Base Face Pizza Hammersmith - Review - Hammersmith - London - The Infatuation

"The only concern you’ll feel at Base Face Pizza is for the cartoon pizza by the till, who appears to have fallen off his skateboard and banged his tiny crust head. Don’t be too alarmed—the smiling, clumsy cartoon pizza mascot is giving a smile and thumbs up anyway. That’s the happy-go-lucky nature of this little pizzeria in Hammersmith. Between the wooden classroom-esque chairs and the array of tiny humans experimenting with dough stick jenga in high chairs, Base Face Pizza is the ideal spot to go on a casual playdate with some pepperoni. The sourdough pizzas all sound like trending TikTok dances in the making—the Truffle Shuffle, the Cheeky Pineapple, the Base Face—and are reliably chewy, and the latter comes with a whole milky burrata. We should probably resent the somewhat sloppy nature of the slices, but honestly it only adds to the minimal stress, maximum chill feel. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Food Rundown Base Face Pizza The eponymous pizza at Base Face is both a feat of cheese consumption and potentially every lactose intolerant person’s worst nightmare. A whole burrata sits on a sweet tomato and soft, chewy dough throne with parmesan added on top, because clearly this pizzeria shares our affections for dairy. Thanks to the rocket and generous glug of garlic oil, the rich milkiness of the burrata isn’t overwhelming. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley" - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Really great pizza and service here. We got the prawns and breadsticks to start- the breadsticks are large and warm pieces of bread- was great but so filling. Pickled vegetables also good. Margherita pizza and prawn pizza both amazing. Tirimasu had no alcohol and was great too. We had an offer, prices really reasonable.

Went to base face pizza for lunch. It was our first ever visit to any of your restaurants so we didn’t know what to expect. We ordered the seasonal mint courgette cream pizza with feta, and the cheeky pineapple. Both pizzas were delicious but the cheeky pineapple was our favourite with a good balance of sweet, salty, and spicy 👌. The pizza base has a lovely flavour and is nice and airy. When you can’t finish your pizza they’re more than happy to offer and bring you a box to take home. Overall, if you like classic pizzas or you want a modern twist Base Face Pizza is the place for you. High quality and a great eat. The music that was playing while we were there was great.

West London, you’ve got a gem. Base Face doesn’t just make pizza, it respects pizza. The dough? Absolute perfection. The kind of texture that only comes from someone obsessing over fermentation timelines. Toppings are fresh and quality ingredients that actually taste like what they’re supposed to. It’s the kind of place that makes you rethink your pizza standards. A West London staple. And 100% worth the hype.

Delicious pizza with some curveball toppings: I had their pineapple jam 'hot honey' alternative, which was the perfect balance of sweet, savoury and spicy. The tiramisus were great too, and a good drinks selection. The only minor quibble were the churros, which are a pizza-crust spin and perhaps a little too much pizza dough after the main (but that's just personal preference speaking). I'll definitely be back to try the toppings I didn't get to.

An absolute gem. In a world full of fast speed, expensive and low quality pizza options Base Face Pizza is doing what others should take a page from. Slow risen dough, and actually fresh toppings and ingredients are used. You can just tell from eating (devouring). The idea of using pineapple ‘jam’ rather than just chunks is innovative and well thought out. I can sense tradition but with a hint of playfulness and variety which is what food should be about! Definitely returning! Had TWO orders of the tiramisu with clotted cream and pistachio. 11/10 lads 🙏

The restaurant is really nice, love the decor. Pizza prices are reasonable what I would expect to pay in the area. Friendly staff very polite. Ordered 2 pizza asked to change one of the topping for jalapeños. I was surprised to see an additional charge on the bill for the jalapeños when it was an alternative topping, not an extra. Also, I thought £11 for 2 small bottles of beer was a bit expensive. Might just be me, Yorkshire man, always looking for the best deals.

One of the best pizzas I’ve had in a very long time! We rocked up about 15 minutes before close on a Saturday with the family, desperate for the kids to eat. They were so friendly and the pizza came out so quick. Everything was delicious. It’s a shame it’s not closer to home. We’ll be back though!
