"After more than three years of preparation, Chicago brunch hit Batter & Berries unveiled a new location on Wednesday, April 19 at 3462 Vollmer Road in suburban Olympia Fields. Fans have flocked to the original in Lincoln Park since 2012 for decadent French toast flights, deconstructed omelets, and sweet potato waffles with fried chicken." - Naomi Waxman

Batter & Berries has definitely improved. The overall service was good. We were told the wait was 20-30 minutes. It was definitely closer to 20 minutes. Our waitress was very polite. The food came out pretty quickly so that was good as well. We the chicken fajita skillet, which was well seasoned. They do add cheese to the hashbrowns, which I do like however, they were a bit overcooked. We also ordered the lemon French toast, which was delicious. The flavor of the lemon was potent, but not overpowering. The candied walnuts were an excellent touch and the sweetened butter is amazing. Overall, definitely give it an 8 out of 10.

Me and my friend were looking for a local Brunch spot near matteson and this place came up on our google search. We has both visited their other location and enjoyed the food so much. We had the same experience this time. Our server gave us awesome service. The mimosas flight was delicious. My chicken fajitas omelet was delicious My friend had the French toast sampler and chicken tenders and fries. Her food was delicious too but her fries were under cooked. The staff quickly fixed her fries without any issues. Would definitely go again.

Really enjoyed the experience and the food was great! I don’t live close but when I’m in town I’m sure to take a visit. Great service and I love the fact that there is a new flavor every week for their French toast. Unique flavors and extremely tasty food.

The front counter was a little shaky far as greeting. As I briefly waited to be seated there was a very polite mother there with her two kids for take out. Upon the interaction with the hostess, i witnessed the mother say “ thank you” a couple times with no response from the worker as the mother looked at me , physically signaling me to step ahead of her because she’s been taking care of. Now our waiter, was excellent! My oldest daughter wanted something specific that saw online from the & he explained they no longer served it, but hooked us up with something similar. This brother had an accent & was a great waiter.

1st visit to this location. If I could give it 500 stars I would. Marcia our awesome server has excellent customer service skills. My fried chicken breast was a bit dry and she showed the chef next thing I knew my plate was replaced. The food was delicious! Coffee is amazing too! We're going to return in the near future.

I was scared at first because I heard people say it wasn't as good as the one up north, but I wanted to try for myself. I'm happy I did because I enjoyed that Cajun omelet and lemon French toast. Plus, it's not as tight in that space as it is up north.

Visited Batter and Berries with my family. We were greeted by a friendly staff that was ready to serve. The atmosphere was nice but once the crowd arrived it got a little stuffy. My grandson ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and chicken tenders. He ate it all and was on a sugar high all day. The presentation was great for a picky kid. I ordered the banana and caramel waffle with a side of fried eggs and chicken sausage. Every thing was good but the sausage was overcooked and tasteless. I appreciate the option instead of pork but I have had much better. And the coffee was subpar. I am a serious coffee drinker and this coffee was weak. Those two items caused me to give you a 5 star ⭐️. One other thing…..please put together a menu for the specials. I was impressed with the server having the ability to recite it.. but sorry I couldn’t remember any of it.

Don’t sleep on the Chicken Alfredo omelette. I KNOW! It sounds weird, I thought so to, but they were so nice to let me sample the house Alfredo sauce and I loved it. The chicken is fried to perfection. Nothing was ordinary on the menu. Even the mimosa flight was different, good but different. The apple cinnamon mimosa was my fav. My sister got the French toast flight and if you are a person with a heavy sweet tooth you will love it. The chicken sausage were interesting. Not good or bad, just interesting. Feel like they could have cooked a bit longer. The waitresses were lots of fun and social. In an economy where good customer service is rare, I appreciated that. I will say though, IT WAS HOT inside. They gotta kick that AC up! My daughter had to get an al a carte breakfast because like I said nothing on the menu was regular, and at 4, toddlers like what they like. That was a bit pricey. They typically don’t want to try new things, so because of that, I’d say it’s not ideal for small children. All in all, I’d say 8/10 and I’d recommend

Yelp
My recent breakfast delivery from Batter & Berries in Olympia Fields, IL, was a delightful surprise. Unfortunately, the delivery driver did not ring the doorbell upon arrival. I ordered French toast, an egg omelet, and golden hash browns. The French toast was light and fluffy, featuring a crisp, golden-brown exterior and a luxuriously soft interior. It comes with various toppings, including blueberries, strawberries, walnuts, and a plain option served with a scoop of cinnamon butter, which is perfect for those who prefer a simple flavor. My favorite was the French toast topped with crispy, glazed walnuts. The omelet and hash browns were equally impressive, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Together, they made for a hearty and satisfying complement to the already exceptional French toast. Batter & Berries exceeded my expectations in every way. The freshness and warmth of the food upon arrival, combined with the exceptional quality and taste, made this a breakfast I won't soon forget. The Walnut French toast is a must-try. I highly recommend Batter & Berries and eagerly anticipate my next order.

Yelp
Just horrible. No waiting area, people standing all over blocking the entrance, reservation system is absolutely messy. Hostess couldn't differentiate between walk in customers vs. those that actually made a reservation online. Everyone quoted 45min-60 minutes. I had a reservation with a confirmation time of 1:15pm, per their own system, yet, still quoted 45 minute wait lol. A man came in to order a carry out order...he was quoted 20 minutes to even place the order...needless to say he walked out also. Can't even sit at the bar to order a drink and accept the long wait for your table...since bar seating is by reservation also, despite only 4 people at the bar. Rest of the bar filled with empty table settings lol. This location maintains the same dysfunction as their Lincoln Park/Lakeview location. 100% do not recommend even trying to patronize this place. It is simply too many great brunch places that have streamlined processes for customers and offers a great dining experience.

Yelp
I had forgotten that B&B opened a location in Olympia Fields. I popped in on Saturday morning and got turned out. The catfish with eggs and cheesy hashbrowns were outstanding. I ordered the waffle flight also. Strawberry, blueberry, pecan caramel, and lemon. Didn't make any sense to be so blooming delicious. Went back a few Sayurdays later and had the chicken and shrimp alfredo with cheesy hashbrowns and a small order of creme brulee French toast. Full blown turned out. Straight-up yum. This location gets crowded, but there is enough space to accommodate everyone. I like the whole vibe of this location, from the hostess to the servers to the output from the kitchen.

Olivia M.

Yelp
I ordered the smothered chicken topped with gravy, served over eggs, and hash browns with cheese. It was delicious! My husband had chicken sandwiches with fries, which were also very good. Our waitress was friendly and took the time to explain the special of the day. The restaurant was clean, and all the staff were very pleasant.

Natalie M.

Yelp
The Batter & Berries in Matteson had a really nice ambiance, color palette, and the overall vibes were very fun. I got the French Toast Flight which was AMAZING. 10/10 recommend. However, I had a side of two sausage patties which were really dry, and they costed $7.00 which I thought was high. The service was okay, the hostess was super kind and greeted us as we walked in. Our server, Sierra, was kind as well but she never came back after our food was served, only for the check. That being said, our drinks never got filled up again either. My second party had a meal that contained eggs which they didn't make them how he wanted. The prices were a little high for what we got. $50.00 for just two meals, waters, and one orange juice is a little bit higher than a usual breakfast restaurant. I'd like to visit here again in the future to see what their lunch is like. Overall, nice place, good food, and is perfect for a quick meal.

Darryl D.

Yelp
The food was good, reasonably priced, there's a little more space than the NorthSide location & there's a free parking lot.

Shelia M.

Yelp
Excellent food and .We love the super flight, pancakes,Jambalaya omelette and waffles also

Yelp
This place is phenomenal. I had been wanting to try it for years before I moved away. I happen to be in town for a funeral and went with my sister, niece and great niece. Everyone loved the food, except the greens. My sister wasn't a fan. The fried chicken flavor was a little complex for my 11 year old great niece. I had the pit masters gumbo. It was great!! Then I had the gulf fish ponchatrain with trout, corn maque choux and a bear blanc sauce, a side of red beans to go and shared the beignets. For drink I had a Jameson old fashioned. The only dissatisfaction was when I asked about bread, I was told they only had cornbread, which I don't like. I was surprised there was no toasted French baguettes. I would definitely return. I pictured something a little more casual, and was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and vibe.

Japhe J.

Yelp
I went here for the first time and it was Nice! I order the French toast flight and it was sweet and full of flavor! The service wasn't terrible, we only waited about 10-15 mins for a table after arriving and our waitress was nice! The inside is pretty intimate and the music is very low so it doesn't over power the convos which I loved! I will definitely return!

Eladio A.

Yelp
The French Toast flight is not to be missed! Nothing fancy about this place but the food is amazing!

Lisa P.

Yelp
First time at this location; beautiful purple and gold themed space. Our server M.J. was amazing; she did her thing to make sure everything was good. My drink; blueberry mimosa was pretty good. The food; OMG! The lemon french toast was the best I have ever had. Great with the seafood cakes if you want a little something different. There is a difference between the caramel cake french toast which is infused with a bit of liquor and the caramel french toast which is alcohol free. Both were delicious. Did not try the omelette but was told it was good. I'll be back soon. Looking for M. J.

Belinda P.

Yelp
nice vibe, the waiter Jake was exceptional. And the food was good as always . Great job B&B

Alicia W.

Yelp
What an extraordinary experience! Came here on my way back to my southern home and stepped into this gem. As a Chicago native I appreciated the vibe, it felt like a midday club atmosphere with a well curated playlist of classic house . Every morsel of food that dance across my palette was exceptional. 10 out of 10 would eat here again and recommend My highest compliments to the chef(s)

Audrey S.

Yelp
My cousins and I recently visited this location to celebrate a birthday. We went on a Monday and they were quite busy. Our party was originally told that there would be a 45 minute wait. We ended up waiting over an hour for a table. I ordered the mimosa flight, a sausage omelette and a side of bacon. The blueberry mimosa was my least favorite but I enjoyed the strawberry and apple flavors. I meant to order the gravy that comes with the omelette on the side but I forgot. The gravy had a hint of sweetness, which was unexpected. I wasn't a fan of it on the omelette but I like it when I dipped my bacon in it. I would order the omelette again with the gravy on the side.

Yelp
I've been going to Lincoln Park location for years. Decided to go with a friend to Batter and Berries suburb location for brunch. Plenty of free parking (parking lot is huge!) The decor is colorful and fun (purple and yellow) We were given a table immediately in outside patio. The place is very large with a full bar and seating on one side and seating on the other side of the establishment. The staff is friendly and responsive to requests of more ice or napkins. Best item on menu is The Flight, a variety of French Toast flavors. Feel free to share the dish, then order a main course for yourselves. Ordered the Fajita chicken omlet (egg white omlet may be ordered) which comes with cheesy hash browns. Everything was delicious! I live closer to Lincoln Park location; the trip to visit friends who were located near the Olympia Fields location was worth the trip. We all had a delightful time!

Sheena J.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The service was abysmal. We were a party of 3 and requested to be seated outside since there were tables available immediately. We placed drink orders, two coffees and a round of water. one coffee came, but mine never did. Then about 30 mins later our food came out which would've been great except the hashbrowns were raw. I asked for cooked hashbrowns and condiments. 10 more mins later and a new plate of raw unseasoned hashbrowns came out. Gross. No one here cares about what's being prepared for guests and that's unfortunate considering the price point. I will not be back and I hope this establishment considers paying their staff more and training them better so guests can have an enjoyable experience. Side note, the bathroom was filthy and there were 4 tables with plates that hadn't been bussed on the patio. I'm appalled, and you should be too. I wish we had just gone Lumes.

Lalita J.

Yelp
Look so sooo good! Prices are reasonable customer service was great and there was zero wait time. What more can you ask for?

Delores M.

Yelp
The food at this location isn't the same at the one up North and the Service could be better but the waitress I experienced today requires more training, the attitude needs some adjusting. I asked for a separate glass of ice from my juice as she sat down our juices I simply reminded her of my ice and her swift response was " Two hands" which meant i can only carry two cups at a time which is understandable but not necessary. Instead she could have simply said no problem i'm bringing it next, this new generation requires way more training than the older generation we were raised with respect. The Ambiance was comforting, but i scratched my itch. I'm okay now.

Danielle P.

Yelp
Love this location. Easy to get a seat. Food is pretty consistent. The French toast is amazing. I typically like the specials like the fried catfish but today I tried the creole omelet and it was incredible. My compliments to the chef!!!!!

Tia B.

Yelp
The best French toast I've ever tasted! I didn't need syrup, I attended the north side restaurant.

Tangie W.

Yelp
I'm used to going to the one in Lincoln Park but I had a relative in town that was south so I said well let's go where is more convenient and I won't have to deal with morning traffic. I wish I would've just dealt with the traffic. the one in Olympia Field was greatly greatly greatly disappointing. They had no catfish. They had no short ribs. My hashbrowns were like they were cooked the day before and refried my French toast some of it was hard. Some of it was good. The floor was dirty. The seats were dirty. It wasn't that crowded for the waitress not to be able to take our plates away or ask If we were OK ? I will never ever never ever never return to Olympia, Fields and berries to the owner manager, treat us self just the way you treat North and Lincoln Park. We deserve the same service for the same price.

Richard N.

Yelp
Great food!!!! Better and Berries NEVER disappoints, if you're not come, why drive to the north side when WE have what we need right here...

Jessica D.

Yelp
I enjoy brunch so much. I typically get the crab cake benedict with hash browns. I have to be honest and say, I had to return my hash browns for some more fresher ones before. The server exchanged them with no problem. The mimosa flight and french toast flight are a big deal here. There is no need for syrup on the french toast. If you add it you're just a big back . My favorites are the blueberry, caramel, and lemon french toast. Depending on your budget it's a tad bit pricey, but worth it. Make sure you are added to the wait list before going. I would suggest going during the week, weekends can get crowded.

marcus b.

Yelp
Food here is seasoned well and tasty. Parking is convenient as the restaurant is in a nice shopping center. Restaurant is small, but it creates an intimate vibe. Music was loud, but not overbearing.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Today was the first day of soft opening I am going to call it. Online and walk in orders to take out. I choose online. Everyone inside was friendly. The place isn't ready for sit down but the change from what it was previously to now is evident. Sunny yellow walls and tables waiting for us to come in. I had a regular breakfast: eggs, bacon, hash browns and a biscuit. Packaged well for take out. Bacon was crispy and I didn't have to ask. Scrambled with Gouda and nice amount of cheese. Potatoes were cooked well and the biscuit was flavorful. We have been waiting for this for a long time so get out and go often!

Patience S.

Yelp
The food was delicious. When we were looking for a location to host a meetup for our book club... someone suggested here. And I am so glad that we did. We were able to enjoy ourselves and have amazing conversation around food. Our server was awesome. She made sure to accommodate all of the requests made. And when we had to wait a little longer for our drinks, she made sure to make up for it. Our first book club event was made awesome because of the ambiance. And the photogenic atmosphere (the greenery wall) made our day.

Yvette J.

Yelp
The wait was short for one person. Thank you for that. I customized my brunch to more of a vegan dish. No egg or cheese omelette. It was decent. I'll come back and encourage my husband to wait patiently next time. I was sat down within minutes.

Dionna M.

Yelp
Way too pricey. Everything à la cart and the atmosphere isn't the nicest ambience either.

Errica W.

Yelp
The location is definitely better than the Chicago one but the service is still the same. The waitress will be confused and forget to come back but the French toast is good. I think places like this are overpriced but you go for the ambiance. You'll be charged just for that. Overall, not bad but the service could easily be improved.

Monica ..

Yelp
The food was ok. I had the Bella Hash and it was way over seasoned and the zucchini was ice cold. Such an odd issue but it was hard to stomach. Cluck and Gravy was oddly sweet. Only ate a few bites. Service was great since it was so busy but probably won't return.

Jesse M.

Yelp
Batter and Berries is an essential and refreshing breakfast/brunch restaurant in the area. As someone who has passed through the area for many years, this place deserves recognition for its menu options. Most locations serving breakfast in the area function as cheap eats with similar boring options. This location served both elevated classics and unique dining choices I can not get at other restaurants close by. After experiencing what this restaurant had to offer, it is safe to say that I will return and recommend it to others. FOOD: I was lucky enough to try 3 breakfast items which I found very pleasant. The first option I tasted was the "Cluck-N-(Goof)". This interesting take on the beloved chicken and waffles hit the nail on the head in every way. The sweet potato waffle was the star of the show maintaining a slightly sweet flavor while being mostly savory. The first bite I took widened my eyes and put a surprised grin on my face. The butter provided was their signature "maple butter" which provides an added layer of richness. I really appreciated that the waffle wasn't too sugary and had a depth of flavor. Too often I see places attempt to jazz up this classic dish by adding a barely noticeable element to the waffle but this place did not suffer the same issue. Next, I had the B&B breakfast wrap which also contributed to my positive experience. The server was kind enough to recommend how to order it and I was more than content with the result. I was told to order it with fried chicken, hot sauce, and gouda cheese, instead of the cheddar it typically comes with. Although I swapped the fried check for chicken sausage as a personal preference. The wrap also contains scrambled eggs and hashbrowns so you will definitely leave full. The wrap was hearty, creamy, and well-seasoned. what made this meal truly special was the hot sauce. MAN WAS IT AMAZING, certainly top 5 best hot sauces I have ever had. It was tangy and flavorful. There was a nutty background flavor that added to the mild heat. It transformed the already good breakfast wrap into a dazzling masterpiece. Adding the sauce in between every other bite made the dish impossible to put down. Finally, I was fortunate enough to try the French toast flight, which is their most popular item. It contained all flavors of French toast including the flavor of the week which in this case was creme brule. It was truly magnificent to taste the different slices which all had their own designs and flavors. The cooks here care about the theme of each French toast flavor. While other places might use artificial flavoring to a neutral syrup or drizzle some caramel over bread, this place took the food to the next level. There was fresh fruit, distinct jellies or marmalades, and most importantly, distinct tastes between each slice in the flight. I loved the plating on the creme brule slice, but I have to say my favorite in taste has to be the blueberry. In regards to service, the server was extremely helpful and polite. She provided recommendations for each section of the menu and really made us feel welcome as first-time diners. It was completely packed in the place and she still managed to make sure we were enjoying our experience while juggling other tables' needs. The inside of the restaurant was also very comforting due to the homie vibe of the dining room and the obviously dedicated kitchen staff you can see in the back. In general, I had a fantastic experience and will be sure to return to try their other waffles and rotating specials. If you live in the area and are tired of the same skillets and pancakes, I highly recommend you come here for some delicious takes on familiar foods.

Liz H.

Yelp
The service is 5 stars. The caramel French toast is 5 stars. The eggs and hash browns are nothing special but they are good. The pork sausage was spicy and Dry - 2 stars. FYI: The Mimosas are not made with orange juice. Basically, it's flavored Champagne. I did not like the "caramel" apple. However, Jake gave us a small glass of orange juice to add with it. Every thing is a la carte so the bill might get pricey. Overall, I enjoyed the meal.

Gloria G.

Yelp
The food was cold as ice. It was catfish , and it was rubbery., Also the bus boys cleaned and broke down a table next to u,s, and what ever they sprayed cause me and my family to gag and cough profusely. At that pointI I was ready to go for The food. On top of the inattentive service and detail. I hope whatever they used to-clean the table was not toxic with log term effects; because our throats burned for the rest of the day. Worst restaurant I've ever been to. The staff especially the manager, the 2 boys that Rome down the table, and the waitress heart was clearly not in the job. Clearly, I will not be going back there ever in life.

Anthony S.

Yelp
This place was very good. Food was very tasty. I had a blueberry French toast which was maple butter, but then I got a coffee and the coffee. It was like almost 5 dollars the waitress she was OK. She wasn't too attentive . But the food was good different type of ambience for that type of place but I'd go there again

Kelli D.

Yelp
My party of four arrived on a Wednesday at around 11 a.m. We had about a 20-minute wait, which wasn't too bad. Our server was great. Very friendly, personable, and attentive. I've read some of the other reviews, and I'm guessing that the long wait and poor service is on the weekend, when I can imagine, they are extremely busy. I tried the flight of French toast and the special of the day. I'm not a French toast person, but this was delicious. At most places, it's too sweet, but this was light, fluffy, and just enough sweetness. The flavors of the toppings really came through. They also have an outdoor seating area that wasn't open on the day I went, but it would have been nice to sit outside. Overall. I enjoyed it and would return.

Dw M.

Yelp
This review is for the Olympia Fields location. I started off with a lemon mimosa which was okay. Then I ordered their 'creole omelet' which was not an omelet. It was an egg over easy with the creole sauce on it, but it was good. Hash browns were served along with it. The hash browns were okay. The meal tasted fine, but Batter & Berries needs to make sure what they are describing on the menu is what they serve the customer. This meal was one of their specials. I had coffee after the meal and that was okay too. Service was just okay. I was not offered a refill on the coffee, but the waitress was friendly. They need to work on cleaning their windows at the restaurant because they were pretty dirty.

Kyla B.

Yelp
I took my mom to lunch here and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We ordered the Shrimp Fritatta and the Spinach Omelet. The food was great and the service was A+

Billy C.

Yelp
I am grateful for the new location. Great service and great menu. I always order from the special because they do the best with seafood for breakfast. I got there a little after 11 and I was able to sit down immediately. The restaurant started getting full around noon for lunchtime.

Glenn R.

Yelp
Just got my order from here. I order/eat A LOT of salads- so I was overly pleasantly surprised when my Batter and Berries that was perfect. Batter and Berries gives you a perfectly layered salad with generous portions of the protein, fruits, greens AND they don't skimp on the dressing This is my go-to place from now on!

Crystal T.

Yelp
Batter & Berries in Olympia Fields was just as good as the one up North. I live 10 mins away and am a food snob so don't take my review lightly! We went on a day where it was -10 degrees outside so we didn't have a wait. The seafood cakes, the lemon French toast, and the steak and omelet was bomb. I honestly think the sides up north are typically meh. I had hashbrowns and sunny side eggs cooked to perfection at this location. I'm glad I didn't take that hike for similar quality food. As far as atmosphere, folks were nice. MJ was our server and she was warm and helpful. I'm so glad we finally got to go here on a slower day. I'm praying they can stay here so we can continue to enjoy bomb food in the burbs!

Janene M.

Yelp
This was my first time at this location. Much larger than the one in Lincoln Park. They don't open until 9a and there is a line of people in the parking lot that wait for service to begin. The French toast flight is amazing and while I didn't enjoy the chicken sausage they friend chicken breast was the savory balance I needed. I will definitely return. Missing a star because they didn't have the chicken Alfredo omelet I was promised by the staff who made it sound out of this world.

Cee Y.

Yelp
Very good service, clean ,fun interesting and exciting restaurant, food was very good loved very bite. I will return.

LaTanya L.

Yelp
This was my second visit MUCH IMPROVED! I was not impressed the 1st time but there has been some improvement or maybe I just caught them before the rush. Either way I was happy with my service and food!

Kim J.

Yelp
Our waitress Marcia is #1. We not only travel from Indiana for the great food but the A 1 service from Marcia is pure gold. Keep it going and thank you

Eulinda G.

Yelp
I've wanted to try Batter and Berries since I heard that the North side location was good. I was really disappointed with my dining experience at the Olympia Fields location. Specifically, the biscuit. The biscuit was hard, dense, tasteless and very disappointing. My sister ordered the chicken and veggie omelette, and the chicken and veggies came on top of the eggs, not mixed in like an omelette, very disappointing.

Crystal D.

Yelp
The food and service were amazing! Not my favorite ambiance, I would still go back in a heartbeat! A little pricey but that won't stop me.

Tamara J.

Yelp
I was really excited that they opened a Batter and Berries in the south suburbs. Having been to the one up north, it's a hassle to drive and park there, plus the wait times. Although the distance and parking was not a problem- I was disappointed that the wait times were just as bad as up north. For a party of two, our wait time was an hour and forty-five minutes!! They need to institute an hour and a half dining like other restaurants that have that type of interest. The food was good - but not worth the wait time.

LaRee D.

Yelp
The server forgot about us after bringing our food out separately. My friends food was soon late she asked for it to go. The lack of service made our visit un-enjoyable. They still added gratuity for poor service. We will not be back.

Nicole T.

Yelp
You try to support local businesses, but this is very upsetting. What should have been a warming and inviting experience turned out to to a horrible first impression! Where do I begin? Yep, 10 minutes later (Ciara) came and took our order with an attitude... unprofessional is an under statement. She stated i don't know who came 1st while talking to 3 tables... no personal service! At this point I'm over it and won't be back no time soon. Food was average and cold upon arrival... smh... look at these lil sausages. They gotta do better!
