Decided to try this burger place with my girlfriend I ordered the double patty smash burger with bacon and cheese snd a side of tater tots. My girlfriend ordered a pineapple burger with a side of sweet potato fries. I hate to say it, my burger was super dry. No taste. It was almost like my burgers were premade. My girlfriend’s burger on the other hand was very juicy succulent. The pineapple with the salty patty gave it a . My girlfriend’s burger on the other hand was very juicy succulent. The pineapple with the salty patty gave it Good contrast of flavors. The service was amazing for how busy it was due to a concert at Ford Field.

Came here for the Beast Challenge. Our server was great and cheered me on. The atmosphere of the place is super cool and fits with the vibe of downtown. The food was pretty good. My wife loved her sweet potato fries with their cinnamon butter dipping sauce. The burger for my beast challenge was good. Patties were a tad overcooked which made the challenge a bit more difficult the chili cheese fries were awesome and my milkshake was great. I’d definitely come back here again and would love to try one of their build-your-own burgers.

Google
Peria was awesome!! She was professional and friendly! Her service made my husband and I date night more fun. She had a great personality seeing her service multiple tables making sure we were ok. Enjoyed she had a smile on her face! Smiles on a server face makes service so pleasant!!

Google
tried this place after looking thru reviews. the food was excellent! had a waygu burger with pulled pork onion straws and bbq sauce WOW! the strawberry shake was very good. wife had a smash burger( she not a big burger eater) and she was very impressed. service was top notch. one thing that needs addressed is while walking up the restaurant the homeless camping out in the cubby holes in wall outside building. they made us feel very hesitant to walk past them to get into restaurant

Stephanie Cross

Google
Great spot! We loved all of the appetizers we had. My husband built his own burger and thought it was awesome. The sweet potato fries with the cinnamon butter were sooo good and so are the bbq pork sliders. 🔥 Our server was great as well!

Jen Giffen

Google
When you arrive you are handed a dry erase menu where you check off what you want on your build your own burger. It did not disappoint. Perfectly crisp tater tots, delicious garlic mayo, big portions. Fabulous burgers and milkshakes

Google
Food was good The restaurant and restroom was clean. Greetings, seating and appetizers were good and served in a timely manner But! And I mean a but! Our server took more time to take care of other guest that placed after us in being serviced and servered on a Thursday, btwn 11 & 3pm

Google
Our server was attentive, charismatic, and did a fantastic job at upselling without making it obvious. Food was fantastic. The wait time was way less than anticipated. All around, I really enjoyed and so did the three people I was with that have never been here before. Great family atmosphere thank you!

Yelp
If I could leave more stars I would. The Fries & shine are phenomenal! I also tried the Peanut Burger. That is one unique tasty burger. Jessica's service is top notch. I'm in town for work and will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Had a great pair of burgers here. Both were the stacke 1 pound smash burger... added an over easy egg and swapped American out for Peper Jack. They were swamped and thereby a little slow but damn good offerings and a staff that was hopping!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm so happy I stopped here! Cause I'm definitely coming back for another round of burger I ate it so fast! It came out the kitchen fast as well! Nice and hot and full of flavor! I built my own burger through the menu and the brought it to life! Also not to mention the whole decor going on in there! There were games to play, plenty of seating, clean everything, and the ambiance was just wonderful like I said I'm coming back soon

Yelp
I went down the Detroit with a church group for the tree lighting and had dinner here! I really liked the "create your own burger" type menu, and there was a create your own salad on the back if that was preferred. Overall, great experience! Service was excellent as well. Close to Campus Martius

Yelp
We went here on Detroits 313 day 2024. It was a party of 3, Wednesday a lil after 7pm. A guy greeted us at the door after we stood at the sign that said wait to be seated. He was nice but he honestly didn't look like ger worked there. He sat us at a bar table but my partner asked to be away from the door. So we moved and eventually the guy brought us menus & then a round of waters. This was our first time here by the way. Something white was in my water and i was pissed because I noticed it after i had already took a sip! The plastic cups were old, chipped and not so clear. We were ready to order fast but no one ever came to the table. It is a burger spot so it shouldn't be that bad... We walked out. Not staff member said anything. Idk who was supposed to be our waiter. Just seemed odd!

Yelp
If you want to wait out the crowds and traffic getting out of downtown, make this your go to stop for a great burger after the game. We put our names in expecting a 30 min wait. Our table was ready in 5 mins. The place was busy but well-staffed. Our server wasn't the greatest but the food made up for it. Build you own burger, shake, appetizer. The menu is small but the customizations are incredible! We chowed down and enjoyed every single bite. Full bar and it was packed. We caught the end of the game on their many TVs so every seat in the place wouldn't miss a min. It's very loud and bright in the dining area. Great casual atmosphere with a lot of energy.

Yelp
We was riding the people mover in Detroit and saw the sign so I thought we should try it out. We was greeted when we first arrived. Our waitress Amanda explained the menu and we made our choices. I did the BYB Bison Burger and full fries and it was awesome.

Emma C.

Yelp
The staff was friendly but took an hour and a half to seat our party. The tables were ended up being sat at were open the whole time we waited. We did have a larger party with us so we understood not wanting to overwhelm the kitchen, but they still could have seated us instead of making us wait so long. There's an automatic 18% gratuity that isn't openly shared. Food was decent but my husband's smash burger was clearly not a smash burger, they forgot our shake, and the chicken to someone's salad. On the plus side, they did have good drinks.

Yelp
Great find in Detroit with massive burgers full of flavor and the service was fantastic. Our waitress was both friendly and provided great service, that was quick and very personable. Definitely will be back with coworkers or family.

Elaine J.

Yelp
Great place. Wonderful service, great beers and I love the falafel burger. We enjoy getting lunch here every time we're in Detroit.

Yelp
With so many options, Basement Burger Bar's. Build your own burger menu is sure to please everyone, and that includes vegetarians. I am not sure that they have a vegan bun, but they do also have a build your own salad menu that is as extensive as the build your own burger menu. At my last visit, I had the hummus with naan and vegetables appetizer and the impossible burger on a pretzel bun. Both were delicious! Service is invariably top notch and the spare furnishings with local Detroit are the perfect setting for a good meal.

Alex D.

Yelp
I love the concept of this place. Food was great and the service was good as well. It wasn't too busy when I went.
google avatar

Yelp
A local fan (Red Wing) favorite to dine at. I like the unique menu where you use a dry erase marker to decide how you want the burger cooked, toppings to add and the type of bun. The burger was delicious and perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed the sweet potato fries with a complimentary brown sugar sauce to dip in. The onion rings weren't anything special and will do without next time. Great burger spot & will be back again.

Yelp
Arrived at 6pm and parked on the street right by the door. Greeted as we walked in and sat immediately. Our server was friendly enough but tended to talk as she walked by our table so we weren't sure if she was talking to us or not. We both ordered burgers and they were good and prepared the way we wanted them. Tots and onion rings were definitely frozen from a bag. They are still adding an 18% gratuity to the bill which is a shame because I normally give 20%. The hours are not the same as what we're listed online, they close at 8pm. The servers were collecting salt and pepper shakers at 7:15 so I was feeling rushed even though they were still seating people.

Yelp
This place was knows how to cook a real burger! Lots of options and all kinds of combos you can create. There fried pickles "frikles" were the best I've ever had.
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
Closed an hour early. Walked from my hotel Lied to about the grill being shutdown at 9:15 when I I arrived at 9:08. Just booooooooooo wack
google avatar

Chris N.

Yelp
Great food, friendly people. I got onion rings but I might opt for tator tots. Fun place to watch the game.

Shirley L.

Yelp
What an out of the way, unique place for burgers! Child friendly as well. Love the idea of a "build a burger" concept by using menus and erasable markers. Check off what you want and how you want it cooked and viola! Burgers and sides arrived hot and freshly made. First time visiting Detroit and we found a gem.
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Ample street parking available during the slower hours. They have a great menu of burgers however you can build your own which is what we did. The 1/2 order of the sides is more than enough for 1 person; get a full order only when sharing. Burgers were made exactly how we requested and they were delicious. It's a good place for a good burger and beer
google avatar

Shannah H.

Yelp
This is a very good burger. Very good! The wait staff are helpful in navigating the menu (build your own? Order a preset? Who knows?) and helping you make wise beer choices from the several on tap. The husband also ordered a shake and loved it. Make sure you ask them to bring it at the end - if that's what you want - otherwise it will by default come with the main meal.

Yelp
A good friend of mine and I came here to play catch up a few days after my surgery. I'd heard great things about the food here but hadn't been here before. We each built our burgers using Waygu Kobe beef and shared an appetizer sampler consisting of wings, pretzels and mozzarella cheese sticks. It was great to get out into the fresh air with great company and food!
google avatar

Becca W.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday afternoon and was not too busy, looked like they were short staffed but didn't change how it made us feel. The menus are cool cause it's dry erase so you know they are getting cleaned in between people which is awesome. We both got burgers and shakes and man they were definitely worth it. Shakes we're made to perfection and same with the burgers love the feel of the place, will be back for sure.

Yelp
The garbage burger (pictured) was delicious to the last bite. Gotta try the POG as well if you like a flavor-forward lager. Also, the bartender, Jessica, was very kind and attentive.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch before going to Tiger game. To start off our server Rachel was fantastic. Helpful with the menu explained how everything worked with us being first timers. I had the River Edge Kolsch tall then a short beer. Really enjoyed that beer. I had the BYO burger, waygu beef, lettuce, red onion, smoked Gouda, smoked catsup, chipotle mustard on a brioche bun. It was cooked to the temp I wanted. Very good. Had hand cut fries, also good. Very nice place to go if your going to eat before a game .

Yelp
I had this Detroit Card for the longest time so I decided to finally put it to use. I saw some really great reviews and stopped by this restaurant. We were seated right away and the waitress came over to ask what drinks we wanted. We decided to order the pretzels. My husband got the cheese and I got the cinnamon sugar. The pretzels were so hot and fresh. They tasted amazing. They paired really well with the sugar. My husband really liked the cheese though. I would come back again just because of this delicious prtezels. We both built our own burger and got a side of fries. I got chili and cheese on my fries. I was so full from the pretzels and burgers that I could hardly finish the fries. They were super crispy and they loaded them with chilli cheese. The burger was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Everything was really good and our waitress stopped by our table multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. The next time I come in I want to try the mozarrela sticks!

Yelp
Cool little spot on Brush in Detroit. Sat quickly and attended to almost immediately. Shake was delicious they use Hudsonville Ice Cream..so good! The turkey burger was all white meat yet flavorful and juicy, my daughter had a beef burger that looked delicious as well. The BBQ pulled pork Tachos were on point . Be aware that this is an ala carte build your burger place so it cans add up quickly $$$. But it's so worth it. Also gratuity is automatically added to your bill. Enjoy.

Yelp
My visit to to this restaurant was nothing short of amazing. The menu is varied as are the drinks. BTW, Happy Hour is M-F from 3-6PM Eastern. I visited for a late lunch and was not disappointed. We started with Chicken Quesadillas that were well made and so good that I had to have another order to go! I also enjoyed a Black Bean Burger. For the burgers and other food items, you order it the way you like it by marking desired options on the wipe-away menu with a black marker. I ordered mine on a bun and added cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and banana peppers with the red pepper mayo and it was divinely delicious. My side was sweet potato fries that were served with cinnamon butter - oooooweee, I shouldn't have, but I did! Service was great in fact, for all of the tables that were occupied. I had no issues with my restaurant visit and it was a short walk to my location.

Yelp
If your in Detroit and looking for a burger place, try this. You won't get disappointed. Highly recommend.

John T.

Yelp
The Bison wasn't the best I've had. We were very disappointed in the taste. And price. The service is good.
google avatar

Denise Z.

Yelp
I enjoyed the concept of building your own burger and was excited that they had alternatives to red meat including black beans, Impossible and mushrooms. But the black bean burger was really bland and dry. It definitely needed a sauce of some kind. The sweet potato fries were good, crispy and evenly cooked. It was okay. A good spot for a crew lunch close to the Music Hall.

Sara H.

Yelp
Absolutely love the burgers here. It is fun being able to build my burger out salad the way I want with whatever toppings. Perfect joint to hit up before a sporting event. Very filling and a cool atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Sign in foyer says masks are optional for vaccinated. Given a laminated menu. Price of drinks is not included. A coctail & can of beer were $9 each. Can build your own burger/ salad or choose from optioned menu. Can of beer was given with no glass. Food arrived fairly fast.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Although my Wagyu beef burger came severely overcooked, they realized the error of their ways, corrected them and brought me one of the most juicy and delicious burgers I've had quite a while. My daughter, her boyfriend and I spent the evening playing trivia there (and winning!), and had a blast!
google avatar

Wendy S.

Yelp
Excellent service so far! My server was knowledgeable about the beer/cider selections as well as the menu. I am looking forward to trying the mushroom cap "burger." Gluten free bun and salads are available as well as a significant list of proteins to choose from. The bar is stocked well!
google avatar

V T.

Yelp
Totchos are delicious. Service is pretty good but it felt like customers are rushed a bit. Still, I would return.
google avatar

Tara S.

Yelp
Run, don't walk, this place is phenomenal. I did the build your own salad and it was the best salad I've ever had. The chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I was absolutely stuffed and still had a ton of it leftover. The bartender was so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Shira E.

Yelp
The burgers were good but I found mine to be a bit too salty. French fries were ok but I'm not a fan of steak fries. Service was friendly and prompt even though it was crowded.
google avatar

Joel C.

Yelp
Great burger, best food I got in Detroit and decent beer list, tho taps don't taste like they get poured alot. Probably stick to cans.
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
We went for lunch as we work nearby (business lunch). I like the reusable menus as they are handy for each customer to design their own hamburger. The food was delicious and our waitress was very good. If you're nearby, I highly recommend stopping by.
google avatar

Lorraine F.

Yelp
I loved this place and am mad at myself for waiting so long to there. It's definitely going to be in my regular rotation for a good burger from now on! You get a menu that's a dry erase...and you fill it out for your own specific burger and sides!!! You can do the same with a salad or pizza. There are plenty of things for the veggie eaters! Service was great....the food was very good!! I was there at Christmas time so I had a peppermint White Russian! They have a full bar and a decent selection of beer and wine.
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
Great vibe, solid food, excellent service. Large drink menu and beers on tap. Small dining area, so we ate at the bar.

Jeff Calasara C.

Yelp
Impossible Burger was Juicy and Tender Customer Service is aweome And I love it its unique and have A 7 ft pool diamond Table

Sara T.

Yelp
Let's just say the food was good but I cannot give Basement Burger Bar more than 1 star. We ate at the downtown Detroit location tonight. But unfortunately we were scammed tonight by our waitress. She was very sweet though... We ordered 2 burgers and fries and onion rings etc. The works, and it was great food! My husband ordered a Margarita and I ordered a gin and tonic. Since I didn't specify any specific gin, it is usually assumed it's always a rail gin. NOT Hendricks. Definitely not $12! Yikes. Then on top of that, 18% gratuity is included. Believe me, we always tip at least 20%, usually more - but tonight made us very sad. The food was great, but unfortunately for us we will not be back because of the fraudulent way they raise the bill. We are sad for the Azar brothers who own this restaurant.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
Well, we had already had a full day of drinking and he never got his breakfast. So we decided that we had better eat or risk being too drunk to enjoy ourselves. This was a very convenient spot located right across from where we were parked. I ordered the amazing fries with Feta. That is all I need in life. Feta cheese makes me happy. We devoured them. This spot is a fairly typical burger joint but the food was quite good. And just what we needed. Dinner was not until after 8 so this snack worked. I wouldn't come out of my way to come here but I do think people should give it a try if they are in the area.
google avatar

Miles P.

Yelp
This place was surprisingly amazing! Service was great! I really liked how you got to use a marker to select all of the options that you wanted for either your burger or a salad. Made ordering super convenient. The food came out extremely fast and was delicious! I was a little bummed that they closed at 8pm on a Saturday because after we were done working at the Supercross race, we were all looking forward to going there for a bite to eat. Overall a 10/10.
google avatar

Karol C.

Yelp
So, this burger bar was just "ok" for me. I like various aspects of the business, but not enough to return. The burger and tots were both good, but I expected "great". The restaurant/bar has a cool feel to it. I also like the ordering format and choices.
google avatar

Jim U.

Yelp
The burgers are pretty tall but we're really good. Mine was slightly overcooked, but not a huge deal. The one memorable thing from this visit are the chairs. They are INCREDIBLY LOUD when slid or moved at all across the floor. The sound echos through the entire restaurant. I couldn't hear my conversation so I had to stop talking every time one moved. We got 2 burgers and a full order of fries with no drinks and our bill was just under $30.
google avatar

Dana D.

Yelp
The best start to a Jonas Brothers pregame is a delicious meal. Even though it was a 10 minute walk from our hotel I would've walked 20. This little restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, and first glance of the inside doesn't impress you right away. However, once you try the food it does all the talking. The menu reminds me of Barrio (shoutout Cleveland) style of ordering but for burgers. There are a lot of different options to choose from. I kept my burger pretty simples, but the garlic mayo is really what I couldn't stop thinking about. There were plenty of other normal and funky options to top off too. A great place to a delicious and reasonably priced meal!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely love the concept of this place!!!! Build your own salad, burger, and shake.... FEED ME NOW!!! I love that on the burger you can pick everything from the bun to the paddy to the cheese and condiments!!! Being indecisive, it took me a little time to figure out what direction I wanted to go in and how much I wanted to spend on my toppings (I was drawn to the more expensive ones like Mac & cheese bites) but once I made my selections I wasn't disappointed (I even ate my leftovers cold)! I ended up picking the brioche bun (classic), medium well ground beef (cooked perfectly), smoked Gouda cheese (should have picked a stronger cheese like blue cheese but still good), bbq pulled pork (hearty & delicious), sweet bbq sauce, caramelized onions (I can't do bbq without these), and bacon!!! And of course when I see tots, I have to get them! I even saved room to split an Oreo cheesecake shake! Yes, you can mix & match shake flavors too!! I will for sure be back next time I'm in town!
