Great Gym and super friendly and helpful staff, and good classes. I’ve been training with Coach Olivia and the workouts are super energetic, fun, and keep me motivated about my fitness goals. She also tries to incorporate things I can do myself which helps me tremendously. Would highly recommend this gym and also Coach Olivia.

Coach Olivia is truly amazing. I’ve been working with her since October, and I’ve seen a huge improvement in my strength, confidence, and overall progress toward my goals. She takes the time to really understand what I want to achieve and tailors every session to support that. Beyond training, she also helps with the nutrition side, which has made such a big difference for me. She’s incredibly encouraging, attentive, and motivating, and I always feel supported and pushed in the best way. I’m so grateful to have her as my coach — highly recommend her to anyone looking to get stronger and reach their goals with the right guidance and support.

I was a member of Base Gym for 18 months and have nothing but good things to say. The machines are well maintained and fixed quickly if they break, the gym is clean, towels are also readily available at all times. Great atmosphere also which made working out there easy and a positive experience.

Recently moved to JC a few months ago, and joining Base has been one of the best decisions I've made! My trainer, Olivia is not only kind, personable, and professional, but she also pushes me to my highest potential, radiates positive energy, and is a true mentor! Gym is also very clean, staff is friendly, and classes are fun with different levels of challenge.

I also just started something new… boxing with an awesome trainer, Guil! Talk about a great new way to work out! 🥊! Best gym in JC. Space is large and very clean. I highly recommend the classes - they have great instructors, including some of the best yoga instructors in the area (check out Autumn & Steven). Erin signed me up years ago and has always been super helpful anytime I needed help with my membership, PT classes, etc.

Base gym is fantastic. The staff are professional and friendly, particularly the personal trainers. Coach Olivia is extremely knowledgeable and encouraging. In just a few months she’s helped me exceed my goals for the year. I couldn’t recommend her more!

I’m truly sad and reluctant to leave because I’m moving to the West soon, so unfortunately I have to cancel my Base membership. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say this gym is truly perfect in every way. The environment is clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The classes are comprehensive and fun, covering everything I could ever want, and the instructors are absolutely outstanding—professional, knowledgeable, and inspiring. After taking classes here, I always feel that no other place can compare or replace the teachers at Base. Thank you, Base, for providing such excellent service. BASE, the super good gym at 60 Christopher Columbus Drive, Jersey City, NJ is deserving of this stellar review. The staff if always pleasant and inviting. The gym itself is clean and full of different kinds of exercise equipment, as well as classes, massage room, lovely saunas. Locker rooms are spacious and attractive. Owner Craig has a great team to service patrons. Special thanks to front desk's Leah, Emily, Camila, Franklin, Carly; trainers Caesar, Igor, Ivan, Ebai, Haley, Olivia; maintenance staff of Luis, Steven, Patricia, Laurena. Craig's right-hand people are managers Mayrin and Erin. Base is in a great location close to the PATH trains and a few blocks from Newark Avenue pedestrian walk loaded with shops and eateries. Base gets a full 5-star rating from me.

My happy place in JC. You can find everything you need here, from a solo workout area to fitness classes. My favorite class is HIIT with Sam, it's challenging but rewarding. This is also my go-to place if I need to study because there's a cafe there. Reasonable membership price, and I love the summer time b/c so many outdoor events they host.

Don't buy massage certificates because apparently if you give Base your money to get a massage and then you or the person you gift doesn't get the massage within a year then the certificate expires. Do you get the money you gave them back? No you do not.

I have been a member of Base for the last 2 years and just renewed my contract! The best facilities, plenty of machines and very helpful team! Everyone is nice and it feels nice training here! The best gym in all Jersey City, hands down!

I've been a member at Base for about 6 months now, having signed up for a 1-year upfront prepaid membership and some personal training. No regrets. Pre-COVID I went to Equinox in the city, conveniently located in my office building. That membership quickly dissolved once COVID hit, and as I'm not in the physical office very often anymore, going back makes very little sense. Base has me covered! The space is large, and as someone that goes to the gym in the morning before work, I never find myself waiting for anything too long. On weights days I may have to change my order a little here and there, but I've never waited for cardio. I've yet to take any classes, but they seem frequent, and popular. The equipment (cardio and strength) is updated, they keep everything nice and clean, and there are always towels at the ready. Locker rooms are nice, and the steam room and a shower is always a good way to end a workout. My only note is that the shampoo and body wash in the showers are rarely labeled correctly, and often present themselves as different colors, so I have no idea which is which. So, I just bring my own. There are also some great lounge areas if you need to take a quick meeting (I speak from experience) and the attached coffee and smoothie bar is fantastic and well-priced.

Phenomenal gym, super friendly staff - 11/10. I've been a member for over a year, and have enjoyed every interaction at BASE. They always go out of their way to make things happen - which I deeply appreciate. The equipment is great, everything is well stocked, the people are super friendly. BASE is a great gym for people who like to workout. The equipment is first rate, there are lots of classes, the locker rooms are spacious and clean and the gym is well run and managed. The staff is friendly and it feels like a community working our there!

I've been at Base since 2017 and training with Coach Igor since 2021. Base is the most welcoming, inclusive, community-oriented gym I've ever been to. It's a gym for beginners, experts, those who like strength training, those who like to focus on cardio and everything in between. Igor has single-handedly turned the gym from being a chore into being one of the most exciting parts of my day. He designs programs curated to your specific goals and the programs cycle every month, so you're always learning new things and challenging yourself in different ways. I've reached weightlifting goals I've been trying to hit since I was in high school (I'm 30), I've nearly perfected my form on my main lifts, and I'm doing swing speed training with him for golf (top speed 135mph) so I'm hitting bombs on the course now too thanks to him. If he has an open time slot, don't think twice about taking it.

I felt very uncomfortable in here. There are too much people. I was considering changing the hours, but it is still to crowded. Due to this factor, I do not feel free to do my job in here. Moreover, most of the equipemnt I want to use usually is occupied by someone else, and I can not catch up with them! I see progress, which is good. But I can only thank myself for it. Overall, the place is good, but you need to do something about people. Solve this problem pls.

Good gym with lots of options. Definitely has the gym culture/community. The front desk workers are always kind. I've only gone for weightlifting and cardio machines but they do have classes which is cool. Better than other commercial gyms I've gone to. It is a pricy membership with a hefty activation fee but brings a good crowd of people. Right in downtown JC near the path train and grove/newark area. Be aware: very crowded.

After moving into the area I join this gym. It's very clean very modern and the locker rooms are fantastic. The staff is very friendly, and the people Who go here are friendly also. I'm trying to find the best times to go, because It can get busy. But that's the same in any good place. I look forward to becoming familiar with the gym I'm not a diehard but I do like to keep the weight off. The place is good for both an amateur and professional workouts

Sigh, I joined Base when NYSC closed. Yes, Base is a really really really nice gym. Spotless, clean, huge, insane amount of equipment, lots of classes (if you're into that kind of thing), a health food/smoothie bar, and sanitizing stations all over. I'm very happy with it, the only thing is, it is SO outrageously expensive, but there aren't many other options so they have an advantage. It's approx. $135/month, but you can likely snag a deal because they offer them all the time. Download their app and you get even more perks like discounts at the spa and notifications about the club. Staff is friendly, especially when I go at 6am when the gym opens and it's still dark out (lol).

I love this gym and train with Igor Fernandes who is the absolute best! This place is huge with incredible ceiling height and giant windows that fill the space with tons of natural light, it's a bright, energetic and motivating place. The staff is super helpful, the equipment is new and the sauna/steam room are clean and perfect after a hard workout. Second to none.

I've been a member of Base since 2017 and this is the best gym ever. I train with Igor, who constantly pushes me and is the best. All of the trainers are so great, as well as the staff. Working from home has been difficult, so the trainers have provided me motivation and laughter. Even if you don't have a trainer, the equipment is constantly being upgraded and there is variety of classes with great instructors.

I've been a patron of Base for 5+ years now. Hands down the best gym facility in JC, with incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and professional trainers and great class selection. Improvements are consistently being made, through equipment or redesign, and the investments are always made with care and thought to providing what the Base community needs as a whole.

Very high quality gym! It's very close to the path public transit, and there's parking underground. A lot of variety of equipment, but I think the classes are the real highlight. Sam's HIIT workout class is a real killer. I'm practically dead from one class. Everyone is pretty friendly here. The chilled menthol towels make me feel like it's equinox?! There's a spa here, so maybe one day when I have terrible back pain, I'll schedule an appointment. Sometimes there's special events like BMI measurements or the gym's anniversary free dinner too

Continued to charge my credit card after expired agreement. Found out hundreds of dollars, could've been thousands, were paid to base gym without my consent. Check your statements!

Love their classes. Certainly the nicest gym in jersey city and the staff are so friendly. It gets overly crowded after work though.

As a longtime member of Base (I was around when it opened in 2013) I've been happy with the quality of class offerings and equipment/space that is well suited to my needs. The instructors motivate me and make my day happier! Love the airy feeling that the high ceilings and windows offer. My usual workout time is early morning, and I can typically access the machines I'm most interested in - which are well maintained - or opt for a free weight and kettlebell workout in the large studio. Good times!

This is a beautiful gym. Super fun and all that. However, they will steal your money, overcharge you, and break their agreements with you. Just be careful going here because they certainly do not return any money that they stole from you bank account. Also, the gym is nice. Because I'm super upset they charged my account when I was no longer a member there (I have proof of contracts signed by Traci), the showers are gross, the sauna wreaks havoc, and the gym is not as clean as it looks.

It's over $100 per month. Their best trainer (Ashley) left and patrons are snooty without respect for the space. Employees have to take care of this, and do so reluctantly. Massages, PT sessions, IV's, Drinks/food all cost extra. They are branded as a high-class fitness club while they offer the same layout and downsides of your local planet fitness. Most of the people in here live nextdoor, where they can get the plan at a discounted rate. Guys, the normal monthly fee for a gym is 20-30 per month, not including maintenance fee (annual.) These people jack up the price to like 150/month and fine/penalize you any way possible. Sexist policy at the front desk, where only women are allowed to work for the blonde spin class overlord who bitterly manages the front office and has childish fits every other day. Xcel Fitness or Crunch in Hoboken are better, although the gyms in the area are overpriced.

These people are con-artists. They won't refund your memebership time during COVID when they were closed. They won't let you cancel if you have pre-existing conditions and can't safely attend the gym. And they won't refund your money if you move away for any reason. I can't believe I signed their bullshit contracts. They really should be reported to the better business bureau. Also, all the weight racks are always busy. People will hog equipment for hours, have chats with friends instead of working out. Not a very friendly community. No one wipes down their equipment. When you bring it up to management they make no attempt to enforce it. The FACT that is this is considered a luxury gym is beyond me. Cause y'all have some west elm furniture and fancy plants? Cause y'all have some scented soaps and lotions in the locker rooms and hot girls manning the front desk? It's all a ruse. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I'm from Cali and a member of 24 hour fitness which there is a ton of locations everywhere, but since moving east 24 hour isn't popular so I had to find a new home. I tried other gyms and Base has been the best. I recently joined a month ago and loved how it reminds me of Equinox (I been a member there too) but less stuffy crowd. A lot of weights and cardio equipment even when busy I don't feel like I have to wait there's always another option. I love the fitness classes just wish they had cycle. I was told they just removed it due to low attendance which is a bummer I'm a cycle girlie. They keep the gym super clean and staff is friendly. The locker rooms have saunas inside and are separated by each genders locker which makes it comfortable due to clothing restrictions (wear a towel around you) and the showers are nice. I also love the smoothie shop attached! Happy I found a great gym to train at. It's pricy but worth it if you want access to a ton of equipment, classes, and amenities. Overall clean environment.

This gymn is a powerhouse of energy and inspiration! Membership to the gymn is on the pricier side but you definitely get bang for the buck. Operating hours span to cover early risers or professionals who prefer to workout after work late into the night. It's a block away from bus & train stops and has plenty of parking available. Base has an app through which one can check-in (with this you can monitor how many times you visited the gymn in a week/month/year - gives bar diagrams!!), enroll for their wide range of group fitness classes (Zumba, yoga, spinning to name a few), get notified about changes in hours of operations during holidays or plumbing activities etc. There is always surplus equipment, some of which can be connected through Bluetooth/WiFi etc. Elegant, colorful decor puts you in a peaceful and a happier mood to workout. The gymn offers personal training, merchandise (gymn wear, smoothie station, prepared meals), IV-drips, chiropractors onsite. For toxin-flush and relaxation after workout, they have sauna, steam rooms and spa massages. There are plenty of lockers, clean towels, bathrooms that come with body soap, shampoo& conditioner. They offer free razors, body lotion & hair dryers. Several janitorial staff are always busy cleaning (bathrooms/equipment) and keeping the area dry. If you are considering this gymn, be sure to take advantage of their free trial period before you sign up for a membership. Each member has 5 guest passes to bring in a friend who has never been at Base.

Way too crowded and hot even in the early morning right when it opens and as mentioned in a few other reviews it always smells terrible. About half of the TVs on the treadmill are broken and don't get a signal (and then there is one weird treadmill that is permanently stuck on Fox News). Gives you an idea of how maintenance at this place goes. Has recently started opening 15+ minutes after its posted opening time of 5am on weekdays, which is terrible for someone like myself who works early and only has a brief window to squeeze a workout in before work. Fees are way too high for what you get. Once my membership expires I think I'm just going to bike to the Crunch in Hoboken instead.

I'm a member from base gym since 2022, and I love the people there. They are very friendly, helpful and thoughtful. It feels like home being apart of the base gym. Also, I've been training with personal Igor for 4 months and he's great personal trainer. Plenty of variety of group classes and 2 hours for free parking. I love going to workout out there!

I may be a bit biased, but as a former Equinox member this is as close as it gets. BASE has a really great group exercise schedule and the instructors are top notch. There are plenty of machines and the layout works for most. Be sure to grab a eucalyptus towel after your workout for a nice rejuvenation! BASE Bar is great for pre or post workouts. All members have been courteous when it comes to wiping down machines. I come to BASE because it's always CLEAN and there's a heavy emphasis on cleanliness. Steam room is good, but aesthetically it's not an Equinox, so don't expect fancy rocks and a spa experience. The steam room is a bit dated for $140 per month. Sauna is spacious and always clean. Overall, I've been able to achieve my fitness goals here and I really enjoy coming here.

Igor is an excel trainer, I have been working with him for a number of years and he has helped me tremendously. I've gotten much stronger and also really improved my golf game with the work we do.

Customer service is okay but the prices are a joke. This is not equinox and not a luxury facility, yet they're charging alarming prices for a standard facility. Doesn't make any sense. Especially since they're so many options in the area.

Best gym ever. My membership came with my residency in 70 Columbus and the gym community is great as everyone from its members, staffs and instructors are friendly, respectful and supportive. They have a variety of classes (HIIT, TRX, Spin, Yoga..etc) and each and every one of them are fun yet challenging, led by great instructors (Kara, Cait, Susan, Sam, Morgan, Maureen....etc) I can't recommend this gym enough!

Beautiful facility but very crowded most times. Typically this would be a 4 star gym but the trainers make being in this space absolutely horrible. Monopolizing equipment, being rude to members who don't purchase training, and refusing to share space. Members look to trainers as an example and unfortunately the ones at Base set a very poor example.

Been going to this gym for almost 6 or 7 years now. It is such a great place celebrating their 9 years being open. There is legit no competition for this place in JC as it blows anything else out of the water so can't recommend it enough!

I've been at Base almost a year and I really love the environment and people. I especially love the spa, Francesca is one of the best massage therapists I've ever been to! She's greatly improved my pain and it's helped my training! Highly recommend!

I love this place. Serious about your health, well-being and friendly just like a family. The gym is always looking to ensure you have the best experience if that's upgrading the locker room to making sure equipment is exactly what you need for a great workout; they've got it. Its not always easy motivating myself to get there but once I'm in, it's the best hour I could have spent. Best massages in Jersey City!

Love everything about this gym. It's a cute boutique gym. Soon as you walk it smells amazing the receptionist are always cheerful. Locker room is super clean and stocked with water, lotion, towels, shaving sticks, shampoo etc. Sauna and steamroom is safe to use and never full. The gym is constantly cleaned every is respectful. Your free to use any of the studios when there's no class and OMG! The classes are so good! The teachers are professional, they set everything up for prior to the class and are super encouraging. I love it here.

Easily the best gym in the city, reasonably priced and a great workout atmosphere with lots of people serious about fitness. Their group classes are challenging and fun they focus on strength training. Changing rooms are super clean with lots of available lockers. Sauna and Spa are spacious and amazing and one of the important part of my workout. Unfortunately its closed because of COVID. Gym is super clean during the corona time and management has done amazing job in term of maintaining social distancing and sensitization. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get in shape. I am certainly satisfied thus far

Expensive but worth the price. It's difficult to find fault with the workout experience here. The staff smile and look like they actually want to be at work here. Patrons are cool too with no over the top antics while lifting/working out. Best in the JC and probably beats a few high end Manhattan gyms too.

I've been a Base member since I moved to Jersey City (4 years) and I've never considered another gym since. Pre-pandemic, I had a morning routine waking up at 6am to workout, shower and get ready for work before hitting the Path. They have great amenities to make it easy to get ready for work plus a steam/sauna room. All of the machines are new and squat racks can get busy but you just have to find the right time to go. Also Base has the best smoothies in Jersey City!

Best gym in Jersey City! Massive gym with every machine possible, clean space, 2 floors, huge locker room with sauna, and also amazing classes offered! I wish they had more morning classes but it seems like most people in jersey city comes to the gym after work so that's when most classes are offered. Recommend this gym if you're looking for one nearby!

1 person staffed to serve food and 3 to just greet people. Stupid management decision in staffing and to top it off they melted my to-go box. Plus gave me attitude when I pointed it out. Jerks.

I've been to base (formerly known as club h) for almost 6 years. Facilities are great. They have extensive equipments and several facilities such as sauna, steam, spin, yoga, game room. They also have classes throughout the day, which are useful for those who needs the extra push from instructors. Locker rooms have been renovated recently and equipped with its own locks. This is definitely a plus as I don't need to bother bringing my own lock. Gym fee is not really cheap but you are getting other benefits. Most recently, the gym stepped up its game by organizing several events such as treating members with free BBQ, food from local restaurants and pool party. I don't believe other gyms bother to splurge these much to their members. One way to get a good deal is to live in 50 or 70 Columbus as the amenity fee includes free Base membership.

I've been going to Base for a few months now, so it's time for a review update! LOVE IT HERE. Committing to something for one year can always be little scary, but I have no regrets about getting a membership. The best part about Base are the classes - sculpt with Susan and burn with Kara are my jam. I've been consistently taking these classes for the past 10 months and have noticed serious differences, especially in the muscle definition in my arms and legs. They each teach these classes 3 times a week so it's not tough to work into your schedule which is great! I'm lucky and can take classes during the day (work from home life, whatsuppp) - the evening classes do fill up much quicker, which is expected. Base constantly updates their schedule which is great. It's nice to know that the schedule won't be the exact same month after month. Although I've been sticking to the same classes there are other classes that I'd like to try more (abs, spin, cardio barre). Love all of the options! Although a membership is a little pricy (100 a month), Base is more than worth it. The facility is extremely spacious and clean, the staff is accommodating and friendly and they have great classes. A trendy HITT / boot camp style / spin class in NYC will run you 40 dollars per sesh (cough soul cycle cough) - so if you take a few classes per month you are absolutely getting your moneys worth. Love base, and I think if I ever had to move away I'd have separation anxiety. So glad I found this gym!

I have been a member at base for 3 years. It is the best gym I have belonged to. The environment is fun, staff is great and it is CLEAN! Thank you Kara for kicking my butt in spin and abs every Wednesday and for always being so upbeat when I run into you. Thank you Dom for making me kick the Monday blues in Spin. Thanks Monica for being a great coach. I wish there were more classes that fit into my schedule to take with you. As long as I am in Jersey City this gym will be my home. Only complaint. Fix the wifi, please. It is awful ;)

I got passes through Yelp for a four day weekend trial for myself and a friend. Unfortunately, we were only able to go one day but even the one day we went was great! We went early on a Sunday to make the 9:30 class of Sweat and Surrender, 75 minute class with 40 minutes of spin and 35 minutes of yoga. When we got to the gym, we were greeted immediately and filled out forms with personal information. The woman behind the desk pointed out where the class and locker rooms are, but didn't give us a full tour. Maybe because they know we are there on a trial or since it was a Sunday, they don't invest in a full tour, but that would have been nice to offer. All other gyms I've been to give the walk through and spiel with amenities. Once we filled out our forms, we inquires about the class and luckily there were 2 spots left! The class itself was great! The instructor has great energy and song choices. Whenever I do spin, the music selection definitely helps me workout harder! The yoga afterwards has great stretches and I felt totally at ease. This is a great class to get your heart pounding but then relaxing afterwards. The gym itself is gorgeous. Locker rooms come with lemon water, sauna, steam rooms, and aveda products in the bathroom! There are towels everywhere and it was very clean. I'm sorry I wasn't able to try the machines, but for a Sunday morning, the gym was decently crowded but still had treadmills available. I would come back for another trial or if my wallet allowed me this gym membership LOL

Just joined here and I'm so glad I did. The facility is beautiful and they offer free parking for up to two hours as long as you get your ticket validated on the way out. The facility is clean and they are always updating different equipment and amenities. May be a bit pricey but you get what you pay for in this instance. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a more upscale gym with a ton of amenities!

I have been a member at Base for more than three years now, my review is overdue! I absolutely love being a member at Base. The facilities are modern and clean, the classes are phenomenal, and the staff is always warm and welcoming. Erin Loizides, the Director of Happiness at Base, assisted me when I first joined the gym. She has always been available to answer any questions that I have, and always with a smile! Whenever I see her, Erin makes it a point to say hello, calls me by my first name (I like the personal touch) and makes me feel at home. As a gym member, I am very pleased with the exceptional level of customer service that she provides. Please make sure to read Erin's Blog of Happiness, I am inspired whenever I read a new posting from her. Kudos to the owner/management for hiring such a stellar employee.
