A Couple Drinks

Google
Basi was by far one of the best recommendations we’ve ever gotten. From start to finish, everything we tried was incredible. We started with the grilled artichoke carpaccio, and honestly, we are still trying to find the words to describe how amazing it was. Just unforgettable. We also had the mussels, which were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, however, the broth could use more seasoning. For mains, the butter-poached cod was exactly that: buttery in the best way. Every bite was rich and delicious. We also had the NY Strip Steak, which was a menu special. We ordered it medium rare but it came out rare — but that made it even better. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the pepper on top had this sweet and salty balance that worked so well. Dessert was lemon ricotta gelato and cannolis, always a win. The only small downside was that the space felt a bit hot and loud, and the chairs weren’t the most comfortable, but the food was so good it didn’t really matter. We’ll definitely be back… mostly because we can’t stop thinking about that artichoke.

Excellent food and service. Went on a humid evening and patio could've used another fan. Looking forward to 2nd visit. Lamb chops were amazing!

Google
Such a gem! We booked a reservation and staff was excellent at keeping us up to date as our original reservation had a wait list. After a few days they let us know we could sit inside which worked for us. Parking could be difficult as there is mostly parallel on street parking nearby but they do have an option for valet which was about the same cost as parking anyways. Inside dining is a bit tight but it works as we were all comfortable at our table. We didn't go to the patio but next time we'd like to give that a try. The food was fantastic. I'm so glad we have an actual Italian restaurant to go to besides the big chains. I had the lamb which was amazing and cooked perfectly. Appetizers were great and so was the dessert. Take a look at some of the photos and start drueling! We will definitely be coming back!

Google
We had a wonderful experience. Angela was our waitress and she was phenomenal. Food was great and we loved the outdoor seating. We had the zucchini appetizer, we both loved it. I had the eggplant Parmesan and my husband had the rigatoni. For dessert we had the chocolate truffle balls, all amazing!!

Google
This place is always fantastic. Enjoyed mussels and the halibut and my partner got spaghetti and meatballs (off menu), all great. Not pictured is the beet salad- was okay but really heavy on the walnut pesto which had a weird texture. Would probably get a different salad next time. Update: went back this summer and the pesto is incredible. Tomatoes are really flavorful right now so make sure to order lots of those. The outdoor patio is real charming. There is plenty of paid street parking for $3/ hour or you can get valet for $10. The service is always great here but my favorite server is Jess. Returned in January 2025. Jess is still the best. The eggplant parm is by far my favorite. Had the cannoli for dessert- very good but my fav is still the tiramisu.

Google
Food was really good. Nice balance of acid, salt and fat. Vegetables were cooked perfectly. I wish the anchovies were mixed in the dressing.

Google
We came here for a little date night hoping to get some good food and really good desserts and our expectations were exceeded! The staff was super nice, the food was so individualistic and tasted amazing, not to mention presentation was great. The drinks were also really good, I got the sangria and my partner got the margarita and an espresso martini. We also got two appetizers, both were so good and really filling. We shared the branzino as a main and the kitchen even split it for us. We got dessert to go since everything else was so filling, but only the brûlée and cannolis travelled well, I would suggest trying the apple pie in house. I plan to take family here when they’re visiting!

Yelp
Stepping into Basi feels like you were teleported to a quaint family run restaurant in the heart of small town Italy. It appears to be an old house turned restaurant with only a handful of tables, which provides a very intimate setting. The seating is spread between a small indoor dining area, side patio, and back terrace. We made a reservation and our table was ready right when we arrived. We sat on the back terrace which is fully covered overhead but open to the outdoors on the sides which kept things cool. The menu boasts a mix of Italian & Mediterranean inspired entrees, which I'm guessing rotate regularly as there are only a handful of options. That said, there seems to be something for every palate (chicken, fish, beef, vegetarian). I tried the pan seared halibut and my SO got the chianti braised beef short ribs. Both were excellent. The others at the table also really enjoyed their dishes. Lastly, our server Sunny was attentive and friendly. All in all we really enjoyed our experience at Basi. Be warned that street parking in Italian Village can be somewhat hard to come by depending on the time, and it requires you to download an app to use properly. That said, there was a "Valet for $10" sign right outside the restaurant, so that is an option as well.

Yelp
The food, the atmosphere, the service.... I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could. The special was amazing. We loved our cocktails. The tiramisu was devine.

Yelp
Basi Italia is a small intimate spot tucked away in Victorian Village. The ambiance was lovely - very charming, cozy, and perfect for a date night. The service was excellent - our waitress was attentive & helpful. To start off we ordered a bottle of the Cetamura Chianti and the basi ceasar. The wine was great and the ceasar was fantastic! For my entree, I ordered the rigatoni salumeria. It was good but I wasn't overly impressed. My boyfriend ordered the prosciutto wrapped pork tenderloin which we both enjoyed.

Yelp
Delicious food, amazing servers, and a beautiful, peaceful ambiance. Reminds me of a restaurant in New York City. A unique dining experience in Columbus! The food is unbelievable. You can't go wrong with the Eggplant Parmesan!! Also try the desserts!

Yelp
A hidden gem! Basi is a small local restaurant hidden between Harrison West and Victorian Village. There are both static and dynamic items on the menu, depending on season. And, it's all great! The service is top notch. You can sit indoors, outdoors/on the back patio with a cover. It's super cozy and cute with great wine bottle options. You could come and enjoy wine and cheese, or enjoy the full experience of their apps, entrees, desserts, and wine. There is an indoor and outdoor bar area that are first come first serve, but they are cozy. Highly recommend a reservation - as that's the only way you'll likely get in, on most nights. Parking is parallel parking on the streets nearby. Enjoy!

Yelp
We have been coming to Columbus for years now and Basi Italia is probably the best restaurant the city has to offer. Whether it's the incredibly charming environment - it is like visiting your Italian grandmother's house, whether on the garden terrace or inside - or the unbelievably well done food, you should definitely make this a priority stop if you're in town. Our server was very friendly and the staff were very accommodating in terms of making an effort to get us in. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Hands down the best Italian we've had in Ohio! The atmosphere, the food, and service was impeccable! This is definitely a hidden gem near OSU, and can be missed easily! For food we ordered a stretchy cheese appetizer which was really good! Almost like a build your own bruschetta. For dinner we had the rigatoni and chicken. Both dishes were super flavorful but the pesto they used with the chicken was outstanding! The best part of our dinner was the crème brûlée ! It was delicious!

Yelp
I was able to get a reservation here around 8:00 PM on Saturday 02/17 (which surprised me because it was Valentine's Day weekend). We arrived and entered to find that the main part of the restaurant was about 10 tables in a small house. We were taken out around to the back patio which was totally covered for the winter months and heated in. The waitress came over after about 5 minutes and we ordered water and a bottle of wine. We got arancini to start, which were very good but nothing that made it stand out from other arancinis I have had. For our mains, I got the ricotta gnocchi. This was very good, but the star of the show was the vegetables instead of the gnocchi. The gnocchi lacked flavor and I found it okay. The vegetables were amazing and saved the dish for me. My boyfriend liked his food also. It was very expensive, and I have heard so much about this restaurant. I was slightly let down, but I don't know why. My expectations were probably too high. I liked it, but I'm not dying to come back. Glad I tried it!

Yelp
Beautiful, cozy, romantic location. Service was personal, prompt, and our waitress easily explained dishes to us. Food quality and portions are excellent. Food is so fresh, flavors blend in very thoughtful and unique dishes. It started pouring rain while we were enjoying dessert. What a lovely experience, we will be back and highly recommend.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience at Basi in Victorian Village. This cozy little spot is tucked away in an alley a short walk from the Short North and thusly can be referred to as a hidden gem. When we arrived, we were greeted immediately and promptly shown to our seats. We were offered the choice of a seat in the main dining area or on the (heated) back porch area. We chose the porch area--it was very cozy with quiet conversation and fairy lights strung from the ceiling. Our waitress was very sweet and offered us several selections and was very patient when we had a tough time making up our minds. We got cocktails which were all very good, and we started with the flatbread and the beet salad which were also well appointed. Finally, our main courses came. These were really the stars of the show. I will say... we were only able to eat about 1/3 of them. The food was incredibly rich but also unbelievably delicious. Definitely will be returning in the future!

Yelp
If you're reading reviews for Basi, you should just go ahead and make a reservation now. As an Italian girl who avoids carbs, a visit to an Italian restaurant is either difficult, or it's a special treat. Basi is definitely my go-to for either. It's teeeeeny tiny on the inside, with a larger patio, so I'd call this a summer restaurant in a lot of ways... though the first couple of times I went, we sat at the corner in the bar because we couldn't get a table. It's dimly lit and comfortable inside, and the service feels upscale and attentive. The hosts greet each guest immediately and take you to your table. I have sat on the outer edge of the patio a couple of times, and my server has been Whitney both times. I am terrible with names, but I remember hers because she is a great server. I've tried the caesar salad, the beet salad, the mussels, the eggplant, the scallops, and the other night tried the salmon with mashed potatoes and shrimp scampi special. The summer scallop dish was wrapped with bacon and served over a mix of strawberries and parsnip puree. Inventive! All dishes I have tried are delicious. My friend is still talking about the eggplant parm and how perfect it was and we tried it probably 2 months ago. The drink menu is limited, but they do it well. The old fashioned is classicly perfect and the blood orange margarita they have had on special this summer is excellent. But it's really a good spot for a wine pairing with your meal, instead. It's casual-chic and somewhat pricey, but you'll leave with that "I just ate a meal in a quaint town in the mediterranean" feeling. Just go :)

Yelp
This place is tucked away- we tried it on our 10th anniversary and I'm so happy we did. It's small and special. The staff are awesome and our waitress-Chelsea was very sweet. We sat inside but the patio looked very cozy. 10/10 you should try this.

Yelp
I had the red wine braised beef short ribs. (See pic) Very tender but I'd get the rosemary grilled lamb chops. My friend had them and they were delicious. Those cannolis man oh man were sooooo good. Overall really good food and atmosphere. Sonni was our server and she was amazing. Would recommend to go at least once. I will be back for those lamb chops.

Yelp
Love the ambiance of this place! It was very homey and cozy, the staff was very friendly and attentive. We started off with the mussels, the sauce was delicious. We ordered more bread to eat with the sauce! I wasn't too impressed with the arancini, the sauce was very sweet, and I didn't think the flavors went too well together. For the entree, I ordered the white fish fish (it was seasonal) and it was good, but I wasn't too impressed by it. It was lacking flavor, the Parmesan risotto it came with was good. The mocha crème brûlée was the best part of the meal. It was so delicious! They have so many cocktails, wines and beer to choose from as well. I think in the summer, when they open the patio up, it would be a great place to visit!

Yelp
Basi Italia was amazing the staff and overall service was amazing. The restaurant reminded me of a small quaint house. But the lighting and atmosphere was so peaceful at times I thought I was home. I came here to celebrate my birthday and I couldn't have asked for a better birthday dinner. The grilled lamb chops were perfect and deliciously cooked! I almost cried when the waiter took my plate away. The food was amazing. I can bet you 1,000 dollars that you won't be disappointed in visiting Basi Italia

Yelp
There's so much to like about Basi. Friendly staff, nice patio and great Italian food. With a party of two, I had the opportunity to try multiple dishes and really left with a great impression. I had both the Barrel Aged Old Fashioned which has a rather unique flavor and their seasonal Blueberry Margarita. The Margarita was delightful! Sangria was fine, but the Caesar Salad was 'okayest' thing I had - partially because of the buyer's remorse I had after seeing how good the Roasted Beet salad looked and hearing from other patrons how good it was. The Fresh Stracchino Cheese was a hidden star. Every component was individually excellent and it all blended together wonderfully. Main dish wise, the Eggplant Parmesan was good and it was helped by the side of spaghetti pesto that comes with it. The Rigatoni Salumeria was really good at the restaurant, and the leftovers of it that I had were somehow better! Speaking of leftovers, the portions for most things there are healthy. The prices of their pasta and meat dishes are also 'healthy' (but short of exorbitant), and I think that's a combo that most people will be fine making given the quality. The meals were topped off with tiramisu and vanilla cannolis, the latter of which being the surprising victor. They add a crunchy buckeye to every dessert which is a fun touch. I definitely recommend Basi for a nice night out at a Victorian Village gem.

Yelp
I have lived in Columbus my entire life and just recently learned about this restaurant. The patio is such a hidden gem and a 10/10 experience itself. The food is another huge plus to this restaurant, the quality and flavor is so apparent in every bite. I will say, I do think it's overpriced for Italian food, but it is delicious so I can justify it for more special occasions. Can't wait to come back and try more items! You need a reservation and it books weeks in advance for popular times. The pesto was my favorite pesto I've ever had!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Small spot tucked away in a neighborhood. Finding parking was a challenge but well worth it. Sat at the bar. Bartender was amazing with handmade craft cocktails to offer. Highly recommend the blood orange margarita. Started with a cold tomato gazpacho. It had some of the best flavors I've ever had in a soup. The menu was very limited and everything I saw looked amazing and everyone around me raved about their dishes. The service was also top notch. Server took the time to explain everything and give great feedback. It's a must try hidden gem.

Yelp
smoked chicken carbonara was a solid 9/10 the flavor was great. service was good and overall a relaxed vibe.

Yelp
I've wanted to dine here ever since randomly driving past many years ago and wondering what was this cute little restaurant tucked away in the alley?! Last night I finally got the chance and it did not disappoint! The place is super small and we made our reservations about a month in advance so definitely plan ahead. Our table was not quite ready when we arrived so they offered us a seat at the bar inside and got us started with drinks. I had the Blood Orange Margarita which was quite tasty! We were then seated on the beautiful back patio. Most of it is covered and looks like they can block it in for bad weather/winer time. There are only a handful of tables inside. We started off with the Fresh Stracchino Cheese which came with the most delicious fresh, warm bread. We ate every last bit. For the main course, I had the Grilled Chicken Scaloppine which was to die for. And was every bit as good when I ate the leftovers for lunch today! My husband had their Halibut special and loved it as well. Service was top notch all the way around and the food was outstanding. This is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or enjoy a lovely date night!
google avatar

Chelsea A.

Yelp
Everything about my first experience at Basi was fantastic. The service was great. The dish I got was amazing and both of the two cocktails I tried were wonderful. The patio has to be one of the best in Columbus, we didn't get the best seats which means we will have to go back and try for better seats! Regardless we will definitely be back. Not sure how the restaurant manages in the winter though because it's pretty tiny inside!
google avatar

Mary Beth C.

Yelp
Fantastic as always. We ordered the lamb, which my husband loved, and the chicken scallopini. Service was incredible. The patio is always great-perfect date night restaurant. They even put a candle in my (amazing) creme brluee for my birthday. 5/5 as always.
google avatar

Yelp
I simply cannot put into words how great of a place this restaurant is. The food was absolutely superb. For a celebration dinner, we ended up getting a six course meal with some drinks strewn in. Let's just say I was so satisfied that I am not sure I will be able to eat for the next couple of days. The service was phenomenal. The patio was just a perfect little backyard spot in the Victorian Village. Quite possibly the best restaurant I have had the pleasure of dining in Columbus. The pictures do not do it justice.

Yelp
As you already know, we decided to make Summer 2023 the season of patio dining! We continued our weekly visit of patios of Columbus by visiting BASI in the Victorian VILLAGE. This out of the way (you'd never know its there) quaint and casually sophisticated restaurant sits between Dennison and Neil avenues and what seems miles away from the hustle and bustle of Victorian Village (imagine a German Village type of vibe). First off, let me stress the need for reservations. Reservations are mandated by the restaurant and deservedly so. The patio which is tucked behind the establishment is not so much tiny as it is comfortably cozy. There is a tiny bar for those who want to eat sans reservation. We skipped the appetizer offerings and went right to the entrees. One special that was not listed on the menu was pork medallions wrapped in prosciutto. Omg omg omg! Did I mention that they had me at pork medallions?!? My date had the grilled chicken scallopini. The meals arrived quite quickly were visually beautiful. Both dishes were absolutely tasty! The pork medallions were juicy and the accompanying veggies were fabulously seasoned. The chicken scallopini was also very very tasty! We both gave our meals two thumbs up and we know for a fact that at some point, we will return to Basi. And I would be remiss not to mention how great our waitperson treated us. Sunny, was a joy. And we would return to Basi simply because she is employed there (in addition to a fabulous meal)! Kudos to you Sunny! Kudos to Basi!! Do yourself a favor (you know you deserve it) and get yourself over to this hidden gem in Victorian village. You'll be glad you did!

Yelp
Really delicious. We couldn't get a reservation but lucked out and sat at the bar. Our waitress (Whitney?) was awesome. As attentive as you'd want someone to be. We had the arancini to start and then my husband had fish and I had rigatoni. Everything was delicious. Loved how cozy it was.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent dinner start to finish. We were greeted with the friendliest staff upon entry. They were running a bit behind so our table wasn't quite ready but they escorted us to the outside patio bar (through the kitchen since it was raining outside) and set us up with some wine and the fresh mozzarella. The bartender out there was so nice and sampled us a few wines so we could get exactly what we were looking for. The slingshot cab sauv she recommended is not only delicious, it's a great value at $35 a bottle. We got a bottle to share. The outside seating is covered and heated with blankets and cute lights, which made it quite cozy despite the rain. I'm sure it's magnificent in the summer. We requested to sit inside and they were able to accommodate right after we finished up our fresh mozzarella appetizer (a must try... the cheese over the balsamic and carrot purée is unique). They helped move all of our stuff inside and we carried on with our entrees. We got mussels for the table, and I got the chicken carbonara. Mussels were good (I rarely dislike them) but nothing too special. The toast was great with the sauce. My husband got the lamb chops and my friend ordered the eggplant parmesan. I tried everything and there was not one thing I disliked. The chicken carbonara comes with lightly breaded, perfectly prepared chicken. The sauce was amazing. My friend's eggplant parmesan was some of the best she's had (and she's had a lot because she's vegetarian). I had a taste and it had a nice crispness to it. Husband enjoyed his lamb chops. The chive mash and mushroom under the lamb was decadent. Great service, food and value. I also love that the menu is pared down so you know everything they're serving is deliberate / thought out. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place is tiny, but they do an amazing job with the little space they have. They cover their patio in the winter and seat people out there, so wear a light jacket. The wine selection is awesome, but they have a full bar and make an excellent espresso martini as well! We got the stracchino cheese as a starter, which was fabulous, please get this if you go. For our meal, my husband and I shared the egg plant Parmesan and the truffle flatbread. Both were phenomenal and I would recommend. My brothers got the sausage pasta and weren't particularly impressed but loved the steak. Lastly for dessert we were celebrating my birthday and got the cannolis and truffles which were also great. Pick the appetizer of cheese over the dessert only if you HAVE to choose. Overall, this place was lovely and is a great place to enjoy some tasty Italian food.

Yelp
Went in for my Anniversary dinner. We loved our experience. We reserved the table a day before. We were seated in the enclosed patio. The atmosphere was romantic, classy and cozy. We were served complimentary champagne on our arrival. The place is comparetively pricy but everything was worth the money. Loved everything we ordered the appetizer, entree, dessert and cocktails. We had the fresh mozzarella from their appetizer menu it was our favorite so far it a well balanced dish it had sweetness from carrot puree & grape sava, tanginess from cherry tomatoes, softness from the mozzarella and crispness from the grilled Baggett. Ordered butter porched cod from the entree menu it was flaky and buttery. Loved the yummy peach and plum costada it was served with the vanilla gelato and tasted heavenly. I loved the place and service was quick. I would definitely be coming back to this place again.

Yelp
Excited to finally try some of the dishes here. It took a little planning with making a reservation and finding parking. Our server was really kind and attentive and we sat at a quiet table in the back of the restaurant. I really enjoyed the mussels and fresh cheese. There really weren't any dishes I tried and didn't like.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a hidden gem! Their patio is so nice!! And our waitress was so fun. I got the eggplant parm and it was so good. I'm very picking with marinara sauce and theirs is perfect

Yelp
Dined at Basi Italia for the first time yesterday for a memorable Valentines meal. While there was a special menu, they offered a number of their regular items to choose from. Started off with Fried Clams that were presented in a fabulous broth. The Zucchini Pronto was excellent and plenty for two to share. We ordered Prosciutto Wrapped Scallops and the Beef Short Rib that were both delicious. We ordered a bottle of Amarone that went well with everything we ordered, and the price was very reasonable. We will definitely be coming back to Basi in the future!

Yelp
Basi is a cute, quaint Italian restaurant. We had heard rave reviews about their food so we decided to check them out. Their seating is limited so reservations were slim and we had to make a reservation like 3-4 weeks out. Upon arrival, we sat at the bar inside while waiting for our table out on the patio. The inside had about 6 tables and nobody was sitting inside (rightfully so as it was a nice evening). We grabbed a drink and headed out to our table. We got the bread/cheese appetizer and it was BOMB. The bread was super fresh and tasty and the cheese/sauce that came with it was reallllly good as well and there was ALOT of it. So much of it that my wife and I were COATING out bread to the limit in the cheese and vinaigrette type sauce and needed to ask for more bread to finish it up. Given that this is an Italian restaurant and they are known for that, I really wanted to get Italian food, but they had a halibut dish on special so I decided to go with that. It has to be a top 3 fish dish that I have had ever. It was perfectly cooked. The cream sauce it was in was to die for. It was simply AMAZING. I tried my wife's chicken sacallopine and really enjoyed it as well. I definitely would like to come back and get an Italian dish next time but like I said, the halibut special just sounded too delicious to pass up and I wasn't wrong about that. This place is definitely worth the wait to get in. Just pick a night, book it in advance and count down the days until you get to try this place out. Definitely one of the best out there. Service was incredible. Food was delicious. Drinks were good. What more could you ask for?

Yelp
Basi is very good but very small. I like the romantic atmosphere and the food is perfect for a date night! Don't bring the kids here, it's still just too small for that kind of thing. Cramped for any party bigger than 4 I would think, unless they let you have the whole inside or something like that. I loved it and want to go back for more.
google avatar

Hanna N.

Yelp
Enjoyable experience. My food was delicious and the ambience was cozy and comfortable. We ordered what felt like the whole menu. Quite a great deal of GF options. Thank you! I will be back.
google avatar

Mia Z.

Yelp
Terrible experience here. I had my birthday dinner- waiter took at least 15minutes to come to our table, then forgot drinks which we had to remind her of. I was understanding until our food (for four people) took over an hour to come and our server consistently said it would be 'any minute' and 30 minutes would pass. I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately I just can't. The food wasn't that great either, even though I've heard otherwise. I really had high expectations but they just didn't match up. We also got a pretty bad table, and I even sent an email saying it was my birthday. Overall, I wouldn't return... it sucks to see all these great reviews when I had a pretty awful experience. Just go at your own risk ‍
google avatar

Payal P.

Yelp
It was date night. We sat inside, as outdoor seating was just opening up for the season. We sat pretty close to others indoors. We enjoyed the flatbread MORE than we enjoyed our entrees, it was delicious!! I would go back for that alone. As a vegetarian, there were a lot of options. Tiramisu was delicious. Such a great little place, I highly recommend!

Yelp
Best Italian in the city, hands down. Fresh, gorgeous meal with a wonderful wine and cocktail selection. Make a reservation far enough in advance to get a good spot on the intimate patio. Start with a classic Negroni. The gnocchi is fantastic.

Yelp
Easily my favorite restaurant in Columbus. Great food, service, and wine! 10/10 for intimate date nights.

Yelp
Great food and fun time sitting on the patio. It was easy to communicate with our waitress and they were pretty speedy!

Yelp
Basi Italia is a cute and intimate Italian restaurant in German Village. They were very accommodative of our requests including adjusting seating to accommodate a larger party, having a table under the covered part of the patio, and serving the second bottle of wine 30 minutes after the first bottle. Shortly after we arrived, our server Caitlyn mentioned two entree specials including the Frutti Di Mare Risotto and Lamb Chops. For drinks, we shared a bottle of Castelvetrano Chianti. In addition to the Chianti, I enjoyed an Old Fashioned with a modification. The Old Fashioned consisted of Bulleit Rye (instead of Maker's Mark), Cherry Heering, and Grand Mariner shaken, served over crushed ice, and garnished with an orange wedge and a luxardo cherry. Before placing our food order, we emphasized that several guests in our party have a severe peanut allergy. After placing our food order, Caitlyn brought us herbed and cheesy biscotti to savor before the meal. Some of the party ordered appetizers including the Basi Caesar and Heirloom Roasted Beets Salad. The Heirloom Roasted Beets consisted of a nutty pesto topped with roasted beets, greens, and shredded cheese surrounded by a smoked EVOO and balsamic vinaigrette drizzle. I loved how the Basi Caesar Salad was deconstructed. It consisted of romaine lettuce, topped with shaved parmesan, breadsticks, tomatoes, chopped anchovies, and fresh herbs and lightly dressed in a Caesar dressing. It was also surrounded by a herb EVOO and balsamic vinaigrette drizzle. For entrees, guests enjoyed the Rigatoni Salumeria, Baked Ricotta Gnocchi, Prosciutto Wrapped Pork Tenderloin, and Lamb Chops. The Lamb Chop consisted of three juicy lamb chops served over tzatziki, a bed of chive mashed potatoes, king oyster mushrooms, and sprouts, finished with a mint gremolata, and garnished with pomegranate seeds. After finishing our entrees, Caitlyn told us about the desserts - Tiramisu, Cannoli, Basi Balls, and Pear Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream. Among the 7 of us, we shared Basi Balls and Pear Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream. The Basi Balls were chocolate truffles rolled in cocoa powder served with caramel drizzle, whipped cream, fresh berries, and chocolate covered espresso beans, and garnished with a Buckeye candy. The Pear Tart consisted of flaky pie crust with sliced pear topped with vanilla ice cream, served with caramel drizzle, whipped cream, fresh berries, and chocolate covered espresso beans, and garnished with a Buckeye candy. It was a 5-star experience until the dessert came. Caitlyn forgot to re-mention our peanut allergy to the kitchen when we ordered dessert and all of our desserts were contaminated with peanuts. After biting into a Buckeye candy, my brother had to rush to the bathroom to rinse out his mouth. When we asked servers about the desserts, we learned that the Buckeye candy consisted of chocolate and peanut butter.

Yelp
Was visiting Columbus from Pittsburgh, and decided to try this place based on the reviews. It's awesome! We sat outside which is quaint and beautiful; inside is quite small. The food was delicious - we had the beet salad, the stracchino cheese (bread is so darn good), the short rib and the gnocchi (very different), and the truffles which were to die for! Great spot in a lovely neighborhood!

Yelp
Place has slipped and resting on its laurels and its insanely popular gorgeous outdoor venue. More popular than ever. While atmosphere is unbeatable the dining part of the experience has gone downhill. We have been coming here since 2015 and loved it every time. Dined here this past week. Had the walleye which had a coating that was barely edible - they claimed it wasn't fried. Baby asparagus was hard as a rock. And what lemon sauce? Nine to 10 clams in a very small portioned pasta dish. I get more clams at my favorite pizza place in town Both for around $40 each. Not worth it. Have they changed chefs?

Yelp
Basi is a hidden gem of Columbus. For a nice Italian restaurant, it's also relatively affordable. All the dishes have a fun spin on them. The ricotta gnocchi is super unique. Depending on the season the gnocchi are surrounding by yummy seasonal veggies and sauce. Ambiance feels nice, but not too dressy. Servers are on top of it and happy to answer questions about the menu. Also has a great wine selection! Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Superb! Very quaint dining spot! Atmosphere and food were spot on! Smoked chicken carbonara and beet salad along with the blood orange martini- can't go wrong. Will be back.

Yelp
Service. Atmosphere. Eats. All 5 star worthy. It's a cozy, intimate setting, reservation highly encouraged and right now seating is patio only, but it's the perfect date night. The food has fresh and bright flavors and has innovative takes on the Italian cuisine. With every bite you can taste how much love is put into each dish. Prices reflect the quality of the food here and you really end up getting a lot for your wallet. Great wine list and dessert menu was seasonal and had some great options from sweeter to more savory. This will be our new go-to spot!

Yelp
By far the best Italian food I have tasted. Excellent service, small but cute and intimate.

Yelp
I ordered takeout, a beet salad, the ricotta gnocchi, and tiramisu. The beet salad had one beet in it and the ricotta gnocchi was supposed to have corn and mushrooms and had no corn or mushrooms. These 3 items were over $60. I am really disappointed and will not order from here again.

Yelp
My first time at Basi was a few weeks ago and I was blown away! Basi gives such a New York City vibe in Columbus ohio which I love. It's a small cozy restaurant off of Neil street and is tucked away and hidden on a side street. The food was incredible and the ambiance was amazing. If a guy brought me here on a first date I would totally be impressed. I got the Rigatoni which was incredible and my friend got the eggplant parm which was arguably better, but tbh everything was SOOO good. 10/10 highly recommend, I will be going back soon!

Yelp
This is a true Hidden Gem in Victorian Village. You must have a reservation to get in! The atmosphere is amazing and every single menu item is to die for. The place has a small cozy aesthetic outside. I had the Halibut and the Carbonara previously and I can't wait to go back for more!

Yelp
Great service, fantastic plate presentation and succulent meals. It was all that we had heard and maybe better. It will become a new go to place for us going forward.
