Short walk after a late lunch nearby, came upon a Baskin Robbins. Although they have a decent product I was taken back by $20 for two scoops for each of us, $1.40 tip. The ice cream was average and definitely not worth the premium.

I placed an order online for the Mario Cart birthday ice cream cake and the following morning the location owner called and notified me that they don’t have the little Mario Cart figurines and before calling me, he called 2 other BR franchises and they didn’t have the figurines either. But we didn’t give up and he had other ideas about who he can call to ask if they have them. He called all the way across the Bay. Ultimately he was able to find us the figurines and made everything so perfect! Thank you for your efforts! I really appreciate it and it made the birthday boy very very happy!

For what you're paying I feel it is not very worth it. I got a layered Sunday, most of it was a warm chocolate syrup and whip cream. I had to force myself to finish the syrup just so it wasn't a huge waste of my money. Could be a lot better.customet service was somewhat robotic, or better said kid just wanted to go home already. Definitely don't recommend nor will I come back.

Last night went to get some ice cream, the lemon sorbet had a small fly😳. Luckily I didn’t want that flavor but settled on lemon custard instead. Still… eww

I like what they have. And I recommend it. Affordable and taste good.

I recently visited this ice cream shop and found the quality of the ice cream to be decent. However, I was disappointed with the level of customer service that I received. One of the cashiers who served me appeared to be disinterested in her job and lacked enthusiasm when taking my order. Her negative attitude was quite noticeable and it made me feel unwelcome as a customer. In addition, she made several mistakes with my order, which led to delays and inconvenience. While I understand that everyone can have a bad day, the poor customer service that I received detracted from the overall experience of visiting the shop. It's important for customer-facing staff to be friendly, engaging, and attentive to their customers, which was not the case in this instance. I believe that the cashier in question could benefit from additional training or support to improve her performance and attitude towards customers. Despite the quality of the ice cream, I'm hesitant to visit this shop again due to the disappointing customer service.

This place doesn’t take anything over $20 bill for payment. So when you’re buying ice cream that is so much money for a family of 5 and spending $40, make sure you don’t try to pay with a $50 bill. This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Will never come back to this place.

Not sure why the rating is so low for this Baskin-Robbins. I had a pretty good experience that took place on a weeknight after dinner. The person who helped me was friendly, the scoop of ice cream was a fair portion. One of my favorite flavors, Gold Medal Ribbon, tasted as expected (I get this flavor at most Baskin-Robbins). Tables were clean, everything was great, what more can I expect?! #10/2025

PLEASE PLEASE UPDATE YOUR HOURS...:.. We drove 45 mins for a late night haul and online it says 10p (close). We arrived at 10p and they are closed.

I would give a zero, if I could but, they are not honoring my 50% coupon for a free frozen beverage. The guy scannned my code 3 - 4 times and it is not registering. The offer ia still good until 8/31/25. Better fix this code thing...SMH

The ice cream was yummy and so good on a hot day! The staff were very polite, welcomed us in, and when we couldn't decide, let us sample a couple of flavors. This is our favorite stop for a quick treat!

Sadly, the ice cream was not good. We were looking for a little, flavorful pick me up and this was the equivalent of a dive. Not clean, only two tables. Maybe their business was not selling ice cream. It certainly didn't taste like it. We didn't stay to eat it and threw most of it away.

Baskin Robbins honestly has become a staple if you want very convenient and tasty ice cream. Although they don't have some of the exotic flavors like other locations, every Baskin Robbins that I have ever been to has always stayed true to what they are. This particular location is a bit smaller than most and it's because it's located in the downtown area of San Mateo. But it can holds probably 10 people 12 max comfortably and they do have an assortment of flavors that everyone will enjoy. I came here after an event with some friends and I was able to buy a ton of ice cream for kids and adults and only cost me 20 bucks. Not bad for an evening of ice cream and walking around in a social gathering. The staff here was pretty chill and ultimately very friendly and although I wish I could've gotten their nails to give them a special shout out I do want to say I appreciate your hard work and the fact that they were able to take care of me and my friends.

Always a quick option. Im always sad they very rarely have anything in a banana flavor. Parking can be difficult.

I've always had great service at this BR location. Staff have always been friendly. They make great recommendations especially, when I try new flavors to add to my BR favorites. One of my all time favorite is their "Pralines N Cream." So good, and so buttery. Their mint chocolate chip is another favorite. Very refreshing. If you are ever in the downtown San Mateo area, come here after dinner to indulge yourself with their Baskin Robbins "31 flavors." The best part, this BR is centrally located near all the great restaurants including Japanese, and a Steakhouse. Cheers!

We ordered a small 9" cake from the San Mateo location. The cake turned out just as we asked and was very delicious. I dropped one star because of the lack of communication. I called this location multiple times and nobody answered. I finally went in to talk about my cake options and ordered online. I called again to see if the cake was ready and no answer. Once I picked up the cake I wasn't given any instructions on how long to leave it out before cutting. I called again, no answer. I called 2 other locations and got 2 different opinions on how long to leave out the cake. Turns out the instructions were of no help. Great cake. Strange experience.

Costumer service was great and fast. No line. Located in Downtown San Mateo. Ice cream is good.

This Baskin-Robbins is on par with any other standard Baskin-Robbins. The location is pretty small but offers all of the flavors offered at other locations. I ordered a scoop of their cookie dough ice cream which is fine enough - your basic vanilla ice cream dotted with a sufficient number of processed cookie dough bites. There is no discernible difference between what I got and the Baskin-Robbins-Robbins pint you can buy in stores. The location of the store is nice as it's situated near other desert places (boba, shaved ice, smoothies, fruit dishes, etc.) so you can satisfy the tastes of everyone in your party.

Anyone who says Baskin Robbins is less than 5 star ice cream is a liar and cheat! The ice cream is always true to their roots and the customer service was friendly and attentive. Lars and James were great to work with, a great duo and a hoot to boot. Find a parking space and saddle up to 31 delicious flavors!

Useless workers. Tall young boy slamming an ice cream cup he's preparing. No hello, no hi. Then a young Asian girl comes out from the back. The same attitude. No, can I help you. (Mind you, I was there alone with just 1 customer sitting down) The two most miserable looking teens working at an ice cream shop. Now I see why your yelp review is horrible.

This store is my favorite ice cream place to go. The owner and stuff are very friendly. I took my kids to here every weekend My favorite is fresh baked waffle. They are sooo good

Ordered 2 custom ice cream cakes for my son's birthday party. One Mario race car cake and another Warriors basketball cake. The Warriors cake was supposed to be an edible photo print, but they were not able to print it. The manager called and explained it to me, but said they could decorate it with frosting instead. It turned out so beautiful! Even better than the photo cake. I wish I had a good photo to share, but we cut and ate it too quickly. It was also easy to order, pick up and super delicious! I think the cakes also provide a lot more servings than what is listed.

We went last night around 9 pm. There was only two workers on a Saturday night. We ordered four of their one scoop waffle cones. Their mint ice cream was good, but their snickerdoodle ice cream was very bland and didn't have like... any snickerdoodle taste at all. Kinda just like a chocolate ice cream. Their waffle cones were very stale, and they didn't have any waffle cups. It seems like they make their cones in the morning or afternoon HOURS before they are serving them. And not to mention, just an hour after eating, my boyfriend threw up, and the rest of us had diarrhea (we are still having upset stomachs ever since last night). I would not come here again.

Not sure why this place has such a low rating. I have always had good experiences either with the kids working there and with the ice cream itself. It's a very tasty ice cream! lots of flavors, all creamy, soft and fluffy. I liked the fact that you really taste what you are actually having, each flavor has an absolutely distinctive and unique taste, and you don't taste just the sugar (like often happens). Prices are a bit higher than expected, but you have to consider the quality and the location (downtown San Mateo).

Dropped in here on Sunday night while visiting San Mateo. Hadn't been in a Baskin-Robbins in many years, but I've always preferred their ice cream to cold Stone, which I find rather oily. They were somehow out of both Oreo cookie ice cream and hot fudge sauce, so whoever is ordering their supplies needs to up their game. But the outgoing employee Teresa was so upbeat and friendly that I decided to stay and have a three scoop sundae with caramel sauce. It was delicious, and her banter was a lot of fun. With 30 wonderful flavors I look forward to my next visit to try out a few more!

Great service. The neopolitan ice cream was good. Very fast with taking my order and making my ice cream.

I checked time on Yelp, close at 10pm, but when we got there before 9pm and standing outside until someone comes out. Staff told us it's close at 9:02pm. We didn't get to go in, even we were in line before 9 :(

Little boy (literally, he doesn't look like he could even work) came up to the register and asked what we wanted. Friend and I said, "Eight gift cards." He turns and looks at the girl. She's washing the ice cream bins, but doesn't stop or turn and continues to ask the guy how many are there eying the gift card display holder. He seems clueless and says, "Looks like there's two." But he doesn't even check... The girl had to stop what she was doing wipe her hands on her apron and check the gift card display holder herself. She says out loud, "There's four, we need four more." She leaves the floor and the little boy continues to stand and do absolutely nothing... I started to even see customers come in. Friend and I talk amongst ourselves because the girl is trying to ring up the gift cards, but still doesn't acknowledge us. Finally, she finishes and says, "It's going to be $40." I interrupt to ask, "Can you print out gift receipts or something?" (Place seems kind of shady already) Girl replies, "No, we can't." Friend pays with her credit card. The girl asks my friend to sign and explains the gift card numbers and reference to the receipt. This was the part where I thought she was thoughtful and generous. She says, "Let me check if we have gift card envelopes." I swear she left for one minute, came back, and said, "No, sorry we don't." Hahaha! Thank goodness we only stopped by for gift cards! .. Imagine if we ate there...

I came to this establishment and I came to the restaurant at 9:55. I was then greeted by a rude employee who had brown hair and she told us that they were closed already. It was 5 minutes til closing and she immediately said "we're closed." All I wanted was a scoop of ice cream and that's how I was greeted! Never coming back AGAIN!!!!

Always under staffed on usual busy days. E.g. warm holiday afternoon just 1 single person worked in the store. End result is long wait time. Really need to look else where for ice-cream if it's nice weather weekend or holiday.

Low ratings? Rude service. There were two girls working and they barely acknowledged us until we called them over. Eventually one of them asked what we wanted and we got a couple of samples and she not seem happy at all to give us samples. We finalyl decided on 1 scoop of birthday cake and she unhappily scooped some in a cone and when we asked for a cup to put it in as well, she charged us 15 cents without even letting us know! First of all, it's only 10 cents for a bag and you're suppose to let the customer know that there is a charge. I know 15 cents is not much, but I didn't appreciate the added price on top of an already overpriced scoop. The ice cream was good, but I would never come back because it seems like they hate ther jobs and it totally kills your ice cream eating vibe. You would think you would be greeted with happy employees since they work with ice cream, but they are very ignorant of their customers and rude. No thanks...

I don't usually review the chain stores, but I had to stop in here when the ice cream at the Clear optometry was closed on Monday. I was really surprised on how pricy Baskin Robbins has gotten. I don't know if that's to keep up the costs of a slowly waning franchise, but when you can get organic bi-rite icecream with unique flavors in the city for cheaper, something must be amiss. I don't have high expectations for this tiny place, but its a little pricy for the neon-flavors frozen desserts they serve up

Customer service is the act of taking care of the customer's needs by providing and delivering professional, helpful, high quality service and assistance ... unfortunately the customer service experience was very poor. I waited in line for 5 mins literally without any greeting or acknowledgement. No friendly smile , no eye contact! Not even an Hello! Would not recommend this place nor will go back, unless they improve their customer service. Very sad because i would think working in an ice cram place would be a happy place.

Yay, there is a Baskin Robbin in downtown San Mateo. This location is really small, and it is located right next to Togo's. I know you can really miss it, if you are not looking..lol. I came here the other day with my boyfriend for some ice cream. The service here is great. We got decent size scoops of ice cream for our sundaes. My favorite flavors are: -World Class Chocolate -Oreos Cookies -Mint Chocolate Chip -Chocolate & Peanut Butter -jamoica almond fudge

Oh I had to sin while I was downtown before I got to go home. I jumped inside the store to purchase a pre packed tub of Rocky Road ice cream with a side of hot fudge. My boyfriend was trying to stop me, because sometimes I get tummy aches from too much chocolate, but I couldn't help myself. The girl was pretty nice. My minus one star is the fact that this place is super small inside. Bummer if you need a place to sit.

Small store with a few tables and located right downtown in San Mateo. Have dinner at any of the great places downtown and then have something sweet at Baskin Robbins. Lots of ice cream and sherbet selections.

OH yeah this place is great. I love the black walnut .flavor I got pretty full and the place is very clean. Service is very good.

Terrible experience. Took one sip of the milkshake and it tasted absolutely disgusting. Tried to exchange it because I had only taken a sip and the manager was so dismissive and rude. I'd rather go to a family owned ice cream shop and support them than Baskin-Robbins Robbins. Haven't been since that incident.

The staff here is always super nice and friendly. Can't go wrong with BR ice cream, but it's always nice to know that you wont get attitude when stepping foot in the door close to closing time. I enjoy visiting this location.

Average shop, nothing noteworthy aside from the fact that it's a Baskin Robin's. We just came it to grab some ice cream quickly, and decided not to stay as the place is small. It took about a minute for the teller to come and greet us, she seemed a bit distracted, maybe because during the lunchtime we were there the place was entirely empty. Nothing extraordinary about the food, the chocolate ice cream was nice and sweet, but nothing more. Would come here again if we had a craving for ice cream in the area. We only went here because the person I was with wanted ice cream and not frozen yoghurt, as there is another place that we saw on our way there that Yelp had higher reviews for. Fortunately the ice cream comes in a bowl or a cone, otherwise we would be more obliged to consume our frozen confections in the rather dull dining area.

This place is really small. I didn't like how we couldn't sit around in a group to eat our ice cream. Most of our friends had to stand against the counter while some of us sat and chatted. It was tooo cold to stand out side, so our only option was to squeeze into the shop. The service was fairly quick. We ordered paid and ate our goods in about 20 minutes.

Lots of flavors to choose from just don't ask me what flavor compliments "The Rave" burger.

Apparently the manager here doesn't trust their employees. The girl at the counter didn't want to take my birthday coupon bc the expiration didn't print out, even though I showed her the email on my phone. But this place is close to my house (and Shabuway next door) so I'll still be coming here. I'm hoping the manager stops treating their employees so nastily. Never had a bad customer service experience here, anyhow.

Disappointed with this location! Walked around after having dinner and found ourselves walking into this BR. A couple was sitting down, two other gentlemen waiting at the end of the counter and us. No one greeted nor acknowledged us as we entered. The staff person behind the counter I thought was servicing the two gentlemen but after a few minutes more, she finally asked them what they wanted. I guess she was so engrossed in what she was doing that she didn't notice or see everyone walking by. We finally got served and I have to say, not in a very cheerful manner. "what do you want?...on what kind of cone?" My friend and I looked at each other and were surprised at the behavior we were greeted with. I looked into the freezer to see what I wanted and I saw icicles in the ice cream drums and the freezer was full of ice. You could actually see the melt/refreeze appearance on some of the flavors. I ordered my usual Jamoca Almond Fudge on a regular cone. Got this really funky scoop and the employee proceeded to shape it by using the scoop dipped in their scoop bucket . To make a long story short, after my second taste of the ice cream, it nearly fell off the cone. Definitely would not withstand the cone test! I'll go to my neighborhood parlor instead. If BR corp is reading...you'll need to revamp this location and retrain the staff. I even took photos as I was that disappointed!

Good ice cream, but tiny, "tired" locations and WAYYY OVER PRICED!! with tax its like $6.00 for a double scoop on a cone?? for ice cream??? Am I at Disney Land or a tourist in SF??? I like baskin robbins ice cream, but man it is just way over priced to compete with other self serve spots offering healthier alternatives. Dont get me wrong the ice cream is good.. but they do have to turn up their freezers, and do something to feel like your not getting ripped off.. I just spent the same on lunch for 3, as I did for Ice cream for 3!

Please do not bring business here. The entire staff DO NOT provide customer service. THEY ARE VERY RUDE and stingy. You have to beg for an extra napkin. Amazing!!

Great ice cream and staff is super nice. They follow all the COVID stuff. Line is sometimes a little long but it's worth it. The prices are reasonable compared to other ice cream joints. Definitely go

First I must admit that I love Baskin-Robbins. This store in particular is my favorite. There are some teenage girls that work there and they are always very calm and nice. This place is clean and usually kinda busy. Shoutout to all the good flavors. I always come here after getting dinner in the area. My friends laugh about how much I love going here. It will never be a mistake (unless a crazy customer is in the store).

eensy beensy place, incredibly narrow and for those of us with big hips, it makes it difficult to navigate in. The lighting is kind of crappy because it always looks dingy and dark to me in here. The fancy cones (with chocolate and sprinkles and such) that they have displayed are ancient looking and I would never order one. Staff has always been nice and friendly though, even when you're torn between one or three flavors. Ever since the "Love Potion 31" flavor came out, it's all I get. Very very tasty ice cream that borders on orgasmic if the mood is just right.

So I'm walkin in downtown San Mateo. I needed to find a few things. On my way back to the bar, I see ice cream. I look up and WHAM!! it hits me. "THIS IS A F*CKING BASKIN ROBBINS" Okay, I'm not a real big ice cream person, but dammit, I don't see these very often. So I had to jump in and get something. I regretted it later during the De La Hoya fight. lol.

My favorite pistachio almond perhaps is the 31st flavor. The carton is usually barely or untouched altogether. That is until i show up. This is a good source for it even though it's much smaller than the usual BR. Standard service and selection. Good for a craving, but not so much as a destination

This place will always have a special place in my heart. It is where my first date took me after a church bazaar, Mike Shoenstein was his name. I remember trying to be cool eating a cone of chocolate fudge ice cream, and I would be embarrassed when it started to melt onto my hand. I was mortified. Mike ate his faster so none of it dripped. That's what you get when you try to be lady-like. The darn ice cream melts. I still love the Chocolate ice cream. but sometimes I get the Coffee flavor, or Mocha Fudge flavor.

Hate to say it but this place kinda sucks. I remembered when it was better... went in with my sister for a quick dessert since I had a gift certificate to it... two people were working, one Asian one Hispanic (I think). The had their backs turn to us most of the time. When we asked for samples they looked somewhat pissed that we weren't buying something. When we did buy a scope the lady didn't listen. We wanted one scope to share but you acted like we wanted over scope each... Um hello...have you not seen the weather lately? We asked for it on a cone and thought we could just get an extra cup to split. Little did we knew it costed us 15 more cents. Like I know it's like chump change but telling us would if been nice. Another customer came in while we were eating. Did not even acknowledge them. Ignored them till they were like "excuse me.." like hello you work at an ice cream place. Little kids goes there to get ice cream and be happy. They probably dampered the.kids mood a bit.

Every time i go to this place, i ask myself why i did it again when i did not like it the last time!!!! Walked in to order the smallest ice cream cake and was disappointed with selection. Then when i picked one of what they carried, ended being charged for 'design' fee.... huh? That was just sitting there to be bought, i did not ask for the design. Quality of ice cream and cake was again, mediocre. So ... i really must not go there again.
