The Best Street Food in Oaxaca City, Mexico | Eater

"A picturesque, old-fashioned ice-cream–parlor–like plaza centered on a fountain where multiple small booths serve nieves from big metal bins into dainty glass cups; the setting has a fairy-tale quality and is ideal for lingering at dusk and indulging nostalgic, creamy ices in a quietly charming stone plaza." - Sarah Menkedick

What a beautiful Basilica ! Magical ! And they have a little museum as well that they charge admission by donation. There are many restaurants just at the secondary entrance close to the school. The main entrance to the large courtyard is undergoing renovations.

Google
A beautiful, extremely ornate basilica located just a few blocks from the zocalo and definitely off the beaten path when it comes to Oaxaca. Barely any tourists here and just a few locals. Definitely worth the 10 minute walk from the main square. Entry is free and there is a museum behind the church in case you're interested in more history of the place.

A beautiful basílica with a great view. There are often cultural events that happen here, the ends of calendas and I’ve even seen queer forms of expressive activism. This also a great spot to enjoy some tasty nieves.

Beautiful colonial architecture on the outside. Well decorated on the inside. There's a museum there as well, but I only went inside the church.

This beautiful basilica needs some restoration and some art snobs might critique some of it's art but to me it filled me with faith to see so many people at daily Mass and the simplicity and faith of the priests. If you want to experience real Latin American Catholicism, you'll find it here.

Amazing work of architecture inside and out, nice little museum in the back full of religious artifacts. (Suggested donation for entrance to museum.)

Yelp
Not as famous or visited as the Catedral or Templo de Santo Domingo but this church is a must when you come to Oaxaca. Not as grand as the other two but still very impressive. The front is filled with colorful ice cream shops and locals enjoying this beautiful plaza. The Basilica itself is beautiful and very cool architecture. I really enjoyed the angels that are almost flying at you at all the corners of this magnificent holy place. We went to mass here and then enjoyed some incredible roasted corn with all the fixings.

Yelp
Another beautiful cathedral in Oaxaca, the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de la Soledad is worth a visit if you're exploring Oaxaca. It was built between 1682 and 1690 in the Baroque style. It's beautiful and should be a part of your tour of all the cathedrals of Oaxaca if it's your first visit to the city!
