Chung Chun Rice Dog Opens Its First Seattle Location - Eater Seattle

"Ballard’s well-respected coffee shop Bauhaus has opened up a new outpost in Capitol Hill on Harvard Ave E. This marks a return to the neighborhood that gave Bauhaus its start in the early 1990s, before financial troubles forced a move from its original location on Pine and Melrose in 2015. The new spot is cozy, with ownership planning to expand the menu beyond coffee and pastries to beer and wine (although a liquor license is still forthcoming)." - Megan Hill

1. ALWAYS OUT OF EVERYTHING. out of espresso on more than one occasion...its a coffee shop. OUT OF LIDS? When they finally they got lids-they got lids WITHOUT HOLES ...what the actual heck. always out of vanilla (one of THE MOST basic flavorings).. out of espresso AGAIN. the store manager is doing her best and all the staff there are so friendly. the gm or owner or whoever SUCKS. i was going almost every day as i am a neighbor (literally a block away) i will now be taking my buisness elsewhere..a coffee shop charging $8 for a 16oz latte, but no coffee..no vanilla, no cups, no lids, no straws.. no espresso again.. no milk.. the staff ARE 5/5 AMAZING.. everything else sucks.

This place is a hidden gem. First off, the lady working there was incredibly welcoming, friendly, kind, respectful, & SPEEDY! I got the sunrise wrap to go & holy frick DELISH! I will 100% be back!

So happy to be back at Bauhaus! The previous Hill location was before my time, but I enjoyed the Ballard location in 2019 and right before it closed due to Pandemic. I love this cozy hidden space! The silver art piece reminds me a lot of the Ballard location, I didn't ask if it was it.

Google
It's a good coffee shop with a good atmosphere, friendly service, and a nice location. The coffee is good but not 'great'. If it were almost anywhere else, I would unquestionably mark it five stars. The trouble is, Bauhaus exists in a neighborhood where Basecamp, Vivace, and Analog are a short walk away, and consequently, it struggles to make a compelling argument for itself except as "a pretty nice place that's quieter and less busy than the extremely nice places."

The atmosphere here is really comfortable, I just wish the cafe lived up to the expectations set. The food here is slightly better (and hot) than if you were to grab a snack at the deli inside a grocery store. The coffee is sub par. The service is average. The location is great. Can't really say more than that.

If you love strong coffee, Bauhaus is a must-try. The flavor is bold, and it really wakes you up! Highly recommend their espresso—it’s strong but super smooth.

Great coffee, chill atmosphere, and awesome staff. I come here every morning for my daily espresso, and it never disappoints. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Google
Highly recommended!!Their lattes are creamy and perfectly balanced, not too sweet or bitter. Bauhaus knows how to make coffee!

Yelp
The latte was good and I appreciated that they had several milk options, including non-dairy. The staff person was very kind and friendly and helped me decide what to get. The interior was pretty cozy with a community puzzle and lots of seating. Overall I'd say it's a good place to work or hang out!

Yelp
Went here at around at around 7:30 in the morning, a few people came and go as we were here. We ordered two pastries and on the display box it has a sign that implies that the pastries are from La Parisienne, the server asked if we'd like our pastries warmed up and we happily said yes. She told us that cap hill residents get 10% off and promptly applied the discount because one of us does. This spot was very nice, very close to broadway and had nice large windows in their front. The service was also very nice and friendly. Overall the pastries were decent, they were made by a diff location so I feel like that's more of a reflection about La Parisienne than this spot. I didn't feel like coffee or any other drink today so I will need to come back and try it. Overall, good experience. Ham and cheese croissant - 7 not warmed perfectly Hazelnut chocolate - 5.5, the top tastes like Ferrero Roches but the rest of the pastry didn't have a lot of flavor and was too crumbly for me

Yelp
Amazing service and latte. Mallory was so kind and attentive. She even gave my pup a treat. I got a 12oz hot vanilla latte. The latte she made for me was the best I had in a while and I have found my new go-to cafe! It was quiet in there which is so nice in the morning. She wanted to say bye to my dog after making my cafe and I thought that was the sweetest thing ever. I feel like she was a lot more personable than other cafes. I'm more than just a customer, I felt like a friend. I'll be returning 110%. Thanks Mallory!

Yelp
Everyone here is so kind and friendly! I got the seasonal latte and it's quite possibly the best latte I've had since moving to Seattle in a year! They have breakfast sandwiches all day and even give a discount if you live in the area!

Yelp
The barista with green hair was very pleasant to talk to. It was a Wednesday and she told me it was slow, even though the sun came out briefly. I got a drip coffee (pretty strong!), an ham & cheese croissant and a Ham Omelet Melt ) surprisingly delicious!) I'll be back again if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Not really much to write the review on but had a cappuccino from this place as it was one of the few coffee shops in the neighborhood on a Monday early that was open

Yelp
I was really excited to try this shop on a day off after hearing it reopened on Capitol Hill. I came in around 9:30 on a Wednesday morning and it was empty. I actually peeked in and it didn't look like they were open. The barista had been behind the bar working on something and I didn't see her! I ordered a non fat latte and it came very quickly. I tried making some small talk with the barista and she didn't seem open to it. Oh well. I wish there were some comfier chairs for reading, all of them are wooden. The latte was pretty bitter And I ended up adding some sweetener. I wouldn't avoid Bauhaus in the future but will be sticking to my neighborhood favorites, Barjot and Joe Bar.

Yelp
Strong and balanced coffee. Barista is very friendly and the space is cozy and quiet. I came in around noon on a Tuesday - there was plenty of places to sit by the windows. Good natural lighting, great for getting some work done!

Yelp
I'm new to the neighborhood and happy to have this shop around the corner. So far I've had the same barista each time and they are just lovely. I guess this location has a sandwich shop but it's not been staffed since I've been going in. The snacks and breakfast sandos that are available definitely do the trick though.

Yelp
great cup of coffee and nice location - not too far off broadway and it's a fairly quiet street
