Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Creative Cocktails at These Tampa Bay Hotspots | Eater

"Barterhouse sits in historic Ybor City, which 100 years ago was the capital of Cuban culture in the United States. Take a walking tour of the neighborhood and lean how Cuban immigrants shaped our city, including inventing the Cuban sandwich (take that, Miami!). Barterhouse’s design pays homage to the area’s cigar-making past, set in an industrial-yet-luxurious space serving a menu of spectacular Southern food. If you’re not up for a full dinner at the bar, you can still experience Ybor’s eclectic energy at the bar. Drink in the neighborhood’s history with a Big Guava: Zacapa No. 23 rum, guava espresso syrup, fermented tomato, ginger, and lime, garnished with a dried orange slice." - Vox Creative

Booked a reservation for date night and the vibes did not disappoint. Chris our server was very attentive and kind. The hostess was also so nice ! The Christmas setup is cute, one side is more festive then the other so if you’re there for the decor definitely ask to be sat on the left side. We had the clover festive drink (without the egg) and it was perfect. Pigs on a date and the tuna wonton for apps were so tasty. We had the catch of the day which was a great presentation but the taste was okay. Overall definitely recommend, the atmosphere and service was great. The kitchen was a little on the slow end so make sure you don’t come starving. It was a busy Saturday night though so we were understanding.

I can't help but share what a VIP experience I had at Barterhouse Ybor. I had just enjoyed the craft at Sky Puppy Brewing and asked the owner if I could go sit at the bar at Barterhouse in a t-shirt and jeans and they said it was casual...so I walked down the block to see if it was busy. The hostess (missed her name, great service!) asked if I had a reservation, which I didn't, or if I wanted to be seated at the bar. I asked if it was a full service bar (which she confirmed) and asked to see a menu. It had a curious diversity to it, and when I asked if the hostess had tried it, I felt she spoke truthfully that she loved the whole thing. Fortunately I was sitting for dinner early (6:30) and I could see there were plenty of tables still available in the house, so I asked if a table (pref to bar) was open for a walk-in. Briefly thereafter, I was seated at a low table just inside the bar sitting just above two plush blue club chairs (pictured). Tonight I wasn't in a hurry, and figured it'd be nice to recline. As of this evening (12/13), the Barterhouse Ybor is serving a holiday pre-fix: the "Famous Christmas Experience". Pick 4 from 4 (start/small/share/dessert) (pictured). The first three courses are a customizable mix of pastas and protein favorites mixed with highlighted chef specials. Being in a position to choose between the "shank" , "catch" and "steak" I asked my server about the size, kind, and cut. She said she would be happy to ask the chef... to which she did. And about 10 min later Russell Hanson came and sat down to talk from the other plush chair at the table. He welcomed questions about the menu. The halibut, the Picanha steak, and then the pasta... he spoke generously of his prep and pride in the dishes. By the time I inquired about his flour to egg ratio for the pasta (I like to make my own too) he had invited me to the kitchen to make some. We walked from the floor to the benches in the kitchen where the flour and dough were laid out. I offered to crank and he gladly accepted; and over about 4 -5 passes he reduced the thickness of the pasta only twice (which seemed thick to me at the time). With an egg wash, piping, and then folding he cut 6-7 pieces out of about a 14" dough. He moved to ask if wanted to order the dish, which I certainly accepted and went on to ask about dessert ("the of-course"). Happened to be the pastry chef was transferring components of her desserts from molds to trays at a station just next to us, so I asked her myself. Given the invitation to suggest her favorite composition she suggested the "Sticky Fingers" (also pictured). The other suggestion from the kitchen was to start with the "Pigs on a Date", which came out with a much more meaty exterior texture than a bacon wrap and were served with a microgreens salad and honey chili glaze. The steak came medium-rare as ordered. Not pictured was a roasted tomato w/bread crumbs - welcomed acidic compliment to the rich mushroom gravy. The pasta was simple with butter and sage. Chives to garnish. It's thickness (I critiqued in thought) gave it an "al dente" texture amid the soft piped filing, and more of a dumpling experience on the plate with the sauce. No complaints. The dessert showed an incredible amount of finesse; the shell cracked open like a white chocolate klondike bar surrounding a gourmet cake. It was delicious. Anyway, 10/10. Thank you to Russ and the whole staff, they were flawless tonight. I'd come back tomorrow and twice again every week...if I lived here. But I don't. So thanks for the memorable night when I had one night in town. I recommend to all. Walk around Ybor, eat at Barterhouse.

We visited Barterhouse during the Christmas pop-up and had such a fun night! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with twinkling lights, wrapped presents hanging from above, and beautifully decorated Christmas trees — it truly feels like a winter wonderland in the heart of Ybor. The holiday cocktails are creative and delicious, with super cute festive cups that instantly put you in the Christmas spirit! The food lived up to the hype too — shareable appetizers and elevated entrees that paired perfectly with cocktails. We loved the vibrant atmosphere and attentive service, which made the evening feel special. It’s a must visit holiday pop-up for a festive night! ✨ Highly recommended for a cute holiday date or a fun night with friends. Anyone who loves a good Christmas vibe with great eats and drinks! ✨

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a high energy, very sweet hostess. Too bad the vibe did not carry on through the dinner. The atmosphere was nice, but not as expected did not look like what was on the website. The menu was also different on the website versus at the restaurant. Everything is à la carte. The menu had very limited options shared seating, not much privacy. I’m glad I had the experience but will not return.

Nothing like they show online. They were out of almost everything including just a Pinot Grigio. The shrimp and grits were horrible, no grits at all. The server handed us a hand written list when we asked for just a red blend wine, the list had only one so she definitely could have just said that. The drinks looked nothing like they do online. So expensive for such a crappy experience and food. Never again.

Took the wife for her Birthday dinner thinking upsacle and classy. We did not get that here. No one was there at the front when we arrived with reservations. Only noticed us when we started looking around. Kinda has that lazy remodel feel with odd seating choices. Seems our server was kinda new and not well versed. Ordered the Masters pimento app and it really good on presentation and taste. Dinner come out and it didnt meet the standard for what we were paying for and expecting. The wife got 3 chicken tenders on some soupy mashed potatoes with gravy. Nothing special at all. The porkbelly and gnocchi I recieved was good but served on a plate with chipped edges. At that point, we just ate and left. Nothing good to remember for this Birthday sadly.

Just left there and my goodness i had such a amazing experience. This isn't first time there. I'm not sure if its new staff or what, but it was amazing. Waiter was so helpful and informative. I had a tasting menu and every dish was better than the last. Will def go back and recommend to everybody.

Tucked away in West Ibor, Barterhouse is a luxury experience for all to enjoy! An upscale experience with a touch of southern cuisine and hospitality always seems to find me! My bestie and I enjoyed, fried gnocchi with a gourmet house-made, tomato-based cream sauce, gnocchi and pork belly, short rib with mashed potatoes, gravy, and speciality cocktails for dessert! Perfect space for a Girls’ Night Out, a dinner with colleagues, or a quick bite alone; customer service is 10/10 to boot! I couldn’t be more thankful for such a warm, exquisite experience during my first visit to Tampa!

Yelp
Came here for Christmas drinks. There was an entire food and drink menu for Christmas. We shared a few appetizers: dates wrapped in bacon, agnolotti, and fried okra. Everything was incredible and good portion sizes to share with 2-3 friends. The staff was friendly and sat us immediately, even though we were a little early for our reservation. They went all out with the Christmas decor: inflatables, tinsel, a Christmas tree. Great spot to stop in for a festive experience.

Yelp
Summary - Would not recommend or ever go back. Expensive and overcooked food, lackluster service. Details - Have wanted to try this place for a while. Finally had the chance as I had tix to a show close by. Went into the bar, decorated nicely for Xmas. Even had fireplace and winter scenes on the TVs. From there, just went downhill. Bartender appeared drunk or under the influence of some narcotic. She was moving slowly and very deliberately, like when you know you're compromised and trying to play it off. We had to show her where the scotch was. She short poured our drinks and wandered off. Next was the food mishap. We ordered the Holiday Gnocchi (6 gnocchi ) and two smash burgers. The gnocchi arrived and it was the best part of dinner. Had a few pieces of pork belly on them and it was actually good. Then after about 25 more minutes, we got the burgers. The $21 each burgers were overcooked and cold at the same time. The "pickles" were slices of cucumber with no pickle taste. The "special sauce" was mayo. The cheese was cold and not even melted onto the burger, just peeled off like it was an afterthought. The burger tasted like it was dropped in a salt bin prior to cooking. Fries were unimpressive as well, also cold. Drinks were expensive, very poor selection of wine and beer. Just sooooo disappointing overall. Won't be going back.

Yelp
The perfect spot for a girls night if you're trying to sleigh into the holiday spirit! We all dressed up in Christmas colors and Santa hats and felt right at home under the magical decor tinsel, twinkling lights, oversized ornaments, the works! I had two cocktails one came in the cutest Santa mug (instant mood boost), and the Clover d'Hiver was pretty and delicious from the Christmas menu. Service was a little slow with checks and I never got the food I ordered but honestly, the vibes were so cute and cozy I didn't even stay mad. Great spot for a festive night out with friends or a cute holiday date night.

Yelp
We arrived early for a dinner reservation and were so happy there were only 2 people at the bar so the 4 of us could sit down and enjoy a drink together. The atmosphere was super festive and we were looking forward to our evening. The bartender was friendly and took our drink order. We waited an extremely long time and his excuse was he had to climb up to get a bottle of Grey Goose. After waiting so long he still forgot the one drink which we thought was what took so long, an old fashioned. The two other customers got an additional drink while we were waiting. We were 15 minutes late for our reservation, which didn't matter because there were only 2 tables of patrons. Our server in training came by and dropped off paper Christmas menus and brought us water. Then we waited and waited and finally our sever arrived. We asked for the menu and she said the only thing they had was this special Christmas menu, which was basically all appetizers. This is NOT what we planned when making reservations weeks ago. So disappointing! We ended up leaving and having dinner elsewhere.

Yelp
Under new management I would out experience wasn't bad . However, we personally didn't enjoy our food . Our friends enjoy the smash burger. One of new Manager allowed our group to try this Strawberry cocktail w/ Egg yolk .5/5 Selection: Shrimp & Grits 2/5 Shrimp was cook perfectly not over cook . Sausage gravy was a just weird and sweet supposed to have caribbean flavor nothing was caribbean flare . The ambiance is very nice and I will say everything in the restaurant looks really clean.

Yelp
Went there for the second time to give it another chance after dining there when it first opened. The first time a couple years ago was meh food and poor service, but we wanted to give it another try. The second experience was unreal. It was Saturday night and we arrived just when they opened but they were out of everything and the AC was not working. They showed us the regular menu but they did not actually have any of the items. All they had were burgers and "loaded fries" with questionable toppings such as old bacon slices and a pinch of grated parmesan cheese. The burgers took forever to cook, were overcooked although ordered rare, and had no toppings. This was a normal Saturday night, September 2025 with nothing special going on in Ybor. The staff acted as though the shortages were a normal occurrence at the restaurant. With so many nice restaurants within blocks I don't see how they are still in business.

Yelp
Food was amazing . You have to get the pigs on a date if they still have them . The service was great and our waitress was super friendly . The chef came over and checked in . They are decorated so cute for Christmas right now. Perfect date night venue or girls night out.

Yelp
Well I really felt compelled to write this review because it truly needed to be done. Now me and my family seen and heard of this restaurant however we weren't prepared for the wonderful surprise we had once we finally went. Let's start with the ambiance and whole vibe in there was great! Then we were met a superb server whose name was Ashley. She was very nice on the eyes and very friendly, attentive, and most importantly knowledgeable about her craft!! The best part was her energy and enthusiasm it was truly contagious which left not only feeling good but left wanting more! Last but not least food and drinks were spot on! Hats off to the Chef!

Yelp
Barterhouse Ybor is an Inventive American Cuisine Come in and enjoy a welcoming atmosphere like no other and see why this place is a favorite from the locals. Restaurant where imaginative craft cocktails are the stars of this elevated-yet-cozy bar and eatery. Located just steps from the 8th Avenue trolley in Historic Ybor, Barterhouse is home to well curated plates and a fancy feeling of nostalgia. their guest, you'll be met with a warm dining room emphasized by an open chef's kitchen, fashioned to delight and inspire. My wife and i had the pleasure to try their Southern Savor Tasting and Pairing Experience. One word: Phenomenal. An Enjoyable experience with the Chef and Host. Very soon open to the Public for the Locals to experience . Stay Tune. Afterwards I encourage you to lounge at their speakeasy-inspired bar, stocked with local brews, fine wine by the glass and classic 1940's libations with a modern twist. You can't go wrong visiting BarterHouse in Ybor City. Come in and Enjoy . What we had: 1) Southern Gold Shrimp- the Alabama White Sauce made this plate exquisite 2) Pork Secreto- Tender and Savory Pork with Chorizo and Bacon pickled raisins. Dirty Rice makes it a great combination. 3) Butter Porched Catch- the Chimichurri with Califlour Puree made the fish delicious. 4) Tommy's Farm Steak- Tender steak mixed with peppercorn sauce is a go-to . 5) Out of the drinks- the Rosalita and Diara Chardonnay were our favorites.

Yelp
If you're here for the Christmas vibes, you'll be happier than Buddy the Elf in a snow globe. The place is decked out like a holiday dream -- twinkling lights, festive decor, and all the cozy cheer. On the ambience scale, I'm giving it a solid 5/5. You'll feel merry just sitting there. The food, however, didn't quite deliver the same sparkle. I ordered the hush puppies stuffed with duck picadillo, which sounded fancy and exciting. Turns out, they were more "cheese with a whisper of duck" than anything else. The rest of the menu? Limited and pricier than Santa's gift list. Service was slow -- surprisingly so, given that there were more empty seats than occupied ones. The server was polite, though, so points for that. And now for the real kicker: no happy hour. Their website cheerfully promised it from 4:30 to 6:30, but when I asked, I was told it was "because of Christmas time." I didn't realize festive decor had the power to cancel out discounted drinks! So apparently, holiday cheer = no happy hour.

Yelp
This is a beautiful restaurant on 8th and 15th Street in Ybor City, Tampa. (You can take a free trolley ride and get off at 15th St., then walk right across the street to the restaurant- that's a fun and different thing to do in Tampa). I always love their Le Smash- one of the tastiest burgers in town. Burrata is also one of my favorites!!, and they serve it with freshly made Naan bread- hot from the oven. Their steaks are also some of the best around town and they usually have different cuts of meat for you to choose. The food is very creative, and always a beautiful presentation. Their bartenders are great and have some really cool, fun craft cocktails. Their beer list isn't the best, but they do have wine and champagne also. For the past couple years, they have started doing a Christmas pop-up- called the Blitz Inn- is starting, possibly this week (Nov 6, 2024) Their decor is so fun and Christmassy and serve specialty cocktails in Christmas mugs!! So fun... Definitely go to Ybor city and check out this gem.

Yelp
The place is very nice I love the concept of being able to see the kitchen, very modern. The food and service was absolutely delicious! We had the catch of the day, black grouper & the steak. We had the fried gnocchi as an appetizer and the burnt cheesecake for dessert.

Yelp
My party of 4 arrived on a Sunday evening and we were seated immediately. I initially made reservations online but honestly didn't need them. We were the only ones dining in that evening and had the restaurant to ourselves until closing! The service was honestly average at best, the drinks were great, but the food was seriously lacking. The menu consists of a few appetizers, a soup of the day, a salad, about 7 savory main courses, and 2 desserts (*the menu listed on their website is completely different from what's offered in house). We skipped the appetizer portion and ordered a couple of main courses; The catch of the day, 2 kids meals, and the "No Secret" fried chicken. While writing this review, I noticed that we should've recieved a soup or a salad with our entree but were never offered that option. The kids fries came out first which was fine with me as it kept the kids occupied for a while. The rest of the dishes came about 15 minutes later. The kids enjoyed their meals but the adults, not so much. My fried chicken dish was nothing more than extremely salty fried chicken tenders placed on top of basic mashed potatoes with average tasting brown gravy and sprinkled with a few micro greens on top as a garnish. Aside from the saltiness of the dish, it also need a vegetable to go along with it to make it feel complete. My husband's Catch of the Day was ok. He stated that it wasn't enough food and still felt hungry afterwards. Luckily the menu seems to rotate seasonally so there's a chance that if I decide to come back, I may have a better experience. On a good note, the ambiance was very nice and felt intimate, absolutely perfect for a date night and a few pictures.

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a Saturday night as the dinner before a bachelorette night out. We were immediately greeted and sat. The manager came over to greet us as well and he went over to every table. Our waitress was amazingly attentive and sweet. The service was perfect attentive but not over baring and the drinks and food came out with enough time to not feel rushed. We came at the end of the night and the kitchen was so nice about there being an issue with not enough gnocchi but quickly fixed it without any issue. The restaurant felt intimate but not small and was beautifully lit and decorated! It is a perfect date spot for sure! The menu clearly rotates by season and that is very exciting and will keep me coming back! The oxtail gnocchi was delicious! It was flavorful and the portion was enough to be filling but not too much! We also enjoyed the cornbread with the guava mousse and bourbon butter! Yummy I would come back just for the app! The hazelnut cheesecake was so yummy. Overall we decided we would definitely be back again as it was an amazing start to the evening!

Yelp
Wow!! The food was incredible!!! We ordered a variety of dishes to share & every bite was so exquisite like nothing else I've ever had. From the soft buttery corn bread, Brussels salad with cherries on top, shishito peppers with sausage, gnocchi with oxtail... YUM! Our waitress was very informative & attentive. The menu was like nothing else I've ever seen so we had a lot of questions & she was very detailed on menu items. The interior is very romantic, I literally felt like I was in another country I love it!

Yelp
Had such an excellent time here! Great cocktails and even better food! Flavor combos really take it to the next level. Will 100% be back here! Gorgeous bar. Hazelnut cheesecake not pictured. Ate too quickly!!

Yelp
Came for the Christmas in July pop up and as a big Christmas gal myself, it did not disappoint! The drinks were delicious and the bartender (never got his name but he's got a great beard) was super knowledgeable about cocktails in general. Got the milk bread as an appetizer and it was also solid. The decor was on point, although I will say the area to the left when you walk in is quite a bit more decorated so we made sure to get there early to snag that side. Hoping to make it back in December when they do the full pop up

Yelp
Stopped in on a whim to give it a shot. Wanted a table but they were all reserved so we went to the bar. I didn't see much on the food menu that was really appealing other than the Le Smash burger. We stuck with just the drinks for this trip. The old fashioned was strong and very flavorful with cinnamon. The egg nog was more of my speed as it wasn't as strong a drink as the old fashioned. The bartender was really genuine and helpful. Nice ambiance with the Christmas theme. Give The Barterhouse a shot if ever in Ybor!

Yelp
This place is chic! The inside decor is very cool and eclectic. Definitely somewhere you'd want to dress nicely to. We sat at the bar for a cute little girls night dinner and our bartender was amazing. He gave us great recommendations on the drinks and menu. Menu wise, I really enjoyed our appetizers. The charred brussels were delicious and really had that smoky flavor and the bacon wrapped dates I would definitely go back for. I personally got the caccio e Pepe with the blackened chicken and I wasn't a fan. I felt that the pasta needed more sauce and the chicken was pretty dry, so I'd recommend something different from the menu. My friends loved the burger and I did get to try the guava bbq sauce from the pork shank and it was delicious. The meat also fell off the bone for the pork shank so I'd go back and order that instead! When we visited, they had a cream cheese martini of some sort that I 10/10 recommend. Overall great experience!

Yelp
I wanted to update my review because we came in again for the holidays. Food was still great, maybe even better this year. However, we got seated at the table right next to the server station area and the kitchen. The servers were congregating in that area, obviously doing their job, but the seat is right next to that open area, so I felt like I had people hovering near me while I ate and we could hear all of their staff conversations. My suggestion is go in a bigger group because our experience with the two person tables are not great.

Yelp
Amazing service, the bartender Mimi served me a great experience. The chef was impeccable with the smash burger and truffle fries. And the manager Allwell was more than helpful getting an understanding of the place and surrounding area. High recommend this place due to the atmosphere and the ambiance. Don't get me started on the truffle fries. Compliments to the chef!!!

Yelp
Decided to retry this restaurant for my husband's birthday. I initially tried Barterhouse for Valentine's and honestly it was not worth it. The lobster tail and wagyu steak meal for two was poorly executed and truly a meal for one..my advice, DON'T do the Valentine's Day meal for two. Now this experience, I went on a Friday night, Feb 2024 and was immediately seated. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, the deviled eggs, the braised short rib and the pork shank. The braised short rib and the pork shank were definitely the stars...tender, fall off the bone and flavorful. The deviled eggs was deviled eggs but the candied bacon elevated it. Peaches and Abby, our servers were wonderful. You can't help but match their positive energy. They made the experience way better than Valentine's Day in 2022.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and each time has been fantastic! The ambience is alive and is filled with an energetic beat that awakens your senses. It's very ornate and beautifully decorated . Know that it's loud !!! Service has been attentive. They switch up the menu frequently and they keep it tight, which I like. The offerings are creative and something to please all . If you are counting on something I'd suggest calling to see if it made the evening cut. Some highlights for us have been the octopus, crab chilau, short rib, brussels, snapper and bourbon crème brûlée . We have always loved our meals. My only complaint is that each time we've been there the women's restroom has been a disaster. Hopefully they're keeping up with it now .

Yelp
I visited Barterhouse during their "Christmas in July" event. The holiday-themed drinks were delightful! Don't miss the Deviled Crab Dumplings! Kevin and Scooby at the bar were exceptionally friendly and made me feel very welcome.

Yelp
Apparently we weren't the only ones that had a bad service experience last night--the big party they had there complained too on google! https://g.co/kgs/aiGZTbd Unfortunately, had a bad experience at Barterhouse Ybor. They booked the restaurant for a private party over our reservation we made over a week ago. I told the owner we could leave because I didn't want to be an inconvenience but he did try to accommodate us--nevertheless the server was definitely not giving us a good vibe...not even a smile, and when we said we were leaving he clapped. Peaches was not peachy keen we were there and that confirmed it. Well, I wish we could have loved celebrating our birthday and enjoyed the food there, but not tonight I suppose and maybe not ever again.

Yelp
Run don't walk to Barterhouse to enjoy the CHEF ESTEBAN CHACON SUMMER 2024 menu. I had a dish off this menu and it was AMAZING! I ordered the XL Ravioles as recommended by our server and I'm happy I did because this is the best meal I've had in 2024! I will definitely be going back to enjoy this dish again because that's how amazing it was! The service was a little slow on this particular evening but I still gave them 5 stars because this meal made up for it! They had the Christmas in July theme going on in the restaurant but unfortunately we were seated on the side that was not decorated. I wish they decorated all over and not just on the bar side of the restaurant. Anyways Christmas decor or not this dish is phenomenal and if you haven't gone yet for the summer menu get in there before it's too late!

Yelp
My friends and I went here for brunch during the Christmas season. We loved the ambiance with all the beautiful Christmas decor! It definitely put us in the Christmas spirit. Our waitress was top tier! She answered any questions we had about the menu since it was our first time there. Her recommendations were definitely a hit. We started with the fresh biscuit board. It came with yummy thick and fluffy biscuits, which were baked perfectly. They came with an amazing butter and preserves to enjoy with it. We had to order a second round. Moving on to the meals, I had Shrimp and Grits (no chorizo) with a side of home fries. One of the best shrimp and grits I've had at brunch. My friends had the Smoked Salmon Tartine and Short Rib Hash. They really enjoyed their meal as well. I'd love to go back to check out their dinner.

Yelp
Came here for an intimate dinner for 2 on a Thursday night. We sat on the opposite side of the bar & lounge and had that entire side to ourselves. Our waitress, Stella, took time to explain the new menu by Chef Esteban Chacon. She even shared photos of some of the food items we inquired about which was extremely helpful. In my opinion, the Oxtail & Bone Marrow pictured was tasty but dry. The Tempura Elote that came with it was good. My dinner date had the Fresh Catch (not pictured) The Catch of the Day can change due to availability; Thursday night was Snapper. Mocktails are available upon request. The 10 hour braise Tomohawk Short Rib and Mushroom Risotto with Miatake Mushrooms was absolutely heavenly! No Take Home baggies for us.

Yelp
Came here after seeing multiple Instagram reels about the holiday decor/drinks. Come here for the drinks and definitely skip the food. I cannot tell you the names of the drinks because they ran out of menus to provide for us, so we went solely off of the waitresses suggestions. However, the green one had mint in it and was delicious. The other was an eggnog drink that was equally phenomenal. Each dish we tried tasted like it was created by a child who had unlimited kitchen supplies. Cheese wiz dip with chorizo was OK in itself, but came with a crumbly sweet bread that was not great for dipping. The rice dish with meat was quite watery, and the arugula did not match the flavor palette in my opinion. Would return for drinks and fun decor only.

Yelp
The ambiance of Barterhouse is like no other in Ybor currently. They have a Spring pop up going on right now. Unfortunately, we stopped by close to closing time Friday evening (around 10p) so the kitchen was no longer serving food. We will be back for a planned brunch next week so I'm super stoked to try their infamous brunch menu and bar bites. If you enjoy a unique variety of restaurant themed decor this is the place to go. Must see my photos- Fairytale like garden decor and even gnomes to boot! What an idea.

Yelp
Overall a very nice night out with my love. We started with cocktails (obviously) and the grilled octopus which was tender. Not the best in town but still very good. I ordered the panzanella salad and hubs had the baby lettuce. We ordered a bottle of very well priced Chardonnay from Russian River Valley (which you can never go wrong) to accompany our entrees. I ordered the pasta special (lobster lemon pasta) and he had the pork shark. Mine was pretty perfect but his was over salted and the meat was actually overcooked and a little mushy. We had crème brûlée and olive oil cake for dessert. We had a very pleasant evening. This is a very good restaurant - charming environment and good food. Our server was average. She didn't do anything to elevate the experience yet didn't ruin it either. We will eat here again.

Yelp
We went to the Barterhouse to celebrate our five year anniversary. I really wanted to love this restaurant, however, I didn't it's nice and the pop-up that they have next to the bar is really cute. The other side of the wall is just kind of plain. There is only one bathroom for women, and it wasn't decorated as nice as the restaurant. Everything worked, and it was clean. We did have to wait a few minutes when we walked in to be greeted and for the hostess to take us to our table service with good she was attentive. I ordered the brussels sprouts and roasted chicken, and he ordered the spare ribs. We also ordered cocktails. Like the restaurant, I really wanted to love the brussels sprouts, but didn't they were just way too salty. I didn't eat that much and let the waitress know. It was just too salty, but still charged us for them The roasted chicken, was it good it was in some type of purée that was interesting, and had a good taste. He said that the short ribs was good and it looks like they were served over cheesy grits? It was good though. We did pay $9 for three rolls of bread, the bread was good, but $9? they served some type of olive oil, seaweed with them. It was actually pretty good. The cocktail I had, me, and my gnomies was really good. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. It wasn't the experience I was hoping for. And I cannot see if the restaurant did anything bad, it just didn't live up to my expectations. It was actually better than three stars but I had a hard time giving it four. You should try it, try to get a table in the pop up by the bar. That side seemed like the side to be on.

Yelp
Sometimes you wanna just stand on a rooftop and scream "this place has the best burger that I have ever eaten". And honestly, the Barterhouse burger, that you can only get at the bar, is a top one or two burger that I've ever had, and I've eaten a lot of burgers! This burger is so simple, yet so flavorful, double smash patty, burger on the most perfect bun, with special sauce, cheese, and some pickles. If you just look at the picture, it radiates like it's a holy food I can't give you higher recommendations.

Yelp
Food and ambiance is always on point. The bartender came off as a bit rude due to stress, but service was still quick

Yelp
Went to Barterhouse Ybor tonight. What a great restaurant. My wife and I highly recommend it. Literally, everything we had was great. We started with the bacon wrapped figs and pimento cheese and biscuits. Both were fantastic. (side note to the restaurant, I could not remember the exact name of the dishes, but your online menu is not up to date, so I could not quote the actual menu items). Regardless of names, they were great. My main was a pork shank with white bean and salad. It was fantastic. The white bean and salad base had just enough acid to offset the roasted pork shank. Highly recommended. My wife had the burger and fries. Again, can't remember what exactly the name of this dish was, but she loved it. She said probably the best burger she has ever had. We finished with a donut and ricotta cheese desert. Fantastic. I will also say we had wine and a martini to start, and both were great. The restaurant is really great. Atmosphere and decor. Really loved it. We will be certainly be back! We live here in Tampa and will be adding this one to our regular spots. I would highly recommend as a Tampa local.

Yelp
The building is very nondescript on the outside, and easy to overlook, but inside it is large and nicely decorated, with the main bar on one side, and the restaurant on the other. There is street parking nearby (no longer free) and a pay parking lot catty-corner from the restaurant. Our party of 5 had reservations for brunch, and our table was ready when we arrived. The server was friendly and efficient, and even though it looked like she was serving half the restaurant, she still managed to come to our table frequently. The brunch menu was small, but had an excellent selection and I was torn between a couple of items. I finally went with the smoked salmon tartine, and it was an excellent choice. Served unlike any tartine I've ever had, it was a thick slice of bread, topped with a generous portion of salmon, and egg, cheese, and capers. Wow, was this good! The combination of flavors was perfect together. The side order of chorizo was also delicious. I will caution you to the fact that the main food took some time to come out of the kitchen, although the deviled egg appetizers appeared relatively quickly. Don't go here hangry! I had a mimosa to drink, and while nothing special, it was fine. 20% gratuity was automatically added on to our party of five, so make sure you check your receipt. I would definitely come back here for brunch, and a friend told me they have great happy hour specials, so I can't wait to try that too.

Yelp
Had the perfect post-Gasparilla dinner here! The staff was incredible and the food was delicious. Get Alana as your server and Chuck as your bartender and you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Drinks are great. Typical elevated American fare, nothing too out of the ordinary. My group liked everything but not sure if we would come back for a full meal, definitely would be back for a the burger or cocktails on a night out.

Yelp
The ambience here is romantic and stylish. We made a reservation in the dining room for an early weekend dinner. The food was perhaps a little underwhelming for the price point but seasoned and present well. Most of the items we ordered had a sweet component to it, something we generally stray away from. Although I generally don't care for cliche dishes, the Florida fresh catch entree with fried brussels and bacon stood out; also the panzanella, which will really shine once we enter tomato season. Service was a little slow and somewhat unprofessional, as we saw a group of staff members huddled around the POS while someone was braiding another person's hair. Other things to notes: the liquor menu has no $$ listed, so you must ask the server about prices. Happy hour generally advertised on the website is very clearly stated on the menu as only offered in the bar.

Yelp
Bad waitress/ bartender. Was rude twice in two days. Don't even bother to stay. Took the whole experience of the holiday out of it.

Yelp
Came in town for the weekend and decided to check out Blitz Bar. Absolutely loved the holiday ambiance and cheerful drinks. The bartenders however, had zero personality, didn't acknowledge us for five mins. Seemed annoyed. No holiday cheer whatsoever. We couldn't leave fast enough. It was a holiday downer.

Yelp
I've been to Barterhouse once and I really enjoyed it -- I just wanted MORE! Very cute spot conveniently located in Ybor. We had great service and were warmly welcomed. Oh, and we loved the decor! My only real issue is that I felt that the drink menu was extremely limited. I wanted more unique craft cocktails to match the vibe. We ate several things on the menu and thought all of the food was fabulous. I just wanted MORE. I hope to visit Barterhouse again and I really hope that they add some new things because it's a great little spot with a lot of staying potential.

Yelp
This restaurant came highly recommended by a fellow Yelp Elite so expectations were high. My wife reserved a table for the two of us for my birthday. Upon entering I was blown away by the beautiful decor and interior design, the place was buzzing with energy and if the food was anything like the vibe, we were for a treat... but unfortunately not. Firstly, the menu on their website did not reflect the actual pricing in-person. No biggie, must have been updated very recently then. Let's start with the bread, for $9 it's simply not worth it. I would expect this caliber of bread to be complimentary. The bread was warm (reheated in the oven), it did not taste freshly made and the seaweed butter was lack luster. The half dozen oysters arrived really small for little over $4 per oyster which I can overlook, I'm here to spend a ton of money on great food. The oysters tasted very bitter, I'm not sure if it was the ginger mignonette but the bitterness overpowered the fresh, ocean-like flavors oysters naturally have. The scallops were amazing! Balance of umami flavors and the sweetness from the picked raisins and sweet potatoes purée worked together well, but with the price point of around $36 the scallops were inconsistent in size the smallest I've had compared to other high-end restaurants at a similar price point. The pork shank came highly recommended so we had to try it. I'm not sure what others have experience but this was not good at all. It was too salty and the tamarind was waaaaay too overpowering, I had to wash each bite down with a gulp of water. The salad it came with kinda cut through the heaviness but was not enough. There's an understanding when it comes to a plate of food. You should be able to enjoy each component your plate separately and when eaten together, it should be an adventure on your tongue. I'll say this, we went to Taverna Costale two days after Barterhouse and ordered the pork shank as well, it was phenomenal. You should take note of the balance of flavor profiles that work with your menu. KISS, keep it simple stupid. Why 1-star instead of 2-stars you may ask. When people go to a restaurant expecting to dish out an average of $30+ per entree, there's an expectation from the moment you enter the door. Understand that not everyone is fortunate enough to eat there so when they do, the overall experience should be enjoyable. Our server checked in on us once, excluding the introduction and checking out. She made no effort to clear our table and ask us how our meal was. Chick-fil-A has better service in the drive-thru. The 1-star is really for the post-experience. When we checked our bank statement, the restaurant charged more than what we wrote on the receipt. Not possible to misread the handwriting, it clear. Funny thing is, we took a photo of the receipt just in case.

Yelp
Really nice place. Made reservation few days before for Friday night. They had few big groups around, so I assume they accept big groups if. You are interested. There is a big parking across the street but you have to pay. Decor is gorgeous. Very modern and unique. Menu is pretty small which is good and bad. We love getting a salad to start but they only had salads with cheese. We had octopus to start that was great but did have bacon around. I don't eat bacon but ok eating food cooked with it at the restaurant. But anyone with strict no bacon flavor might have an issue finding a dish that would not have bacon. They add bacon in pretty much everything. For main I had crab spaghetti and was very good. My husband had fresh catch and it was very well cooked. Brussel sprouts also had bacon in it.. So I would say food is on a heavier side mostly due to everything containing bacon. We had a mocktail and it was just ok. I wouldn't recommend mocktail at their place unless you absolutely have to. We were pretty full so didn't have a dessert. Service was ok. Not amazing but not bad. Overal I would say 4.5 starts. Would be happy to see few more dishes with no bacon and better mocktail option.

Yelp
This was such a let down Keep in mind the Bar menu is separate from the dinner menu and they do NOT allow ordering from the Bar menu in the main restaurant area. If they did the review might have been different. Heard it's because the Bar menu is half the price of the dinner entrees. Ambiance is really nice Service is on point Unfortunately that's it! We ordered the - "Two pigs on a Date" it was tasty but the center was either cold or like warm. Would have been better if it was actually hot My friends ordered the short ribs - the short ribs somewhat moist but dry for short ribs. The taste was just bland, the polenta mash were extremely salty. It was somewhat edible together. I got the Florida Fresh Catch which was black grouper. The fish was so over cooked it was like chewing rubber. It came with cauliflower puree with brussels & bacon. Couldn't taste the bacon and the brussels were basically burnt leaves. For dessert we got the bourbon creme brulee. It was tasty but it super sweet and very dense. Luckily we shared, it's so sweet doubt anyone can eat it themselves. If I go back and that's a big if, it will be only for drinks and at the bar. Heard their burgers are "supposed" to be good.
