Google
This place has good food, but honestly, it was just so-so overall. The quality was decent—everything we ordered was prepared well and tasted fine—but nothing really stood out as exceptional. For the price point, I was expecting something a bit more memorable or unique. It felt like you're paying more for the atmosphere and the “experience” than the actual food. That said, it’s definitely the kind of place you go to say you’ve been there or to enjoy the vibe. The setting is nice, and it seems like a popular spot for special occasions or a night out. The service was fine, and the staff were friendly, but not particularly standout. The biggest downside for me was the cost. It’s very expensive for what you get. While I understand that some places charge a premium for ambiance or reputation, it’s hard to fully justify the price tag when the food itself doesn’t wow you. Overall, I’m glad I went once just for the experience, but it’s not a place I’d go back to regularly. If you’re looking to splurge and want a nice setting, it might be worth it for you—but if you're focused on value, there are better options elsewhere.

Our server was great! We sat in the bar area as we just needed a small bite to eat. The pretzel was a bit cold but once the server warmed it, it was good. The chicken salad sandwich was good the salad that came with the fried chicken was very good.

Google
What a memorable experience at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant in Frankenmuth! We had the privilege of sitting at the bar, where we were warmly taken care of by Miles—a great young man attending the University of Michigan. He couldn’t have been kinder or more welcoming. We enjoyed a delicious pretzel with some fantastic dipping sauces, and both my wife and I had great beers. I also tried one of their specialty drinks—a root beer float with a little kick—and it was such a fun treat. Before we left, we stopped by the bakery downstairs and picked up a lemon meringue pie and one of their specialty apple pies—both were absolutely over-the-top delicious. The atmosphere, the service, the food—everything was just wonderful. We can’t wait to come back when we visit from California. Wishing Miles all the best on his journey, and we truly hope to stay in touch. Highly recommend !!

Google
We had a great experience here! Price was a little lower than expected, given the portion size and the amount, the atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect from a family friendly Bavarian themed restaurant - we were on a date and were sat away from children, so they have a good sense of how to make the space enjoyable for all. And the service was exceptional - prompt, friendly, and genuinely nice!

Google
Great value and tons of food. Chicken noodle soup and German dinner were delicious. Kids enjoyed the pasta and chicken & waffles. Some of the side 'dressings' weren’t hits with the kids, but overall a great meal. Local root beer and beer sampler were great extras. Will definitely visit again.

Google
The service was awesome, but the foods were mainly mediocre and nothing was special. The worst was the fried chicken. It was partially crunchy and tasted bland. For the price they charged, they could have at least brined or marinated it for a few hours before frying it. The side dishes were pretty good though, in particular the beans, coleslaw, and the cranberries.

After traveling for hours, we stopped for a night in Frankenmuth. We were hungry and tired. We were walking around hoping for an open restaurant and found the Bavarian Inn. The staff was kind and friendly. We decided to have the traditional chicken dinner. It exceeded our expectations. The meal reminded me of dinner at my grandmother’s house: chicken noodle soup, stollen, butter noodles, homemade salads, and delicious chicken. Our waiter was attentive without hovering. He knew the allergens in the menu items and made excellent recommendations. When in the area we will definitely eat here again.

Google
Very traditional chicken dinner meal, even the meals that aren’t all you can eat is more than enough food than you fill ever need. It’s all very good in a unique way!

Yelp
LOTS of food - we both ordered off the dinner menu and were very surprised with how many sides the entrees came with. Had lots of leftovers to bring home. Not necessarily very authentic german food but was a solid dinner. The restaurant itself is decorated super cute with lots of painted murals and the staff were all friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Three stars because our server, Jeanne, was awesome and saved this from being two stars. For this price, I don't care about the novelty of the restaurant or the staff dressed up, the food should be decent. It's....not. The best things in our meal were the spaetzle and red cabbage. Chicken, which is the claim to fame -- bland and stingy breading. Noodles? Taste like nothing so you have to use the proprietary chicken seasoning on the table. Stuffing was good, apparently. Stollen? Gross. Pasta salad. Okay. Noodle soup? Whatever. It's a tourist trap, but this is equal to or worse than hotel banquet food. How has this place been around this long gouging families these prices for BLAND "German" food? Best thing I can say is, for the money, you get a CRAPTON of food. Like, more than you expect because so many of the sides are apparently complimentary.

Yelp
How has it been more than a decade since I've been here and yet every word of my 2012 review still rings true? Everything I said then is still accurate, except sadly in my old age, I cannot stuff myself silly the way I used to. Making a note for my future self - DON'T EAT the Stollen bread with dinner. Enjoy the rest of the meal and buy a loaf downstairs to take home.

Yelp
This is one of the 2 famous restaurants in Frankenmuth. You come here for the fried chicken, but the sides are actually the star. You can get the all-you-can-eat chicken, but I would actually eat more of the sides.
google avatar

Yelp
Affordable drinks and delicious food! The cheesy potatoes were a family favorite and everyone seemed to enjoy the schnitzel. The lunch portions were a great size and affordable for what you get. Others who had the bone in chicken said it was a little dry but the included gravy made it good. Our server seemed a bit new, but he was confident and did his best to answer our questions. Our waters were filled when needed. We enjoyed that the servers were dressed in traditional German clothing and there was a man walking around playing an accordion. While tables were a bit close together, the seats were comfortable and clean.

Yelp
Cute place, fun atmosphere but very touristy and the food was not very good. You're sure to find better German food in this Bavarian themed town. The server was nice and the restaurant is huge so seating wasn't a problem. I would go just to look around and see the gift shop but skip the food.

Yelp
When you go to Frankenmuth, at least for the first time, I recommend having a meal at either Zehnders or Bavarian Inn. I rarely say this, but it's tradition. This time around, my friend and I chose Bavarian Inn. We had both previously had meals at Zehnders, so it made sense to try this place now. Others shared this opinion. When we got to the restaurant before noon, a line was snaking through the space. It was long, but we waited 15 minutes--enough time to continue our conversation but not enough time to get upset. We had also tried to place a reservation while in line, but it just did not take. I was impressed by how quickly guests were seated, though; neither large tables of 8+ nor small tables of 2 experienced long waits. The menu at Bavarian Inn is varied. There is, of course, the chicken lunch/dinner, German specialties, sandwiches, and a small selection of salads. Both my friend and I had the chicken plate, which included mashed potatoes and dressing. We also added sides of coleslaw and noodles. The meals are supposedly all-you-can-eat, but I was stuffed and could barely have one piece of chicken, let alone more. I guess I shouldn't have filled up on the bread (it was Stollen bread, so you can at least understand why). Neither of us could fit in dessert, even though I usually reserve a corner of my tummy for apple pie. Service was fine.

Yelp
The waitress was wonderful but was inundated with the number of tables she was responsible for. It took a long time to get our meal. A 1 hour dinner turned into a 3 hour dinner just because of the slow kitchen. The food was good and you receive a lot of it.

Yelp
SO MUCH FOOD. First our server, Elise, brought stollen and regular bread to the table with small plates. I ordered chicken schnitzel and my husband the cordon bleu. Well before the entree came out we had FIVE bowls of appetizers: slaw, carrots&red peppers in a citrus vinaigrette, chicken noodle soup, tuna and shells, and a cranberry relish. THEN came the entrees. The meats portion was huge and OH there's more side dishes: sauerkraut, green beans and noodles. The only thing I didn't like was the white gravy on the schnitzel. I don't love white gravy at all. I hate that we wasted food, but we were getting full. Dessert thank goodness was lighter-soft service ice cream-and they had a creamsicle so yes, that was great! Enjoyed talking to Elise and she did a great job.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant and great food and customer service. We had Angelica as our server and she went above and beyond. It's a great and cozy restaurant. Loved it.

Yelp
Came here for a late lunch on a Friday during peak Christmas season and were seated right away with no wait. The root beer was amazing! The seasonal sangria was extremely sweet, but good. We got a couple appetizers and they were good. The atmosphere was my favorite thing about the place though! So cozy and warm. Just a heads up though: there's absolutely NOTHING for a vegetarian to eat here besides a couple apps !

Yelp
We arrived around 2:00 - 2:15 pm for a chicken lunch. We approached the Hostess to get reservations we were told that it would be 45 minutes for a table. There were over 10 tables open at the time. We decided to try the bar area which is seat yourself, not being busy we sat at a table with a view of main street. We ordered a sampler platter, drinks and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and fries. The food was nothing special, basically run of the mill bar food. The waitress was spot on, great service.
google avatar

Eric D.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my dinner. I couldn't figure out what to order. So I ordered all of it. It is served all you can eat as well. The sides were delicious as well. The meats were amazing. The reason for four stars. Of course. What is always the reason. The waiter. The place was not busy. There were not large parties. And the food came out immediately. The waiter was slow and didn't come back to talk to us and ask how everything went.

L B.

Yelp
Staff was great Chicken was good very basic fried chicken. Was it the best? No. Would I go back there just for the chicken, No. Chicken pot pie got great reviews. German potato salad was good. (mine is better) Pork schnitzel just ok Would I come back ? If I'm ever in Michigan again perhaps

Yelp
We were here when the restaurant opened for lunch. Some establishments open slowly, but here the restaurant opened and was snapping and popping right away. The hostess and wait staff were right there and ready. Fantastic service, as always. For lunch, we had the housemade chicken salad on croissant, the hunter's schnitzel, and the Rueben sandwich were delicious. I highly recommend a side of chicken livers for added protein. They're delicious. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Yelp
Nut Allergies Beware!! They served my son bread with nuts without telling us or asking about allergies. He instantly became sick and had to leave. Threw up multiple times with welts all over his body. Almost ended up at the hospital. It totally ruined our night. Took food to go. Aside from that, the atmosphere was nice, skip the German food because it was mediocre, and just get the fried chicken. Anything else is a waste of money. Chicken pot pie had a terrible spice in it like tarragon or turmeric, cheese for the pretzel was disgusting and tasted sweet, $7 for potato salad!?! Way over priced. Not sure I would do this again.
google avatar

Mitchell D.

Yelp
Very traditional style dinner mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, chicken everything is very decent. It's not good but it is a dinner that we have every year and that is a tradition to us and I do enjoy it every time that I am here. The service is always wonderful. Very clean and right when dessert rolls around you be happy again if the chicken in traditional mild, didn't do it for you

Yelp
My sister and I arrived early in the lunch tour. Despite my best effort, my sister ordered a simple hamburger and fries, and lemonade, while ordered pork schnitzel and water. We were seated right away, and waited on as well. Although it was only started getting busy, there were plenty of open tables that filled in after us. Here's where it starts going bad. My sister and waited for more than an hour for our food! We checked with the waiter and was told we were waiting on the HAMBURGER!!! Ultimately, (after an hour an 10 mins) qe walked away. On my way out I requested to speak with a manager to let them know. (I had visited this place years before and was shocked by the lack of service, and attitude of the server). Here's where it got better. The manager was appalled, and immediately made things right. He moved us to a reserved seating area, checked our order personally, upgraded our drinks, and threw in free dessert! He personally visited our table to check on us, and assigned our waiter! Now on to the food - it was delicious! The schnitzel was perfectly cooked, and let me tell you the potato puffs are wonderful! My sisters burger was juicy and flavorful. Although waiting to be reseated and served *well took up much more of our shopping day than we wanted, the manager of this place made it almost worth the while. My advice is always speak up over bad service, but also compliment the good as well

Yelp
When I'm in Frankenmuth, I love to stop at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant. The last time I was there, I had the Ultimate Family Style Bavarian Dinner, which was wonderful. This time, I was there for lunch, and had the Frankenmuth Combination, which is a smaller version of the Family Style Dinner. You get one piece of chicken, one piece of schnitzel, some sauerbraten, some sauerkraut, and 3 potato cheese puffs. The food was great, and so was the service, and the dining room was very nice too

Yelp
I don't know why this place and Zender's are so popular! Way overpriced!! And not very good "German" food. We did have an excellent waiter, who suggested that we could have luncheon portions and the luncheon menu, which was more reasonably priced. The only thing on the menu worth getting is the schnitzel which was dry, but the gravy made up for it and the little hush puppies or whatever they were served with that were excellent. I could've eaten a whole meal of that side. Beer is well priced, and there is a nice variety, including some German Beers. We we ordered the "" baked Alaska" which was a brownie with ice cream and instead of real meringue it was covered with some kind of marshmallow topping that was not fired or baked in anyway. It tasted good, but was not baked Alaska. Needless to say, unless I'm with someone who really wants to go there again I will not be eating at the Bavarian.. Would save the meal was our waiter who is friendly, helpful, and made the experience a nice one.

Yelp
This is the type of restaurant where you pay for the famous tourist hype. The food was not good. Chicken was a little sweet but nothing too amazing. You're served sandwich bread to start and again, nothing special. The sides were just okay. Homemade pickles were decent and potatoes were okay. Service was good and the server got us plenty of drink refills and was very kind. For not good food, our total for 2 people was around $100. That is just insane! I will not be back next time I'm in town.

Laura M.

Yelp
Food was spectacular, service was exceptional (thank you Hannah) and the ambiance was just like being in a German town! Well done!
google avatar

Yelp
What a great quaint little entertainment district. We would highly recommend you visit Frankenmuth, MI you will be pleasantly surprised. We stopped here for lunch and sat outside on the patio. Lots of people wondering around the shops and covered bridge area. Our food was fantastic, prices were respectable, staff were very attentive and the service was perfect! Nothing negative to say here. After lunch we walked across the street to the bakery at the hotel and loaded up on chocolates to take home. Definitely we will be back to do some more exploring.

Yelp
The whole experience is nothing I haven't already experienced in Amish country in Ohio. From the food, to the decor and the gift shops, it's all very familiar. Not to say it isn't nice or that the food isn't good. It's just the same. Ate lunch here on a Thursday and got seated pretty quickly. The authentically dressed waiter was fast, friendly and efficient. Ate off the lunch menu so I wouldn't break the bank. If you're gonna come to Frankenmuth, gotta have it at least once. The food is good, not great. Though the potato puffs were scrumptious. I can't see paying the $30 per plate that they want for their chicken dinners that I can get in Ohio for less than $20, but what do I know?
google avatar

Yelp
The atmosphere here is very Bavarian, lol. It has an old world Germanic/Dutch feel to it. Very clean and bright. I ordered the Ultimate Bavarian Family Style Dinner ($36). It starts with a fruit & nut bread and a white bread. Then comes the noodle soup with what they call 4 salads: coleslaw, pasta salad, cranberry relish, and lastly a seasonal salad (sliced carrots). Then the meat course of Chicken, Smoked Pork Loin, Marinated Roast Beef, Smoked Sausage, and Breaded Loin of Pork. Served with sides of Baked Dressing, Vegetable du jour, Mashed Potatoes and gravy, buttered noodles, sauerkraut, and potato cheese puffs. Lastly some house made soft serve Ice Cream ( Vanilla, Orange, Swirl, or Cranberry). Overall the food was excellent. The bread was good, but not special. The Noodle Soup was very good. The Coleslaw, Pasta Salad, and surprisingly the Carrots were very good. Personally the Cranberries were a pass, but that's just me. The Chicken and Smoked Pork Loin is excellent. The Marinated Roast Beef is very good. The Bread Pork Loin is okay, just a little plain. It needs some type of sauce. I unfortunately didn't like the Smoked Sausage. The mashed potatoes, potato cheese puffs, and buttered noodles are very good. I didn't like the stuffing. Personally not a fan of sauerkraut or vegetable du jour, so didn't try them. The Ice Cream was excellent. I got the Vanilla and Orange swirl, recommended by my server. He was right, it's like an orange creamsicle. The service was fantastic. I love the Bavarian costumes. Super friendly and efficient, even while being slammed by the Dog Show and Hot Air Balloon events. Overall an easy 5 star review. I can see why they are famous. Would I return? Absolutely! As a side note and this doesn't affect the rating, but skip the bakery. The apple Strudel was only ok. The chocolate chip cookie was ehh and a little hard. Lastly the Cinnamon Cobbler was good, but nothing special. Also a light critique: the tiny butters for your bread are annoying!
google avatar

Mémé H.

Yelp
The Bavarian Inn was recommended highly by the staff at Bronner's Christmas Store, but we are not sure why. Service was very slow and the restaurant was not that busy. Food left much to be desired. The Frankenmuth Fried Chicken, may have been breaded and fried, but it is not "fried chicken." Does not at all compare to a good Southern or Indiana fried chicken. Came with odd mashed potato cheese puffs and salad that was soaked so much with a sweet dressing and topped with fried coconut, it was unpalatable. The filling of the chicken pot pie was mainly filled with a gravy, the color of turmeric or mustard.
google avatar

Brett H.

Yelp
The chicken here is hands down the best! The question everyone wants to know is Bavarian Inn or Zehnder's... I'd say they are very similar... though I prefer the chicken here and Bavarian Inn better, I liked all the other fixins at Zehnders better! Obviously the experience inside Bavarian Inn is awesome! With an accordion player walking around and the fun open atmosphere!
google avatar

Jodi K.

Yelp
First time in Frankenmuth and my husband HAD to have German food. We ordered the Bavarian and the Weiner Schnitzel. There were a ton of sides and apps but the entree portion was underwhelming. My husband was happier with the meal than I was. The service wasn't the best. We sat with empty drinks for a long while (thinking he just forgot to ring in the beer). The dining room had the typical German decorations.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Actually, it's more like 3.5 stars. We decided to try Bavarian Inn instead of Zehnder's for dinner. Just to try something different. We kind of thought "it'll be basically the same thing". But it's not. Yeah, it's a chicken dinner. $35+ per person with White Meat Only. The explanation we received is that Bavarian Inn is "German Style" and Zehnders is more "American Style" The concept is the same, but... just a little less polished, let's say. Even the building itself felt like it had a little less ambiance. The chicken is tasty, but... we missed the crispy skin. It's dang good chicken, for sure. I would definitely eat that chicken again. The stuffing was super strong with a bang of sage, thyme and salt. The Buttered Noodles were... less buttery, more oily, tasted of Ritz crackers strongly. All the sides were basically good. In no way was it a bad meal. It just wasn't at the same level of Zehnders meal, in my personal opinion. I can definitely see why some folks prefer one or the other.

Yelp
Little Bavaria here? The interior has a definite hint of Bavaria, I suppose. The waitstaff are all wearing traditional Bavarian garment. The men are sporting their leiderhosen. Kegan is waiting on us today. I can't say I am a huge fan of German food as a whole and never ate much of it when I worked in Germany either. My FIL picked this place out of all of the food options in Frankenmuth, so that happened to be why we ended up here. I can't say anything on the menu appealed to me, it all looked so bland and boring and rather empty carbs, except the steamed veggies. I settled on eating the meat only of the fried chicken and the white fish with steamed vegetables. My FIL got the , my FIL's friend ordered the and my SIL ordered the . Our waiter's name is , she seemed nice and took care of us today. Ordered a cheese burger, hunter's schnitzel, chicken schnitzel or Rueben with spicy chicken, chicken salad croissant and sauerkraut, blaukraut, Gruyère dip with bread bites and the pickle chips with ranch too. $93.52 for half of the bill. The stollen bread and white bread slices are out, basic and filler food. They brew their own root beer, it's sweet and similar to IBC somewhat. There's music in the background, it's an organist, chilled. The pickle fries aren't too bad, the Gruyère dip is okay. The stollen bread is okay, white bread too. Found a piece of bone in my chicken salad. I let Kegan know. She said it's all freshly made and the chicken is ground up. The Rueben with the chicken was so, no thousand or dressing and the chicken was super dry. I do like the Rueben with the pumpernickel. The croissant was dry, not buttery or flaky at all and the chicken salad had a 2 inch bone in it. Fun. The cheese ball was not what I was expecting at all. The blaukraut is cooked with bacon and is super sweet. The burger looked like charcoal sliders. Nothing like a blackened burger. My FIL liked his Hunter's schnitzel and my FIL's friend liked her chicken schnitzel well enough.

Yelp
Stopped by during the snow festival going on and they got us in right away for a table of 4. I normally go to Zehnders for the chicken dinner but they looked pretty busy and decided to check them out for once. The atmosphere was awesome with the German feel everywhere and the outfits the staff wore. Unfortunately our waitress was completely under the influence and noticed it right from the beginning. Didn't have most of our silverware drinks she just kept forgetting items and things. Needed something and she was no where to be found for 20 minutes. Otherwise the food was absolutely delicious, I couldn't really compare since I haven't had Zehnders in a long time either but the pasta salad was absolutely delicious and I loved the cranberry sauce I brought it home for breakfast in the morning. Place was clean also.

Yelp
Wonderful place to stay in Frankenmuth, MI. Beautiful hotel with an amazing below ground "play room" that defies description. 5 pools , lots of games, miniature golf, it has it all! Great destination for families. Outdoor bar that was very nice, attentive servers, great drinks! We had breakfast at the hotel, nice freshly prepared food, definitely worth it. Great family destination!
google avatar

Mia M.

Yelp
We've visited three different occasions, but we're only able to eat here twice. Sometimes in the summer their wait can be astronomical (2 hours+). Since then we are sure to make a reservation as soon as we make plans to visit Frankenmuth. The Inn is large and therefore loud. All the staff wear traditional costumes, and everytime we have visited the service has been excellent. Both times we've opted for the family style meal, and it's a very fun experience. They just keep bringing food! I would absolutely return.

N S.

Yelp
The chicken is literally the best here. Don't waste your time with anything else unless it's dessert
google avatar

Morgan H.

Yelp
This place is not good what so ever. First, I was given a dirty napkin with utensils that were not washed. The complimentary bread they give you tastes awful and is not fresh whatsoever. The pretzels were worse than those at the mall, with little flavor. Lastly, my brother got their chicken sandwich, which looked like throw; the chicken gravy was awful, and they drenched everything in it! We will not be coming here again.
google avatar

Kayla R.

Yelp
We stayed there and walked across the covered bridge to the restaurant. Don't expect a gourmet meal,we had the family chicken dinner with pork chops it was pretty good and delicious! A lot of sides and dessert very satisfying meal, service was very friendly and attentive food came fast and hot would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Try the Bavarian Inn for the experience. The food is average, nothing really special or amazing. The building itself is really cool, it's huge inside, there's a bakery and gift shop inside the building. The service was good. Be prepared for a ton of food if you order one of the dinners. It was so much food it seemed impossible to eat. The best from what I tried- bean salad, sauerkraut, potato puffs, German potato salad, buttered noodles, chicken schnitzel, all really good. Not so good was the chicken soup (basically some noodles in broth), and the pasta salad which was weird and had chicken in it. You're supposed to get bread and they forgot to give us that but we didn't even ask for it because we had so much food. You get cute little ice cream cups for dessert included with the dinners. Not many vegetarian options here but a fun overall experience to try once.
google avatar

Madison V.

Yelp
Lots of fun for the entire family. We got some fantastic food and drink while we were visiting for our vacation. The food was good but the drinks were stellar. I ended up going back a few times for drinks throughout the week. Then, below the restaurant is an entire shopping center and bakery. Fantastic location
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
If you sign up for their birthday club you can get a free family style dinner with an order of the same price. The butter noodles and chicken is delicious, I couldn't get enough. The mashed potatoes, bean salad, cranberry salad are also pretty good. I also had the beer tasting which was nice to try 4 different kinds. The server was attentive and friendly.
google avatar

Tim A.

Yelp
We make an 1 1/2 hr drive to eat here quite often. Always well worth it. Food and service is always top notch.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
We enjoyed our dinner here! My son loved the mashed potatoes & gravy. The Cole slaw was out of this world! Our server was great too! Hope to visit again.

Jodi T.

Yelp
The food was extremely dry and lacked taste. We had chicken and the Bavarian combination, as well as a chicken kids meal for our 3 year old. He didn't even eat his chicken as he said it was too hard to chew. The service was okay, our order came out wrong and was not fixed, even after mentioning it. We left after eating maybe 25% of our dinners. It was a disappointing experience. We went to the outside mall and got donuts and coffee and that was delicious.

Pam A.

Yelp
Had chicken pot pie & pretzel appetizer. Would give 2.5 stars if I could. The pretzel wasn't warm or soft. The chicken pot pie was thick and "pastey", meaning it could really used much more gravy. Also, the prices are a little higher than I think they should be.
google avatar

Shayne R.

Yelp
Very friendly helpful staff. The aesthetic is old to match the theme of the hotel. It doesn't scream clean though. The food was reasonably priced for a tourist area. The food was good. Many rave about the chicken, I thought it was fine, but nothing to write home about. Breakfast was better. I recommend the breakfast buffet.

Francine M.

Yelp
Worst chicken ever! It was tough and dry. The waitress asked if I needed a box and I said "no, it was tough, dry and disgusting so I didn't eat it" my bill came and they wanted to charge me full price $31.50 for a chicken dinner I did not eat. The restaurant manager said she would have fried me new chicken if she'd known there was an issue. Since the waitress didn't say anything to the manager I got a 10% discount. I will never eat here again.

Yelp
We lost our waitress and food was cold or luke warm at best. Had to send fish back. Chicken parm was good but luke warm. Management came to get phone number but no call back. Will not go back as it's just a food factory. Disappointing is an understatement. I would not go back if food was free!!!

Yelp
3.5 stars! Haven't been here in 40 years, and it hasn't changed a bit! The male servers in lederhosen, the female severs in "Heidi" inspired dresses. It's like time has stopped. Excellent service as always. I dont think the menu has changed much in 40 years either. We went with Bavarian feast, which comes with an array of appetizers like chicken noodle soup, butter noodles, fried potato cheese puffs, white bean salad. The meats ate ham, roast beef, pork schnitzel, and sausage. Fried chicken is also included and is what these places are most famous for. Honestly, next time I would just stick with the fried chicken dinner (or maybe fried chicken dinner +1 meat option) which gets you all the aforementioned sides as I didn't think most of the meats were as good as the fried chicken which has a nicely season very thin crust. These are all served family style and priced per person. The nostalgia and kitsch value is probably the biggest draw for this place as well as the other fried chicken dinner haus Zehnder's across the street.

Yelp
It was a Saturday, at 1pm, on a holiday weekend. I had already popped in to a few places, with two kids in tow, and kept hearing about 30+ minute wait times (and added my name to a list, just in case). We walked in this massive restaurant, with multiple dining rooms, one having an amusement park-like line. We walked past that line, through some hallways, and saw a hostess station. I approached the station, where an individual whose dreams had died a long time ago, replied to my inquiry regarding the wait time with a snappy response about no wait time. But then didn't offer a table... so that was awkward. My kids and I were eventually taken into the dining room, seated in a corner that had 4 chairs but would be cramped if we had a fourth mouth. They have fruit and nut bread on the table. While eating it my child asks the server what's in the bread and he replied "fruit and nuts" ... LOL. It would have been nice to know specifics but whatever. The server was nice but either new or just awkward. It was difficult to get my water refilled so I just drank from my kid's. I wasn't expecting the starter soup, so that was a nice treat. The chicken was fine. Not amazing. The kids menu states ice cream is included. It was a huge perk to coming here. I overheard another server saying the machine broke (which could be true, despite another table receiving ice cream during the beginning of our lunch). However, our server never addressed it. He didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. Just handed over the check and thanked us for coming. I was interested in an Oreo milkshake if my kids weren't getting ice cream. Oh well. Huge disappointment.

Yelp
The food is incredible, the service is impeccable, and the ambiance is second to none. We have been going here yearly (driving 4 hours from Ohio to Michigan) since 1998. It is a tradition to meet family there and stay over Thanksgiving weekend to eat until ready to burst and shop in the lovely small community. This chicken is second to none - juicy, tender, spiced just right, not too heavy breading and always hot. The meal starts with freshly baked white bread and freshly baked stolen bread and butter. Next, comes the noodle soup. Just a small cup of perfectly seasoned chicken noodle soup to whet your palate. Next up, the side dishes - these rotate seasonally but typically include the tastiest chicken pasta salad, an amazing buttered noodle dish, cole-slaw with the perfect balance of cabbage and dressing, lovely acorn squash (think sweet potatoes), stuffing, freshly mashed potatoes, the best cranberry orange relish I'v ever had and home-made gravy that would make my mother think they stole her recipe! Additionally, there is sometimes bean salad, cucumber salad, etc. Next up, the hot chicken in both white and dark meat, according to your preference. To make it even better, it's all you can eat. If you're running low on anything, you get an entire plate/bowl to share with the table, including as many platters of chicken as you can eat. Finally, to top it off, you get a dish of soft-service ice cream, typically vanilla, orange or swirl. Our family will be back again and again. It's not unusual for the grandkids to have chicken-eating contests with the grandparents (I've eaten 8; how many have you eaten?? LOL).
