes, which sucks because everything seems to be even more expensive. I got my 3 favorite tacos yesterday; the pork belly, fried oyster, and Baja fish. The Baja fish taco was as perfect as ever! The pork belly was 3 pieces of pork belly that only took up about 2/3 of the taco shell. The taste was still great but definitely smaller portions than before. The oyster one, usually my favorite, was a joke. I used to get 2 large fried oysters in my shell (see the picture I posted before) but now there was one SMALL oyster (and some fried batter scraps) so I was mostly eating an empty taco shell with sauce for $6. If both of these portion sizes were just a fluke I'd love to come back, if not then I probably wouldn't visit again. Too expensive to have half portions.

Love the Bartaco's in ATL, so I wondered what this one would be like. I will say that the menu had a variety of drinks and food, prices weren't bad either. Service was decent, we opted for the bar as we were only passing by.

Well priced, yummy tacos! Not a fan of the QR code service because I had some menu questions that I never really had the chance to ask anyone about. The chorizo taco was delicious, the crispy shrimp taco was soggy so I don't recommend if you really want that crunch. Their guac was just avocado, I would have liked to see some red pepper and jalapeno etc. in it since it's homemade. A really nice environment to go to with friends. Would gladly return!

We love this spot. The happy hour is incredible. We usually pop in and get a seat at the bar. Bartenders are always kind and attentive. Drinks and food are always delicious. Love the salsas and guacamole, pork belly, and chorizo tacos. Great indoor out space. And lots of other options around so good spot for groups who can't agree.

I found the food here to be pretty disappointing. The starters we got with the elote corn which was ok nothing special, guac and chips which came with five massive very salty chips you had to break and the plantains which were good. For the mains, I got the chicken and brisket tacos. Chicken was ok, brisket had good flavor but it was super dry and tough. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Bartaco is a classy and casual restaurant chain that serves some great drinks, tacos, and sides. I love the Ballston location in particular for the easy parking in the Quarter Market garage ($1 for up to 3 hours) and the gorgeous outdoor patio with string lights. Their food is consistently delicious, including their non-taco food. I usually order the Tuna Poke, Plantains, and Crispy Oyster tacos. Other standout tacos are the Baja Fish and the Glazed Pork Belly! This is super specific, but I think one of my favorite things about Bartaco is their ordering system. You just scan the QR code on the table and order directly from your phone, with options to split the bill with others or cover for the whole table. Once you're done eating, you can check out and pay from your phone right away. I found this to be very convenient, especially since I have a strong food aversion to cilantro and thought it was easy to customize my food exactly how I like it. Even when we ordered our food online, the servers were still super attentive and provided excellent service!

Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed with my food. I started with an assortment of vegetarian tacos - mushroom, cauliflower and falafel - all of them were pretty bland and left me feeling hungry. The falafel was pretty dry. I ordered a rice bowl - which was had too much rice in comparison to other ingredients. Staff were friendly, sangria was good and the restaurant was clean. I wouldn't return for the food. Overall, mixed reviews among my group of friends.

Such a cute spot for date night! Located on the lower level of Ballston Quarter, it offers a cozy and intimate ambiance. We shared some tacos (on the smaller side) and ceviche for a late bite--all were delicious. The only downside was that they don't accept Apple Pay, so my fiancé had to grab his credit card.

Service is impeccable. You order on a QR code but are constantly being checked on by the people that work there in a great way. Ambiance has a warm and cozy beach vibe inside with a huge beautiful bar you can see from anywhere inside. Outdoor seating has a lot of options on a beautiful day with comfy chairs. All of the sides/non tacos are incredible. I crave their plantains and the sauce that comes with it is one of the greatest sauces I have legitimately ever had in my life. The reason I'm giving this a 4 instead of a 5 is that the tacos themself are good not great and some of the more expensive tacos for the size.

I'm a big fan of bar taco. They note the size of their tacos upon taking your order so they can put expectations up first. I personally love bartaco for everything but their tacos. I think about their fried plantains and the sauce that comes with them very often. The tuna poke is also a showstopper. Already planning when I can order those again. Their cocktails and mock tails are very tasty. I think their tacos are tasty I just like the other items better. The inside and outside seating area of bartaco is such a fun, beachy vibe you can't help but be happy there. Last time I went to bartaco my service was impeccable and all the waiters were very friendly and helpful!

Food was great and beer was great can't get better than good beer and good tacos I got the mushroom and falafel tacos and they were both great! Super good- the marg was strong and okay (I'm not a huge tequila person) other people in my party got the spicy margs they probably would've rated it a 4 - they didn't think it was really spicy. The beer was sooo good definitely would come again - I've been to other bartaco's but this location was so cute and the vibe interior and exterior was such a vibe. Service was quick even though they took some time to get to us but we also went during prime dinner time so it was packed and the fact that we got a table with 5+ almost immediately was so good

Been going to the same Bar Taco in Ballston Quarter for months. Just today a bartender I know asked for my driver's license to serve one beer. I had a digital picture but no hard card. Didn't get served, needless to say will never be going back.

Came here on a weekday for a early dinner. This place is on the bottom level of the mall attached to the food court. I was able to easily get a seat at the bar and ordered 3 tacos. All of them tasted great, though the duck and shrimp were the memorable ones for me. I asked the bartender for suggestions and she was happy to give suggestions. It's good to know the people at the restaurant actually eat the food. I would consider the ambience of this place modern, clean looking, and a great place to have a meal.

A very modern taco place! Easy and convenient ordering so that's super good for the wait staff. I got four tacos (they recommend four for one person usually) 1. Duck taco: duck thighs shredded w/ tamarind glaze (delish although a bit greasy) 7/10 2. Fish taco: spicy tempura battered cod served over chipotle slaw. My favorite! The lime is everything. 8/10 3. Avocado taco: tempura-battered avocado on a tangy + crispy veracruz slaw topped w/ cilantro vinaigrette + cotija cheese. Excellent vegan option 7/10 4. Mushroom taco : roasted wild mushroom with spices and queso fresco. 5/10 good but very earthy. We also got a platter of "guac + roja + verde + chips", it's very good but the "chips" are tortilla rounds so you have to break them into chips yourself. Are these street tacos ? No....but they're good in their own way and the restaurant is very accommodating. Beautiful venue and bar.

Generally, I liked the location, but it was very crowded. Ambiance: (4/5) It was very crowded which was somewhat expected on a Friday night. The inside fit the vibe of the Ballston area. Price: (3/5) The portions are so small that it felt like a snack and the bowls were $12 + tax. Food: (3/5) They had some good hot sauces that added more flavor (mango was one that stood out), but the chorizo itself was a bit dry. The fajitas were flavorful and added a different texture. The rice was also dry. It could have used some seasoning. I would rather get a bowl from Chipotle that has a complete flavor profile and is enough for a meal. Service: (3/5) My order took about 45 mins to get ready. They also have me the wrong wait time when I walked in. In conclusion, there is no need to pay the extra price and wait longer than necessary. Just go to Chipotle.

Solid 3.5. Like the vibe, decor, and ambiance. Monday dinner, famished, but had to fumble through e-menu / registering device yada yada. Just wanted food and drink. Finally got paper menu we could add order/counts. Waiter was nice but absent after food dropped. Tacos not bad, but could get pricey if you have an appetite! $40 for 3 people -- no booze and 1 item was a kids meal. IMHO, Chicken tacos better than fish tacos.

I know the conventional wisdom says not to judge a restaurant before trying it at least three times, but I am definitely judging. As far as the service, they tried way too hard to be friendly, but did not actually want to engage in a meaningful way and make sure that the food actually was good. It just felt like one giant upsell opportunity for them. And the tacos. The cauliflower seasonal taco was actually really, really good! But the shrimp taco completely missed the mark. All of the tacos were flaccid and had only one tortilla. That construction does not hold up the insides! It just felt very cheap and I definitely overpaid for substandard food. I will not return to Bartaco, but maybe you will have a better experience

Very cute restaurant but it's a 3 out of 5 for me. Food was decent, I tried the Chile shrimp bowl and a Baja shrimp taco. Wasn't too impressed, basic I feel. They have it set that you scan and place your order on app instead placing with waiter/waitress. Then it's brought out to you. Once we placed our order, we had received only half our order and waited 5 minutes to see if the other half would be brought out but did not. I then asked one young gentleman to check on it and he never came with order so finally brought to someone else attention and she brought out other half of our order plus a fresh bowl to replace my order since we had been waiting for a total of 15 minutes for the rest of our order. Overall, I'd give this place another shot but maybe not on a Friday evening when busy.

My friend and I took a long walk along Wilson Blvd last night and the elegant restaurant/bar vibes of Bartaco with its bopping music enticed us to give this place a try. Even though I've lived in the Ballston area for almost 9 months, this is my first time. Nice to know that there are establishments in this neighborhood that are open after 9 PM. First and foremost, you're paying for the vibe. The food is pretty overpriced for how mediocre it is, but if you look beyond that, you'll have a great time! It's definitely very aesthetic and picture worthy - my friend and I decided to sit in the outdoor area to enjoy the pretty hanging lights and Ballston Quarter. SALSA VERDE + CHIPS - 3.50 This comes with 4 very large chips (hard taco shells, essentially) and a generous side of salsa verde. Each chip was probably the size of 4-5 regular tortilla chips. We thought the salsa verde was a bit too watery - we had a hard time getting enough dip for our chip because it doesn't stick onto the chip really well. There is a strong cilantro taste that I had to get used to. Overall, salsa was flavorful but again, hard to get too much of it all at once. BAJA FISH TACO - 3.95 Add 25 cents for bibb lettuce shell if you want it more keto friendly. The taco was extremely small - you could probably eat this within 2-3 bites. The battered cod fish was the best part about this as it was very crispy and seasoned well. The chipotle slaw was a nice touch. Pretty pricy for tacos, to be honest. I definitely recommend looking into the 4 or 8 pack of tacos for a slightly lower price. Bartaco is a good option for some late night food and drinks and a later night out in the Ballston area. It's definitely on the more expensive or "bougie" side. If you want something cheap, go to the IHOP a couple blocks north because you most definitely won't find that at Bartaco. To note, the tacos here aren't authentic Mexican tacos, to make that clear.

I've been to other Bartaco locations outside of the DMV but tried the Bartaco in Ballston for the first time. They don't take reservations so we put our party of 9 on the waitlist and they said it would be around 45 minutes. They actually called us back within 15 minutes after a table cleared up for us. Ordering is through a QR code on your table, and you can order everything and even pay your check through your phone. It's convenient when going with large parties so that everyone can pay for their own order. An 18% gratuity charge is already included on your check. I split a chili lime shrimp bowl with a friend and also got a Baja fish taco and the chili lime shrimp taco as well. The shrimp bowl was good and came with brown rice, shrimp, and some veggies. There are salsas at the table you can add: roja, jalapeño, or habanero. The Baja fish and chili shrimp tacos were good, but the portion seemed really small to me. Looking at other photos of peoples tacos in the reviews it feels like ours had less filling. My shrimp taco only came with 3 small shrimp and a little slaw. Overall it was a good experience, and our waiter was really nice and helpful. It's in a convenient location with other restaurants in the area and the vibe was fun! Even for a Wednesday night Bartaco was pretty busy but that made it a fun experience.

This place never misses. I usually go to the Penn Quarter location in DC, but this is right next to my work. I love the tacos, and happy hour items. The manager, BJ, always also very kind and friendly. The tacos here are great. The pork belly one is my favorite, and the small bites kale Caesar is a nice snack.

This place and the people who work here are the best. Great menu. Great method for ordering. Fast. Delicious tacos especially the pork belly. Kids meal always hits the spot for the youngins. Most of all the staff is always really great. Pleasant, courteous, and efficient. We love it so much we go a few Fridays a month.

Awesome food and service. Had the ribeye taco and crispy shrimp taco. The crispy shrimp was amazing. Definitely a 6 out 5 when you include the exceptional service.

I love the customer service! I LOVE the food! I love the environment, calming casual enjoyable! Hi highly recommend Bartaco. This will be an add to our regular Go-to list! They offer a variety of cocktails! All yummy! I thought the 5 different tacos we ordered were terrific, they were all very good, but the pork belly is something you need to try! So very delish!

I've been to several Bartacos over the years, and they absolutely never disappoint. The service and quality of food is always outstanding. Ordering is done completely through your phone and a QR code on the table, but the staff are still attentive and accommodating to any request. To start, we got the small dip sampler, which was more than enough for the two of us. The salsa verde was my favorite (very cilantro heavy!). We were not a huge fan of the salsa roja, which was on the sweeter side. The guacamole was incredibly fresh and super limey, which contrasted great with the creamy texture. For my drink, I got the oaxacan sunshine, which was incredible. The smoky tequila paired perfectly with the tangy and sweet combination of clementine and passion fruit. If you get anything at Bartaco, get this drink! We also tried the street corn, which was seasoned to perfection. Lastly, I had three of their tacos. This was a perfect amount with the dip and the street corn, but I would suggest ordering 1-2 more of that is all you are eating. My favorite was the glazed pork belly, which is the perfect combination of sweet and salty. I also tried the roasted duck and chile lime shrimp, which were both delicious. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the Bartaco menu items. We ate around 6PM on a Friday and had no problem getting a table, but there was a wait when we left the restaurant. If dining during peak hours, I would recommend joining the online waitlist ahead of time so you minimize your wait for a table. Overall, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing. I will be back!

IT's TACO TuEsDAY!! I decided to come to come get some street style tacos. All of the food here which I have mostly tried comes out fresh and flavorful. I love the menu. Cheers to the chefs in the kitchen who make every meal of mines fresh and delicious. Let me tell you my experience every time I come here is consistent. Saul this time greeted me and I'm use to seeing him behind the bar and I was pleased to find out he's the Manager! The (All) staff bartenders are always polite, friendly talkative and ready to put my order in. It's Margarita March .. come here if you love flavorful margaritas. My favorite happens to be the spicy jalapeño margarita want a kick? make it Spivey I recommend this location to all!

Seared Chorizo 7.5/10 - Tender, could've used more flavor Spiced Chicken Verde 7/10 - Basic, chicken taco Chili-Lime Shrimp 7/10 - Fresh, kick of spice Glazed Pork Belly 10/10 - Crispy, juicy outside and tender inside - Sweet almost honey like flavor - Best taco out of all of these #bartacosecret Yellow Bird Coconut Shrimp 6.5/10 - Pickled veggies, mediocre Sesame Ribeye Rice Bowl 8.5/10 - Beef reminded me of bulgogi - Comes with kimchi, red onions, and bell peppers You can easily order and pay through the QR code! Service is easily available even while doing everything through the phone.

Love bartaco for their menu's flexibility: if raw onions or cilantro aren't your thing you can leave them off, or swap delightful tender bibb lettuce for tortillas. Look for the butter poached lobster secret taco in the summer months. Staff was super kind and even gave us several taco tokens to redeem next time! For add-ons, the tuna poke, black beans, duck birria quesadilla and of course chips and guacamole are go-to's.

Bartaco looks super cute to get drinks at-- and it totally is!! They have a wonderful outdoor patio that's kept clean and cool. The inside is air conditioned well and is also clean. The drinks are tasty and there's a good amount of options for tacos. The tacos are fresh and flavorful, but they are about 2-3 bites each so you'll need quite a few to fill you up. Though the food and drinks are good, I'm extremely disappointed with the interface used to order everything. Bartaco takes QR codes to a whole different level, so much so that it makes the experience impersonal and not very hospitable. I dine out to disconnect from my devices and, instead, I was met with silent scrolling with my party at the table. The website used to order everything asked who was paying for the bill before ordering anything at all. No one enjoys talking about who's paying as their first conversation at the table. Not only did it make the dining experience awkward right from the start, but it was also confusing because it redirects everyone to yet another QR code if you plan on covering the bill for the table. After that, you have to put in your credit card information before your order is even accepted/processed. Makes sense for fast food or quick dining but not at a restaurant-- it makes things very transactional, furthering the experience being impersonal and not hospitable. Though the food is tasty, and the drinks are acceptable, a huge part of dining has to do with service, hospitality, and being able to interact/socialize with your party, all of which were not met at this establishment. The only time I'd come back here is for drinks. I'd never dine here again due to the confusion of the online ordering and how impersonal and transactional the experience is.

Love Bartaco! Their pork belly tacos, corn, and tres leches are my favorite, but they are a little pricey. Can easily add up to $30 per person.

Absolutely delish! Service, cost, taste, ambiance, and all are amazing. Came here for ladies night and I didn't expect it to be this amazing. Will be back. Parking across the street at the garage is $1 for every 3 hours if you can't find street parking.

About 20 to 30 minutes before you go, I recommend adding your name to the waitlist, as it does get crowded on a Friday and Saturday night. We tried a variety of the tacos. Spiced chicken, mushroom, tuna, shrimp, and a few others. The tacos are small, so I recommend 4 to 5 if you are hungry. Had chips and guacamole which were tasty and a nice appetizer. They provide you a QR code here, and you order through that, which seems quite efficient. Don't have to have much interaction with a waiter if you don't want to. Will definitely be back to try the rice bowl and some of their other appetizers.

Super packed was able to grab a seat at the bar. Didn't reallly care for the food I ordered but drinks are great! Bri the bartender is the best!

How is this my first time doing a review on my favorite place?? Whenever I'm in the mood for fast tacos that don't taste like fast food, this is my go to. The pork belly and oyster tacos are my absolute favorite! The ceviche is amazing! Staff is always friendly-- they work as a team. Just go here. Fast casual at it's best!
