Seattle’s Stalled ‘Poverty Defense Law’ Could Reform Policies for Hunger-Related Crimes | Eater Seattle

"In one recollection, a Bartell drugstore became the scene of a desperate act: Kyrrah, homeless and starving, spotted someone eating a candy bar, was driven inside by hunger and the bright-yellow wrapper, and grabbed a Butterfinger that cost less than one dollar; as he ran the manager tackled him around the knees, he reached for a phone receiver that fell onto the manager’s head, and he was initially charged with second-degree robbery (a felony that could carry up to 10 years), later accepting a plea deal and receiving a six-month sentence." - Sabra Boyd

I used to love shopping at Bartell Drugs, going back to when I was a child (I loved walking to the store with friends and getting a treat). Now, however, they are sadly discontinuing carrying my GLP-1 medication; and so I am discontinuing shopping with them. I am sure they have some reason. Perhaps even a sensible reason. But, as a diabetic I need my medication. Unfortunately, this means I will have to shift to a store that carries it. So long to a nearly 40-year shopping relationship, it's been an experience!

Google
I am sorry to see such bad reviews for this store. It is clean, well organized and the people working there always helpful. My experience with the pharmacy has been excellent. Like all pharmacies sometimes they are super busy and customers are not always very kind or considerate. Their drive through window works very well and they encourage anyone actively sick and potentially contagious to use the window to pick up medication.

Google
Their phone number does not give you an option to talk with a person ever and cannot understand that I want to ask if they have something in stock. Just delete you phone number if you can't afford one.

Bartells has really gone down hill. I called to see if my Paxlovid could be filled before closing at 6, the pharmacist said yes and I confirmed that my husband would be there to get my meds. He showed up at the drive thru at 5:53 and was turned away saying the pharmacy was closed. This was after I received a text at 5:47 that my prescription was ready. Why does the website say it closes at 6 if it’s actually at 5:50? I would be more understanding if this was a restaurant, but these are meds that need to be taken within 5 days of symptoms and tomorrow will be day 5. I’m so frustrated and was looking forward to some symptom relief and rest. I’m including photos showing the confirmation text that my Rx was ready and the call time from husband saying he got denied. I called to confirm since it was close to close… why would they say yes?

Google
Terrible experience. Came in this morning around 11am for a few makeup products. The cashier, a thin woman with a long dark ponytail, scanned my items and loudly commented that I “like expensive things”. She then proceeded to ask me- in front of a line of waiting customers- if I even look at the price of an item when I go to buy it. The products were literally $11 each. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and just have to say- this is totally inappropriate behavior towards a customer. I have to wonder if she makes the same remarks to customers buying medicine or toiletries. Ridiculous.

Google
This is a review for the pharmacy. I used to go to one closer to me until staff changed and they were really rude to me. I switched to this one because they had my meds when the other one didn't. Day and night change. They are always helpful and cheerful on the phone. Quick to fix issues and i don't feel like a burden. They could make mistakes everytime (they don't) and id still go back because they treat me like a human. I just really appreciate that while having chronic health issues. Thank you pharmacy staff.

Google
6 pm close on Saturday? I’m going to have to move all prescriptions to Walgreens

Google
Sometimes us humans blow things off as someone is most likely having a rough day, there are many factors that influence that as we all know, yet along this journey we call life we run into just plain angry people who have every self validated reason to treat others like dirt, I fully realize that pharmacists have a hectic busy atmosphere, but Jeneil at Bartells here makes a valiant effort on letting the world know everyone in it needs to be as miserable as she is. Good job Bartells at hiring that character, I switched my profile to a better place.

Yelp
it breaks my heart to see my beloved Bartell drugs in this condition. there's nothing on the shelves. this place used to be a great place to shop, especially for seniors. since Rite aid bought this chain, it's just been downhill. staff has been cut to a minimum. there was not one person in the store today that I knew. i expect to see its closure any day now. will be a very sad loss to our community.

Yelp
We work with them they work with us and we absolutely love the kindness and hard work of Brandon in pharmacy. He works so hard above and amazing in kindness to us always. Thanking him over and over is all I can do other then this. Just overall amazing work!

Yelp
My grandma loved shopping at this store while she was still able to. I enjoy shopping here as well. In the past I have come here occasionally and more recently I have been coming here more frequently. They have a good selection of over the counter medicines and a pharmacy. I went in looking for hand sanitizer yesterday (26 April 2020) and they were all sold out even of the small travel size ones. The were almost sold out of soap, there were not many left. Oh well, a reason to try back again later. I like the themed section in the back of the store with miscellaneous Seahawks, Seattle, University of Washington, and Washington State University novelties. It is fun to peruse, occasionally I find good gifts or things for myself. I have found excellent cards here over the years for various occasions. They also have a big selection of candy and a solid selection of school and office supplies. Good place to go if you need something from more than one of these categories.

Artos B.

Yelp
I chose Bartells because it was a local company. I have gone to the pharmacy many times over the years, and they screwed up, without exception, every time. You're called that your Rx is ready, but it's not. You go up to the counter, but the person working there didn't sign in before staring some small chore, so when you're ready, they take ten minutes so they can figure out what they can do what they should have done first thing they walked in the door. They tell your shot is at x o'clock but when you get there everyone's been scheduled for x, and when you try to find out how long the wait will be, they won't tell you, but give some bs line like "soon." I had to ask four times before they would admit that my wait would be half an hour. You sign up for shots, fill in the form, they tell you they'll call you when they're ready, but they never do; twenty minutes later you ask what is going on and it's "duh." I have never gone to the pharmacy once that they got it right. They are perfectly consistent in their incompetence.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Today they are out of bags at the checkout registers, which they don't tell customers until they are at the checkout with a basket full of items. It would have been helpful if they had posted a sign at the door, but when I mentioned it to the cashier all I got was an eye roll. So I ended up trying to carry my items to my car in my arms & hands & pockets, and ended up dropping and damaging several of my purchases. Next time I'll just walk away. This place should just give up at this point. Even Rite Aid is better

Yelp
I am giving this specifically for the pharmacist and pharmacy. We have some time sensitive medication needs and they have gone above and beyond to support us. It is evident that all healthcare related businesses are understaffed and over impacted by demand. I really respect the level of care shown by this team at the pharmacy.

Abbie W.

Yelp
Great place! Family owned and best pharmacy besides Costco. Go there to support them as much as possible as opposed to Walgreens or CVS or any other corporate pharmacy including Rite Aid.

Yelp
Hope the Bartells board members are enjoying their fat stacks after selling the company to Rite Aid. The service at this Bartells and many others in the region has been absolutely awful. I won't waste too much breath here, it's more of the same - they tell you prescriptions are ready when they aren't (this will be my 4th time trying to get my ADHD medication this week), wait times are always super long, and while I know it's not the cashier or pharmacists fault, nobody is interested in hearing a long story about how or why you fucked up their critical and in some cases life saving medication repeatedly. I'm constantly told contradicting information about my meds, why something is covered or why it isn't etc. the service is never consistent anymore. Get your shit together. I'm moving my prescriptions elsewhere.
google avatar

Alex B. H.

Yelp
I have being using Bartell's pharmacy for more than 20 years mostly because of the outstanding customer service. This has changed since the buy-out. My issues are similar to the others. Hope the Bartells board members are enjoying their fat stacks after selling the company to Rite Aid. The service at this Bartells has been absolutely awful since the buyout.A lot of the long time staff have quit and the new staff and pharmacist are very rude and short. They all seem to not like doing their jobs, which is to provide CUSTOMER SERVICE. I switched primary care physicians after Virginia Mason took over a local family practice and ran that into the ground and now it looks like I will be switching pharmacies too. Rite-Aid has tarnished the Bartell name.

Yelp
I'm updating my review because I've seen a real change in Bartells the last few months. The drive thru is open and accessible for prescriptions, the pharmacists are kind and transparent, and the wait is no longer than any other pharmacy. I think they've really put effort into improving, and it shows.

Andrea M.

Yelp
I was double-charged for a prescription at this Bartells location today. I prepaid yesterday online, and was given payment confirmation through my phone. When I showed up to pick up my prescription today, I was asked to pay again. My prescription was held hostage until I paid TWICE. When I got home, I could see both transactions had gone through my bank. Bartells' solution? Come back to the store with a receipt and get a refund. But TODAY, I showed the person at the pharmacy the confirmation on my phone that I had already paid for the prescription. That phone confirmation WAS my actual payment receipt. That receipt was completely disregarded by the pharmacy staff. Somehow, my payment was conveniently not showing up on Bartells' end. Like many others, I've been meaning to switch pharmacies for some time now. This did it. No one should have to double pay for a prescription. And no one's prescription should be held hostage until double payment is submitted. Like others, I have been filling prescriptions at Bartells for two decades. I will not be back.
google avatar

Sondra P.

Yelp
Every time I pick up my prescriptions here, I tell myself I'm going to switch to another pharmacy. I've literally never had a positive experience with the pharmacy, even after almost a year of getting prescriptions here. Folks are rude, the pharmacy will send texts saying the scripts are ready and then the person at the counter will act like you're an idiot for expecting your meds to be there. This is after a super long wait, too.

Yelp
Usually this is a Bartell Drugs I have driven past countless times after taking the Edmonds-Kingston ferry. However, one sales person there (whose name I neglected to note) earned a 5 star Yelp rating for exceptional and helpful customer service. I was looking for a particular 12th Man Seahawks flag on sale this afternoon. There were none at my usual store on 185th/Aurora in Shoreline and the person there was essentially useless, just mumbling that there might be some up at the Edmonds store. So it's back on Aurora driving northwest to Edmonds. This happened to be the first time to step inside this particular Bartell Drugs, again this popular item was out. This particular sales person heard that I now planned to drive back into Seattle and check the Lake City and Greenwood stores. Yes, I really wanted a flag! She took the time to write down the phone numbers for both of these stores. I thanked her, especially since there were quite a lot of other customers all queued up to pay for their stuff. Because of her kind gesture, I was able to call the Lake City store where staff there were able to check and confirm that indeed these 12th Man Seahawks flags were available. The sales person there asked if I was the one who called earlier. For all that effort I bought two flags. See the Happy 12th Woman Dance! Mega karma points to that particular sales person and the main reason why this Bartell Drugs gets a 5 star Yelp rating. Thank you!

Yelp
Dismal service, disrespect, and rudeness when I was being friendly. No excuse. I'm taking my prescriptions elsewhere.

Yelp
Lots of super nice people work here. I generally feel comfortable and welcomed. Convenient and easy-going.

Yelp
The shopping center where this BD is located is kind of a cluster. It shares the parking lot with several other businesses and on a Saturday that means you'll need the patience of a saint to wait for a spot. Once in the store, I found it to be very busy with holiday shoppers. I searched high and low for an associate who could help me locate an item but could fine none. I left the store after determining I wasn't going to get the help I needed at this location.

Yelp
I have being using Bartell's pharmacy for more than 15 years mostly because of the outstanding customer service. This has changed since the buy-out. My issues are similar to the others. My prescription is never ready when I come in even if I have received notification or called it in days before. I was hopeful that Rite Aid could keep what made Bartell's so special to us. It is time to move on.

Yelp
A good Bartell's for selection on over-the-counter medication, decent parking and convenient to where I live. Prices are a bit steep for what they sell compared to Walgreens just up the street or Target. Saving me time was worth the extra dollars. The cashier was yelling at a fellow employee about schedules while ringing me up.

Claire D.

Yelp
Review of the Pharmacy: If you like horrible customer service, long waits, lost prescriptions, and rude staff this place is for you!! Today was the final straw for me. Have been coming here for over 10 years - I will be taking my prescriptions elsewhere. Rather drive somewhere further away then deal with the staff at this location. Very disappointed by the lack of responsibility taken by the staff. This is not a lack of staff, this is a lack of quality leadership. Notes: - losing prescriptions (never okay) -failing to notify you when they can't for some reason fill a prescription (not okay!!) -allowing an employee to cut the line in front of customers (never okay) -allowing other customers to cut the line "because they are an asshole" (never okay - also not okay to call your customers assholes) -placing someone on hold for over 2 hours then hanging up without notice (never okay)

Cyndi A.

Yelp
I have been a long time customer but I have received repeatedly rude and poor customer service. Prescriptions are taking 3-4 days and then they can't find my prescription after I receive a message the prescription was filled. My daughter recently had a string of horrible experiences. Today was the topper. After receiving a text message yesterday that her prescription was ready she stopped on her way home from work today to pick it up the prescription. Beth was nothing short of rude and disrespectful AND her prescription wasn't ready! After 30 minutes waiting, my daughter's prescription was finally filled. We are both transferring our prescriptions to another pharmacy.
google avatar

Damon J.

Yelp
Bartells has been my pharmacy for the last decade or so and the customer service had been excellent, however since the buy out by Rite-Aid the customer service has gone in the dumper. Half the time when i go in to get my prescriptions they do not have ready even though i have been given notifications stating otherwise. Orders are lost and calling in to the check on orders means in most cases being put on hold for 10-20 minutes. There once trusty App is a now crap shoot, before the buyout online orders were usually ready the next day now it takes 72 hour. I do not blame the pharmacy staff for these issues as most of the staff (that did not quit) were there before the take over, but the transition to Rite-Aid has been a disaster. I am very close to going back to Walgreens (not great) or ordering my scrips online.

Yelp
Wow, what a great Bartell's store! Note this review is for the store proper; I haven't used their pharmacy services. I've been to this store 3 or 4 times now, and it's consistently been great: super well-organized, super-well stocked, with the usual huge selection of sundries, foodstuffs and miscellaneous supplies that most Bartells stores have. This store, more so than others, has consistently been immaculate (like, eat off the floor clean) and never has any item I've looked for been out of stock. In fact, there seems to be a bigger selection here in some departments than in other Bartell stores (at least, it seems that way to me). It's definitely a larger store than some. As in most Bartells, the counter staff are very personable and friendly. What sets this store above the others is the availability of the staff on the floor. Since the store lay-out differs than the Bartell stores I'm used to, I have had problems finding certain items (like hand soap, for example). There has always been an employee around in the aisles for me to ask. And here, they've never been dismissive of me or just pointed me in the right direction; oh no, here they insist on walking me to the aisle I need and showing me where the items are that I've inquired about. And they've always seemed happy to do it, and chatted with me like a friend. At the cash/check out, on the last two visits I've been here, the clerk immediately called for more cashiers to open up if more than two people were in line. I can tell that a lot of the customers are regulars here and the employees are friendly with them, knowing people by name. Wish I lived nearby to come here more regularly.

Lulu K.

Yelp
I don't know what is up with these guys, but my prescriptions are never ready on time. When I request it to be done at a certain time, I show up and they say, "ok, we will get it ready for you now." Why wait for the customer to ARRIVE before you do anything? Time to find another in network pharmacy!
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
The store is fine but the pharmacy...ugh. They don't keep their promise of pick-up time for prescriptions because they are "busy." Today my med was late due to a computer glitch. They have attempted to charge me full price even when I have a coupon from the manufacturer because they seem too lazy to check the details. My refrigerated medication was not in the refrigerator and when I pointed that out to the pharmacist, she exchanged it without even an explanation or apology. Hope they didn't just pass that one on to the next customer. They are dispensing medications that can harm people if they are not careful. I'm surprised they can continue to stay in business.
google avatar

Eurasia L.

Yelp
The cleanest and most organized Bartell I've been to. This is my usual stop for my beauty regimen. Yes, I said beauty and they provide tons of it here. I love coming here to look at beauty products from hair to skin, to make ups and vitamins, etc.--anything that involves self care can be found here in this one-stop shop. So much fun things to look at and just learn the ingredients of interests. The staff here will ask me once if I need help and then they let me be. I can be in here for a while just reading the back labels of whatever. I enjoy my time alone doing this. Might come across odd to some but it's relaxing and quite educational to just check out stuff and read about stuff that we've used in the past or stuff we're using now. It's very easy to find stuff in here and if lost for a moment, just ask a staff. They're very nice at this store. Yup!
google avatar

Tate B.

Yelp
I spend about 9-10 years in this pharmacy whenever I need something. The service is amazingly slow and somehow always confused about what needs to happen to fill my prescription. They're currently claiming there's a "computer glitch" that isn't allowing them to dispense my medication. Always frustrated whenever I use this place.

Anne B.

Yelp
The staff is fantastic but they need more help in the Pharmacy. It is always so busy and today there were 6 people in line behind me due to not enough staffing. I am slowly transferring my prescriptions to another pharmacy due to this and Bartell's needs to spend a little money and hire someone! As a 70 yr old Seattle native I grew up with Bartell's but boy the owners don't seem to care about the customers as they did in years past. Very disappointing.

Whitney H.

Yelp
This our neighborhood pharmacy and I love them. One of our favorite folks to see is Toy- she is patient and so kind.

Rachel E.

Yelp
I would give zero stars if it was an option. Most disorganized and haphazardly run pharmacy I've ever experienced. My medication was called in 9 hours prior to my arrival. It still was ready even though when I called earlier was told it would take less than an hour. I've now been waiting for 30 mins and keep getting told it will be 5 minutes more. Will never shop here or send medication here again. Worst pharmacy experience EVER.

Isabela E.

Yelp
The pharmacist is incredibly rude. They seem to have never heard of customer service. I have a respiratory infection and had a coughing fit while trying to fit my prescription and after telling the pharmacist this she told me to "try to calm down". I will be switching pharmacies after this incident.

Sabrina B.

Yelp
This place has gone down hill so fast since it was bought out by rite aid. They never have my prescriptions ready and the new pharmacist is extremely biased about young people on pain medication. She lied to me about speaking to my doctor and then refused to fill my prescription until my mom called and called her out. She then lied to her that she got a hold of my doctor which my doctor confirmed didn't happen. She said she was trying to protect her license but there was a signed note in there as well as his normal notes that said okay to fill early. Also the woman named Beth who works behind the counter at the pharmacy is so rude. She literally saw that there was a line of four people and just went and sat down. I had to go up and ask them if anyone was going to come help before she came back. She got scolded by another employee and then was so rude to me. Attaching the picture of the woman to avoid.

Norma M.

Yelp
OK, talked to Wanda, the manager, in person yesterday. If I was rating the store only on Wanda, it would be 5 stars. She could not have been more helpful - comped my pictures, gave me a gift card and most important to me, said, "You have my email. Don't give up on us. Contact me if you have any problems". Not THAT is service! I'm upgrading to 3 stars because A-OK is the best I can do for Bartells. But fair is fair, and Wanda earned them 2 more stars from me this week. Thanks, Wanda! You rock!
google avatar

Sheryll S.

Yelp
The drive-through pharmacy window is the slowest most poorly run drive-through window I have ever had the misfortune of going through. They see you, they walk around, they drink water, they walk around some more, and then they come to the window and help the person in the lane next to you, who came up after you, before even acknowledging you are there. They need to revisit who is working for them and how to work efficiently.
google avatar

Michele H.

Yelp
REALLY slow service. Went in to buy ONE item, got behind a guy with a really full cart of soup and drinks, and cashier moved slow as molasses ringing up each item, and he was the only employee in the store and the only open register. Took me 15 minutes in line, and I was second person in line. Store also has inadequate signage. Had to walk through whole store to find my item, and there was no one to ask.

Poppy P.

Yelp
After a terrible experience searching for garden supplies at home depot in Shoreline, Ironically and unexpectedly, I found everything I was looking for at Bartell's AND it was all on sale. The sales clerk, Caroline, was warm and friendly and actually helpful. I will shop Bartells again and again.

T Y.

Yelp
Their pharmacy section use to be super efficient, friendly and competent but since the change to CVC over two months ago, their service is terrible. They are always late, confused, and rude. I along with my family are going to switch to QFC next door and will be encouraging friends to do the same. They don't pick up the phone calls, nor are they helpful, or friendly.

Terri B.

Yelp
Horrendously poor pharmacy, slow - days waiting for refills- mistakes galore! Used to just be slow but now that rite aid bought it, it's terrible. Shelves are bare - looks like it's going out of business. Plus, they refuse to ask customers to wear masks, even tho governor has mandated. Not safe!
google avatar

Doug M.

Yelp
Prices for prescriptions and over the counter items are more than at other pharmacies. The pharmacy is just overwhelmed. The folks are nice but there seems to be just more business than this small location can handle efficiently. Sometimes I show up when prescriptions are supposed to be ready and then have to wait. There is usually a line of people waiting to pick up items at the pharmacy. It is just not pleasant to go here any more.

Leslie D.

Yelp
In case everyone isn't aware, Rite Aid took over Washington state based Bartell Drugs. What was once a nicely run drugstore (years ago), is now an absolute disaster. They have changed their prescription call in phone system and are taking as much as 3-4 days to fill a prescription. My advice would be to call them before you go to pick up your prescription. I am seriously thinking about moving my prescriptions to another pharmacy chain. So sorry to see this happen, and hope that this review is helpful.

Yelp
From what I can tell the head pharmacist or whoever is in charge of the back of the house of this place is the person responsible for it being such a horrible establishment. I usually go to Bartell because even though the family is obscenely rich at this point it's still a locally owned business. I was intending on going there for a Travel consult prior to my vacation. This was Wednesday, I had scheduled the appointment the previous Tuesday. as they were booked all but the one day in the two week time-frame. They had all my contact information and even emailed me the pre-trip questionnaire. The instructions in the email are as follows: Attached is a copy of the Travel Clinic Questionnaire for you to fill out. Please have this form filled out to the best of your knowledge before your scheduled travel appointment on 9-23/2016 at 2:30 pm. In order to ensure the most thorough recommendations for your travel destination, we require completion and return to us of your Travel Clinic Questionnaire at least 2 working days before your scheduled clinic appointment. Due to the high demand of our travel clinic services, failure to submit the travel clinic questionnaire on time can result in loss or reschedule of your appointment. Please include the following off of your RX insurance card or a copy of your card (front and back). End instructions. Ignore the 9/23 part, I had rescheduled the appointment almost right away when I found out I couldn't make 9/23 the only other day they were available was the Wednesday we scheduled for. I submitted the details 51 or so hours before our actual appointment time. This was almost two working days, still I hadn't received a phone call or a cancellation email or anything to let me know my appointment was moved. My wife had to take the day off work to make sure she could go with me and I had to leave work a little bit early to be there at the appropriate time. When we got there the woman in the pharmacy told us the pharmacist said that he wasn't expecting us and he never got my form back. I said, ok well I made the appointment over a week ago, can he see us anyway? She said, well, he says hes not expecting you and we don't have your form. I told him I emailed it back to him on Monday, the woman who was operating as the intermediary between us said it says on the form that you cant email it in. I said no, you guys emailed it to me why can't I email it back? I wish I could just upload the PDF here but I can't and copy and pasting put me over my word limit, so you'll have to trust me on this one. Spoilers, it doesn't say you cant email on it anywhere. So 5 1/2 weeks away from my vacation I wait almost a week and a half so I can go to my local drug store to be turned away without notice at the last minute. now I'm 4 weeks out from my vacation and have to make other plans. Here's the kicker, EVERY OTHER PHARMACY HAS WALK IN SAME DAY SERVICE. and I mean EVERY. Walgreen's has the best prices over rite aid and they don't charge you travel consult fees, but you have to know exactly what you need. If you don't know what you need go to the CDC webpage and search for the vaccines recommended, but whatever you do: DON'T GO TO BARTELL DRUGS.

Yelp
(Waving white flag): That's it I surrender. I've had my prescriptions filled here for almost 20 years, and the last two years have just been abysmal. Slow service as in hours and hours from the time the doctor sends it over and it's still sitting in a random bin and not filed, rude staff/pharmacists, and generally really poorly managed. Today, I went in and they'd had 6 hours to fill it. Not only did it take the tech several minutes to find, they didn't run it through my insurance like my doctor specifically noted on the Rx to make sure it was the "approved" brand meaning a less expensive option and when I asked to verify, the tech said "I don't know" and spun the printout around to me and asked if I knew what some random initials meant. Seriously. Then I asked her to check with a pharmacist, and when she did, the pharmacist looked over at me, shook her head and loudly said "she needs to call her insurance to find that out". Nope, that's your job and you had instructions plus 6 hours to do that. So I left without my medicine because they were apparently too busy and too important to DO THEIR JOB. Moving on to Walgreens. Do better, Bartells.

Trish R.

Yelp
I want to love this Bartells and have kept using the pharmacy, despite the annoyances and mistakes they have made over and over again. The good: Some of the staff and pharmacists are friendly and kind - others not so much but that's something that happens everywhere. The bad: This is the slowest pharmacy on Earth. Literally. If they say your prescription will be ready in 45 minutes, you should double it and still plan on waiting. They ignore what brand is written on your prescription - I have a couple of prescriptions that require a certain brand (I have adverse reactions to others), however, they repeatedly fill these with the brand I specifically cannot have. When they are called out on it, it becomes YOUR problem, not theirs for failing to note or write things in the file. They have also lost a couple of my prescriptions, which is terrifying. And other times, they have forgotten to fill refill requests - which then causes you to wait even longer for them to actually fill them. Like I said, I tried to give this place a chance (repeatedly) but am officially over it. I'm moving my stuff to QFC or Walgreens. Buh-bye Bartells.

Yelp
Had to stop in here when my foot decided it thought I was an athlete (get it?), even though I've actually been kinda lazy lately. I LOVE all Bartell's but couldn't believe they didn't carry the Reese's Peanut Butter Egg for Easter. You know, the one big one that comes individually wrapped. Weird. They do carry the Star Trek Pez collection though and for $10 bucks that may be worth a trip to Bartell's.

Yelp
This is not the Bartells I normally go to but 1 much closer to my physician's office. What a disaster of a pharmacy. Granted, I had an infection and was in a tremendous amount of discomfort, which is why I gave them 2 stars and not 1. The staff discussed breaks, lunch, personal activities and such all while having a huge line of customers. They said it would be 15 minutes. It was 35. The counter was in disarray. An RX that is covered by my insurance (because I have had it before this year), was rejected at this location for a much more expensive brand. When I questioned it, I was told I was wrong and asked to pay the pricier amount. I did. I got in my car and immediatlely called the pharmacist back, I knew it was wrong. The pharmacist in a round about way said that "I should know what brand to request for my insurance to cover" and I might want to remember that next time! If I hadn't been ill, I would have gone back in to the store and spoken with management. Shame on you. Thank goodness for the incredible staff at the Lake City Bartells; true professionals.

Yelp
Have had the worst service at this pharmacy. We moved to Edmonds in the fall and assumed we'd get the same service as we received at the Bartells in Green Lake. Wrong. 3 times in the past two months, we've gone to pick up our prescriptions and they were not ready, even though they were supposed to be according to the refill phone system. The last time I went to Bartells was on May 22nd when I went to pick up 4 sets of antibiotics (our entire family was exposed to whooping cough). Was the prescription ready an hour after my doc sent it in? No. Was the prescription ready when we went through the drive through 2 hours later? No. Did I have to haul 2 sick toddlers inside to pick up the prescription? Yes. Was it ready 5, 10, 15 minutes later? No. Did I have to ask the woman behind the counter to please stop walking away while I was trying to explain something to her? Yes. The pharmacist who finally gave me our prescription was nice and thorough. The rest of the staff inside the store was great. But honestly, after this latest debacle, I just can't go back.

Yelp
I moved to Edmonds and transferred my prescriptions to their pharmacy after receiving quality friendly customer service at the Snohomish and Stanwood Bartell pharmacies. However, I have repeatedly received rude poor customer service from one of their staff in Edmonds This last Friday I was stuck in their drive thru for over a half hour, finally maneuvered out of line. The same rude girl was there at the pharmacy. I told her that the line of cars was backed around the corner. She said nothing but..."last name." I work as a nurse at a clinic and am well aware how the pandemic has turned folks crazy but she should not be working is customer service. The person attempting to fill a prescription taking over 30 minutes could have been asked to pull around and the corner and the staff could come to their car to deliver their medication. One by one the other cars left the line, parked and walked in also. Not gonna kill us to go in to get our medication, but certainly defeats the purpose of a drive thru. I liked Bartells but not worth the stress. I transferred my prescriptions to another pharmacy.

Yelp
Bartells price for my prescription 25% less than Walgreens in the same area. Excellent service.

Yelp
I want to love bartells. I keep going back here because people are nice and its a locally owned company, but the pharmacy is ridiculously slow which is difficult of you are sick and/or have kids. Today is a prime example of almost every pick up I make. The med was sent over by the vet at 10 am. I knew it would take forever so I didnt go pick up until 3 pm. I get there and they said they needed an address and phone number and a few other things since it was our dogs first time getting meds there. Turns out they didn't start filling it until that info was provided. I waited 10 minutes and asked how much longer it would be. They said 15 minutes so I left for an hour and came back. When I came back the pharmacist was still working on it. This type of wait happens for most of the pharmacy pick ups I do. If you need to buy items in the store then you'll dig this place, but if you're looking for a pharmacy I recommend somewhere else.

Yelp
My least favorite pharmacy of all-time. You want the wrong prescription filled? Go here! You want them to lose the Doctor's fax? Go here! You want the grumpiest, most incompetent, least efficient, scattered-brain pharmacy staff? Bartels Pharmacy in Edmonds it is!
