You know how you step off a plane into the sunshine in a foreign country and the air hits your face and you think ... yeah, this definitely isn't the US. And from that moment on everything is *different*?
You can find that feeling here. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had been invited to a restaurant on the other side of the world. Walking by the handcrafted decor, we made our way to the table noticing that while much of the restaurant was well used, it was clearly also well loved.
We didn't manage to stop by on Thursday for the buffet, so we ordered off the menu directly. The veggie platter was excellent - we devoured the baba ganoush in record time, only barely beating out the hummus, and were delighted to find the stuffed grape leaves were warm!
There were three of us so we ordered the chicken shawarma, lamb kebsa, and chicken kebab salad. All excellent. Wanting to save room for the Knafeh for dessert I opted to only eat a third of my Kebsa. Turns out the 2/3rds I took home made for a great (and very filling) lunch the next day too. And the Knafeh hit the spot what with the thin piping hot cheese below and pistachios layered on top.
Oddly, the icing on the cake here (metaphorically speaking ... I don't think they actually serve cake) was the QR code I scanned to pay at the end. No shuffling credit cards back and forth for ten minutes, payment took only as long as FaceID.
If I were to nitpick, I might suggest leaving a little more time than you think you might need -- we ended up there for about two hours all in all. The restaurant wasn't especially busy so I'm not sure why we spent that much time waiting ... other than, perhaps, great food takes time. I also missed the fact that there was an 18% gratuity already included. Oops.
