Baumar

Steve did our kitchen 25 years ago, painting our new cabinets with a custom faux-finish, simulating a cracked leather panel inset into a frame. The look was fantastic, and the kitchen was featured on the cover of House Beautiful magazine (February 1995 issue - you can find it online). The designer, Louanne Bauer (no relationship despite the same surname) brought him to our attention. Recently we had to replace an appliance and Steve finished a new door to match; the match came out perfect! Steve is a true artist at this stuff.

This is not a review so much as it is a means of thanking this business and employee for saving me a great deal of trouble. I left my phone on a BART, and an employee of this business found it and contacted my girlfriend about it. I went over to the shop early in the morning before Baumar opened and another worker gave me the phone. Thank you guys so much! It's fantastic to know that there are still good Samaritans in our society, especially in a city where anyone could have stolen and sold my phone.

I have known Steve Bauer for almost 30 years from the days I was a painting contractor and faux finisher, and we are still good friends. Despite the fact that we were technically "competitors" this is far from the truth and in fact, Steve referred me to an account that provided me with over $100,000 in annual income for 2 years. ( faux finishes ) Steve alway has time to chat, and we often have delicious espressos from his in shop antique Russian espresso maker, or maybe a beer or 2 after work. Steve is very honest and sincere and is also a great musician. No other place for me in San Francisco than Baumar!

This is the BEST place in San Francisco for any kind of refinishing. Service is beyond expectations, and the quality is second to none. I work with very high end designers every day and they LOVE these people. Being in the trades, I can confidently say, there is probably no one in San Francisco that can do the quality of work that that Baumar does

The very finest workmanship.Perfect. I have used Baumar for several projects over the past 15 years, both for staining and painting. They were able to match an existing walnut color stain on 8 foot unfinished walnut doors, and did it with such perfection that they look like they were done at the same time. He has finished several pieces of painted furniture with meticulous layering of multiple coats of lacquered paint. Many designers use them because of his exceptional level of quality. San Francisco is lucky to have this shop.

Had a piece repaired-- light cosmetic damage from moving-- and the work was done very well.

The shop finished several chairs and a coffee table. The work exceeded my expectations, was reasonably priced and completed in a timely fashion. Count me as a satisfied customer.
