Kids loved the playground here. Kids can play here after the carousel or before. Have a water fountain to fill up your water bottles. Slide are a little scary at first for the little ones. You can capture their reaction going down the slides

My 10 year old loved this playground. I'm sure it gets busy in warmer weather but we had the place to ourselves on a not-too cold Sunday in February.

A fun play area in a busy part of the city, A nice escape from the hectic Manhattan traffic. Good for 30 minutes of entertainment for children.

We visited Battery Playscape during a holiday weekend and were impressed by the creative design and attention to detail throughout the park. The 2-story curvy granite slide was a highlight, attracting kids that were lining up constantly for their turns. However, there are a few areas that could be enhanced potentially in future: - In outdoor play areas, safety, durability, weather resistance… features are always top priorities. But there are peeling materials, and in the play theater area dents and dimples are on the glued-on metal panels and a few have begun to fall off. - It’s a wonderful space for all ages, though it might be helpful to have the play areas labeled by age group. - There might be operational or maintenance reasons, but the water and sand area was completely dry, with no water available. - As the park is relatively new, it will take time for the natural shade to grow. But currently, it’s a bit challenging to be mostly exposed to the sun on hot days and finding shaded seating is also difficult.

This is an exceptional playground—the best and most captivating one we've explored in Manhattan. It offers an array of unique features, including rock climbing walls, a drawbridge, various steps and stairs, and an impressively long slide. The movable walls, water elements, and interactive audio-visual toys provide endless entertainment, ensuring the kids stay engaged for hours. With water fountains and plenty of refreshment stands conveniently nearby, it's easy to spend an entire afternoon here without missing a beat. A must-visit for families!

Fun park with cool designs and slides that all of my children loved to run around in. Even my tween kids had fun at this park that is for all ages. The park is big, but gated so I think it could be fun for a toddler/preschooler but may be a bit stressful for moms/caregivers as it is pretty big and has lots of areas to disappear to. Nice huge bench for adults to sit on and take in the views.

Amazing modern park combining climbing structures, slides, houses, musical instruments, walking paths, water play, and some learning opportunities about nature! All shaded in the morning so the slides are not hot. Equipment was great for adventurous toddlers and all the way to 12 years old. Soft cushioning for safety. Wooden new material. Water play is great to discover physics too! Well thought, well designed. Easily accessible from ferry or subway.

Yelp
My son loves this park and has spent hours here in 3 separate occasions. It's very well built and beautiful. I highly recommend coming to the park in long comfortable pants since the slides can burn the kids legs. The sun hits directly towards the slide. This happened the first time my son came but we learned and always come with long lightweight pants now.

Yelp
We went to this playground and our kid had a good time. The playground was nice and new with several different areas. One area was built on a slope and had several slides made of granite, which was cool. The slides were super smooth and were fun to go down. Next to that was a more traditional playground with the kinds of things you'd expect to see for kids to climb on. Past there was an area with a wall to climb on (not too far up; it was mostly horizontal climbing). It was a fun place and I would go back there again.

Yelp
You won't regret coming here to let your kid/s play! This is a brand new play space, with plenty to do and experience. As beautifully described in the first couple of reviews here, 5 ecology areas are on display, with so many cool things to do that will overwhelm your child at first. My daughter (5 years old) particularly loved the elevated structure (with water sprinklers at the bottom). Slides are cool but will get hot quickly after sun exposure. Afternoons are beyond busy, so try to aim for a morning visit. There's also a "theatre" in the back, where kids can do some dramatic play. An horizontal climbing wall (age 5-12) is also available, although I doubt that even 12-year old kids can finish it. Water fountains are available, but you will be craving for shades seats (if you can find any)... most trees are young and on hot days you'll be roasting (bring a hat and plenty of sunscreen). Overall, it's really a great space to let you child roam free and enjoy exploring... a true destination playground worth visiting even by itself. We came in the afternoon after a morning visit of Governors Island.

Yelp
This was truly the best playground that I have ever taken the kids to! There's lots of room to run and soo many different sections that entertained them throughout the whole day! Their favourite thing was the slides! Although some parents struggle to manage the behaviour of their kids when the area gets busy but otherwise it's a pretty awesome park!

Yelp
We were heading to the ferry for Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island when we walked by this park. My kids scoped it out right away. It's hard not to notice this cool modern park. If I were a kid, I'd want to play here too!!! The park is new and opened in Dec 2021. I love everything about this park. They had me at the modern design! Plenty of seating for parents to sit and play on their phones while the kids play in the park. Haha. Absolutely beautiful park. If you get a chance to take your kids here, do it. Phenomenal park with cool and modern play areas focused on five ecology zones. The granite slides were definitely a favorite among the kids. The big slide was super popular and all the kids lined up for that one. Be careful kids as that is super fast and I saw several kids slide their butts straight onto the floor!!! Ha. "Battery Playscape was designed post Storm Sandy and is built to flood and recover. It fosters environmental and cultural awareness through innovative contemporary design driven by sustainable and water-conscious features. Children experience five ecology zones: Bluff with five granite slides; Riverbed and Marsh with vast salt-tolerant gardens, elevated tree houses, and sand/water play; and Dune and Meadow presenting ShowBox, the first improv/puppet theater in a NYC playground. Playscape's biodiversity will become an exemplar for flood zone landscapes across the globe."

Yelp
This is a destination playground. If you are in NYC, this is worth going out of your way for if you have young kids. Fully enclosed with lots of different areas, your kids will be SO happy here. Even in non-water season, there are tons of play spaces. Our kids were 6 and 8, but younger would definitely enjoy as would older -- I would guess 10-12 is probably the upper limit. In good weather there are vendors with fruit and food, and the carousel and Statue of Liberty view are right here.

Yelp
Pretty cool playground. The water & sand area is a little funky. Wish it wasn't like a mini lake. Tiny kids in diapers and parents whisking them out after realizing they needed a diaper change. The slides are fun.
