Bartlett Hall

Stopped in for an early dinner on a Monday. Found a spot at bar. Service was friendly and helpful. Had a couple flights of their beers, which were excellent. The fish and chips were also very good. The fish was nice and flaky while the beer batter was light and crisp. Overall would recommend stopping in, can't go wrong with the beer and food menu options.

Great beer and decent food. On a Sunday evening it was pretty hopping but not too bad. Certainly a good place for a pint when you want it.

I was torn between 3 or 4 stars, but the waitress ruined my first experience. We ordered fries to share, cocktails, a Brussels and squash pizza and a burger with bacon. I loved the vibe and the atmosphere of the restaurant, especially after a day of shopping, in which it is conveniently located. The waitress seemed annoyed from the start. She had a snide remark regarding the cocktail I ordered. The burger came out without bacon, and she seemed less than apologetic. She offered to bring it on the side, but the burger had been half eaten at the point we could finally grab her attention to come over. The pizza was tasty, but the puréed squash was off putting. The texture tasted as if I was eating baby food. It would have been nice if it was slightly lumpy so it had more texture. The fries were simply delicious and devoured in no time. Cocktails were nothing to write home about. Once the meal was complete, the waitress seemed to be MIA for a good 15-20 min., in order for us to get the check. As an SF local, it's doubtful we'll be back. It was way over priced for the food/drinks/service received. Which is a shame, because I could definitely go for some more fries.

The one star is for the beer, which wasn’t terrible. The same can’t be said for the food, service, or atmosphere, however. Ordering beer or food must be done online with the patron’s own phone. Despite the lack of a wait staff, a mandatory 20 percent gratuity must be paid, along with multiple other surcharges, before the order will go through. We both ordered the fish and chips. Though priced at well over twenty dollars, the plate consisted of two pitifully small chunks of breaded fish. No malt vinegar was offered, which might have made the overcooked, chewy meat somewhat edible. The restaurant is completely unheated, so the fish and fries were cold within two minutes of being brought over. Overall, I’d recommend staying away. There are far too many other fine breweries and bars in the city with much better service.

The beer and location are fantastic. The acting bartender argued with me that I ordered a short beer when I absolutely ordered a tall. Instead of just getting me a tall and charging me for it….he argued. It wasn’t an argument. I’m the customer and I wanted a full beer not a shot glass of beer. English was NOT his first language..:I was half minded to argue back in his language since I speak Spanish pretty well.

We had no clue where we were going. We simply got to our hotel and needed someplace to eat. What we got in Bartlett Hall was awesome! The server was awesome. She loved the food and drinks and it just made everything better. We had some really great beers, including a “hot poke” that was more fun than anything. Check this place out.

AMAZING!! Drove into the City for a company event. Found Bartlett Hall while walking around…and how fortunate for us! Ordered Classic Burger & Bartlett Burger. Both were incredible!! Fresh, juicy, perfect!! Bartenders & waitstaff are incredible! It’s crazy busy in here (SantaCon) and the staff are warm, friendly, and really efficient! Everything is excellent! Beers are delicious, too.

All I can say is that Abdi and his coworkers are the best. Good drinks. Quick, kind service. And to top it off, fun(my). Their recommendations were actually good and tasty! I would recommend the The Paloma. It actually taste like a Paloma. 🙃

Enjoyed an early dinner with colleagues after attending a conference near by. We reserved a table in advance and got a quiet space in the corner of the restaurant which was nice. We started with calamari to share which was delicious but a small portion. For my entree I had the crab roll which was a special for the day. It was light and fresh, I really enjoyed it. One of my colleagues burgers came very underdone which they corrected on the bill which was a nice gesture. Overall a nice stop to grab a drink and some food.

The server stopped by and paused her phone call at the table to greet us. She came back 5 minutes later, still talking on the phone, to take our order. The music was cranked up so loud we could barely hear her. Another customer shot across the room to pay as seems to have been waiting a long time. We ordered and she went back on the phone and worked a laptop sitting on the counter. She poured my beer and left it sitting there for a solid 10 minutes while she played on the phone and laptop. We tried to flag her down but she didn't notice us. Since we were approaching 15 minutes of my beer sitting there and nothing else was moving in our direction, we left. The loud music was very overwhelming and the inattentive service was distracting. Maybe their porter is good. I wouldn't know, and I was looking forward to it. The clocks are cool.

This is a great little bar with neat decor. The menu, ordering and paying are all done via QR code cubes on the table and your smart phone. The servers bring you a decanter of water, glasses silverware and your food. The food was great. They do automatically add 18% gratuity so be aware of that, in case you are thinking you could give less since everything is done on your phone.

This is a solid happy hour place in downtown SF! Great value, great beers and wines, great bar bites, and great service! Bartlett Hall is conveniently located near Union Square and offers a welcoming and classy yet rustic atmosphere. I have enjoyed their happy hour special a few times now- haven't tried their regular menu yet. My favorites off the happy hour menu are the pepperoni flatbread and California wines! Service is always friendly and prompt; the bar/hall is clean and comfortable, and I always leave happy!

While on a business trip, I had the pleasure of dining here for dinner. It was so good I came back a second time (twice in four days). I liked everything about BH from the ambiance to the service to the cleanliness to the food. I ate at the very large bar both nights, and my bartender, Bruno, was excellent at his job. On two nights, I had the grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad and the shrimp po boy. Both were excellent and tasted fresh and flavorful. It is evident that they have real bartenders who care about the drinks they make. Well done! I enjoyed the Perfect King, but my favorite was the Pineapple Express.

I've been here several times, even during busy days like the Super Bowl, and I've always been impressed. The bartenders are top-notch, handling the crowds with ease while still delivering great service. With plenty of TVs scattered around, you'll never miss a moment of the action. Plus, the food menu is decent and they have a good beer selection -- offering something for everyone. If you're in the Union Square area and craving a drink, this is the spot to hit up.

Not a bad place to hit after a long day of work. The "hourly" crew and I decided to celebrate one of our own's birthday and it wasn't a bad thing. We were able to get a table for 6-7 easily. We ordered food from their QR codes and the food came out in 10 mins or less. Pretty impressive for a bar. The service was prompt and the tea was very attentive to refilling our drinks and clearing plates. Would definitely come back again especially in the summer when we can all get together and enjoy over our shared trauma.

Awesome happy hour menu/prices. It was quiet the day we were in, and the oven was not working so no pizza/flatbreads, but the bartender, Juan, was awesome. Seems like a good hang out place, and it was around the corner from our hotel. Definitely on the list to visit again.

Bartlett Hall was a quick walk from our hotel (Hilton Union Square) on our most recent trip to San Francisco, so it was a very convenient last-minute place for dinner. There was plenty of room inside and we were seated immediately. They use Toast Tab for ordering so it was easy to browse the menu and order food and drinks easily. My wife got a spicy shrimp dish that she really enjoyed and I had the buffalo cauliflower, which was also quite tasty (both were pretty spicy). We had some cocktails as well and they were very good, but their beer was just so so and I wouldn't get their beer again. It was a solid gastropub and we enjoyed our meal here.

I was staying at the hotel next door and saw the happy hour specials. We hung out by the fire with a cheese pizza. I had two cocktails, and the tab after tip was still only $30!

Great spot to take a break from union square or shopping! There were plenty of TVs to watch a game or two. We really enjoyed their house beer. Nice & tasty.

Awesome happy hour 3-5! Amazing wings and $5 house beers (great selection). The Painted Devil Belgian ale was delicious. Very accommodating bar staff too. Highly recommend this pub!

Good beer. Wish the kitchen stayed open a little later, but bartender was polite and friendly.

Food was good. Bartender did not know a black and tan. I think they need to train their staff better. We had clam chowder and wings. The wings were really good. They had the perfect amount of flavor and it was a decent portion. My husband had a bowl of clam chowder. He liked the flavor but wished there were more clams in it. All in all pretty good!!

Found this spot two blocks from the Westin I was staying at and sat at the bar for dinner while watching the game. The TV setup at the bar was great. They also projected it into a large screen in the dining room area. The turkey sando was average. Nothing amazing, but I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. The side of fries was the showstopper - came out freshly fried and they were delicious. The beer was good as well. I stuck with just the sour, but if I return I would definitely try some of the others. Impressive they actually brew on sight in a spot where the rent is likely outrageous. Although the staff was friendly, the service at the bar was slow. I mean really slow. I finished my first beer before anyone offered to take my order. And that was after I said when I ordered the beer I was going to get food and they gave me a menu. The place (including the bar) was only 40% full, so it wasn't that. The bartender just seemed disinterested. Although he was very friendly when actually did stop to take my order. I'd definitely go back if I was in the area, but wouldn't plan a trip to the area for it.

Every visit to the city, we always try and stop by to have a drink here. The service is superb and the bartender we get is amazing!

The food and drinks are good! The atmosphere is cozy and good for kids. We were tucked away in a corner, and it was just right for our family after a very long day. We ordered some appetizers, which were good. I had a salad and a beyond burger, and both were excellent. The kids had pizza and fries. They didn't eat too much, but that isn't on the restaurant. The cocktails were good (I had a Penicillin, he had a Gimlet). One star off because the service was seriously lacking. Our server hardly checked on us, and at the end of our meal, it took a long time for us to hunt her down for the check after she left us sitting (finished) for a very long time.

Beautiful spacious brew pub with a fireplace serving in-house fresh brews covering all the bases, and delish pub fare served by patient helpful staff. We watch games here

The drinks are excellent. The food was ok, nothing special. Ambiance is casual. Service is friendly and quick.

This place has been around for many years. The food is excellent. They have a large menu. The ribs were amazing. Customer service was excellent and waitstaff was very attentive. I enjoyed my dinning experience. I only hope that they stay open later. I am surprised by how early they close.

Met a friend at this location because he wanted to go to a bar to watch the game. We got some snack food (sweet potato fries and buffalo cauliflower). Not sure if it was because I wasn't hungry but neither were really great. The bar itself was cute and very packed. Huge screen for the game so that was a win. Service overall was pretty bad. My friend and the female server had some serious issues as she was completely ignoring him. She did NOT look like she was having a good day but really rude and unprofessional conduct. Other staff seemed okay but we didn't interact with them too much. Likely will not come back as no aspects of the overall experience were really great.

This is a nice gastropub to stop by for a simple pick me up after spending the day in downtown SF shopping. It's a bit dark inside and the wood interior contributes to the dim lighting. This makes it a little difficult to read the menu. It's a casual place for a bite to eat and have an adult beverage. Good portion sizes. Order and pay with the QR code on the table. Open seating. Not many beers on draft. Nothing fancy. But decent bar food.

Pleasantly surprised ; came here for a casual quick dinner and was very surprised . HUGE alcohol selection ; amazing ordering system and super quick service . Cool vibe , good eats , and great service - can't ask for more . Give this place a shot !

Service sucks, beer sucks, food was marginal. We ordered buffalo cauliflower, buffalo wings with mango habañero, goat cheese and crispy parsley flatbread, kale salad, and pepperoni pizza. Drinks: their IPA, pils, a Mexican mule and a mezcal mule. The only thing that stood out is they have good quality cheese.

Bartlett Hall never disappoints! Food, cocktails and the team are exceptional! They continue to serve THE best hamburgers! They offer a nice, relaxing environment. Thank you, Juan, Bruno, Olivia and Bo for always being so welcoming!

This is an update to my previous review which I provided last year. I've brought several friends and everyone has enjoyed the experience. On our last visit, one friend said, "I really like this place." After seeing Tina, The Musical today, I brought another friend who was new to Bartlett Hall. As we entered, the staff recognized and greeted me and asked how I've been. Customers have a choice of using a QR code system to order. My friend does not see well, so I asked for menus and ordered using the traditional method. No problem whatsoever - the staff is truly accommodating. I had a great smash burger with cheddar, while my friend enjoyed a small pizza with plenty to take home. I love this place! There are high tables with barstools, sofas with low tables, traditional dining tables and chairs, as well as the bar. Something for everyone! And the stout... so freaking good. It's like sipping a wonderful bourbon, only better.

Flatbread Happy Hour!! Yummy !! The staff are friendly and quick to respond to your requests!! House beer are tasty too!

Rate : 8 It's the holiday season, joy is in the air people are in high spirits and it's definitely a good time to visit San Francisco on a cold December night. The Bartlett Hall is a hotel and restaurant filled with classic IPAs and other wonderful drinks as well. Review : Drink : " Shirley Temple " This is a classic drink among the young and old wether you want it on the rocks or just plain and simple they got it. I pared mine with a bottle of sprite and one hundred percent cherry syrup with no added ingredients. Food : " The Ruben Sandwich " Coming in with Housemade Corned Beef with Point Reyes Toma Cheese and Bacon Sauerkraut and finishing it off Russian Dressing. It was a great sandwich to sink my teeth into and the meat was nice and tender with a little kick to it. I would try it if your in town or looking for a bite to eat The service was fast and efficient you and you pay right at the table.

I just love this place. I love to watch Warriors games here, I love to eat '"pub food" here. It's got a great vibe & all the staff have been super cool.

Really cool spot, trendy modern decor! My friends and I needed some alcohol after the Friends Experience (the only thing missing from that exhibit) and ended up here. I'm so over the no-menu trend, BUT I will say in a group setting it was so nice to order my own drinks and food from my own phone and not have to worry about venmo'ing back anybody. I first ordered a beer to sip on while I perused the food menu and I am NOT kidding - within two minutes of submitting my order, they brought me beer. I was like "oh no sorry sir that's not mine, I only ordered mere seconds ago" and it really was MY beer! Ordered the club sandwich for my meal and it was really good! And THEIR RANCH IS SO BOMB - maybe even better than Wing Stop's ranch. Also, and most importantly, I can't really explain this in a review but they have "the good fries". If you know you know. I think beer-battered are what Im talkin about but I'm not a chef so don't quote me on that- they have the wonderful pillowy fries bottom line =) So get a side of fries!!

My friend and I were staying nearby hotel and needed to get dinner. My husband wanted a burger so we found this place. While I didn't think their burger was anything special, everything was pretty decent and the price was okay for San Fransico. It is pretty loud inside so I didn't care if my baby started crying lol. They do have high chairs and booster chairs, but no diaper change table in the bathroom FYI. The service was quick and attentive. Definitely a good place to grab a drink and something really greasy to go with it.

I'm really torn when it comes to this place, although the food was good, the service gets a 1 star in my opinion & I should clarify that the servers did nothing wrong, it's the way this restaurant sets it up . Everything needs to be ordered through the QR code, the waiters did nothing but bring us water & dropped our food which is fine but why are you making me pay a 16% tip? & I get it, we were a group of 6 which is considered large, yet we all ordered separately. I feel they should at least give you the option to either have a server or do everything through your phone.

Extremely friendly staff. Checked in often, were friendly and helpful, and forgiving when I messed up the online order Food was fast and tasty. The truffles fries were great. Chill, laid back, nice sports bar vibes.

Good service, good ambience, interesting drinks, and great food. Had the happy hour cauliflower buffalo and it was really good. The fish and chips and fish tacos were good too. Lots of flavor and a nice crunch with the slaw mix. My only gripe would be the VERY spicy, fresh jalapeño slices on the tacos. I think there were 6-7 on each taco. Maybe better on the side?

My favorite restaurant/brewery in Union Square. Granted, it's the only brewery in Union Square (as far as I know) but the beer is great & so is the food. This place makes a perfect stop for dinner & drinks or just drinks before a concert at August Hall around the corner. They always have IPAs. Clear, hazy, session...can't go wrong with any of them. But if you're lucky, they'll also have a more viscous, dark beer on tap. These in my opinion are way better than their IPAs. If you're really lucky, they'll have two like they did during my most recent visit. I rather enjoyed the Postcard from Saint Petersburg, a 10.5% Russian Imperial Stout with full, roasted chocolate undertones but still not too sweet. I also liked Brendan's Fault, a 9% Imperial Black IPA (a type we don't see too often!) Their beer pairs well with their food which I'd describe as fancy bar food. Like, a burger, but not just any burger, but one with local blue cheese, provolone, a fried egg, and served au jus (The Bartlett Burger.) If turkey, pulled pork, or reubens are more your style...Bartlett Hall has you covered too. Their fish tacos are solid and so is the kale salad. For sides, truffle fries are always good but I'd pick the roasted oyster mushrooms, since I don't know of any other place that serves those as a side...and they are tasty. Prices for most items are on par for the area, although I think the sides are a great deal at $5 for most.

Had a beer, kale salad, and sweet potato fries here with a group of coworkers. Vibes similar to an English pub/sports bar, Barlett Hall is good for groups, and the food was surprisingly good for bar food. They bring everything out super fast. But you order and pay from your phones which I don't love. The ambiance is more for fast eats than enjoying a meal together.

Good spot to come if you want to grab a bite before going to see a show in the area. I stopped in at 6 and didn't have trouble finding a table. Food is good. Nothing amazing but it was good. I had the chicken sandwich which I enjoyed. Chicken was pretty dry and it was a mess to eat, but it tasted good. I got the side salad with it, and I really loved their vinaigrette. Portions are generous and the cocktails were good. Staff was very friendly and provided some excellent service. When you sit down at the table, you need to scan the QR and order on your phone. Food and drinks came rather quickly. The servers still provided some excellent table service. The last time I came in I ordered the fish tacos which were also good and a pretty good size portion.

I came here when it first opened and it has improved over the years. Great beer, good food and a decent floor plan. Four stars due to the overall upkeep and turning of tables. A great bar to catch the games when in the area.

Good service, food, and atmosphere close to Union Square. Ordered the buffalo cauliflower which was tasty and a decent portion for the price. The service was friendly. The space is big, open, and expansive and was a good place to watch the Niners game. Would go back again if in the area and looking for food/drink.

Bartlett Hall is a wonderful casual Union Square restaurant. Great service. Some of the very best French Fries in San Francisco, and they do an awesome job with the Impossible Burger. They serve their draft beers icy cold in large glasses. I love this place.

Had decent food but TERRIBLE cocktail here recently. Bartenders were complaining about another bartender and management. So uncomfortable. Learn how to make a simple old fashioned and stop complaining about your job within earshot of customers.

Delicious food and the cocktails are delicious. We tried the burger and the clam chowder along with the turkey club. You can't go wrong with any one. Really nice ambiance, good service. Will definitely return when we are back in the area.

Great atmosphere in the Inion Square part of San Francisco. Great service...Friendly bartenders. The craft beer was exceptional. Great choices and happy hour menu was good as well.

Went to Bartlett Hall for the first time yesterday and it was a pleasant experience. It has a dive / gastro bar fell located 5 minutes from Union Square. The food was really good, especially the buffalo fried cauliflower and sweet potato fries. Also, all customers are encouraged to scan a QR code menu, choose drink / food, and can pay from the website, which is really convenient. Be ready to share your vaccination card and id. Overall, I had a good experience and encourage you to try this place out!
