Google
The whole experience was great. The server was exceptionally attentive and helpful in selecting items from the menu and never seemed rushed. The food was also very good and over all the price was reasonable. We added a request to the OpenTable reservation and the hostess had everything set, we truly appreciated their assistance. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

Google
Paella was crispy good. Appetizers too. Ham croquetas and eggplant pizzeta (forgot what they call it in Spain). Service was excellent. We sat early at 6 and the place was mostly empty. Prices are high but not bad considering the location and the food. Only gripe is that the tables on our sides were too close. They have plenty of space to space them out better but they were empty so it didn't bother us. Music at low volume. Then a live musical performance that was a pleasant surprise.

Priti N.

Google
Food was very good. We had seafood paella and the veggie paella, both were delicious. The half size was the perfect portion for three people. The eggplant appetizer was amazing. We enjoyed our food except that they served our drinks, Pina colada, in plastic disposable cups!:( The reason our server gave us that they ran out of/broke all the fancy glasswares which was hard to believe and kind of unrealistic reason! It felt like we were eating at a fast food place!

Google
We came here twice in between two days. The reason ist easy, Service ist great, food IS nice to a fair price If you compare it to other Restaurants which only offers Fries and fried Chicken. As an european I can highly recommend the salads and the cocas (spanish Pizza), high quality incrediants which is not common for the US.

Google
We reserved a table for 11 at 7:00 pm, a reservation that we made 2 weeks before the dinner date. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the reservation time, we had to wait 30 minutes in line before the host met us. Then she informed us that our table was not ready. We had to wait an additional 30 minutes just to be seated. Have in mind that the parking is charged and per hour $$$. The place was fully packed, and service was very slow. At some point they informed us that they were understaffed. Food took a long time to be served, and our friend Juan almost passed out waiting for his meal. I really believe that Juan was not liked by the staff (but that's my opinion). On the other hand, the food was very good, and the staff was very professional and caring. The host really tried her best to keep us informed while we were waiting in line, despite having a reservation. Management really needs to take out their crabs out of their pockets (local proverbs) and hire more personnel.

Google
Very nice restaurant with plenty of seating The chi latte and the croquetas con jamón serrano were very good. Papas bravas were not bravas (not spicy) lacked sauce. Shrimp al ajillo were very bland (lacked red pepper flakes). Skip the sangria. Service, atmosphere and location were fantastic.

Google
Delicious experience from beginning to end. Juan, Paola & Sasha took very good care of us. The food was great and they even had Flamenco 💃 dancing!

Google
Great and attentive service, our server was Natalia. Good food!!! We enjoyed the cheese and cured meat platter paired with a good wine. Enjoyed the Grilled Hanger Steak and loved the Tarta de Manchego. Que rico!!

Yelp
Very hungry after a long travel day and this place was within walking distance. Fast friendly service. Food was okay Great menu but food quality was average at best.. Pulpo was hot, but Very chewy, odd pairing wrapped around a cold potato salad. Sardines: good fish, very mild but too heavy on the vinegar. (My fav dish of the evening) Calamari. Fried, hot with a lemony aioli. Pretty good
google avatar

Yelp
You're ink-credibly delicious! Highlights: * Grilled Octopus * Mixed Drinks * Plenty of Tapas Review: I had high expectations because of the price point and location of the restaurant. The croquetas de Jamón Serrano had a tasty filling, but the outer layer was too mushy, which threw off the texture. The highlight of the day was definitely the Pulpo à la Gallega. It was perfectly grilled, with a smoky flavor elevated by the romesco sauce. The potato puree was a nice complement to the octopus, which balanced the dish. I would like to come back to try their other drinks and dishes. Rating: 8/10 Croquetas de Jamón Serrano Pulpo A La Gallega

Yelp
Service 1/10 Ambiance 5/10 Food ?/10 don't know. we never got what we ordered and had to leave because we were attending a conference and had waited more than 1 hour to get served. Waiting more would have made us miss our pre- registered sessions. I don't think it may have been the server's fault. The owner should have more staff on hand when there's a conference next door because they know they will obviously get very busy. The hostess who sat us also took our order and then went to make our salad. There were 2 of us and we both ordered a regular salad with no protein; not that hard. After over 1 hour of waiting we went up to ask her if we could take it to go. She then informed us that she had not started making it. So we left

Yelp
Omg first time trying this place and sadly the last. They had a flamenco show very loud could not talk over the loud music. The calamari was horrible tasted frozen not fresh. Then we got a big paella to share we had to return it, had no flavor and meat tasted old. They took it back they tasted it and they agreed it had no flavor. They told us they didnt have the broth they usually add to it and it was bland. The check was still 70 bucks for nothing horrible food horrible experience. Do not eat here!!!!

Yelp
Excellent food and ambience. Our server Christoper was amazing. Food came out quickly! Don't hesitate to try this place. We would definitely come back.

Yelp
We stopped by several other places nearby to grab different cocktails/ apps and, overall, this was our favorite. It had a lot of options and everything we had was good. The server we had was really friendly but also easily distracted by other tasks (one of our items never came to the table and we were also waiting a while after our check to get our takeout bag and validation). Food was tasty! We ordered (ranked by table favs): 1-Risotto with mushrooms (not on menu but they added some truffle oil) 2- Patatas Bravas 3- Picaña steak (we loved the crispy truffled home fries that came with this) 4-Chipirones en salsa verde (this meal wasnt bad. It was very very light and buttery, and I just go toward bolder flavors Cocktails we had were good as well

Yelp
This was a lovely night out. I visited with a group of about 13 people, and we had an absolute blast. We decided to order a variety of tapas and cocktails to share, and it turned out to be the perfect way to enjoy this restaurant. Every single appetizer we tried was fantastic--so much so that I completely forgot to take pictures of the food! We sampled nearly every appetizer on the menu, and not a single one disappointed. The cocktails and beers were equally impressive, making the evening all the more delightful. The attentive staff ensured we had everything we needed, and their service added to the positive experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious, with a prime location that makes it easy to visit. I'm already looking forward to my next trip back--this place is a must-try for anyone looking for amazing tapas and a great atmosphere!

Yelp
Really tasty food! The service was maybe a little slow but I had plenty of time so I was ok to have things come out at a bit more leisurely pace. The interior is very pretty with big ceilings and lots of natural light.
google avatar

Yelp
I was disappointed with the paella. I'd read mixed reviews on it, but still had hopes it was good. Unfortunately, my experience matched the negative reviews. It didn't taste like paella at all. It had no flavor. It was something I have done way better at home. I don't recommend it. Also, the octopus was different this time. It was chopped into small bits and over a bed of potato salad. Not Pulpo a la Gallega like the menu states. The picanha steak was excellent, though.
google avatar

G R.

Yelp
Place very nice atmosphere including live musician. Food was excellent regarding flavors, but food took way too long to be serve. Some of our partie of 5 were serve within reasonable time but two who ordered Paella, were advised it takes an hour, in eality took over 1. 5 hrs even after complaining to the Manager, who tried to explain and accommodate as much he was able. Extra appetizers or drinks is not what lwas lookin for, but our main course meal. Overall timing was not acceptable. Thank you to both, Manager Abimale and John our waiter, we'll go again hopping to have a wonderful dinner. Oh. by the way, they servevte Best "Croquetas de Jamon" ever tried.
google avatar

Nandini A.

Yelp
Great ambiance and location! Located in a lovely fun spot especially during the holidays. I love the tapas style dinner and tried multiple dishes including the pizzetas and patatas bravas. My favorite thing was the Serrano and manchego pizzeta- perfect amount of garlic, cheese, and sweet peppers on a thin crust. The vegetarian paella took a good amount of time and wasn't super spicy but was presented beautifully and the staff were kind enough to give us a side of hot sauce. I appreciate the vegetarian option!!

Yelp
The ambiance, the food, the drinks, and the service are all excellent at Barullo Taberna Espanola! This is a standard tapas restuarant, but with additional apps and entrees to select as well. My friend and I came here TWICE during our 5-day adventure in Puerto Rico last week. What brought us back for seconds??? It was the papaya salad of all things! That salad has completely raised the bar in my book for any salad I eat going forward for the rest of my life. It's just that good. It's the new baseline, and let me tell you, the baselne is HIGH! This salad has mixed greens, a well-prepared prociutto or something similar, red onions, feta cheese, tomatoes, and the star of the show, carmelized papaya! It's a showstopper! The second time we came, we each ordered it with shrimp, which was an excellent choice. Aside from that, we had the manchego cheese plate, garlic butter shrimp, and the meatballs. Everything was good! I highly recommend Barullo and look forward to returning the next time I'm in San Juan!

Sami B.

Yelp
Customer service is good! That's it, food timing sucks, beef temperature so fucked up! If I ever come back I will not order nothing but drinks! Although they fucked up my drink
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
Oh my god. This place is incredible. You ABSOLUTELY HAVE to come here if you want good seafood at a reasonable price. The octopus is cooked to LITERAL perfection!! The bartender was willing to make a special drink because I wanted passionfruit. 12/10 would recommend

Yelp
Gracias,

Yelp
Awful service. In fact, after one hour of waiting (with tables available) we decided to leave. Personnel seem to operate without supervision and at their own space. I tried this restaurant about one month ago for a business lunch and the food was average. Went today with my wife and will NEVER be back. Lots of options in San Juan Puerto Rico, there is no need for the aggravation, high prices and poor service.

Yelp
When I arrived, Fernando greeted me.He was so professional, great attitude and had a smile. Ricardo was my server on Saturday night and he was an excellent server, suggesting items and being of service. on Mother's Day, Yadiel was our server. super nice, professional and although the place was packed and a little slow being that it was Mother's Day, he was still available and willing to help and make our dinner a special one, which he succeeded in doing. Omar,Yadiel and Ricardo are all examples of great servers. Fernando being the first person to greet you is superb. Food as usual was great, I will definitely return.

Yelp
The restaurant is very trendy and in a great location. The vibe is bright and vibrant. That's about where the positives end. We dined here for brunch. The menu is mediocre...we both ended up ordering sandwiches. Pretty basic. Our waiter was kind but not attentive. I asked for more water and he took a glass off of a random tray and gave it to me. We ordered coffee when he first took our order and it arrived as we were about to leave - after we had eaten our food. Needless to say, there are so many other options at the T-Mobile center. This place should really up their game..
google avatar

Yelp
How does a restaurant go from great to meh in 3 steps: 1) slowest kitchen ever 2) not enough staff so super slow service 3) make a paella so greasy and devoid of socarrat, your broken heart will bleed on the table. And so this happened. Not even crowded, I had the wonderful server I had the first time I visited. Lovely guy. Not a lot of people. Not a lot of service either. Ordered stuffed piquillos that never came. The cheese and charcuterie board was as expected. Poor guy said "we just don't have the manpower" and of course we waited 25 minutes before we were even served. The paella was grossly over oiled with no socarrat (I should know paellas, I make them). What a pity. It's such a cool place. But they are going downhill and don't even care. Barely any people, and service was slower than molasses. Without any sweetness. The manager must be pitiful not to prepare to offer better alternatives knowing they are running low on manpower. Too bad.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was amazing! Drinks with friends--We ordered (1) the seafood paella (2) pulpo (3) coquette de jamon (4) hanger steak Live DJ and def a vibe. Will be back :)

Chris T.

Yelp
Food was okay. Service is not great. They forgot my drink order, even after reminding. -the entrance is in the T-Mobile area - they give you bottle water when u ask for water. It's Dasani.
google avatar

Z V.

Yelp
Disaster. The fig with bacon was overcooked to a crisp beyond edible. The chorizo a la grill were equally bad. Plus it had peanuts on top? WTF?? Finally the paella was not edible. The seafood description on the menu and the production of the final product were two vastly different this. Seafood? Nada. Service was slow and had to chase done waiter constantly. Whoever runs this joint think again. It's just plain bad

Yelp
We visited Distrito T-Mobile because it was convenient to our hotel on our first night, and Barullo's menu spoke to us. We were there at an off time so I don't have much to say on ambiance, but the restaurant has a lot of open space where you can view some of the kitchen from your table. They offer both inside and outside seating. The food was good, not great. The best item was the honey garlic sweet potatoes that came with the chicken. Service was quick but it was largely empty, and our server didn't engage much with us. Overall Barullo was a reasonable option but didn't stand out in any significant way.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. Went with my family and some friends. Amazing food and service was top notch. We ordered several tapas: - bread with tomato spread and olive oil - fried calamari - piquillo peppers stuffed with blood sausage - patatas bravas - grilled octopus - serrano croquettes - ham and cheese platter - coca (spanish pizzeta) - roasted eggplant - cheese pizza and pasta for the kids And to drink we got a bottle of wine and a pitcher of white sangria. Everything was delicious and worth ordering a 2nd time, especially the patatas bravas, eggplant, and octopus. For dessert we ordered churros which were very good and a manchego flan (interesting and good, but I prefer the manchego flan at Casa Manolo in Santurce). This is a must try restaurant. One I will certainly come back to.

Yelp
The serving team is exceptional! However, the extreme dysfunction between the reception staff and kitchen make it impossible to rate this any higher. Long, long wait for food, raw chicken on our chicken Caesar salad, and didn't catch it until we left that we were still charged for it. My error. Lots of opportunities to improve here, but didn't see anyone that appeared to be leading the staff. And to reiterate, the serving team are all stars!
google avatar

Ginette P.

Yelp
We wanted to stay close to the hotel & this was the prefect option as it was walkable distance. We came in & were seated outside , drinks to start we tried the Red sangria it was good nice taste. Appetizer had the Shrimp Al Ajillo, strong garlic taste a bit on the spicy side but good. Main dishes I had the Short rib w mashed yuca instead of potatoes , short rib was delicious but a bit too much on the fatty parts, yuca mash was very good hubby had the Campo paella small plate , I gotta say it was very good. Dessert we caved in & tried the Flan, the flan saved them wow it was just the right amount of sweetness to end the meal nice touch w the Oats & almonds. Nice place inside but u have a whole other world outside so the service suffers since it seems not enough servers, our app we ordered first but got it last they basically forgot about it or so it seemed, hubby's paella although very good came out first like by a good 15 minutes & was warm not hot, they at least didn't charged us for the Shrimp since we'll we got our food & drinks & were practically done before they brought out the shrimp. I'd said the Flan saved them because it really was amazing , our food over all was very good but the service needs improvement or maybe they were short handed? we waited too long for everything from the food to the check, the waitress were nice & attentive but seemed like they totally needed some extra hands on deck. Overall we had a good meal it was worth the try.

Yelp
Don't come hungry to Barullo. The service is severely deficient. It took 45 to 60 minutes just to get some simple tapas. And when we finally did, the patatas bravas were cold. That's not so surprising given how cold it is inside the restaurant. Plus the chorizo al vino had a scattering of sausage, five or six slices only. It wasn't tasty either. I would recommend finding another Spanish restaurant in San Juan (there are many), or visit another establishment in the Distrito area of the convention center.

Yelp
google avatar

G A.

Yelp
We tried the garlic shrimp, arugula salad and beef rib. One word- delicioso! I wish my mouth was bigger.
google avatar

Lillian M.

Yelp
We reserved based on web reviews yet when we got to the place, it wasn't as appealing from an esthetic perspective. We decided to stay anyhow as we had others meeting us. Boy was the food and service by Hector 5 stars!!!! We ended up staying more than 5 hours and from 6 people grew to a group of 13. Hector was awesome, extremely knowledgeable about the menu and so accommodating. I would refresh the looks inside to be more warm and inviting as this is a place we would come eat, over and over.

Yelp
We were staying at Aloft for one night, got in late, and needed something to eat in the room. Got some sandwiches from here. Went back the next morning for more sandwiches before our flight. Maybe this is vacation brain talking, but I loved all of it. Had a Cubano and El Barullo for dinner. And they were just hitting the spot. The bread is perfect and really made the sandwiches. El Barullo was very salty on account of the cured meats, but was so satisfying. Went back for breakfast. I wanted to try their mallorca with ham and cheese and it was definitely hitting. Very greasy, but that's how it should be. And the pavo y aguacate might've been the best out of everything. I can almost taste it right now. I mean, just look at that midsection. That bacon doesn't lie. The coffees were very good also. I'd love to come here for a real meal, it just wasn't in the cards this time.

Yelp
A must! The food is amazing and the drinks are the best!!! The staff is simply amazing!

Yelp
Typical tourist trap place near the T mobile district. Charges $9 for water if you don't get a drink. Super slow service too. Hard to find a decent food place in the area though so expectation was already low. At least the Arena itself is reasonably nice.
google avatar

Katie P.

Yelp
We enjoyed our experience at Barullo! Both the grilled hanger steak and Papaya & Queso de Cabra salad were amazing. The one thing I wish we had known to partake in is their wine wall - you purchase a pay card then can try different wines by the ounce on your own. Highly recommend trying this place!

Yelp
I know we are in "pandemic" times and I'm going to cut it some slack. Place is trying to recreate El Mercado San Miguel in Madrid but it's missing something, maybe it is Madrid. Food was ok but not great. I'm Spaniard and I was expecting Spanish Food: "Albóndigas" in Italian Sauce doesn't cut it. Calamares were "ok" but not great. Only Magna on tap "cañas" for now! I will try it again. The "platos" at the bar are not Spanish. Maybe they need to be more inclusive, but you are either a Taberna Española or you're not. If you go all the way, you can still make it. Service was Excellent! Kudos for Malena at the Bar! No tienen ni unas patatas ni unas aceitunas en la barra para picar! Hay que transportar este sitio a España, si no, va a ser otro Mercado como el de Paseo Caribe o un Mercato como el Mall de San Juan. Tienen que diferenciarlo.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Everything in this place was delicious. Service was exceptional with Norberto. It was my dad's birthday and they put a candle on the desert and offered to sing. Every dish pictured was amazing. We would return again if we were staying in the area. Great experience!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Quick dinner of the arugula and manchego salad with chicken was fantastic. The service was good and has a Albariño also that was great. Will be back

Yelp
Vacu ID upon entry, Barullo is within the T-Mobile District that opened up recently. The place is spacious and nicely decorated. They offer a good amount of tapas dishes, wines, and main entrees. Friendly staff, good service and great food. Mostly Spanish tapas with a local flair. We ordered several dishes and to me what really stood out were the Patatas Bravas- delicious!! Also the Sautéed Mushrooms were superb!! The Pan con Tomate was tasty even though the crusty bread got a bit soft, but to be expected since it's absorbing the delicious tomato and garlic concoction on top. The Piquillos rellenos de Morcilla were surprisingly good considering I don't eat morcilla (blood sausage). We had a blended red wine bottle which was very good! For dessert, the Churros con Chocolate were awesome too! They were generously dusted with cinnamon sugar and to be dunked in the chocolate dip. All in all it was a great meal and great service!

Yelp
We were really looking forward to this restaurant... it's one of the first reservations we made when planning our PR trip. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the reviews from others. We ordered the following: * Peach Smoothie - good * White Sangria - only ok * Tabla De Quesos & Embutidos - good, although it took over 25 minutes to receive it and the server said the 'kitchen didn't receive the order'... not worth waiting that long for some cheese/meats and given the rest of our experience and how easy it is to get amazing quesos & embutidos in PR it's not worth going just for that * Pavo & Augacate - never arrived * El Barullo - never arrived * Txistorra Brava - the kitchen ran out of some of the ingredients, so made the pizzaeta with what they have... and thought I wouldn't notice. When I asked the server she said, matter of factly, that the kitchen didn't have all of the ingredients as it had been a busy weekend. There was no apology nor an explanation as to why it was delivered without telling me that it wasn't as ordered or letting me know the pizzaete wouldn't be made with all of the ingredients on the menu... additionally, because it too so long to receive the quesos & embutidos, I received the pizzeta at the same time as the appetizer The restaurant is cute and it's a good concept. Just wasn't executed well in our experience. We won't be back.

Yelp
It was a great environment And fun place. We ordered a chicken and fish stew. We liked it a lot

Yelp
I am a Spaniard so my bar is set high when I rate spanish food but I was happy with the selection on the menu and I really enjoyed the setting. I am happy we ate there.

Yelp
10/10 recommend. Every bite was a little bit of a savory explosion and never failed to keep my taste buds satisfied. Drinks are refreshing as well. If you're looking for a bite to share, recommend the board w/ all options if possible in your party!

Yelp
We came here for dinner and our server had a bad attitude the whole time. She brought our drinks and we never seen her after that. The host walked our food to us and helped us after that, she only came when it was time to pay. 2 dishes out of the 5 we ordered never came and we didn't get one apology- all she said was "next time you're in Puerto Rico you can try them they're good". The pizzas were 5/10, salty. The arugula salad was good but the shrimp was undercooked. Definitely don't recommend this place, plenty of other good restaurants around.

Yelp
Omg Barullo's my love !!!! This review is long over due I went here in March while visiting Puerto Rico on vaca with my sister and her friends. When I tell you hands down this was by far my favorite restaurant. To this day and we are in July now I can still taste the salmon w/mashed potatoes and the ham croquettes. Hands down my favorite restaurant we visited while in Puerto Rico and we went to so many. I believe the manager name was Alison who helped us, she was pregnant at the time. She was awesome, very attentive and sweet and I loved how she managed. Humble and down to earth. She suggested the salmon and mashed potatoes so shoutout to her! Great service, great food I have no complaints. The drinks were perfect we had the mimosas and the seating was beautiful outside. Close by a beautiful scenery to take pictures. I wish I had pics still of the food and drinks but if you can trust me, I'm telling you this place is worth it. Decor: loved the inside, nice vibe beautiful colors, gives me a high end cafe kind of vibe. The bathroom was beautifully detailed as well, I'll be back to take pics next time in Puerto Rico.

Yelp
Last night in PR and if there was a negative star I would pick it. Let's start with the obvious. The place is beautiful no question they just opened 3 weeks ago. They need to make back the money they lost because of the pandemic but couldn't you afford a better chef? Aside from waiting 2 hours for a table (didn't matter than much because it's a popular place and we went to get drinks first). When we finally sat down and order a pitcher of sangria, we got Koolaid and cheap wine. The table next to us order sangria and it looked the part. So why this crap? Still hoping for the best, we ordered the meatballs and the daily paella. Wow, these meatballs were over cooked and over seasoned and just awful. The paella was even worse. It had so much sauce that it was red paella - usually it's yellow. Not sure what happened here either. This is a Spanish restaurant, right? Then my friend orders the manchego cheescake and the waiter brings her a salmon over mashed potatoes lol! She tells him that this is clearly not her dessert and he just takes it back. No I'm sorry from him nor our waitress. Just terrible. I would never come back to eat here. Oh and I almost forgot, I got food poisoning the next morning! Thank God I was better before my flight!

Morgan M.

Yelp
0 stars. HORRIBLE SERVICE. DO NOT GO HERE. The server messed up taking our order and thought we ordered two steaks when we did not, and then he still charged us for it. The steak was also disgustingly overcooked. It took so long for the food to come out and each persons meal came out at different times. We were waiting for one persons meal for 30 minutes. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Yelp
First time at TMobile District. Great atmosphere. Unfortunately the restaurant chosen was not the best choice. Service was terrible. Waited forever to get served. Appears the server was new. Ordered the papas brava, came out soggy. The croquettes were mushy. The server forgot our paella, when we asked her, looks like she went and scooped it up and dumped it on the plate, when we asked her. Very poor presentation. The Ricotta Bruschetta was very bland. For the price point, expected so much more. Would not be back.

Yelp
Just read the other reviews. This place is excellent, so ask your wait staff what's good today. In typical tapas fashion you are encouraged to chill, share some food, drink some wine, and let the day pass by around you. This place has everything you need to successfully follow that path. Enjoy!

Yelp
Great restaurant, especially if you are looking for a light breakfast. Something sweet, something salty, something for everybody. Safe and clean place, I loved it...
