A few years ago, as a craft beer enthusiast, I used to say:
“I wish we could drink proper craft beer on tap next to sushi or at tapas bars.”
“I wish we could pair great IPAs, stouts, or lambics with warm, flavorful bites like yakitori or gyoza.”
Now, this has truly become one of the directions the craft beer world is moving toward — and that makes me very happy.
Basqueland Izakaia is one of those places. With its own local brews, a few rotating taps, and a fridge full of beautiful craft beers — including eye-catching, hipster-style illustrated cans — it’s a great spot for beer lovers.
I really enjoyed it here. The Cantillon-style Basqueland “Pink Flamingo” was a fantastic fruited sour. It paired perfectly with the gyoza and the shrimp & shiitake mushroom bao — a truly delicious combination.
The venue itself is cozy and charming. The staff are attentive and friendly.
Highly recommended.
