This is a place you must visit if you’re in Subotica. You can taste quality traditional food and they give you huge portions at great value. Especially if recommend GULAŠ. The customer service and atmosphere were also both fantastic, they had live music and all the staff were super friendly. BTW this was my 4 times.

Hands down one of the best and authentic restaurants I have visited in my life. Even though they were fully booked outside they accepted me as a walk in. The live music in the garden was a real authentic experience and the food was just to die for. I will absolutely visit again.

An authentic place that has preserved the atmosphere of the old times. Friendly service, waiters speak English. We tried the Hungarian goulash, a large portion, suitable for two adults. Be prepared to wait a little longer than usual.

Ordered bates many times , was very disappointed in the quality of the goulash Along with the attitude of whoever had answered the phone when I did call to let them know that all my soup was spilled in the bag due to them not putting the lid on properly . Never had this issue before from them . It wouldn’t be as big of a deal if they would’ve owned up to their mistake . But they proceeded to blame the delivery driver rather than realizing that they are the ones who packaged the soup and did not put the lid on correctly. Also what was left of the soup was watery and lacked the depth of flavor it normally has . Everyone has off days but the lack of attrition to detail is really being shown in the Quality as of late . Very disappointed really loved this place :/

Food was amazing, portions are not just big, they are HUGE! We ordered soups and waiters brought us literally 4 pans, which each of them we could share for 2-3 persons! And soups were like really good home made soups, with potatoes, meat, vegetables and so on. We barely survived. In addition, we didn't book anything and still guys found a table for us to eat. Thanks to them!

I am writing this review as I am eating at Bates. The food is exceptional, home made and slow food. My mom used to cook like this and I am sheding tears while enjoying these perfect dishes. You have to visit and eat here. Do not miss.
